Plans are underway for another round of peace talks between the United States and Iran. Fox's Trey Yinkst is in Tel Aviv with more. We've been talking with U.S. officials. They say the Trump administration is not going to make the same mistakes that previous administrations made. They're not going to let the Iranians drag out these talks indefinitely. If the president does send another team back to Islamabad or a different location in the region, it would be to get a deal done or ultimately look at other options. We do understand there are conversations taking place about scheduling the second round of talks. But after the Iranians have had a few days to go back to Tehran and speak with top officials, the expectation. is they would be able to come back to the negotiating table with a serious set of conditions and the consultations that would allow them to make a final decision and create some sort of good faith agreement with the United States.

President Trump broke the previous nuclear agreement with Iran back in 2016, although his advisors at the time said Iran was in compliance with the terms. Back in our area, a shooting at Iraniquet last week, turning deadly. Police say 50-year-old William Lundy of Rochester was shot in the arm last Thursday night during a large fight at St. Paul Boulevard in 2nd Street. He died last night at Strong Hospital. 26-year-old Armand Benfield was originally charged with first-degree assault in the shooting. That charge is expected. to be upgraded. Dominic Chicorelli News Radio, WAM 1180. A motorcycle crash on Rochester Southwest Side sent a man to the hospital. Police say a car hit the cycle shortly after nine last night at Reynolds and Bartlett Streets. The rider was taken to strong hospital. He had serious injuries, but he is expected to survive. Investigators still trying to pinpoint the cause of an explosion that destroyed a Rochester home. It happened shortly in the late afternoon. Hit Lake Avenue in Augustine Street in the Maplewood neighborhood. RFD, Lieutenant Howard Villegas says firefighters arrived quickly only to mainly find rubble. Actually, it was surprisingly. little fire. The structural members that were on fire were leaning up against the house, which is what led to eventually a third alarm being called. But everyone is safe. The house has now been torn down. A Rochester man, guilty in a double murder on the city's north side, is set to be sentenced today. 25-year-old Jermaine Williams was convicted of two counts each of first and second-degree murder last month. Prosecutors say he gunned down 43-year-old Timothy Chile of Rochester and 46-year-old Chetina Jay Jones of Buffalo on the porch of a home on Rialto Street in May of 2024. News Radio Wham 1180 time, now 712. One of the sticking points in the ongoing state budget negotiations involves Governor Kathy Hochul's proposed changes to the car insurance laws. Kathy Hochul believes her plan will hold down premiums. She wants to change the definition of serious injury. to reduce fraudulent lawsuits, and she wants to put a limit on awards to victims who are uninsured or who committed a felony related to the accident. The proposals aren't sitting well with trial lawyers and democratic lawmakers. State Assemblywoman Jen Lunsford says some victims with legitimate claims could lose out too, but the Hokel administration refutes that. Todd Haldane, News Radio Wham 1180. Police across the state cracking down on impaired drivers. Jesse Mitchell, CBS News. The Justice Department has asked a federal appeals court to throw out the seditious conspiracy convictions of members of the far-right groups, proud boys, and oathkeepers. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says President Trump's tariffs could be restored by July. President Trump is once again claiming the war with Iran is close to over as the U.S. Navy continues to block Iranian ship traffic out of the Strait of Hormuz. Fox's Trey Yinks is in Tel Aviv with the details. The president's comments come as U.S. Central Command continues to block Iranian ports with more than a dozen support vessels. Sentcom commander Admiral Brad Cooper saying, quote, an estimated 90% of Iran's economy is fueled by international trade by sea. In less than 36 hours since the blockade was implemented. U.S. forces have completely halted economic trade going into and out of Iran by sea. The Iranians are now responding to the blockade. There is now a problem in the Persian Gulf and the world has been thrown into turmoil. This has had an impact across the world. People are dissatisfied and have raised their voices. Iranian president, Massoud Pazeshkin. Thousands of additional soldiers are arriving in the Middle East this week, as President Trump says he wants options if diplomatic talks fail. House Democrats are eyeing the 25th Amendment to try and remove President Trump from office. constitutional amendment allows for a transfer of power if the president's unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. On Tuesday, Democrats introduced a bill that would create a commission to assess whether or not Trump is fit to remain in office. The bill is sponsored by Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland and backed by dozens of other Democrats. The House approving new aviation safety legislation aimed at preventing a repeat of last year's deadly crash over Washington, D.C. The bipartisan measure would require pilots in congested airspace to use updated collision avoid this technology. It also mandates redesigned helicopter routes near major airports and updated air traffic control procedures and training. The bill was drafted in response to the January 2025 collision near Reagan National Airport that killed all 67 people on board both an Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines jet.
