News Radio Wham 1180, what a three men charged after a 13-year-old boy was found naked and handcuffed to the back seat of a car has been found guilty. Jayquan Martin was convicted yesterday of kidnapping, child endangerment, criminal mischief, and gun crimes. Greece police say he, along with his father, Lenitz Williams, and his brother, McQuan Williams, kidnapped the teen at a Glenora Garden apartment complex. in September of last year. Martin was also accused of cutting off some of the teens' hair with scissors. Martin will be sentenced in January. The trial for the other two set for next month. The former commander of the Geneva American Legion will be held without bail until his embezzlement trial next month. Dale Mosher was in Ontario County courtroom Thursday after skipping out on his trial in September. Interim District Attorney Kelly Wofford says several officers were involved in tracking him down before U.S. Marshals eventually arrested him near Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

I'm just super thankful for the efforts of multiple police agencies across multiple jurisdictions that we have him in custody. Motion was charged with taking almost $100,000 from the Legion over several years. He's also accused of mailing threatening letters to witnesses while on the run. Dave Debo, News Radio, Wham, 1180. Rochester school employees remain frustrated with the ongoing district payroll problems. They packed the house at last night's school board meeting. Parole employee Susan Maxwell says it's time to pull. the plug on the payroll software at the heart of the problem. A difficult and critical decision needs to be made sooner rather than later. Board President Camille Simmons says they're looking into new vendors, but that'll take some time. It would not be an immediate fix as far as, oh, we pick it Friday and Monday it's in. Rochester Teachers Union President Adam Erbansky told our Bob Lonsbury this week's payroll was worse than ever before. A Brighton-Man awaiting trial for an attempted to salt at St. John Fisher University has been re-arrested there for violating a protection order. 20-year-old Shalom Matthews of Brighton was already facing attempted stalking charges for sending graphic images and messages to several women and was charged last year for attempting to stab a Fisher employee. He's now charged with criminal contempt and trespass for being on campus again. Sheriff Todd Baxter says Matthews should have been held on bail after his prior offenses. Baxter says New York is the only state that doesn't have a dangerousness element in its bail and release standards. Matthews has been released again on the latest charges. Todd Halliday, News Radio Wham 1180. Police have released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle crash in Orleans County. The sheriff's office says 78-year-old Paul Folcomer ran a stop sign Wednesday after. afternoon at West County House Road and Route 98. A cycle then hit a car sending both into a nearby lawn. Folkimer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured. Bud Lowell, News Radio, Wham, 1180. The congressional infighting over the government shutdown continues as thousands of federal workers miss out on their paychecks. Fox's Chad Perger, with the latest from Capitol Hill. Republicans convinced Democrats are on the verge of crumbling. Snap benefits expire on Saturday. Federal workers will miss a second paycheck. But Democrats are questioning why the union representing federal workers truly wants the shutdown to end. Democrats not budging. Activists pushing the Democrats' demands to subsidize Obamacare. Vice President JD Vance said it's not all Democrats who are responsible for the shutdown. It's actually the far left side of the Democratic Party because, to their great credit, three moderate Democrats joined 52 Senate Republicans to vote to reopen the government. Staffing issues caused ground delays at Reagan National Airport as senators left Washington for the weekend.

If the shutdown goes on through Tuesday, it would be the longest known shutdown in American history. At least two people are dead in New York City, killed in flooded basements triggered by yesterday's rains. A 38-year-old man died in Prospect Leffert's Gardens, Brooklyn. He reportedly ran into his flooded basement apartment to try to get his dog around 4.30 p.m. and did not make it back out. Not clear what happened to the dog. In northern Manhattan, a 43-year-old man was found dead inside a flooded Washington Heights boiler room on West 175th Street around 445. He may have been electrocuted. It's due back in court today to go over his mental competency exam. 32-year-old Kashon Green allegedly gunned down 25-year-old Jemir Ridley Smith inside the warehouse back in July. Green was arrested while getting off a bus in Knoxville, Tennessee the day after the shooting. He's charged with second-degree murder. Governor Hokel says the state will kick in $65 million more in food aid to New Yorkers who might have their stamp benefits cut off tomorrow, which will bring the total to $106 million over the past week.

the state pulling out all the stops to keep people fed. This is a food emergency, and I want to unleash every tool at our disposal to keep New Yorkers from going hungry. Meantime, Governor Kathy Hochul also says every school child statewide will be provided breakfast and lunch, and she says she's working on a plan to send food home with the kids. Over 40 million Americans who depend on food benefits may see their aid come to an end if the government shutdown continues. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is warning about what that could mean. ask our food pantry struggle to keep up with increasing demand from the influx of SNAP beneficiaries. They'll have fewer and fewer resources to help. She says, She's one of several Democrats who say the Trump administration can use contingency funds to continue the benefits. Democrats are furious over what they say is a lack of answers on strikes against alleged drug boats. The Trump administration briefing the House Armed Services Committee over the use of deadly force on ships in the Pacific and the Caribbean accused of carrying drugs to the U.S. Congressman Seth Moulton is one of the Democrats who left the briefing frustrated. Am I leaving satisfied? Absolutely not. Democrats were also frustrated with a briefing given to just Republicans on the Senate side. Most Republicans, though, are supporting the Trump administration's efforts, saying the aggressive approach is sending a message to the cartels and keeping Americans safe. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmell's Fox News. The Justice Department is investigating money donated to the Black Live Matter movement. CBS's Stacey Lynn has more. The group had an influx of donations during the summer of 2020. The DOJ is investigating how that money was used and whether leaders in the movement defrauded donors. In a statement, Black Lives Matter says they remain committed to full transparency, accountability, and the responsible stewardship of resources dedicated to building a better future for black communities. JetBlue says several passengers and crew members were injured yesterday when a Newark-bound flight from Cancun experienced a sudden drop in altitude. The Airbus 320 was diverted to Tampa International Airport, where it landed safely around 2 p.m. Eastern. Some of the injured were taken to a hospital, but it's unknown how badly they were hurt. The FAA says the drop in altitude was due to a flight control issue. JetBlue has taken the aircraft out of service for inspection.

Rates pricing and other insurance data are available on health care.com. Premiums for insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act are expected to go up by 26% on average. Health research nonprofit, KFF, is warning that the cost of coverage could actually go up 114% on average if the health insurance tax credits expire. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services says, however, that most enrollees will still be able to get plans with higher deductibles for no more than $50 a month. Stock futures point to a higher open, boosted by tech earnings. Apple predicts a blockbuster holiday season, boosted by its new iPhones, the company's latest quarterly sales and earnings beat estimates. The outlook indicates the company is navigating a range of challenges, including trade tensions, China weakness, and delays developing AI features. stronger than expected growth in its business that includes its music and TV offerings. The wearables division did better than expected. Amazon delivered a strong performance of its cloud business and core retail operation. The Web Services Unit posted the best growth rate in almost three years. Amazon's been working to boost profitability of the retail business in part by stepping up automation. It's also spending big on AI. Stocks slid yesterday with declines ranging from around a quarter. quarter of 1% to almost 1.6%. I'm Gina Servetti for News Radio Wham 1180. Jayquan Martin convicted yesterday of kidnapping, child endangerment, criminal mischief and gun crimes. Greece police say he, along with his father, Lenis Williams, and brother Mike Juan Williams, kidnapped the teen at the Glenora Garden's apartment complex in September of last year. Rochester school employees remain frustrated with the ongoing district payroll problems as they packed the house at a licensed-night-school board meeting to prevent those frustrations. Rochester Teachers Union President Adam Bermanski told about Rodoltsbury that this week's payroll was worse than it ever had been before. The government shutdown now in its 31st day and will continue at least through Monday. The Senate adjourned on yesterday and will not be again until after the weekend. There continues to be no clear end in sight as millions of low-income Americans. We'll soon feel the pain of the shutdown with food stamps benefit known as SNAP, set to expire tomorrow for roughly 42 million people nationwide. At least 50 people now confirmed dead across the Caribbean after a battering from Hurricane Melissa, the majority of the deaths coming from floods in Haiti. Jayquan Martin was convicted yesterday of kidnapping child endangerment, criminal mischief, and gun crimes. Greece police say he, along with his father, Lenitz Williams, and brother Mikwan Williams, kidnapped the boy at the Glenora Garden Apartments Complex in September of last year. was found handcuffed and naked in the back of a car, and Martin had to cut off or did cut off some of his hair. Martin will be sentenced in January. His father and brother will have a trial date. for next month. The former head of the Geneva American Legion was in court after fleeing his embezzlement trial. Dale Mosier charged with embezzling almost $100,000 from the post, but also for mailing threatening letters to family members and trial witnesses while away. Ontario County interim DA Kelly Woffer told 13 Wammats it was an all-out effort to locate him. So I know for three straight weeks, very few police officers that work for the sheriff's office and their warrant squad got any sleep as they were looking for Mr. Moser. So to have him back in our county and have him face justice.

Board President Camille Simmons says they're looking at new payroll options, but they're committed to fixing the problem with the current one that's causing the problem. You'd have to have a transition period as well, so we have to... continue to work through these issues and try to expedite that. The union is currently suing the district over the issue, claiming it's a violation of their collective bargaining agreement. New Orleans on what caused the pneumonia leak of the Webster Ice Arena last night. That leak forced an evacuation, but police say there were no injuries. Nearby roads were shut down around 8 o'clock last night, but half cents reopened. One of the two make that one of the four people charged with being part of a Rochester drug ring will be sentenced today. Carrie Fisher faces charges of criminal possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and intent to sell. She was taken into custody in a series of SWATRA raids in April that netted over five kilograms of cocaine, 10 grams of fentanyl, $173,000, and other items police say were tied to a trafficking organization. 42-year-old Christopher Major, 36-year-old Stephanie Carter, and 42-year-old Chaz Davis were also arrested in the same raids, which at the time police had marked a significant disruption of narcotics distribution in our community. The New York Power Authority is reportedly taking the next steps towards putting a new nuclear power plant in upstate New York. Axios reports the agency is set to formally ask communities to express their interest in hosting a plant. State officials will be looking for locations that have water access, space, and community support.
