President Trump says another round of talks with Iran start today. Iran denies those talks are happening. The Louisiana Attorney General is joining Florida. Her state will investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci. And the new Spider-Man movie scored Hollywood's second biggest debut ever. Of course, a lot of it has to do with the ticket prices. And inflation is making nearly everything more expensive, including airline tickets. But there are other factors that play a role in the cost of flying. Our national correspondent Roy O'Neill is here to explain why flights are so expensive and why they will likely stay that way for the very near future at least. Roeering, good morning. Hey there, Michael, good morning. Yeah, the biggest factor is the spike in the price of jet fuel. Obviously, those prices went up after the U.S. and Israel launched a series of attacks on Iran, and those jet fuel prices are still elevated. They've come down from their peaks, but they're still elevated. They're estimated to cost each airline at United or American, something like $6 billion extra this year. So ticket prices for airfares are up. 26% from where they were one year ago. Plus add into the mix, you've got that ultra-discount carrier spirit airlines not flying anymore. So a lot of air travelers are just forced to pay more. And we are buying. That's what they're also noticing. The airlines seeing that even with the spike in airfares, consumers are still booking pretty much at the normal rate. So if you're going to pay this much for a ticket. the airlines don't really see a reason to lower those fares. You know, it's funny, we bring all these things up anecdotally different days, but we never kind of connect all the dots. We're seeing people in some cases, well, of course, the latest show is spending more, but by and large, maybe spending less, and we just presume that that's the economy and inflation and people are pulling back, and yet we don't add in where they're spending more. I don't know that this doesn't point back, Rory, to COVID. And it's changed everything. And we came out of COVID and we have X number of dollars still to spend, but we're buying less stuff and we're experiencing more things and taking more trips, even if it costs more. I wonder if that's a part of the equation too. Well, yeah. I think that's that prioritizing experiences is something that certainly came out of COVID. These bucket list trips, we've seen a surge in travel since then. And then you sort of adjust the budget in another way. Say, all right, maybe more fast food while we travel. But at the same time, we still want that experience. Because let's face it, you got to do it for the Instagram. Right. So even if the ticket's an extra 100 bucks.

Think of all the extra clicks you're going to get down the road. Wow, that's right, because we don't live life. We project a life and we have to have ammunition. I actually had to have a struggle with my wife to buy a new refrigerator. I'm just not a fan of side-by-sides anymore. I'm reaching it. We live in refrigerators, not freezers anymore, and I can't reach anything. If I pull something out of the back, five things spill. But to get her to agree to buying a new refrigerator and moving the old one into the garage and getting rid of the one in the garage. compared to going on a trip was almost impossible. I mean, my very own wife has become more experience oriented. People are just wanting to live some life. And so I suspect, and again, they have come down a little bit. But we're going to need the consistency. Because uncertainty is what kills markets. And even though oil's down 5% to $80 a barrel today, we'll bomb again Wednesday and it'll go back up. As long as there's uncertainty, that fuel price is not going to completely correct. Well, and when you get a big discount carrier like Spirit going out of business, maybe depending on the market you're in, that can all, I mean, that does a. They went a long way to bringing down airfares and the markets they serviced. Well, President Trump canceled the big attack on Iran, citing progress in negotiations. Negotiations they deny. We'll be back in the third hour with that story. Can't have your morning show without your voice. To Arizona, we go in Woody. Morning, Michael. Thank God for armed civilians. In Twin Falls, it was reported that it was an off-duty police officer and an armed civilian that confronted the guy. or it could have been much worse. So when things like this happen, it reminds you, you have to be armed to protect you and your family. You cannot rely on the police to be there when you need them. Well, the police can't be everywhere, right? And as far as our constitutional right goes, we have the right to bear arms. It is our right to first and foremost protect ourselves, our family and our property. Now, I believe in police too. But I can be the first on the scene as well. This was an off-duty armed police officer who happened to be there were a lot more people would have died. Jim's in Mesa, Arizona, to an Arizona. On the sound clip you played a few minutes ago, the gentleman said that. The fault with all of this is in our education system. He said something that I've been really saying for years. The left tries to explain everything by racism. I choose to blame everything on failure to understand economics 101. Kenny's in St. Louis. Kennedy Jr. was on CNN with Dana Bush bash this weekend, and here's how their exchange over COVID went. But you're just, you're talking about rights, and I'm asking about a potential public health crisis that is coming. But I do want to, let's. And one of the mistakes we made in the last time was suppressing those rights so people weren't being heard. Doctors who are saying you're doing it wrong. We're being marginalized and vilified. Yeah. Because, again, I really want to move on. Oh, I bet you do. You were saying, you are, yes, I do. Because you were part of the problem. No, I wasn't part of the problem. Yeah, there was absolute press malpractice. You weren't allowing your job. Mr. Secretary, your job is a fierce skepticism toward authority. And you weren't doing that. You are beating. My job is also. No.

Okay, are you going to, you want to sit here and attack me or do you want to have conversations about public health? I'm not attacking you. I was very uncomfortable to listen to, but my takeaway is if you think Anthony Fauci was the only deceiver, first of all, I'm hoping America can see the role Anthony Fauci played, his conflict of interest, his involvement with gain of function, with that very Wuhan lab, how he misled president and Congress and governors and the American people. Yeah, you need to see Anthony Fauci, but you've got to see beyond that. The role the governors played, the role the president played, the role that state legislatures played, and of course the role the media played, and corporate America. It was all of the above. And so far, the only thing you're even sniffing out is Anthony Fauci. David Sinati's our senior contributor, and he's joining us from an undisclosed location this morning by phone, but don't let that distract you. How significant is this exchange? Good morning, Michael. Morning. Well, it's very, it's very significant. And your comment that you just made is very significant. I would especially say for the new friends we're visiting this morning in Orlando on your morning show. I was in Orlando listening to County Mayor Jerry Demings dictate reality to Disney and thousands of employees across Central Florida as if he was the dictator of all reality. When it would open, when it would close, when you had your mask up, when you could swallow, when you could breathe. Now, I think Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is doing a fantastic job. I think taking on Dana Bash is exactly the right thing to do. And I'm really sick and tired of journalists who have never, by and large, most of them have never held a job other than a pencil in their hands or a keyboard at their fingers. They've never signed the front of a paycheck. And they have no idea what it's like to actually grind out reality telling. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. that he doesn't know what he's talking about when he spent his entire life on these kinds of issues. Yeah, I see the same look in her face I get from a gubernatorial candidate here in Tennessee that anybody that, you know, dare ask a question or hold accountable gets that stare like they're above it. Do you think I'm right in fearing that if America gets Anthony Fauci and then thinks, oh, well, there's the justice case closed. Boy, you missed. A president, governors, legislatures, media, world health organizations, CDC, or how about the fact the gain of function is still happening? Well, you know, I'm still chuckling about the fact that you and I were laughing over the fact that an Italian was before Congress pleading the fifth, as if we haven't ever seen that act before. And only as Italians, can we say that out loud? But I think Anthony Fauci's probably, the most justice we've seen is silence, and that's it's we're ever going to see.

prosecuting secretary or dr fouchy any farther is is really uh it is it is a profound amount of wasted time because he's 85 years old there'll be appeals till he's 95 years old it's it's just look they got away with it and i agree with dana bash we should go forward and what we should go forward is to make sure that they never get away with it again Well, if you don't go forward with journalism being journalism rather than what it's become in the back pocket of one party that's dying, if you move forward with true education at the common level and higher education level, if you move forward with state legislators being held accountable by their voters in their state. I don't even know how you move forward with the World Health Organization, the CDC. I've said this many times, and I don't mean this is a slam. It's nothing personal. But I have lost trust with my own doctor, let alone the hospital he's affiliated with, let alone the CDC, let alone the World Health Organization, let alone every Secretary of Health other than this one. So, I mean, I don't know. You know, you can lose trust in a split second, David, but it may take generations to gain it back. Oh, and moving forward doesn't mean that we're going backwards to the same ridiculous false trust that we placed. And of course, we have the luxury of false trust. Because we haven't seen something like what we experienced in COVID since 1918. And Michael, to tell you how ridiculous it is, here's what I mean by not moving forward, by not going backwards, but that we have to change. We have to change from the bottom up. In the state of Ohio, we faced a governor and a director of health that were maniacal. They were dictatorial, just like we and I experienced in Tennessee. And the only way we ever came those people was by taking the legislature against them three times. by people rallying into the state legislature and three times overriding the governor's actions to find that the governor gave up and realized he could do the tutorial stuff he was doing. And then we went into the court system on behalf of little restaurants that they couldn't defend themselves. We raised the funding and put the lawyers up and we went to court and we stopped them. We have to rebel from the bottom up and stop nonsense in that regard. We have to go back to finding doctors that we can trust. Get out of the big systems. Go to the concierge doctors, find doctors that will tell you the truth and speak to you truthfully. And we have to wake up and take the health care system back from the bottom up. If we do that, it'll be a whole new day. David Zanati, joining us our senior contributor, U.S. Senator from Ohio turned his attacks on Anthony Fauci towards his ex-son-in-law. The family feud became public in Ohio. That's what we were going to talk about. You really don't think it's worth our time. Why? Well, I think it is worth our time, but not the way most people are talking about it. And that's in this regard. It's sad. It happens people fall down all the time. There's issues there that are embarrassing, difficult, and shouldn't be processed in public. But it just goes to show our inability to mind our own business.

And everything that happens now has got to be a federal investigation and has got to be this, that, and the other thing. Look, this is a messy situation. I don't even want to know any more about it because it's not my business. But if it all comes out, it all comes out. But politics is local, Michael. And this is going to be what determines a race in this congressional district. This happens to be the guy that's involved is my congressman. You better believe I'll be watching and reading it. Hey, Michael, I heard last week, I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that Ukraine had a drone that for the first time ever killed an enemy without the command of a person. If this is true, what stops the drone from deciding it likes the enemy better than you? Yeah, that would be troubling. I'll keep an eye out for that story. Well, just weeks after the death of Lindsey Graham. A much anticipated debate is now the focus of the Republicans in South Carolina, which became the focus of our White House correspondent, John Decker, who is in South Carolina for the big debate. John, good morning. Hey, good morning. I'm in Columbia, South Carolina. And the big debate is tonight. It's one hour long. And a lot of attention is going to be on the person who has replaced Lindsey Graham. That is his sister, Darlene Graham. She is a political novice. She's never run for political office before. So so many people will be introduced to her tonight. She, of course, has the endorsement of President Donald Trump. That counts for a lot, as you know, Michael. But having said that, you know, Lindsey Graham wasn't exactly beloved in this home state of South Carolina. He was respected, but, you know, that kind of love that we sometimes see for some politicians. That's not something that people used to describe Lindsey Graham. Yeah, we don't know. I see a lot of commercials, and I'm sure you do wherever you're at right now. Right. Most of ours are about congressional races and or the governor's primary. And it's just a, you know, can't bring up God, can't bring up guns.

Can't bring up Trump enough. God guns Trump. That's all they want to say. And everybody claims to, if they don't have the endorsement of the president, they play a clip of the president saying something about them and use it as an endorsement. So yeah, you're right. That's a lot. How big of a deal is the unknown? You know, never mind how Lindsey Graham was perceived at home. What do they know about his sister? I mean, what is her background? What are her qualifications? And in this debate, will she make it about her brother or her? I think she has to do a combination of both. Well, you're right. She does. At the same time, she wants to differentiate herself from her late brother. You know, I asked President Trump last week in the Oval Office on Wednesday, will Darlene Graham, based upon your conversations, will darling Graham, the new senator from South Carolina, who's running now for a six-year term, will she focus on foreign policy like her brother or focus on domestic issues? And the president. didn't miss a beat. He said domestic issues. She's going to focus on affordability issues. And I think that that is a smart move on the part of Darlene Graham. And she needs to stress that in this debate that will take place this evening. Well, yeah, because unlike her brother, she didn't serve. Unlike her brother, that, you know, he spent decades. You know, I go back, the things that history misses. If you go back in time, do you know who the two champions of the Cold War were in the Senate? Richard Nixon and John F. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. And everybody forgets how they work together against communism. And so, you know, that's something that was very much Lindsey Graham. I mean, the cruel way I could say it is, his sister simply doesn't understand foreign policy like her brother does. She may understand from a business standpoint and being a citizen standpoint, affordability. So, I mean, it would definitely be within that strength. But that is something that's going to be lost in Lindsey Graham. and not replaced by his sister. Great point. That's right. That's right. So let's just talk about the people that are competing for this Republican nomination. The election, the primary election is next Tuesday. So not much time to campaign. We have Congressman Ralph Norman, Congressman Russell Fry, a businessman named Mark Lynch and former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. He's obviously well known maybe for not the right reasons. But in any case, they're all competing and they're likely going to focus on the fact that they don't believe that Lindsey Graham's sister, Darlene Graham, has what it takes to be the next senator. To be a senator for six years is not qualified, as you put it. But she'll come back and say, look. I'm qualified enough to get Donald Trump's endorsement. Let's not forget that. And Donald Trump counts for a lot in Republican presidential priorities. John Decker, our White House correspondent, joining us. There was a day that the path to being a United States center meant you were a governor and non-presidential material. So you became a senator. Or you served in the House and you naturally progressed. Or you were of some kind of...

statewide notoriety or leadership that could get you there. I mean, that was the path. But that all changes in a social media world, let alone the shirts and skins world. A Donald Trump endorsement could be enough. You're on the ground. What's the feeling on the ground? Is there a lot at stake in tonight's debate and, you know, first impression versus last impression in all those conversations? Or does this look like the president's dream might be short-lived? Well, I think that for Darling Graham, she needs to make a good impression, number one. Number two, you need to get 50% or above in this primary that will take place next Tuesday. And I don't think anybody's going to get 50% or above. So there's going to be a runoff. So for her... And everybody else, the goal is to be the top two finishers to make that runoff, which will be on August the 25th. So this is a very short campaign for everybody involved. And that's the reason why to get to your question, Michael, it is such an important debate tonight to make that first impression for so many out there. Because with the exception of her name, notice she drops the third name. Now she's just Graham. But yeah, with the exception of her name and her brother. There's no notoriety whatsoever. There's a blank slate and only four weeks to fill it with something worth voting for. Very tough challenge for her. And the president in South Carolina. Okay, the president is claiming he called off one of the biggest strikes ever on Iran. They knew it was coming. They could see it. And now they're talking again as they deny that they're talking. I mean, Iran, of course, denying the talks are ongoing. But oil's down to $80 a barrel, so that's good. Well, that's good. You know, it's been on again, off again, on again, off again, you know, in terms of diplomatic talks with Iran, now they're on again. You never know. You never know what's going to happen. I think we're going to see this whole process play itself out, on again, off again, all the way through the November elections. The Iranians are no dummies. They know that they can impact. to a certain extent what happens in the midterm elections. John Decker, of course, does a podcast every day called the White House briefing room with John Decker. The U.S. is pausing attacks on Iran in hopes of reaching a deal. Iran, of course, denies the talks are even happening. Mark Mayfield has our deja vu Groundhogs Day top story. President Trump says he agreed to a request by Iran and other Middle East countries, subject to getting a deal done that would include reopening the Strait of Hormuz. I said, what would you rather do? Would you rather have us do this or not? They said, we would much prefer a deal as opposed to an attack. Trump spoke on Air Force One about things on Sunday. In the post on truth social, Trump noted the deal would include the immediate, complete, and total opening of the Hormuz Strait and an end to Iran's nuclear threat. The statement came after the State Department urged Americans in the region to consider leaving or be prepared to depart on short notice, citing possible escalation in the conflict. I'm Mark Mefield. A family feud has gone national. Senator Ernie Marino of Ohio says the Ohio Congressman Max Miller should not serve in the House of Representatives. That happens to be his ex-son-in-law. This comes following allegations of abuse made by Moreno's daughter against Miller. Police reports obtained by ABC News detail accusations of physical abuse and threats during their marriage. In a post on ex, Moreno said Miller needs serious psychological help and is a danger to his daughter. Miller has denied allegations and has stated that he's staying in the race. I'm Lisa Carton. FIFA's dropping its plan to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. Scott Carr has more.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to raise $20 billion by selling stakes to outside investors sparked a massive backlash, including a vote by the European Soccer's governing body to boycott all FIFA events, including the World Cup. On Friday, Infantino confirmed a deal with a group led by Joshua Jared Kushner. The brother of President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is dead. I'm Scott Carr. is planning to take a break from the spotlight, the 33-year-old pop star, and actress is currently in the midst of her Eternal Sunshine Tour. Once it wraps in September, a rep says Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility. Notice the word, visibility. A statement released over the weekend goes on to say that she looks forward to finishing her tour, ending it on a high note, and then taking a much-deserved break from public facing work. and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny. We all lived Karen Carpenter, for some of us that are older, together. We lived Elvis together. We lived a lot of John Belushi, Chris Farley, these pending train wrecks in slow motion. Anyone who takes a look at Ariana Grande would say that that's not natural, that that doesn't look healthy. I mean, there is thin. And then there's what that is. A lot of people really love her talent and are really concerned for her well-being. And I don't know that hiding makes that any safer. Still no big winner in the Powerball. Nobody matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing. So the Powerball rolls over to Monday night when the jackpot will be worth an estimated $748 million. A recent Wallet Hub study ranked 182 of the U.S. largest cities based on the happiness of residents using factors like income, mental well-being, physical health, and social connections. It found the five happiest cities in the U.S. are Fremont, California, Bismarck, North Dakota, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Fargo, North Dakota. Other cities that ranked highly are Madison, Wisconsin, Portland, Maine, and Columbia, Maryland. I'm Lisa Taylor. A lot of liberal places in there. Guardian shut out the debacks 5-0. Angels 3 Zip blanked the Brewers. Tigers 11 to nothing pounding the A's. Padres 5'4, the only close game of the day against the Giants. And the Dodgers lost 8 to 4 to the Red Sox. There, you know, I only watch the Indiana fever. There's just something about, and I don't know what it is. I, you know, obviously I love Sophie Cunningham. You know, probably one of the face of the league, Caitlin Clark. But it's just, it's a great high-end brand of basketball. And then they played Minneapolis or I don't know if they go by Minnesota, the Lynx, which are the number one team in the WMBA. It was a great game. Both teams scored over 100 points. It was really, really a great basketball game. The head coach of the links wore a T-shirt basically speaking towards. Sophie Cunningham saying that the trans belong trans children belong it's always children too they always do that but okay belong where the point is even if you think a biological male belongs in a female locker room that's still your opinion and it's no higher than Sophie Cunningham's

I mean, there is a battle taking place. Thanks to Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham and Mitchell and that entire great basketball team and some of the other great teams, everybody's interested in this league and they're sabotaging it. It's absolutely disgusting. And what they're trying to make Sophie Cunningham stance into is really disgusting. She never said anything hateful, anything non-inclusive. Just about protecting women's sports to women. And I can't think of anything be a bigger kiss of death for the WNBA than have their first trans male playing in it.
