Our next news in 30 minutes. Breaking news anytime. Now more Dave Allen on News Radio 570 WSYR on 106.9 FM. Well, some breaking news this morning. The grandson of a former U.S. President has launched a bid for Congress. Former President John F. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s only grandson shared his intent to run for retiring Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler's seat on Instagram. My name is Jack Schlossberg, and I'm running for Congress to represent my home. New York's 12th congressional district, where I was born and raised, where I took the bus to school every single day. from one side of the district to the other. The 12th district includes Manhattan's Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and Midtown. Schlossberg, a 32-year-old Democrat, is the son of JFK's daughter, Caroline, and her husband, Edwin Schlossberg, and has a social media following of almost 2 million. His cousin is the current health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. In New York, Tanya J. Powers, Fox News. Switching gears, the record-breaking government shutdown is another step closer to ending. This was always about... showing their far-left radical base that they were standing up against Trump. That's all this was. And Chuck Schumer... cannot face more criticism or contempt. The Democrats are actually now complaining and whining and fighting each other over the fact that they didn't inflict enough pain. This supposed party of the working class, that's what they tell each other all the time, is now out there saying, gee, we really should make people suffer more. We've got to make life more affordable for everyday Americans who are suffering under crushing Republican policies. to welcome Mark Vargas back to the show. Mark is a GOP Media surrogate. He's a Newsmax contributor. He's also editor-in-chief of the Illinois Review, the largest conservative news publication in Illinois. Mark, good morning, sir. Well, is today the day? Today is the day. This evening, you know, the president will find the house-past bill and reopen the government. But what's remarkable is... The Democrats just circling around and eating their own, the eight that voted with Republicans to reopen the government. In Illinois, for example, Senator Dick Durbin has now become a pariah. And during this election season, primary election season, every Democratic candidate now is wanting to keep their distance. They no longer want an endorsement from him. And they're criticizing him and carnishing his legacy. all because he voted with Republicans to reopen the government and end the pain that the Democrat Party initially started, but to assist the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have been working for a month without pay. It really is remarkable in the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party. Safe to say, Chuck Schumer's days are numbered.

Chuck Schumer's days are numbered, and it looks like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is probably going to be primaring him, and in a head-to-head matchup, she wins that race. But his legacy is tarnished now. Why? Because his Democrats, eight Democrats sided with the Republicans, it's remarkable. You've got Gavin Newsom and J.B. Pritzker and so many other Democrats vying Pete Buttigieg, vying for the Democratic nomination for president, all criticizing. those eight Democrats that voted with Republicans. It really is remarkable that they ignore the fact that their own policies have hurt hundreds of thousands of Americans. It's no wonder why we have quotes, and I'm not going to read all of them for your listeners, but I have got dozens and dozens of quotes from Democrat legislators in their own words. praising the shutdown, talk about how this is going to hurt American families, how troops are going to go without pay, but we cannot give this president any leverage. This really is Trump derangement syndrome playing out on live television. How likely are we to go through this again in January? It's most likely we're going to go through this in January through. We're going, the Democrats are now, the message has been sent, but if you side with Republicans as a Democrat, you'll be primaried, you'll be harassed, you'll be attacked, your own party leaders back home will avoid you like the plague. And so we are, this is a band-aid. The real battle is going to happen in January where I believe the Democrats. are banking on another government shutdown. All right. Thank you, Mark. Good to have you back on the show. Mark Vargas here on Syracuse's morning news. Reaction from a listener using the talkback mic on the iHeart radio app. Why is Hakeem Jeffries blaming the Republicans on the failed Obamacare? If the Democrats actually were forced... in Congress to actually have that as their health care system, then maybe they would know how terrible it really was. I haven't had insurance since COVID. It's a hot topic. You want to weigh in to have to talk back, Mike, on the IHeard Radio app to comment anytime. It's 839. We'll check traffic and weather together on the 10s next.
