Trump Spirals As MAGA Allies Turn on Him

So you may have seen this huge headline from The New York Times yesterday. Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene say they are done with the GOP. And before you get worried that I'm going to be spending our time together today talking about why I think this is some spectacular evidence of more civil war amongst the Republican Party. I mean, which I do think it is evidence of. I wanted to kind of speak on a little bit more of a nuanced issue involving what I think is a strategic plan by people like Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Megyn Kelly, and others. Strategic to benefit them financially, right? I mean, we all know that Tucker Carlson and Megan... Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, they all have presences on digital, YouTube, et cetera, platforms, right? Marjorie Taylor Greene has left Congress, albeit way wealthier than when she entered Congress, but she's also kind of venturing out into the world of book and appearances or whatever. I mean, this is all for profit and gain for these people, but... It doesn't hurt somebody like Tucker Carlson, who currently denies having political ambitions. It doesn't hurt him to be so public about his rift from the GOP. Now, what neither Marjorie Taylor Greene nor Tucker Carlson does, and if you caught it, kudos to you, they don't say. what they really mean to say, which is they're, quote, done with this version of the GOP, the MAGA version of the GOP, Trump's GOP. You count it? Because when they say that they're done with Trump's version of the GOP, it really does mean they're still Republicans. I mean, let's be clear. Neither of them has said that they're becoming a Democrat, let alone even an independent, right? So politically homeless, if you will, Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene are just capitalizing on the fur that is created from them being so shockingly, you know, open. And obvious about splitting from the GOP, but they're not really splitting, are they? But let's talk about it because I think it's worth it. Because I do have a theory, and I think it's less conspiracy theory and more, again, a strategy, that Tucker Carlson could run for president of the United States in 2028. Seems like a no-brainer to me. He has a built-in multi-millions of people following. He has the financial wherewithal to do it. He has name recognition. He has brand recognition. And like I just said a couple of minutes ago, all he would have to do is say that he's not MAGA. Because as we hear him say in an interview that is making the rounds right now, he thinks that MAGA is an imprecise word with an imprecise definition. So that he is the true, make America great again patriot, he's just not.

for this version of the Republican Party. All right. So I want you to take a listen to what Tucker Carlson had to say. about the GOP. He pretty much says that Republicans are not loyal to the United States. And he justifies why this is such a big deal for him to say that he's done with the GOP. Take a listen. Well, the poll numbers now are, you know, tell a pretty clear story about it. I would not support the Republican Party. There's no chance I would support the Republican Party. I'm not going to support the Democratic Party. I don't know what I'm going to do. But at this point. You know, how could you support, how could I or any American voter support a political party that's not loyal to the United States that puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens? Like, that's, that's, you know, it's not possible to vote for people like that. And I'm not going to. And I think I voted Republican my entire life. I worked at Fox News, CNN, MSNBC. I've been a consistent defender for 35 years of the Republican Party. I mean, very consistent defender. But there's no defending this because it's immoral. And it's exactly the opposite of what a political party in a democracy is charged with doing, which is representing its own voters, its own citizens, its own nation. And they're not doing that. So no, I'm out. And if I'm out. then I think a lot of other people are out. Okay. So like I said, Tucker Carlson saying that Republicans are not loyal to the United States. He says he's been a 35-year staunched offender of the Republican Party, but that it's now immoral, which is a fascinating adjective to use, right? Because immorality is such, such an easy brand recognition with Donald Trump. Right. So Tucker Carlson says it's immoral to defend the Republican Party now because the Republican Party is exactly the opposite of a political party in a democracy. Okay. I mean, this is really strong language coming for Tucker Carlson, but we all know that he traffics in strong language. He is, for all intents and purposes, the equivalent of a shock jock, right? Do you remember how outraged some people were and shocked about Howard Stern, his language, his approach? That's yawn, yawn material now, right? Because people keep pushing the limits. of shock and awe when it comes to getting viewers and subscribers and followers. And Tucker Carlson is not immune to that. And so it's important because this is how Tucker Carlson says, I'm still a Republican at heart. He says 35 years, staunch and consistent defender of the party. Yeah.

the version of the Republican Party that he would run for president for. That would be his version of the Republican Party, not the MAGA version of the Republican Party, which is truly a Trump-branded thing. Now, Tucker Carlson goes on in this same interview to answer the question about what does MAGA mean for him now. And I want you to listen to his description of what he thinks make America great again, MAGA. means. What is your definition today of what MAGA now means? I never understood it. I mean, I think there was a strong latent desire in the hearts of a lot of Americans to improve the country, make America great again. So on a literal level, you know, people wanted that. They still want it. I still want it. But it was imprecise by design. So the phrase America first, however, which has kind of been retired, you don't hear that very often, is precise. Just put your own country first as you make decisions as a leader of your country. And that's very obvious. It's hard to imagine that any leader would use any other standard to make decisions. Of course, just like a father makes decisions. What's best for my family? You know, a leader has to make decisions on the same basis. They don't use that anymore because, of course, they're making decisions on the basis of other criteria. What's best for this company? What's best for Israel? What's best for our donors? I mean, you know, I just want to say again, that's unacceptable. That's not just like they're off in the wrong direction. Like, that is unacceptable. That's treasonous. It's immoral. It can't continue. You can't have a government that calls itself Democratic, a Democratic Republican in our case, that is representing interests. Outside the country. Okay. So again, this gives Tucker Carlson the wiggle room to perhaps run for president of the United States. Because he says Maga was imprecise by design. Make America great again could be a democratic slogan for what it's worth, but for the fact that Donald Trump has perverted it, abused it, and made it something that we want to spit on and piss on. So Manga, no. But the idea of putting America first, yeah. And again, us saying normal people that truly understand what a Democratic Republic is all about, we don't want isolationist policies, we don't want to put America first to the detriment of and the harm of others. But what Tucker Carlson is saying is Donald Trump has lost his way. And he says that it is now treasonous and immoral to support Trump's version of MAGA. So we're back again to the moral values assessment, the use of morality and values to distinguish somebody like Tucker Carlson from somebody like Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. This is now the second time we've heard him use the word immoral in the span of Some few minutes, right? And then he uses the word treason. He goes so far as to suggest that support of Maga and the Republicans, right, this current iteration of the Republicans that are in power, that it would be treasonous to do so. Treason, a crime punishable by death. Again, extreme shock jock kind of language.

But it's intentional, is it not? It's a bid by Tucker Carlson to distance himself even further than this current iteration of the Republican Party. Now, later on in the same interview, Tucker Carlson is flat out asked by the host of this show if he is going to run for president of the United States. I'm not going to hijack his words. I want you to listen to what his answer was when it was posed to him. Take a listen. Let me ask you this then. You clearly feel that the United States right now is going in the wrong direction. You have a massive following. Candice Owen says that she wants you to run for president. Marjorie Taylor Greene said that she would support you. Scott Galloway says that there's a lane open for you. So if you are this passionate about where the country is going, why not run for even as an independent? If you say that, you know, the Republican Party is not your party anymore. I mean, I would say most just about the Republican Party. Yeah. I have zero interest running for president, just to be totally clear. I'm not a politician. That's not what I do. I've never sought power over other people ever in my personal or public life ever. I'm just not interested in it. I have a lot of sinful impulses. I eat too much. I have a bad temper, you know, whatever. They're obvious. None of that precludes from being president. No, no, it doesn't. But a prerequisite for being president, at least historically, has been the desire to have power over other people. So Tucker Carlson claims for now, it's still pretty early, is it not? It's only June of 2026. Tucker Carlson claims for now that he, quote, has no desire to run for president of the United States. Oh, so flattered. But no, no, thank you. No aspirations. Wink, wink, right? He claims in large part because he has no desire to have, quote, power over people. And yet, I would submit to you, dear friends, that I think if there is anyone who is power hungry that wants to have the ability to have power over people, it's somebody like Tucker Carlson. I mean, it's pretty much why he does what he does. And it's also why he's trying to be a leading voice in the anti-Trump, anti-Maga discourse. Let's talk about bras and specifically honey love bras. I don't want to exert power over the people. And yet don't be surprised when he steps forward later and says, oh, I'm here to save the people. I'm here because Donald Trump promised to do it, but he didn't. Don't take my words for it. Listen to what Tucker Carlson had to say about the average Republican voters that Tucker Carlson says that he loves, but that were betrayed by Donald Trump. I'm very worried about the country. And I will say that. of the people i mean i most republican voters most trump voters are great people my kind of people i live among them i live in a rural area most people voted for trump where i live they're the people he was you know charged with saving with helping the people who've been left behind he and where do all those people go then where to like if i don't know that's a That's a great question. So I want to say when I dislike the Republican Party, I love average Republican voters. I've been one my whole life. They're my neighbors and friends and relatives. But the Republican Party in Washington. is just completely out of control. I don't share their values on any level. Their personal values, the way they live, greedy, bizarre, bizarreo, sex lives, loyal to a foreign country above the United States. It's like everything I dislike. And so I just really find, beginning with the Speaker of the House, Speaker Mike Johnson,

and extending to the president and the leaders in the Senate. I mean, I have nothing in common with these people at all. I do not share their values. I find their priorities appalling. And so I'm just not going to participate in that party. Well, there you go. Ladies and gentlemen, Tucker Carlson just made my closing arguments for me. In my case, that Tucker Carlson. will run for president of the United States. Tucker Carlson says that he loves the average Republican voter. He hates Washington and he hates everybody in the Republican Party from Speaker Mike Johnson all the way to the United States Senate. And he's made it clear about his disgust and dislike for even Donald Trump in the Oval Office. It is an intentional use of the word average. Right? And look, he also says most Trump voters and most Republican voters, right? But he says that he loves the average Republican voter because he says that's who I am and that's who I've who I've been. And those are the people with whom I have a community. Because the average Republican voter. As Tucker Carlson is saying, is not the MAGA voter, is not the pro-pro-Trump MAGA voter. It's not that level of, quote, extreme republicanism. It is the, quote, average Republican who has been betrayed. And that's the words that Tucker Carlson is. In fact, Tucker Carlson has actually apologized for his own betrayal of the American people by supporting Donald Trump and what he thought were. America First Principles, but now Tucker Carlson is distancing himself and trying to establish himself as just a man of the people. Does that not sound familiar to you? Is that not what Donald Trump ran on, at least initially for the Trump term 1.0? I am a populist president, said Donald Trump. I am here for the forgotten. I am here to be a man of the people. When fundamentally, the man only wanted to go into office to further his own grift, graft, and corruption to benefit himself, his family, and his billionaire buddies. But Tucker Carlson is here to save the day. And lest you think that this is just some flight of fancy that has been kind of suggested by some random people, oh, no, no, there is a concerted effort to be able to promote and plant this seed now in 26 for a Tucker Carlson presidency. Take a listen to Candace Owens. when asked recently about Tucker Carlson becoming president of the United States. But in the short run, I really don't have an interest in running for office because there is just too much in authenticity. Also, you know, the great letdown of Trump. I would be interested in strongly getting behind someone like Tucker Carlson though. Would you? I would. And so I would love for him to run. And I would.

create the dynamic that me and Charlie had and run all over to help him get elected because he... And Tucker Carlson was also very fond and friendly with Charlie Kirk. He was. And to see him be one of the lone voices, I would also say Megyn Kelly, who told the truth about Charlie's shifting perspectives toward the end. Just only further committed me to the... And he's also at a great place in his life. His children are older. I would gratefully get behind someone. like Tucker Carlson. I mean, Candace Owens promising to give the same level of fervor, interest, and drive that she gave for Charlie Kirk when he was alive, she says she would do for somebody like Tucker Carlson. Now, Candace Owens being president at the United States, let's be very clear. That is not even a fly to fancy. That is just fantasy, period, right? But Tucker Carlson? Conservative white male? I mean, even Nick Fuentes, who is crazy, anti-Semitic, crazy white supremacist, whatever, you know, he hasn't gone so far as to endorse Tucker Carlson because I don't think Tucker Carlson wants that endorsement. But I think Nick Fuentes has made it clear that somebody like Donald Trump and everything that he stands for, right? that that doesn't work for him. Marjorie Taylor Greene, posting on Twitter the post you see on your screen right now. She says that she's splitting from the GOP, but she also has made it clear that she would support Tucker Carlson to become president of the United States. She said that she would fully be behind him if he did it. Look, this is not some coincidence at all. Again, I think it is driven by a reading of the polls and the approval numbers for Donald Trump and kind of going with the flow of what Tucker Carlson and even Megyn Kelly. Megyn Kelly stating, you know, her position on Donald Trump, her lack of support for him, joining in in this chorus of voices, Ben Shapiro, all saying that they don't support Trump. Now, I will say that this is definitely like, where's the wind taking me? Where's the current taking me energy? But I also don't think that it's a coincidence that there is now some repetition of messaging about the idea of Tucker Carlson running for the presidency. I used to think it was some random kind of theory that I had and yet as time has elapsed and as I kind of have been watching as I do what is happening across the way, I'm starting to feel less like it's a random thought that I'm having and more as a kind of definitive thing. Because even though Tucker Carlson espouses his support of JD Vance, he also in the same breath says that JD Vance is an impossible position as Vice President of the United States. And JD Vance will never be able to escape the taint of felon Trump. So if the pitch by Tucker Carlson is truly drain the swamp, truly fresh, new America first,

JD Vance doesn't stand a chance. JD Vance is too far entrenched in Maga. Now, this kind of gets us back to the beginning of this episode, which is, is this the true civil war then in the Republican Party? I've always said that Maga should be its own party. Maga should be its own party because it truly doesn't have any business being a part of a, quote, traditional two-party system. And if that's the case, could we see a Republican nominee in Tucker Carlson, a MAGA nominee in somebody radically even more extreme than Donald Trump, maybe what Nick Fuentes wants, which is Hitler, 28? Don't knock me for having these conversations. If you had told me that Donald Trump would be elected in 2016, let alone again in 2024, I would tell you years ago, I think you're crazy. I think there's room for crazy. I really do. And I think the pitch for Tucker Carlson is, I'm less crazy.
