It's kind of an audio magazine format. If you've never joined us for the program and you just stumbled in here this morning, stick down, take some time. Just let us have the opportunity to love on you a little bit. Give you a little encouragement, some information, maybe a laugh or two. And a guest here and there. Today, Dr. Bob McClure joins us from the James Madison Institute. Some fascinating polling from the Sunshine State we will discuss and unpack. But first, we always start with what matters most. God's word. Moms and dads, what do you think you would communicate to your children? the, as Rush would say, Ute of America. By starting your day with them, with God's Word. And I get it. It can be intimidating. Where do you start? It's a big library. And that's the thing. The Bible is in fact a library. It's a library of books all bound together as one. And that's why I do these segments to kind of point in a direction, give you something to talk about. If you don't have something you want to share or read, discuss, pray over together. And this segment was started because of that to encourage you to spend a little time with your kids, praying over them, loving on them, hugging them, letting them hear the words, I love you, and seeing you. with your eyes locked on theirs as you say it. They didn't do what they were supposed to do. You got the rest of the day to deal with it. But send them off with a love, a hug, and most importantly, God's word. John 1512, this is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you.

3:55

We have this tendency to just boil that down to one specific type of love. The warm and fuzzy and awe kind of love. Let's hug it out, you know? Let's hug. Come on. Come on, everybody. Let's just all hug. Come on. Can we be friends and just love? That's part of it. But tell me, are you showing love to your kids if you let them do anything they want? Are you showing love to your kids by never saying no? Love takes many forms. And just remember, the basis of that, love one another, as... I have loved you, Jesus. So what did Jesus do to demonstrate his love? He spoke truth. He spoke to the hurts. He spoke to the heads. He spoke to the hearts. He spoke things that weren't always comfortable. He said to the woman at the well.

5:24

I'm not condemning you. Everyone had fled. No one was throwing stones at her. Nothing. He said now, don't do this anymore. Sin no more. That's love. So remember, love takes different forms. And the Bible gives us a description of what love is. It defines it. It's patient and kind. It never boasts. And the list goes on and on. 10 past the hour. There's a good start for your day. John 1512 here on the morning show with Preston Scott. Morning Show with Preston Scott. You're mocking me, aren't you? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. On News Radio 100.7, WFLA. October the 8th. 1860. Telegraph line between Los Angeles and San Francisco opens up. You know, when you think about it, that's, that was a remarkable first step at communication. Hey guys, it is Ryan. For years, Chumba's been set in the bar for online social casino fun, and it just keeps getting better. With new games released every week and daily bonuses to collect, the fun never stops. So claim your welcome bonus now at chumbacasino.com. No purchase necessary. VGW. Group prohibited by law. See terms and conditions. 21 plus. Communicating with basically electronic clicks and signals. Over hundreds of miles. Eventually it would be thousands. It's crazy. 1860. If I understand correctly, President Lincoln got updates on key battles of the war through the telegraph. 1871, the Great Chicago Fire begins. Reportedly, when Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicks over a lantern. The blaze destroys downtown, kills 250, leaves 90,000 homeless. 1871, same day, a massive forest fire burns through Wisconsin and Michigan, killing 1,200 people. Wow. Same day as the Chicago fire. And in 1918, Alvin York almost single-handedly kills two dozen German soldiers and captures 132 prisoners in France's Argonne Forest. The story of Sergeant York is singularly one of the best stories of an American hero. Thirty years of age, Backwoods Tennessee Farmer,

8:50

Only recently gave up his hog-wild days of drinking and carousing, asked his sweetheart to marry him. He had embraced the pacifist Christian faith of his widowed mother. He would later say, I loved and trusted old uncle Sam. I always believed he did the right thing, but I was worried clean, though. I didn't want to go and kill. He'd grown up hunting. It was discovered that he was an astonishingly good shot. In October 8th, 1918, his marksmanship saved American lives. His patrol ran into a German machine gun nest. Our boys just went down like long grass before the mowing machine at home, he recalled. He went on the attack, picking off 25 Germans with his rifle and pistol before their commander surrendered. By the time York and his companions got back to headquarters, they had a long line of prisoners. Well, York, I hear you captured the whole German army. An officer said to him, he replied, no, I only have 132. Promoted the sergeant, awarded the Medal of Honor, greeted in New York City with a ticker tape parade after the war. He declined to grow rich off his fame. He returned to Tennessee, married his fiance, established a school for mountain children, and farmed the land as he had before. Thus, the story of Sergeant Alvin York. The only thing that would make that story any better is if he invented the peppermint paddy. But he didn't. American Touch Tag Day. There are some schoolyards that have banned the game of tag. True story. Because no child should be it. The fear is that the chubby kids end up being it. And I will categorically tell you, no. Unless they demand to be it, they're not it. They're never it. Because it's no fun. No, it just isn't. The person who's it has to be an elite athlete for it to be a fun game. And then there's strategy cornering the person who's it so you can tag them. It's National Fluffer Nutter Day, National Perogi Day, and National Hero Day. What's Fluffer Nutter? That is, do you know what it is? Yeah, yes, sir. It's a marshmallow cream and peanut butter sandwich. So instead of jelly, it's like a marshmallow spread. Okay. It's pretty good. In 1913 during World War I, Emma and Amory, Amory, Curtis of Melrose, Massachusetts invented snowflake marshmallow cream. published a recipe for a peanut butter and marshmallow cream sandwich fluffer nutter. All right. Well, all right, all right. 17 past the hour. I'm a better person for knowing that.

12:45

For all your gamers out there, do you know the first video game available for home computers? You know what it was? Any idea? Pong? Uh-uh. Oh. Space War. It was developed in 1962 by programmer Steve Russell. And it was the first video game available for home computers. Though, when you say Pong, man, I remember. I remember the days, Atari, the little, the paddle, and you just spin it back and forth. Pong was awesome. Some of those early games, so simplistic, but at the time, we marveled at them. It was crazy. It was crazy. What's the first video game you remember playing? I would have to say Frogger. Okay. Yeah, I was, oh, what a good game. I was a baby at a dentist office, and they had a Frogger on this ancient computer. And, yeah, I remember that. Frogger was great. That would, there are just, there are some, some of those original games. I want to say it's like Atari in television or something like that. It might have been the game maker. I don't know. But that was ridiculous. And I remember when the first Nintendo came out. See that? I mean, I've watched this stuff evolve. And I remember playing. For me, the first video game. And it was funny. I just talked about it at lunch the other day after church. The first video game, a buddy of my dads named Bob Bernie invented a football video game. It wasn't video so much as it was. Video might not be the right name. It might be the first computer game that I had ever heard of or knew of. This guy developed this thing in 1962. And I don't know if anyone had home computers at that stage. Bob's invention involved those cards that used to be computer program cards where holes would be punched out and would direct the computer to think or do certain things. And he had this massive football field underneath a dome, a plastic dome. And I mean, it was a table. It was the size of a small table for four. It was rectangular in shape, like the shape of a football field. And there was a set of cards for offense and a set of cards for defense. And you would just switch sides if your team had the ball. And you'd put your card in. They'd put their card in. And then it would read their defense against your offense or vice versa and give you the result. And then the ball would move. There would be lights on the field that told you where your ball was. And then there weren't kickoffs or anything like that. You'd start at your own 20. And then you'd hand over the cards. If you scored, you'd hand over the cards. And if you didn't score, then they'd get the ball where you are. You'd hand over the cards. They'd hand over the cards and you'd switch. And you're calling the best defense against what you think they're going to run on offense. It was great fun. Never found out what happened to that game. But...

16:20

To be around during that time when video games started to become something. Absolutely amazing. Hey, guess what restaurant chain is putting up the biggest, tallest American flags at all of its locations across the country? Just think about that. 27 minutes past the hour. I'll tell you about it next. The big stories in the press box here on the morning show with Preston Scott. Looking for a little Hollywood-style fun? Check out Ryan Seacrest, 10K ways, exclusively at Chumba Casino. There's 10,000 ways to play. Get spinning for free at chumpacasino. No purchase necessary. VGW Group, voidware prohibited by law. CTs and Cs, 21 Plus, sponsored by Chumba Casino. Morning Show with Preston Scott. On News Radio 100.7, WFLA. Big stories in the press box, big flags in the press box. But first, let's polish off a couple of other stories. Is this the best Democrats can do? The Virginia Attorney General candidate. Jay Jones. Allegedly, he did conversation about public policy and pain involving qualified immunity for police. The guy who wants to be the attorney general for the state of Virginia, the Commonwealth of Virginia said, allegedly.

18:16

that if more police officers were killed, they would shoot fewer people. Excuse me? Now remember, this is about qualified immunity, which protects police officers from personal liability in the line of their duty, the line of their work, doing their job. He thinks that if police got killed more often, there would be fewer people shot, meaning that somehow qualified immunity prevents that? And that they would then hesitate if they didn't have qualified. We saw what happened. In the wake of some of the publicized things that happened nationally, police officers, I predicted it would happen because I talked to law enforcement personnel, hesitated. And those moments of hesitation cost many of their lives. But that's not all he said. He texted, this is not in dispute. Quote, three people. Two bullets. Former Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert. Hitler and Pol Pot, who was a ruthless leader in what, Vietnam, maybe, or Korea or something like that. Gilbert gets two bullets in the head. Spoiler. Put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time. When the person he was texting pushed back, he said he hoped that Gilbert's wife, Jennifer Gilbert's children, would die. She said, he said only people, only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy calling these young children little fascists. And he wants to be the Attorney General. He now is apologizing for this stuff, regrets ever saying it. But this is the person that they've got rolling out as the Attorney General candidate for Virginia. DHS arresting a guy yesterday, at least it was announced yesterday, who put a hit out on U.S. Border Patrol Chief Greg Gregory Bovino. member of the Latin King Street Gang. They have monetary fees being paid out if anyone gets information about some leadership in ICE or Homeland Security and even more money if they kill him. He was arrested because they then, after hearing about it, did surveillance and obtained all of his record screenshots and everything. And yeah.

21:36

What are these things have in common, Democrats? This is all because of Democrats. Not just illiberals, Democrats. Where is this off-the-hook violence coming from? It's coming from Democrats. It's coming from their policies. It's coming from their rhetoric. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to steak and shake, because steak and shake is the franchise that wants to put the biggest, tallest American flags at restaurants nationwide. They are putting the largest flags up that local ordinances will allow in every one of their 397 steak and shake locations. Now, the president of the United States is wrong with his executive order banning flag burning. Look, I wish it didn't happen, but it is protected speech. The Supreme Court has ruled on it. In 1989, you can't. It's a flag. It's important. It's symbolic. Absolutely. But if someone wants to burn it in a protest, fine. Now, if they burn it. Where and when they're not supposed to, that's a problem. You can arrest them for that. But that's a side story. Steak and shake. Salute that flag and go have some beef tallow fries. Loving it. 40 minutes past the hour. It's the morning show with Preston Scott.

23:25

Go Jose, says the email. You get the prize this morning. If you use smuckers, all natural, crunchy peanut butter, you'll save a few calories. It will taste better. And you can use more marshmallow fluff. And maybe feel less guilty, LOL. That's from Linda. It is national, what is it, fluffer nutter? Yeah, what it's called? Fluffer Nutter Day. Yeah, it's a fun word. Yeah, it is. Yeah. It's one I probably won't remember, but yeah, absolutely. You remember the story of the guy, put a 10 up outside St. Matthews Cathedral before the Red Mass event. Red Mass is an annual event where the Supreme Court justices, many of them, if not all, show up. before the fall term. This from the Washington Post, the guy apprehended, who we will not name, had over 200 handmade bombs in his home. Bottle rockets, Molotov cocktails, and...

24:54

Quoting the story, he had hundreds in the tent on the steps of the Capitol or the cathedral. According to court records, he expressed animosity toward, make a list, the Catholic Church, Supreme Court Justices, the Jewish faith, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. When officers asked him to leave, he said, you might want to stay back and call the Federales. I have explosives. So this encounter continues. He says, if you just step back, I'll take out that tree. No one will get hurt. They'll just be a hole where the tree used to be. He then told officers, quoting, several of your people are going to die from one of these. In an attempt to de-escalate, this again from the post, the sergeant agreed to read what he had written down. He unzipped a flap of a tent, handed over nine pages torn out of his notebook, written negotiations for the avoidance of destruction of property via detonation of explosives. That's what it was titled. Nine pages.

26:19

Sergeant noticed he had a butane lighter and an unknown white cap-shaped object clinched in his hand. Shun zipped the rest of the flap, which angered him. He began reaching into a dark bag, according to court documents, told her, all right, if you want to do it, we'll do it now. He said he was the only one who wrote the notes. As he spoke, he began pulling out multiple-capped vials containing a yellow liquid with illegal explosives, explosive devices taped to them. He hovered his right thumb over the butane lighter top, posed to ignite it. He said, you better have these people step away. There's going to be deaths, I'm telling you now. So this guy was seriously preparing to kill people. I want you to consider this, though, because this jumps off of our last set of stories. Animosity toward the Catholic Church. Who was spying on the Catholic Church over the last four years? Joe Biden, his administration, the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, they were spying on the Catholic Church. Who's been trying to kill Supreme Court justices? Leftists? Who hates the Jewish faith and stands up for Hamas? Democrats. Ironically, a bunch of Jews vote Democrat. Go explain that to me. There are some Jews, though, that live with that same kind of guilt thing that some white illiberals have. And they think they're evil. Oh, if I, if I could stop being Jewish, I would. Whatever. And then who hates ICE? U.S. Customs and immigration enforcement. Who? The left. This is, this is just a continuation. It's the same, same song, different verse. 47 minutes past the hour. Speaking of songs and verses. Hoo-wee! Our from now, no way, Jose. I tee up our broadcast producer, Jose Can You see the stories that have stood out to him and why? It's coming up next hour. But first, I said, boy, talk about songs and verses. Zach Bryan. This is a classic double entendre. I wrote this down yesterday in a moment of inspiration. What has happened to our country? Not just our country, but our country? as in country music. What has happened to our country? Zach Bryan is not a closet illiberal. Zach Bryan is frequently critical of police. And look, he has every right to be a jerk. That's fine. Nothing wrong with that.

29:56

But what he wrote, his song, Bad News, and his reaction to the reaction to it? Listen, listen to some of the lyrics. And I can't, I can't even repeat them word for word. My friends are all degenerates, but they're all I got. The generational story of dropping the plot. I heard the cops came, cocky, bleep, bleeps, ain't they? And I'm talking about the MF word. And ice is going to come bust down your door. Try to build a house. No one builds no more. But I got a telephone. Kids are all scared and all alone. The bar stopped bumping. The rock stopped rolling. The middle fingers rising. And it won't stop showing. Got some bad news the fading of the red, white, and blue. He is getting blistered. Rightfully so. It's trash. Now, I couldn't pick out a Zach Bryan song if there were five songs, unless four of them were Chikovsky. I could pick him out. He writes, this shows how divisive a narrative can be when shoved down our throats through social media. This song is about how much I love this country and everyone in it more than anything. When you hear the rest of the song, you will understand the full context that hits both sides of the aisle. Everyone using this now as a weapon is only proving how devastatingly divided we all are. We need to find our way back. You think your lyrics are about finding a way back from the division? I served this country, and if he did, God bless you for it, but you forgot the lessons you learned and why you served. I love this country, and the song itself is about all of us coming out of this divided space. Really? That's what this song's about. Have you read your own lyrics, young man? And look, I have no, I have no illusion. Zach Bryan's not going to hear a word. I have to say, I wish he would. That's so condescending calling him a young man. Well, he is. He's a young man who hasn't lived enough life, and he's writing nothing but divisive nonsense. And this extreme right he refers to in the rest of his post, please share that with me. I'd love to know how this extreme right is shaping America like the extreme left is. Tyler Reddick here from 2311 racing. Victory Lane? Yeah, it's even better with Chumba by my side. Race to ChumpaCasino.com. Let's Chumba. No purchase necessary. VGW Group. Void were prohibited by law. CTNCs, 21 Plus. Sponsored by Chumba Casino.

If I passed the hour of the morning show with Preston Scott, and we're going to take a little time on this. Just not the whole half hour, but we're going to take a few minutes. We do have Florida man coming up. We've got a segment of No Way, Jose. Third hour, Dr. Bob McClure, JMI, joins us. Matt Vespett Town Hall summarizes a remarkable development. CIA director John Ratcliffe has dusted off and declassified a report we can now all read. Now I'm going to give you the headline. The CIA compiled a report of what Joe Biden was doing in Ukraine when he was vice president. They had sources. They talked to people in the government. They had their own surveillance going on. And it wasn't a very flattering report. It was a report from 2016, the tail end of the Obama-Biden administration. You know what happened to the report? At the demand of Joe Biden, it got dumped. They did not release the report, but the report remained. Ukrainians thought that Joe Biden's leadership skills were questionable. And as a nation were amused by the fact that... His family's alleged corruption ties to the country even existed. The fact that Hunter Biden sat on the board of this company called Burisma, which was widely perceived as a pipeline for government access for a handsome fee. All of this was going to be in a report. compiled by the CIA. But the problem was that would have destroyed the alleged skills of Joe Biden as a foreign statesman. So Biden and his office moved to have it squashed. The report exposes all kinds of things.

36:10

At the specific request of then Vice President Joe Biden, the CIA buried an embarrassing intelligence report detailing the poor view the Ukrainian government took of his diplomatic efforts and the business dealings of his own family in that country. Biden had traveled to Kiev, or Kiev, in December 2015, ostensibly to meet with leaders of that fledgling democracy and to deliver a warning against, quote, the cancer of corruption. And during an address to the Ukrainian parliament, he did condemn the pervasive poison of cronyism, corruption, and kleptocracy. Whatever that is. But behind the scenes, Ukrainian officials expressed bewilderment and disappointment that the vice president had crossed the Atlantic almost exclusively to deliver a generic speech. Officials close to then President Petro Poroshenko. had hoped for guidance in support of or against specific officials within the Ukrainian government. They discovered instead that Biden had no intention of discussing substantive matters. After Biden returned stateside, members of the Porchenko administration privately mused at how the American media treated the alleged ties of his family to corrupt business practices in Ukraine. In their minds, it was evidence of a double standard within the United States government towards matters of corruption and political power. That was the determination in the report. That comes from the report. So Biden orders the intelligence community to bury it because it put him in a bad light and they obliged. Oh, but there's more to this story. 10 past the hour. Don't you dare. Leave me. All right. So let's put this into some context here. Barisma was, was, it was dissolved in 2023. Interesting, huh? When Joe Biden was president of the United States, the company that his son was on the board of with no expertise in energy at all. Hunter Biden had expertise in cocaine and prostitutes. That's his level of expertise.

38:59

And he's sitting on the board of Burisma, this massive energy company in Ukraine. Interestingly enough, a guy named Victor Shokin, Ukraine's prosecutor general, was investigating Burisma, was investigating corruption, was investigating everything to do with this company. This was all testified to and laid out by a guy named Tony Babelinski, who was a business partner of the Bidens, who gave intimate details, documents to Congress. He testified. He has spoken clearly. I've shared his testimony. He outlined and laid out the entire thing. He was distressed because what he thought was an honest business arrangement was corrupt. And it was all about funneling money to the big guy, Joe Biden. But remember now, there's an investigation underway. Biden is the chief liaison from the United States to Ukraine. How did he get that assignment? The same way he got the assignment to China. His son was on a board of a company in China as well that he had no knowledge of their business. This was all about funneling money for favors for gaining access to the United States, the government of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. So Biden catches wind of the investigation. It's going to be bad. He goes over. He asks Obama for permission to go over there because there were allegedly going to be loan guarantees for the government of Ukraine. Tyler Redick here from 2311 racing. Victory Lane? Yeah, it's even better with Chumba by my side. Race to Chumpa Casino.com. Let's Chumba. No purchase necessary. VTW Group. Void were prohibited by law. CT&Cs, 21 Plus, sponsored by Chumba Casino. In 2018, a year and some change after being out of office, Joe Biden is on television at the Council for Foreign Relations. In 2019, and he says this. I remember going over convincing our team, or others to convincing us that we should be providing for loan guarantees. Now, why did he convince our government to give them loan guarantees? Because he needed leverage. Let it go. It continues. I guess the 12th, 13th time to Kiev, and I was supposed to announce that there was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. And I had gotten a commitment from Poroshenko and from Yotsynuk that they would take action against the state prosecutor, and they didn't. So they said they were walking out to press conference and said, no, I said, I'm not going to, we're not going to give you the billion dollars. Excuse me?

42:32

This was supposed to be a quid pro quo. We're going to give you the loan guarantees if you fire the prosecutor doing the investigation of corruption of Burisma, which involves his son. Now, just for a second, and I know we're going to run long here. Imagine if this were the other way around. Imagine if an official from China. says to the president of the United States, you fire that state attorney or that U.S. attorney in such and such a district or else. Excuse me? You're telling me how to conduct business in my own country? Continues. They said, you have no authority. You're not the president. The president said, I said, call him. I said, I'm telling you, you're not getting the billion dollars. I said, you're not getting the billion. I'm going to be leaving here. I think it was, what, six hours? I looked at, I said, I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor's not fired, you're not getting the money. The prosecutor investigating the company, his son was sitting on the board of directors. Oh, son of a bit. Got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid. Solid, meaning someone who stopped the investigation and would not look into his son. Ask yourself this. Why were we so intent when Joe Biden was president to give money to Ukraine? Ukraine has receipts. That's why.

44:17

Receipts of what? You just heard it. Joe Biden, I believe in that, admits to a crime. Brags about a crime. Because he's Joe Biden. And remember what Barack Obama once said about Joe. Never underestimate Joe's ability to bleep up a situation. 17 past the hour. How bad was he? There you go. On your phone with the IHeart radio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos. Dude, yes! And IHeart's radio station. Read something insane, I probably did it. I'm a fodder for the bloggers, go ahead and Google my name. Now, there is no way into the sins I have committed. And we all feel better when we have somebody to black. Trevor Man. Oh, yeah, Florida Man here on the morning show with Preston Scott. Witnesses told investigators, a 42-year-old Florida man showed up at a nearby gas station trying to trade an alligator for a six-pack of beer. When that failed, he reportedly drove straight to jail. burst through the lobby and proudly announced that his reptile was his legal counsel. He shows up shirtless, holding a live alligator, and then demanding that they release his cousin immediately. What? Staff asked him to leave. He slammed the animal on the counter and shouted, this gator passed the bar. before attempting to climb over the reception desk. Deputies wrestled him down, confiscated the gator, charged him with resisting arrest and lawful possession of an alligator. I would think animal cruelty for slamming the alligator down and trespassing on jail property. We don't have any more details. I can't verify the story other than it's out there all over the place. And he was booked with a bond set at $7,000 not payable in reptiles. A picture, a mugshot of him is out. If it's him, it's classic. This dude's a meth head. There's no way around it. Then we have a Florida man story that is actually a Florida whoa man story. Port Charlotte. This confirmed from WBBBH. Charlotte County Sheriff responding to a public store on Tamiami Trail in Punta Gorda at 10, 12 in the morning. So you're thinking, okay, I mean, seriously, at 10 a.m., you're normally not dealing with intoxicated people, right? You're just not, though it happens, you're not dealing with much of anything. But at this stop,

47:57

We have a report of a stolen motorized shopping cart. And it was seen driving south on Tamiami Trail from airport road. So they tracked down and they find 42-year-old Robin Zick, she of Punta Gorda. At a Circle K gas station, about a mile from the Publix, she told them she took the cart to go to a medical appointment she had. She told deputies she planned on driving the cart to her appointment, then bringing it back to Publix. Well, here's the good news. There was definitely not going to be a high-speed chase. She was in fact arrested on charges of grand theft and brought to a hospital for further evaluation. Ah, the legend of Florida man. Now crosses over to Florida woman. 27 past the hour. Come back. Big stories in the press box. A stunning statement. by the leading mayoral candidate of New York City, and no way Jose is still to come this hour. On the morning show with Preston Scott.

I already booked my first speaking engagement at a Turning Point USA chapter. Just a reminder, if you have a TPUSA chapter and you would like me to come and it's within a drive, I can do it. As long as I can make it for a, as long as it's a lunch meeting, I can do it. So let me know how I can help if you want. But I'm going to keep saying Democrats because until the rank-and-file Democrats cut off the extremists that are fueling this violence and this rhetoric, like, for example, Jay Jones, the Attorney General candidate for Virginia, This is really the best Virginia has to offer from the Democrat Party is an attorney general candidate that at one time said that more police need to die in order for police to shoot fewer people. And then said that if he had two bullets, he would shoot and kill a former colleague in the Virginia legislature. or at least the former speaker, I'm not sure if he was in the legislature at any point, he would shoot him in the head. I'm curious to see what happens when New York elects a socialist mayor. If businesses begin to leave in greater numbers than they already have because of the tax policies of New York City. But when you hand over control to socialists, let me tell you something. The recovery from that doesn't just happen with another election. It takes decades to undo the damage that's going to come. City-owned grocery stores, city-owned housing, city-owned business. You don't just pry that stuff free. And then there's the dangerous, racist, bigoted. rhetoric that comes from his mouth on the anniversary yesterday of the terrorist attacks by Hamas which to his credit he condemned Hamas carried out a horrific war crime no no no no no no no it was not a war crime it was a terrorist attack killing more than 1,1100 Israelis, kidnapping 250 more. I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities. And then he goes here. In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war. A death toll that now far exceeds 67,000. First of all, that is a blatant patent lie. The lie comes from the Gaza Ministry of Health, which has lied about everything. Remember, the people of Gaza elected Hamas knowing full well what Hamas does. Hamas uses schools and hospitals and mosques as bases of operations knowing that targeting their military apparatus means the lives of people who are in fact innocent, although are you innocent if you're covering for Hamas and its terrorist activities? You could make the argument.

And he said that our government has been complicit through it all, meaning the United States government. The occupation and apartheid that must end the last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best, the relentless pursuit of our higher ideals, and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights. I'm curious how Zohran Mamdani would reconcile his Islamic faith. with the LGBTQ movement. And about that apartheid. He is right. The last two years have shown the worst of humanity. Hamas has killed women and children. They've blown up families in their bomb shelters. You remember the stories. You remember what happened. Rape and murdered babies or women at a music festival. They strangled babies to death. They held hostages and starved them to death. And the only place where there is apartheid is where Islamists hold control, a site that is holy to Jews, Christians, and Muslims, but only Muslims are allowed to go. On to Temple Mount. No one else dare go there. Yeah, apartheid ought to end. End it right there. But I don't think that's what he's talking about. This is what's coming for New York. I am of the mind that this is what New York deserves.

But mark the words of not me of our friend Justin Haskins. The election of Zohran Mamdani will send a message to the socialist and Islamist terrorists of the world that America is collapsing one city at a time. 47 minutes after the hour. When we come back, no way, Jose. Started counting shows at the beginning because we weren't sure how long he'd last. Now we're just proving to everyone that we can count. This is the morning show with Preston Scott. Time to tee up, Jose Can You See, with another edition of No way, Jose. Oh, Buenos Dias, everybody. Good morning. Glad to be here with you. So I picked these stories because I had a really, or I've been having a really holy spirit-filled week. Okay. So what do you think leads to that? I mean, what causes that? What is it that not so much leads to it, but what is it that's going on that? it's something's just different being in my purpose okay yeah i found that you know doing that has really just i mean i I could go on for like three days telling you what happened this past week. Okay. But we don't have enough time for that. But I would love to. But yeah, I'm probably going to make some enemies with this one. Tell me. Sorry, FSU. But the University of Pittsburgh, who we're going to be playing this weekend. Pit Panthers. Yep. The football players turned their athletic spotlight into a spiritual beacon hosting the Pit for Jesus event on campus. Okay. Nearly 600 attendees. heard the gospel, which beautiful. With tight end, Jake Overman emphasizing, we do not want this platform to build up our name. We want to build up the name of Jesus. And, you know, well done, young man. You know, this started at Ohio State last year. I remember that. Yes, I remember that. And then the University of Tennessee has got a big revival going through its football program and on campus. And now Pitt Panthers? Pitt Panthers, yeah. Come on. And I'm hoping there's some Seminoles out there listening. Come on. Well, I know Jim Jordan Travis was a big time, you know, if you looked at the Jim Jordan Travis merchandise and I bought one of his hats. It was all about Jesus. Yeah, so, you know, fellas, come on. Yeah, okay. Pick up the torch. So, so revival at Pitt. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No way, Jose. Absolutely. The event led to 65 commitments to Christ. Okay. 80 baptisms. Nice. And 45 football players publicly declaring their faith. Beautiful. Beautiful.

Yep. Pastor John Howard, or excuse me, Jason Howard highlighted the hunger for deeper meaning among the students. And I love this quote here. He says there's a hole inside everyone that only God can fill. Now that's true. I've been learning that a lot recently. Okay. What else you got? So we also have some, in the Holy Land soil, some archaeologists in Israel, they uncovered about A 1,600-year-old horde of bronze coins in a town called Huck, I believe I'm saying that right? Okay. Just three miles from Copernum, which is cool. Yeah. It's just really neat. So the significance of the coins is what? So they came from one of the last revolts from the Jewish people called the Gallus Revolt, which was the final uprising under the Roman rule, in 351 and 352 AD. Oh, wow, because that's then after the destruction of Jerusalem, which happened in 70 AD. Yes, that's pretty wild, and then being so close to Copernum. Yeah. Pretty awesome. There's a theme to your stories here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, very... Kind of biblical little Jesus action here. I had one more, but it's a little spicy. Probably good we didn't get to it. Well, I mean, you got 30 seconds. Yeah, I think we'll fly the plane now before we crash. I'm flying it right now, buddy. I got it. When we come back, Dr. Bob McClure will join us from the James Madison Institute. They did some polling in the Sunshine State, rising cost of living, accessing housing, making it affordable, sound familiar. Plus, vaccine mandates, some interesting reaction to the vaccine mandates being removed here in the Sunshine State. So we got a lot to talk about with Dr. Bob McClure next on the morning show with Preston Scott.

It is Wednesday, October 8th on the morning show with Preston Scotties, Joseon, and Preston's show 54-68. And thrilled to have back with us, Dr. Bob McClure. He presides as president of the James Madison Institute. Hello, Dr. McClure. How are you? I'm doing fantastic. How are you, my friend? I am doing well. I am overwhelmed with the data that James Madison released in this polling of Florida voters. I'm curious, when you see something as wide and as broad and as deep as this... You, a data nerd and a guy who drills deep and into the details, what stood out to you is the most compelling story out of all of this polling? You know, there were a couple of things, Preston. One is that we live, as you and I've talked on and off air many times, in the greatest state in the country, the freest state in the country. It has so much going for it, but yet 75% of the people in this state are worried about the cost of living. They're worried about housing. They're worried about groceries. They're worried about property taxes, insurance, and those kinds of things. And so I think despite the place that we live, this is called the Sunshine State, there's some worry, not some, there's a lot of worry. about making ends meet. I think the second thing that's really interesting is the governor's poll, which we can talk about more. If people don't know that Byron Donalds's has been endorsed by Donald Trump, he's basically running even with Casey Ron DeSantis, not saying she's going to run. I have no knowledge one way or the other. But once they know that Byron, and this is not reflected in the poll, but once they know that Byron has been endorsed by Donald Trump, he's typically up 20 to 25 points. So the Donald campaign pain needs to do a better job of letting people know because when you go into the booth, Preston, it's not going to say next to his name endorsed by Donald Trump. Those are the two things that stuck out to me. Let's circle back to the economic part of this, and let's start with the housing. What is crystallizing on the issue of affordable housing? Well, I think the issue for, now you and I've also talked about this. There's a huge difference between building affordable housing.

1:11:46

in building housing that's affordable. Typically, bureaucrats and elected officials, when they say affordable housing, they're telling the builder to build cheap housing that they can't make money on and will, they can just essentially kind of give away. What we argue at JMI and what the data shows is that you need to build housing that is affordable. And what that means is... Typically, it is the local government, and boy, we've seen it here in Tallahassee and Leon County, it is the local government that drives up the cost of housing, wait times, permitting, pay go, you know, all of the different things that the permitting fees, all of the things that go into the cost of building a home, getting approval from some bureaucrat. Those are the things that drive up the cost of a house. It's not. that builders are mean and they're trying to price gouts people. They will build houses that people want to buy, but government officials and bureaucrats too often get in the way. Is it important kind of taking a page from those on the left that I think are exceptionally good at playing the long game and using semantics with ambiguity riddled through it to keep people sort of confused? You know, you just hit on it. affordable housing. Okay, let's define that. Does there need to be an effort? Is there an effort needed by those on the right side of the aisle, those that believe in limited government and so forth to define what affordable housing is, housing that is affordable? Oh, absolutely. The left has co-opted the English language for years, and we know that, whether it's things like the Affordable Care Act, which is neither affordable or does it care for patients, the Inflation Reduction Act, it does not reduce inflation. The term progressive, I don't like to use the term progressive because that implies that they are progressing forward. Progressives... as we know them in this country actually are taking us back, their status. They want us to rely on government. That's not progress. That's not human progress. I call them the left. And so, yes, they have co-opted the language, and we on the right have to do a much better job of, and I think Donald Trump is a great example of speaking in terms of the average American who doesn't care about politics can understand. What are you going to do for me? How is it going to affect my life? And Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, look at the governor with this whole property tax debate. When we first started this, you know, what did he start? 18 months ago, everybody kind of thought, oh, that's a nice idea. That's never going to happen. Well, it's something going to happen. I can tell you that. And the governor has done a great job of making it simple for people in their everyday lives. And those are the... Those are the two gentlemen who are really doing it the best. Dr. Bob McClure with us from the James Madison Institute. More to discuss here on the morning show with Preston Scott. Being told what to believe by the liberal media, get a refreshing dose of truth. It's the morning show with Preston Scott on News Radio 100.7, WFLA.

You know, to buttress the point that Dr. McClure was making, you may remember, we started using the term illiberal about a decade ago because classic liberalism, you know, you hear about a liberal arts college and a degree and all of that. I mean, there's some commonality. We can talk to people that are classic liberals because they believe in liberty. But that's changed today. Dr. McClure, let's take a little step further into this. economic tax issue here in the state of Florida. James Madison Institute, you were looking at what policy might look like. Have you gotten any closer to what the proper steps might be for moving towards elimination of property tax? Well, I think it's going to depend upon kind of where the governor and the legislature want to go. So there are several different ways one can go about this. And it doesn't have to be in either or it can be a both-and. So, you know, I heard the governor, I think it was yesterday, say that if they eliminated property taxes, particularly, you know, rural counties rely on these local property taxes. taxes tremendously that he felt like the state with its revenue could cover some of that, could cover a lot of that. One of the things you can do is rollback spending to pre-COVID levels. You know, in places like Palm Beach County, I was in Orlando at a press conference with the CFO talking about this very issue in Seminole County. You know, in many of these counties, you're talking about spending has gone up 50 percent, Preston. in five years since COVID. These people at the local level are surfing the wave of property values going up, property taxes going up, and then they say, hey, we never increased your property taxes. Well, they didn't increase the millage rate, but your property taxes went up. And we see that here locally as well. So there are a lot of ways to go about that. One more thing, and I'll... throw it back to you. You can put a levy cap on local spending. Roll it back to say 2019 spending levels. Let's just take Leon County. Roll it back to 2019 spending levels. Cap it and then index it to population growth and inflation. You're not telling them how they can spend their money. You're not telling them where they can spend their money, but you are saying roll it back. This is how much you have to spend. Go forth and do good things. How many of the counties that are really overspending compared to 2019 are governed by Democrats. Hey, this is Ryan Sechrest here, and I have discovered a fun new escape from the daily grind. I don't know the answer to that, but I think it's really important, and the CFO made this point yesterday, that this is not a Democrat-Republican issue. For example, we were in Seminole County yesterday, which is wholly owned by the Republicans at the local level. Right. And yet their spending has gone through the roof about 50% since 2019. Shameful. And I think that's what that? That's shameful. It is shameful. It is. But that's what we're seeing at the local level. And so it's not, and this is what's refreshing. This is not Democrats or Republicans. This is about cutting spending and returning those dollars to the taxpayer in the form of real dollars because the cost of living. in Leon County, in North Florida, in Seminole County, in Broward County, has gotten out of control in large part because of local government spending. It's not the state. The state per capita spends is one of the lowest in the entire country. Right. It is at the local level where we are seeing, because of this exponential growth here in the state of Florida, where we are seeing this abuse take place. Dr. Bob McClure with us for one more segment talking about some polling done by JMI. And of course you can find it at their website. Yeah, if you're the CFO, you lead with the Republican counties and cities. Lead with them. Use them as the example and then just let it fill in there. That just dulls the criticism of it being a left or right attack. Back with Dr. McClure next on the morning show.

1:20:10

On your phone with the Iheart radio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos. Hey, so here we go. An Iheart's radio station. Back with Dr. Bob McClure, the James Madison Institute, talking about some recent polling. And among the topics, the 2026 gubernatorial race. And we touched on it ever so briefly, Dr. McClure. I am of the opinion that Jay Collins was picked as Lieutenant Governor, because Casey is not going to run. I don't think Ron DeSantis puts him in that office, and he has been very, very visible, his people booking him on my show all the time. Kind of your thoughts on the long race here that's ahead. Well, I think that, you know, if you're reading kind of the white smoke or black smoke from the Vatican, it certainly appears that Jay Collins is going to run. Good man, great guy, great legislator. You've got Paul Renner in there, who is also fantastic, was probably a historic House speaker if there ever was one in terms of getting good conservative policy through. You've got Byron Donalds's. who is excellent, would make a great governor, who has the Trump endorsement, has, you know, tens of millions of dollars in the bank and would appear, appear to be the odds on favor. We have a long way to go, obviously. And then in the Democratic side, I'm not sure who inspires you. David Jolly, kind of the Charlie Chris of the 2020s. He's been a Republican. He's been a Democrat. Really? I don't think so. Jason Pizzo, Mark. Well, he's not a Democrat anymore. No, he rejected the Democratic Party because they had gone so far left. Now he's running as an independent, so there's not the infrastructure. Maybe the fundraising component is much more challenging. So, you know, it's all in the Republic. And then you add in Preston that there is now a 1.3 million registration voter edge for the Republicans. Think about that. million more people identify as Republicans in this state than they do as Democrats. That makes whoever comes out of this primary, and you've got to believe it, Byron, with the poll position, it's got to be the awesome favorite to be the next governor.

1:22:47

The problem that Congressman Donald's has is that at this point in time, his ground game in the state is very lacking. I don't know if the people advising him aren't just recognizing how poor it is, but they're struggling with the ground game in Florida, and they're struggling getting him local exposure in places like this program. And I'm just curious if that's, if having Trump's endorsement is what they're banking on because I think I like you, like him very much, and I think he'd be a terrific governor along with a couple of other people. But if he doesn't do a better job of connecting, you know, he's going to struggle. Well, that was what was interesting about the polling. So we did a polling back in the winter. where we said, you know, do you know that Byron is endorsed by Trump because it had just come out? No, I didn't. If I did, it increases, he's up by 20 points. But this most recent poll was just like it would appear in the ballot box, on the ballot box. And it's who would you vote for? Straight up. Positive negative. You know, this is not, this is public. We caught some flack from the Donald's campaign because we didn't include it the Trump endorsement on this most recent polling. But it's not going to be in the polling booth when you go in to vote. Exactly. It's incumbent upon them to make sure everybody knows that he's been endorsed by Trump. So when you just show it as you show it, as it's going to be on the ballot. It was pretty even. So that tells me there's work to do. Now, I have no inside knowledge. I don't even pretend to. Don't want to know. Are they holding their fire until January? They have a lot of money in the bank. I don't know. That's not. That is their, they've got a lot of smart people running their show. So maybe that's just holding their fire until January. And then they're going to push the ground game, push the other. I don't have an answer for you on that. But it is an interesting thought. that most Republicans, most Floridians, have no idea he's been endorsed by the president. Last question. What are your expectations, and we can talk more about this next month, but what are your expectations in short for the final session with Governor Ron DeSantis at the helm? I believe the governor's going to get something very significant on the ballot in terms of property taxes. And I think it's going to be a really, really important issue for Floridians. Can you imagine if you eliminated property taxes or you reduce them 75, 80 percent, what that would mean for Florida's economy and putting money back in people's pockets? Huge. I'll say this about the governor. He has run through the tape, man. He is not coasting in these last two years. He is driving and pushing. You know, you go back to the weed amendment, to the abortion amendment. He put all the chips on the table. He won there. And so he is pushing, I think the second component, Preston, is that the trial bar is going to continue to try to claw back what they lost when we put in those reforms, tour reforms, primarily focused on insurance two years ago. And I think we're going to have to play a little bit of offense on the property tax issue.

1:26:16

a lot of offense, and some defense to keep in place the reforms on property insurance that are working. Good stuff, as always, Dr. McClure. Thanks very much. We'll talk again next month. You bet. 1:27:40

A very good friend who is very politically astute in the Sunshine State. Sent a note reminding me if you ask pundits in the spring of 2018, who is going to be our next governor? Most would have been sure it was Adam Putnam. His to lose was the most common expression. Most would have given Ron DeSantis little to no odds of winning. Byron Donalds's needs to remember that. That's true. You know, I... I can only offer thoughts based on my own interactions with his campaign staff. And to give you an example, they reached out to have Byron on the program half a year ago. I replied immediately, absolutely loved to have him. I've had Eric on a couple of times over the years. Would love to have Byron on. Here are the dates. And they were dates for the next week. I wouldn't get a response for seven to 10 days. Those dates then become dead. They're already filled. We already have guests. We already have a show booked. So I give another set of dates. Another week to two weeks goes by before I hear anything back. They're not responsive. And maybe they'll get better. I certainly would love to have any of the candidates, Democrat or Republican, independent, that are credible. The list of people, you ought to see the list of candidates that have officially filed to run for governor. It's silly. Now, look, I get it. You have every right to run, and that's fine. But there's got to be a degree of practicality to a decision like that. I mean, you can only ask family and friends for money if you think you're going to win, don't you? Can't you? And that's the thing. I've had this say to people so many times over the years, don't do it. No, I've been asked, what do you think of my odds of? And I would go, I wouldn't do it. You're going to stand in front of family and friends. They're going to feel guilty. They're going to give you money. And you don't have a chance of winning. You don't have any organizational structure. There's no social media following. There's nothing. There's no wind at your sales. Well, I just feel God telling me to run. Well, brother, then you do what God's telling you to do. Or sister, you do it. But I'm just telling you, just remember your families and friends. Your family and friends. I just. You look at the list of people running Democrat, Republican, and Independent, and it's like, oh, my goodness. We reset the big stories in the press box throughout the first two hours of the show. That just interrupted us, my little rant on the governor campaign.

1:30:47

Hopefully we'll hear from candidates. And again, I welcome Democrats running for governor to come on the program. And as I told Gwen Graham years ago when she was running for Congress, if you can't take questions from a little fuzzball like me, how am I supposed to believe you're going to stand up to anything in Congress? And I was proven right. She would not come on the program and take questions publicly. She has no interest in having to have a good, robust discussion on issues. She didn't then. She wouldn't now. I don't know what her plans are moving forward. But that's the thing. They don't generally want to have any pushback. Generally. 40 minutes past the hour. Let's talk about Memphis when we come back. Show with Preston Scott. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. On News Radio 100.7, WFLA.

1:32:14

Memphis. It's going to be interesting to see if the president ends up with the authority to send the National Guard in areas of this country where, and I think this is key, where the ability for the federal government to do its job is hindered by local elected officials. Federalism, we're all for it, right? But if your local government is not looking out for your welfare and your protection, you know, what do you do? I found this piece in the Epic Times. Memphis residents welcome the arrival of federal agencies the headline. And I wanted to get to some of the quotes here. Now, they announced yesterday that authorities have arrested more than 300 and seized 80 illegal firearms in the first week. Of the hundreds of individuals epic times spoke with between October 2nd and 6th, the vast majority in favor of Trump's order to help mitigate crime. One local woman who works two jobs at a restaurant on the iconic Beale Street and as a home health care provider. It's really good to have the National Guard coming here, Daphne Carpenter, 37. Crime is harming the community, she said, recounting multiple shootings that occurred in the area, including one where a newly graduated 18-year-old female was killed. She said Trump deserves credit for prioritizing communities across the country. He's the only president that ever, ever looked out for us like that, she said. Courtney Winners of Memphis. I definitely feel safer because I know they're doing fugitive ops. They're looking for people with open warrants. Memphis police are busy doing other things like solving murders, investigating robberies. So getting these agencies to come and actually go find these people, that's what they need. Business owner told Epic Times, the drug dealers that wouldn't leave my storefront alone are nowhere to be seen. He owns a convenience store. He decided to keep his name and business name anonymous. He said, my customers tell me it's the safest they've ever felt walking into my store. There was no fear of the law. They were stealing everything and making things very hard for me. Cassandra Neely, longtime Memphis teacher. It affects the life of my kids. It affects people. I just have not seen it on the scale that everybody is talking about that don't live in Memphis. They say that she says that the city is not as dangerous as it's been portrayed. If you want to find good, you're going to find good. If you want to find down and dirty, you'll get the down and dirty. And I guess to that I would say, well, then don't you want to get rid of the down and dirty? I mean, doesn't that make some degree of sense?

Others say situational awareness keeps them safe. And we preach that all the time. But do you really want a community that has to live in the world of situational awareness at all times? And look, I preach that, right? I try to live that. But do I really want... my children and my grandchildren to have to live where situational awareness must be at the top of everything they do? The answer is yes, but with the caveat, not because it's needed, but just because it's wise. In these communities, it's needed. There are places that... You just don't want to be. And do you really surrender those areas over to the criminal elements? Anyway, this is going to end up in, there's no way this avoids the Supreme Court. The President can't have the National Guard deployed indefinitely. There's a limit to it. So we'll see what happens long term. 46 minutes past the hour.

52 minutes past tomorrow busy day. First time ever the new Commissioner of Education for the state of Florida. Anastasios Kamustas. Kamutsas. Kamutsis. That's it. Kamutsas. Kamutsas. I got it. He will join us tomorrow along with Steve Stewart. Dr. David Hart's little road trip suggestion. I've mentioned that when I'm not feeling well, I drive my wife crazy because I just want to be left alone. I appreciate the nursing. I appreciate the love and the care that she offers. And on occasion, I might say, yeah, it'd be great to have a cold drink or a warm tea or something. But generally speaking, man, I'm just... Yeah. But you get to a point, and I can't remember the last time, for example, I can't remember the last time I missed a show because I was sick. Because oftentimes, even when I'm feeling a little under the weather, I still come in and do the show. Because it's just me. I'm just sitting here in the studio. Jose's over on the other side of the glass, literally on the other side in another room completely.

But I can imagine, I remember days when I was, you know, those occasions when I was like sick for a few days. Man, when you're over it, you just want to get out of the house, out of the bed, out of the house, breathe some fresh air, just go somewhere. Get, get away. One lady in Cooper County, Missouri, she had been home for a week and was just she was done. So she went out. And she made a stop at the Murphy Oil on Main Street in Boonville, bought a soda, and a triple cash crossword scratch-off ticket. And she won $100,000. See where? Boonville? Boonville, Missouri. I have long believed that the best places and times to buy lottery tickets are in these small little communities wherever you're traveling. Don't buy them in a big city. Buy them in those small little communities because you always see that stuff. Anyway, good for her. Brought to you by Baranow Heating and Air. It's the Morning Show 180 on WFLA.

Take two. Started today's program with God's word, just loving others as Jesus has loved us. And we talked about the importance of what that means to love as Jesus loved. Loving someone doesn't mean turning your head to sin. Loving someone isn't turning away from mistakes. It's encouraging them to do better. That's what true love is. Why would you want someone to keep doing something that puts them in peril or in a place of not being protected or blessed by God? I'm just saying. I mean, we started there. Some could argue we went straight downhill from that point forward. Because, I mean, you know, you start with God's word and you're dropping a hammer on everyone with, I mean, some good scripture. Just a wham! That scripture is so powerful. It's like, what do you say after that? Well, I tried for another two hours and 55 minutes. 50 minutes. Two hours and 50 minutes. Had Dr. Bob McClure with us. Talked about the plot to assassinate America's top Border Patrol official. That's where we are, huh? Virginia Attorney General candidate Democrat suggests killing cops with lower shootings. He also wished a former colleague somebody knows that if their kids died, that would be a good thing too. He's the type of guy the Democrats are rolling out there. But steak and shake putting the tallest, biggest American flags possible in places all over the country. So that's a good thing.
