49 segmentsFrom the spacious KWTO studios, it's the Elijah Harshow, 93am 560, KWTO. Welcome back to KWTO, joining us again on the show, Garrett Bowles. One of the big things that happened this week, and I know we have had a lot of things that happened this week, whether it's Maduro, whether it's Trump announcing the restrictions on Black Rock, whether it's his offer to buy $200 billion in mortgages, like lots of things are happening. But one of the interesting things that happened was... Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the rest of the group coming out, be like, we're changing the nutritional guidelines. And I know, Garrett, you probably, your nutritional guidelines are like, I don't know, candy bars and beer. I don't know what you guys are, what yours are. That's not bad. I nailed it. I nailed it in my first guess. But it is interesting because I think the Make America Healthy again is, in my mind, probably the most, one of the most uniquely interesting parts of the Donald Trump agenda. Not that Donald Trump. I don't know. Maybe he's making himself healthy. I don't know if he is or not. But Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Oz and the whole crew are really engaged in this. You know, I'm obviously a big red light guy, a sauna guy. I'm doing all the things. I'm actually on day eight of no alcohol, no sugar, no carbs or no bread. Why? Just a straight cleanse. I did a three-day water-only fast. Just start the year off, right? I have this joke that my, I'm like, you know the mullet? It's like, business on top party in the back. Yeah. My days are a make America healthy again mullet. In the mornings, it's regiment. I lift weights and I sit in the sauna and I do my red light therapy and I make my egg whites and I take my vitamins. And then at night it's like, oh, glasses of wine and like let's all celebrate. That's my normal day. But I was like, hey, I'm going to create a year like that. The beginning of the year, we're going to get all cleansed out, get all the sugar out of the system, get my inflammation down, like, just clean everything up. And then, lo and behold, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. comes out. It was like, let's do a new nutrition guideline chart. And it's fascinating. And the funny thing is, the first question I had is, what's the government telling people what to eat. But the second thing is, that's a pretty good chart. Right, exactly. Look, everybody hates government control until the government starts doing something that you want. And then all of a sudden, it's really cool. Now, if Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Trump came out and said, we're banning this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this and this and this, and it's regular food items, like it's genuine food groups, not just dyes and chemicals that are actively killing us.
I think that would be a big deal. But this is just kind of a guideline chart, right? The new food pyramid, which makes sense. Look, science evolves. That's what happens. Used to, used to, we were going around going, oh, get your kids on cigarettes, folks. It's the greatest thing. And now we know. Nine out of ten doctors recommend Marlboro. It's crazy when you think we did a really good segment a couple years ago. What is something we do now that in 10 years will be like, I can't believe we did that. Like I, as a kid. I rode in the bed of my dad's truck all the time. On the highway, on 44 highway, my brother and I would sit in the back of his truck and drive from Springfield to Niagara, and we thought it was just normal as could be. And now, like, I'll barely put up, I put my kids in the back of my truck and drive him around and look at Christmas lights in my neighborhood. I want to leave the neighborhood with him. And so what's the thing now? Because, like, now we're like going to this chart, eat real food, a lot of meats, a lot of nutrient dense foods. And in five years, people can look at the old nutrition charts and be like, what in the freaking world were they doing with that old one? If you want a new answer to that question, I have one for you, too. Yes. Things that we do now that in 10, 15 years will look back on and think we're absolutely insane. You've never done this. I did this and you got me to stop. I think vaping is going to be one of those things where we look back on is like, why in the world were we walking around with sprinkling? Pink, sprinkly vapes with gold dust that blows out of them and kills your lungs. In some ways, I agree with you. In some ways, I think, so I think vaping is a good way to stop cigarettes. It can be. But the anti-health campaign against vaping has made it so, my kids think vaping is worse than cigarettes. My brother or my son will come home and he'll be like, oh yeah I found a vape cartridge in the bathroom like okay whatever and then five minutes later like yeah and then somebody said they had a gun at school and I'm like whoa whoa that's like a big deal is like oh they didn't have a gun and I'm like but the vape cartridge is what you led with like they think vaping is akin to like doing lines in in the bathroom of coat I mean they think it's like and I'm that's the one thing I have I like I've obviously never vaped never will don't give a rip but But I am kind of concerned that people think I can't stop. I can't quit voting or I can't try vaping because it's so dangerous. I'll just keep smoking. Yeah, but people have been quitting smoking for long, long, long before vapes were invented. Smoking is at record lows. I had the statistic the other day. Suicides are like every statistic right now, we're living in maybe the golden age of America. Like roadside fatalities, homicide, like everything's down. It's like really, really good. It's crazy. That's that that that's a Trump thing. It's got to be. I have no idea how. I think, well, I think, you know, I think the homicide's very easy. Yeah. We've deported about two and a half million illegal immigrants in one year. We also set the National Guard into L.A., D.C. So you had all these major cities where the National Guard rolls in, crime goes way down. You've deported a bunch of illegal immigrants. Crime goes way down. I don't think it's that crazy to say, oh, and we were also in kind of a, you know, over the past few years it's been going down now. It's the biggest.
one-year drop in history, but I think it's likely attributable to Trump policies. I think the roadside fatalities might be too. I mean, we see a lot of illegal immigrants who come in and immediately think they know how to drive on our roadways. Well, look at the semi-trucks, and that's a huge problem. Have you driven in, look, and look, it's a little bit of a cultural thing, but we drive very differently than they do, even in Puerto Rico. I've been to Puerto Rico. Stop signs and red lights are suggestions and please maybe if you feel like it. As is driving on one side of the road. It's like, I'm driving on whatever side is open. It is a different thing. You're at 100%. And as Trump said, they're not sending their best. We know that's true, obviously. And so that includes some bad drivers in there as well who aren't used to our roadways and our kind of, you know, if I get stuck behind one more semi. in the left lane of the highway, going 55 miles an hour. I've been driving a lot over the holidays and stuff. Next to a semi also going to another semi. Figure it out, guys. Yeah, I've mumbled some curse words in the past two or three. On this healthy nutritional conversation, I'm curious, and maybe I'm just like guesstimating here, but where do you think Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is on GLP ones, Zempeg, Wagovi, Manjurna, all that? You know, he doesn't, he doesn't seem like the type of guy to immediately just go, no. Right. You know what I mean? He's everything that he hates vaccines, certain food dies, certain vaccines, I should say things like that. Okay, hold on. So everybody tags him as an anti-vaxxer. Like when they redid the vaccine schedule, also this week, been a big week. It's been really good week, but this one's been a big one. They went from 18 to 11, which Denmark still has, it was 10, so they're kind of matching Denmark. The other seven, they didn't ban. They didn't even say we're defunding them or taking them off Medicaid funding. It's just like the flu vaccine, the COVID vaccine, Hep A, Hep B, Men and Josh. They're like, hey, you talk to your doctor. If you're doctor and you think you need it, get it. If not, but it's no longer the right. This idea that he's somehow anti-vaccin. He's kind of weird. I was having a conversation, and I was hoping that we could get into this whenever we started talking about nutrition because I had this conversation last night. I think that you and I text each other and be like, we should talk about this and here's some bullet points. Now, we're like, we're just kind of like start and wherever we go, we go. It's like a podcast. You said nutrition and I was like, I guess, and now we're talking about nutrition. Does that include honeycomb or? But. I was talking to somebody last night and they're like, I can't believe now. It's so much harder to get a flu vaccine because of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. And I was like, yeah. Wasn't it always weird that you could just go to a Walmart and get an injection? Wait, that's weird to me. It always has been. You can still do that. That's the thing. Walmart, CVS, they all give it out, schools give it out, doctors give it out. It's funded under Medicaid and under affordable character and everything else. All we've said is it's no longer on the recommended. If you want to get it, if you don't, don't, but it's still funded. There's literally no difference. And this idea that somehow, I mean, here's a deal. I actually think Robert F. Kennedy Jr. probably didn't do enough rain pulling. There's a lot of people that thought the HPV is something they should take off the recommended. That Gardasil and there's some health issues and there's all this. And he left that one on there. Like there's some people that thought he would go even further than he did.
And or say we're not going to like not only we're not going to recommend, we're going to defund. He didn't do any of that. It was like a very moderate move in my opinion. Yes, but everything is authoritarian according to the mainstream media. Recommendations. I heard people getting upset about the new food pyramid. Like who is the federal government to come in here and tell us what to eat? They are so used. Democrats and liberals are so used to hearing a recommendation from the federal government and going. Oh my gosh, we have to do this right now. We're all going to die. Oh, no, because we worship the government and we love them so much. So whenever Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or Trump or anybody gives a recommendation. They go, oh, this is government overreach. This is awful. This is terrible. We can't do this. You don't have to because under Republican governments and conservative law, you don't have to do every single thing that the government recommends. The government recommends you don't drink with breakfast. I might try it every once in a while. No, but it's that sort of line of thinking that I think is such a big difference between the conservatives and the liberals right now. If you could invest in or short stocks. I would have totally shorted Irish coffees because as soon as it came out, we're like, drink is fine, just not at breakfast. It's like a million maga people. We're like, oh, I don't know more bailies from a breakfast coffee. I guess I have to skip out on my espresso martinis from now on. All right. I'm going to get a little into this more later, but I want to get your thoughts. You know, we had the Venezuela thing. Kind of cool. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah, it was awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Also. I haven't been more patriotic in my entire life. One more day to talk about my boy, Marco, and how awesome he is. But anyways, I wanted to talk about the Senate votes on this War Powers Authorization Act. Josh Holly and Eric Schmidt take different positions on it. Give me your thoughts on this. Yeah, this was weird, and I saw a lot of people. in Facebook comments and things like that going, oh, Josh Holly's just doing this because he wants to run for president one day. And you know what? Yeah. Of course that's the reason. And what's the lane? Is the lane, hey, JD Vance and Donald Trump are still warm on green and I'm going to be the more dove? Is that the lane? Or is it just like, you know, Congress should, I don't know. What's the lane? I think he's picking it off his options because there's a couple ways Venezuela can respond, right? Whenever it took place, there was this sort of hope, I feel like, that Venezuela or another country that was formerly backing Venezuela will respond, get us into another long, drawn out war. Nobody wants that, right? Everybody kind of agrees that that doesn't work well in America's favor. I think Josh Hawley not was genuinely crossing his fingers that that would happen, that would be crazy, but was preparing to take the vote and then simply say, look. I took this vote because I thought it would keep us out of war. Now we're in war. And he's going to remember this vote in two years. Right. His statement was, listen, if the president wants to put boots on the ground in Venezuela, he should get Congress authority. And that's what I voted for. I didn't think his explanation was that bad. Now, it's not the easy one. He's all these people like, oh, you're terrible. But I was like, here's a deal. I think.
Now, of course, I like immediately start thinking there's an angle here. Number one, it's the presidential angle. Number two, there's these rumors that his wife may be in line for this Eighth Circuit Court of Appeal spot, which could break one of two weeks. Either she's not getting it. And he's like, fine, I'll stick it to you up, Mr. President. Or B, he's like, hey, I can be like a pain in your butt. But if she gets this, I'll be back in the full. Like there's chest pieces all in the background, which, but the really. I've talked to several people that are in the Holly or, and every single one, I'm saying the same thing. He just thought this was the correct bike. He thought policy, this was the right policy, that the president should have to request Congress grant war if he wants to put boots on the ground, and he just did it because he thought it was right. And I kind of think that's right. Sure. I mean, that makes sense to me. Anytime a Republican tells Trump not to do something or that he can't do something, it's going to make headlines 10 times out of 10. I also. preferably would not have boots on the ground in Venezuela constantly. So I get that. He probably should have congressional approval to do that. Which is what made this so awesome. They're in, they're out. There's no seven-year war. There's no $100 billion authorization. There's no like ridiculous fly out and fleeing like we did in Afghanistan. It's quick, easy surgical strike. The CIA under John Ratcliffe, the Delta Force. I mean, this was a mad flex on the rest of the world. And this is what I loved so much about it was because, again, I'm in Facebook comment sections all the time now. Not talking, but scrolling and stuff. And my favorite response from liberals, whether it was a random lady down the street, whether it was ABC News, he's just doing this for the oil. So? Please. We would like that. That would be amazing. Trump doesn't have a secret. Have you noticed that your gas is really cheap right now? It's kind of awesome. Trump doesn't have a secret oil silo in his Trump tower that he's holding it for himself and selling. It's going to you, the American taxpayer. I played a clip yesterday. It's kind of like mini viral, but you've probably seen it. It's from the Tom Clancy. novel made to a show, Jack Ryan. And it's amazing because he starts going. He's like, who's got more oil than any other country in the world? Who's got more strategic minerals than any other? Like he just goes right. It's all that as well. It's like, oh my gosh, this was. And then you liberated this country from a dictator. You're allowing democracy to reenter. No lives lost. No gazillion of the dollars spent. This was as, and it's all Western Hemisphere. And I kicked the week off, like I'm going to edit, talking about, you know, Donald Trump's like, well, we used to have the Monroe Doctrine. Now we have the Don Roe Doctrine. And I did it like a deep dive on what those both mean because for all the people that say Trump's an idiot, I think he actually has an ethos. And I think his idea of how the Western Hemisphere should be governed. And I'm sure it's informed by Marco Rubio and by, you know, his hagsteth and whoever his advisors are. But this idea of, listen.
Greenland and Venezuela are very important for our geopolitical interests and our alliance strategic defense. And oh, yeah, they also have a ton of minerals and valuable commodities. This is, I don't know if people know this. I said this the other day. In 1860, we offered Denmark a huge bunch of money for Greenland. In the 1950s, we went and offered that a huge bunch of money. Like, this isn't like something Trump just dreamed up. This has been 150 years in the making. He's just the one that's like, fine, let's go do this thing. And now you got Marco Rubio negotiating with Denmark over Greenland. And it's like, guys, this is really cool stuff. Yeah, the only, the only serious spending that I saw in, um, in Venezuela is that I think there was like a hundred billion going to, or, uh, 100 billion American oil companies spending money in Venezuela to help. And that's what's so cool is, A, we'll make that money back in a heartbeat. This is oil we're talking about. Guys, Chevron and Exxon are going to make it rain oil money. It's going to be crazy. Yes, we'll be, we'll be dancing in the oil at this point. It's going to be amazing. They get their dividends for sure. Oh, gosh, yeah. But, and also, what was the other thing I wanted to say about this? Totally lost it. As I said, we don't plan this stuff out. We just kind of roll with it. We don't sometimes. Oh, and this is what it was. Venezuela is about to flourish. Oh, their stock market has doubled in a week. Yeah. Doubled. Not like up 10% a week. Doubled in a week. Isn't it crazy that on the scale of top cities in the world versus third world countries, New York and Venezuela are about to totally swap places. That's true. It's going to be so fun to watch. I said this at the beginning of the week. I have kids. a lot and I have a limited amount of resources. If I did not have kids and I had unlimited resources, I would have been on a private plane on Monday flying to Venezuela and buying up as much beachfront property as it could. I saw lots on the beach that are like $200,000. That's going to be a $10 million place in five years. Like you could make so much money just going down there and buying up a bunch of the land, building houses on it. In a couple years when you have a democratically elected president and everybody's like, oh, the new place to cruise to is Venezuela and Caracas and let's go. And all of a sudden you're like, oh, yeah, I'm Airbnb in these insane houses. And instead of all the celebrities going to St. Bart, they're all going down to Venezuela. That'll be the new party, party animals of the world. I'm excited, especially whenever we really start going in and taking care of the cartels in Mexico. There's going to be a stigma around going to Mexico. Skip it. Go to Venezuela. Blowing past you, let's go liberate Cuba. Because everybody I've talked to is like Cuba has the most beautiful beaches in the world. It's time for Cubans. Start making Cuban cigars again. We're tired of them. Drying their leaves, sending them off to Nicaragua because we can't import Cuban cigars. Let's just go get rid of the Castro regime down. Ironically, I was in the Caribbean near Cuba when the Venezuela rate happened. And everybody on the boat is like, Are they just going to swing by Cuba and liberate them too? And I'm like, this is amazing. This is the greatest of my life. It's so fun. An American military two for one would have been the greatest thing in the history. I mean, oh, my gosh. All right. We're out of time. We're going to come back. I want to spend a little bit of time. Garrett's got to jump on a call for a minute, but I want to spend a little bit of time breaking down. This Eric Schmidt and Josh Hawley disagreement on this war power result. We'll do that next. Don't forget, we're going to wrap up the show with the snake draft. I'm Elijah Har.
sitting here with Garrett Bowles here on KWTO.
