30. Breaking news when it happens any time. Another hour with Bob Lonsbury starts now on news radio, Wham, 1180. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Good morning, my friend. Thank you so much for tuning in. Flat out, beautiful day for a radio program. There is no doubt about that. I told the story last night. I fill in for an hour at 9 o'clock, took over from Shannon Joy when she crapped out on that show some year two or three or four ago. I can't remember. Speaking of whom? Shannon Joy, Shannon Joy Bone, I think is her real name, is the lieutenant governor running mate with Larry Sharp. Larry Sharp is a nice guy. It has been over the years, as he's been the libertarian gubernatorial candidate, I've always enjoyed every chance I've had to meet him or whatever, and there have been plenty of those. And he's been on the show many times. Of course, he'll come on and with Larry Sharp and me, again, I personally like him a lot. And he will come on and he'll say things. And I'll be like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Larry, you're making sense. And then you'll always like slip in one little thing that leaves you going, what? What the what? Like one time we were having a conversation and Larry was just making, he was on the air. He was making so much sense. And I was thinking, man, almost you persuade me to be a libertarian. And then he said, and school has got to stop being mandatory. You know what I'm saying? People don't want to go to school. They shouldn't have to go to school. And I'm like, oh, Larry, oh, Larry. At any rate, he has chosen Shannon Joy to be his running mate, which would be one of those, oh, Larry, oh, Larry things. Anyway, um... I'm sure that will make eight voters happy. I told the story, yeah, but the point is that at 9 o'clock, if you ever have a chance, I fill in, I do an hour in the evening, and it is even duller than this broadcast. Hard to imagine, and just barely scientifically possible, but we pull it off. You're welcome. And last night I told this story, but there was a time. I would have been like 10 or 11 years old and would have been right after my stepfather Carl died out in California. We moved back to Cana Steele. My mother bought a trailer with his life insurance. We're out on Willow Ben Road, the other side of the Silver Bridge, which everybody down there knows, though it is gone now, the Silver Bridge was actually green. Why it was called Silver? I don't know. But if you called it anything other than the Silver Bridge, we knew you were a freak job and not from around there.

2:54

Probably one of those damn insurgents from Hornell or something like that. Anyway, here's the point. So we're living out there in the trailer. And I'm like 10 or 11, I have three younger siblings. My mother, you know, life was pretty tough for her. She's 29, widow, four kids, mental illness challenges. But so I'm living out there in the country. And in our family, like my uncles and cousins and such, at each one of my cousins, we're very much outdoors people. I had this Uncle Al, and he was a hunter, and everything was about hunting, and he'd be telling hunting stories, and this, that, and the other, and was fascinating. And his son, my cousin Lee, and I, we really got into that. Lee was one year younger than I was. And, yes, I named my oldest child after my cousin Lee. But what would happen is I would somehow get a hold of like an outdoor life magazine and he would get a hold of say maybe a field and stream magazine. He lived up by Rome, New York. And we would read our magazines over and over every article, every picture, and we'd wear them out. Right. And there'd be the ads in the back about how you could, you know, learn taxidermy at home, how you could raise rabbits for fun and profit, how to buy little chicks of exotic pheasants that you could raise. And anyway, and every article we'd read. And every ad we'd look at and study, just little kids fired up. And then when we'd go visiting, I'd give him my worn-out magazines, and he'd give me his worn-out magazines, and we'd start the whole process over. Anyway, we were outdoorsmen, and outdoorsmen have to have guns. Outdoorsmen have to have guns. So one day... With $10, a vast sum, which I had gotten for a birthday, I walked into town from out on Willow Bend Road, and I went to the home builders, I think was the name of the hardware store in Cana Steel. And I think I told the story not so long ago, I tried to buy a BB gun. The gentleman asked, did your mom say it was okay? And I lied and said, yes. And he called my mother and turned out that I was sent walking back out of town with my $10, but not with a BB gun.

5:31

Anyway, we don't need to know that story. All that's background for the fact that eventually a couple weeks later on, my mother wrote me a note saying, please sell Robbie a BB gun. And I carried it down into town with my $10 bill, and I bought a Daisy Red Rider BB gun, which, man, I tell you what, I was shooting everything there was out there. And I go down to the countryland to mow and stuff like that, cut brush. I've got BB guns down there. Regular guns, too, but it's not on... Most Saturdays, I'm going to spend at least five or ten minutes walking around with a BB gun, a Daisy Red Rider, just thwalking whatever I want to thwock, okay? Don't tell your animal rights people, but I'm hell on grasshoppers. Well, I'll shoot the grasshopper, and then I'll take it and throw it in for the fish to eat. I'm a provider that way. Anyway, this is all background for this. Your friends, the Democrats, up there in Albany, trying to think of new ways to screw you, especially your freedoms. The Democrats in Albany have decided that BB guns, to include the Daisy Red Rider, that these are actually, quote, imitation weapons, close quote. And their use and ownership must be regulated, right? This legislation passed, if it passes, by the way, it's sponsored by a state senator out of Syracuse, to purchase and lawfully possess a BB gun in the state of New York. You'll not have to be 18. Further, BB guns, because they are imitation weapons, will need to be one of two things. They will either need to be transparent, like made out of clear plastic, or they will need to be blaze orange, the whole thing, some bright color. Maybe pink for girls who you want to offend by thinking that they would like a pink gun. And here's a deal. This will probably be the law or probably pass. Okay? Here's what it will mean. The Daisy BB gun company is not going to make a special BB gun out of clear plastic or blaze orange or bright pink just for sale in the state of New York. No business with any product can specifically make a product for a given state. It just doesn't work. And so you create a situation where BB guns will not be sold in the state of New York. I guess maybe thank God Crossman is already gone. We'd be breaking their hearts down there. But the oppression of individual liberty, the disrespect of the Second Amendment will begin so early in life in the state of New York. that we will say to our children playing with BB guns, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And again, they always find every way they can to keep you away from a firearm. A BB gun is not a firearm. But when you make this requirement transparent or brightly colored, there won't be BB guns sold in New York anymore.

9:02

And that's kind of what they're after. I bet you dollars to donuts. Because as the sad story recounted earlier illustrates, when little moron kids down in can of steel get BB guns as boys, they tend to want to own real guns as men. And if you can just rip out that impulse to freedom and independence in their childhood, Oh, they'll be so much easier to contain in their adulthood. No doubt about that. Take a break. 222180 is our number. This is News Radio, Wham 1180. There's a lot of talk about this. An endless war. American boots on the ground. Crashing the economy. Until even when it happens, it's just all talk. No action. It happens here. News Radio. Wham 1180. Hey, Franz Lonsbury here. Talk with Jason, the general manager of Jay. I wanted to tell you. I have right here in front of me my Daisy Red Rider 70th anniversary BB Gun, which I use almost every day because we have so many squirrels and chipmunks and woodchucks on our property. I'm not a real good shot, but I do scare them anyhow. And I love it. I just love it. Yeah. Outstanding. God bless you, dear Mary. Now, how long have you had that? That's a seventh anniversary. Is that fairly new or what? I think I've had it maybe five years or so. I picked it up at a garage sale. Nice. And I thought... I thought because we've always had issues with wood chucks. And I said to my husband, you know, I'm going to try and see if I can just scare them away. And so I just picked it up at a garage sale. And I got it sitting here next to the fireplace, always ready. That's the very best, Mary. That is the very best. You're my kind of girl. God bless you and your dear husband. Tony, good morning. Welcome to News Radio Wham 1180. Hello, Tony? Yes, Bob. How are you? I didn't realize you were talking to me. I thoroughly enjoy your show. I admire you so much. And talking about the BB guns, my buddy, Neil and I, I don't know if I told you this before. We would take our BB, our rifles, our Daisy BB rifles. Right. And go over to the swamp down in the Rhine Equating, shoot at the cat tails. And his younger brother would always want to come along and we'd shoe him away. Neil and his brother moved to California, and their last name was Jardine. The young kid that we should live by a beach? Yeah, I'm sorry, go ahead. Yeah, Alan Jardine. And became a beach boy. He was in the Beach Boys. Yeah. Well, here's a thing, Tony. If only you've been kinder to him, you might have got some free tickets every now and again because they used to come to the state fair every year. Mark, glad you phoned. Welcome to News Radio Wham 1180. Is that me? Yes, sir. Yes, Bob.

12:09

My grandson's turning 11, so I wanted to get him a BB gun because you've got to be 10 years old or older. So I went on Amazon, and there was a list of them there. So there was a BB gun for $61. A red rider, so I was going to buy that one, and it said, cannot be sold to the state of New York. So I scrolled down, and there was a smaller one for children, I guess. It looked the same to me, and I was able to buy that one for $51. That will be coming Sunday. And about the new law, that's what got me started because, you know, it's fun to shoot at cans in the yard with the BB gun. They say they're good for 30 feet. So that's a good thing to get them off the phone or tablet or be outside. Absolutely. Splendid. But... You know, when I was enrolled in the YMCA, we learned on 22s. Yeah, down in the basement. 100% Mark, your good grandfather. I think you can also pick those up at tractor supply. I'm sure other places, but tractor supply is where I think they have them. Spencer, good morning. Welcome to News Radio Wham 1180. Hey, Bob, I just wanted to tell you, we've got a Daisy that's been through the hands of four generations of my family. And we love it, but it's kind of hard to get BBs now with the Knicks check. Have a good day, Bob. Well, you don't have to do that for BBs, do you? Is he messing with me? I hope he's messing with me. And also the other guy, the grandfather there, the good grandfather, saying, you know, after 10, you can get a BB gun. That might be a family rule. That's not some, that's not the law, is it? Right? Because here's a deal. I hate to come off like a psycho, but if you're not a kindergartner shooting the BB gun under direct supervision with mom and dad on the weekend, you're missing out, right? And I hate to say this, but like... In our family, by the time you're 10, you've got a 22 rifle for a couple, three, four years already. You'm saying? Underappropriate supervision, I think this is perfectly fine. It is time to stop because we got news coming up with Dave Debo on News Radio Wham 1180. What the hell is happening? That is for a ring. There's something happening. The blockade. blackmailing of the world. We have not reached the agreement. Stop needs to stop. All the happenings. It'll be right here. Has to then. Use radio. Wham. 1180. The 2026 World Win Rochester Music Hall of Fame induction concert and ceremony is coming to Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theater Sunday, April 26. I think that... I think he likes this fight with Donald Trump, and I think the Pope believes that it helps him. But here's what the Pope put up at about quarter to nine, our time, two hours ago now. It says here three hours ago almost, woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. At any rate, I guess. So, anyway, that's what I think. So here's a, yeah, I'm going to write a column. I bought dinner time tonight. I want to sit down. And I've been stewing on, to be honest with you. a quote from Pope Leo is something that he delivered in all his regalia as part of his Palm Sunday homily or whatever they call it where he said Jesus does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war but rejects them. This is the most asinine thing that any supposed Christian could say. It is just completely inconsistent with the Bible. It's inconsistent with Catholic teaching. It's just astounding. And, you know, and I'll leave that alone. So anyway, thank you. I'll vent my spleen and write a column about that. I don't want to be negative towards the Pope. I know a lot of people, you know, see him as a spiritual leader. I was raised in the Protestant tradition where, you know, we don't go in for all that. And I think that, honestly, some prick from Chicago screwing to politics, which is his right, of course. This claim that what he says is the gospel is simply demonstrably false, right? I mean, you're like, this is the Bible, okay? And this is Pope Leo, and we got a disagreement here. So I'll move on, I'll move on real quick. Last night, Berkeley, Breen, had a story. Actually, it was a story that was done by a customer Monday going through the drive-thru at Burger King at Mount Reed and Maiden Lane. This is very interesting because not many people go through Burger King drive-thrus. I would be interested in seeing sales numbers for Burger King as contrasted with McDonald's in our region. It is amazing how...

17:45

Popular McDonald's is as evidenced by people at the drive-thru and how unpopular Burger King is by evidence of nobody's ever in their drive-thru. Right. In fact, there's a... Oh my gosh, it's on, I live here a gazillion years. I confuse the Henrietta roads. They both go south. I can get on either one. I can get home on either one. But there's one of them. Lehigh station, you get off there and you go over there, and there's McDonald's on one side of the road, and there's a Burger King on the other. And sometimes they'll get in my head, man, I want to stop. I want to get a smoothie from a... McDonald's on the way home. Really good smoothies there. And I'll, you know, get off 390, make the turn, be the there and go. And there'll be this long friggin line. Everybody wants to go to McDonald's. And I'll go, crap, can't get a smoothie. And then, okay, well, there's Burger King across the road. Maybe I can satisfy myself with a junior whopper. And you go over there, and I'll get something at Burger King. And I'll sit there in a drive-thru, be the only customer, and I'll look over, and there'll be 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 cars at McDonald's. And you just say, what's the difference? What? McDonald's is doing something right. Burger King is doing something wrong. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, there's a guy in drive through at Burger King on Monday night at Mount Reed Main Lane. And as the gentleman is waiting for his food or whatever, he sees a young man, a gentleman seems to be an employee of the Burger King, walk out of the back of the restaurant, and he's got like a large metal container, a grease container, and he walks over to a... a storm drain like a little sewer thick cover thing and he dumps the grease into the storm drain right the guy who's waiting in line for his food goes holy crap you can't do that and he takes a picture thankfully um and he contacts dec he goes back later and uh first of all the the pavement near the storm drain is all stained with the grease and the oil you know they've been doing this So he takes a, this customer takes a, you know, a paper towel, something like that, lays it in liquid there, lifts it up. And it's all orange. You can see this is friar grease. And at any rate, he goes to Berkeley Green and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He also went to the DEC. Well, the guy who's dumping the stuff in the drain, he gets a ticket from the DEC. And the people who own the Burger King, they say, oh, well, this is contrary, and we talk to our team, and, well, yes, we don't do this. And there's a part of me that just says, yeah, well, how did that guy get the idea to do that? Who told him to do that?

20:41

Because it isn't typically how it is in food service that you say that because you sell that. Somebody comes and buys that, right? They're the rendering people. And repurposed grease from restaurants gets used all the time. But here's the thing. Somebody told that guy to dump that out there. It's not like, hi, I'm Jim, I work at Burger King, I have this grease here. They probably have a procedure on what, they clearly have a procedure on what to do with it. Nobody, I mean, and nobody goes, hey, why don't I just, instead of staying here in the building and doing the way I'm supposed to with my boss supervising me, why don't I walk out of the restaurant, walk across the parking lot, and pour it in a store, it doesn't make any sense. So at any rate, I feel bad that the guy who is the employee ends up with the ticket from the DEC. And now I'm hungry for Burger King. Actually, not to be part of the whole thing, but I'm hungry for one of those new arches from McDonald's. Okay, I'll get to Burger King someday like everybody else. It is time for listeners on the loose. 2-2-1180 is the number you call up, you sound off. We have fun. I hope on News Radio Wham 1180. Spring weather. It changes its mind more than a squirrel. Trying to cross the road.

22:07

Stay ahead of spring storms. Oh, he'll be fine. Use radio. Wham, 1180. This summer, imagine less screen time and more splash time. On News Radio, Wham 1180. Here we go. Hello, you're on news radio, Wham 1180. Hi, Bob. This is Wade. How are you doing today? I'm quite well, thank you, sir. Good. I'm glad to hear it. I'm a little bit late in my comment, but I was just remember in Merrill Haggard. He was born April 6, 1937, and he died in April 6, 2016, I believe. And he just left something so great behind him. That's 15 seconds. Sorry, brother. Hello, you're on news radio. Wham 1180. Yeah, Bob. Yeah. I just read that the Iranians say it's going to take at least six months to decide on the size and shape of the peace table before they sit down to negotiate. I think I've heard that before. That is Iran, and this is, I mean, other countries will sometimes do this. Iran does that. They always play the negotiation game. Drag it out, drag it out, drag it out, drag it out. You might notice that a piece of crap Vladimir Putin does the same thing. Hello? You're on news radio, Wham 1180. Just to add your column, there is a wall around Vatican City, so I guess walls aren't really that immoral. Hmm, interesting. I had not heard that observation in the last 25 minutes. Hello, you're on news radio, Wham 1180. Yeah, Bob, tomorrow my BB comes, my BB gun comes. It's a rifle and a pistol, and Bob, it's full automatic. Unbelievable. Incredible, incredible. Here's an interesting thing. Uh, technically a BB gun is not a rifle, even if it's long, uh, because a rifle makes reference to rifle grooves in the barrel of the, uh, uh, implement. And, uh, I don't think that, uh, a BB gun with the little round BB does that. Pellet has grooves in the pellet. Thank you for letting me share that. I feel like a real man now. Hello? You're on news radio where I'm 1180. Bob, Donald Trump here. Mr. President. Jesus loves me. Probably, probably the most. I know this because the Bible tells me so. Jesus loves the little children, all the little children of the world. True that. Hello, you're on News Radio Wham 1180. All your Zionists can do is kill civilians. They fail against real men. Oh. Okay. We seem to be honest with you. They seem to do really well with those goat screwing guys over there. You know what I'm saying? Like the ones with the tablecloth on their head? I think the IDF does really, really well against those guys. Hello? You're on News Radio Wham 1180. stuck a douchebag, light douchebeys stuck on Bob. Or is it stuck in? I don't know. Not knowledgeable about all of your D-bag vocabulary. Hello, you're on News Radio Wham 1180. Hey, Bob? Yeah. Hey, it's Jethro, man. Hope none of those storms at your house around there.

25:26

We're good. It rains sometimes. We have a roof, windows. Everything's okay. President Trump just announcing that starting at 5 o'clock Eastern tonight, the new Greenwich meantime of the planet under Trump, by the way, 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Now, here's the thing. Israel and Lebanon aren't firing at each other. Israel and Hezbollah are firing each other. Lebanon, no doubt, good people. Can they control Hezbollah? I'm not exactly sure who's the daddy in that situation. Hello? You're on news radio. Wham 1180? Yeah, Bob, the day after tax date, we need a tax revolution in this state because what's happening in New York City is coming this way. Absolutely. Crap rolls downhill. And the crap that this ma'am Danny and his pokey pal partner there, little Kathy Hochul, is absolutely coming our way. Another two, three, four, five years. And we'll be living in that same socialist swamp. That is almost undeniable. Hello, you're on news radio, Wham 1180. Hi. I actually work for Burger King, and I have worked at the Mount Reed location, and I personally have never seen that happen. Yeah. But that's kind of crazy. Yeah, 100%. Thank you for taking care of us. Thanks for feeding us. God bless you, man. Food service is a wonderful field. Time to go. God bless you. Keep your chin up. God bless the United States of America. News is next. Then you know, I'll be back here tomorrow morning, 8 till noon, round out the week on News Radio Wham 1180. We will see gas with a three in front of it. Over there. The countries are going to hell. Everywhere. We love you from the moon. It's your world. This is your station. Want, indeed. Use radio. Wham, 1180.
