Also 39 right now in Honeyway Falls. 702 on Rochester source for breaking news, weather and traffic. News Radio, WAM 1180. Two Rochester men are wounded in a shooting on the city southwest side. Police had the 31-year-old and 39-year-old each shot in the leg around 11 last night in Sawyer Street just off Genesee Street. Both were dropped off at Strong Hospital and are expected to recover. Investigators don't know yet what led up to the shooting. No one has been arrested and anyone with information should call 911. Five people hurt one critically. After a stolen car crash on Rochester Southwest side, police say the stolen Kia with four teens inside collided with another vehicle head-on while going the wrong way on Epworth Street near Dr. Samuel McCree Way. A 16-year-old boy has life-threatening injuries while two other teens in the car were caught and sent to the hospital. Two people in the other car also sent to the hospital to be checked out. A driver dead after slamming into a tree yesterday in Menden Ponds Park. That crash happening on Hopkins Point Road, as deputy say, the car went off the road and into the tree and then burst into flames. The driver has not been identified yet. A Newark man being held without bail on a murder charge. 35-year-old Jared Nesmith was arrested and a rain in connection with a homicide in Arcadia. Newark police say a tip led authorities to a body on the Zurich Bog Trail. A caller reported overhearing a conversation about a killing and the dumping of the body and a search with a state police dog found the remains. The victim's name has not been released and there's no word from authorities on the cause of death. Nesmuth was arrested walking in Newark and reportedly tried to run before he was arrested. Todd Holliday. News Radio WAM 1180. One person rescued from a fire at an interesting neighborhood apartment building. Firefighters say it broke out just after midnight at a four-story building on Lake Avenue near Emerson Street. Nine people were able to get on their own, but one person pulled down from a third floor fire escape. The fire was under control within about half an hour. One person checked out at the seam. No word yet at what caused that fire. A fire breaking out meantime early this morning in the Mayor's Heights neighborhood. Fire crews called out just before four this morning to a vacant home on Clifton Street. No one hurt there, but two nearby homes were also damaged. And there's no more than the cause of that fire. Authorities announcing a significant step in solving a more than decade-old cold case.

If I identified the victim as a Rochester man, a Burmese immigrant to the city named Doe So, who vanished in 2011. Stubman County District Attorney Brooks Baker says so is the man whose skeletal remains were found stuffed into a culvert between beneath Route 36 in this county by state DOT highway workers in 2021. Based upon the review of the skeleton, he wasn't hit by a car. This is not an accidental death situation. So we are treating this case as a homicide. Though so was a prominent member of both the Burmese immigrant and LGBTQ communities in Rochester. A Hemrietta man is accused of exposing himself to a mother and child near a Brighton elementary school yesterday. 27-year-old Michael Hyde is charged with public lewdness and child endangerment. Police captain Timothy Karch tells 13 Wham, Hyde had tried to flirt with a woman, but she rejected him. The male continued to follow her. They turned around and the male had dropped his pants exposing himself. They left the area and called 911 right away. It remains jailed on $1,000 bail. News Radio Wambled limited to time is now 7.05. Your next check of traffic and whether or the tents in less than five minutes. The government remained shut down, with lawmakers still dug in on a plan to reopen it. Congress will be out of session until Friday for the Yom Kippur holiday. Senators like Republican Bernie Moreno remain frustrated the government is still shut down. This is just a stupid way to run government. Marino is hoping when the Senate comes back, enough Democrats will vote for a Republican-backed stopgap measure that would extend government funding. until November. Democrats, though, have made it clear they want an extension of Affordable Care Act tax subsidies as part of any agreement to reopen the government and are calling on Republicans to negotiate. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmell's Fox News. One person injured after two Delta Airlines planes clipped each other at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. CBS News Senior Transportation correspondent Chris Van Cleve with Moore. Flight 51-55's wing made contact with the fuselage of the other airplane. We've seen some pictures from the scene that show damage to the nose. of one of these regional jets. Also, one of the cockpit windows, at least the outer panes of it, appears shattered. Delta calls it a low-speed collision. An investigation continues to figure out the cause of an explosion to Brock's apartment building that caused a partial collapse. Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker Carlson says, fortunately, no one was hurt. It is a ventilation shaft connected to the boiler, which collapsed. We believe that's where the explosion occurred. And inspectors are now looking over the foundation of the building and apartments to see if they are structurally sound. Officials say work was being done on the boiler of the time of that explosion. The man accused of killing a co-worker at the Wayman's warehouse and Bill Gates can be ordered to undergo a mental competency exam. 32-year-old Kaishaw Green has a hearing this afternoon. Police say he gunned down 25-year-old Jemir Ridley Smith inside that warehouse in July. Green was arrested while getting off a bus in Knoxville Tennessee the day after the shooting. He's charged with second-degree murder and has another court hearing next Tuesday. The upstate New York Vistage Economic Summit drew more than 300 business executives to Rochester as a strategized way to bolstering their companies in the region. Jill Nittle is CEO of executive strategies. Even though our businesses can be different industries, different sizes, so much of what we talk about is the same. So it's people. It's process. State officials say the fallout from the federal government shutdown will be felt throughout the New York State. As Governor Kathy Hochul says, the brunt will fall on some of the most vulnerable. Meantime, more than two dozen cities and counties across three states are suing the Trump administration over limits their placing on disaster prep funding. Plaintiffs claim through President Trump's direction, $350 million for emergency preparedness is being withheld from 29 municipalities in California, Washington, and Arizona. 3.6 million of that is earmarked for Santa Clara County to provide security for events such as the Super Bowl and World Cup games next year. As a result of politics, officials say the county is looking at a 43% reduction in funds for its Office of Emergency Management. The trickle-down effect means more money siphon from the general fund to fill the gap and less money for wildfire prevention or earthquake readiness and response. Jesse Gary, Fox News. There are several reports the U.S. will provide Ukraine with intelligence to conduct missile strikes deep inside Russia. The report site U.S. officials saying the long-range strikes will target Russia's energy infrastructure. The U.S. is also considering sending missiles to Ukraine that could be used in the strikes. The Wall Street Journal reports the U.S. is also asking NATO allies to provide similar support. The U.S. has been giving intelligence to Ukraine for much of the war with Russia, but this will make it easier for Ukraine to hit Russian pipelines, refineries, and infrastructure. I'm Mark Mayfield. After the boats ignored, its final call to change course because they were approaching an active combat zone. Israeli authorities say the detained activists, including Greta Toonberg, are safe and being transferred to Israel. The group, which also includes Nelson Mandela's grandson Mandela, says it won't be deterred in its mission to break the Israeli blockade and deliver aid to the Palestinians. Futures point to a mixed open, although another new record high for the S&P, if things hold out the way it looks right now. The AI boom and billions in corporate investment have been key drivers of the stock rally. Investors have also shrugged off the political impasse in Washington for now that has led to the first government shutdown in seven years, but it could delay economic reports. including tomorrow's employment data. Yesterday, Wall Street's gains ranged from almost a tenth of a percent to around four-tenths percent in the S&P and the Dow did hit new records. Bloomberg has learned that OpenAI has completed a deal allowing current and former employees to sell about $6.6 billion worth of shares in the company that's valued now at $500 billion. The secondary sale vaults the chat GPT maker ahead of Elon Musk's SpaceX. to become the world's most valuable startup. Major U.S. startups often negotiate share sales for their employees to reward and hold on to staff and also bring in outside investors. Apple's hitting the pause button on a planned overhaul to its Vision Pro headset. Sources tell us that instead the company will move staff from that project over to developing smart glasses. Here's yet another report showing how data centers are fueling soaring power costs.

The independent monitor for the nation's largest grid, PJM Interconnection, says PJM's power supply costs have surged by more than $7 billion because of the data center boom. What's more? Those soaring costs raise bills for almost a fifth of Americans from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic. Microsoft's making a move in a bid to better compete against OpenAI's chat GPT, even as it has a partnership with OpenAI. Microsoft announced a new higher-priced tier of Microsoft 365 that will include an integrated chat bot and AI features. McDonald's is on a quest to be the most ubiquitous restaurant chain on the planet. Right now, that distinction is held by a Chinese bubble tea shop. But the goal for McDonald's is to add almost 10,000 restaurants over four years for a total of 50,000 locations. No arrests yet, and eight late-night shooting that sent two Rochester men to the hospital. Police had happened around 11 last night in Sawyer Street just off Genesee Street on the city's southwest side. A 31-year-old and a 39-year-old each dropped off at strong with gunshot wounds to the leg, both expected to survive. Investigators are still working on the events leading up to the shooting, and if you know anything, you should call 911. A Rochester teen critically injured in a stolen car crash yesterday afternoon on the city southwest side, police say the stolen Kia with four teens inside hit another vehicle head on while going the wrong way on Epworth Street near Dr. Samuel McCree Way. A 16-year-old boy has life-threatening upper body injuries to other teens also taking the hospital, and two people in the other car also sent to the hospital to be checked out.

Ten people are temporarily homeless after an overnight fire in the Edgerton neighborhood. Firefighters say broke out just after midnight in a four-story apartment building on Lake Avenue near Emerson Street. Nine people inside were able to escape safely, but one person had to be rescued from a third-floor fire escape. The blaze was under control within about half an hour. One person checked out at the scene. The cause still under investigation. Meantam, Rochester firefighters called out to battle a place at a vacant home in the Mayor's Heights neighborhood overnight. It broke out just before 4 this morning at a vacant home on Clifton Street with no one hurt, but two nearby homes also damaged in the fire. There's no wonder on what caused that fire. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a driver is dead after slamming into a tree yesterday in Menden Ponds Park. The crash happened on Hopkins Point Road. Deputies say the car went off the road and into the tree before bursting into flames. Deputies and firefighters arrived to find the car completely engulfed in flames and the driver dead inside. Bud Lowell News Radio Wham 1180. A Newark man being held without bail on a murder charge. 35-year-old Jared Nassmith arrested in a rain in connection with a homicide in Arcadia. Newark police say a tip led authorities to a body on the Zurich Bog Trail. A caller reported overhearing a conversation about a killing and the dumping of a body. The search for the state police dog found the remains. The victim's ID has not been released and there's nowhere from authorities on what caused that person's death. Nesmith was arrested walking in Newark and reportedly tried to run before he was arrested. The victim of a 2011 cold case now identified using what authorities say are forensic and DNA techniques that were not available when the victim's skeletal remains were discovered in 2021. The body of Doe So of Rochester found hidden in a culvert beneath Route 36 in Stibetton County. Stubenden County District Attorney Perksbaker says the death is being probed as a homicide and they're still looking for help from the public in solving the crime. We have enough information to be able to use any tip that comes in and it will have a place in our investigation. We know an awful lot of things. We have some more people. is to put it into the puzzle, and we're hoping the community can help us with that. So lived on Alexander Street in Rochester and worked as a chef at the Monroe Avenue Wegmans. Brighton police say a Henrietta man exposed himself to a woman and her child near an elementary school. 27-year-old Michael Hyde allegedly tried to flirt with the woman yesterday morning but dropped his pants after the woman rejected him. Police Captain Timothy Karch tells 13 Wham, they're not sure why Hyde was near the school. We don't have any information to indicate that he was in that area specifically because the school was there. It may have just been a coincidence that happened to be in the vicinity while he was walking around. Hyde is charged with public lewdness and child endangerment and remains jailed on $1,000 bail. The Trump administration froze $26 billion of federal funds for Democratic-led states and threatened to start firing workers instead of furlowing them. The meantime, the president defending his decision to deploy National Guard troops to Portland. According to the president, he had no choice but to deploy troops over the protests of local officials and referred to the city as a never-ending disaster. The War Department authorized 200 members of Oregon's National Guard after Trump said he would send troops to protect the city and an ice facility. A court date today for a man charged in a deadly shooting earlier this year on Rochester Southwest Side. 23-year-old Marcus Graham faces second-degree murder and gun crimes. Police say he shot 47-year-old Jesse Jameson inside Jameson's pickup truck on January on Colton Place off South Plymouth Avenue. Jameson then tried to speed away but crashed his pickup into a parked car. The truck then caught fire was quickly put out, but Jameson was dead at the scene. You won't keep some of the money in your state's inflation refund check. State officials have confirmed for New York Public Radio, the checks must be reported as income on your federal tax return for 2025. The checks for up to $400 are going out in the mail this month to more than 8 million households. Critics note the state could have created a tax credit on the next state returns that would not have to be reported as federal income. But Governor Hoko wanted to give the relief right away.

There were six individuals that they were looking for who were associated with Tarendaya Raigwa, also associated. with dealing in drugs and guns. It's not clear if they got those six individuals. They did get 37 individuals that they've detained. A lot of them are from Venezuela. Proving that they are, these individuals are making the connection with Trenda Aragua is going to be difficult because those guys don't carry membership cards. But what you had at this particular apartment building, you had a bunch of squatters, ultimately the illegal squatters moved in. Mayor Johnson says that the crime numbers are down in Chicago. They are, in fact, down, but down from a dramatic high. Governor J.B. Pritzker claims the Department of Homeland Security requested 100 National Guard troops from the Department of War to protect ICE officers. The FBI is ending its partnership with the Anti-Defamation League. In a post on Wednesday, FBI director Kash Patel accused the Jewish advocacy group of spying on Americans. He didn't provide details. Kash Patel also claimed that former FBI head James Comey wrote love letters to the ADL and embedded FBI agents with them. The ADL said in a statement that it has a deep respect for the FBI. and remains more committed than ever to its core purpose to protect the Jewish people. The shutdown is likely to last until at least tomorrow, as senators have left town to the observance of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur. Some congressional lawmakers are asking for their pay to be withheld during the government shutdown. President Trump is defending his move to send National Guard troops to Portland calling the city a never-ending disaster and saying he had no choice despite local opposition. The Department of Defense approved 200 Oregon National Guard members to assist with security around protests and a nice facility while both the state of Oregon and the city of Portland have filed lawsuits trying to block that deployment. And the Trump administration delaying a 100% tariff that had threatened to oppose on drug makers. Last week, the president took to truth social and announced the administration when enforced the tariff unless a drug maker is in the process of building a manufacturing plant in the U.S. While the tariff is currently delayed, a White House official has emphasized the president's commitment to lowering drug prices.
