News Radio WAM 1180. The probe continues into what is now Rochester's third homicide this year. RPD Captain Frank Obrino says family members reported 29-year-old Majesty Montgomery missing on May 7th. There was just things that we heard in this one, which made the hair on the back of our neck stand up a little bit, so we have to get on this one right away. Her body was later found buried in a rural property in Yates County. Investigators believe she was killed at a home on Austin Street in Rochester, then moved.
There are no arrests, and anyone with information is urged to contact police. No injuries reported in a major fire in Ontario County. It broke out yesterday afternoon at a home on Dewey Road in Manchester. The house was completely gutted, but everyone had signed it out safely. There's no word on the cause. A man on federal parole is in custody after a bank robbery and a chase on Tuesday. 30-year-old Nequan White is charged with first-degree robbery, accused of claiming he had a weapon and taking cash from the five-star bank headquarters. branch on Chestnut Street. License plate readers put police onto a suspect vehicle seen near the scene. Officers say he tried to get away, crashed near Remington Street, and ran but was quickly arrested. White was released from prison last month on a federal weapons conviction. Dave Debo News Radio Wham 1180. LaRoy police say they've identified the culprits who vandalized a cemetery on Senate. Officer Caden Van Gallio tells our Bob Lansbury. They smashed some headstones and threw around flowers, but he found them. I ended up finding a little foot trail from the cemetery over onto a neighboring street, over to a group of houses. Later that day, we were able to make contact with a couple of juveniles who ended up coming clean to their parents. He says the suspects are all teens, and they are arranging restitution. An Ontario County man convicted of assaulting a trooper faces three and a half to 15 years in prison when he's sentenced today. Prosecutors say Miles Martin injured the trooper during his drunk driving arrest on Christmas Eve 2024. Martin was found guilty last month of assaulting a police officer, DWI, driving without a license, criminal mischief, and criminal contempt. Marty Casper News Radio Wham, 1180. President Trump is downplaying Iranian airstrikes on Kuwait, a barrage that killed at least one civilian and wounded others. There's a reason for everything, and we hit them pretty hard. the night before and actually last night. The president says he considers to ceasefire with Iran to still be in place. It's a different part of the world. You know, I'd say that part of the world ceasefires when you're shooting in a more moderate manner. President Trump says he also believes Iran is moving closer to signing a deal to abandon its nuclear program and agreement he says that could come together by this weekend. At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News. President Trump says he will nominate acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to serve. in the role permanently. He's acting Attorney General tomorrow. I'm instructing Dan and everybody else that's involved in that very complicated process, which is going to go, I think, very quickly, that we are going to make him permanent Attorney General. Democrats are Democrats in the state legislature of approved a measure to allow mid-decade redistricting. To change congressional districts before the census, the state constitution would need to be amended. Both the Democratic-controlled state senate and assembly passed resolutions Wednesday to do that. They'll need to pass it again next year, then have voters approve it in November 2027. If they do, districts could then be redrawn for the 2028 and 2030 elections. Andrew Whitman, News Radio, Wham 180. Republican Congresswoman Claudia Antony is trying to get former Governor Andrew Cuomo prosecuted over testimony related to the pandemic. She tells our Bob Lonsbury she has pushed the issue with the new acting Attorney General. I made a referral back over to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and said, is there any action? Is there an investigation? What's going on? Former Attorney General Pam Bondi did not forget any criminal charges against Andrew Cuomo. From further strikes on Iran. In a 215 to 208 vote Wednesday, the House passed. The Democrat-led Iran War Powers resolution. The concurrent resolution is adopted. Four, Republicans joined Democrats to advance the measure, which would direct President Trump to stop U.S. military action against Iran or get Congress's approval to declare war. House Speaker Mike Johnson has defended the president's actions telling reporters he is trying to keep people safe. But Democrats and some Republicans have criticized the president not getting congressional approval for the military action and over the conflict not appearing to have an end in sight, calling for the Senate to approve the legislation. Kristen, good one. Fox News. California is still counting votes in its primary. Fox is a negate Vogel with the latest. The latest numbers show Spencer Pratt trailing Mayor Karen Bass by just five percentage points and the very progressive city councilwoman Nithya Raman in third. The fact that there will even be a runoff is a bit of a blow to Bass, who has been in politics representing California for decades, but failed to convince L.A. voters she's done enough to combat the homeless crisis and to help the victims in the Pacific policy. And in the heated California governor's race, former Fox News host Steve Hilton is still holding on to a slight lead over another career politician, HHS former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, with billionaire progressive Tom Steyer, a distant third. Trade groups say memory chip stockpiles are being strained by AI data centers, and they're urging the U.S. to boost memory chip supplies. Nine groups from various industries sent a letter to U.S. officials, saying a global shortage poses a growing risk to industries and is likely to raise consumer prices in the near term. And five below reported profit growth and surging sales in the latest quarter, and the retailer raised its full-year profit forecast, but it also pointed to a wary consumer facing higher fuel costs. On Rochester Source for Bricky News, Weather and Traffic, News Radio Wham 1180. Rochester Police, Captain Frank Obrino, confirms a probe underway into the city's third homicide this year. Officers were contacted May 7th by the family of 29-year-old Majesty Montgomery, who hadn't been seen for more than a day. Detectives later found her body buried on rural property in Yates County. Walking the property, we found an area that just didn't look right. We started digging. and lo and behold, we did find the body of Majesty buried several feet underground. Investigators believe Montgomery was killed at a home on Austin Street in Rochester before her body was moved. The case remains active, and police are asking for information. Dave Smith, News Radio AM 1180. No one heard in a major house fire in Ontario County yesterday. It broke out at a home on Dewey Road in Manchester. Fire crews say that home was heavily damaged, but everyone inside was able to get out safely. The cause remains under investigation. A pro-le. in custody after a bank robbery in chase. Police say 30-year-old Nequan White claimed he had a weapon while robbing the five-star bank headquarters branch on Chestnut Street on Tuesday. License plate readers helped track a vehicle near the seam. Officers say White tried to flee, crashed near Remington Street, but then ran.
but was quickly taken into custody. He was released from prison last month on a federal gun conviction. Meantime, three men facing weapons charges after a late-night encounter on Rochester's northwest side. 18-year-old Quentin Mitchell, 19-year-old Levant Peeke and 26-year-old Terrence Prather Jr., face a range of weapons charges loitering and drinking in public. Officers say they approached a group near J. and Rice Street. People were reportedly drinking gambling. Two men ran, allegedly throwing handguns before being caught nearby. A third suspect removed. from a car where officers say they found another loaded gun stolen from Florida. All three are prohibited from having weapons. Dave Debo News Radio, Wham, 1180. Leroy police have identified teens that vandalized a local cemetery. Officer Caden Vangelio tells our Bob Lonsbury the damage included flags, statues, and other things left by mourners. They were kind of just strewn around the cemetery, picked up, smashed over headstones. Some of the headstones were damaged. The flags snapped in half and thrown around. There's some wooded area around the cemetery where items had been thrown into the woods. Vangelio says a footprint trail led to where the kids live. Police say they're working with the cemetery officials and affected families to arrange restitution. County Executive Adam Bello taking this year's state of the county address on the road. It's set for two this afternoon at the Seneca Park Zoo. The zoo is expected to factor heavily in Bellow's speech. Last year, the main topics were economic development and public safety. Despite Iran launching a barrage of missiles and drones in the Kuwait Wednesday, President Trump says the ceasefire is working. We nipped it in the bud very quickly as we do. We are the greatest military in the world. But some people would say they were slightly provoked. The president described the Iranian strikes as a response to what U.S. military officials described as defensive strikes by the U.S. earlier this week. New York could be the first state in the nation to issue a one-year ban on large-scale data centers. Governor Hokel wouldn't say whether or not she would sign such legislation. Much more should be done to ensure that communities are benefiting enormously from this and that there's not a drain on the power sources in that area, which has been the case for too often. The legislature is expected to vote on the bill this week. Advocates say it will give the state some time to lay out rules and make sure the energy grid is protected, and utility rates don't shoot up. Another legal defeat for former NRA chief, Wayne LaPierre. State Appeals Court has rejected his bid to overturn a judgment, requiring him to repay about $4.3 million and also banning him from NRA leadership for 10 years. A three-year-old girl has died and 10 other people were injured and a bouncy castle accident at a church outing in Canada over the weekend. Authorities say winds gusting up to 31 miles an hour tore through Montreal, tossing the inflatable castle about 40 feet into the air. Witnesses say the weather changed suddenly with children playing normally one minute and rain and strong winds striking without warning the next. Researchers at the University of Georgia found 132 win-related bounce house incidents worldwide between 2000 and 2021, resulting in at least 28 deaths and nearly 500 injuries. Good morning, Joe. Paycheck says small business hiring is picking up steam. The company's made jobs index rose for a third straight month, up to 99.34, the highest level this year. Hourly earnings growth held steady at 2.73%, while weekly hours in pay both increased. Paycheck says the report signals continued strength in the small business labor market heading into the summer. A Scottsville-based cell tower construction company has bought a Buffalo business. Patriot Towers has acquired transwave communication systems. Company officials say the move will allow it to strengthen capabilities and expand service offerings. Financial terms were not disclosed. Stocks were lower on Wall Street yesterday. At the closing battle, the Dow Jay Jones Industrial Average lost 620 points to finish at 56.88, and the NASDAQ dropped 239 points to end the day at 26-853. Fire crews say the home was heavily damaged, but everyone inside was able to get out safely. An Ontario County man convicted of assaulting a trooper faces three and a half to 15 years in prison when he sentenced later on today. Prosecutors say Miles Martin injured the trooper during his drunk driving arrest on Christmas Eve 2024. He was found guilty of charges including assaulting a police officer in DWI. The House has approved a bipartisan measure seeking to limit President Trump's authority to engage U.S. forces in the conflict with Iran without congressional approval. The resolution directs the President to withdraw U.S. forces from hostilities unless Congress declares war or authorizes military action. The U.S. military meantime has struck another alleged drug boat in the eastern Pacific. The U.S. other command said that two people were killed in the attack and claims their intelligence confirmed that the vessel was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Over 200 people have been killed in U.S. military strikes against suspected drug boats during the Trump administration.
