And I don't know if you know the story. It was written by Horatio Spafford. Spafford's wife and their four daughters, youngest daughters, traveled to Europe. He was to follow later. And the ship that they were on in the late 1800s, crashed into another vessel and sank in 12 minutes. He lost all four daughters. His wife was spared when her unconscious body was propped up by a plank from the ship that had broken free and had kept her afloat. When she came to, she came to the realization that all of her daughters were gone. The baby was ripped out of her arms by the waters. And it was in the midst of his despair when he was traveling to be with his wife. The ship went to where they thought the crash had taken place. And Horatio Spafford. just observed this place and then went back to his cabin and wrote the words to it as well with my soul. God flooded him with peace and one of the verses that is said to have been part of that writing was Philippians 4-7 and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The peace that God offers in the midst of difficulty guards your heart and your mind from thinking things that only bring more pain and allowing those things to anchor in your heart. It's a piece that... only comes from God. I thought that song to start the day was a good way to start the day. Make it well. It's Friday. It's the morning show, May 29th. Let's get started here on Morning Show with Preston Scott. Features to keep you entertain. Guests and experts so you stay informed. It's The Morning Show with Preston Scott. Let's see what we got here. The 29th of May, huh? 1765, Patrick Henry attacks the Stamp Act in Virginia's House of Burgess saying, if this be treason, make the most of it. I love that, man. Wouldn't you love to have been like in the room when certain things were said that have... reverberated through time like what were they muttering when they signed the declaration of independence how dare you do just like you put your pants on the same way I do I mean I just I just and I mean incredible the founders Man, they're heroes. Every last one of them. They put everything on the line. Say enough. 1790, Rhode Island becomes the last of the 13 original states to ratify the Constitution. 1848, Wisconsin becomes the 30th state. JFK. 35th U.S. President born in Brooklyn, Massachusetts on this date in 1917. And my brother Bill was born on this day. My brother passed away from his service in Vietnam at the age of 49. Just before his 50th birthday. Let's see. It's National Paperclip Day. Thank God for that. National 529 Day. If you don't know what that is, that is a savings plan for college. If you have children, it's an investment where you can.
Put a 529 account. It grows tax-free. And if you withdraw the savings to pay for a qualified tuition or school expense, that's tax-free as well when you withdraw it. So there's some real advantages there. So you might look into that if that's you. And it is National Cook-A-Vinday. Maybe I should say it. Cook-A-Vin. A little more of a French kind of thing. It's chicken. wine, garlic sauce, wine and garlic sauce, usually made with some mushrooms. And it was considered a peasant dish, but it's actually kind of a haughty-taughty kind of dish. So if you're feeling like putting some chicken, a little wine, some lardons, otherwise known as salted pork. mushrooms garlic in a in a pan you braze it all together there you go today would be the day to have it don't have it any other day that's it just today we got a few things to kind of get get on your calendar next all right for all right for all practical purposes this is it In Bay County, you can still drop off your box fans through the weekend at Ace Hardware stores in Bay County. And they've got locations in Panama City Beach, Calloway, Lynn Haven as well. So any Ace Hardware store, buy a box fan and leave it there or just take one there. That's a brand new box fan. So huge difference maker, and my thanks to everybody participating in this, we'll mention it one more time or two more times before the end of the show. And then just a heads up, a week from Tuesday, Capital Conservatives hosting the four mayoral candidates, I'm shocked that Jeremy Matlow is willing to come to Capital Conservatives. I am. So they'll be given 10 minutes each to speak and then it's Q&A time. It ought to be good. So if you're interested in listening to them in that environment, Laurenne Osley, Michael Faust, Jeremy Matlow, Darrell Parks, this is a chance at the Capitol Conservatives meeting on June 9th.
And obviously, you know, the program's at 6 o'clock, I think it is. Dinner's at 5.15 or something like that. But if you're interested, there you go. We'll remind you of that as well coming up. Today on the program, big stories in the press box coming up in a few minutes. Got some, got an amazing answer to a question in a sit-down interview with the mayor of Seattle. You just, you have to hear it. Because honestly, for those of you, especially in Leon County, or wherever you might be electing a mayor across the country, boom, you need to be listening. You need to hear what a socialist sounds like. You need to hear what their ideals are. We're also going to take calls next hour. 12, 16, or 24. College football playoff. Some comments made by the president of the University of Georgia got my attention. Look, I love all of you that are SEC football fans, but the arrogance of the conference is just a little overwhelming. But let's talk college football playoff because it could, this could break up. college football as we know it and i would be like it i'm at the point where i don't care whatever you know if i don't if if if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't but what the cc is doing is they are now they are now talking it's my way or we're out and it's like well see you that's just my opinion you go ahead and do your own thing let me know how that works out for you But we'll talk about that and take some calls. 27 past the hour. I'm just... Wee. Who's there? On WFLA. Hey, 25 minutes past the hour. Sorry, 35 minutes past the hour. Let's take a peek at the big stories in the press box this morning. I almost, you've noticed, you have to have noticed, I hardly talk about the U.S. Iran thing. Not because it's unimportant, but because it's just a soap opera. And I loathe soap operas. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like President Trump is being played.
It doesn't happen often. So negotiators have reached an agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding to extend the ceasefire and begin negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. What is to negotiate? No, you can't have enriched uranium. Next. I mean, they're sitting there with their arms crossed. We will have nuclear. Every nation we should have. No, not you. No, you're bad people. Your leadership, bad, bad. Time out. You cannot have it. Even China says you can't have it, allegedly. I don't know. Do you know? I don't know. That's what we hear. That's what we've been told. But Iran's just stringing us along. 60 days to what? To keep bringing in attack drones from wherever. We'll see. I want to make a proposition. I will give up the U.S. Senate seat in Maine because Susan Collins... Like Lisa Murkowski and Thom Tillis in North Carolina, I believe it is. They are not, and Mitch McConnell's out. We're going to replace him. If we can gain one true conservative U.S. senators somewhere else in the country, I'll give him Maine. It's not worth keeping Maine. And right now, unbelievably, that vile man. Graham Platner is leading Susan Collins in polls. And I get it. Susan Collins is nothing to be excited about if you're a Republican, but she's better than him. But, I mean, I'd love to keep the seat and then gain another seat of a true conservative. But if the price is to gain a true conservative somewhere else and lose a rhino. Okay, I'm good with that. If this is what Maine wants, if Maine wants this vile little man to represent them, okay, that's fine. You can have him. It's just, it's a little staggering to my brain, considering how contemptible this guy is, that he's leading in the polls. He's gross. No, by any standard or measure, he's gross.
Anyway, that's my proposal. Let's gain a seat somewhere. And then you can have Maine. We don't have any congressional reps in Maine anyway. It's one of the many states in the Northeast that's rigged against Republicans. And it's literally rigged. I've shared the numbers with you. And then, well, why not? I had at least a half dozen people. Send me this article yesterday, including the lead research assistant of the morning show with Preston Scott. I'll just read the headline. Tick bite ER visits hit highest seasonal level in years as doctors warn of disease surge. And we're not just talking alpha gal. We're talking Lyme disease. Why not? Sign of the sign of Satan. Ticks are a sign of Satan. Ticks are a sign of Satan. I did get this from Lori. If you want to get ticks out of your yard, get chickens. They eat bugs. Even if you keep them in a coop, let them out free range couple hours a day, bait them back into the coop. We have a neighbor that had a major tick infestation within about six weeks of getting a half dozen chickens. They were gone. You can't have chickens in the city limits as long as you don't have roosters. Hey, you do you? I'm just saying, there's, there's, there you go.
Aren't you glad you listen? Morning show with Preston Scott. Go ahead. Make my day. On News Radio 100.7, WFLA. For you longtime FSU baseball fans, I'm going to throw your bone here. You ready? Okay, we got the regional starting today, weather permitting, we're going to get through it. I don't know. This thing could drag a little bit. We are off Monday, back Tuesday. Cat Kamik cannot join us on Tuesday, so I have arranged for a special guest. Longtime assistant to Mike Martin and then director of baseball operations for FSU baseball for years. Chip Baker, the colonel, will join us in studio. We're going to talk about college baseball, college athletics a little bit, and then we're going to just talk stories. Talk about his time working with 11 and his time doing television now for ESPN covering some of the FSU baseball games. He kind of splits with Chris Chavez. former FSU pitcher. But Chip is a good dude. I went to a game this year, and I went around the corner going to get a hot dog or something, and he was around in the corner, and we ran into each other. We hadn't seen each other in a while. And I love that guy. He is just a good dude. And obviously knows the game. I thought it'd be fun. So we're going to do a little memory lane and talk a little. You know, baseball and college baseball and the, you know, the guys that have gone through FSU over the years that have just... Hey, everybody. Lady Luck here. And we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Now, all summer long, I'm going to be celebrating by playing on SpinQuest.com, which is an American-owned social casino. Drews and Buster Posies and, you know, I mean, just some really good baseball players. And just his kind of, I don't know if I could get him to come up with his starting nine on an all-FSU team. But I might get him to do it. He's going to come for the hour. It's going to be a lot of fun. Imagine this. In Minnesota, two more Minnesotans. Doc Holliday writing for Not the Bee says Somali pirates were arrested and charged by the Department of Justice for stealing $21 million.
You're out there living paycheck to paycheck. You're scraping by inflation, taxes, gas prices. These two Somali women get dropped in the country, naturalized, and steal 21 million of your tax dollars. Of course, this is the thing that, you know, Nick Shirley claimed, but doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. This is from DHS. Shamso Ahmed Hassan and Hanan Marcel Yusuf. Arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, eight counts of health care fraud, two counts of money laundering. This is a wonderful opportunity. to see if we can denaturalize and deport people. If they're naturalized citizens, let's denaturalize them and support them. They were taking money from this country and sending it back to Somalia. De-naturalize. It's time. It's time to say no more. And it's time to send a message to Ilhan Omar. Bye. Bye-bye. Pack your bags. You can self-deport. And unless you think I'm being mean, she publicly stated she's a Somalian first and her allegiance is Somalia. It's recorded. It's there. It's said. It's done. And I have the oath of allegiance right here. that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a citizen or subject of. She has violated that oath with that statement alone. She should be gone. She should be kicked out of this country. And I have no idea why Congress will not just do the simple, do the simple, straightforward thing. Now, lest you think Somalis are just in Minnesota and maybe Ohio and perhaps Michigan or Wisconsin, you keep listening. I got some fun for you to hear next on the morning show with Preston Scott.
Still serving as the mayor of Realville and dispensing information at the speed of sound. It's the morning show with Preston Scott. Amy Curtis with Town Hall writes that we've learned in recent months that there are significant amounts of fraud in our welfare programs. Social Security to Medicare to Medicaid, state level programs focusing on autism, home health, feeding kids, daycare. American taxpayers have been built out of billions of dollars. While the Trump administration is trying to combat fraud, wasteful spending, Democrats are defending it. Why? Because perpetrators of that fraud are often immigrants. So targeting the fraud, arresting the fraudsters, jailing them after a conviction is somehow racist. At least that's what Seattle socialist Mayor Katie Wilson believes. She doesn't care about fraud because the people stealing our tax dollars are immigrants. Listen to this answer and this exchange as she sits down to do an interview with KOMO News in Seattle, where the news guy asks, What have you done in those regards? Yeah, so we're working on that. So we have conversations going on with the departments. And yeah, it's just, I mean, I don't think it needs to be explained why it's problematic to have random people showing up to daycares. And yeah, I mean, I think the fear in the Somali community is real. The fear in immigrant communities are real, so we're taking that very seriously. Along those lines, have you asked anyone to follow up on the fraud claims, either to the Department of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs or SPD? No. So there's, as far as you're concerned right now, there's no reason to suggest there's any sort of fraud. I don't, this whole issue is not really about fraud, right? It's about dividing and conquering. It's about making an immigrant community a target, right? There's no reason to assume based on the identity of a daycare operator that their small business is doing anything wrong. I want to just have some fun with this. Let's listen some more. What have you done in those regards? So we're working on that. So we have conversations going on with the departments. And yeah, it's just, I mean, I don't think it needs to be explained why it's problematic to have random people showing up to daycares. Let's just stop right there. How about this? There are no children in those daycares. Maybe that's a good reason to have people showing up.
There are no kids there. I don't think it needs to be explained why it's problematic. I mean, the fear in the Somali community is real. If you're not doing anything illegal, there should be no fear at all. And when you realize there are no children at the daycares, the argument just dissolves. When did Democrats start objecting to people showing up at someone's place of business? They do it all the time. Crap, they show up at private residences. They protest too. Daycare operators have a responsibility to prove they are legitimate. And if they are, that would be a major victory for her, wouldn't it? I mean, come on. Here are books. Wouldn't that be a massive win for Katie Wilson? This is just comical. And friends, Tallahasseans. You are one election away of electing somebody just like her. Just like her. Just as accusatory. Just as foolish. Learn, my friends. Learn.

We're getting to that slow season where there's nothing going on in the world of college athletics. And then we get to transition back into the college football season. Now, I mentioned to you that conversations took place this week. between the SEC Commissioner, the presidents of all the universities in the Southeastern Conference, athletic directors, they were talking about the potential options if they don't get their way. Currently, the college football season ends with a 12-team playoff. I find it insulting.
Because the 12 teams are relegated to playing in bowl games where, for example, all of the teams in the first round, the eight teams, you've got four seeds that go straight to the bowl games, the quarterfinals, and those other eight teams, they play at four home stadiums. Why did teams that are seated higher than the four best teams, according to the playoff selection committee, why do they get a home game? It's just silly. It needs to be 16 teams, just like they've done in Division 3 for years. And the first game should be played at the home field of the top eight seats, seeds 1 through 8. Everyone should be playing the same number of games, period, and that's the way it should work. The Big 10, the Big 12, the ACC, and Notre Dame are all wanting 24-team playoff. That's absurd. It just is. It's foolish. It's unnecessary. It is, it's, I mean, if you're going to do that, go to 32. So you have a field that can then be fair. You don't have seeded buys. None of that. Play it on the field. It's not the NFL, it's college football. We play it off on the field. The SEC president from Georgia, Jerry Moorhead. said that if they had to break off and do their own thing because of NIL and all of that, I think it would be fantastic. I can't imagine the ratings if that happened. George Alabama SEC Championship last year had ratings through the roof. Imagine if that had been for a national championship. Dude, if you think for one second that...
Breaking off and being by yourself and an all-SEC title game is going to be a fictional national title, you're deluded. Now, maybe he's arguing, imagine if it were Georgia, Alabama after a 2014 playoff, which whatever. They want 16 teams. The SEC is right about that. I'll tell you why the other schools want 24 because they want their schools to get more of the money. So I want to know what you think. 850-205 WFLA. Here's my question. It's not about ACC, SEC, SEC, Big Ten, none of that. You know, forget the fact that the Big Ten has been winning more titles of late. The SEC is a dominant conference. Absolutely 100% good for them. But the Big Ten's been winning more titles of late. My question for you is this.
College football playoff, the existing 12-team format, 16, which is what I favor, or 24. Or something else. I mean, SEC goes off and does its own thing. And then what? Everyone else plays for their own national title. You see what happens there. Eventually everyone says, well, those two winners need to play. And we're right back where we are now. So what do you think? If you're a college football fan, do you want 12 teams, 16 teams or 24? I think 16 is the perfect number. Let the chips fall where they may. 850-205 WFLA. I'd love to hear from you. I know there are college football fans listening. I know it. So what's your pick? 12, 16, or 24? 850-205 WFLA will get to your calls next. Radio 100.7, WFLA. I had a feeling this would happen when I didn't end the last hour by talking about this and giving you time to think about it through the news break. I just, I had a feeling. I botched this up. I really would like to hear from you if I don't get any calls in the next couple minutes, then I'm going to move on. But I think that that, look, there's so much money at stake here. The NIL thing, just hold them to contracts. They sign contracts. If they transfer, there's a buyout. The other school, whoever else has to pay the buyout. It's just that simple. I mean, it's a contract. But the playoff, these other conferences want 24 because they know that the SEC is going to get a lot of teams in. Now, should they? You can debate that. That's a good talking point. But the question becomes there is a right way to do it. I maintain Division III's had it right for a long time, even Division 2. 16 teams, play it on the field, put them all out there and let's go. Play some home games. I think 16 with the top eight seeds playing at home, and then you slot them into bowl games. It makes a lot of sense to me. Dennis, what do you think? I think we're fine at 12. 16 would be also, you know, I'd be fine with that. But now 24, at this point, I mean, why even bother playing a regular season? I mean, just do a playoff. Just see a whole playoff here and then be done with the regular season. They're taken away from these home games and regular season games for the playoffs. I completely agree. Tell me this, though. Why do you like 12? I can't stand the 14 by. You know, last year, I'll give you an example, Ohio State, and I'm only because I know it because my wife's a big Buckeye fan. Ohio State was going to, had to play a bowl game in Texas against the Texas school. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Yeah, I might say 14. The 14 team thing was fine. Yeah, I agree. I agree with you 100% on that one, too. Okay. Dennis thinks. They're getting, yeah. I appreciate it, brother. Thank you. 850-205 WFLA. Lance, what do you think about all this? Yeah, I think you're spot on. I think it's a 16-team tournament if you have to do the tournament. I mean, not to go in a different direction. I just wish we could online and go back to the BCS, but that's not happening. What did you like the most about that? What did you like the most about the BCS? Just that every, the bowl games meant something. It was actually schools that, you know, maybe the other student athletes, and you could feel good about winning a bowl game and having a great season, and we've lost that. It's really just about the one team, and it's become a professional league. And I'll be honest, I can't wait for Friday Night Light. I think I'm going to start just focus on high school football. Yeah. I do think the 16 team tournament, it is interesting. I do think that NCDA got it right in doing this format by having. Schools in December host games. That is neat. I do watch all those games, and then I kind of lose interest after that. Gotcha. Thanks very much, Lance. Appreciate the call. Good to hear from you, my friend. Let's go to Tim. Tim, what do you think? Well, I'm not emotional about any of it, but I'm thinking, number one, if you have a huge number of teams and playoffs. When is the season going to end? Are we going to go into January, February, like the NFL does now? That's first. But second, if you have 12 teams, then you have six, then you have three. So... How do you, which two play who to get to the third? So I would say either eight or 16 and probably 16 to make it really interesting. Tim, thank you. I'll explain how they've been doing 12 for a few years now. The way they do it is they seed and the top four teams get a buy in the first round. So you've got the next eight teams. You've got Seeds number 5, 6, 7, 8 playing at home against Seeds 9, 10, 11, 12. So they get a home game. And then they match up with those top four seeds. That's how they're making 12 work. But the problem, as I mentioned, is... you might get a home game and then you might get a bowl game in your own backyard. Whereas one of those top four seeds, they don't get a home game and they got to go travel in somebody else's backyard. It's patently just foolish. It's wrong. But they've been doing it for a while. I'm with you. Either pair it down to eight or move it up to 16 and be done with it. But you ask a great question. How are they going to fit the season in?
What happens to Florida State, Florida? Does that extra game between rivals get booted now? Because you can't fit it into the schedule? I don't know. But those are the talks that are happening. I welcome more calls 850-205 WFLA. I don't get any more calls. Cool. I've got a lot of things to talk about next. Okay, 22 minutes past the hour. This is just, this is an illustration of how sin can creep into people's lives in such a way that it manifests in pure evil. Now let me just start by saying on the front end, everybody in this story is safe. No one died. But there were two catastrophic injuries. Let me explain.
Marine Rousseau, 41-year-old mother of two, in a relationship with 55-year-old Mark Balabriga. He, a former police officer, they were on a trip in Portugal. And they decided to go on a little adventure out in the forest, as you would do. Just, right? A potential stepfather with a mom of a three-year-old and a five-year-old little boy. And so they blindfolded the little boys, and they took them out, and they said, we're going to play a game. And when the boys finished counting or whatever and took their blindfolds off, Their mother and their stepfather were gone. They abandoned the children. As this story unfolds, they were taken into custody.
125 miles away as they sat in a cafe having a nice lunch or dinner they had meant to leave those children and abandon them alone in a forest in a country they had never been to before The boys were spotted by a local baker, Artur Quintas, who spotted them screaming and crying, frantically stumbling around a main road. They were carrying backpacks stuffed with clothes, water, and snacks. The oldest brother said their mother and her boyfriend took them to a forest, covered their eyes as part of a game. When they removed their blindfolds, both adults had vanished. The biological father who lives in France has reported them missing on May 11th. He's working to get them back. They're in foster custody right now until arrangements can be made, I would guess. The cafe owner where these two were arrested, they were sitting. They didn't seem nervous. They were searched in handcuffed without any stress at all. When I saw them so at ease. In front of the authorities, I was astonished. It was as if they didn't have blood running through their veins. The boys were found alone 125 miles away. When I read this story, I just sat and cried. I said no one died in this story. Literally. There were traumatic injuries. The five-year-old, the three-year-old, they will remember. Over time, hopefully they'll heal. You don't need to know the names of the boys because I don't know the names of the boys, but those are a couple little fellows that could use your prayers.
that their father would provide a home of unconditional love and trust. But whatever was going on in the heart of their, I mean, the sin was so significant in the mother, it overruled her maternal instincts as a mom. Those are two children she gave birth to. And I guess because they were fathered by her ex-husband, she loathed them and hated their existence. It's a reminder of him, probably. News is next. What's the beef in just a little bit? Take your calls, your complaints, whatever's got you bugged. We'll be here for you. We're here. We are your friend, your buddy, your pal. But big stories in the press box. Where's Nancy Guthrie? Not just, I feel like we need to ask that question now and then, right? Imagine if it were your mom. And again, I just want to reiterate, I don't care about Savannah Guthrie's politics. They're horrible. I don't care. She's a daughter and her mom's gone. Likely gone. But imagine not knowing what happened. Your mind begins to... and already likely has gone to the worst places of what could have happened. How do we not know where this woman was? By all accounts, there was one dude. How does this happen?
This is not a... This is not a case where I think, well, we just need more Big Brother out there. We need more cameras. We need more... No. No. But this is a case where the limited technology in the area where she lived has played a role. in this person at this point in time getting away with it whatever you know whatever that person got away with was it a plan to kidnap and get ransom maybe well that didn't work so what this person got away with at this point is kidnapping and murdering somebody For what? I mean, this woman didn't have an enemy. Anyway. One big story in the press box. Another big story in the press box. Graham Platner of Maine is leading Susan Collins in polling. Now, the polls don't mean a whole lot, but I find it remarkable that the people of Maine are just overlooking how vile this man is. I just, I'm dumbfounded. If I'm Susan Collins, I am just devastated that after serving all these years, I'm being dethroned by such a loathsome contemptible human being. If they think that over me, what do they think of me? The deal with Iran, whatever. I'm just like yawn. It's hard for me because I don't feel like we're making progress. We're being delayed and delayed and delayed. And this 60 day thing is just like nails on a chalkboard to me. No, no, no, no, no, no. This is we're not getting a deal done. There's not going to be a deal with this type of regime. And that's what I just, I don't. I know Marco Rubio knows this. It's not going to be a deal with these people. We tried to arm the Iranians. It backfired. And tick bite ER visits are at the highest level in years. Get out of here. After all this talk this week on ticks, I had that sent to me by a half dozen listeners and the lead research assistant of the show.
Unlike a lot of talk show hosts, he's admitted to be wrong. That's when he thought he was wrong, but in fact, wasn't. It's the morning show with Preston Scott. Ah, this is why you listen to the program, friends, stories like this one. It's from the Washington Post, which means, of course, 100% legit. Reported by Commodore Vanderbilt with not the B. This from the Post, though, starting last year, two political appointees at the Treasury Department, U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach and his senior advisor, Mike Brown. repeatedly urged staff at the agency's Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare prototypes of a new note, a new currency. Ready? Are you ready? They were asking to have a mock-up design that shows President Donald Trump's face at the center of a $250 bill. between the signatures of the president and secretary of the treasury, Scott Bessent, which is typical. Now, of course, normally, if I'm not mistaken, it might even be by law. You can't put a living president on currency. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Now, all summer long, I'm going to be celebrating by playing on SpinQuest.com, which is an American-owned social casino. It obviously features over a thousand slot games and live blackjack, live craps, live bubble craps. Head on over to SpinQuest.com. Get yourself a $30 coin pack for just 10 bucks. SpenQuest is a free-to-play social casino. Avoid where prohibited. Visit SpenQuest.com for more details. But they're trying to get this done and there's no chance this is going to be available, legitimately available. But you mark my words, there will be counterfeits. But think about it. We're celebrating America's 250th birthday. The idea of a $250 bill. It's cute. It really is. It would be quite the investment. Grab a couple of those things and just lock them away. Never circulate them. But should this be signed into law?
The commemorative $250 bill, which would have to be legitimate currency to recognize the 250th anniversary of our nation. I've seen some mockups. And it's exactly what you would expect it to be. I mean. But leave it to President Trump to have people ask on his behalf to violate protocol and policy, even though Democrats would love nothing more than for him to be dead. If you ask Democrats right now, would they put his face on a $250 bill in return for, that'd be a no burner. Heck yeah, do it. But I personally think the idea of a $250 bill is great. I personally don't think Trump's name should be on it. I think our first president should be on it. Or maybe some kind of mural of the Founding Fathers, something that honors the founders of the founders of the nation. as opposed to a singular president. Just a thought. Just, just, just a thought. Some kind of artistic expression as the centerpiece of the bill. And maybe the Declaration of Independence on the back of it. Sort of a, you know, a reduced size of it, of course. Until then, as they write here in Not the Bee, we celebrate America's birthday the traditional way by using our credit cards to rack up debt until we can't pay it anymore and have to file for bankruptcy. So there you go. Come back, get you ready for what's the B Friday. Moments away. We'll start taking your calls, but not now. Validating your feelings or perhaps helping you come to terms with the fact that you have been wrong for so much of your life. It's the morning show with Preston Scott.
Well, somehow, even with me not opening up the phone lines, the phone lines got open. So we've got a caller on hold that violated the rules. Cheater? That's okay. What's the beef comes up in just a few minutes? So if you have something, you want to get off your chest. And I would imagine you do. I would. then you may gather your thoughts and call in if you want to ensure your spot onto the program because the first four callers are guaranteed. They're guaranteed. As long as you don't drop, you're guaranteed. But we have three segments of phone calls. I wanted to share this because we talked about the nominee in Maine. In Texas, the nominee for the U.S. Senate is a guy who attends St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, James Talarico. That church where he delivers his heresy in little sermonettes here and there, this church makes available to children in the church. books that are filled with sexually explicit content and transgender ideology. This is a remarkable story from the Daily Wire. The children have access to a library stocked with books that are banned in libraries across the country. They promote ideas that are rejected by most Christians, but you see St. Andrews is a Presbyterian church that is part of that Presbyterian denomination. I believe they call it PCUSA. These book contain descriptions of rape, but various kinds of rape. I'll leave it at that. Incest. And other things. If you go through the book offerings, which the Daily Wire did, found a book gender queer, which includes illustrations of things. In the book, All Boys Aren't Blue, which discusses things. This book is gay, has a chapter on the ins and outs of gay intimacy. The book Becoming Nicole tells the story of a gender-confused boy who identifies as a girl with the support of his family. In the book, The Courage to be Queer, the author claims God is Queer. These are books available to children as part of the church. that James Talarico is proudly a part of and speaks routinely at. And this is who Texas Democrats have put on the ballot as their nominee for the U.S. Senate. James Talarico voted in the state legislature against keeping men out of women's sports, claimed it was abusive and destructive.
The state of God is non-binary. He said Jesus was a radical feminist. He insisted that our trans community needs abortion care. He said the church offers books banned so children can find affirmation in the books they read. And those are the books that they offer those children. State of the country, friend, state of sin. State of our nation. 850-205 WFLA. Two lines are open. They can be yours. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Now, all summer long, I'm going to be celebrating by playing on SpinQuest.com, which is an American-owned social casino. SpenQuest is a free-to-play social casino. Avoid where prohibited. Visit SpenQuest.com for more details. It's time for what's to be Friday. He's Jose taking your calls. When we clear out of line, you can dial in, anticipate the end of the call. It's 850-205 WFLA. We have James, Richard, Jason, and George standing by. Ladies, you're welcome to call in as well. We usually have a lot of ladies calling into the program. Must be Jose's personality that brings them in. He's a magnet for the gals. We welcome you, though, to call and complain about anything your little heart desires. No profanity. Don't make it personal. And avoid monologuing. But we want to hear from you. We want you to get some therapy out of this. If you feel better, we feel better. If you get it out of your system, you're likely to have a better weekend. And so we welcome you to call in to the radio program. Occasionally... imitated but never duplicated. It's What's the Beef Friday here on the morning show with Preston. Scott. James, you're up. What's the beef? Hello, James. Hey, hey, man, you're talking to me. Jose, I'm sorry. Yeah, buddy, you're up. You're on the air. What's your beef? Okay, listen, my beef is this. I have a brother. This ain't going to be too personal, but stays with me. He's my older brother. Okay. And I got 20 cats, and I got three pit bulls. Oh, my. My only thing is, is eight.
I allowed them feed my cats only. My puppies are on the day. It's like, well, bottom line, I take care of my puppies because I don't want them being fake with nothing. Okay. And my brother is stumped. Well, I didn't do it on purpose, I don't think, but he could feed my cats and everything. Buccy of kittens showed up, and he stepped, he's 300 pounds, okay? Seek foot, 300 pounds, stepped on one, and two of them I need my line more. I need the deck and try to hide it from me. But I noticed one was missing from their breakfast. I've been two times a day. And... I had to find it as half dead. The teeth were broken out and it couldn't move. The back were broken. And I know what my brother did. So from there, he hid from me from Alabama. He ran to my mama's house, Alabama, as where he's at right now. and hiding from me because they don't want to confront me. Yeah. So what the problem was, he feed my kittens, and they run underneath him and wanting food, and he actually stepped on them 300 pounds. I said, man, you should be more, I would have wanted them to be more careful about all that. Yeah. Shuffle your feet, and so you don't step in the kittens, and don't run them over. Yep, all right. Well, now he's hiding from me, and my kitten's dead. I just buried them yesterday, okay? And I got a big problem with that. My heart broke up, man. Yeah, I understand. James, thank you for calling in. I hope at least getting that said helps you a little bit. Not much I can say to help assuage that pain. Um, maybe just that your brother is better living elsewhere. I don't know. Um, yeah, not everybody's an animal person, let alone a zoo person. And so maybe, maybe it's for the best. Richard, thanks for calling in. Morning, president. Morning. What's the beef? My beef is with you. Okay. It's been going on for one week. Tell me. You know how every now and then you get a song in your head or when you hear it, and it just sticks there? Yeah. That stupid slinky song from last week. Oh, my gosh, right? Let me tell you something. Please don't ever do that again. That, that dumb thing drove me up a wall. Everybody wants a slinky. Yeah, it's... You, son of a gun. Look, I have Slinky, but please don't ever need it again. Have a good way to break. Thank you, sir. We played a commercial jingle for the Slinky earlier in the week, and...
It is. It has tortured him. Jason, you're up next. Then George, 850-205 WFLA. It is What's the Beef Friday on the morning show with Preston Scott. I am fair. I am good. I'm a happy example. Glenn is on 9 to noon. I am stronger every day. On WFLA. It walks the stair without a care And shoots so high in the sky Bounce up and down Just like a clown Everyone knows it's slinky The best present yet To give or get But costs a little to buy The hit of the day When you're ready to play Everyone knows it's slinky It's linky It's linky For fun it's the best of the toys It's linky It's linky The favorite of girls and boys It's what's to be Friday here on the morning show with Preston Scott. Jason, you're up. What's the beef? Man, good morning. So I have two, and I'll make the first one really quick. Okay. I sure do miss that super. I sure do miss that super sure commercial. I haven't heard in a while, Preston. I don't know what you did to make him quit playing that, but that'd be my first one. How about that? And the second one is you. History has taught us you can't make peace with somebody who doesn't want peace. Correct. If you're the only one going in with good intentions and you're the only one trying to make peace, it is a sign of weakness on your side. That is how they see us. They see us as weak because we want peace. They're still firing on us. They tried to fire in our base in Iraq. Yep. They don't want peace. They just, they want us to take what they want to give us. That's all I have on that. Thank you very much, Jason. I appreciate the phone call. Don't disagree with you. It's What's the Beef Friday. George, you, sir, have the platform. What's the Beef? Press, and I don't know if I've ever been this confluded on What's the Beef Friday. First of all, with Frank, with the Kitty stories, I've never, I didn't know if that was a joke at first until I heard the passion in his voice. I just, I ain't got nothing after that. I ain't got nothing. Then you go do the slinky on me. You just ruin that guy's weekend. So this is, this is, this is crazy unique. I mean, I've never, ever. I've been listening to you since day one. The kitty story. I mean, holy cow, I was waiting for the violins. I was waiting for Jose to put the violins in there. But I want to know what a historical harms amendment is, Preston. You know exactly what it is. It's called reparations. And so now they're hiding it behind a different veil, a different door number three. Yep. And how long till some of the prosperous areas in this county and city start de-annexation? Because this happened across the country already.
This is the biggest bunch of fraud and biggest bunch of waste and money grab, and it'll pass if it gets on there. This community always falls through this garbage, Preston, and we are, the fuse is lit on this community, county, and city heading towards Portland. I hate to see it. I hate to see it. And they'll wonder why everybody leaves. Have a great week. Yeah, I was going to say, I can't see that you're feeling much better, but. Oh, well, the slinky got me. The slinky got me, bro. Well, the moral of the slinky is, don't ever tell me what to do. I'm just kidding. Thanks so very much. Let's go to Bob. Hi, Bob. You're up. What's the beef? Morning. My beef is similar to the previous caller. with the IRGC, the Revolutionary Guard. There's no need to negotiate with them. They have a 48-year history of evidence. It's a ploy for the request for a 60-day ceasefire. Liberate the Persians, eliminate or capture, the IRGC, all of them. and let the Persians deal with them after we have exercised some of our armament. And I hope Trump isn't just giving them rope. I hope he's not falling for any of their garbage. All I can tell you is it seems that we are because we continue to extend. Now, you can fairly ask, well, what's the alternative? We stepped in it, and I don't disagree with what we did on the front end of this. But, yeah, we're in it now. Ken, stand by. It's 16 minutes past the hour. More calls coming next. It's what's the beef Friday here on the morning show with Preston Scott.
on your phone with the iHeart radio app and on hundreds of devices like alexa google home xbox and sonos this is crazy and i hearts radio station all right we got room for one or two more callers 850205 wfLA but let's not dilly dally wonder who came up with that I wonder who came up with dilly-dally. Let's not waste any more time. Ken's been waiting. Good morning, Ken. What's the beef? Well, I'm dilly-dallying around right now, but I'm joking. Two beans real quick. I live on Panama City Beach. It seems like it's taken years to have Back to Beach Road and widen for a broad reason. I don't know. But when you put all that construction and all these jack wagons from other states who cannot drive, it'll blow your mind. It just blows your mind. I seen a car yesterday. He was at the turn. He did a U-turn in front of a minivan. Minivans doing 55 miles an hour. He does a U-turn right in front of me. Oh, no, no, no. Yes, yes, yes. I'm not surprised. The minivan somehow got around him and kept it's cool, but it wasn't cool. I thought that was really going to be a pile of right there. It sounds like one of those drivers from India. Well, he didn't have a passenger with him looking going, oh, what happened there, jokes? Yeah, U-turns are ignored and they're so wholly dangerous. It's unbelievable. Especially when somebody's coming out 55 miles an hour and you come from zero to nothing? Yeah, buddy. Right in front of them? Yep. Yep. Anyway, you have a good weekend, sir. Thank you. Appreciate you hanging in there with us, Ken. Appreciate the phone call. And thank you for laughing at my attempted humor. Jody is next. Hi, Jody. You're up. Hey, good morning. My beef is with the entire Florida legislators. To look at this year's budget and no raise for state employees, I'm really disappointed. We've got all these people moving to Florida. There's additional tax revenue. Our retirement is more solid than any other, but yet our pay is about 38 or 39th of all the other states, and it's ridiculous. So that's my beef. Yeah, I think that, you know, given how lean the staff is, it would seem that there's a way to make that a little bit more competitive with the private sector. That said, let me ask you this. Obviously, a state worker impacted by this, I get it. There are a bunch of you out there that are equally disappointed. Is there a point where... Even, you're a taxpayer too. So is there a point where a salary for a position needs to max out in the public sector? Well, we have that. It's called broadband. The position has a minimum starting salary and a maximum salary for that position. Okay. If you reach that maximum, you would have to promote or move to another position. However, very few people in the state ever reach the max of that broadband. Okay.
So, but I've been with the state 34 years. We went through a 10-year period there where we didn't get any raises. We've been very fortunate under Ron DeSantis. You know, he's taking care of us, extra days off during the holidays and that kind of thing. But Rick Scott go back to where, you know, he made us start putting 3% into our retirement where we were the most financially sound state there was. We were in no danger of our retirement falling short, but yet we still had to start contributing. At that point, when I was 20 years into my career, you change the game and the rules right in the middle. But we do it and we move on. But, yeah. Yeah, and that's something that's something that's not right. You don't change it for those that have been there. You can change it for new hires. and move forward, you know, for those that are employed new. So in concept, the idea of a salary maxing out at a certain dollar figure and then you acquire more skills or your experience avails you of another opportunities for promotion or what have you, you're good with that concept. Yeah, for the most part. I mean, you're flexible. You don't have to stay in any position. If you have the skills and the ability, you can certainly go to another agency. You can go to another position. But it's not always that easy. Now, I have not, because I don't have anybody else on hold, I'm taking advantage of you being here with me for a second more, Jody. Let me ask you this. Sure. It used to be that... Middle and upper management in the agencies was really extreme, like way too many chiefs and not enough Indians. And when that situation happens in any business or industry, then the people that are doing the actual work don't get paid as well. Look at the local school district as a great example of that. In your observation, are we still top heavy? Oh, absolutely. And we continue to create positions that, you know, are not necessarily funded in the budget, but they do some magic with the internal workings. And before you know it, you're bringing on 200,000 a year people that were never a part of the agency. So, yes, there's that. And I think it will always be that way. Thanks so much. I appreciate the conversation. And thanks for calling in, Jody. Yes, sir. Have a good day. All right. See, that's a show. That's not a segment. That's a show. Because I have very strong opinions about how the state should operate and how the public sector should be compensated. And I think that you reward a lien staff with better pay. But I also think you do the same thing with state upper management that you do with like the school district. Wait, you have how many APs and administrative staff? What? That's too many. And that money could be used down the chain. It's a good topic. Good topic. All right, we come back. Our best and worst of the week.

Welcome to the morning show with Preston Scott, guaranteed human, and covering what you're talking about, what you will be talking about, and most importantly what you should be talking about. All right. Time for our best and worst of the week. Jose, what do you got for me? Well, so the best for the week for me, and I'm pretty sure for you as well, is that my brother in Christ, my brother from another mother, is getting hitched this weekend, and I'm incredibly happy for him. I've been super stoked ever since he told me, so I can't wait for the time to come. And then the worst for the week is kind of in the same realm. I've lost so much weight within the last two weeks. that um i'm afraid i'm gonna look like i'm gonna be wearing a gigantic uh parachute yeah my wedding suit's not gonna fit okay okay yeah my uh my my son Jim Jordan is getting married this sunday and um the worst of the week is a tie the tie between The 90% chance of rain on Sunday for the outdoor wedding. I'm sorry, is my eye twitching? And it's a tie, though, with the fact that once again, we have a Scripps.
National Spelling Bee winner that is of South Asian descent. I did some research. The winner, congratulations. He ends his six-year competitive spelling career with a title. But the winner, Shrei Prarik, beat Ishan Gupta in a spelloff. They do a spell off now. They've done that since 2022. He spelled 32 words correctly in 90 seconds. And third place is Sarv Daravani, another. So the top three were all South Asian, Indian. And so that prompted me to do a little digging. And I asked Google, when was the last time a child of American descent won the script spelling bee? And then it said, are you specifically asking the last time an American child not of South Asian? Because this young man is American. He was born here. Cool. Fine. But there's something cultural that's happening here with Indian parents, Asian parents, and so forth.
Zala avant-garde won in 2021. First African-American to win the B. Okay, so 2021. So that was what? Five years ago. Then if you dig back, the last child who was not of South Asian descent that won was in 2019. Aaron Howard of Huntsville, Alabama. Then 2007 and 2006. Four. Five. Five in recent years since 2000, maybe. How is that the worst of the week? I'm just asking. Why aren't our kids able to spell better? Well, we know the answer, but I just thought I'd ask. The rhetorical question. 40 past the hour, good news, and really grab the handkerchiefs. The Kleenex. Get the tissues ready. Next.
Your Sensei of Sensibility. Communicator of common sense amplified and guaranteed human. It's the morning show with Preston Scott. Remember, this is the final day in theory, at least here in Leon County, not in theory, but in fact, to drop off your box fans at a First Commerce Credit Union Financial Center. Here in Leon County, buy your fans wherever you want. Drop them off at First Commerce Credit Union today because it ends Sunday, so today's the final day because they're closed on the weekends. Also today at the West Side Financial Center on Capital Circle Northwest. 12 to 2, they've got the Liz Nick's fundraiser. Get yourself a hot dog lunch and all the proceeds go to the Liz Nick's Animal Rescue fundraiser that's going on. So you can do two things at once. In Bay County, any Ace hardware store, buy them, drop them off, leave them right there. And then in Thomas County, they've got the Thomas County Food Bank going on. I got an email earlier. I'll talk more about that. They're doing a similar type thing in Quincy for seniors in Gadsden County. And so St. Paul's Episcopal Church is gathering. And you can go to the Bell and Bates hardware store there and purchase and leave them there, I guess, or just go to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. So it's spreading. I love it. I absolutely love it. That is not the good news story, though. It's good news, but that's not the story. This came out in advance on Memorial Day. Cheryl Ann posted on X. This is probably a long shot, but if anybody happens to be in D.C. this weekend and plans on visiting Arlington. I would love to see a fresh photo of my husband's grave in Section 60. Staff Sergeant Alan Shaw, Section 60, Grave 8451. First Calvary Division. Died February 9th, 2007. There's just something about knowing still people stop by, still say his name, still remember. He was killed in action at the age of 31 in 2007 in Iraq. Cheryl made the trip to Arlington from her home in Arkansas every year for the past 19 years except this one. She could not go.
She said there's a lot of guilt that comes with not being able to go, so I thought maybe somebody could swing by and take a picture and remember him. She was not prepared for what happened. The U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, stopped by. Outgoing Director of National Intelligence and... veteran Tulsi Gabbard and she posted with a photo. It was an honor to visit your husband's grave today on your behalf and to pay my respects. It was wonderful to see the beautiful flowers representing many others who did the same. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to the loved ones they left behind. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. And then tagged her. perhaps hundreds visited the gravesite. Tulsi Gabbard, thank you, not just for taking the time to visit Allen today, but for understanding the weight of that sacrifice in a way few people ever will. You answered the call to serve this country just like he did. You know what it means to put on the uniform, to stand, willing to give everything in defense of this nation, and that's what makes this gesture mean even more to our family. seeing you standing there at his grave honestly brought me to tears. Thank you for honoring Alan for saying his name and for reminding me that there are still people in this country who have not forgotten the cost of freedom. She then posted a follow-up. Last night I made a simple request on X asking anybody visiting Arlington to visit Alan's grave and to leave a photo for our family. What happened next caught me off guard. By this afternoon, dozens of Americans from all walks of life had made the walk to Section 60 to visit Staff Sergeant Alan Shaw. Veterans, families, complete strangers, people who'd never met Alan but chose to honor him anyway. For one day on social media, people put aside the constant noise and negativity and came together for something bigger than themselves. My notifications filled with photos, kind messages, prayers, and stories from people honoring not just Alan, but so many of our fallen heroes. I don't think people fully understand what moments like this mean to Gold Star families. The fear is never just losing them. It's losing them slowly over time as the world moves on and fewer people remember their name, but today showed me that Alan will never be forgotten. And that is good news.
Remember, we are off on Monday back on Tuesday. But we always leave you with a dad joke, so here you go. I found a book called How to Sol 50% of Your Problems. So I bought two. Time for some headlines. Courtesy of Yormite, our trusted source for satire. These are headlines courtesy of the Babylon B. The Mandalorian and Grogu is a fun enough flick, but it utterly fails to mention anything about freeing Palestine. Physicians at Walter Reed confirm Trump's midi-chlorian count is off the charts. Boas carefully arranges stalks of grain on the ground to spell out, hey girl. Everyone in Chicago shot over the weekend. Parents help graduates sound out the words on diploma.
