Now let's get to another top story we're covering this morning. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said high gas prices are going to drop soon, calling the current spike temporary. We are cognizant that this short-term blip up in prices is affecting the American people, but I am also competent on the other side of this. Prices are going to come down very quickly. He added this about the state of the economy. If we look at the stock market, what does the stock market see right now? The stock market is looking through this. Corporate earnings are good. Employment is good. And this gasoline, this temporary aberration, will be over in a matter of weeks or a month. I do think it's important to note the shifting timeline that we're hearing. The war and its impact supposed to be about four to six weeks. We're in week 10. We were told gas prices peaked a week ago. They're still going up. And the reason I point this out, I think the administration's got to be careful with their promises on this stuff. This is not something that Americans are only kind of paying attention to. Right. I think more and more people are paying attention the longer it's gone on and the more the gas prices are going up. Right. There's a lot of issues that the administration deals with that we're not paying close attention to because there's just so much going on. And it's not like really important to our day-to-day lives. This is something that the public that Americans are seeing and feeling every single. day and the more you make promises and predictions that don't come true the less the public is going to trust what you say going forward and that's a really bad place to be in ahead of the midterms right well and they keep pointing out how good the stock market is but that doesn't affect you know like people that are poor you know like they're in people who are middle class if they're losing their jobs or they can't afford to keep up they don't care if the stock market's doing well it's great the stock market's doing well but when you've got people trying to make it day to day you know that that's not something that they're concerned about taking a look at where gas prices stand this morning. The national average at 4.48, up 2 cents from yesterday, up 37 cents from a month ago. In Florida, it's at 432. It's up 4.32. Tampa Bay Area 4.30, Fort Lauderdale 437.
