March Madness underway. I hope all of you are going to have an awesome weekend. I said that I would get to objectively great news, and that is the plan.

But let me fill you in on a couple of things out there in the event that you are just starting off your day hanging out with us. Iran, the situation continues to be basically what is the strategy to conclude it? Are we going to decide to be more aggressive and potentially go take Carg Island? Are we going to get more support from NATO and clean up in the Strait of Hormuz and allow oil and gas to be able to find its way through that straight? The price of oil, as I am talking to all of you, crude oil futures, right at $95.86, basically unchanged on the day. to a large extent, not changed very much so far during the course of the past couple of weeks. The crude oil futures went up to $120. That's the one that is most impactful for the United States. Several weeks ago then fell back down substantially, and now it is right around $95, $96 and has not moved a great deal in terms of its final destination in the last several. days, really the last couple of weeks. But I wanted to give you some great news that is going to get almost no attention whatsoever. And I wanted to use as my jumping off point three different places where things are going spectacularly well and you are hearing very little about it. First of all, credit Wall Street Journal. They had a graphic this week in their newspaper that I shared, and it showed beyond a question or doubt. that the murder rate in this country hit a 125 year low in year one of President Trump's administration. That is last year, we had a hundred and twenty-five year low going all the way back to 1900. We had the lowest murder rate that we have ever had in this country. Now, if you're a history guy or gal, but if you're a history guy like me, The data that we have pre-1900 in this country on murders is not very reliable. But if you have studied rates of violence, for instance, if you know what used to happen in the so-called Wild West, that's pretty common for there to be shootouts. If you study history, you know that it was pretty common for there to be duels. I actually think we do not have the data to reflect it, but I actually think it is very likely that 2025 was the safest year in the history of the United States since we became a nation.

That is, I believe we had the lowest murder rate since we became a nation in 2025. What we know is that we had the lowest murder rate since 1900. And that to me feels like a pretty stellar, extraordinary detail. And yet we get almost no discussion about it at all. So that is point one. I give credit to the Wall Street Journal for carrying that story. Wanted to give you super positive stories. Okay. As I am speaking to you right now. Do you remember when President Trump surged support for law enforcement in Washington, D.C.? And everyone out there on the left said one of two things. Either Washington, D.C. is really safe. And I don't know why the president feels like he needs to do anything, right? That was one of the talking points that went out. And that was a lie. The data actually reflected that wasn't remotely true. The other talking point that went out was, well, yeah, sure, D.C. isn't that safe. But President Trump bringing in more support, National Guard, bringing in Judge Janine Piro to be the overall prosecutor, that's not going to have any real impact at all. You notice that nobody's talking about Washington, D.C. at all? I went and actually looked up the numbers, and I have them open in front of me right now. You can go look at this. It's on the Washington, D.C. website right now. Murder so far in 2026 are down 65% in our nation's capital compared to where they were last year. So let me repeat this. Last year. was the lowest murder rate in the nation. Overall murders collapsed in Washington, D.C. This year through, what is today, March 19th of 2026, murders are down 65%. Last year at this time, there had been 31 murders in Washington, D.C. So far right now, there have been 11 murders in Washington, D.C. We are coming up on the end of March. If you extrapolate these numbers, And I hope that this trend continues. Washington, D.C. is on pace to crush the lowest murder rate in the history of our nation's capital in the 250th anniversary of our nation. So everyone out there, one of the ways that you know things work is when the story doesn't get told anymore.

Remember when Trump first came into office and egg prices went up? And everybody out there. She hadn't seen it forever. Suddenly there was articles about how expensive eggs were. And they said, well, this is a response to a Biden policy where they killed a lot of different animals. And so we don't have the same number of eggs we would in the past. And then the price, and it's true, the price of eggs over the next three or four months collapsed. And I don't remember the last time I heard anybody talk about the price of eggs. So something is a story. And then when it gets better, it's not a story anymore. We have a huge bad news bias in this country. Venezuela was a huge story. You ever look around and say, wait, I haven't heard anything about Venezuela in a long time. We just reopened our embassy. They're going to produce more oil and gas than they ever have before. Our relationship with Delci Rodriguez and the government there has gotten infinitely better. And now nobody talks at all about Venezuela. Bad news bias means when good things happen, people just stop talking about them. This is why I said, I want to do the third hour. I actually want to tell you some good news stories. Some people say, I feel so negative. Well, 125 year murder low. That seems good. Maybe the lowest murder rate in the history of this nation and on pace for our nation's capital. Murders are down 65% since Trump surged support in the nation's capital. By the way, it's not just murders. Murders, we like to talk about Buck and I do on the program because it's kind of hard to hide typically a dead body. So you can finagle numbers and make them look better or worse if, for instance, you just don't report. That's something that a robbery happened or people are so frustrated, things get stolen so often they don't even bother going to the police. Sometimes crime is not accurately reflected in the data. And some of you have certainly experienced that. Murders is typically one where it's hard to hide. Okay. So 65% decline this year in murders. Washington, D.C. and the 250th anniversary of our nation is on pace for the lowest murder rate that's ever existed on record. Okay? Sex abuse, down 64% in Washington, D.C. Robbery, down 29% in Washington, D.C. Burglary, down 27% in Washington, D.C. How about this? Motor vehicle theft. Remember all the carjackings that were happening in Washington, D.C.? Down 55% over last year. Actual theft from auto. I don't know. Like robbing somebody from a car? Maybe that's down 36%. Property crime overall down 28%. Arson down 100%.

Everything in D.C. is getting infinitely better. How many reporters have you heard talk about the data that I am reading directly off the D.C. government website that monitors all crime. This is not incredibly difficult investigatory reporting work that I'm doing here. I'm just sharing with you the data. It's not only Washington, D.C. It's not only our nation. In my home state of Tennessee, Memphis, where also the overall amount of support for police surged as well, is reporting a 25-year low, a 25-year low overall in the crime rate in Memphis, Tennessee. Guys, I want to tell you something. We are potentially dealing with and facing. One of the greatest attacks on violent crime nationwide that has ever occurred in the history of this country. And we are staring here as we roll into the end of March at a situation where we may be replacing the lowest murder rate on history in 2025 with an even lower murder rate in 26. And almost nobody's talking about it. Doesn't that seem like something that should be screamed from the heavens? Shouldn't everyone out there who claimed Black Lives Matter be saying, my goodness, Donald Trump has saved more Black lives by cracking down on violence than any president in the history of this nation? You said, what do you mean by that, Clay? That people who are killed in this nation are overwhelmingly Black and Hispanic. The percentages reflect that white people and Asian people are far less likely to be victims of violent crime. So if you look at Washington, D.C., where almost everybody, for instance, who dies of a violent crime in Washington, D.C., almost everybody in Washington, D.C., is black. Just this year, compared to last year, Trump and his policies and everybody working hard would have probably saved 20 lives compared to last year. And by the end of this year, there are going to be hundreds of mostly young men that likely would have been dead but for President Trump's policies walking the streets. That seems like a hell of a story. Deserving of celebration. Heck, it even sounds like we may be making America greater than it's ever been before. We're not just making it great again. We're making it greater than it's ever been before. It's safer from a murder perspective in this country today than maybe at any point in the last 250 years and certainly at any point in the last 125 years. Holy heck, that's a hell of a story. Why is nobody else telling it? Ah, because President Trump would have to get credit then. It's not just the stories that are told. It's the stories that are not told. And a lot of them are very good and ignored. When we come back, I'll take some of your calls. It is, after all, a Friday edition of the program. And they are now in overtime. And they just had an unbelievable final 10 seconds with three different. Three different scores. So anyway, craziness going on right now. And she said, thought it was important to just school the girls on why we are doing what we're doing in Iran. This is cut 34. Listen. We all agree at the table at least that. Iran wants to destroy America, right? They chant death to America. That's been a cornerstone of their foreign policy forever. Are they the only ones? I mean, North Korea would like that. No, but they're the, they're pretty bad. They're pretty bad. They're pretty bad. That's been an indoctrination of Iran. The majority of Americans do oppose this war, but go ahead. Okay, number two, let's all try to agree on these points. Number two, they have been for decades.

trying to make a nuclear weapon, a weapons-grade nuclear facility. Whether it was imminent, whether it's tomorrow, we can all agree they've been trying to do this. We can also agree that it was obliterated, apparently, last year. Clearly not. The other thing we can all agree on, I think, is they have long-range missiles and that they fund terrorists that have killed Americans. Now, all of that is why we are in this war. It is a strategic opportunity so that our children do not have to face... the greatest state sponsor of terror being a nuclear power. Pretty well said. And the view, I mean. pointing out that there's actually a massive amount of agreement prior to Trump deciding to do this. And we'll talk about that in the context of John Fetterman here coming back in a second. But this is what you just missed. It sounds like the Kentucky Wildcats are going to survive based on the way that this went down. This just happened. It is March Madness. My kids were screaming downstairs. Listen to this. or potentially starts to caucus with Republicans if he's going to plan on running for re-election. I think it could be. And by the way, that's Harry Inton. That was CNN, the audio that we were playing. Let's take some of your calls. It is Friday, after all. Linda in Green Valley, Arizona, what you got for us? Well, Clay, I think I have a solution to the TSA problem. What we need to do is we need to supplement where we're missing out on TSA agents who can't afford to work for us anymore. We need to bring in ICE agents and fill in, and I think that that would push the Democrats to sign the Homeland Security bill. I think it would set their hair on fire. But, I mean, you know, we're already paying for... It's actually really a funding. They're already funded. So they're part of Homeland Security as long as with TSA. And I think we just need to bring in the ICE agents and fill in. And I also agree that the senators and congressmen need to wait in line. Thank you for the call. Linda, I'm going to say it's kind of a brilliant idea. Now, I'm sure the TSA agents out there listening to us would say, well. There's training that ICE agents would have to go through to be able to function as TSA agents, right? You have to be trained in order to sit there and analyze the bags going through all the x-ray and everything else associated with it. So there is some element of training, but... Are there jobs that the TSA does that could easily be given to ICE agents? It's actually a really great question. Now, the other part of this would be, I'm sure people would say, well, the ICE agents are necessary in order to be able to arrest the people who shouldn't be in this country, particularly those who committed violent crimes, and we don't want to pull them out of that job to put them on. a comparatively less serious job. But what Linda is correct about is the ICE agents are being fully paid. And so if we started to supplement when the TSA agents were not there with ICE agents, oh my goodness, Democrats would go absolutely insane. That's not a bad, not a bad thesis there. Wes out in California. What's up, Wes? I am absolutely livid with the American people about the attack in Iran. We need to go in. We need to take care of business and get the job done. We could be setting up military bases in there. We could be paid back to oil, and we can finally free those Iranian people. They've been oppressed for so long. So you want, Wes, what people would, sorry to cut you off, but so you want boots on the ground, how many boots on the ground?

Yes, sir. How many? It does all have to the Americans. We can get a coalition. I get that, but we're having trouble with NATO. We're having trouble with NATO helping us now. A lot of people out there would say, in this audience, I'm okay with military raining down missiles with drones, but because of what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. I draw the line, meaning a lot of people in this audience, I think it's fair to say, would draw the line and say they'd prefer not to have boots on the ground. So I'm asking you how many boots on the ground? Because I do think there's a distinction. If we seize Carge Island, for instance, and let's say that takes 2,500 highly trained Marines to do, that's one thing. And it's a short duration designed to bring about peace. But... Are you saying you want tens of thousands of troops on the ground? What to you does boots on the ground mean? I don't think it would take that many. You have the majority it appears of the Iranian people that want to help. You know, they just really need to go in as advisors and just get the job done. Look, thank you for the call. The challenge I think people have with that is we were all told this would be an easy maneuver in Iraq. Remember everybody tried to sell the neocons did. Oh, there's a huge support. A lot of people want a Democrat Iraq. All we have to do is just have the backbone of support. And then it was a disaster. And it cost us trillions of dollars and thousands of men and women were injured. and or killed. And so as a result, it was an awful choice. And I think that's the reticence now. My point would be, I think Trump has learned the lessons of Iraq and knows better than to end up in an intractable never-ending occupation. I don't think he's going to do that. To me, If you want to try to accelerate the situation, you would seize Carged Island where the oil and gas of Iran emanates 15 miles off the coast of Iran and say, hey, we now control your oil supply. you're either going to listen to us or we're going to control the ingress and egress of your oil and gas. To me, that's an aggressive play that actually has some logical sense, but it's not an occupation of the country proper. It's an island off the coast of Iran. That's where I think we might be going next. Ashley, in South Carolina, fire away. I'm caller, long-time listener since I listened to Rush as a kid in my dad's car. Well, thank you. I want to start off by saying that I think you with the goatee is much more attractive than the mustache. But I also have a question, going back to the shutdown. What genius decided to punish the people who are hard workers versus Congress who just can't seem to do their job? I mean, I agree with you that they should be the ones losing their paychecks versus...

you know the people who are actually working hard every day thank you for the call actually and thank you for listening and uh and for listening for a long time Look, this is Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries TSA decision. Taking you back in time, there was an agreement on funding the government. It was all set in place. There was no controversy associated with it. It was ready to roll. And then, Preti and Good in Minneapolis died. And as a result, governments, the Democrats decided we're not going to fund TSA. Remember, ICE is already funded. They said, we're not going to fund TSA in other parts of the government. And then the TSA agents are essential workers. So they are forced to work without being paid. Now, eventually they're going to be paid. This is worse than the past shutdowns to me because in the past shutdowns, you didn't have to show up. And lots of people just said, okay, I'll see you. And they didn't show up for a month. And some of them went on vacation. And they knew that eventually they were going to get paid. And they basically just got. a paid month or months long vacation from their jobs, that's not somebody who's actually losing out. The TSA agents have to show up. They're essential workers and they're not being paid. And what Ashley is just pointing out is I think 100% right. To me, everyone, unfortunately, this would include Republican and congressmen and senators on the Republican side too. But I think we have to set the precedent that when the government is shut down, no one gets paid in Congress. And I think what you would see happen very, very quickly is Republicans and Democrats would find a way to keep the government open no matter who is in charge. And the people who are busting their ass and not getting paid very much money, again, the average TSA agent makes $40,000 a year. If you have ever been, it certainly I've been in that situation where you make $40,000 a year and you've got kids and you've got a car payment and you may have rent or a house payment. and you've got all the cost of groceries and everything else, and you're not getting your paycheck, it's hard to live. And so that is where we are. And unfortunately now, in addition to the TSA agents, everybody out there, everybody out there is now having to stand in line for hours because TSA agents, many of them are quitting. Over 300 is the number that I've seen. and deciding to go find other jobs or they're not showing up for work because they have to go do other things that will allow them to pay their bills. Joe in Arizona quickly here as we get ready for break. I just wanted to point something out. I spent my time to listen to the Coast Guard. And I'm telling you, if we didn't get paid, we weren't going to go home. We weren't going to find another job. We signed a contract. We were there.

getting paid or not. And we didn't all eat on a base. Coast Guard is primarily not affiliated with a base anywhere. I just wanted to let the audience know that. Yeah, thank you for the call. I mean, I don't think TSA agents have contracts. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think they signed contracts. I think if you're making, most people who make $40,000 a year don't have contracts. And I would just ask people out there, if you didn't get paid for a month, how many of you would keep going to your job? I think a lot of people would say, I've got to find something new to do. And by the way, this is not the first time this has happened to TSA agents. What is this? The third time or something like that in the last couple of years where they haven't gotten paid and been required to work, I'm going to be honest with you. I would be, I would be fed up. I would be frustrated. My credit card bill, when I'm taking on more interest to be able to pay things, if I even have the limit to be able to do that. It's just this is a failure of epic proportions and epic magnitude. Democrats are to blame, but we need to fix it once and for all. And I think one way to fix it would be to say Democrats and Republicans don't get paid and their staffs don't get paid when any part of the government shuts down. This is a ridiculous ploy that has become far too common. And I think we need to work to find a solution that ends it once and for all.
