The Ryan Gorman Show podcast, presented by Farah and Farah, accident attorneys, Tampa. So I was just looking at the markets real quick, and I noticed the Dow futures is up 1,000 points, 2.3%, and oil just dropped. It's down for Brent crude below $100 a barrel. It's down almost 12%. And I'm like, what the hell? What's going on? Yeah, what is going on? Did Trump put out a truth social post or something that changed everything? He did. He said, Trump put out, this is how one truth social post can just move markets. I am, please. I think he meant pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East. Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which?

He literally spelled that W-I-T-C-H, which will continue throughout the week. I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Donald J. Trump. Well, that's good news, I guess. We'll see. A big change from what was a deadline coming up at 7.44 p.m. Eastern time tonight, where the president said over the weekend that if Iran didn't reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, we would start to hit and obliterate their power plants, starting with the biggest one. first. It didn't seem like Iran was going to reopen the Straits in response to that threat. They issued a threat of their own saying they would attack their neighbors and American facilities in the region. And honestly, what's been confusing is the messaging. And I go back to this, you know, something that we just talked about about 20 minutes ago because, you know, we had heard from the president, the strait needs to be opened up. Then the strait didn't matter. Then, you know, our allies in Europe, they need to open the straight. Then he said the strait will open itself. And then he issued that 48-hour ultimatum to Iran to open the straight. So it's like, what do we want with the straight here? Sounds like, I guess some progress has been made behind the scenes. So a good development there. It is certainly a great development for the markets and for oil prices, whether or not we're going to see, you know, an immediate drop. Gas prices go down. I'm a little suspect of that. But it's something that will monitor. Again, the president putting out that post just a couple of minutes ago. So some breaking news for you this morning. Let's bring in our national correspondent, Rory O'Neill, whose reports brought to you by Mark Spain real estate. So Rory, a few minutes ago, I was looking at... stock market futures and oil prices and like what the hell is going on all of a sudden they're skyrocketing you know the Dow futures up over a thousand points uh price of a barrel of oil just dropping uh like 12 percent and then i see trump's true social post uh so tell us about that So on True Social, just a few minutes ago, President Trump confirmed that there have been some talks that made a lot of progress over this past weekend. And he appears to be taking his foot off the gas a little bit, saying he'll wait at least five days before launching any military strikes against Iranian energy sites. You know, he had threatened over the weekend to target energy sites in Iran unless they cleared out the Strait of Hormuz and allowed shipping to return to normal. But now he's saying, all right. I'll give you five more days after some productive talks this weekend.

Because Iran was threatening in turn to say, well, if you come after our energy infrastructure, which might be a war crime, by the way, we're going to go after the similar in our Middle Eastern neighbors and perhaps even their desalination plans knocking up the supply of fresh water to the region, which would really be a humanitarian crisis. Yeah, so the president moving off of his ultimatum, the deadline would have been 7.44 p.m. Eastern time tonight. And I think what happened behind. the scenes, you had those Gulf countries freaking out because Iran wasn't backing down. They weren't reopening the straight. And if the president had moved forward with doing what he said he was going to do. That would have caused a big problem for the people of Iran. There are a lot of questions as to how that would have played, if that would have started to turn some of them against us. And then obviously you have those neighbors, those allies, those Gulf states. They were really concerned about their energy infrastructure. Right, because Iran retaliates against them because they can't retaliate against us like that. All right. I'm going to be the jerk here. Is this just taco? I think, I think, yeah, there's, there's some of that. And what does that stand for again? What is the home? Trump always chickens out. Oh, yeah, yeah, look, I mean, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes. When I saw that ultimatum issued, I'm like, boy, that's drawn a hell of a red line that a lot of people are going to be really concerned about because of the potential consequences. if Iran doesn't open the strait. And I didn't think Iran was going to open the straits. I think that's part of it. Iran's also been talking to some of our allies like Japan and saying, you know, we'll let your ships pass for a price. And one other thing I want to mention here, this all follows us allowing Iran. to get about $14 billion in oil revenue, which is about $12.3 billion more than what they got from Obama's nuclear deal. The payload of cash. Yeah, it didn't stabilize the oil market. It's what stabilized them right now is Trump's truth social post that maybe this is coming to some kind of a resolution. But what that money certainly does do, it helps Iran fight the war against us. I thought that was a move that the Treasury Secretary announced that... Jiu-Jitsu. It's jujitsu. Well, that was a move that I didn't think got enough attention in terms of... We just handed $14 billion to Iran in the middle of a war against them. I make the jiu-jitsu reference. That's what Secretary Scott Bessent said on the meet the press this weekend, saying that by taking the sanctions off the oil that's already at sea, the Iranian oil at sea being sold to countries. The idea is by removing the sanction, then you're going to bring down the price of the oil so that Iran cannot profit as much.

8:02

But still, that's not what happened. And that wasn't a lot of profit. And then Scott Bessent claims, again, claims that Iran can't get the money back. Say it does sell the oil to Japan, that they'll never get the money from Japan is Scott Bessent's argument. Not sure how that really squares either because they can just sell it to China. Right. Yeah, exactly. So, again, some good news this morning. I think it's a very fluid situation. It could change really fast. But the president putting out that social post that there have been talks, and he extended that ultimatum on reopening the straight. And we'll see where all of that goes today. Look at your 401 page today. We always say not to. Look today. Look at 4 o'clock today. But I have a feeling those gas prices. They're going to be coming down by tomorrow. Well, Patrick DeHan from gas, buddy. He just tweeted, oil down 10%. If this holds true, gas prices could start sinking in a few days. Yeah. Again, if this holds up. Yeah. Right. But, again, positive development this morning. So it's week four of the war with Iran. And I think... We can look at everything that's unfolded and break it down this way. Some of the pros that we've seen, we've taken out Iran's Navy, Air Force, good portion of their ballistic missile program, many of their top leaders, some of the issues that we're still struggling with. The strait of Hormuz remains closed. Iran can still launch missiles and drones and the regime, for the most part, still... empowered. Now, President Trump put out a truth social post just a little while ago, and he said, I'm pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had over the last two days very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed and constructive conversations, which will continue. I've instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period. Now, the president over the weekend had issued a threat that we would obliterate Iran's power plants. The strait wasn't reopened within 48 hours. That deadline was set for 7.44 p.m. Eastern time. tonight. So a positive development. The markets surged. The price of a barrel of oil dropped. But now we're hearing from Iran. And Iran is essentially denying those claims made by Trump. In fact, Iranian state TV. said after that truth social post, the U.S. president has twice backed down. It's clear the Americans are retreating due to resistance of the Iranian people and the strength of the regime. So, I mean, that's key, Iran's response and how the president, more specifically, reacts to what they're saying about all of this. And I think that response...

11:01

is why you're seeing just, you know, such a roller coaster ride on the markets this morning. Oh, yeah, it's crazy. I mean, you got Trump saying one thing now. You got Iran saying that. I mean, who do you believe? What do you think is going to happen next? I mean, it's good news that any potential strikes against their energy infrastructure have been postponed. But, you know, are there? legit talks taking place was there that kind of progress yeah this and i feel like this happened a week ago too when there was news that they were talking and then the iranian you know regime said no we're not talking to them right right i mean you can't trust what the iranian regime says yeah right what they're doing behind closed doors and what they're saying publicly could be two totally different things but the question is how does again the president react to their public statements uh saying that he is backed down now twice i have feelings i like that very much cbs news and You gov released some new polling on the Iran war. And I thought it was pretty interesting. And again, take all these polls with a grain of assault. Their snapshots in time isn't a perfect science. But it was this response to this question that I think impacts every other response in this survey. Military action against Iran has the Trump administration clearly explained U.S. goals? On March 3rd, 38% said they were clearly explained. 62% said no. Now, 32% say the goals were clearly explained. 68% say no. So people have gotten essentially more confused over our goals as this has continued. Now, I'm sure we're going to have some people listening who are saying, how can anybody be confused about this? Like, I know what they are. I'm telling you, and I've been saying this for a while now, there have been so many different messages coming from the administration. You're more casual American voter who's not paying as close attention to all of this as you. They're going to be confused. Yeah, they're hearing bits and pieces of it and they don't know what's going on. Right. And then you get to this question. U.S. military conflict with Iran is 66% at a war of choice. 34% is at a war of necessity. So the administration, they're not. making the case, at least not good enough to the American people as to why this had to happen. And then when you get into some of the concerns that the American people have, military conflict with Iran will make the U.S. economy in the short term worse off. 63% no difference 22% stronger 15%. So the top issue among Americans, the economy, they think this is going to make it worse. It's going to make it worse in the short term. And 44% said in the long term. And then should Americans be willing to pay more for gas during the conflict? Only 33% said they were willing to pay more. 67% said they're not willing. So you take a big picture. Look at all of that. What does it tell you? It tells you that. American people are confused about why we're doing this. Don't think that we had to do it. Our concern that it's going to impact their number one biggest concern and it's leading to a price hike on something that they weren't willing to pay more for in order to conduct this war. That's what the Trump administration is facing right now. Again, it's only one poll, but we're generally seeing that sentiment across.

14:26

everything that's coming in every survey that's being done on all of that so again i thought that was was interesting and it really uh paints a picture and you can see how everything kind of ties in together starting from that first question have they explained why we're doing what we're doing and what the ultimate goal is Follow the show and give us your hot take on TikTok and YouTube at Ryan Gorman Show.
