Currently in Wichita, it is mostly cloudy, 78 degrees, here on this Thursday morning with Woodward and Witt. Sentcom confirming that the United States launched large-scale attacks against Iran. This comes after President Trump vowed to hit the nation very hard after Iran launched a surprise attack. Among the targets were multiple military command and control centers all across Iran. Dozens of them hit. The U.S. attacks were in response to an Iranian attack. against Jim Jordan. Iran fired ballistic missiles against U.S. military positions in Jim Jordan, sent com confirming that all those missiles fired by Iran were disabled or were intercepted. President Trump had warned that the U.S. would be responding to Iran's attack. In addition, the U.S. also attacked Iranian-backed militias inside of Iraq. This time, it was a joint attack alongside with Saudi Arabian jet fighters. That's Fox's Steve Harrigan with that report. from Tel Aviv, Israel. One person is dead after a fire at a fourplex in Haysville. It happened in the 100 block of West Sarah Lane near Main Street. The initial call came in around 1245 a.m. this morning with reports of a fire and a person trapped. Fire fires with Sedgwick County Fire District 1, arrived to find one of the four units on fire and entered the building. They found a person dead inside that unit. The other three units were vacant. On scene, firefighters noted the ramp outside the burned unit had a handicap ramp. Firefighters knocked the fire down quickly, but with extreme heat, they rotated crews in and out to keep them hydrated and safe. A man was sentenced yesterday for fatally shooting his neighbor during a home invasion in East Wichita. Matthew Morgan sentenced to three years and ten months in the Kansas Department of Corrections and two years post-release supervision. According to court documents, Morgan was originally charged with second-degree murder, but he entered an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter. Under that plea, a defendant doesn't admit guilt, but admits there is enough evidence that they would likely be convicted. The shooting happened after Christmas in 2025 last year at home near Douglas and Interstate 135 on December 27th. When Wichita police officers responded, they found Marcus Adkins shot in the back and a 67-year-old man shot in the leg. Adkins died at the hospital. The other man survived.

Arguably, the most prominent public health official of the COVID-19 era faced renewed congressional scrutiny yesterday during a contentious Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing. Dr. Anthony Fauci declined to answer questions as he was grilled by Republicans for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. I respectfully declined to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution. The hearing led by Senator Rand Paul who subpoenaed Anthony Fauci, accusing him of lying about the origins of COVID, saying it came from a Chinese lab that he says Anthony Fauci funded. Ask forgiveness and pledge to help our government devise safeguards so a man-made epidemic never happens again. Democrats defending Anthony Fauci saying there's no evidence supporting allegations that Anthony Fauci intentionally misled Congress or funded prohibited research that caused the pandemic. Jeff Monasso, Fox News. Concertgoers and event attendees in Wichita might notice a new ticket provider at several local venues. Interest Bank Arena officials had a partnership with Ticketmaster has been underway now during the month of July. All events that went on sale after July 1st are being sold through Ticketmaster platform. Events that were already on sale before July 1st are still being sold through Select a Seat during the duration of those shows. Ticketmaster will fully replace Select a Seat, once all shows currently being sold on that platform have taken place. Ticketmaster tickets are now available for events at Interest Bank Arena, the Orpheum Theater, Century 2, all three venues, along with the Capitol Federal Amphitheater. are managed by Legends Global, that amphitheaters in Andover. That could be an issue for folks. Ticketmaster's not been the most popular. Well, you don't have a choice. No, that's part of the problem. You either buy it or you don't. Yeah, that's, that will be interesting to see how people respond to that particular story. Central County Commissioners held the first public hearing. On the proposed 2027 budget yesterday evening, listening to residents share what they would change about the spending plan. Only three people spoke at the meeting. The full proposed budget is more than 800 pages. The proposed budget includes a large increase in funding for EMS, mill reductions, and a 4.2% property tax increase. A federal corrections officer accused of crossing the line into a sexual relationship with an inmate. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. This is at Fort Dix in New Jersey. 27-year-old Jim Jordan Pensac is charged with sexually abusing an individual in federal custody after prosecutors say she had a sexual relationship with an inmate at the federal correctional institution in Fort Dix earlier this year. Investigators say the inmate also used two contraband cell phones to exchange sexually explicit messages and images with Pensac. Officials say she later admitted to the relationship and told the inmate's family she believes she might be pregnant. Pensac has been released on bail and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Ted Lindner, Fox News. I don't think that's in the employee handbook anywhere. No. Probably, probably a bit of a no-no. The trailers are rocking. Some antique ammo produced quite a scare for TSA agents. A passenger at Gulf Shores International Airport south of Mobile, Alabama had some items in her checked bag that TSA would not let go through. They were five Civil War-era cannonballs, and the security agent who spotted them couldn't tell if they were explosive or not. Regional TSA explosive specialists were notified, and local police responded to the airport. Officials found that those cannonballs had allegedly been stolen by a juvenile from Fort Morgan. Morgan, a historic Alabama fort, and they wound up in the luggage of that juvenile's grandmother. She said she didn't know they were stolen, and Fort Morgan didn't press charges. Jill Nato, Fox News. Wasn't even close. Yeah, the former Jayhawks only shot 30% from the field and missed 24-3 points. Wasn't even a very good performance. Their farthest run ever in the TBT, but it must have been in the quarterfinals. Kentucky alums will play for the championship. Last year, it was the Wichita State Alums winning it all. This year, the Kentucky alum play for the title in the TBT. Let's go back to Major League Baseball, the Kansas City Royals on the road last night, visiting the Minnesota Twins. And the Royals, man, the Royals got everything going pretty much in every phase of the game last night. On the mound at the end, former Wichita Windsor's pitcher Stephen Cruz. You heard the game over on 97-5 and 1240, KFH. The Royals have had five shutout wins this season. It's been a while since the last one. Got to go back to June 14th. First pitch to Victor Carrotini, rolled back to Cruz. He scoops it up. Bobbles, recovers, tosses to Salvi in time. Ball game over. Royals win. It's a one, two, three, bottom of the ninth for Stephen Cruz. And Randy Dobnack leads the way with seven scoreless innings. The Royals shut out the twins, a final score of four-nothing. Iran attempts to hit back. President Trump told Fox News yesterday that Iran was going to get a beating. U.S. Central Command said dozens of targets belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guard were hit in an operation lasting over two hours, military command centers, missile and drone facilities, and coastal surveillance and defense sites. Early this morning, Jim Jordan's air defenses shot down five Iranian missiles. This week has seen the conflict expand with the first publicly announced joint U.S. Saudi strikes. targeting Iranian proxies in Iraq. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. A Kansas teacher arrested in two counties facing charges for multiple child to sex crimes. Kristen Barr, who taught in the West Elk School District, was charged in Elk County with criminal sodomy in decent solicitation of a child and electronic solicitation of a child. Court documents show that Barr's victim was 15 years old. The document said Barr solicited the victim through Snapchat to engage in sexual intercourse. Barr faces several charges in Greenwood County, including unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, aggravated child endangerment. furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to a child's misconduct. Documents said that Barr also attempted to sell, furnish, or distribute cigarettes to a person under 18. Many of the charges involve the same victim as the charges in Elk County. Barr posted $40,000 bond in Greenwood County and was released on July 28th. Phil Hildebrand, KNSSS News. The funeral ceremonies for Senator Lindsey Graham went from Washington, D.C. to his home state of South Carolina. The casket carrying the late Senator Lindsey Graham was taken into the South Carolina State House before it was taken to the First Baptist Church in Columbia for a service with Graham's family, friends, and state officials. Among those who gave tributes to the late Senator were Governor Henry McMaster, former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. The Congresswoman who becomes a senator who becomes a world leader, statesman without any question, I am going to miss my friend. Windsor Graham. His final resting place will be the Zion Cemetery in the town where he was born, Central, South Carolina. Jessica Rosenthal, Fox News. We are now at the peak of a couple of overlapping meteor showers. The Alpha Capricorned shower began in early July, expected to be active through the middle of August, and the Southern Delta Aquarians became active on July 12th, and that'll go until about the third week of August. Both showers will peak tonight. into the morning of tomorrow, according to the American Meteor Society. These two showers together could result in seeing up to 30 meteors per hour if you're under perfect viewing conditions. The full moon, though, might interfere with viewing conditions. Bright moonlight could wash out some of the fainter meteors, but the brightest ones should still be viewable. Spotting a meteor doesn't require special equipment, according to NASA. U.S. Senator from Kansas, Jerry Moran, objected on the Senate floor to a request.

For a unanimous consent regarding a proposed amendment to his legislation, the Take Care of American Veterans Act. Earlier this year, I was on the Senate floor at my seat here, standing here telling folks that maybe for once we'll quit sponsoring pieces of legislation that benefit veterans, but never get to the point in which they're actually passed. And I committed myself to finding a way in which passage of the legislation could occur. not just remarks on the Senate floor or in committee or in gatherings of veterans or speaking to our constituents at home of our support. Now, there has been some large death losses also reported in the cattle due to the current weather. The only cash trade has been $360 in the north, which is $5 to $6 lower. Now, there are reports that Cargill and the Teamsters in Fort Morgan, Colorado have reached a recommended settlement on a new labor contract. A vote to ratify is expected next week.

The plan has been idled since May 20th. Lean hogs yesterday had large triple digit losses. On the close yesterday, October live cattle, $1.80 higher, $2.2397. August feeder cattle, $1.20 higher, 34427. October lean hogs down $2.57 at 8570. Now, Wednesday saw long liquidation by managed money accounts and also taken some of the weather premium out of the markets that resulted in wheat, corn, and soybean complexes to close. Now, the Fed yesterday left rates unchanged for the fifth straight meeting, and the energy markets were very strong yesterday, and equities were down hard. Wheat futures are up strong overnight as the Black Sea situation with Russia and the Ukraine is intensified as Ukraine's drones damaged a Russian grain export tournament.
