197 segmentsOur verse we're going to start the show with is Romans 1013 for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. I know a name. Right? I mean, really, I know a name. What a way to start Friday. It's rivalry weekend. And it's the morning show with Preston Scott. Take a look inside the American Patriots Almanac for October the 3rd. Let's see, 1899, John Thurman of St. Louis Patton's the first motor-driven vacuum cleaner. It was described as the pneumatic carpet renovator. Vacuum cleaners better. Dear, would you mind getting me the pneumatic carpet renovator?
1904, Mary McLeod Bethune opens the Daytona Literacy and Industrial School for Training Negro Girls. That was the title of it. It became known as Bethune Cookman. Mary McLeod Bethune. Nice. 1922, Rebecca Felton becomes the first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate when the governor of Georgia appoints her to fill a vacancy. 1922. 1995 Captain Kangaroo and the Mickey Mouse Club debut on TV. Man, I grew up on Captain Kangaroo. Doon, doon, doon, do do do do do do do do do. Yeah. Frank Robinson, 1974, the Cleveland Indians, becomes the first black manager in baseball's major leagues. So there you go, this date in history. Let's see. It is National Body Language Day. Doesn't work much for me here in radio. You couldn't see my body language if you tried. You might imagine. It's National Manufacturing Day, National Techies Day, and National Boyfriend Day. You know, heterosexual, you know, boys and girls, boyfriend day. So we got that. And I'm sorry, but I just.
In honor of Rivalry Weekend. There's a backstory to this that I just don't think I can share. Not because it's inappropriate, but because, yeah. Fierce rivals caride. Orange and green against red. Florida's great hate. Sorry, it's the best I could come up with. It's short notice. It's not red. I know it's garnet, but it was too many syllables. You got them. You got... If you could have to do haiku, it's got to be the 575. And that was just too many syllables. All right. Today, of course, is Friday, and that means what's the beef? Lots of things to talk about. Lots of stories, big stories in the press box and more. So stick around. It is. It's stupid is what it is. It's the morning show with Preston Scott. I wrote on the rundown, and Jose noted, by the way, the whole, the whole rivalry thing. came about it's we all have words that just cause us challenges there are words that just trip me up i can look at them i was telling jose maybe this week last i don't i don't remember which when i used to do college basketball games or play by play of any any whatever Yes, ma'am, the ice cream cake is ready for the birthday boy. On my way. Navigation, what if I stay on this road? Okay, if you stay on this road, birthday boy will have ice cream soup. Not good for candles. Are you kidding? I don't kid. I just route. Okay, so... At the next intersection, take the 66 Express outside the Beltway. All right. Ice cream cake arriving on time. The 66 Express outside the Beltway was expressly built to save you time. Visit ride66express.com to plan your trip. I would get the list of names, and I would handwrite them phonetically if they were sketchy. It's one of the reason why I would never in a thousand years do hockey because it's all those Eastern European names and saying them quick, which you have to do in hockey, no chance. I would probably be swearing in multiple languages, meaning I would accidentally just trip up the words and I'd end up using cuss words probably from like the Slavic region or something. So.
I had my ways of trying to get around that, and I'd still mess up sometimes, but I would work on, for example, the word rivalry. Rivalry is one of those words that rivalry, that L and R sound back to back, can be trouble. And no matter how often Jose worked on that, that word was not escaping him. No, yeah, not at all. And I think it was more because the week was after, rivalry week. Rivalry. Rivalry week. Rivalry. Rivalry. Rivalry. And so I immediately, because I'm a child, I immediately heard him do that, and I went, oh, rivalry. And then. And I know that they're, and why someone would be offended at that, whatever. I mean, if people make fun of my accent or my dialect, I laugh at it. If they're good, I laugh at it. If they're bad, I just go, yeah, you stink. But I don't get offended by it. So I don't really, it doesn't bother me if someone's offended by me going, oh, rivalry. It's okay. So that's where that all came from. It just came from the newscast and just hearing, you know, the original newscast had the word rivalry in it. And he just couldn't get it done. He just looked at me. He said, man, I'm cutting the word. It's like, good call. And I said, I do that stuff all the time. I come across the word. I can't get it said. And so it's just like, never mind. And I just detour. You know, you just put the big signs up and you detour. But I wrote on the rundown, Go God, and he's like, ooh, this ought to be good. Oh, yeah, it's very good. Can you feel the energy this morning? It's a little residual from yesterday's show. Yesterday's show had a lot of energy because of the nature of the stories and the things we were passionately discussing. But here's the news where I just, you know, the lead research assistant for the program put this at the head of the link to the story. Go God. See, our research assistants are like-minded. I don't have anybody that's, let alone the lead research assistant. The research assistant supervisor. We don't have anybody in leadership that doesn't think like we do. Just. You're allowed to think like we don't. We do. Or not think like we do. Well, you're just not going to be on the team. It's just fine. You know, that's fine. Planned Parenthood's Prevention Park. You ever heard of it? Brace yourself. Now, seriously, brace yourself. 78,000 square foot stair-step tower. Largest Planned Parenthood facility in the Western Hemisphere in Houston has closed its doors permanently. It is done. It was right close to the University of Houston and Texas Southern University. And the combination of Texas, saying six weeks is your number.
And the one big beautiful bill which stripped Planned Parenthood of half a billion dollars of federal money. Two-thirds of Planned Parenthood facilities are now at the risk of closing. It boasted 402,000 abortions in the last year we've got data from 2022 to 2023. So far at least 41 abortion killing centers have been closed. That is the go god. 78,000 square feet of death and dismemberment has been shut down for good. Go God. 27 minutes past the hour. Huh? Huh? Yes. The Morning Show with Preston Scott on News Radio 100.7, WFLA. All right, it's our first swipe at the big stories in the press box this morning here on the morning show. Do you remember when we suggested. that the United States needs to say to Mexico, either you deal with the cartels or we'll deal with the cartels. And that, you know, Mexico got its knickers in a bind all over that, that possibility of Trump sending military in there. We offered to help. He said, we're offering to help. But understand this. We're going to deal with it. Well. Trump has notified Congress of, quote, an armed conflict with the drug cartels. One or two members of Congress who embarrass themselves routinely, angry because he didn't tell Congress. Okay, he's declared it. He has declared cartels to be unlawful combatants. United States is now in a non-international armed conflict. So far, three strikes in recent weeks. One killing 11 members of Trenda, Aragua. And perhaps you've seen the video. I mean, like they're going to outrun our helicopters and planes and drones. I don't think so. This is going to have an effect. Now, you may not know it, but cartels have submarines. They have many submarines that they use. And so it's on now. Good. I still think we need to send a message to Mexico. I think we ought to do a drone strike. I think we ought to hit a cartel headquarters somewhere in the heartland of Mexico and let Mexico know you either deal with it or we will because it's coming into our country. We're stopping it. You can either help. And benefit from that or not. It's up to you. I don't know if you saw the CNN story about Memphis. They've got a live report. Dude in Memphis reporting on Trump sending people, sending the National Guard into Memphis. Highest crime rate of big cities in America. 145 murders in the first eight months of the year in Memphis.
I think Chicago is worse. I think there may be another two or three cities worse than Memphis on that front. But they're already getting results. But during the live shot on CNN, guy walks up behind the reporter and says Democrats destroyed Memphis. He holds a sign up that's printed. I mean, he spent some money on this thing. Democrats destroyed Memphis. And then he flips it around and said, thank you, President Trump on the other side. The reporter noted this, he didn't, he realized it was there. He didn't try to ignore it. He didn't try to belittle it. He just said, there you go. There's, there's somebody here in the city. And they made 93 arrests already this week. Now, I don't know if you're following what's going on in Portland. It's nasty in Portland. And again, I don't know when the residents are going to say enough. Fire their city commission. But the president is making a point in all of these blue cities. And the residents are going to have to figure out, okay, we're actually, things are getting better. What's happened in D.C. is just revolutionary. I mean, Wait, you mean if we enforce the laws, we might actually make things safer? How about that? It's crazy, right? New Gallup poll, 28% express a great deal or a fair amount of trust in newspapers, television, and radio. I'll bet if you took radio out of that equation, that number would jump into the teens. If you took radio out of that, how much do you have a great deal or a fair amount of trust in newspapers in television? I bet that number's in the teens. I bet radio pulls it up. It might even be below the teens. It might be single digits. But here's what's significant. 7 and 10 adults in the United States, according to Gallops, say they do not have very much confidence or none at all in the mainstream media. 7 out of 10, flat 70%. When Gallup began measuring in the 1970s, the trust factor was between 68 and 72%. Now it's 70% in the tank that they don't trust at all or very little. Just saying, 41 minutes after the hour, these are your big stories in the press box. Show with Preston Scott. Do or do not. There is no try. On News Radio 100.7, WFLA.
Business students at Cornell University who are not members of marginalized or underrepresented groups have been told to skip diversity-focused recruiting events with a warning that attending could harm their career prospects. Excuse me? The directive came in an email. by the Student Council of Cornell's Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. The initiative, allyship in action. Students who do not identify with the specific, marginalized, or underrepresented group that a diversity conference is designed for should respect that space and should not attend. May I? Indulge me for just a moment, friends. Because I know there may be some of you that are still suffering from illiberalism. You've not awakened to the danger and the destruction and the evil that is illiberalism. Let's just reverse this.
Students who do not identify as white, the conference is designed for such people, should respect that space and should not attend. How's that going to go down? You think more people would know about this story? That's just that that's still going on. This is why you have to deal with affirmative action and end it in all its forms. That's why DEI is actually D-I-E-E. It kills everything it touches. Second story sitting on my desk. Next year, Social Security beneficiaries are going to receive a larger cost of living adjustment than normal. Now, this leads into all kinds of discussions on Social Security, you know, getting it right, which... is what Congress, well, this is what Trump is trying to do. Congress is trying to, you know, the Dems are trying to just make it more difficult. See, the more you spend, the more you expand government, the less money there is to go around to shore up Social Security and Medicare. The COLA of 2.7% would be roughly average from a historical standpoint.
But slightly above average. So it'll be slightly higher than what is normal. And so those that are on Social Security, every dollar counts. And it zeroes back to, you know, it's your money. And if you want to work a job to augment that, there should be no restrictions on how much money you make on that job. That's your money. Now, we all know it's not your money in the sense that your money's been spent. It's been used for other people's retirement long before now. It's a bit of a pyramid scheme. That's what Social Security is. It's literally robbing Peter to pay Paul. If I'm retired and I'm receiving Social Security money, I'm taking Jose Social Security deposits and I'm paying myself with them because mine were used to pay for people that my parents age. That's what has to stop. The only way you stop that is by stopping the fraud, the abuse, you get the accounts up and then you work towards weaning this country off of it. 47 minutes past the hour. Let's come back. Texas Christian University, huh? Okay.
53 minutes past get to the top of the hour some news come back and talk about what I think will be a bad decision and I think that the decision that was made they'll try to they'll try to recover from it I think they'll change their mind but we'll explain all that but let me ask you When you hear TCU, it doesn't really resonate that it's Texas Christian University does it. The TCU Horned Frogs? The Texas Christian University? Horn frogs. I think that's what they are. I think so. Check me on that. The TCU mascot. I think it's a horn frog. But I want to focus on that middle initial. Christian. I'm sure that there are some people and... staff members, professors that are absolutely loving Jesus Christians. I wouldn't doubt that at all. But I would also say that's on every campus. There are some on every campus. So what's up with the Turning Point USA chapter there scheduling Chloe Cole as a guest speaker? is the detransitioned transgender. She's going around the country warning women, young girls, because she had the surgery done at a young age. I'm not sure, but she might be suing her doctors for not saying what... Why didn't you just stop me? Why did you allow this to happen to me? I was confused. So she's going around the country. She's detransitioned. She doesn't have any breasts. They were removed. Doctors mutilated her when she was a child, when she was a young teenager. But the university, Texas Christian University canceled the event. And they won't say why. They don't want Chloe Cole speaking on campus. Why would you, as a Christian university, Texas Christian University, why would you not want to have someone share that message against a radical LGBTQ movement that's going on out there and say these are the dangers? This, I am a, I'm not. I'm not telling you secondhand. I've experienced it. She went to Hillsdale instead. Hillsdale welcomed her. Isn't that interesting? Hillsdale College said, sure. Let's come back with a second hour. It's Friday. What's the beef in the third hour? But we've got our number two next in the morning show.
Second hour of the morning show with Preston Scott. How are you? Happy Friday, too, you ruminators. It is FSU Miami weekend. It's interesting because we have a two-day extravaganza of football and football. Football is tonight at the soccer complex as the highly ranked. frequent national champion. Florida State Seminoles take on Miami in women's soccer. At the soccer complex, at 7 o'clock, it will be packed. It will be packed. They've got to figure out a way to add more seating. They've just got to find a way. They can put seating along that sidewalk, I'm convinced. That is stadium drive. They can do it. Add a little bit more there on the ends. Make it an enclosed stadium kind of feel. That would be so sick. FSU will beat Miami tonight in soccer. I believe that. And then tomorrow night, 94-9 TNT, broadcast starts at 5.30, Eastern, 4.30 Central on 945, the Rock, in Panama City.
Miami FSU. Miami ranked number three in some polls. FSU, top 20. After the loss to Virginia, I'm not sweating the loss to Virginia. They showed a little character, a little heart, you get better. A loss doesn't end anything in the new day and age of the college football playoff. Florida State will win tomorrow night. Florida State will win tomorrow night. Yes. Yes, they will win. I'm just going to tell you right now they will win. Am I a Homer? Of course I am. Yes, I am. Pulling garnet and gold all the time. On the subject of football, here is the decision that I believe will be changed before the Super Bowl. I believe the NFL is going to cancel bad bunny. I have no inside knowledge. I am of the opinion that the NFL still suffering some. Look, it's the NFL. It's popular. But their fan base is right of center.
The choice of bad bunny was explained by, and I know some of you were doing what Jose just did, laughing. Because let's face it, what a stupid name. It is. It's just dumb. The headline at Deadline, which is a Hollywood website. Ice agents to harass Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show. Ex-top Trump aide promises, quote, we will put you in a detention facility and we will deport you. The writer, a guy named Dominic Patton. He's one of those elitists out there. Never ones to try not to not try to ruin a good time. Donald Trump's Department of Homeland Security plans to swarm Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance. Good. Taking a page out of the Preston R. Scott. Plan for how you deal with illegal immigrants. You show up at soccer games featuring Mexico. Played in the U.S. Bring the buses? I'm telling you right now, if you said ICE will be outside the stadium when the Mexican national soccer team plays, the attendance would be cut in half. I guarantee it. I guarantee it. But here's why, you know, I want to get to why the NFL, why they're doing this, and why it's so stupid. And why bad bunny, besides having a ridiculous name, needs not be a performer for the NFL? We'll get to that next. Ten minutes past the hour.
All right, 11 passed. Why would the NFL employ the services of a guy who first pledged to not tour the United States? Because of concerns that DHS and masked agents of, quote now, bleeping F word, bleeping ice, would... Target fans at his shows. It's so shameful they've decided to pick somebody who seems to hate America so much to represent them at a half time of the game. The writer writes in his article, of course, if by hating America one means selling and streaming boatloads of albums and tunes. Friends, friends. So the counter for the F. Ice comments is that he shows his love for America by making millions and millions of dollars selling his records here. That's what you got? No, really, this is emblematic of the illiberal left's response to this stuff. What do you mean? He hates America. Look at all the records he sells. He goes to WWE matches. He was in a movie with Adam Sandler. He's been on Netflix. What? What does that have to do? What does that have to do with anything? He's making fun of America by selling all of his stuff and making money off this country, and he hates it. The NFL didn't respond to deadline for a request for comment. He will be fronting for Saturday Night Live this weekend, the premiere of the new season of the unfunny Saturday Night Live. Now, some of you go, no, it's gotten funnier. I wouldn't know, and I don't care. It's not on my radar anymore. It used to be back in the day when it was funny. It was reliably funny. But let's circle back to the whole NFL thing. What are they thinking? Here's what I hope you do. If he survives this, and by surviving meaning, and he does perform, as opposed to being canceled, because I think the NFL will change their mind. I think they will step back and look at the pushback they're going to get from people. And rightly, people should be sending emails and making calls to the NFL saying, hey, you put this guy on, I'm boycott in your halftime show. I don't care who's playing in the game. It doesn't matter. I will not be watching the halftime show. And I think that the answer is, just tune out. If he's on, if he's doing it. Make your lunch, you know, spruce up the appetizers. You know, fluff the hors d'oeuvre tray a little bit, freshen it up, add some new things. Do something else with your halftime. Don't watch that. And the message to the advertisers is going to be, we're not watching it. Just not going to watch it. Why would you?
Why would you watch this? And once again, the NFL, as explained by Jerome Hudson, you know, they've got people on their board that selects this stuff. They are, they don't care. They just, they want the biggest, broadest audience. And this is about getting impact in the Latin American community. I don't care who it is. I don't care what nation it is. The NFL's flipping you a bird if you believe in the rule of law, in legal immigration. So anyway, 16 passed. Come back. Tell you what's going on at Disney. Might be time to discover Disney all over again. morning show taking your calls next hour during what's the beef yeah I don't know it's the best I could do 21 minutes past the hour and yeah we've we've got what's the beef coming up next hour big stories in the press box in just a little bit I'm not I'm just I'm accepting there there are certain realities one is that for a lot of people The opportunity to go bring the kiddos to a Disney park is a fun time, and I get that. I enjoy going to Disney parks. I do. They're clean. They're incredibly well manicured. The grounds are beautiful, especially Christmas time. It's just beautiful. It just is. But right now, according to some, it's ghost town. As in, these are some people that are posting. I'm at the Magic Kingdom right now. This place is a tomb. Another one. There's literally nobody here. There's no waiting time for anything. Space Mountain, walk on. Haunted Mansion, walk on. Pirates of the Caribbean, walk on. The longest I've even seen a wait time for is 30 minutes. Right now, through mid-September, CrowdTracker says the average wait time is 24 minutes per ride. Average. I mean, 24 minutes, you're pretty much getting on everything you want if you want to do that. And maybe more than once. Now, even though visitors are describing it as a ghost town, Disney says, no, no, now, what we've done is that the lines are moving faster because Disney adjusted how many guests enter via the lightning lane. which frees up capacity for the regular guess. Otherwise known as fast pass. I don't know how they do it now, but back in the day, Universal had a fast pass. If you stayed on property, one of the universal properties that was right there, we'd take a boat ride to the Universal theme parks, you could, you would get the fast passes as well. So you buy your tickets, stay on the property, and as a bonus, you would get the fast passes. Now, I don't know if they're doing that, but fast passes were brilliant. It's like, you look at everybody in the regular line going, sorry. And that was a good time. Traditionally, empty weeks after Labor Day, Disney rolls out pretty aggressive deals.
They will sometimes do an $89 per day three park ticket. Now, that'll exclude the Magic Kingdom. And I'm like, I'm all for that. I'm not into the Magic Kingdom. Now, if I had the grandbabies with me and they were old enough to enjoy it, like, I know people have differing ideas on this. I don't believe in bringing kid littles to the theme parks until they're old enough to remember it and experience it. Like if they're going to get dinged and not be able to go on a ride because they're too little, what's the point of spending that money on that? So I'm like, I'm more of a bring them at 7, 8, 9, maybe 6, maybe. But when they're younger than that, it's like, what are they going to remember? I mean, they'll remember it for a few weeks when they're younger than that. but but that's about it they won't really have recall of it until they're older and able to enjoy it but um that's just sort of a in case you know that's something you're interested in is there a set of theme parks that you have been to that you enjoy um universal studios i went once that's pretty cool i did now was it before islands of adventure I believe so. I was real young. Okay. Because I'm a huge universal fan. If I had to choose, I'd pick Universal over Disney. And I would really, I would, I think I would enjoy going back and seeing not just Universal, but Islands of Adventure and now Epic Universe. I will tell you, I'm not a big ride guy. I'll go on some. But the roller coasters, uh-uh. I just, there's, I have to be really careful now. I've never been a roller coaster guy, but especially now, because for reasons that, you know, we've not been able to determine, I have occasionally had to fight off vertigo. And. And there's nothing that triggers it in particular. It just, it happens and has happened to me maybe three or four times in the last 20 plus years. But when it happens, I go hypothermic. My body temperature drops. The lowest I've ever been was 93 degrees. And that was, I won't tell you how they took that temperature. How about that? Does that tell you how they took my temperature? Because they didn't believe the digital the reading. They're like it says 93. That can't be right. So they tried it again, try it again. They went, okay, we got to do this differently. And they went somewhere else. And it was, I, oh man, did I scream? Let's just say the combination of not being prepared and maybe missing the mark added up to massive pain. But I was 93. Now, since then, I have learned a technique that helps me stop the onset of a vertigo attack. And I've managed to do that once. So I haven't had one in a number of years. And so that's good. But my point in all of that is I avoid the big jostling roller coasters because, yeah, I don't want to trigger that in me.
So I'm very particular about the stuff that I go on, but I love being there. The environment of whether it's universal or Disney, just being in that environment, I love it. I just, it makes me happy. So anyway, 28 minutes after the hour, let's do the big stories in the press box, and then we start getting you ready for What's the Beef? Thanks for joining us. It's the morning show with Preston Scott. Let's jump in the way back machine here. Big stories in the press box time on the morning show with Preston Scott. And let's get back to why people, one of the big stories is the Gallup poll showing trusted media at a new low of 28%. And that number is, I think, high because the number includes, no, really, it includes radio. And if you remove radio, because there's, there is virtually no liberal radio out there. It doesn't work. It doesn't get supported by advertisers. Hence, are there liberal talk show hosts? Sure. And there are some that are pretty good. Mike Gallagher's decent. He's not, but he's a radio guy. Air America tried to take celebrities that were liberals and put them on the radio and it didn't work because they're not radio people. There is a specific skill set to do radio. And just because you're a comedian or you're an actor or you're a politician or what have you doesn't mean you can do radio. There are all kinds of things I can't do. That's not my calling. I'm not good at it. Someone would say I'm not good at this, but this is what I do. But let's illustrate, I want to use this as an illustration. At the core of the government shutdown right now is the issue of illegal immigration. them getting money for health care. I'm not going to waste my time trying to argue that point. It's been made over and over again. That's the core of what they're dealing with. They play semantical games by considering them Americans. They're not Americans. And it's the same type of game. It's intellectual dishonesty where they talk about immigration and illegal immigration as one thing. It's not one thing. Immigration is legal immigration. Illegal immigration is separate. And they conflate the two. They merge them together. But I want to illustrate the point. The mainstream media, if it were honest, it would be going into its own archives and playing for Democrats when they do these interviews, the following. Because the tape doesn't lie. You'll recognize the voices. And it's an example of why people don't trust the media. It's as easy as them deciding that they're going to do something about this particular issue. And it's just reminding Democrats of what they've said. And it's simple. And the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes. Senator Biden, yes or no, would you allow the cities to ignore the federal law? No. I think we've got to have tough conditions. Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they've committed a crime, deport them. No questions asked. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws.
And I believe that they must be held accountable, especially those who may be dangerous. This is what the mainstream media should be doing. An honest media holds the mirror up to Republicans, Democrats, independents, to America and reflects what it is. Whatever it is. It's not the media's job to selectively have amnesia when it's convenient. They should be going through all of their own archives and playing this stuff back for Democrats right now, right now. And ask, what's happened to the Democrat Party? This is why the Gallup poll shows trust as low as it is, and it's in reality far lower. It's being artificially kept afloat by people like me. No, seriously, across the country, there are people like me doing radio programs, presenting balance to what is offered by the mainstream media, and that is why there is some trust in the mainstream media, because we're considered by many the media. 40 minutes past the hour. There you go. Simple as that. You're welcome. Thus endeth the lesson.
Uncle Si is in the hospital. He's got a severe sinus infection. But sightless Uncle Cy Robertson. He'll be all right. A little trouble with a little sinus infection. But it's going to be all right. Posting stuff, making people laugh, as always. He's a funny guy. Just naturally funny. Miss Phil Robertson. No nonsense. Unapologetic. Shareer of the gospel. Talk about a guy that was living for the devil and got saved and then became public enemy number one for old Beel Z. Bub. Satan hated him. Hated him. I wrote on the rundown. exactly what the lead research assistant sent me what's wrong with people only i wrote what's wrong with some people now we know what's wrong with people i'll give you a hint starts with an ass ends with an and i is the middle it's sand Big 12 Conference, college football, Colorado played Brigham Young University. And members of the student section decided to chant F the Mormons. Bleep the Mormons. Yeah. And BYU had the ultimate last laugh beating Colorado 24 to 21, but that's not the point now, is it? Dion Bernie Sanders apologize. That's not indicative of who we are. Our student body, our kids are phenomenal, so don't indict us. Just based a group of young kids that probably were intoxicated in high simultaneously. Maybe I shouldn't have said that as well, but the truth is going to make you free. But BYU, we love you, we appreciate you, we support you. Big 12 conference didn't have much to say about it other than you owe us $50,000 for... for the hateful discriminatory language. Has no home in the Big 12 conference. Well, we appreciate Colorado apologizing for the chance that occurred in the stands during Saturday's game. The Big 12 maintains zero tolerance for such behavior. That's fine. Go get them. But let's go back to what my lead research assistant asked. What's wrong with people?
You know, this gets back to, and let me give you a little some help because I can hear it coming and just see if this plays out. Let's see if the student body at Florida State University will catch wind of what I say here because there's some listening, not many, but some. Will they catch wind of the fact that when Florida State beats Miami this weekend? And it's the fourth quarter. And the student section starts saying, overrated. You do realize you're demeaning your win. If you say the team that you're beating is overrated, then you're saying that your win is not that big a deal. And so while that chant is just stupid, and I fear that's what could come. When FSU beats Miami, and I think they will, fourth quarter, you'll start hearing overrated. And if you do, you'll go, he said it. Preston said that was going to happen. And just think about it. It's stupid. You've just said that your victory in that big a deal. It doesn't mean very much because that team wasn't as good as everyone thought. No, Miami's a very good football team. And truth be told, even though some fans of Miami are obnoxious to a core. There are obnoxious fans that are FSU fans. There are obnoxious fans that are Florida fans. There are obnoxious fans that are Georgia fans. Obnoxious fans exist everywhere. Now, the fact that there just seem to be a few more Miami fans that are obnoxious, you know, let's just set that aside for a second. We all have ours, right? But I think it's important to point out that when that cheer comes out, You've just said your win doesn't register as much. Just saying something to think about. I don't get it. What do you think? Come on. Think. Come on, people. Don't you hear that. We are better. Hey, that'll work. Something like that. But then again, I'm the guy that spent literally an entire football season begging the marching chiefs to change the Florida State, Florida State, Florida State, woo, to Florida State, Florida State, Florida State, huh. 48 minutes past the hour. What's the B Friday coming up in mere moments?
I read your notes. I respond to as many as I can. Got a note from a listener. I'll leave the name out of it. He wrote, it seems during the last few days during your show, by the way, this is my effort to cut off a beef. It seems that for the last few days during your show, I have heard spots on WFLA from George Soros's moveon.org. With not surprising misleading information and concluding that with a patent lie that, quote, storms are only getting worse. Shame on WFLA for airing such deceptive biased trash. Very disappointed. And then he dropped a gomer pile. Shame, shame, shame. That was it. Now, obviously, I replied. I wrote back. And perhaps many of you are feeling the same way. You need to understand a few things. And I'll try to put some perspective on this. And I shared this example. I'm not a big fan of Pepsi. Now, I like Wild Cherry Pepsi, okay? But I'm not a huge fan of Pepsi. But guess what? Pepsi can advertise on this show. There are scientists, though corrupted and bought with money, that believe in peddle the lie of gorble warming. They are scientists. They are climatologists. MoveOn.org. If it wants to spend money with us, okay. I'll take their money. I won't take money of an abortion clinic or an abortionist. And I have proven that in my lifetime, by the way. I had a client that I later found out was an abortionist. I did not know that. It was not disclosed to me. A listener told me, did you know that this particular person does this? I did not know that. I dropped him as a client. I'm not accepting blood money. but unless it's porn or something like that if someone wants to buy advertising by law they're allowed to buy advertising and i'll just finalize with this bible says the wealth of the wicked stored up for the righteous yeah i'll take their money i'll use it for good things It's what's to be Friday, 850, 205 WFLA, 850, 205, 9352. Get it off your chest, friends. Two lines are open. Call me now.
What do you say? It's Friday Ruminators. It's time to get it off your chest. We call it What's the Beef? On the morning show with Preston Scott, he's Jose. He's taking your calls, 850-205 WFLA. The lines are busy right now. So as we cycle through a caller, just give it a try. And we'd love to have you on the radio program to get off of your chest, whatever it is that's bothering you. Two rules, no profanity, and don't make it personal. With that said, we go right to the phone lines. I'd love to fit as many of you on the air as possible. Joel, thanks for calling in. You are up. What's the beef? Good morning, Preston. Morning. My beef is that Daryl Jay Jones is still on the school board after the horrible things he said about Charlie Kirk. Yeah. I think that disqualifies him from being on the school board. Bad sign to our students. That kind of behavior is susceptible and shows he has a black heart and doesn't need to be there. Tell me this. What would you say to the other school board members who may be listening right now? I'd say he needs to be disqualified and it needs to be done quickly. If you start he and and and and providing excuses, then you are, you're, you're part of the problem. This kind of behavior doesn't need to be tolerated at all. Needs the light shine on it, and that's what we're missing right now. No one else on the school board will say anything or do anything. The superintendent won't either. I think the people are upset about it. I've heard many people talk about it this weekend. Joel, thank you very much. I appreciate it. I know that there is at least one member of the school board that's listening. and I hope that that school board member does the right thing and summons the moral courage to do something about it. That frees up a line 850-205 WFLA. If you want it, it's yours, but you've got to call now. Lee, thanks for calling in. You're up. What's the beef? Hey, Preston. I want to agree with everything you said about college football a while ago at FSU. There are no ranked opponents left on the schedule after Miami. So I like FSU. I want them to win. I am a lifelong Alabama fan because I grew up over there. I've been here since 2006, and I always like to see FSU do well. With that said, I didn't get to call in after the Bama game, but I'm going to say it now. The FSU fans, especially the student body that I was near during the game, were the worst I've ever seen. Yeah. student fans behave. There were horrible things being said to Alabama fans everywhere, incest, things like that. And I just want to remind these guys, these dirty birds coming up from South Florida are not well behaved like Alabama fans. These guys will cut you a stab, you beat you up, and let's just hope nobody gets seriously hurt this weekend. Hey, tell me this, and I mean this sincerely.
Are the fans that you encountered at FSU are overheard? They're worse than Auburn fans when you guys are battling it out? I have. Auburn fans are actually better Christians than I think most Alabama fans. And even at the Iron Bowl, I've never been to a football game anywhere that was as bad mouth as our first game here this year. And it was pretty bad. It doesn't surprise me. Lee, thanks very much. I appreciate you calling in. We've got lines open 850-205 WFLA. Michael, George, you're going to be next when we come back. What do you want to complain about? It's fair game. Just keep it on the rails. Don't monologue. Don't get off track. Don't compliment me. Find a way to turn the compliment into a beef. For example, if you wanted to say something nice about the radio program, here's what you do. My complaint is that every other radio program isn't as good as yours. See? That's a backhanded way to get it done. No, really, whatever you want to complain about. Michael, George, you're next. It's 10 past the hour. It's the morning show with Preston Scott.
Welcome to MAD Radio Network, where we challenge you to make a difference. And this is the morning show with Preston Scott. Yeah, there are embarrassing fans at all schools. I'm also embarrassed away co-edged dress. Man, come on. Your mama and your daddy and your pawpaw and your Mimi might see you on TV and be just embarrassed by how you dressed. It's 850-205 WFLA. Michael, thanks for hanging in there. What's the beef? Warren Preston, my beef is with the shutdown, and I'm so sick of, oh, doom and gloom and duh, if you ask the average person on the street, has your life changed at all the past 40 hours? No. No. Okay? I have a beef towards President Trump. is he's like, well, I can cut all these federal jobs. Cut them. Cut them. Cut about 500,000 of them and get rid of them. But then you have the Libtar demon rats. Oh, we're going to sue. We're going to tie this up in court. It shouldn't be allowed. He is the chief executive of the executive branch. And if he says, you ain't got a job, you ain't got a job. Hit the bricks. Thank you, Michael. You as well, sir. Now, I think there's a way to do it that makes sense that allows people the opportunity to get, find other work. And I think we're doing that in a lot of areas of the federal government. But in general, I completely agree. 100%. Let's go to George. Hi, George. Good morning. Welcome. Thanks for calling. You're on the air. Good morning, Preston. My beef is with the NFL and Roger Goodell. I'm just counting the days until, you know, the owner's loving because the teams have skyrocketed in value in the TV contracts. But I think they need to get rid of him and put Peyton Manning in as a commissioner of the NFL. Okay. This deal with the bad bunny, the stupid named idiot. Hey, man, what do you mean by that? Hey, homie, come on now. Yeah, yeah. If that goes through, if they actually do that, then I'm done with the NFL. It's grooming on a national, worldwide basis, because he's going to come out there dressed like a woman and all his, you know, his regalia, probably going to kiss another man, which he's done. And then we'll have to explain to kids about this. Yeah, I didn't even get to that. The NFL is giving the fan, 90% of their fan base, the middle finger. And the other thing is, is it is wrong spiritually, Preston. It goes against Christian values. It's wrong spiritually. And it is a full-sized...
you know, grooming activity going to be viewed all over the world. And it's just, I'm done with it if it goes through. All right, George, thanks very much. Let me get to another caller here. John, you're up. What's the beef? Hi, good morning, Preston. Thank you for what you do. My beef is with women who vote. And before everybody goes apoplectic, I can just point out that when they got the right to vote, the first thing they'd done was voted in prohibition and looked at the chaos that caused. Women need to concentrate on the three bees, making babies, making biscuits, and behaving like a lady. Now, young men need to behave. Get off your butt, quit watching porno, get a job, and get out of your folks' house. Quit ruining my day. Y'all have a good weekend. Thank you, John. I love What's the Beef. You never know what you're going to hear. Dean, you're up. What's the beef? Hey, good morning, Preston. Hey, I appreciate what you do. I appreciate it. And it's been listening for a long time. Thank you. I just want to say that, you know, that gloating that they did, like underrated and all that kind of stuff like that. It's not good sportsmanship. Right. That's just what I wanted to say. Thank you. I appreciate it, Dean. Yeah, absolutely. Think about what you say. Dean, thank you. And the cheer is overrated that they bestow on a team that isn't winning the game that people perceive that. For example, Miami is going to be the favorite. I think they are the favorite. But I think Florida State will win this game. But we'll see. That's why they play the game. All right, we've got Michael standing by, another Michael. And then we have one, two, three lines open. I don't expect to see that when I come back from my break. I expect to see the lines full. What do you want to complain about? Get it off your chest. It's 850-205 WFLA.
21 past the hour. This morning show with Preston Scott. Michael, I know you'll understand. I'm letting Sam cut in line because Sam's a young man. And when we got youngsters listening to the program, I encourage that. So Sam, you're up. What do you have for me? What's the beef? Hey, Preston. Hi. Me and my mom listen to you every day on the way to school. Thank you. And my beef is where I live. There's like, because Hurricane Michael came and destroyed like all these buildings and areas. And they're like just sitting there when they can be for good use, like stores or schools and stuff like that. So where you are living in that area, there are a lot of usable buildings that are sitting destroyed? Mm-hmm. Okay. So they just need a little love, huh? Mm-hmm. Got you. Some stuff are, like, just, like, not, like, they're just sitting there. They look like they are used, but, like, they're just not being new. So there's a shell of a building still there that could be repaired? Like a grocery outlet. Okay. Is, like, destroyed and... It looks like they might be rebuilding it or something. What area are we talking about, Sam? Give me kind of the neighborhood or the city nearby. Me and my mom live in Panama City Beach in Florida. Gotcha. Fair enough. Sam, thank you. I appreciate you calling in. Thanks for listening to the program. Have a great day at school, okay? Yes, sir. Thank you. See, that's why we let youngsters cut in line because I want to encourage. Kids like Sam, we're listening to the program. Sam, well done, well spoken, very articulate young man. Michael, thanks for calling in. What's the beef? Thank you. And then also thank you to Sam. My beef is with the liberals that are protesting the ICE detentions. Apparently, not only do they know what they are doing, they apparently don't know how to drive either. And my advice to them is before they get out of their car, they should put it into parking before they go protest. That's my beast person. Thank you, Michael. For those of you that don't know what he's talking about, a protester showed up at an upset at an ICE agent arresting an illegal immigrant. She jumped out of her car, not putting it in park. And with the car still running, she jumps out of her car to get mad and to scream at the officers while her car just drifted off into a lake and sunk. It was beautiful. It was absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to find out how she explained that to the insurance company. Too funny. Thanks for the phone call. Let's go to Tim. Tim, second of the last caller here. You're up. What's the beef? Good morning. My beef is what the grocery stores here in Tallahassee. I'm trying to eat healthy, and I would like to use whole wheat bread crumbs, and no store carries them, and you can't get them through special order. It just drives me crazy. Usually I go to Tampa to see my children, and I stock up while I'm down there to bring back. But yesterday I needed some to make a dish, and I could not find them at any store in Tallahassee. So if...
If you go to a Publix and you talk to the manager, the grocery manager, they can't order it for you? That's another whole beef. They're special order. Well, we're not supposed to name them, but anyway, their special order, I've given up. I've tried so many times to special order stuff, and I think I've had success one time. Okay. So, I know that doesn't work. Have you gone Amazon route, Amazon.com? I do sometimes. I haven't for that, but usually their food items are way overpriced. Well, you might check out Whole Foods and see what they can do because they are affiliated with Amazon. No, I've gone through there and look at their stuff too. They don't have them either. How about that? Tim, thanks for calling in. Hopefully we'll find a solution for that. But at least you have one, right? You just go see the family down in Tampa. Larry, you are the final caller. What's the beef? How are you doing, Preston? Good. I just want to talk about Colorado. I went out to Colorado in 2007 when we played them out there. And the worst fan base I've ever been around. That is a liberal hellhole. There are students that have been like that. They're just liberal. It's unbelievable. I've never been treated worse than in Boulder. And I've been to Gainesville, Miami, Auburn, all the places. And never have I seen a fan base like that. That's all I have to say. Thank you very much. Appreciate the phone call. Yeah, it's so interesting because I've not found a fan base. that can claim the high ground with the exception of one. Oral John Roberts University. But there may be an exception of that one too. Friends, thanks for calling in. When we come back, Mary Rock will join us from Esposito Garden Center from the ground up. We're going to help you with your porchcaping. Uh-huh. Porch-scaping next on the morning show with Preston Scott.
Didn't that music just scream fall? Harvest. Cooler weather. Heck yeah, it does. Welcome, friends. From the ground up. Brought to you by Esposito Nurseries and Esposito Garden Center. Mary Rock, General Manager, joins us. Mary, just to be clear, a porch is at the front of the house, right? Not necessarily. Okay. You could have a back porch too. Really? I've always thought the back was the patio. Wrap around porch. You could call it that, but you know, I call my back porch a porch. Okay, fair enough. Yeah. So, I mean, the calendar finally says it's officially fall, but I think for a lot of us, once it gets to September, we sort of start thinking that way. What are some things that can help make it feel a little bit more like fall in and around our house? Well, the addition of, you know, the fall staples, you've got scarecrows, pumpkins, hay, your Halloween decorations, porchcaping is something that we promote, and we do. We actually have clients that we go in and we decorate their porches seasonally, and fall is one of the biggest times that we do that. Okay. Yeah, so, you know, the addition of plants, foliage, pumpkins, and hay. A lot of people don't know how to make it work, how to balance it, so we do offer that service. And all that stuff makes you feel, you know, you know that the holidays are coming. The next step is Christmas. So, you know, starting with fall, it gives you that warm, cozy feeling when you come home to your front porch and it's all decorated and nice. You know, it gives you that... Yeah, that warm fuzzy feeling. If I'm channeling my inner Joanna Gaines or Aaron Napier, I'm thinking that the key to the decor side of this is to not necessarily overdo it with any one particular thing. Is that fair? You would be absolutely correct, Preston. And it balances everything. You know, you don't want to overdo it. You don't want to put all the decorations on your front porch. You want to be able to edit and make it clean, pretty, simple, a few flowers, you know, just not overdoing it. We are going to do the biggest favor in the world. If you can unlock the secret. to caring for mums through this season. How, what is overwatering look like? What does underwatering look like? And do you deadhead mums? Do you, do you, after the blooms have, have had their moment? Do you cut them? Do you pick them? Do you pinch them? What do you do?
Everybody has their own way of doing it. But yes, cut them back after they're done blooming. I like to pinch them off. It's just, it relaxes me for some reason. It does. It's therapy for you. Yeah, it's therapy. Watering them, a lot of folks will buy them, buy mums, and they'll come in those plastic sleeves. You want to make sure to take that off. We see it all the time. People bring in their mom, and they'll have the plastic sleeve, and it's all withered and sad look, and it's because it drown. You know, you water it, and all that water collects in that plastic sleeve. and they don't like to have wet feet. So, you know, you want to make sure that they get plenty of water, but you don't want to overwater them. You know, water them, let the water bleed through. A couple of days later, check back to see if it needs more. And when you're watering, try to water at the surface of the soil. Not necessarily on the blooms. And at the surface of the soil, and do we want to have the soil completely dry? Do we go down deep to check it? Or do we want it to have some moisture when we water it again? A little moisture. You want to definitely make sure that it's not thopping wet at the bottom. You know, and if you check it, you know, you don't, you want to stick your fingers pretty far down in the pot to see if it, you know, if it's still moist or not. And you don't, the mistake we see a lot of people let it completely dry out to the point where the, you know, the flowers are starting to shrivel. And moms, they don't like that. They don't recover well. Their recovery is not pretty. Do you need to feed them? You can feed them, absolutely. Typically, mums that come in that are in bloom, they've been fed. If you're planting them in the ground or in a pot, we do recommend you plan them with biotone by ispoma. It's a fantastic fertilizer. It'll get them rooted in really well. And they should be good until next spring. And sometimes you'll have them bloom in the spring. The moms I have, they always give me a second blooming in the early to mid-spring. How long is that flower bloom supposed to last? When you get them at the store, they look so beautiful. How long should those blooms last? They should last.
two weeks or so. A lot of it depends on how open they are. I always look for the ones that are kind of a tight bud. Yep. You know, if I have time, that way they last a lot longer. The ones that are just completely in full bloom, those blooms, they're going to start dying off here and there probably over a matter of a week or so. Good intel, Mary. Thanks for the time. We'll talk again in a couple weeks. All right. Thank you. Thank you. Mary Rock from Esposito Garden Center. And they're online at Esposito Garden Center.com. Morning show with Preston Scott. Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast. On WFLA. Time for a little good news. We like to just take the final half hour of the show and just, yeah, exhale. Uh-huh. This story I've saved. Cal Raleigh, FSU, baseball player, great FSU player. He was like this line that we had. We had Buster Posey, then we had Cal Raleigh. We're like Catcher University, right? And Cal ends up having one of those seasons in Major League Baseball. I think he should be the MVP. Mariners, one of the top teams in Major League Baseball. Cow Raleigh hit his 60th home run. Before the season ended, they won the American League West title for the first time in 24 years. But listen to this. The guy who, a fan caught in Seattle, his 60th home run. Now, to put some context on that, for those of you that might not be baseball aficionados, there are seven players in Major League history with 60 home runs. Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, I'll wink, wink, nod, Mark McGuire, and Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds, because they all cheated. And Aaron Judge, who didn't cheat. So in my mind, he's the fourth honest player in baseball history to hit 60 or more home runs. That's incredible. So this fan catches the ball and he gives it to a little boy that's nearby that's not his. It's not his son. It's just some random kid that he hands the ball to. Well, at that point... That boy and his dad are led by security workers to have the ball authenticated. But the boy said, this is the dad, Galen Reelos. My son whispered to me and said, Dad, because it's Cal, I want him to have the ball. His dad said, he was never thinking, are we going to keep it for money? That wasn't even a thought. We have the future MVP, hopefully, and my son Marcus touched history. That's kind of more precious. He'll live with that forever. So they gave the ball away to Cal Raleigh. In return...
The Mariners hear about all this. They try to identify who is this fan who gave this ball away to this little boy. The first fan who caught it, they identified him. His name is Glenn. They're not naming him. And Cal Rowley gave Glenn and his family a signed bat with two baseballs, which he gave to his kids. The boy who gave it to him. The Mariners said a gracious, sincere, random act of kindness. They gave him a signed bat and took the family down to, and they got to, the boy got to be on the field for batting practice. Come on. Everybody won. Cal Raleigh got his baseball back. Two kids got the experience of a lifetime. I mean, friends, when you think of others first, good happens. And that is the purpose of this segment called Good News.
Monday back with another exciting edition of the morning show with Preston Scott. I wishafel will join us. We will also talk about the multi-million dollar government museum that no one attends. There's no waste. There's no waste in government. We'll have Dr. Joe Camps with us, plus cover everything that goes on in the news. First, a dad joke. Why aren't? This comes from Greg. Greg sent this. Why aren't koala bears? Why aren't koala's actual bears? Because they don't meet the koala facations. Koalaifications. All right, time for some satire. Ladies and gentlemen, these are headlines courtesy of the Babylon B. Democrat heads to gun range to practice for debate. And nation erupts in celebration as government finally shuts down. Brought to you by Baranow Heating and Air. It's the Morning Show 180 on WFLA. Thanks to the Babylon B. For the headlines. Big stories in the press box today. Trump notifies Congress of armed conflict with drug cartels. That's a win. Democrats destroyed Memphis. That's what the sign said in the CNN photo bomb. Guy photo bombed the live shot holding up a sign. This is an example of a blue city and a red state. Memphis is being overrun by criminals, but not no more. In one week, they've arrested nearly 100 with the help of the National Guard. Portland, though, is under siege. City officials prevented the police from helping at the ICE detention center. You heard right. That's one of the headlines right now. Portland Ice Facility under siege, city leaders block police from answering calls. Gallup, trust in the media at a new low. It's only bolstered by the fact that radio was included in the polling. Otherwise, it would be probably in the teens, if not lower. But it's already at a record low. Playing Parenthood's Prevention Park, 78,000 square feet of death and dismemberment has been permanently closed in Houston. What a win. Spike the football on that. Speaking of football, will the Super Bowl, will the NFL keep the plan of bad bunny at halftime at the Super Bowl? I'm betting no, but we'll see. Have a great weekend. Go Knowles.
