Something happens when you leave. This is why. You know. Are you telling me I shouldn't go on vacation anymore? Yes, that's what I'm trying to tell you. I'm saying that, you know, just doesn't hold on, doesn't stay together if you're not here. Well, we've got a lot to get to today, but right now the president is holding a news conference down in Florida, giving an update on the war. Let's listen in on a little bit of what President Donald Trump is saying about the war against Iran. World from what these lunatics are trying to do. And very successfully, I might add, we're also. waving certain oil-related sanctions to reduce prices. So we have sanctions on some countries. We're going to take those sanctions off till this straightens out. Then who knows, maybe we won't have to put them on. There'll be so much peace. But when the time comes, the U.S. Navy and his partners will escort tankers through the strait if needed. I hope it's not going to be needed. But if it's needed, we'll escort them right through. And we have the greatest mind-sweeping ability. We have the greatest ships and all of the – we know exactly where their place. We'll get them out of there very fast. But we hope we don't have any of that. And again, if they do that, if they play that game, we're going to hit them at a level that they have not seen before. So we're winning very decisively. We're way ahead of schedule. Our military is the greatest in the world, with the greatest equipment of the greatest people in the world. Nobody's ever seen anything like it. Iran, it's a very powerful country. They were going to take over the Middle East. If we did not hit them, they were going to take over the Middle East. They had thousands and thousands since their last hit. They had thousands and thousands of missiles and everything else. Most are now destroyed. But they were going to take over the Middle East. Those weapons were aimed at Middle Eastern countries that had nothing to do with this. They were going to take over the Middle East, and they were going to try and destroy Israel. So we stopped it with good timing, and we're very proud to be involved in this, and it's going to be ended soon. And if it starts up again, they'll be hit even harder. Thank you very much for being here. Go ahead. Any questions?
Thank you. Thank you so much. Go ahead. Do you approve of Iran's new supreme leader. And secondly, can you tell us more about your call with Russian President Vladimir Putin today? Yes. What did you discuss? Yes, I had a very good call with President Vladimir Putin. We had a lot of people on the line from our side, from his side. We were talking about Ukraine, which is just a never-ending fight. Look, there's tremendous hatred between President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky. They can't seem to get it together. But I think it was a positive call on that subject. And we obviously talked then about the Middle East. And he wants to be helpful. I said, you could be more helpful by getting the Ukraine-Russia war over with. That would be more helpful. But we had a very good talk, and he wants to be very constructive. Yeah, please. Thank you, Mr. President. On Iran, you called it an excursion. You said it would be over soon. Are you thinking this week it will be over? No, but soon. I think so. Okay, and with respect to- Very soon. Look, everything they have is gone, including their leadership. In fact, there are two levels of leadership, and even actually, as it turns out, more than that, but two levels of leadership are gone. Most people have never even heard about the leaders that they're talking about. So it's obviously been very powerful, very effective. To Cuba, you said that Cuba wants to make a deal. Yes. What would the United States get in return for that? And why should Americans trust Marco Rubio to negotiate it? Well, Marco Rubio is doing a great job. I think he's going to go down as the greatest Secretary of State in history. Look at what we've done as a presidency. Look at what we've done as an administration. They trust. Marco, and so to the American people trust. He's been successful no matter where he's been. He also speaks to language, which is always nice and always helpful. But he's dealing, and it may be... a friendly takeover. It may not be a friendly taker. It wouldn't matter because they're really in they're down to as they say fumes. They have no energy. They have no money. We thought you'd like to listen into a few minutes of what the president Trump was saying about the war against Iran. Greg, before we were able to join him. He cited some numbers. He said 51 ships have been taken out. And he said, I didn't realize that Iran had that many. But they've been taken out. Basically, their missile and drone delivery systems have been wiped out. There have been more than 5,000 targets identified and hit by the U.S. military. You know, his expression was, we're winning decisively. And if we wouldn't have done this, Iran had plans to take over the Middle East. So that's just a quick recap of what the president said before the media today. Yeah, you know, and I think that I think it's important to note that.
how they are dismantling that regime 47 years of just really they're they thought they're in a war with the United States whether we you know people have said we've begun a war they have had that mindset and they've acted that way from the beginning but to see not just you know the stations that would fire the missiles and even the trucks that would be mobile to try and evade detection that would that we've bombed and then you take the manufacturing where these missiles were even being made and wiping that out Even we said, I said this last week while you're gone, Rod, that the lack of leadership was apparent when Iran began to attack Arab states that were staying out of it. But once they began to become, they were being attacked, they actually were drawn into that battle. There's not a smart person to be found in Iran. If they're picking fights with who would have either stayed out of it or been their ally. And they began to, they began to bomb Iran and Dubai, Dubai, all these places. So. You could tell there wasn't anyone really running the ship last week. And I think that they have been brought to a, they've been set back so, so far that I, you'd like to see those protesters if they were protesting as much as they were, had a plan if they had this window of opportunity. It's not up to us to decide. But whatever emerges from Iran after all of this will be a shell of its oneself. It's not going to be the same player in the world in terrorism. and destruction as they once were. Yeah, those thousands of people, Greg, you're right, who before the war started, were out on the streets protesting against the regime, being run by the Ayatollah. They estimate maybe 30 to 47,000 of them shot and killed during those demonstrations in Iran. What are those people waiting for? Are they waiting for a cue from the president to get into the streets, start taking over? You know, does he have to take more of the leaders? We've got a new Ayatollah. talk about that. You're on the show a little bit later on. So I'm with you, Greg. Yes, I understand what the president is trying to do. The next step is what we're wondering. And maybe we need to be patient. Let this first step be carried out. That's what he's trying to do right now, what he's talking about today, and then see what happens when we go from there. We'll have to wait and see. Yeah, I think, well, we saw the cost of, I think crude oil was up to $114 a barrel over all this, the panicking. The Republicans that just want to panic and clutch pearls and say he can't do anything. They had that, the speculation on oil went up sky high. It dropped down to $83 a barrel today. And look, our supply, our supply chain, nothing has changed materially. This is a speculative market. And I think a lot of people were trying to drive it up to maybe dissuade president from what he was doing. I don't know what. All I will say is this. When Trump announced that he's not going to be there forever, he's not going to, I don't think he wants to show his cards to Iran. And I think that's smart. But if someone thinks this is going to be another Iraq or Afghanistan campaign, it's not. Yeah. And he said as much, and that's when you saw the cost of oil come down to $83 a barrel. So. Well, and he said over the weekend that we may suffer a little bit of pain. Well, we're going through this. He understands that. John Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said that back in 1960s during the Cuban missile crisis. We may suffer a little bit of pain, but we've got to fight for what we believe in, and that's what Trump is saying right now. So you're right. The oil, the world oil market is very speculative, Greg. The president said today, we've got more than enough oil for what we need here in the United States, but it's all driven by world supplies, and it will come back down.
Yep. I think. Well, it is coming down now and we'll see. I think that's what this press conference that we were just tuning into as well is just for him to say, look. We're ahead of schedule. Things are going well. With his place, I mean, they had however many ships, 50 plus naval ships, they're gone. 51, yeah. You know, it's, I think that, I think he's trying to bring some calmness to what's, you know, what the markets have been doing and what the commentary has been. Well, it's great to be with you on this Monday afternoon. Rod and Greg back together again on Utah's Talk Radio 105.9 can't arrest. When we come back, what radical environmentalists are doing to. Week in the Navy. We'll talk about that next on Talk Radio 1059, KNRX. Hey, before we go to our next interview, we were talking about the price of oil. Well, guess what? CNN just admitted. The price of oil dropped today. Yeah, oil prices hitting their lowest level of the day after crashing through that $100 a barrel benchmark overnight, even reaching up to 115, 120 a barrel, those are numbers that we haven't seen for nearly four years since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out. But even though these levels have come down to about $85, $90 a barrel, still 30% higher than they were just a month ago. But they had to admit. They are down. I love it. It kills them to do it. It kills them. Well, you have been a sharp critic of what is going on in the beautiful waters surrounding San Diego, California. Yes, in Coronado. Would you like to fill people in about your major beef? Yes, briefly. Coronado, just off of San Diego, it's a nice bridge that takes you over there. They call it an island, but it's not an island. But it has the military base is if you were to look from a bird's eye view, it's most of that area. They have an airport area there, and then they have a training facility where they train the Navy Seals. Well, they've had to be forced, and Navy Seals can no longer train there because there's a Tijuana toilet going on. There's a river that is pure, raw sewage that for so long, six years, four years, whatever it is, it has closed an entire ocean to the north of where this river is. And at the same time, I have seen environmentalists crazies criticizing the Navy. about how they're harming the environment and not word one. There's like hazmat, you know, signs saying you can't get in the water in the ocean. It's very selective. It has no basis in reality. And I don't know how you could look at the Navy and say, you're an environmental hazard. Well, that.
I'm not even kidding. That toilet sits out there that we used to call the Pacific Ocean off of the beaches of Coronado. Well, joining us on our newsmaker line to talk more about that right now is Kevin Mooney. He's an author, investigative reporter with Restoration News, also a writer, Commonwealth. He's been talking about this. He's got a bookout on this, talking about how radical groups are going after the Navy. Kevin, how are you? Welcome to the Rod and Greg Show. Yeah, thanks for having me. I love your show. It's really nice if you'd have me on. I'm glad to be here. Well, Kevin, talk about what some of these radical groups are doing to the Navy. I mean, they're going after almost everything, aren't they? When it comes to naval training. They are, but you know what? It's the fault of your brutus lies in ourselves. We have these open-ended environmental laws, like great big avenues for lawsuits. So we have these green groups. following lawsuits against the U.S. Navy because they're worried that Navy sonar and Navy exercises are going to harm the environment, foreign marine life. Meanwhile, China is racing ahead. What we need to take a look at is, first of all, the financial trail is pretty obvious. The National Resources Defense Counsel and other groups that are soon in the U.S. Navy have strong ties to Beijing. On the other hand, it's our own environmental laws that we need to take a hard look at. So I repeat, it is the enemy within. Let's put an end to this abuse of litigation practices. You know, Gavin, maybe you heard what I was saying right before you came on the show, but I find it that the rank hypocrisy and the disconnected argument that the Navy, whether it's the oil coming from their ships or whether it's the sonar or whatever they may argue are the environmental hazards created by these naval bases and the training that goes on. When you put it in front of a notion. the Pacific Ocean that you cannot train in because it is so contaminated and so polluted because of a true environmental disaster, which is coming out of Tijuana. How can they continue to credit? Because they do it even in Coronado newspapers. You'll see the environmentalists are still going after the naval basis. How can they do it in the face of a true environmental crisis? Don't they lose any credibility here? Hanging out at the pool is great. Visit iHeartadvertising.com. Again, that's iHeartadvertising.com. I think you're starting to, and I think you described it extremely well. There is one country on planet Earth that cares about the environment, and it's this one. Yes. It's the United States of America. We've lowered our pollutants.
We have cleaner air, and also we have a U.S. military that is a great force for good in the world. Now, nobody says there's a zero environmental impact. What I'm trying to get at, and especially with this book I'm writing called Climate Porn. You can find it at Amazon.com is that there's a lot of phonyists behind the climate and slash environmental movement. Nothing they do is good for the environment and the climate. It's all about anti-Americanism. The greatest polluter on planet Earth is communist China. It's not the United States. We should unleash our military, do our military testing. And of course, we should be careful about what our footprint is. I think that this country is, but it's a funny argument. All these groups are getting money from China are these great environmental advocates, and it should be obvious how phony that are arguments. Well, I think it's funny. Surprise, surprise, right, Kevin, that China and Russia are both behind these efforts. How much support do they get from these two countries, these environmental groups? Well, like I said, I've talked about the enemy with Tanner. And you're answering this question at just the right time. We have these big incubators for money called Left Wing Foundations. There's a Tides Foundation, the George Soros Foundation. You know, all these left-wing foundations, there's a great site, by the way, called Big Green Inc. that my friends of the Institute for Energy Research, I'll give them a blood here. They're tracking this stuff. But you hear this phrase called Big Oil? I turn around, I call it Big Green. Tony Big Green. They're getting money from overseas, pumped into these left-wing foundations, billions, billions of dollars, not millions, billions, billions, being pumped into these anti-energy, self-described climate movements. In terms of money and organization, we're at a great disadvantage. So let me ask you this. We really are. So you have the anti-American side of this. What about just raw greed? I was shocked at the NGOs and some of the people that go into this, whether it's the carbon credits, you name it, some of this seems like just a money game where people are making a ton of money without regard in actually harming the environment. Is just good old-fashioned greed feeling any of this? Yeah, I'll give you Exhibit A, by the way. Governor Gavin Newsom from California. Look all the trips he takes over to China. He's lining his pockets all over the place. But, you know, in questions of morality and patriotism, I think it's fair to raise those questions. This fellow, not just him, by the way, but bought and paid for, selling yourself out and, you know, lining your own pockets and not advancing the free market system. So, yeah, you're asking these questions at the right times in exactly the right way. But I would just ask your listeners, take a good look at Governor Gavin Newsom. Somebody's probably going to be the nominee for the Democrats. And he's bought and paid for all over the place. Kevin, before we let you go, let's give you a chance to give your new book out. Free plug. Where is it? How can people get a hold of it, Kevin?
Yeah, thank you, sir. Amazon.com, climate foreign and Kevin Mooney. This book is hooked on 250 years of American independence coming up here in July. I'm making an argument for the United States of America to get out of these UN climate agreements for your economy to become an independent free country again. And I've got to tell you, Donald Trump and team are starting to do it. So let's just hope. Give our fingers broke. Good luck with the book, Kevin. Thanks for your time this afternoon. Thanks for having me. Thank you, sir. All right, that's Kevin Mooney. Joining us on our newsmaker line or any hour newsmaker line with Utah's talk radio, 1059, KNRS. All right, the president held the news conference just about 35 minutes ago. You heard a portion of that here on talk radio, 1059, KNRS. And he was asked today by the appointment of a new Ayatollah for Iran. And he said he was disappointed. in the new pick. Didn't say much more than that, but he was so-called disappointed in the pick that they made, who happened to be the son of the Ayatollah Khomeini, who was killed in the Iranian attacks. Yeah, I think he was hoping for maybe these protesters have a plan in addition to protesting, maybe to seize the moment and maybe help bring someone that would want to work with the United States into power. But I think they've been set back so many decades. I mean, they can keep maybe the same. you know, sheet of music, but I don't think they can sing like they used to. Yeah. Well, joining us on our newsmaker line to talk about Iran's new supreme leader is Kenneth Abramowitz. He's an author, founder of Save the West.com. Kenneth, how are you? Welcome to the Rod and Greg Show. Great, great to be here with you. Okay, Kenneth. Tell us about this new leader. Who is this guy? Well, he's the son of the old guy. And the old Ayatollah. And he's, I think, roughly 45 years old, if I remember, from the newspaper article. And Israel has promised to eliminate him within days. So I think there's going to be the shortest living Ayatollah and the history of Ayatollahs of the history of the world. And by the way, when Iran brought in a new defense minister. after the old one was killed, Israel killed him the next day. So I hope he has good protection for his sake. So where does it go through? So it looks like they've come so far down the rung in terms of leaders that they've been decimated in terms of their infrastructure of leadership in that country. Is there anyone honestly that they would anoint or declare it is a leader that is actually a good leader or a real leader? It seems like they're... It's almost like you've gone down into grade school, and you're asking who wants to be the class president at this point, or am I being naive? Well, you should bear in mind this. It's like asking Hitler, after Hitler's commit suicide, to say, who wants to be the next Hitler? Well, you don't really care who the next Hitler is because the next Hitler you're going to kill. Because they're not doing it. And now we have Iran, I call them Islamo Nazi death kelp. And the point is they all have to die. It's not nice to say that. But when you have a death kelp who's promised to kill all the Christians in America, all the Jews in Israel, and all the Hindus in India, and now they're attacking all their Sunni Arab friends. They just have to be eliminated.
The country has to start all over with a new government run by humans as opposed to run by animals. Kenneth, let me ask you this. It's labeled as Iran's new supreme leader. Is the supreme leader, does he have complete control over the country? What does that mean when he's labeled the new supreme leader? Well, we're talking about dictatorship. So, for example, President Vladimir Putin, they don't call him Supreme Leader, but he's the equivalent of the Supreme Leader of Russia. And President Xi Jinping is the equivalent of the Supreme Leader. It means that they're basically a dictator for life. The question is how long is their life? So now he's 45, so who's going to listen to him? So there's probably a variety of evil people around him who are basically going to make the decisions, and then he's going to announce the decisions. So I mean, it's like, it's like when you have a, in the olden days, when you have a king who's like 15 years old, and he's the king. Yeah, he's the king. But the people around them, the staff around him are making all the decisions, and the king is just pretending to be king. So he'll pretend to be the supreme leader until... He's eliminated. But basically, everyone in the Iranian government has to go. And I expect them all to go by the time that march is over. And I'm hoping that in April will actually have a renewal of the country. It's a wonderful country with wonderful people. But hopefully we, the people, take over rather than they, the elites. So I expect all they, the elites, to be eliminated in March, and we, the people to take over in April. When you say we, the people, are you talking about the protesters? Because my thought is, we've heard from this administration, and I think rightly so, we don't want to be involved in nation building. It doesn't work well. It hasn't worked, didn't work in Iraq or in Afghanistan. So we want to really leave it to the people. You look at Venezuela, we didn't go and just install a government there. We let that kind of emerge, and they look to have better relationships with the United States. So if you didn't want a nation build, where are these protesters? And I heard that it's terribly. Tens of thousands were killed by this Iranian regime. Are they prepared? Are they poised to take over? As you describe, they, the people to take over this government? Well, there's lots of opposition groups. And like an opposition group, every one of them wants to run the country. So I'm sure the State Department and the CIA and Israel's equivalent are talking to all of these opposition groups and trying to get them to coalesce and agree on one person. perhaps the son of the shop, to take over temporarily and guide the country to a better future of a more democratic future. So I'm sure that's what our secret agencies and Israel are working on feverishly in March, to collect the right people to take over in April after the wrong people are eliminated in March.
Kenneth, I want to ask you about the paramilitary group, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the IRG, reporting directly to the Supreme Leader. Do we have any idea of the status of that group right now since the bombing and the attacks began a week ago as to their power, their structure right now? Do we have any idea where things stand with the IRG? Happy birthday, America. It's time to celebrate and play your favorite Las Vegas casino games by American-owned SpinQuest.com. But my point is, ads on IHeart Radio actually get heard. In the car, at the gym, on the couch, while people are walking their dogs. Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? You're a good boy, that's right, you're a good boy. So why not make the next ad about you? Get started today. Call 844-844-Ehart or go to IHeartadvertising.com. That's 844-844-Ehart or IHeartadvertising.com. Yeah, so the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the IRGC, is about 150,000 strong, and these are professional killers, and they're supposed to enforce the will of the supreme leader. But the supreme leader is a supreme leader in the name only. So they're suspicion that in April the Islamic Revolutionary Guards will take over and say, we got rid of the Ayatollahs, all these religious lunatics, and now we're in charge. And so one of the big dilemmas America's going to run into is when the 150,000 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leaders say, I'm in charge. And then there's about 500,000, what they call besiege, which is local police, paramilitary. Someone there is going to say, no, no, I'm in charge. And then someone in the opposition, which is 85% of the country is going to say, no, no, no, I'm in charge. So right now there's a lot of people working on finding the right person to put in charge. But we don't want. someone from the Revolutionary Guards, and we don't want someone from the besiege. That's the 15% of the population that's part of the death count. We want people from the 85%, which I call we the people. Yeah, and hopefully we can find them. Kenneth, appreciate your insight. Thanks for joining us this hour.
Sure, pleasure to be with you anytime. All right, on our newsmaker line, that's Kenneth Abramowitz. He's an author and founder of Save the West.com. More coming up on the Rodding Greg Show on this Monday afternoon, right here on Utah's Talk Radio, 1059, Canteress. While on vacation, I did dip into the news a little bit. I knew you. Not a lot, but a little bit. You do. You know, you know. A little tidbits here and there. Try and stay up to date. But it blew me away at Jesse Jackson's funeral. What was it Friday? Yeah. That Clinton, Obama, and Biden would use that event to honor the life of Jesse Jackson to take shots at Donald Trump. And it happened, yeah, and I think they even said before they didn't want that Jesse Jackson's family didn't want it to become that. Yep, but it happened. Well, Jesse Jackson Jr., Jesse Jackson's son, decided to unleash today at Biden and Clinton and Obama for making that funeral political. Yesterday, I listened for several hours of three United States presidents. who do not know Jesse Jackson. He maintained a tense relationship with the political order, not because the presidents were white or black, but the demands of our message, the demands of speaking for the least of these, those who were disinherited, the damned, the dispossessed, the disrespected, demanded not democratic or Republican solutions, but demanded a consistent, prophetic voice. that at no point in time ever sold us out as a people. Wow, sold us out as a people. You let them have. Oh, by the way, I know you'll get an invitation to this. Obama is opening his brand new library. Ugly, that's an ugly thing. Yeah, that evil empire thing. June 18th is the party. You'll probably get an invite to the party. And then the official opening to the public is June 19. I think you put some stucco on that thing. How about some hearty board? Something. I mean, it's just a concrete, dark, windowless. I don't know. It looks like a. I don't know. Something's like a spaceship. If you're a Star Trek fan, it looks like something from the Borg. Yeah, the Borg is what I was thinking, too. It looks weird. It looks bad. I'm expecting there to be some exterior application to the outside of it. Big party, June 18. I won't be on the guest list. Yeah, maybe we'll I. All right, hour number two of the Rod and Greg show coming your way. Stay with us. I didn't get to listen to it. Sorry. You missed it? I was on vacation. You know, I know you happen to listen to the show. Occasionally. You just decided not to on that glorious day. Well, I knew Kai would be a superstar, so I didn't need to listen. By the way, he has taken some undeserved heat. My goodness. The kid, like, look, he represents his younger 20-somethings who are a little skeptical about it. Yeah, yeah. That's fine. You know, he's, he is being called an anti-Semitic. He's being attacked. And I'm just telling you.
He was on this program. We talked, he wasn't far off from the things. I didn't see a lot of daylight between us on all the issues we talked about. But he certainly has some of the, there is a little bit of a jaundiced eye or maybe some suspicion about anything in the Middle East, be it Israel or these Arab states in terms of, do any of them honestly like us? And what's that, what does that relationship look like? These are honest questions. People can have difference of opinions. You don't have to be Lindsey Graham. And if you don't, if you don't parrot everything Lindsey Graham says about wanting to go to war with everyone on the planet at the same time, that doesn't necessarily that alone make you an anti-Semite. So I think there's a lot of room for discussion. He would. I'm here to report to you, boss. I thought Kai did a phenomenal job on this program. He brought a younger generation's perspective to the discussion. And even engaging with callers, I think he did a great job. I think he's getting a raw deal online. Did you agree or disagree with them? I happen to it. I said that not wanting a good day for that Iranian regime does not automatically mean that you subscribe to every single thing that Israel wants to do or should do. all the way around, we can have, you know, healthy discernment, concern about all things. I mean, if Israel wants to go into Turkey, I would hope that Trump would say, no, we're not going into Turkey. That's not where we want to go. In other words, no one's boss and Trump around. He can do what he's, I mean, he might work with Israel, but don't think he's taking marching orders from Israel. But you can talk, I think we can all talk about those things openly. and fairly, and you don't have to be called a name, you don't have to become, you know, the enemy because you're not subscribing to what some people think, you know, it's, if you dare question Israel, then you're an anti-Semite. I don't think that's true. Yeah, that's true. Well, I'm glad you did a great job. Sorry, I didn't catch it. I think I was having some beach time on Wednesday. Sorry about that. Yeah, you're forgiven. I think that's appropriate. Well, let's talk about what happened in New York City over the weekend. Now, there is a terror warning out tonight, Greg. The U.S. apparently has intercepted encrypted communication on Iranian plot to activate sleeper cells in the West. We saw maybe an example of that this weekend in New York City. But if you ask the New York Times or a mayor, Zohran Mamdani, they would tell you that no such things. In fact, the people that were protesting saying that we're an open city and that we support everyone, they were the ones that were attempted to be painted as the provocateurs, which they were not. Yeah, yeah. So do you want me to play the... Let's play that audio you have. This is the mayor on... What was the day of the attack? Was it Saturday? Yes, and this is his response to it. This is his response to it. Now, remember, it is now undeniable that it's the ISIS people, associate with ISIS, and the people that counter-protested this that are pro-Islamic, they are the ones that threw the incendiary devices at Grace Mansion, which is where the mayor resides. But listen to how the mayor describes it and see if that's what you get from this statement. On Saturday, a protest was held outside Gracie Mansion.
where I live with my wife Rama. Neither of us were home at the time. This was a vile protest rooted in white supremacy entitled Stop the Islamic Takeover of New York City. I'm the first Muslim mayor of our city. Anti-Muslim bigotry is nothing new to me, nor is it anything new for the one million or so Muslim New Yorkers who know this city as our home. Does that sound like it was anti-Muslim people that bombed or threw the bomb? I mean, that's what he wants to believe. But it wasn't at all. It was the pro-Islamic people that threw the incendiary device at his residence. And it was the New York Times that covered it up as well. I mean, both of them right away say, ah, it's because it's white supremacy all over the place. Apparently, Greg, there was a white supremacist. kind of demonstration there that was planned or something like that. And these two guys, they're in their, what, late teens, early 20s, who drove into New York City from nearby Pennsylvania, had these incendiary devices and threw them toward the mansion. And now police have found out that those bombs could offer. I read somewhere today, if those bombs would have gone off, Greg, it would have been worse than the Boston Marathon bombing several years ago. I mean, they were that dangerous, loaded with nails and screws and bolts and everything else. If they would have exploded, they would have caused a lot of harm. But come to find out, these are radicalized Americans. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. The exact same thing you are, listening to me, which, let's be honest, is kind of flattering. Who, you know. bought it and drank the Kool-Aid from ISIS and decided to do something about it. Even in their arrest, they were showing ISIS signs, hand gestures. Well, they were today. But here's the thing. So the New York Times wants to cover this. Okay, now listen to this headline. Smoking jars of metal and fuses thrown at protest near mayor's house. Smoking jars of metal and fruit. Would you mean bombs? Yeah.
Six people were arrested after anti-Islamic protesters, led by the right-wing activist Jake Lang, clashed with counter-protesters near Gracie Mansion. So what it should say is that the counter-protest, which is the ISIS people, the pro-Islamic people attacking these other protesters, were the ones throwing the bombs. They were throwing jars, smoking, jars of metal and fuses. Not bombs. Smoking jars. That is a smoking jar of metal infuses. That has to be a new one. And what, you know, mental, you know, yoga, you have to go through to describe it that way without being able to tell the truth about who started throwing bombs, where? You know, because they don't, heaven forbid. Everything's about, you know, we don't want to anti, we don't want to Islamophobia. How about we don't want bombs thrown by the people, you know, by the ISIS sympathizers at that protest? So anyway, I find it to be a leap of logic that is truly, verifiably disingenuous. Well, what's so more, I think more interesting on top of that story, Greg, is right now the Democrats are blocking funding of the Department of Homeland Security at a time where we really need Homeland Security in light of what's going on in Iran. Because I think, Greg. There are more sleeper cells out there fueled by ISIS, fueled by Iran dissidents, who are going to push some radicalized people in this country to do something about it and to show their disapproval of what is going on and the attacks of Iran. And we may see more attacks. I hope not. But I think it's real. And I think America needs to be prepared for it. I mean, where you have the Democrats openly stopping the Department of Homeland Security from being able to fund it while you're hearing that there are encrypted messages from two sleeper cells to go ahead and engage in terrorist activity, when you see the New York Times go out of their way to try and hide it. Even this from NBC News, multiple arrests made after suspicious devices found outside Gracie Mansion, home with the mayor. During anti-Islam rally and counter-protests, on X, the community notes completely bust us and says the bombs were thrown at the anti-Muslim protesters, not by the anti-Muslim protesters, as this post and story would lead you to believe. Witnesses say the attackers shouted al-Aqabar as they threw the bombs at the protesters. You look at NBC News, they told you the opposite. They led you to believe the opposite was the case in that moment. The anti-Islamic protesters are the ones that were putting these bombs down. Anyway, it's pathetic that they can't even report it remotely accurate. And the police commissioner of New York, Jessica Tisch is their last name. Came out, they said, this domestic terrorism, folks, this is ISIS-fueled, radicalized young men from Pennsylvania. who somehow were able to get into the city with these bombs, I guess, and possibly cause some real damage. Fortunately, they didn't. And these kids are living in a $1.4 million home in Philadelphia outside in a suburb of Philadelphia, live in large in life here in America, trying to destroy this country or rip this country as if they've been done wrong, living in that $1.4 million home.
Hmm, that's a, that's a bit of an irony. Interesting. And that's putting it nicely. All right, more coming up. It is The Rotting Greg Show with you on this Monday afternoon right here on Utah's talk radio, 1059, KNRS. I was not here last week. Of course, war breaks out. Now I'm on vacation. What are your general thoughts? Your take on things. Well, it wasn't a surprise. There was, you know, we talk about it now as if, you know, some people like the Pearl Clutch, but we saw the, our Navy, our, you know, our aircraft carriers, everything getting positioned in that area. There was much discussion. The president was very open saying something could happen at any moment. In fact, while some of those protesters were getting mowed down, we thought it might happen sooner than later. Yeah. When it ultimately happened. The reports that we read when we were on the show last week was that unusually it seemed that all of Iran's leadership were having like a Saturday brunch. They were all getting together in a place that was accessible and open. And usually they're down in the, you know, when they think this buildup is coming, which it was. They are in, you know, deep underneath the ground and hiding in bunkers, but they were just out having this breakfast or brunch. And it was an opportunity and time to strike and they took it. And, you know, I guess usually these strikes come at night. Usually these strikes might come, don't come on Saturday mornings. And so maybe they thought they were okay. But it was a window of opportunity and they took it and it was successful. And we took it as a success. And I saw nothing but upside. in taking a regime that has wanted to destroy Americans, and has just done nothing but been the authors of death and destruction for 47 years to be, to handle it once and for all. Well, I'm with you on this, Greg, because, I mean, Donald Trump has a very simple demand for countries like Venezuela, for countries like Iran, and for countries like Cuba. Be normal. Yes. Just be normal. Meaning, have a leadership elected by the people and the country run by those elected leaders. Not what you had in Venezuela. Certainly not what you have in Iraq. And probably, certainly not what you have in Cuba. Cuba is next, in my opinion. I don't think militarily will do anything. I think we're economically squeezing them. and life is going to be even more difficult for the Cubans. And I think we'll have to see what happens with Cuba. But going back to Trump, basically Donald Trump is eliminating our enemies. Nor are their president. I mean, can you even name a president who is willing to take a tough stand on Venezuela for how long have we been negotiating with Iran about their nukes? Forever. Every president. And they all, you know, they do the Texas two-step. Oh, yeah, we'll take care of it. We're reducing. Meanwhile, behind them, they've got, you know, new facilities storing nuclear uranium to be able to, you know, someday create. As a matter of fact, there's a report today that said Iran was close to having 11 nuclear bombs ready to go.
And I think one of the questions that some people ask is I thought that was the whole point of the June strike was to eliminate that threat and to set that back decades. But you know, even the missiles that were the close, the proximity of our bases on the West and of Israel on the East, they have enough missiles and enough ability to strike American assets, Americans themselves. And they had intelligence that said they planned to do so. And so I think they struck before they could get stronger. Everything they've done is to, as you say, to placate and just keep getting stronger. I mean, thank goodness we weren't the Obama administration with Hillary Clinton and Secretary of State Parking coming and flying what? hundreds of millions of dollars or something to get them to agree to some kind of peace accord that was not worth the paper was written on. I mean, we've had terrible ways of trying to deal with a country that fundamentally and bottom line wants to see us eliminated from this planet. And they were never good negotiators. And I have no problem if it's efficient. If we're not seeing American lives lost, look, none of us have the appetite to see us. land troops into a country for the next 20 years i don't think i see that happening i don't i don't i don't either but right let's go back to obama remember what he told uh serious hasad you you you continue to use chemical weapons on your own people people this is the bright line this the line don't cross that line in the sand right Well, he did, and Obama did nothing about it. And what did his side learn from that? He could do anything he wanted. And he got worse from there. And he got worse. I want to, you know, the whole debate has been, Greg, since our attacks on Iran began last Saturday, was, is this a war? Is the United States declaring war on Iran? Well, there is a former Iranian political prisoner who was on CNN over the weekend talking about this. Listen to the story he told. I don't think it's right to say that President Trump. has started a war with Iran. I think President Trump wants to finish a war that Iran started in 1979, 47 years ago. In 2003-2004, when I was there in Iran, working on projects at a very high level, and I was in the foreign ministry in Tehran, where I met someone who was very senior. As I was leaving, he looked me in the eye, and he said, You as an Iranian-American, I want you to know something and listen very carefully. He said, we in this building, and what he meant is the foreign ministry, which meant representing the government, which means representing the regime, he said, we believe. We are at war with the United States. So the Iranians have felt there were war with the United States going back to 1979 when the hostages were taken. So they've been at war with the United States. How many times have we heard the chance, death to America, death to America, Donald and other presidents from, that would have been, would have been Reagan. Remember Reagan? He basically threatened him. He said, if you don't release those hostages on inauguration day.

Visit iHeartadvertising.com. Again, that's iHeartadvertising.com. Look out, and they released them. Yep. Because they feared Ronald Reagan would drop the bomb on them. Well, Donald Trump is just following up. and saying, look, you guys, you know, quit lying to us. You aren't doing anything about uranium, your nuclear program. You're getting stronger and stronger. If you don't. Or I'll take you out. Never underestimate Donald Trump and his decision to do things. If you do, you're in trouble. Well, you know, I've been complaining about the neocons. There's Republicans and they're in Congress. And there's not a war or a conflict that they don't love and that they don't want to engage in. And they don't want to CNN to. There is a military industrial complex that President Eisenhower, former four-star general with the Army, who warned Americans as he was leaving office. This military industrial complex is really there to make money. And these conflicts pay good. They make money. And so I have had a much, I've been much more cynical about foreign engagements about what's causing and what drives, what motivates. That said, you can't, it doesn't mean the absence of the, of the concept of peace through strength. Peace through strength is when it's appropriate, when it's necessary. You do lead and you do create and forge peace through strength. And you'll never, Iran will just never be a sympathetic nation in my eyes, in my mind, ever. Ever. I'm never cheering for anyone to lay off on Iran the way Iran has attacked this world and been the author of so much terror and death as they have. You're not going to see that single tear shed for me. that they're going through what they are, not the people, but that regime. Yeah. So, but my thing is, all those protesters step up and get going. Like, we don't want to do it for you. We're not holding your hand. They need to just go do it. Do it. That's right. All right, more of the Rod and Greg show coming up right here on Utah's Talk Radio 105.9, KNRS. I wanted to share with this with our listeners today because occasionally, occasionally you do hear these stories. Now, in your rascal days.
in high school, or in school. Did you ever TP anybody's home? I think statute of limitations is expired, so yes. You did. You did, right? Well, there was an incident in Georgia. where a group of kids decided to TP a teacher's home. The teacher's name was Jason Hughes. TP means toilet paper. So you take the toilet paper and as you throw the ring, the ball of it, it just creates a line, which then when it lands, it goes over trees or bushes, cars, you name it. Creates a mess. It's a beautiful thing. When you throw it, it's like you're just a stream and the line just follows it. Yeah, and you love watching it. Yeah, you can get the right technique. You know, you can get it far. Well, this group of kids decided to TP, the home of this teacher, his name is Jason Hughes, 40 years old. Very popular with the kids. Yes. Okay, very, very popular teacher. His wife's a teacher at the high school as well. So they decided to TP as home. They went after him, right? Well, he saw what was going on and decided to chase him, not out of anger, but just to catch him. Yes. To have a little bit of fun with him, right? Unfortunately, it had started raining, and he slipped on the street, and one of the kids, and trying to not get caught. Took the car and not intentionally ran over the 40-year-old man and killed him. Yes. Tragic story. Very. I mean, kids having fun. Teacher wanting to have some fun with these kids, right? And now these kids would be charged with the driver of the vehicle, vehicular homicide, right? Mm-hmm. The amazing story is now, Greg, what? His wife has done what? So Laura Hughes, the widow, and a teacher at the high school, has stepped forward and asked that all charges be dropped on these young people, these boys and this young lady, because she understands that it was such a tragic accident, that the grief everyone is feeling collectively is felt by all end, that there was no malice, no one was angry, and she has asked for these charges to be dropped, which, you know, is... I think is incredibly compassionate and really shows how much this couple, as teachers at that high school, did love these students. Yeah. And this was, I read a little bit into this. This was kind of a tradition around prom or around. Oh, yeah. There's these events that go on where it's the seniors tease the juniors and they go after teachers and there's just kind of a tradition in that school. administrators have been warning about this and asking him to not do these things because they can get damaged property and it can go the wrong way but this this teacher was waiting for these kids knowing that this could happen he was having a fun time yeah and uh and then he slips and he gets killed and i just think that the the it is true that the these kids have to let the young man that had accidentally ran over this teacher his teacher that is that doesn't go away i think there's a
Anyway, I thought that that was an incredible expression by Laura Hughes, the widow, to ask that those charges be dropped. Yeah, here's what she told the New York Times. She said, this is a terrible tragedy. We agree with that, of course. Our family is determined to prevent a separate tragedy from occurring, ruining the lives of these students by sending them to jail. Or it may be a prison term. This would be countered to Jason's lifelong dedication of investing in the lives of the children, said her husband did not run out to reprimand the group for the annual prank that you talked about, but he was only excited and waiting to catch them in the act. So here you had a teacher, I'm going to get these guys. He saw him, runs to get them, slips because they had rained on the pavement. a truck accidentally hit him a pickup truck the kids trying to get away from this he was killed the kids actually stayed they didn't run they didn't take off they stayed on the scene tried to revive them to do whatever they could do them how these kids must have felt awful yeah yeah yeah it's uh it's a sad story but again When you see humanity being expressed, I mean, it is good. I'm glad it was covered. I'm glad this is, with all the negative things that we talk about or that fills the news. Yeah. This isn't actually a positive story, the subject itself, but the fact that people could understand, you know, each other and trying to find a way through such a tragedy together, I think is worth noting. You know, and I'm always amazed. These stories will come up. Occasionally, Greg, you've heard them over the years, people forgiving somebody for a tragedy that they, how they find. What's up, everybody? It's Bretzky, and America is turning 250. And I can't think of a better way to celebrate that than playing on an American-owned social casino, SpinQuest.com. whatever it takes to do something like that. If I lost a loved one, it would be very difficult to forgive, but that's what we're asked to do, even in the most extreme conditions. It is. It's hard to imagine, and it's good to see. It really is. Well, we'll see if they do, in fact, drop the charges. I mean... I imagine if a family member said to the prosecutor, please drop these charges, could they? Or would they be, would they have to carry him out? I mean, isn't it the decision of the family or the decision of the state? It's the decision of the state, but where the victim is claiming not to want to see this so-called justice delivered, I don't know that they have a victim at that point. To, yeah, anyway, it's, it. The vehicular homicide, these are minor. I believe they're minors. So this is being... They're all minors. They're all under 18. This is all an under 18 juvenile court experience, too. But I just think they need... I think they're just trying to put a stop to something that was bad and it doesn't need to get worse. And I would hope that the... that the sentiment of the widow would carry a lot of weight. Me too. Me too. All right, more to come. Rod and Greg with you on this Monday afternoon right here on Utah's Talk Radio 1059, KNRS. Wrapped up, it's 2026 session Friday night. It sure did. Yeah, I'm glad that's over. Yeah, that's seven weeks is seven weeks enough. Now, there was an article in the media today about the lawmakers passing a bill after midnight. which is not allowed. I know. By the way, and the president of the Utah Senate, Stuart Adams came out today, said, nah, that bill's not. That's done. Don't worry about it. We aren't going to enforce that bill. Until that announcement was made today, it seemed that the Senate was trying to argue that, well, we could finish up that vote. That vote was underway, and we had more than 15. There's 29 members of the Senate, so you need a constitutional majority of 15 to pass. and that they had exceeded that threshold prior to midnight, but did not close the vote till after midnight. Now, the funny part about saying that that would mean that it would count is that we spent Thursday and Friday at the Capitol, and I spent both days saying that the next two days, it is a mad dash to midnight. And when midnight strikes, it doesn't matter. And I use this example. You can be in the middle of voting. When you hit midnight, it's done. It's done. It's absolutely finished. No, no flexibility at all. No. In fact, I didn't share this with our listeners last week, but there was a story. It could have been as recent as the 90s. I don't know when, but they threw like a blanket or a sheet over the clock so that they wouldn't know. But this is before there were computers and every desk had a laptop that told you what time it was. Did they take all the watches away from the lawmakers? No, but they just officially they didn't know what time it was. So they finished off what they were trying to do. I've heard that story, but nowadays, there's just no way. And as soon as you hit midnight, it's over. And if you haven't finished that, whatever business you were doing, you have better finished that prior to midnight or at midnight. And so when I saw that happening, I'm going, well.
I don't think that counts. Wow. But who am I to say? You know, I mean, maybe it did. But we talked about it at length, and I kept sharing that example. And then today, the state Senate came out. It is true. Yeah. That they're even, they didn't finish the vote. And so it is the bill does not count. We were talking before the show today about the Utah Compact. Yes. Which was what? How would you describe the Utah Compact? A statement of purpose? It was, but there was some, even some, things that were passed. We were going to try to create some kind of work visa partnership with a jurisdiction in Mexico. I remember that. Yeah, I remember that. There was some actual action items inside the Utah Compact. And I think it was passed. with sincere intentions of reaching out to the world and Utah being a state that would be welcoming to the world. And I was the only member of House leadership that voted against that bill. I found it to be completely unconstitutional. Too vague? No, it's just we can't direct immigration policies inside of state law. And as soon as we passed it, there was a stay or the federal courts stopped that part. faster than they could start it. So it wasn't, I thought it was, It said a lot, but I didn't think it was, I thought it wasn't constitutional. I vote against it. But there were attempts during this legislative session to kind of nip away at it, right? Yeah, kind of, well, we've learned a lot since 2010. A little bit of a trim job. Mm-hmm. Yep, and that failed. Anything having to do, I would say that there were great successes in tax relief. And I think our state's growing and there's great ways for infrastructure. And there's a lot of good positive things that occurred. But the one, the frustration that I felt, and I think our listeners felt, is that you couldn't get something done right on a 80, 70, 30 or 80, 20 issue like immigration, where every state feels like a border state now. There's some changes that need to happen there. And then on our election integrity, increased transparency, better chain of custody. These are issues that shouldn't be hard to pass, and we saw them leave the house and be stalled and not pass in the Senate. I think those items left people wanting and scratching their head, why? Couldn't we get that done? But I think on the whole, I think the state did a great job, but the legislature did. But I think those two areas of immigration and elections. More could have been done and should have been done. Well, we have talked about this on the fact that, like you say, every state is a border state. And the impact of illegal immigration, thanks to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, really did impact every state in the country. And here in Utah, and I think we're still feeling the impact of it with the cost of it. So Utah comeback is alive, but for how long? We'll have to wait and see you in the coming years. All right, hour number three coming up on the Rod and Greg Show. Stay with us.
Our listeners that call in and participate from places where we know that they only listen with the IHeart radio app like from St. George or Washington County. So we thank you everyone for getting that app and downloading it and listening in. You know, I was in St. George coming through St. George this weekend we stopped there. They have a new Costco. Oh, they do? In St. George. On the south end of town, not open yet, but the gas station is open. Ah. So we decide to go fill up there and see what it's like. You can't get into the place. You got to drive down that new highway toward the airport to get to the first exit, which was about three miles away, turn around and come back to get into it. So they got to, you have connections down there. Fix that, would you? Yes, sir. But I did drive out west, and you're right. You go southwest, I guess it would be of St. George. There's a lot of building going on out there. They're sure is. That county has grown. It's the largest county off of the Wasatch Front and the furthest away from the Wasatch Front that you can get. So it's a unique ecosystem down there. You've got a lot of people that have moved there from California and other states that were... you know, blue, but they're not bringing bad politics in. They truly were escaping, and they're Republicans or conservatives, and they're getting out of there. They're getting away from it. So they've got a good brand of conservatism running through Washington County right now. I think it's, I think it's a great county. Yeah. Yeah. And it's busy. It's getting busier. It is. It's, it's, it's, um, the growth has been unbelievable since, I mean, when I, When I started dating Queen Bee in the, you know, early 90s, her grandparents had a place down there, and it was a sleepy little town. It was not... Not sleepy anymore, man. There's no sleep down. It is. And by the way, Vegas, you get a sense things are down a little bit in Vegas. We just passed through there, spent a couple of nights there, and it didn't seem as bustling or as crazy. Well, you know, they used to have things that were free. You could park for free. Oh, you have to pay for everything anymore. They are just milking every single person there for as much money as they humanly can. And it's so dirty, and they got homeless people everywhere. And I just find the place to be, I think it is not gotten nicer. It's just gotten more expensive and not, not, not, not, it doesn't feel safe. I don't know. I don't like Vegas. I would, I go out of my way to avoid it. I used to not mind it. But it's a different place that used to be. Yeah, kind of crazy. Kind of crazy. So, well. Sin City, I don't know how I ever was comfortable with Sin City, but somehow Sin City got worse. Yeah, can it get worse? Yeah, it did somehow. Yeah, yeah. All right, let's talk about, you know, Donald Trump today held the news conference, kind of updating all of us on where the Iran war is going. He says we're ahead of schedule. Yes. We're doing just fine. He didn't, he's not making any predictions. He's smart. But he said some of the items he dropped on, 51 ships have been destroyed.
so they basically don't have a navy or an air force anymore you know he's they've shot missiles are down drones are down uh five thousand targets have been hit uh during during the war uh he said we're winning decisively and he said there were threats that iran was going to take over the mid east they were planning on doing that and he said that's we we need to get in and do that Yeah, yeah, no, it's, I think it's, again, there was a reason that the speculating, you know, the markets on, you know, the commodity markets and oil went down $40 a barrel today, down to $83 a barrel today, down to $83 a barrel. It was $114. Almost $120 today. $183. It's because he said, everybody, calm down. We're good here. It's not going to be a forever war. I didn't change my mind. I still don't like him. And he hasn't changed, honestly. Whoever, I don't know why we can't see people just trust this president. I think he's done enough and shown enough that if you hear him say something you think contradicts what he's been saying all along, give it some time because he's probably negotiating. It's probably brinkmanship. But at the end of the day, he has delivered like we haven't seen presidents do. Give the man some time to cook. And he's true to his word. I mean, I saw a clip over the weekend. Going back, it looked like 70s, early 90s. He's talking about Iran back then. And he says, we've got to take him out. We've got to get rid of him. Yep. You know, so he's true to his words. You're right. Well, all these protests that you've seen, we actually had one pro-Iran, one anti-Iran, or pro-Trump here in Salt Lake City over the weekend, believe it or not. But do they hate Trump or do they just? hate America. Let's talk about that with our next guest. J.T. Young. Hey, everybody. Lady Luck here. And we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. He's the author of a new book called Unprecedented Assault, How Big Government Unleashed America's Socialists Left. He's from Real Clear Publishing. He is an author and contributor to The Blade. J.T., thanks for joining us tonight. Your take on what you see happening in this country and around the world since the attacks began on around a week ago Saturday. I think we are seeing the usual suspects.
commit the usual offenses here. No one says that people do not have a right to protest. So let's shut that down immediately. This is not an issue of the First Amendment. It's the question as to who's coming out under the guise of protesting. And I think we see the usual suspects again, doing it in the usual places. And notice how many times when you see signs. Look at the bottom of the sign if you see it on your screens. Zoom in and see how often it says Democrat Socialists of America printed at the bottom of the sign. And that's what I think we're seeing repeatedly here is people taking advantage of the rights we have to express opinions, but also then to drive a political agenda. And there's no question, I think. that a lot of these people just truly despise Trump. And they are going to take every opportunity to take to the streets to express them. You know, you bring up a good point because I know that this Trump derangement syndrome, as we call it, really does focus on Trump. But I think it's the hate America. And I think that you can replace Trump with the next Republican nominee for president and the same vitriol, almost to the word. will be matched, maybe even worse. I've even heard that Ron DeSantis is even worse than Trump. JD Vance is worse than Trump? Is it going to play and is it going to be persuasive when everything they ever said about Trump, they just switched to the next Republican and keep the mantra going? You make a great point. And how often have we seen this in the past even going? You make a great point to project ahead to the next generation of Republican. candidates, but look at the ones of the past. They vilified the ones of the past as well. I mean, whether it was John McCain, whether it was George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush. It's just all the way down the line. Yes. What about, have they ignored what previous Democratic presidents did, like Barack Obama or Bill Clinton? Do they just ignore that? Do they say that as justified? How do they get in the middle of all of this, do you think, J.T? I think they just ignore it. I mean, again, I think what, you know, in the article that you mentioned, the one I had on the blaze, that I quote in there from what Obama said when he authorized the killing of Osama bin Laden by the U.S. seal team almost 15 years ago. you know, Obama came out and shut it down immediately that there should be no mourning for this person. Uh, because, you know, his first victims and his most, uh, extensive victims were other Muslims. And, uh, you know, Obama said that this was a cause for, uh, a cause for celebration. You know, it, um, so I think they just ignore it. Uh, and so they go straight to Trump. And, and we've seen this over and over again.
And the elected Democrats in Congress do the same thing in regards to, you know, an authorization vote. How many times have we seen presidents that take military action in the moment of our crisis? We've all recognized that that that. A chief executive has the authority to do that. And we've seen the Democrats not say a word about that when Democrats presidents have done this, but suddenly there's a hue and a cry when Trump had the opportunity to basically decapitate Iran's leadership with one strike and succeeded magnificently. You know, when we try to explain to the liberals, which they don't want to hear, the elitists, those that have Trump derangement syndrome, when we try to explain or walk through how hypocritical they are and what they condemn under Trump that they accepted whole cloth from Obama or Biden or anybody, they call it what aboutism. But my question is, do the normies, the everyday Americans, when they see Democrats, socialists on the bottom, if you do look at it. And sometimes they don't even do a very good job of hiding the leftist or communist origins of these protests. If those were far, far right signs that were being made and printed with the name of some far right organization, the media would quickly condemn it or even dismiss it. When does the American public ever catch on, or do they say, they look at this and go, this doesn't fly. This doesn't pass a smell test. This isn't a two-way street. Do we ever get to that moment or do the socialists and communists keep getting to be able to print signs and create conventional wisdom amongst Americans? You make a great point, and I think we see the establishment media, and obviously I don't lump y'all into that category because you're carrying the flag for us. But I think it's outlets like yours, it's programs like yours, and that are so strong. on the right that keep the message out there. But, I mean, to your point, the attack that took place in Texas, how downplayed is the fact that there are direct signs that that was a terrorist attack. And you don't hear that much mentioned about it, except in conservative media. The bombs that were thrown at Gracie Mansion protest. Two teenagers that had come from Pennsylvania that shouted pro-ISIS remarks, not getting that much coverage. I think the establishment media wants to hide it. They want to make this seem like this is an anti-Trump.
protests. And I think you make a great point. And I think it's just another reason why we so much need your voices in the conservative movement, because I think Americans do get it. And we have seen this on issue after issue where, whether it's the voter ID, whether it's, you know, any number of other far left. uh, issues that the, uh, establishment media either wants to hide or turn it into a different discussion. And I think you see Americans reject that. Well, we can only hope. They are rejecting. They are rejecting that. You know, I had a thought, Greg, as I was on a break last week, and around the country is in L.A. and in Vegas. And I just looked around at all the people. I love to people watch. Yeah. I'm a people watcher, right? And I enjoy. None of them seem to care that we were at war in Iran. Yeah. You know, they're just going about their daily life, their business. They're doing their thing each and every day. And they, to me, it didn't appear that they were that concerned about it. I didn't ask him. But, you know, they're just doing their thing every day. You know, we got, last week we were getting different polls. Some polls were saying that the American people were not supportive of Trump, but then we would see polls that said that an incredible number. I mean, Harry Anton showed how many, that Trump was receiving higher approval ratings and strong approval ratings from Republicans than you've seen any president of any party. Yeah, yeah. Republican or Democrat at this stage of their presidency ever received. Higher than Obama, higher than George W. Bush, higher than Clinton. I mean, he showed that. uh that the president is popular especially they say maga is ripping apart over this not really it isn't the case so i you know i just think that uh with the swiftness and the ability for our military to i think really disabled the chinese defense apparatus that venezuela had that iran was using that they thought made them a lot stronger against the united states to see that so quickly and thoroughly dismantled I think it has really sent a strong message about American strength. Do you find it interesting that we haven't? I don't think we have yet. Heard a word from China. I haven't heard any. There was a report in the Washington Post last week that Russia was helping the Iranians with some intelligence information. Not confirmed, but that was the Washington Post report. But I haven't heard anything from China. I think they're really shocked. I think that this was this. There are superiority with our cyber attacks and with our drones. I mean, I saw a report that when they came in, the Iranian.
you know, air missile defense and all in their radar, everything they have that would protect them from an invasion. It was completely, the screen was, it was as if. There was like thousands upon thousands of F-15s coming at them, which could have been drunk. They just couldn't read what was happening. They couldn't see. They could not see what was happening. They were able to scramble it, confuse it. They didn't know what was out there and what was and wasn't out there. And we had dominance over the skies of Iran immediately, which, again. I don't think China ever expected. Certainly Iran did not expect. No, they did not. All right, we've got more to come here on the Routing Greg Show and Utah's Talk Radio 1059, KNRS. I'm Big Shot Hughes. Yeah, I'm Big Shot Rod, I guess. That's it. Is that what we are? Oh, I just heard the music. I figured it was about us. Yeah. Billy Joel. I know. I love that song. You realize how many hits that guy had? Yeah, I was just, I was just actually... He's an 80s guy. Isn't he more of an 80s guy? Yeah, 70s he got his, he got his feet under him in the 70s, but 80s, I think, was his sweet spot. Was his where he hit it. But only the good die young. That's a good song. That came up on my playlist on its own. Yeah, the one I like, we didn't start the fire. Yeah, that one's like 89. Is it, 89? Yeah, probably 89 or 90. That was a very good song. Okay. Another win for Common Sense, Greg. A nine-year-old case of an Indiana music teacher. who refused to refer to students by their preferred pronouns and or names, has come to a conclusion. In the settlement, the Alliance Defending Freedom reports that Brownsburg Community School Corporation agreed to pay John Klug $650,000 after it forced him to resign his position for refusing to refer to students by their preferred pronouns. That I'm not going to do it. They are who they are. Here's what I'm calling him. They're my students. And they have now agreed to pay John Klug $650,000. Good. Good. Yeah. And they could, this thing would have never happened if they said, okay, you do what you want, John Klug. But they wouldn't let them. And they fired him because he refused their preferred pronouns or names. Hey everybody, Lady Luck here, and we're celebrating America's 250th birthday. Again, that's 844-844-I-Hart. Yeah, I think that there's a pendulum coming back. I think that people will be held accountable. And just the legal liability will settle down this. I do. I do think that corporate, big government and big corporations merged in some agenda, social engineering agenda. And we were seeing it. And I think that some of this now is they're retreating from it. Corporations and businesses and even government entities, I think, are retreating from it because they're faced with legal liability. I think it's, I think that it's about time. And I hope that we're not, it's not just a blip that while we have President Trump in here that we've seen this pause or we've seen the pendulum start to swing back. And I think we'll start to see, I'd like to see that continue. And I think it will. I really do. I think it's starting to look almost embarrassing that people took the position they had. More coming up on the Rod and Greg Show. TV commercial today. With the governor. Yes. The governor. And an ad apparently paid for by the Utah Realtors Association. Yeah, they're saying there's a lot of work the legislature is doing to reform building permits and zoning. Was that? Yeah, yeah. And that's been a controversial issue because local control, you've got counties, you've got that are unincorporated, but you have cities that really do handle that zoning master plan of their jurisdiction. Yes. uh what what the zone is how the building permit process works things like that and um the state saying well if if uh If jurisdictions are going to say no to everything, then there's probably maybe a state role. I don't know. I think it's going to the wrong direction, really. Yeah, I was going to say, can the state force the city? Yes. It can. Absolutely. On building, on zoning laws. I mean, and the reason is because the state was the state first in every political, they call them political subdivisions. Yeah, okay. That is a county and a city. They are creatures of legislation. So they are all formed in law. a county is and what a county constitutes as a county in its form of government governance as well as cities and so all of them being political subdivisions of the state means that the state can have the ultimate say that's different than our our united states in america where we have sovereign states that come together with uh those rights and only should the federal government work on the things that are specifically articulated in our constitution Different, different way. Different, different animal. It's completely different. Well, joining us on our newsmaker line to talk about that is John Sweppy. He is a senior advisor with the American Principles Project. Yes, John, I love this article. There's some startling statistics that you share here about homebuyers, just the profile, age, circumstances, things like that. Can you talk about what you've discovered with our listeners about the homebuyers in America today? What is it currently take for someone to purchase a home?
Yeah, it's actually pretty shocking. And it's been happening just over the last few years, really started under Joe Biden's economy, but it's gotten pretty bad. Now we're at the point where the median first-time home buyer is a 40-year-old, which is pretty incredible, and that is a record. And the median homebuyer period is a 59-year-old, also a record. And we were setting records on this just a few years ago. So that kind of tells you... the circumstance we're in. And I think it's actually reached a point now where we're in a home buying crisis, you know, not quite on the same level as the subprime mortgage crisis where you had home values fall, but where you have people are just completely priced out. And because of that, they're being forced to rent and not be able to build equity and set themselves behind for years and years. You know, John, before we get to what may be some solutions or approaches to this crisis, because I think you're right, it is a home buying crisis. You also mentioned that this is an affordability, but also a fertility crisis. Because I can't imagine in my mind the first time you get a home when you're 40 years old that that's the age where if you were going to start a family with your spouse, you might have missed the boat. The window might have closed at 40 or you don't have as much time. Is a 40-year-old first-time homebuyer going to impact our population and the fertility crisis that we see? Well, it's certainly correlated. And I think it makes sense from a, you know, just practically thinking about it. Of course, you know, folks who get married, one of the first things they want to do is buy a home that they can, you know, have a family in. And, you know, sometimes you have a situation where maybe a family, a couple does decide to have a child and they're having that child in an apartment. or in a rental, but then they're deciding, okay, until we get a house, we're not going to have another child. And so this is obviously impacting their decision making. But I don't think it's a coincidence that you're seeing our total fertility rate crashing at the same time you're seeing these startling home buying numbers. So you're talking to my kids. I have kids in their early 20s. And so they're starting off life. And so this is what they're confronting. What are some of the solutions or ideas? Sometimes I worry that the government wants to be a housing czar. And I don't know that government can be a housing czar. That doesn't seem to play out well. What are some good, maybe conservative solutions on how to address this home buying crisis? Well, I think it's a really challenging dilemma. And President Trump actually came under fire for talking about it back in January because he articulated, you know, it's not as easy as just building a ton of housing. There's a lot of folks in D.C., I would call them neoliberal, kind of these leftists who say, let's just build lots of duplexes, lots of multifamily housing, you know, big, big buildings, high rises.
And the problem with that is that you do risk crashing home prices. And that might sound when you're talking about getting people into houses like a good idea. But the problem is the way our economy is built, the way the American dream, frankly, has been built, homeownership is a huge part of that. And so you'd actually be hurting a lot of people by doing that. And so the president actually said, look, we need to address this, but we can't be crashing home prices. And so I think that kind of gave us a little bit of an understanding of what he's looking for. Obviously, there's some things we can still do on the supply side. We should always be looking to build single family homes. I think those are really, you know, you're mentioning the fertility rate pro-family, getting people into those communities. But I also think we have to look a little bit on the demand side. Now, as a conservative and as conservatives, you know, we're a little leery of that, direct cash payments, credits, things like that, because obviously that can have an inflationary effect. But we thought we came up with a solution that because it wasn't direct cash benefits, it was more tax benefits over time. It would help people save. And I think that's where the president's thinking is that. It makes sense. And I get what you're saying. Let me ask you this question because you mentioned the equity that people have in their homes and how you have to be sensitive of that side too. You don't want to crash a market. What about our boomers? What about the people that have, you know, acquired homes and there's been a, is there a transfer of wealth that's coming from a very prosperous generation? I'm a generation X, but does any of, is that a large enough statistic where you'll see maybe young people that would see some opportunities just from the family members they've had that have had homes for so long in a rising market? Is that a significant statistic or is that let them eat cake and kind of not realistic? It's a frustrating statistic, and I think it's something we have to reckon with politically. There's a reason why Zohran Mamdani and Zohran Mamdani... absolutely crushed it with 18 to 29 year old men. I think the same group President Trump won in 2024. I mean, Donnie was plus 40 with. And I think it's because there is this belief among the younger generations. And I wouldn't even say it's just Gen Z. I think it's also millennials, even some Gen Xers, that the boomers had it really, really great. And they've really done a great job of protecting that wealth for themselves. But we need policies that will help. spread it around a little bit. John, let me, I was an artful in that question. I don't, I don't want to, when I say transfer wealth, I didn't, I know, I didn't mean to tax. I meant, are they going to croak?
I mean, they get a diet. Like, is there an inheritance coming? Like, is there something within the family structure where you have generations that might have done well with their homes? Not to tax them more, but, and it's, I asked the question wrong. But what about just, you know, people getting older and the equity in their homes, transfer to family members? Is there anything that's large enough that could help with these savings accounts for homes for younger people in that direction? Well, I do think, you know, we do have a reality here, which is that there is a population crisis coming. This is partly why I'm a little averse like the president to massively increasing supply. Because, yes, we are going to see a lot of the boomers pass away and die off. And when that happens, you know, there's going to be all these homes that, you know, unfortunately, that we just haven't had enough folks. born to fill. And so this is a crisis I could come 10, 15 years from now where we're talking about homes not gaining any value. And so I think what we really want to do here is the president is focused, number one, on lowering interest rates. And I think that you were talking about your kids. The biggest thing they're seeing right now is, wait a second, my mortgage is going to be how much? I can't do that. I can't afford that. And so I think that will be a big contributor. But then the other thing is, you know, we need to, the president talked about, you know, having folks have a skin in the game and being saving for three to five years. I think this is the type of thing to help do that. You want to say, hey, maybe your employer will help you out. We can have this pre-tax situation, just like the health care savings accounts. Let's put some money away. And then in three to five years, you know, you're ready to have a kid or maybe you've had one. You're looking to have a second. Now you have enough to go do a down payment. Or you just wait for. three, four percent interest rates and then jump on it. John, thank you very much for joining us. That's John Schweppey, Senior Advisor at the American Principle Project. Excuse me, the most startling figure there. 40 years old. First time homebuyers. First time homebuyers. The average age is now 40 years old. Yeah, I'm going to tell you that that changes the seasons of our lives, as I've known them at least, and even my mother and everything else. There is no, you're not bringing your first child home to a, you know, to a home if you're 40 was the first time you get that own house. Yeah. I mean, it's, I don't know. I just think that it's, it is not a good sign. What's going on right now? I think it was 25. Yeah, but I was... Around 25, I think. So how old was I? I'd have to look. I didn't think I might have been 28 or 29. Yeah, but 40? 40 doesn't work. That's middle age, or it used to be. In fact, SOF's my oldest. I think we were in an apartment, but I was building my home, our home when she was born. When she was born. So you were built, but you built your first home. I did. Yeah. And by an existing home. No, I didn't. I built it. Our second home, we assumed a mortgage. You don't hear that anymore. No, you don't.
Yeah, we were able to assume a mortgage. And you don't hear that anymore, and it really helped us. Man, all those 3% interest loans, I want to assume that loan. Yeah, that mortgage. Can I get that? No. All right, final segment of the Rod and Greg show coming up on Talk Radio 1059, KNRS. Forget whatever plans you have this weekend because you're staying at home and playing on SpinQuest.
