Four men accused of kidnapping a mother and two of her children and parents in earlier this month have now had the charges against them dropped. Attorney David Stern says one of the accused Omar Saleh is actually the young children's legal guardian. He, his brother Amar Saleh and the two other men were accused of trying to send the children to Yemen because of a custody dispute. Stern says his client Amar Saleh was retrieving his brother and sister from an unlawful placement by child protective services and that the children and their mother went with the men willingly. There's been no comment from the district attorney's office.

Bud Lowell News Radio, Wham 1180. The Rochester teen who killed another city teen in the 19th ward last year, scheduled for sentencing this morning. Police say 17-year-old Keon Warren gunned down 16-year-old Ajan Wright last October on Warwick Avenue near Kirkland Road. Investigators didn't disclose what led up to the shooting, but they say Wright did not live in that neighborhood. Warren pleaded guilty to secondary murder and a gun crime earlier this year. Testimony has now begun at the trial of a man accused in a stabbing attack in Parenthood. 31-year-old Derek Van Aps of Palmyra has been charged with attempted murder as a hate crime and assault. He allegedly slashed Dillon Guyami Affairport repeatedly on the Indian Hill Park Trailhead back in June. The first deputy on the scene testified yesterday, along with several witnesses. More testimony is set for today, and Guyami himself is expected to take the stand at some point. One of the drivers in an eight-car pile-up in Batavia is now facing charges. Police say Christopher Parker blew through a red light at Maine and Oak Streets on March 23rd, starting a chain reaction. Parker's car then burst into flames. He was airlifted to strong hospital with life-threatening injuries but survived. Two other people were hospitalized. Parker is charged with assault in reckless endangerment. Anthony Panazowitz News Radio, Wham 1180. A court date today for a Rochester band in a shooting on the city's north side that left a... teen girl dead. Michael Garcia faces second degree murder along with attempted murder, assault, and gun crimes. Police say he shot at a 30-year-old man at a home on Alfon Street back in April of last year, and a stray bullet hit 17-year-old Danileese Pembon-Cubero in the head. She died days later while the man was seriously wounded but survived. Garcia was arrested after an hour's long standoff at a Brockport apartment. There's new light on the daring rescue in the Genesee River on Sunday. Someone went over High Falls and ended up on an island, and two Rochester firefighters were pulled into the water while trying to save that person. Union President Michael Murphy tells our Bob Lonsbury it was a heroic effort to pull them out. We focus on the victim until we become one of the victims. Our two members that were put in the water, it's as scary as they got. So I talked to both of them. They both said, I saw my life flash before me. It reportedly took crews up to seven minutes to get one of the firefighters out of the water, and he nearly drowned, but incredibly no injuries were reported. President Trump says he's willing to wait a few days to get the right answers from Iran, but continues to warn of renewed attacks if he doesn't like what they say. An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman says they are reviewing the latest views from the United States. The U.S. is putting economic pressure on Iran after six weeks of ceasefire. The military boarded, then released a vessel suspected of trying to break the blockade of Iranian ports. In Iran, the crackdown on dissent continues. The DOJ issues an indictment of former Cuban President Raul Castro over the 1996 downing of planes in the Caribbean. Fox's Kevin Cork has that. The Justice Department says the brother of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro is facing a host of charges, among them murder and conspiracy with acting Attorney General Todd Blanche giving this message. The first boosts state education funding by 2% while also tweaking the foundation aid formula and laying the groundwork for the pre-K mandate by the 2028-29 school year. It also extends the deadline for schools to switch to electric buses by five years, meaning school districts can continue buying buses with the combustion engine until 2032. The deadline to have an entire fleet of electric buses is now 2040.

The state's biggest... Business lobbying group is pressing lawmakers to kill the so-called packaging reduction in recycling infrastructure act. The Business Council says the latest version of the bill is still an expensive and unworkable program. Large companies would have to reduce their overall single-use packaging by 10% within three years and by 30% within 12. The bill also banned certain chemicals in product packaging and bigger companies would pay fines based on the volume of their packaging materials. Elsewhere, an American doctor who's tested positive for Ebola while working in the Democratic Republic of Congo is now receiving emergency care in Berlin. It's believed Dr. Peter Stafford contracted the virus while operating on an infected patient. Two days after the announcement of the outbreak was made, Peter began to have some of the nonspecific symptoms that are classic for Ebola chills. fever, muscle aches, fatigue. Dr. Scott Meyer of Surge, the missionary group Stanford was working with, says the doctor was evacuated a short time later. But investors have become harder to impress, even after NVIDIA's results beat estimates. If smaller packs of snacks are your go-to option, then you may be paying more soon. Sources tell Bloomberg that PepsiCo is gearing up to raise prices on some of its smaller packages of chips by 10 to 20 cents. Small bags often sold as two for a dollar are expected to go up, too. That according to an attorney for one of the men, Omar and Amar Saleh, along with Gamil Ahmed and Dejure Paul, were accused of planning to send the children to Yemen because of a custody dispute. The mother and children were found the same night at a home in Rochester, but the defense claims it was more of a rescue, and Amar Saleh believed his younger brother and sister were illegally taken by child protective services. The attorney also saying that Amar Saleh is the children's legal guardian. The district attorney's office. has not commented.

Testimony underway in the trial of a man accused in a vicious stamping in Parentin. 31-year-old Derek Van Epps of Palmyra faces attempted murder as a hate crime and assault after prosecutors say he repeatedly slashed Dylan Guayami on the Indian Hill Park Trail last June. Jurors heard yesterday from the first deputy on the scene and several witnesses. The trial continues to date, with Guy Ami expected to testify at some point. There's another case of alleged animal neglect in our area, this one in Sioux-N County. Deputy say 54-year-old Cherry King had 34 starving and mistreated dogs at her home in Cohocton. She's now charged with failure to provide sustenance, and the dogs have been removed, and are now being treated. Gun violence for the first four months of this year, trending down for New York small cities as well as the big ones. Governor Kathy Hochul's office has reported shooting incidents in cities from Amherst to Watertown dropped by 17% and the number of people shot dropped by 19% on average. Tehran has reportedly demanded control of the strait of her moves, lifting of sanctions, and withdrawal of U.S. troops, and has offered no resolution for its nuclear program. Cuban leader Roel Castro under indictment for allegedly orchestrating the killing of American citizens participating in humanitarian efforts back in the 1990s. Now that a Miami federal grand jury is charging elderly former Cuban dictator Raul Castro for masterminding the killing of four U.S. civilian pilots during the 1996 brothers to the rescue mission, Cuban Americans wonder if he'll ever be brought to the U.S. for trial, like ousted Venezuelan leader Nicholas Maduro. There's an arrest warrant issue for a reason because we certainly expect that. believe that Mr. Castro was entitled to his day in court right here in Miami. Parilla pasta putting $170 million into a two-phase expansion of its plant in Avon. CEO Matt Hurlbut of Greater Rochester Amper says the phase one is a new 52,000 square foot building that will house a new pasta production line and three packaging lines, which is a $145 million project in itself. We have a strength in food and beverage processing. Some of our other technologies are a little more well known, but the fact that a global brand like this is investing here is significant.
