The Ryan Gorman Show podcast, presented by Farah and Farah, accident attorneys, Tampa. You know, the Epstein files have been an endless source of controversy, conversation, congressional hearings, what was redacted, what wasn't redacted, and now it appears the Justice Department is going to investigate itself. And... Frankly, I'm not so sure about this. But nonetheless, the Justice Department's internal watchdog, the Inspector General's Office, is launching a review into the DOJ's production of files and documents related to Epstein. It will focus on, quote, the DOJ's identification, collection, and production of responsive material. This has been such a hot button topic over the last months. And I'm wondering, is it a good idea to investigate yourself, or do we bring in... an outside agency to do what the inspector general is going to do. I'm voting for an outside agency to come in and do something. I don't think this is going to go away. There are a number of questions that still need to be answered, including the names that were redacted and how they did all of that, because there were names that were redacted that shouldn't have been redacted, and it looks like that was done to protect certain people. And then there were names that were not redacted, victim names, a lot of them, that should have been redacted that weren't. So who was responsible?
for that process? Who was running that? That's a big question. The other thing that kind of worries me a little bit is a statement from acting attorney general Todd Blanche. He is... apparently would very much like to put this behind him. I'm sure he would. Of course he would. And he's the one who gave Ghislaine Maxwell that she met with him and then she gets moved to that cushy prison. He said in an interview with Fox News that I think to the extent that the Epstein files was a part of the past year of the Justice Department, it should not be a part of anything going forward. He said that in an interview with Fox News earlier this year. The response, which I think was... Perfect, right on. I'm not sure you totally get what people feel about that. Right. Well, and what about Pam Bondi, who was supposed to testify before the House Oversight Committee? She was supposed to testify on April 14th. And then she was relieved of her position and did not end up showing up to testify. And at the time, they said that, you know, because she's no longer the attorney general, that she wasn't going to testify. But a lot of people pushed back on that and said, no, we still want to talk to her just because she's no longer in that position. She was overseeing all of this. still needs to answer questions. They said that her attorney was going to kind of deal with it and they were going to try to figure it all out. Have not heard another thing about it in, you know, in a couple of weeks now. So that's another really big question is, are they still going to try to talk to Pam Bondi and have her answer all of these questions? I don't think they're going to get much out of her. We saw how she acted in that, in that other hearing, but. Well, her approach may be a little bit different this time around, I think. But nonetheless, I think the statement that she's... not going to testify is because the original subpoena was issued to Pam Bondi Attorney General. Right. And the Democrats are saying, well, no, the subpoena was issued to Pam Bondi. Right. Well, it's not just the Democrats that are saying that. I mean, Nancy Mace, who's a Republican, there are a lot of Republicans who also want her to answer questions. So, and then coming up a little bit later on, Howard Lutnick, the one who, you know, told the New York Post that he, you know, met Epstein once and went to his apartment and Epstein's gross. and all that, he was answering questions yesterday, and the way he responded to some of those questions was pretty interesting. So we'll have that coming up in about an hour. Wait till you hear how some of the questions were phrased. You'll like it. President Trump's Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was in the hot seat yesterday, and he was asked why he lied to the New York Post about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. He told Miranda DeVine during a podcast episode back in February that he met Epstein once in 2000.
when they were neighbors, that he'd gone to his place, and that he never associated with him again. So here's some of that interview. The guy's gross. This was not, oh, the deep nuance of Howard Lutnick. This guy's gross. Right. So how come Bill Gates and all these other people could hang around him and not see what you saw? Or did they see it and ignore it? No, they participated. Right. That's what his MO was, you know, get a massage, get a massage. And what happened in that massage room, I assume was on video. This guy was the greatest blackmailer ever. Yeah, so that's what he had to say about Howard Lutnick. So not only did he deny that he hung out with him, but he blasted the other people for associating with him. Well, once all the Epstein files dropped, we learned that Howard Lutnick actually went to Epstein Island with his wife and kids and nannies in 2012, four years after we knew what Epstein was all about. And he signed a business deal with him later that year. So he was asked yesterday why he lied to the New York. post and this is how it went. I have voluntarily agreed to spend the time and talk about it. I reclaim the time. Let the record reflect. You're dodging the question. The cover up continues. You know what, in your conversations with the president, is the president concerned about your continued relationship that you had with Mr. Epstein as recently as 2018? I'm not going to discuss conversations. I haven't the president. That is not something I'm going to do. So he refused to answer any questions. He just kept saying that he would talk to the House committee next month. So he is supposed to meet with them. He has agreed to do that. That's going to be a transcribed interview set for May 6th. He was asked, why did you lie? I mean, he blatantly lied. We all know it, and he couldn't answer the question. It's so crazy how these people get caught lying and they just sit there and deny it. It's insane. So we'll see what happens on May 6th. That will be a very interesting hearing indeed when you consider exactly what Howard Lutnick is supposed to have done and what he is supposed to have seen. And he took his wife there. His wife and kids. They all went to Epstein Island. They all went to lunch. Yeah. Oh, my God. Follow the show and give us your hot take on TikTok and YouTube at Ryan Gorman Show.
