225 segmentsWe have made it to Friday, and I am so glad that we got through this week. And we got over 100 degrees yesterday, 102. And I actually got in my pool, which I didn't expect to do in March. We had snow a couple years ago in March, so God only knows what's going on in the weather. And so I am so happy to, I've been looking forward to this day all week because not only are the Wildcats playing, their game starts at 1030. Actually, we will still be doing this show then, but I always love having this very special guest, Steve Munt, from Virginia. And I'm sure it wasn't 102 there yesterday, but I've heard it's been warmer there. So Steve, welcome back to win Tucson. Well, thank you so much for having me, Kathleen. And good, hey, listen, congratulations on the tournament, and we'll see what's happening. Alabama's still playing, so we'll see, although we lost the starting player. I don't know what you're doing with two pounds of marijuana. Oh, your player had two, Alabama had two pounds of marijuana. Yeah, the guy to get picked up, so. God bless America. You know, isn't that sad because you're at the top, probably something that it could change your life for the rest of your life and you squandered away for something like that. Like just dumb. Yeah. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. But Duke, if you were paying attention, almost lost. Like the number one seat. Yeah. And we're number two seats. So not that I was looking forward or happy about that or gloating at all. But they did win. No, surely not.
Hey, what can I say? And all your listeners, she's saying this with a straight face, just so you know. I want to win. I want to win, win, win, win. In Arizona, their first round game is today at 10.30 in San Diego against... Lung Island. So the thing I thought of you a couple times this week. So yesterday they were going on and on about how they're using Apache Tech helicopters to shoot down drones in Iran. You know, every time I hear Apache helicopters on my TV, I get a happy space. So how important is that right now? I know. And then they were talking about the war hog. You know, I know. So. The airplane that the Air Force keeps wanting to best ourselves of, but is probably the best airplane, not best platform, but best airplane for close air support and doing the kinds of things that's doing. So between the Apache and the Warthog, they're doing exceptionally well. And their piece is critical because it's trying to, one, locate where these drones are coming from, locate where the missiles are coming from. And when they do have an immediate effect, so that we can get the boundaries pushed back from the straighter hormones. I mean, nobody's saying, but we know the Marine, the 31st Mew is heading towards Card Island and the surrounding islands, and we've got to make sure that there are people that can just keep dropping bombs and drones on them. So it's going to be interesting. I think that the thing that was horrific yesterday was the killing of those three young men who had allegedly protest their stories out that they never really did. It was just the whatever's left of the regime setting an example. And I think the three young men, one was a bronze medal winner in wrestling. And they hung him. And did you see in the public square, to make an example, and did you see the Iranian women who just came back from Australia? Many of them were coerced. At least that's what the media is reporting. And I have a tendency to believe that, that their families were being threatened. And if you watch them come out of their quote unquote award ceremony, you don't see a single smile on their faces. No. No. The bad part is we were right weeks ago when you talked about, well, if you do this, what's regime change look like? And I said, we don't know. We don't know. I mean, there's a number of options of what could happen. But you're really taking out their ability to fight. You know, now you hear the administration, President Trump talking about we may have to put some boots on the ground. to get to the nuclear material of some of these other things that were buried that evidently have been trying to uncover. Mm-hmm. And then you hear Congress and you hear people in Congress say, well, I don't see a clear and eminent threat. Oh, for gosh. Are you kidding me? No, yeah, and the ISIS that goes. What is a clear and eminent threat? If I pull a gun and I'm pointed it at you, is that a clear and eminent threat? Because I don't understand their definition.
They don't understand their definition. Steve, this is just the every day that goes by, the more absurd that they become. It's just, and they're losing their audience. This insanity that they're doing is in reruns and the ratings are going down and they're going to be canceled. And parts of me want them. to do this, but then I look at the people at the airports. I look at the, there's allegedly there's no imminent threat. No, you've moved the imminent threat to your public transportation to your air. There's no rhyme or reason for what they're doing except they are so committed to their hatred of the president of the United States. It's not even, you know, it's not even, they're not even hiding it. They are blatantly not following the oath that they took of office. And look at the, you know, the airlines have said, we may not, they may just have to stop because it's dangerous. Like what they're doing is dangerous. If I'm the pilot's union, I'm pushing back on Congress. You're putting people at risk because you don't know. You don't have the system that you have at full capacity. And at a time when we've got heightened concerns in this country, we have to absolutely do the right thing. And we're not. And the Congress is embarrassing. Go ahead. Well, they are. But I mean, what you had thought two to five years ago, seriously, that John Fetterman would be the voice of reason in the Democratic Party? Isn't he great? No. He's great. I mean, he literally says it's not about party. It's about what's best for America. What's wrong? Wow, right? Exactly. Well, on that happy note, we're going to take a break. We're going to take a break. Okay. Is that time? We're going to land the plane on time. And we were TSA checked before we did that. So we're good. And they were still getting paid. All right. You are listening to 1030, the voice your trusted local news on. uh here on on win tucson i'm kathleen win my good friend steve don't go anywhere we'll be right back welcome back to win tson on this friday as we head into march madness for the uvea wildcats uh i am very happy and i hope i remain that way until the final floor and then the national championship i could use another t-shirt with wildcats on it i just got my uh uh Big 12 t-shirt in the mail yesterday saying that we were the champions of that. So I have a collection started. Why don't you get like a nice jacket? I know, I saw those. I have, you know, I don't have to just go with, like, T-shirts. You can actually get jackets. I have, well, number one, it was 102 yesterday. So how many times do we get to wear jackets here in Arizona? There was probably like four weeks. I have jackets from, I have jackets from the seventh grade still in my closet. You don't have air conditioning inside?
I don't wear jackets inside. It's not like basketball. It's not like basketball is being played outside. This is true. I do. I have a wonderful jean jacket that has Arizona. I love it. I love it. I have like six Arizona jackets, to be fair. I guess I could get a seventh one to complete the week, but. Yes, but there was a blazer now that you see, now we're doing a fashion show. There was a blazer online. It was white and had a cool A on the back and it was three-quarter sleeves and it was lovely. It was white and the logo was, you know, obviously we're red, white and blue, but it was, I think, a red A or... Anyway, it doesn't matter. It was cool. But I did not order it. It was like, you know, they get you impulse buying. And I think I'll order it, though, if they win all the way. Then I can have it. It'd be cool to have that. All right. I'm so glad we did that. I think that's great. By the way, by the way, after Duke stumbled, Arizona's now moved into the number one seed. In the country, like everyone gets how great we are. Yeah. Okay. You know, I have to say. Go ahead. Go ahead. No, no. Well, I'm making, I'm making deals with other people. So let's see if you make this deal. If Alabama goes out before Arizona. I will pull for Arizona. Okay. And then if in it, Arizona goes, then you have to pull for Alabama. Say roll tide. That's okay. Roll tide. I can do that. We like Alabama. We got lots of friends, Huntsville. Remember? I did time in Alabama, not in jail. I just had to spend a lot of time there with a lot of people. Redstone Arsenal. I can do Alabama. Okay. Okay. All right. So anyway. Now we'll move on to the important topic. Yeah, the good old days. So Secretary War Pete Hegseth, you know, insists that this is not about a regime change. And so, but that is really one of the things that's going to have to happen.
It seems like we're at a tipping point in that country that the, I'm going to call it the war effort, if you will. I don't like, I think that this is more of a conflict. It sounds to me like the allies, the European allies have woken up from their slumber and are now going to come to the table and help. If there's boots on the ground, does it have to be American boots on the ground? Or could it be other countries? Well, I mean, I guess you could always say it could be other countries. You know, there's a couple of things that happen. One is the Europeans kind of balked at the beginning. But, you know, and oh, by the way, at the same time that they're balking, they're starting to figure out they don't have the capability that they thought they had. So I think this is a good wake-up call. for all of them. At the same time, you have all of the Arab nations that want this war to continue, which is really something. But they recognize that the group right now in Iran, they don't care about anything. They're blowing up civilians, infrastructure, causing havoc. So they wanted to go. The question is, will they ever put boots on the ground? And if so, what's the military capability that they're going to be able to put in to do that? You know, there are options at the same time you've got, you know, Kurds fighting in the north. That's not necessarily a perfect solution because, you know, Syria, Turkey, everybody there has been fighting the Kurds and nobody will be happy if there is a Kurdistan except the Kurds. Yeah. So, I mean, there's just a lot of very fluid dynamics. I think the thing that most people are looking for, and this is the question is, can we, in fact, shape the environment, and that's really what we're doing, to allow the people to have a choice and that they can rise up, but rise up without fear of being gunned down in the streets. I mean, there's one thing to take a risk, but there's another thing that just, you know, blatant commit suicide because you go out to protest against this government. I will tell you the intelligence that really gets me excited right now is the number of people out of Iran that are making connections with the Israelis and others to tell them where the Iranian Republican Guard are and the leadership. And the Israelis have actually been calling them and saying, by the way, we know you're in this building. And I think you ought to go to the people's side. And if you don't, you're going to join Kamini. Wow. And they're literally, I mean, they have been surgically striking and killing these guys in the middle of streets. So is the son dead, the son that was in a coma? Is he gone, the one that they made the leader a week ago? I don't think anybody knows. And I think... Most professionals would say he was clearly appointed by the IRCC because of his ability to be manipulated. I mean, if the facts are true, in that culture, this is what amazes me, you know, in that culture, if you're gay, they're going to execute you. Right.
The odds are on his father did not want him to succeed him. His father didn't believe in him. He actually sent him out of the country. Oh, because he was gay. He's not. He's gay. Oh, I didn't know that. So, I mean, that's what right now is going on. So whether he was there or not, I don't think even if he was there, that he was in charge like his dad was. So I think what you've got is you've got the, and we talked about it. The Iranian Republican Guard has committed so many atrocities that nobody can guarantee them amnesty. Because the people that they have brutalized, if they come to power, they're going to take revenge. Well, and I think right now, if you capture people in the moment, what they've done with their Olympians in that country is beyond disgusting. And the wrestler's name was Salee Muhammad. Muhammad. Muhammad, I guess, or Muhammad. And to have such a talented young athlete representing your country who trained and did everything else 19 years old executed yesterday by public hanging, does that...
Do the people in our Congress who are being so absurd right now and trying to block the efforts of this administration to make this part of the world, which as in for 47 years, these people have wanted death to America, do they wake up? Do the people in our Congress wake up and say, and condemn this and come alongside, or do they continue to take the side of now Iran? Because in order to want to perpetuate that, they have to take the side of Iran who just murdered, executed three young athletes. Like, at what point did they get off the ride? How bad does it have to get before they do the right thing? Calling the ICE agents Gestapo. Like, there's bumper stickers here in Tucson. Ice equals Gestapo. Not on my car. I'm telling you, it's... It's frightening to me because you've got all these sheep just going along, and John Fetterman's the voice of reason, and God bless him for being that, Steve, but I'm more concerned about the leadership in our country right now. I think this situation is... America is doing everything they should be with Israel and other allies over in that part of the world and it's playing out. And then we've got to sort out the oil. And I do want to ask you about the mines that are in the water because we're hearing now that there aren't any or they're not finding them. So I think that's a concern, but I don't know how serious a concern that is. Well, it's not just a concern. They may not find any, but do they have any capability with commercial ships, which we believe they do, to put more mines in the waters? And so, you know, that threat is not, I mean, that's the problem. The threat is not totally eliminated. We've just got to make sure that whatever we're doing, but that then says you need mine sweepers. You need things that will find those minds. And that's what the administration was asking for the European allies. And initially they went, no, we're not sending ships. Well, now they go, oh, yeah, we're sending ships. And it's going to have to be, it's going to have to be a joint effort. The real question is, is can Trump turn China and Russia to say, look, if you really want your oil supply, you need to quit backing these guys. Because it's surprising to me right now that so much of their oil comes from the Arab Gulf states, not just Iran. And they're playing a very, I mean, Russia is playing a very, very interesting game because if they keep giving intelligence, if they keep getting on the wrong side, and that intelligence is allowing them to strike at other Arab nations, they can shut them off from the oil supply. And Russia has nowhere to go.
I mean, right now, Trump is actually being, it's because of the oil. I mean, it's so volatile with the oil and oil prices and what's going on. Yes. He's allowing. The oil to go through. Venezuelan and Russian oil to get through. But where does Russia want to send the ship? We're about to have a confrontation just outside of Cuba because they've got a ship sailing to Cuba to give them oil. And we've got an embargo on that. The U.S. Navy's got a blockade. They're not going to let them get through. So at some point, you know, if you want to say these are the adults in the world, I use that term loosely, very loosely. But if they're the adults, how do you figure... Define an adult? Well, that's it. But how do you figure that you can do that in a way that allows... them to continue to operate their economies and do the rest. I mean, Steve, look, this is not about, yep. We've got to go. Not go for good. We just, it's a hard break. It's a news break, but hold that thought because we'll come back and we'll figure out how do we go because we need to know. You are listening to 1030, The Voice, your trusted local news and talk on this boostos media station. I'm Kathleen Wynn. This is Wynn-Tusan with my good friend, Steve. We'll be back on the other side of this news break. Welcome back to Win Tucson on 1030 The Voice with my good friend, Steve Munt. Steve, so before we went to the break, you were talking about the situation in the Middle East, so I'm going to just hand it back. So go ahead. Sorry I had to cut you off. Yeah. No, no, fine. I mean, this is the issue. The issue is the oil flowing out of there. And the oil, you know, that Russia now wants to put into Cuba, that's not going to happen. But if Russian oil is being sold in other places, right now the administration says they don't tend to stop it because they're trying to keep the oil flowing to keep prices under control. But, you know, when you do things like the Iranians just blew up in the UAE, the natural gas thing, well, okay, but now what? because those are all energy sources. And you see folks in Europe and other places that went to all these other kinds of energy that are now going back to coal. And so I'm not saying whether you should be green or not green or anything, but you've got to have a sustainable hour base and whether that's nuclear or whatever, but the combination so that it's robust. I mean, Europe has suffered because they went so far into solar energy. And this year, with the change in weather conditions and the rest, they didn't get all the soil power they needed. So, I mean, this oil thing is huge. And it's not just focused on the strait Hermuz. It's a worldwide problem right now. Unfortunately, the U.S. is stepping up and producing a lot of oil. It can distribute it. And did you see this little skirmish between, did you see the skirmish between Gavin Newsom and the president because they want to go produce the oil off the coast of California? Yeah. Go ahead. He basically says he can't do that. He's going to sue him. Yeah.
I'm sorry, Gavin Newsom is an idiot. And I don't normally say that, but he's an idiot. He has never produced anything. Said the retired Brigadier General from the Pentagon. Yes. Yes, I like it. Well, I mean, but he is literally, he's causing people to flee from California. California used to produce its own and was capable of sustainable. Oh, California. They've gone overseas to China. They're not getting all that oil from China and Russia. You know, that's not. And so, you know, he's created this environment. He created the green car thing, which was, yeah, I mean, you just go on down. But did you see, but did you see his butterfly bridge yesterday? Did you see the butterfly bridge? Oh, God, give me a break. I know, but it's California. Like, they've lost their mind. They don't want oil. They want to give everything to China. He let China come in in grid California. That's where the bioweapon lab was found. Come on. Right. You know, like, he's really, it's, we might as well just called California, China, China for now. I just made that up. Well, I mean, yeah, I know you did. I mean, the issue is what he has done. And when you go back and look at it, he wants to run for president of the United States. And if you look at where Florida is today. based on where they were before he became governor and before they took over a lot of this stuff. And, you know, I'm very careful with California because I've got great friends who are conservatives that live in California, but it's been redistrict in such a way that you minimize their voice. I know something about that because if you look at what the Democrats in Alabama, I mean, in Virginia trying to do, it's insane. About, it's almost a 50-50 split between conservatives and, and, I mean, Republicans, Democrats, you know, some independence of there. If they get the gerrymandering done with all the little things, I mean, it looks like. Like water trying to run through little passages all over, which basically changes the dynamics in all these counties. It will go from an even split of right now, I want to say they have five seats, we have four. Okay. It will go to nine to one. And there are signs out there say make it fair.
It's clearly not a fair thing for Virginians. And I would say that happens in California right now. I mean, there's a lot of conservative folks in California that don't agree with this. And everybody goes, oh, yeah, they're all up north. No, they're not. They're down in the San Diego area and the rest. So, but their votes are not. counted because of the way they district the state so you don't have equal uh opportunities to compete and and this is bad i mean i know both of us both parties are part and party to this gerrymandering we need to stop Oh my gosh. We need to stop. You want to get a T-shirt. That's the T-shirt. We need to stop. You know, I'm always amazed. When Iran was saying death to America, that the Democrats somehow think they're not part of that. Hello, they don't distinguish between Democrats and Republicans when they're trying to kill Americans. Oh, wait, wait, oh, you're a Democrat who kind of tried to stick up for us? No, they're going to shoot you right there. They don't care. And how short-sighted is this? And I'm still... When they say they're not an imminent threat, if they had a neutral capacity, I mean, seriously, if they had a neutral capacity, they'd already have used it. They have absolutely no remorse for killing anybody in any numbers. None. No, they just demonstrated that yesterday. And for, yeah, so for 47 years, they've been attacking America and killing Americans. 47 years. You now actually have former presidents, and he wouldn't say that, but they have called him and said, I should have done what you're doing. Right. I mean, at some point, you've got to take a stand, and there has to be a true red line. Iran feared nobody, and they didn't care what anybody else said. They were going to have a nuclear weapon. They've been building long-range missiles. Those missiles would have reached the United States. You know, and so you want the imminent threat to be when they are using nuclear weapons and long range missiles and hitting the United States and killing American citizens. Then it's an imminent threat and then you want us to go do something about it. That doesn't even make sense. No. I mean, as we started this campaign against them. The things that have come out and been done, how can you justify that is being bad? Well, it's not what they're saying and what they're doing. They've got their little playbook, you know, Hakeem Jeffries, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Gavin Newsom, J.B. Pritzker from Illinois. None of these people are serious, though.
They're not serious people. They're political pawns and they don't even have an original thought. They just, it's like they just repeat. And they do it with their own little version. Kathy Hochul, she's figured out in New York that they've chased away all the billionaires and that they can't have their social programs because they've destroyed their tax base. Illinois, same thing. California, same thing, New York. Before you go there, what did Kathy Hochul say to all those billionaires? Go to Miami, move out. She told them to leave. She told them to move that they didn't like it. They did. And now her big message to them is, you know, if you're a real American, you need to come back and help pay for all these programs. That's incentivizing me. You know what? I mean, that's your message right now. And the people in New York should wake the hell up and not elect her the governor again. Like that's stupidity. You talk about being a moron. That's stupidity. And Zohran Mamdani is learning the same thing. He's even fighting with Kathy Hochul because he says, well, I want to do it. You can't. You're not allowed to do that. Not as the mayor. You know, that's the governor thing. And so they're going back and forth. Well, maybe we can get him to run for governor and kill two birds with on stuff. Oh, geez, please. And his wife. I mean, look, make no doubt about it. They would kill every Jewish person in the world. Right. They say they wouldn't. They say that's not true. But go look at the things she posted on the websites. Yeah. No, they're not good people. These people have no right to exist. That's pretty much fratricide genocide to me. So I'm, I'm, and people listen to this rhetoric and they don't react. There's no normalcy to the way people would react. You know, if you are a good human, decent human, you would say certain things are wrong, but they won't even admit that they're wrong. Like I said, my hat's off to John Fetterman. Yes. He is actually doing the kinds of things that we would expect from any decent human being to do. They, of course, call them a traitor, say you can't be part of the Democratic Party. They'll take away any. And then now the Democrats are saying, let me make sure all of you people out there understand. If you have cooperated with this administration anyway, we're going to punish you. Oh, that's incentivizing me to move back to where you're at and to support your party. Yeah. We have to take a break. So we're going to take a break and then we'll come back and I'd like to talk about two things, the oil and then the airports and security because I think...
I just want to get your thoughts on both those things before we go into the weekend. And so you are listening to Win Tucson on 1030 The Voice, KVOI.com, your trusted local news and talk. We will be back right after this. We are less than an hour away from game time. Yay, go Wildcats. We'll be right back. Favorite thing, it's Friday. Yay, Friday. So happy. Welcome back to Win Tucson with my good friend Steve Munt. Steve, I want to go back to the oil. If we can get the straight of her moose opened up and safe, how long does it take a month to get oil back into... the way that we want it to be, because I don't know enough about it, so I'm hoping you do. Are you there? Did you mute? Steve? Oh, it went back to me. I don't know how I did that. Anyway, the, um, old people with phones. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not an oil. Yeah, that's exactly right. I'm not an oil expert, but, you know, I mean, here's the things that have to happen. I mean, the first thing you got to open it, then you got to get the oil on ships. And there are some ships up in the north that, that are ready to sail as soon as they think they're safe. Then you got to take and add the, the transit time. of that oil and then it's got to go to some refinery to be refined so that it's usable. So I don't think that 30 days is a bad, bad estimate. You know, when you look at it before it actually comes back into the market. That's why these oil reserves that everybody has are so important that we can actually put those into the system to allow some stabilization of the oil prices. The problem right now is they don't know if the infrastructure is destroyed there. That's a long time. Like the UAE that lost the natural gas, they're saying it could take upwards of five years to put, to rebuild that and put that back into place. Wow. So that's, that's the dynamic. So I mean, this is a big issue. I tell everybody they need to stay tuned. But it is, we're in the, we're heading in the right direction and we've got to take this regime down and we've got to take these people that want to run proxy wars down. through, you know, a better control of the oil and the rest of that. So, well, I think it's important and, and, uh,
Obviously, the Democrats will exploit the fact that, you know, the price, they already are doing it. Oh, the price of oil was this and now it's this. It's, you know, because the president wants this war. And the president doesn't want war. He wants world peace. And it's just, again, not serious what they say. The military. Well, they're looking at it from a very myopic position is all I'll say. No, they're looking at it from a very politically, politically myopic. Well, that's true, but right, but it's, I'm looking at the immediate effect right this minute. And I'm going to say this. I'm not looking at the broader strategy. I'm not looking at what led up to it. I'm not looking at the fact that so many places in this country shut down refinery, shut down oil production. You know, we shipped everything that we want to do overseas to include meds and other things to include precious metals. Right. Because we didn't want to do that here in the United States. And now we're finding out there's a cost to that. And they don't want to admit that there's a cost to what decisions are they made. Every decision has consequences. You now see the consequences of not being able to maintain a U.S. ability to control its own production and capabilities. Well, and when you can stop. Well, and 100%. And when you concede control, you also then lose the benefit. It is a cost. Whatever payoff they got for doing that, you know, in the Hillary Clinton model of selling anything that's not nailed down, it's now costing us. And it's costing us at the pump. But I do believe that's going to be short term. I believe what this president is saying. And so when we first started today, you mentioned that the Pentagon is deploying second Marine unit to the Middle East. So there's the 31st Mu is moving in that direction. Nobody will validate that that's what's happening. But those kinds of organizations, you know the 160th, you know Delta Force, you know a number of these organizations and what their missions are. They are going to go and ultimately end up securing strategic sites. That's what they do. Yes. So. I think, well, it's in the epic time. And I, nobody in the Pentagon called me and said, what I thought of that plan. But when you look at the organizations and units that are moving around, you begin to put these pieces together. And I think you saw Jack Keene's said basically the same thing this morning on Fox and some other folks. So. Well, and Richard Blumenthal, Senator Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut said we seem to be on a path toward deploying American troops on the ground and Iran. I don't think that's quite the case, but who knows? We have to secure things so that they're not reinstituted as well. If we have to secure certain sites to remove the threat. We will do that. This is not something where, according to what I'm hearing from the administration, and I, you know, heard a bunch of folks on Tuesday at the McAlees Defense Forum. But this is not about putting boots on the ground. This is about putting boots on the ground to secure a very specific objective and get out. It is not about staying. No, this is not Vietnam.
Yeah. And I mean, I think, you know, the Democrats are going to weigh that because they're scared to death about, you know, well, we got into Iraq, we got into Afghanistan, we got into Vietnam. You know, we have a propensity to start and then not maintain the very narrow mission. And you get mission creep. And the next thing, you know, you're there. We do not need to get involved in Iran or any place else in nation building. That is not our job. Our job is to remove the threat to America, which is the nuclear threat and the missile threat and to get the oil moving through the straight. I think those are pretty definable objectives and there are a lot of objectives. Some people might even call it a plan. Yeah, what a concert. Because you know he didn't have a plan. Right. And you wanted to talk about. Go ahead. Yes, please. Okay. Look, I got to tell you, I'm mad enough to spit because, first of all, nothing they are talking about with ice. If I even break it down and say, okay, they don't want to fund ice, they can't stop ice right now. They funded ICE and the big beautiful bill through 2028. So get over that. You're not impacting that at all. If you would come to the table with rational decisions and discussion points like maybe we need to train ICE agents a little bit longer. Maybe we ought to talk about how we de-escalate certain situations. Maybe we ought to talk about how law enforcement will work with ICE so there doesn't have to be those kinds of confrontation. If you want to talk about legitimate change, that makes sense. If what you want to call ICE is Gestapo and disbandment, that is not legitimate. Okay, and so we've used that whole narrative to drive this decision, and they have zero impact on that. So now what we've done is we put people like TSA, other people in Homeland Security, Homeland Defense that are the day-to-day life of how we protect American citizens. They put them all at risk. So if you're a TSA agent, now think about this. You're a TSA agent, and you... Want to do this mission. You're getting paid $40,000 a year. That's the average salary of a TSA agent. Wow. And you're going to take their livelihood from them. And some of these folks are trying to stay with the job. Right. And they're working as Uber drivers or taking on second jobs, working at pizza places or whatever, trying to feed their families. So not only are they trying to be TSA agents who are supposed to be alert and get good rest or anything else, off of that and having them do other things and working longer and longer days and weeks.
So that I'm sorry, it's a fact, medical fact, that when you don't get enough sleep deprivation, you begin to make less and less rational decisions. So there is a cause and effect, and people ought to understand that. The lines at the airports, when you start getting as big a lines, you have all sorts of things that can happen. So I have somebody who may not be as alert. I have big crowds, people move into. And people's moods, people get more, it changes the whole experience of flying. Not that that's the most important thing, but when you have small children if you're traveling, this was spring break week. And I just think someone should stand at the airports and say, vote Republican in the fall. I just think we should start wearing T-shirts. And they should, but if you were a TSA agent, and this had happened to you two, three times in the last couple of years. Would you consider this as job security? You know, I'm working for the federal government. I've got some job security that we're going to get paid. I don't know how long you can keep people willing to take on these roles and responsibilities if they're not going to get paid. And they have to go through this political BS every time we get to a certain point. We are talking about not paying people. We're not talking a single thing about what we should change in the system to make it better. And that's ignorance. Well, and there seems to be a plethora of ignorance currently in the U.S. Congress. It's my big word for today. So what bracket is Alabama in? We're in the... You caught me. We're not in your bracket. Okay, good. Just wanted to make sure that. No, we're not. And what ranking is Alabama? Do you know that? We were fourth going in. Okay, that's good. That's where that good. Yeah. So did you... Let's see. Okay. I'm making you do extra work. You are. So I think that... I'm encouraged for where we are right now. I think the fact that we did have two losses as hard as they were at the time due to injuries and stuff. I think that we're prepared. I think we're mentally prepared. We have a great coach. I think our coach should and possibly could be, especially if they win the national championship, the NCAA coach of the year. And so I'm a Tommy Lloyd fan. I'm a U. of a Arizona Wildcats fan and I'll make that deal Alabama, Arizona. Just be prepared to get a red, white, and blue shirt that will look good.
I'll send you one, Steve. When this is over, I'll make you take a picture. All right. I appreciate it. No, I appreciate it. That'll be nice. I'll even wear it. I know, I know. I'll make sure. Don't ask me how we got there. We're in the Midwest bracket. I knew there was something. I was going to say South because that's where I thought we would be, but we're in the Midwest. Yeah, Chicago. The number one seat, the number one seat there is Michigan. Oh, they're a tough team. So, okay, I got it. Yeah. I have a niece that graduated from their law school. All right. We have come to the end of our time. I so appreciate you. Have a fabulous weekend. You too. I wish you know snow. Enjoy your 100 plus degree weather, and I'm going to enjoy my 70, 72 weather. Yeah, you're welcome. We sent our weather to you. I don't know whose weather I have. All right, you are listening to 1030 The Voice. Your trusted local news and talk. When we get back, we're going to talk to Jared Nott about other things that are going on in the world. Stay with me. Kathleen Wynn, Wynn, Wynne Tucson. Welcome back to Win Tucson, and I am so happy for our next guest, Jared Knott. Jared is a decorated Vietnam combat infantry officer, First Air Calvary. We love Air. Historian, author of, and I love this, his book, Tiny Blunders, Big Disasters, And then there was book to The Many Tiny Mistakes That Changed the World Forever. Jared, I think that you could probably do a whole series now, given what's going on in the world. And welcome back. Happy to have you here today, sir. It's an honor to be here. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Yes, the history is filled with all kinds of mistakes. Some of them are great big mistakes. Some of them are medium-sized mistakes. And, of course, the book's about little tiny mistakes are what appeared to be. A tiny mistake at the time that was taking place, but an actual fact ended up being a huge disaster, kind of a butterfly effect in human history. Well, and the thing that caught my eye, it was funny, I was thinking about having you back, and then I got this wonderful thing talking about Trump and Marco Rubio calling for new Cuban leadership amid worsening blackouts. And so, and that was a couple days ago, but we're not really talking that much about Cuba. But I think it's probably the next logical... area in the world that's going to get a lot of attention. And so I wanted to have you on to talk about the economic crisis. And because if U.S. is having problems, it seems to me the people around the world, then there's a...
You mentioned the butterfly effect. There seems to be an effect on others. So I wanted to talk to you about the Cuban leadership right now. And President Trump has mentioned that after Iran, Cuba. So I want to get your opinion. So please go ahead. Yes, I was the old saying, talking about Europe, whenever the United States gets a cold, Europe sneezes. Of course, the United States, the largest economy in the world, most powerful nation, which doesn't mean that we have everything we want, always come our way. But, yes, Cuba is just hanging by a thread. People, of course, blackouts, just desperate economy. People hardly have enough to eat. Medical care is extremely, extremely inferior. and they may be next. But in the meantime, we have a huge, huge problem over there. Was that a mistake? Was the war a mistake? They'd say that JD Vance. was actually opposed to going to war. Marco Rubio being more hawkies was in favor of it. And Donald Trump, of course, and made the decision to go ahead and change history in a major way by launching the war. And it's a little bit of an issue here with the Straits of Hormuz. Some people say, had it fully thought out. Well, maybe they did, maybe they didn't. But that would be a big mistake category. If that's what's happening here, and then Cuba is not yet a mistake. It may be something that passed into history as a victory. Without any bumps in the road, we will have to wait and see. Yes. And, you know, there, so would we put Cuba in the category of a failing regime? Yes, absolutely, absolutely, yes. Affirning the people can keep the energy lights on, they have, again, their medical care there is just disastrous, jobs, income, financial security, a disaster. The only thing is popping it up is you have some senile old men not willing to let go and still being supported apparently by the military. So is it how, that's a... I give this example. A bloodless coup would be the thing that we'd want to see happen. The only good example I could think of is way, way back when Panama Canal was being built. Columbia was very slow to want the United States to come in and build it. People say, tell you Roosevelt, he'd give it another six months of diplomacy. They would have been persuaded to with a certain amount of American dollars to go with a formula. But being a man of action, he managed to engineer a coup. It was a bloodless clue, and we're lucky that no one was killed. The Colombian had said, like, a force of like 500 sharpshooters. He's going to try to defend the canal against any kind of takeover. But they were able to finesse it. They were to pay off some generals. And they were able to create a new nation of Panama, which the people Panama very much wanted.
separating it away from Colombia. And again, no one was shot, no one was killed, and we built the canal with a remarkable engineering achievement. Well, hopefully, some of that could happen in Cuba. They may be talking to some generals. There may be some American dollars involved there. There may be some financial security being offered. I don't know what all would happen. Of course, the leaders may not like the idea of moving to Egypt or the Emirates or someplace to live in a mansion. They may not want to let go of power. And so it may not be easy, but if anybody could do it, Marco Rubio and Donald Trump can. And we just have to wait and see it. They may have to wait their turn. The United States can't turn their attention to it until we have a bigger problem. Iran and Straits of Hamous solved. Yes. Although I do believe, and we talked about this on the first hour of my show, I do believe that the Iran and Straits of Hermuz thing. hopefully works its way out in the next four weeks if that long i think i think uh i think it's getting close to you know i have no expertise so this is just what i'm reading and what i'm seeing uh you mention the leaders oh go ahead i'm sorry No, no, it was nothing. I think maybe Benjamin Netanyahu is on the radio just this morning saying that a boots on the ground component is going to be necessary to complete the deal there in Iran. Of course, they're dealing with Hamas themselves, Hezbollah themselves, sending troops into Lebanon. It may be that we can't pull the administration that the existing regime loose. without Marines going in. What that means is the people getting shot and the people are getting killed, and it means the American casualties that go from the 13 that we have to, who knows how many, 50, 100, I don't know, hopefully zero. But that's a tough line to cross, but it may be necessary to cross it in order to have a successful war. I don't know the answer. Pray to God that there is that kind of kinetic violence, that it's swift and successful. Yesterday in Iran, the execution of the three young men, horrific. Horrible. Horrible. And in Cuba, you mentioned that you know you have senile old men running the country who may not want to give up their power let's hope they're more senile well they can be old and senile I guess but is there a political will inside Cuba much like in Iran where people are they're just done with the regime they're done with the oppression so is in a political culture If the U.S. can negotiate, are the Cuban people ready to take their country back and avoid the continuation of this bad leadership? Well, if you go to China...
And you go to North Korea as well as Russia, as well as Iran. In all four of those cases, the people there, if they had a free press and free elections, would definitely vote out their existing government. The problem is, of course, we're facing it right now viciously. The problem is that the 10% of the people, 15% of the people supporting the regime. the people that have the guns. And going on and trying to overturn the government like that, that means a lot of people would be killed. And, of course, you're dealing with machine guns and grenades and artillery and just civilians. So, again, they would lose an election. Cuba as well, they would lose an election. If an election were held, but there's not being an election held. It's being held with the strength of power, force, terror, and guns. So that's the tough issues. And it's a sticky wicket. I can't sit here and pretend like I know the exact answer. But a big, big ace of the whole big thing in favor. regime change in both Iran and in Cuba is that 85, 90% of the people are very much in favor of it. And so that, and of course, there are both nations. There's kind of an old rule of thumb that in Latin America, you can win a revolution without the army. You can win a revolution with the army, but you cannot win a revolution against the army. Well, that was kind of disproven when Castro came to power. They were able to defeat Batista's army, but it's a tough, tough row where civilians to get out there and their bare hands or pistols or just rifles, light arms, and try to take on an army that may have tanks and heavy machine guns and artillery and so and so forth. So that's going to be tough enough. The generals are able to be persuaded to come over to the other side. I've talked about Iran as well as Cuba. There's a lot of defections taking place. And of course, Israel is calling a lot of soldiers up on the phone at all ranks, is that we know who you are. We know your name. We know your address. If you resist the uprising for the people, you will be killed just like all those leaders have been killed. So that is what we hope is going to happen there. A lot of people do defect. The Secretary of Treasury was saying that a lot of people have already defected military officers as well as people in the administration of Iran are coming over to the other side. Well, I hope so. And I hope it's significant in enough numbers and in critical positions. so that a coup can be staged. I got an ugly feeling that's going to require some infantry and some violent action on the ground in order to complete the goals there, but we pray not, but we will see. Yeah, and we don't know. And we have heard that there are marine units moving closer to...
that country. I think the Strait of Hermuse is obviously the most important thing. Jared, we have to take like a minute break, and so I'm going to ask you to stay with me. And we are talking about Cuba and other parts of the world right now. Jared is a wonderful historian and author. Tiny blunders. And an all around good person. And all around great person. And one of the smartest guys I love talking to about this. Because he'll tell you what he knows and what he doesn't know. And a lot of his answers are based on the history that he is so proficient at. You are listening to 1030 The Voice. Your trusted local news and talk. I'm Kathleen Wynn. This is when Tucson. We'll be back right after this. I love that song. It was one of my granddaughter's favorite songs, Guns and Roses. She's nine. She's a special kid. So, welcome back to Win Tucson, and we are talking to Jared Knott, and he is an all-around good guy. He reminded us right before we went to a break. So, Jared, I love your invitation. See website. It's like Disney World for History Buffs. So tell my listeners where your website is so if they have an interest, they can go. Yes, it's tiny blunders, big disasters.com, tiny blunders, big disasters.com. And it is a amusement park or a Disney World for history buffs. We have a portrait gallery there with 27 personalities with a little bit of dirt on each one. And we have, I'm half kidding because we say good things about some people there. And also we have the Instagram, three different Instagrams there. We have a John Wayne Instagram and Elon Musk. Instagram and a Watergate Instagram. You'll see what we mean. We go there that they're a lot of fun and as well as having a book trailer and also a fun quiz. And so it's kind of a good way to entertain yourself if you're interested in history for five or ten minutes. The book is for sale. We have a special on this week. Our Father's Day is coming out for the not too distant future. So it might be a good time to plan ahead. I love that. It sounds wonderful. And my husband is a history buff. now retired and and I think we may have talked about it in the past but he was an aerospace engineer and designed helicopters mostly rotorcraft and some fixed wing and but the they are using Apache helicopters which is the he retired as the vice president of that program and yeah and so And he started on those a long time ago, and they've morphed, and they're now using them to take out the drones of Iran. And I think that the more that we can stay in the air and avoid more lost lives, I think that's important. But if you look at the atrocities that happened in Iran,
and the thousands and thousands of their own people that they killed. Yes. And then 47 years of them threatening death to America, what does it take to make an imminent threat? Well, I remember years and years ago, back I think it was in Compton's Encyclopedia, talking about the importance and the value of air power. And they were making the point back then, and we have to kind of make the point to this day. A major war has never really been won with air power alone. Venezuela was not really a war exactly. It was the arrest of a police action of one leader and his wife. It was not really a war on, you know, sitting in troops and taking over a country. So there has ever been an example, really, of an entire war being one just from air power alone. We're coming, we may be able to come close. And if you had an uprising, but the. citizens of Iran that have been armed and been trained, and maybe some CIA operatives there to help things along, and maybe a lot of them being afraid of being killed by the Israelis, maybe it can be done in that way just from an internal uprising. Another kind of principles out there throughout history is that when a regime is overthrown from an internal rebellion, it almost always is based on the country itself being a very... weak circumstances. Right. You go back to the Russian Revolution. They were badly decimated. The Tsar was badly, weakened, decimated by the losses he was taken on the battlefield against the Germans. In World War I, also you go back to the French Revolution, they had gone bankrupt supporting the United States. They had lost a war to Great Britain. A matter of honor, they were trying to win another war to balance that out. And they sent ships and men and so forth to help the United States Revolution. We might not have been successful without their help. But in the process, they had bankrupt their own country. So it was a very weakened country, and they were ripe to be taken over. Well, that's, of course, they have a situation. Iran, of course, a huge amount of economic pressure. They have a terrible drought there. And so they're very, very weakened. They have a lot of people, 85, 90 percent of the people of Iran want the current regime gone. So if there's ever a chance to remove them, this is it. But they're hanging on. And they don't mind they think they're going to die and go to heaven and have 40 versions, 40 virgins in a mansion someplace, some kind of nonsense like that. And they're fanatical. They're unhinged. They're maniacal, and they're not going to give up. Many of them are not going to give up unless they get shot dead. So that's a sorry, ugly thing to say, but it's a tough situation. Plus, they've got their straight of Hormuz, where they can apply economic pressure to the United States and to Western Europe and to the rest of the world. So it's a sticky wicket, and it may be that it's going to take...
boots on the ground and Marines going in to finally close the deal. Right. I don't know the answer. I don't know the answer. But there's that old Chinese curse. You live in interesting times and we certainly certainly are. Well, we're living in historic times for sure. And, you know, I mentioned my husband. My dad was a Marine. So I think like all the, all the things I was raised with or know about, and at this, what, our 250th anniversary of our nation, I feel like everything's on the table. And you have to. understand that when you see evil, and yesterday we saw evil in the world. And so I don't... If I'm in Iran and I'm a citizen and we've seen this since the conflict began, people that had gotten out of Iran that live in other parts of the world are really encouraging and cheering this effort on. And I think whether we're to that point yet where the citizens can rise up, if we're not, we're getting really close to that, if that is going to happen. And I hope that we can give them the opening to do that and that we do have to take out people that mean to do others harm. When your only solution is to kill and murder and assassinate those that disagree with you, you have no heart, you have no soul, and clearly you have no God. And I think that the efforts right now, and we don't know what president told. Donald Trump that he wished that he had done it. But I'm confident that hindsight is always 2020. And if we could have done this earlier, we should have, but we didn't. And by letting it go unchecked, I believe that we have responsibility right now in the world to fix this situation, you know, the saying, if not me, then who, if not now, then when. And I think it is a culmination of 47 years of people kicking the can down the road. And finally, there is no more road, and we have to do the right thing. And so I pray every day that we don't lose any more lives. And that may be too idealistic. But I am confident that we will not leave until this is taken care of. And I think that the U.S. has shown their force. What I'm encouraged by is the European allies willing to step up.
And that Israel, let's be fair, they have everything at stake in this. You know, the chicken and the egg. I think we're more the egg and they're more the chicken. Or is it the, yeah, or the bacon and the pig. Right, the Israelis, of course, it's an existential battle for them. They're very existences at stake. The United States, not so much. You could argue that maybe it should have waited after the midterms. You could argue that maybe you could just several more bombing runs to neutralize their nuclear threat and maybe we should not have gone to war, but that problem is still going to be there and it's going to fester and it's going to grow. The terrorism is going to continue. They are the leading nation of spreading terrorism throughout the world. responsible for many, many hundreds and even thousands of deaths. Of course, they kill 32,000 of their own people. Right. And they're not just hanging them. They torture and they remove their eyes. They blind them. They torture them and they finally hang them. Horrible, terrible things. They are fanatical, vicious, evil people. And they're going to continue to do the evil things unless somebody goes in there and does the tough work of taking them out. And I wish it were easier. I wish the bombing campaign would have done the job. But I got this ugly feeling that put in my stomach. It's going to require the Marines going in, 5,000 Marines, 10,000 Marines. I was Army Airborne, maybe some Army Airborne, and go in and route them out. And that's people getting shot, the people getting killed, this American is coming home and their body bags. And there's an ugly thing. But maybe this, yes. I know I can hear you great. We've got a bottom of the hour hard break. Can I get you to stay with me just a little bit longer? Yes, sure. Be happy with you. Thank you. Okay, great. We're talking to Jared Naught. We've got to take a break. You're listening to 1030 The Voice, your trusted local news and talk. I'm Kathleen Wynn. This is Wynn-Tusan. We'll be right back.
Welcome back to win Tucson on this Friday, right ahead of the UVA game, is just underway. We're playing Long Island in San Diego, so let's hope history is with the Arizona Wildcats, and that they were number one for much of this season, and let's hope that's where they end up this season. Thanks, Jared, for letting me do that. I'm a proud Arizona Wildcats, so. No problem. Because I was born in Tucson many, many years ago. That's right. I have a special place in my heart, of course. Well, then we'll just take that as a good positive sign and that we brought all these wildcats together today. So I want to go back to where we were before we went to the break. I do believe that we don't know, you know, what's happening. As we heard on the newsbreak, they're thinking about unsanctioning oil right now to help provide that into the market. Is that a good temporary fix to solve at least part of the issues that are being created? It sounds like it's a good tactical move. Of course, it's not a long-term solution, but it takes some of the pressure off. That I think is a very good thing.
I sound just slightly immature for a moment here. Hopefully just one moment, but I hate turning on television and listening to bad news. Of course, we all do that, but I hope that we're going to be able to find a solution to this in the next two, three, four weeks. It's 30 days from now. It's behind us, and the problem is solved, and the evil people that ruling Iran had been pulled out by the roots and that the Democratic government is taking over. And all this is going to be just something in the past and a difficult job that came out with a good ending. But it's, you just don't know. And they got people not willing to surrender. They wanted to die for the strange, weird, twisted cause. I got, I'd be feeling in my stomach that we got, the news might still be in front of us. But we won't know. We'll know in like 30 days from now, 60 days from now, we'll know. But now we don't know. We don't know. And unfortunately, our own Congress, I think, is working against us at this moment in time. That we can't, that there doesn't seem to be any adults in that room. I know they're there, but they're either being drowned out or I am confident. I'm not the only one, but I'm just fatigued and worn out from the lack of willingness to work for America's greatest interest. as opposed to the political interest of those that sit in these seats. Yes, they are willing to say anything, do anything to make things difficult for Donald Trump. And doing that, they're doing things that are very difficult for the American people. They're not trying to have a success for the United States and for the American people, just the opposite of trying to create failure and roadblocks and engaging in obstructionism in any way and every way they can and trying to use that to attack President Trump. and the American people being held hostage. It's ridiculous. We're talking about a time of war. We have terrorists trying to come into the United States, or many of them already in the United States because of Biden's policies, and we need the Homeland Security forces now more than ever. And they're denying that at a very critical time. I think it's a shabby political... to call it trick or campaign or motivation. And it's harmful to the American people. Hopefully they'll pay a price for it at the polls. Hopefully the American people will see through it for what it is because I think it's shameful. Well, I think I'm hoping. You know, memories are short. Just a few weeks ago, we were condemning ICE agents in Minneapolis for doing their job. And that seems to have gone away. So we moved through new cycles, kind of like you change your shoes every day. And I'm...
disappointed in the fact that at a time where we are in this conflict in Iran and we don't know who's in our country that we are now faced with a willingness to let people who are in their jobs, who aren't ICE agents, who are, you know, security at the airport, when we need heightened security. And the Congress is just because they hate Donald Trump, unwilling to do what's there to do. And we're not even talking about the SAVE Act yet. Just fund. And the stupid thing is they want to bring ICE back and put ICE back on the table. No, you voted for that. You voted to fund ICE till 2028. You don't get to do a do-over because you want to make some political statement. And the people that want that, I don't think, I cannot believe it's a majority in this country. that want to undermine the security of this country based on that 90% of the people wanted the border secured i i don't know who they're uh they're in an echo chamber to me well they're looking for the democrats looking for a political issue that works for them especially in the upcoming elections in november and the one thing they won the i'm going to say they won the news cycle the democrats are talking about ice there in minneapolis It was not handled correctly by, you say, Christian Lama's fault, whoever's fault. It was the two deaths there, and it was in flame situation. And, of course, the mainstream media was doing everything they could to exaggerate it, to magnify it, to use it against the administration. The administration is pulled back from the blue cities. We have a homin who's taken over. I think the controversy is not there anymore. but they're doing everything they can to pour gasoline on the fire, they're stirred up as much as possible. I think that's kind of the one issue they had going for them, and it's stirring the pot with every lie, every assault, with every active character assassination they possibly can, and they don't want to let go, but it's sort of the only thing they have. But I think the voters hopefully will see through all of that and make them pay a price for it. We need the Homeland Security now, as you say, more than ever. We have threats coming to us as a result of the war more than they've ever had before. We need our protection and they're not wanting to give it to us for political reasons. And I think it's a disgrace. Well, I'm hoping it's, I'm hoping that it's a time of transition in our Congress. that what we've done in the past and how we've gotten to this point is no longer acceptable to the American people. You know, who, and I had my guest on before you said, who would have thought?
two years ago that John Fetterman would be the voice of reason for the Democrat Party. Right. That's right. So that was unpred, you know, if you had that on a scorecard, you know, that probably wouldn't have been there. You know, as a, you know, these things could happen. I think it would, you know, maybe 0.001%. And so what's really wonderful is that I, I, I, I believe that this is a culmination and there's no COVID to introduce into the society and this is the best that they can do. That happened at the end of President Trump's first term and we didn't, you know, and then the 2020 election happened, whether, you know, everyone's got opinions about that. And then we now have him back in office and he understands the timing of it. He understands he's got a limited amount of time. and he's not holding back and he's showing moral courage that I wish the Congress would acknowledge, wake up to, and start to get serious about the issues that we really do have in this country versus what they're working on, which isn't serious. And then the final thing is all the fraud and abuse in the system. So why don't we focus on the real problems?
as opposed to whatever Congress is going to pretend is bothering them today? Because what's... Go ahead. Go ahead. Well, anyway, you touched on the fraud there and just make an observation as we go by. That's how big is that what is the dumbest answer? ever given the history of congressional hearings. But, of course, there's a lot of nominees, I guess, for that honor. But one of the dumbists certainly would be the answer that Tim Walz gave when they said that his... Chief of staff, the chiefs have been informed about the massive corruption that was taking place in the state of Minnesota. And he asked, did your chief of staff tell you about the whistleblowers coming to him with this huge, huge story, with this huge alarm? And he said, I don't remember. Well, I mean, you think if your chief of staff said, we have an $8 billion scandal going on here. If they had, if you had told you, you'd think you'd remember. And if you didn't tell you, you'd think you'd remember that too. But no, no. Tim O'all said, no, I guess it wasn't important. I just don't remember. Oh, my gosh. I'm an idiot. Here's my sign. Here's my stupid sign. Yeah. He described himself as a knucklehead in the debate with JD Vance. But yes, it just kind of emphasized what we were talking about before. The Democrats don't ask, is this good for the country? Is this good for the voters? They ask, can we use this to damage Donald Trump? Can we use this to attack Donald Trump? Everything is seen through that filter. Can it be turned into a weapon against the President of the United States? I don't care if it hurts the American people. They want to eliminate the border patrol. They want to eliminate ISIS. We losing 72,000 people a year from sentinel and drug overdoses. 72,000 a year. It's peak. It reached like 102,000. The drugs coming across the border by not having a border patrol, not having ISIS, the floodgates once again would be open, and we have even more tens of thousands of people. dying from drug overdoses. Is that good for the American people? Is that what's good for the voters? No. They want to flood people into the Democratic states so they can get more representatives assigned to those states. Never mind the dead people. They remind all the harm it's being done. It is really unconscionable what they're doing, the sacrifice of the goodwill of the American people, the welfare of the American people for their political motives. It's an absolute disgrace. It is a disgrace. And on that note, we'll end for today because I think there's more story to tell and we'll get you back soon because I think your...
Tiny blenders is so prophetic at this moment in time because we're going to look back and say, oh, that little thing could have changed this. And hopefully we are in a moment of positive change. You have to have courage and you can't stand up for what has been without trying to change it right now. I don't know how you do it knowing what's true and what's real. And there's a clear... I believe there's a clear path forward. So, Jared, thank you so much for joining us today, Jared Nott. And tell the listeners one last time your website. Yes, thank you very much. I appreciate it very, very much. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful weekend. Okay, and go wildcast. You are listening to 1030, The Voice, your trusted local news and talk on this Bustos media station. I'm Kathleen Wynn. This is Wynn, Tucson. Be right back. Welcome back to Wind Tucson. I wanted to take a moment this morning just to acknowledge... A good friend of mine, Rich Jessop. Rich had been on the show when I started, and he had been the chief of police in San Luis, Arizona, which is outside of Yuma. He was the chief of police when we originally discovered the ballot harvesting that was going on. And Rich was a lawman's... cop he was the kind of guy that would do anything for his rank and file just a really good-hearted man a good Christian motivation love training officers and he passed away yesterday and um and i'm just sad i hadn't talked to him in a couple months um And I'm just sad I didn't get a chance to say goodbye because he was one of the good guys and he represented law enforcement well because he cared about the average person. He cared about doing good. He cared about upholding the law. He was probably one of the most humble.
humble men that I know. I'm married to a humble guy, so it's a standard and it's something that I value. When you aren't using your position or your title to gain popularity or fame or notoriety, but you just get up every day and you do your job and you do your job because it's the right thing to do, but it's also You are using your life as an example. And when you're given a position of authority and you don't abuse it and you use it to lift other people up and you use it to keep people safe and you use it to do the right thing, you're a good human. And Rich Jessup, to me. We worked on anti-trafficking stuff. We have a lot of mutual friends that are, he wasn't as much a pastor. and for God as he was for police work. He was good friends with the Yuma County Sheriff, another good guy, Leon Wilmot. And he cared about securing the border. When the border was left wide open under the Joe Biden administration, it was his office. I think I just mentioned it this week, actually. where I went to visit him in Yuma and he had piles and piles and piles of identification cards. He said it's like a carpet out there. People get to the border and they just throw their IDs down because they didn't want to bring them into the country. And that way then it was harder to track who was here. I believe that he by far is one of the most best examples of what good cops look like. And I'm just... super grateful that I got to know him, work with him, accomplish some things. 2,000 Mules, which was a film about the election fraud that took place in Arizona, the ballot harvesting. He was a part of because he had to arrest somebody who was on his city council who was a part of that. I think they're now back on the city council because in Arizona, if you commit crimes, apparently, it's okay to still serve. which is something we should probably change in the future. Rich Jessup had cancer, stage four, and he passed away. He was a great husband, wonderful father, incredible chief of police, and a good friend. So, rest in peace, my friend.
And right now then I look at what's going on in Pima County. And I look at the three-ring circus that we have going on in the sheriff's office. And on Tuesday, I'm being told that it's on the docket for the Pima County supervisors to consider bringing in Sheriff Nanos to question him about... certain things that he's done in his resume from years ago when he was originally hired that had someone made a phone call they would have seen that he had misrepresented on his resume um i'm not going to judge sheriff nanos here on the radio that's not my job but my job is to present the facts and uh when i was first moved back here five years ago I think Sheriff Nanos had taken over for Mark Napier at that point. And what has happened at the Pima County Sheriff's Office is embarrassing. We are nationally, I think we've exposed somebody who is not competent in his job. And not because I say so, but because other law enforcement members say so. When there is the meeting on Tuesday, I'm confident there will be a vote of no confidence that is being taken right now. And I don't believe that he has the support of his agency and that if he's really looking to see what he could do to help Pima County, it may be time to retire. And the way that he treated Heather Lapin, his opponent, was unconscionable. And the supervisors, had they done something then, had they said how you took care of the situation by putting someone in your agency who was running against you and literally shutting her down in a campaign? And then attacking those that were supporting her who worked in his agencies, that was egregious. And the supervisors could have done something then, and they did not. So I hope that at least three of them will correct their actions on Tuesday and hold the sheriff to account. He let someone who worked for him, who raped one of his employees, another deputy, get away with it until they couldn't. This is not someone that you want leading men and women in law enforcement when there's so many good examples. And so I hope and pray. And if you're going to go to a supervisor's meeting, Tuesday will be the one. Hold them to account. They represent all of Pima County, not just the Democrat Party.
The recall will or will not be successful. It's not being sponsored by the Republican Party, but we have petitions if people want to sign. And if you want to say no, not on my watch, we've had enough. You have an opportunity to recall the sheriff. And I hope you'll take the time to consider if that's what we want to do. Is it time now to say no to Nanos? I think it is. So on that note, I want to tell everyone to be safe this weekend, to chair our wildcats on. Let me see if I can get in there and see the score. There are things that are happening in our city that are great, and there are things that are happening. We are now winning 24 to 12. I hope that we end up winning 84 to 12. So I want to say thank you for listening this week. We're going to have another crazy busy week next week. And just know that you can never go wrong by doing right. So have a great weekend. Thank you for listening to Win Tucson. I'm Kathleen Wynn. On 1030 The Voice, your trusted local news and talk. Bye.
