A firefighter is heard after a Genesee County fire broke out around dinnertime last night at a home on Pike Road in Batavia. A house sitter was able to escape safely. The firefighter treated at the scene and released. Investigators believe a woodburning stove may have sparked the fire. A woman convicted in a brutal stabbing at Duran Eastman Park sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. 41-year-old Shannon Reinholz was found guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of 67-year-old James Wooden back in July 2022. Reinholtz's coached. defendant Kristen Krueger admitted to stabbing wooden twice in pleaded guilty to manslaughter. She's serving a 10-year prison term.

A 53-year-old Rochester man has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison after being convicted in the murder of Byron Fair a year and a half ago. Fair was fatally stabbed at the Pinnacle Place apartments on South Clinton Avenue in Rochester, and he died later at the hospital. Police learned Fair had been stabbed by Mark Burdick after the two argued while sitting in a car. They located Burdick the following night. He was arrested on a second-degree murder charge. Bud Lowell. News Radio, Wham 1180. A man arrested for drunk driving in Brighton is pleaded guilty to being in the U.S. illegally again. Federal prosecutors say 30-year-old Jose Arazzo Lopez, a Honduran national, was stopped by Brighton police in late September. In federal court, he admitted to re-entering the country after he was deported in July 2019. A convicted bank robber arrested for making threats against the Christmas market and Granger Homestead Dance in Canadaagua now faces federal charges. 56-year-old Michael Kites of Kenandega was charged with interstate transmission of threats. A complaint in federal court says the museum received emails at first offering a donation, but then shifting tones saying... death to Jews and threatening to bring death and destruction to the homestead's dance and market on December 5th. Ken and Agua police arrested kites on an unrelated matter, and in the process, they say they found his email address, matched the one that sent the threats. The fed say the museum lost approximately $10,000 in expenses when the dance was canceled. Dave Debo News Radio Wham 1180. The federal justice department could seek a second indictment of state attorney general physician James. According to a report from Politico, a federal judge tossed... the original mortgage fraud indictment against James last week, saying the prosecutor in the case was illegally appointed. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi had vowed to appeal that dismissal, but that hasn't happened yet. James allegedly lied on some documents to get a preferred rate by claiming a home she was buying in Virginia was going to be her primary residence. The U.S. and Russia held a new round of talks to end the war of Ukraine as Russia's president is accusing Europe of meddling in the peace process. CBS's Holly Williams is in Ukraine. The US negotiating team got a tour of Moscow and a meeting with Vladimir Putin, but as far as we know, not the peace deal they want. Before he even met the Americans, Vladimir Putin launched a verbal attack on Europe, accusing its leaders of blocking the US from brokering an end to the conflict in Ukraine. If Europe wants a war with us, we're ready right away, he said. The Trump administration has halted the process of all immigration applications filed by people from 19 countries, as well as their planned citizen ceremonies. It's the latest attempt to limit pathways to legal immigration following the shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C. last week. The man accused in the shooting is an Afghan evacuee who entered the U.S. in September 2021 under the Biden administration and was granted asylum in April 2025 after President Trump returned to the White House. Lawmakers say they'll hold a hearing this week to try to get some answers about the U.S. military launching a second strike on a boat of alleged drug smugglers in the Caribbean. As ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, Washington Congressman Adam Smith says he'll be at a meeting this week with Admiral Frank Bradley. The man the Trump administration says ordered a second strike on an alleged drug smuggler. boat. To get direct information from him on how this played out. The Washington Post reports that second strike killed two survivors. Smith says regardless of who gave the order. The law of war is you cannot kill people who are no longer a threat to you. Costco is suing the Trump administration demanding a refund on tariffs. It's already paid. Costco is not the only company to file legal challenges against the president's use of tariffs. Costco has not revealed how much import duties have cost its business, but importers have paid nearly $90 billion under the law that Mr. Trump used to implement the policy. We're getting some economic numbers today, including the monthly check of U.S. private sector employment from paycheck processor ADP. Bloomberg surveyed economists think we'll hear that only 5,000 more jobs are added to businesses in November. Then we're lost. We'll also be getting the reading of U.S. industrial production from the Federal Reserve, but because the delays due to the government shutdown, this reading is from September. Economists think we will see a flat reading. Macy's is releasing its latest quarterly results as a company has been working on a makeover, including renovating 125 of its department stores while also expanding product offerings, especially in women's apparel, in an effort to turn around three years of declining sales. The news comes as most brick-and-mortar retailers have so far delivered stronger than expected quarterly earnings heading into the holiday season. Analysts expect Macy's to report quarterly revenue that's down from the same period last year. Shares in the department's or giant fell a half percent on Tuesday. A Kremlin spokesperson says Russia-U.S. talks on the Ukraine peace deal have ended without a breakthrough. Negotiings went on for five hours yesterday between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his aides and the U.S. team of special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump advisor Jared Kushner. The U.S. team has not yet commented on the talks, which are aimed at ending the three-and-a-half-year war between Russia and Ukraine. Lawmakers will receive a classified briefing on the Trump administration strikes on Venezuelan boats. According to the Hill, Navy Admiral Frank Mitch Bradley will provide information on the controversial strikes during a briefing with senior members of the Senate and House Armed Services Committee scheduled for tomorrow. Bradley was authorized by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to order a follow-up strike September 2nd against survivors on a targeted boat, and he was headed the Joint Special Operations Command at the time of that strike.

State attorneys general from all 50 states have announced a settlement with Google in a lawsuit over Play Store misconduct. The lawsuit accused Google of monopolizing app distribution and in-app payment processing for Android phones. The settlement will see Google pay $630 million in restitution to consumers who were harmed by Google's anti-competitive practices when they made purchases on the Play Store between August of 2016 and September of 2023. Automatic payments to eligible consumers will be made through PayPal or Venmo. The settlement also calls on Google to reform its business practices. I'm Tammy Trujillo. The blaze broke out around dinner time last night at home on Pike Road in Batavia. The house sitter managed to escape without harm. The firefighter treated at the scene and released. Investigators say a wood burning stove may have sparked the fire. A woman convicted in a brutal stabbing at Rand Eastman Park sent it to 25 years to life in prison. 41-year-old Shannon Reinholds was convicted of stabbing 67-year-old James Wooden to death in the park in July of 2022. He was found. with over 40 stab wounds in the lot off Zoo Road and Lakeshore Boulevard, and the crime scene was roughly a mile long. Co-defendant Kristen Kruger pleaded guilty to manslaughter, stabbing him twice, and was sentenced to 10 years in jail already. Reinholz had her sentencing delayed and reviewed under the State Domestic Violence Survivor Justice Act.

He'll serve 18 years to life in prison. 56-year-old Mark Burdick of Clifton Springs filed guilty of second-degree murder last July. Prosecutors say Burdick knifed his acquaintance, 53-year-old Myron Fair to death inside a car on South Clinton Avenue near Pinnacle Place in April of last year. Police say the two got into an argument prior to the stabbing. Brighton Police say a drunk driving stop led to a bigger discovery. The driver, 30-year-old Jose Arazo Lopez, turned out to be in the U.S. illegally and not for the first time. Federal prosecutors say the Undurna native admitted in court that he came back after being deported back in 2019. We now know the name of the woman killed in a wrong way crash on Thanksgiving morning. State police say it was 34-year-old Paulette Dean of Rochester, who was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Route 104 near St. Paul Street near the underpass. there when her car collided head on with another vehicle. She later died at the hospital. The other drivers survived and is still recovering. Another step forward in the revitalization of the former vacuum oil company refinery. The state DEC announced an order of consent with Exxon Oil Company to investigate contamination on the site and also reimburse the state a quarter of a million dollars for its costs. The city of Rochester dropped its suit against Exxon in October. Exxon agreed to submit the property and its old warehouse building to the state's Brownfield cleanup program. The city looking to convert the property into a playground in green space and also replace the nearby Genesee River Wall. News Radio Waym 1180 time now 735. State officials launching a new tool designed to cut down an elder fraud.
