2 segmentsThis is your election night update. I'm Ian Price. The Associated Press and ABC News have both projected that Democrat Abigail Spanberger has won Virginia's governor's race. She becomes the first woman elected governor of the Commonwealth, defeating Republican Winsome Earle-Sears. With over 90 of Virginia's 133 locality's reporting, Democrats are also leading in the races for a lieutenant governor and attorney general. Ghazala Hashmi leads John Reed, 55 to 45%. Jay Jones is ahead of Jason Mierrez by roughly five points. In our area, Sam Russell is cruising a reelection with nearly 74% of the vote. In the 40th district, Joe McNamara leads down a little page by about 10 points. And in the 41st, Chris Oban Shane is ahead of Lily Franklin by 16 points. Based on results so far, Democrats appear on track to hold the House of Delegates, but many races are still too close to call. Latest results anytime at WFIRNews.com. I'm Ian Price.
