Tury selection scheduled to get underway today for the trial of a former Marcy Correctional Officer in the beating death of an area inmate. Michael Fisher is facing manslaughter charges in the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks in December of 2024. Fisher is one of the four corrections officers who did not accept a plea deal in Brooks' death. The other three were David Kingsley, Nicholas Kiefer, and Matthew Gallowher. Kingsley was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Kiefer and Galaher were acquitted of murder charges. Fisher faces 15 years in prison if found guilty. Dave Smith, News Radio, WAM, 1180. There's no word on the charges for two people detained after a standoff on Rochester's west side. Police were called out to a home on Jay Street near Reast Street yesterday afternoon on the report of a man threatening a woman with a gun. No one was hurt. Nearby roads were closed for several hours during the sandoff. No injuries were reported in a penfield fire. Broke out at a home early yesterday morning on Chewcraft Road. No one was home at the time. Cruz had the Blaze under control in about 20 minutes and no word yet on a cause. Rochester Police have not said whether three violent weekend incidents are connected. All three happened within less than four hours of each other at the city's northeast side. A 20-year-old Rochester man was shot at the leg on Derringer Place. No update in his condition. And two men in their 30s were slashed their home on Wild Street, a 28-year-old city woman stabbed in the upper body on Darnan Street. All three stabbing victims are expected to recover, and there are no arrests. ICE says they arrested an Afghan man in Rochester. Agency officials say Walid al-Mohamed was detained in a targeted operation on New Year's Day. The final removal order is expected to take place for Mohammed, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted homicide and felony assault from a conviction. in 2008. Crews were kept busy in a pair of pile-ups last night involving 13 cars. True per se, eight cars were involved in a crash on Route 104 near Hudson Avenue. Nobody was hurt. Meanwhile, five cars were caught up in a chain reaction crash on Culver Road near Atlantic Avenue. One person was taking a Highland hospital with upper body pain. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell says to Justice Department has issued a subpoena to the Central Bank, warning of a possible criminal indictment. On Friday, the Department of Justice served the Federal Reserve with grand jury subpoenas, threatening a criminal indictment. related to my testimony before the Senate Banking Committee last June. The testimony concerns renovations to Federal Reserve Office buildings. Jerome Powell characterized the subpoenas as the latest attempt to influence the Fed in interest rate decisions. President Trump has repeatedly criticized Jerome Powell for the Fed not cutting interest rates as much and as quickly as the President has wanted since he began his second term.

President Trump telly reporters, he's looking at taking very strong options against Iran. CBS News White House reporter Willie James Inman has the details. The president is weighing his options in terms of a potential strike against Iran. Now, this is in large part because of the widespread protests that we've seen play out in Iran over the past couple of weeks. Activists estimate more than 500 people have died because of the protests with more than 10,000 arrested. The U.S. government has shut down Internet access in that country. meantime, the U.S. has conducted large-scale strikes against multiple ISIS targets in Syria. U.S. Central Command said Saturday that over 20 aircraft fired munitions in about 35 locations in Syria, and the aircraft included Jordanian F-16s. Central Command said the strikes were part of Operation Hawkeye Strike and were in retaliation for the ISIS attack on U.S. in Syria last month. A woman accused of murdering her sister has another court date this morning. 53-year-old, make that 54-year-old Jamie Bush faces second-degree murder and evidence tampering. The authorities say she strangled Petty Bush to death in October of last year. Then she allegedly dumped her body into the Genesee River and Rush and tossed her cell phone into a dumpster. Jamie Bush goes on trial next month after she was found fit to stand trial last month. The State Office of Children and Family Services is being taken to court over solitary confinement conditions in its use detention centers, including the industry residential center in rush. The lawsuit was brought in part by the Legal Aid Society, and it alleges young people are routinely locked up alone in tiny cells around the clock, sometimes for weeks, without access to toilets, classes, recreation, or human contacts. The children use buckets or... trash cans for toilets. A state attorney at Legal Aid tells New York Focus, if parents did what the state facilities are doing to children, the state would remove the children from their care. ExxonMobil executive Darren Wood said following that meeting that currently Venezuela is quote, uninvestable. President Trump says Greenland should make a deal to be taken over by the United States because China and Russia will make a move otherwise. Greenland should make the deal because Greenland does not want to see Russia or China take over. They don't go there. It's very far away from Greenland.
