Justin Goodman from White Coat Waste Project on Experiments at Mizzou

You may or may not remember this, but I don't know, a year or two, three years ago. We had a long conversation about Dr. Anthony Fauci and some. dogs that were being experimented on. Everybody lost their mind. Like, what are they doing? They're doing experiments on animals and subjecting them the most extreme conditions and things like that. Well, at some point, people got fired up and that all ended. Well, then recently, a story came out. that the animal experiments aren't over. And not only are they not over, but that they're taking place in Missouri by the University of Missouri, joining us now on the show, Justin Goodman from White Coast Weight, Justin. Welcome to the Elijah Har Show. Hey, Elijah. Great to be back. Justin, it's hard. I don't even know where to start. Let's start with. What do you know, like when did this program start at the University of Missouri? So we've been following the money to Anthony Fauci since we first exposed his funding for the Wuhan lab in early 2020. And then soon after that, we first broke the story about Anthony Fauci's funding for those beagle labs around the world. So kind of the infamous photo of these drug beagles with their heads locked in a mesh cage being bitten alive by biting flies. And we've been trying to document all of the beagle labs and kitten labs he was funding not only in this country, but around the world. But a few years ago, we identified a lab at the University in Missouri where an animal experimenter has four separate NIH grants from Dr. Anthony Fauci. to fund the, literally the most painful experiments imaginable on hundreds of beagles. So this lab at Missouri buys puppies from this disgusting puppy mill out in Wisconsin. They buy beagle puppies. They bring them into the lab at the University of Missouri. And then they shave their fur and they put capsules full of infected ticks. They glue them to their skin and let the ticks bite them, hundreds of ticks at a time on these beagles, and they completely deny them any pain relief. Which is so crazy because all of this information about how these tick-borne illnesses, limes, alpha-gale, whatever, it's been a long-standing thing in the federal government to experiment with it.

Yeah, absolutely. I mean, yeah, and Lyme, you know, that's one of the other diseases that people are concerned was the lab created pathogen like COVID that leaked out of an NIH lab, actually. So they, like how many dogs are we talking about? For the current project that's being funded by the NIH, that Anthony Fauci initiated, that it's still going on under the Trump administration of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s NIH, they are planned to use 400 Beagles just in this one project. And like I said, it's being funded by four separate taxpayer-funded grants that's the cost of many millions of dollars. So we've been fighting this laboratory since Anthony Fauci was still in office, have continued to fight it. have prioritized for the Trump administration at the beginning of last year, defunding all of Anthony Fauci's labs. This was one of the poster children for that campaign of infesting beagle puppies with ticks and denying pain relief while they suffer in a lab. Unfortunately, the project's been renewed and it's still being funded. As we were investigating this, we also discovered more recently that there's actually an NIH-funded cat lab at the University of Missouri also, where they are. damaging cats spinal cords and drilling holes into their skulls. And that's another grant that was initiated under the Biden administration that is still active. under the Trump administration. And the problem, you know, in addition to the, obviously, the inherent inhumanity and brutality of these experiments is that the NIH's animal testings are a woman named Nicole Kleinstroyer, who's deputy director at NIH as a holdover from Obama and Biden, someone who she actually loved Anthony Fauge. She used to tweet about him. She said last year that all this funding predates her. They wouldn't fund these things. There's nothing they can do about it. We've got the pre-existing projects, but actually they've renewed the funding for all these projects and kept them going when they have the authority not to. So we've been working, you know, Rand Paul and his Festivist Waste Report that came out in December actually highlighted one of the top examples he gave of wasteful spending and the government was this University of Missouri Beagle Lab. and said, you know, not, we shouldn't be funding this and we certainly shouldn't be funding any Anthony Fauci era projects. Anything he thought was a good idea is probably not. And this isn't a good use of taxpayer money. So we've been working with Rand Paul, Senator Nancy Mace, people like Missouri Congressman Eric Burleson, Senator Eric Schmidt have been critical of Anthony Fauci's Beagle Labs, of course. So. We're working. This is our top priority right now is to defund all of these Anthony Fauci era projects. And there's literally thousands of them, thousands of grants and contracts for animal testing and other things that Anthony Fauci approved and set into motion are still active today at a cost of billions of dollars to taxpayers. You know, there's a time we talk about Doge and Elon Musk and everybody's clawing back contracts and canceling contracts. What is it about these contracts that we've not been able to get them canceled so far?

There's been a lack of political will. The NIH has the authority not only to say we're not going to fund these things going forward, right? So the NIH has complete authority to say, as of today, we're not going to fund any more Beagle testing. We're not going to start any new grants or contracts for that. But they also have their grants policy. guidelines give the NIH complete authority to say, even if there's an existing project, you don't have to renew the funding for it when the current budget ends. So some of these grants get a five-year grant, but every year it has to be renewed. And the NIH has the authority to stop funding those existing projects, and they just haven't done it. And Congresswoman Nancy Mace from South Carolina sent a letter to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a few weeks ago saying that She wanted to see the existing projects have their funding halted and for them to commit to not funding any new projects. Unfortunately, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blew the deadline for responding to that. and other offices in the Trump administration have actually been pressing the NIH to stop funding these Anthony Fauci era projects and new ones. And they've also snubbed them as well. So, you know, we're, and they're kind of, you know, the NIH right now is the black sheep. We have the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth staff, Secretary of the Navy, John Field, and essentially overnight. cut funding for grants for dogs and cat testing that we exposed. Went online said, we're not funding this stuff anymore. It actually banned testing on dogs and cats after we exposed it. Because they have the authority to do that, just like the NIH does. We have the VA has ended talking CAD testing. That started under the first Trump administration and the current VA secretary, Doug Susan Collins, is finalizing those plans now. And then I was just at the EPA a few weeks ago. They just announced a plant to phase out animal testing. And they've been shutting down labs and adopting animals out. So all around the government, we see these federal agencies inside. uh, Trump land making great progress, essentially cutting spending on these wasteful and cruel programs overnight. And you have the NIH, which is out, you know, the outlier and out of step with what's happening at other agencies. And unfortunately, the NIH is the single largest funder of animal testing in the world. And. You know, I think Robert F. Kennedy Jr. obviously wants to hold Anthony Fauci accountable. He kind of, you know, that was one of his platforms was he was going to come in and clean up the NIH. But I think there are so many holdovers from the previous administration who do feel like, you know, these people are the type of folks who had Anthony Fauci bubbleheads in their offices. They're still inside the NIH obstructing efforts of the Trump administration of NIH, of the office and the management and budget to clean that place up.

So we're hoping they do clean house. We've been calling on them to clean house at the NIH for over a year now. And it's, you know, not only your tax dollars being wasted, but we're seeing pets across the country locked in these labs like at the University of Missouri being tortured. The University of Missouri has all these dog labs, hundreds of beagles, this horrible kitten lab. And we even just got documents shown that they've been rounding up cats from the Jefferson City Animal Shelter and locking them in their labs. So. Yeah, there's really a lot of reform that needs to be done. When Eric Schmidt was the Attorney General in Missouri, obviously he did a lot to help animals. And we're hoping he steps in, joins our fight with Rand Paul and others to clean up this waste and abuse as well. All right. Okay. I know, and I don't want to like ask you your opinion of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., I wish this was stopped right now. Let's say hypothetically, I'm somebody listening to show. I'm very angry. I'm like, I can't believe they're doing this. Who should they call? Should they call Mizzou? Should they call Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? Like, what's the action item for somebody who's like, I can't believe they're still doing this stuff? I think you need to call your members of Congress. They control the purse strings. We're going into appropriation season right now, sorting out the spending bills. I say contact your members of Congress. Contact your senators, Josh Hawley, and Schmidt. Contact your House members and tell them you don't want your tax dollars funding vouchers, pet projects. And that's something they're all going to be sympathetic to. And I think they want to see happen as well. So this is on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s agenda. We know he knows about this. He's commented on it publicly. The NIH has been intransigent, but Congress. ultimately has the power to stop this reckless spending by the NIH. So I think the most important thing people can do is follow us at White Coat Waste. We're constantly posting petitions and action alerts and call-ins where you can call different decision makers to take action on this. Keep updated on the campaigns and our other investigations in Missouri and elsewhere. Do you think, I know you said he's not gotten to it yet, and listen, I never run HHS. I don't know all the fights he's got to have. Is this going to happen under Robert F. Kennedy Jr.? Are you confident on that or not? I'm cautiously optimistic. You know, the Trump administration has made ending animal testing a priority and all of that. stems from our original investigations of Anthony Fauci's Vigal Labs back in 2021. You had Marnie McCarrie, the current head of the FDA, calling those tests disgusting and saying he was going to prioritize ending them. Even J. Badacharya, who were kind of at war with right now at the NIH, the director of NIH. You know, he told me he was manned all dog and cat testing at the NIH after he got confirmed. Personally told me that hasn't happened yet. So we're really holding them accountable. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also is.

said numerous times that he's prioritizing any animal testing. So I think, again, I'm cautiously optimistic. They haven't done enough yet. They could be doing more. They could be ending these things overnight. I don't know why they're not at this point, especially because it's been very easy for other agencies to do so, and they have the authority to do so, and they have members of Congress beating down their neck about it. Have you seen people respond? Because, like, I remember when the Beagle story came out and we saw a visceral reaction from people. Have you seen people respond to this story in the same way? Oh, people are pissed. People are so upset. They're shutting down the phone lines in NIH because they're getting so many angry phone calls from people. NIH officials are canceling their Twitter accounts because they're just getting constantly dragged for continuing to fund this stuff. So the heat is on. You have taxpayers from across the country lighting up the NIH, lighting up their phone lines, their inboxes, their social media. We've got members of Congress from across the political spectrum, freedom caucus members, independents, you know, liberals, everybody asking the NIH what the hell is going on. So I think it is a matter of time. I think we're going to see this. change, but, you know, frankly, I'm shocked that a year into this administration, the NIH hasn't. just cut all funding for projects that were approved by Anthony Fauci, particularly these horrible Beagle experiments that were so infamous and notorious and that the agency was so criticized for. Most of the projects that everyone was angry about when Anthony Fauci was in power in the Biden administration are still going on. Yeah. And continue to get refunded and get renewed. And the NIH has continued to give out brand new grants for things like, you know, infect injecting dogs with cocaine and other, you know, nonsense. So again, we are cautiously optimistic. We're keeping the pressure on and we're not going to stop until they stop. It's a frustrating thing, especially like I said, we talked about this. People were upset. I felt like stuff was moving. And then to find out it continues to happen, it's happening, not just, you know, with dogs and cats, but in Missouri at a place that everybody talks about. Tell us a little bit for a lot of people who don't know, what is white coat waste. We are a nonpartisan government watchdog group specifically focused on finding, exposing, and defunding government animal testing. A lot of people don't realize that the federal government, the U.S. government, is the single largest funder of animal testing in the entire world. The NIH, National Institutes of Health, as well as other federal agencies waste about $20 billion a year. on these incredibly outdated and barbaric animal tests that don't provide a good return on investment for taxpayers and obviously are torturing millions of animals. So our mission is to expose those programs and cut their funding. We are a nonprofit. The overwhelming majority of our funding is coming from small dollar.

five, $10, $20 donations from grassroots members. We don't have big institutional donors. We don't take any government money. We didn't take PPP bailout money during COVID like other organizations took. We are a small nonprofit that is fighting government waste, fraud, and abuse. And the things were probably best known for in addition to exposing Anthony Fauci's Beagle tests. are exposing the, again, the funding for the Wuhan lab back in early 2020. That was our investigation. We've been fighting gain of function since then. And also more recently, One of our big investigations was of taxpayer funding for transgender animal experiments that President Trump has talked about a bunch and has stated the Union a year ago and elsewhere. And Doge took action to cut, but those were the experiments where they're taking lab animals like mice, monkeys, and rats, giving them hormones and surgeries to mimic transgender kids and adults and then injecting them with drugs and vaccines, shocking them, burning them and doing all these other horrible experiments on them. So we are, our job, our single focus is smoking out these wasteful and cruel animal experiments and cutting their funding.
