Grace Curley Is Back!

And we are very happy to welcome back onto the program, Grace Curley, host of the Grace Curley show, who will actually be in her own appearance today. And that's fantastic. It's nice to talk to you, Grace. How are things? I'm so excited to be back. Matt, thank you so much for having me. I've missed all of you so much. And now if you hear two babies in the background, please don't be upset. We're doing our best. We've got two of them. And they're doing great. Soldering on. Congratulations again, by the way. It's nice that that is the reason you were out for so long. So it's a good thing. Grace Curley, we missed a lot, too, while you were gone. We didn't just miss you. We missed a lot of news that we would have talked about. Were you here? An entire government shutdown came and went while he were gone. I think the Democratic Party played a really awful hand and lost that hand. I'm curious what you thought watching it from your vantage point, not having to cover it every day. Yeah, it was a weird thing. It's like they shut down the government and then they wanted Trump to kind of go out of his way to worry about the people that, I mean, a lot of them were, you know, specifically who were affected by it were Democrat voters. And it just none of it made any sense. And once it was obvious, it wasn't going to work for them. I think the panic really started to set in. I've just been really enjoying watching Chuck Schumer figure out in real time. that the crocodile is going to eat him. Like, it's going to eat him last because, you know, he gave it a really good go. He tried to pander and to appease these radical nuts in his party and show them like, he's like Steve Bouchemy with this skateboard. Hello, my fellow kids. I'm one of you. I could be just as crazy as you are. Turns out he can't be. And now he's probably going to see the end of his career. come in a really sad, pathetic way, Matt. Yeah, it really is going to be – well, it's already been sad and pathetic for a while. But it's just amazing to, like, pick this fight really all for show. And then if you're Chuck Schumer, I don't know how you didn't know you were going to lose that fight right from the get-go. But I've been saying for weeks, I'm not sure he had a better choice, right? Like, if he couldn't cooperate with Trump, like politically, that would have been – They would have hung him up from the yard arm from that. That would have been something he couldn't have possibly done. And then that means the other option was to fight Trump and pick a government shutdown fight. You know you're going to lose. Sucks to be you, I guess, Chuck. Yes, yes, it does. And also just to see, I mean, the timing of it. Well, the other part of it that I appreciated, and I guess you could say that Trump was playing politics here when he had Duffy coming out and saying, hey, we're going to shut down these flights. We're going to start, you know, 1% a day of these flights are going to be grounded and until it gets to 10%. In other words, like, people are going to feel this pain. And that's a Democrat playbook. You know, that's a play from their book where it's like, hey, there's a shutdown. It's the other party's fault. So now we're going to make it as painful as possible. And you can argue that. You can argue that's what Republicans were doing. But it's also, as Trump and Sean Duffy were pointing out, we're not going to be held responsible if a plane crashes because you guys didn't want to reopen the government. So, yeah, we are going to play hardball. And I just, I love when Republicans do that because we've witnessed this over and over again for the last, you know, 50 years of how these Democrats operate. And you've got to fight fire with fire sometimes. Indeed you do. Grace Curley joining us today as soon as the government shutdown was over.

The very first thing that they started to do was fight over the Jeffrey Epstein files again, which is where they had left it off as they started the shutdown. You know, what's interesting about this outside of just the files and what's in them and release them and whatnot, is actually some of the fights and some of the inter-party squabbles that are taking place. The fissure between Marjorie Taylor Greene, for instance, and President Trump has been interesting to watch. What do you make of this whole mess? Yeah, so I... I understand why people have issues with the way Trump has handled this. And I never think it's a good idea. And this actually goes beyond Epstein. I never think it's a good idea to tell people not to care about something. People care about something. And I see people do this all the time. It's like a celebrity passes away. People start chiming in and saying, you know, military, you know, there's plenty of regular people who die every day. And it's like people are going to care about what they care about. You can't change the culture. And so whether it's groceries or whether it's Epstein, you shouldn't be telling people something's not happening or that, you know, it's a hoax or whatever. With all that being said, Marjorie and Taylor Green having a problem with Trump in the way he's handling this and deciding to go on CNN and eat crow in such a humiliating fashion and kind of as this whole thing of like, oh, I've been enlightened or, you know, I'm finally seeing the light. I'm not going to be a bad MAGA conservative anymore. I just, it was so disingenuous to me, and it's so not the way. I've always kind of thought she was a little bit out for attention, and that's just what it reeked up to me when I saw her on there, Dana Bash of all people, and she's saying, Oh, you know, we need less toxicity. This is a network that for the last few months has essentially been saying that, you know, Charlie Kirk, it was his rhetoric that caused this. And you wouldn't have to – you couldn't pay me any amount of money to go on there looking for that strange new respect that I think she's about to get. I found the whole thing to be really, really pathetic. I do think that – I do think that Trump was resistant on this Epstein thing. And I think it's kind of obvious now, why? Because what we've seen, even over the last couple of days, Matt, with these releases, is that they are doing exactly what Trump thought they would do, which is they're skipping over the Larry Summers. They're skipping over the Bill Clinton. They're skipping over, you know, these other bombshell stories. And they're just hyper-fixating on Trump. And really, what happened last week with those emails, which I know you covered is... they're trying to smear him with a false narrative. So now they're like redacting people's names who have come out and said he didn't do anything wrong. And it's, you can't blame the guy who's been burned by the media in more ways than most of us will understand for being frustrated by this. But I think that this reversal of saying, let's just release them and actually, you know, come together and focus on things that matter is the right move. It is, but it's a tough position to take when he's been fighting it the whole time. But to your point, it's made nothing but sense to me why he resisted it. I mean, the thing is, if Trump's name was in there, like in a real way.

If there was actually dirt on that guy in the way that I think a lot of Democrats think there is, believe me when I tell you that we would have already heard that because of the Biden Justice Department, the Biden administration, like having access to those Manila folders deep in the bowels of all the FBI and everywhere else where all that stuff lives, right? Yeah, they would have not only found it, they would have looked for it and they would have released it either anonymously or out in the open and we would have already heard about it. So I don't really think there's anything of note in there. especially about Trump but he knows what will happen with it when it's released no matter what's in it they will twist and they will turn and they will they will pervert it into what they wanted to be And you know what, whenever I would tell that to people, and I would say, like, you're absolutely right. And plenty of people have said it where you think to yourself, if they had anything on this guy, they would have released it. A lot of times the retort I hear from others is like, well, they're in it too. So they didn't want to release him because they're in it too. They didn't want to get their own party in trouble because there's a lot of people in their party. And I just tell people, I go, these people are so trumped arranged, they've snapped. There's none of that. Oh, well, let me make a calculation here. Is it worth the risk? If my name's in it, am I going to get trouble? Anything Trump, they have no restraint. They have no logic or rationality. They're doing whatever it has to, whatever has to be done to ruin this guy. So I agree with you 110% on that. The first thing that you mentioned was a congressman, Congressman Sherman on the plane looking at, he says it wasn't porn, Grace. I mean, he says it wasn't porn. And anytime you have your name and congressman looking at porn on airplane in the same headline, it's not good luck explaining a way that you weren't. claims it was just the algorithm getting to him. It was just big booty women on his iPad. And he was just staring at it. Yeah, Matt, this is why it's so funny because when you text me, hey, what do you want to hit on today? This is one of these stories where over the last three months when I've been off, there have been some incredibly heavy, serious stories that I thought, oh, wow, it would really be amazing to be able to talk about this with the listeners. But everyone who knows my show knows, my bread and butter. is this kind of stuff. Is Brad Sherman looking at porn on a plate? It's just too good. Like, there's just the funny, the funny aspect of that's hearing the excuse. So what I thought that, I thought he was going to come on and say it was AI. And I was doing that. I'm like, are we going to do an AI thing? Because AI has now become like to go-to excuse. I'll see, no, Grace, of his generation, I mean, what is he, 71, right? That guy, he's, my phone got hacked. My phone got hacked. That's what they say. There was a glitch. It was like the older people's favorite thing. There was a glitch in the system. And so I'm like, oh, is he going to say it's a guy? And then he comes out with the algorithm. And I was thinking, you know, Brad Sherman? I underestimated you. I didn't think you had that one in these algorithms. He knows what an algorithm is. And there's a thing that people do on planes, because this happened to Matt Bill Gates a couple of months ago, too. It's happened to people before where there'll be...

a notable person and they'll be on a plane and they'll be on their phone texting someone and someone behind them will zoom in on what they're texting. Yeah. And sometimes something embarrassing is revealed or whatever. And I've often thought to myself, well... that's a little bit on the person who's recording them. That's an invasion of privacy. And I just don't like living in that kind of black mirror world where people are getting someone for texting their mom or whatever. This guy, Brad Sherman, he had that iPad out. Like he almost looked like he was trying to share it with the guy next to him. Like he wanted to do a group, hey, let's look at everything together. There was no subtle thing. The angle, you mean. Yeah, it's like on. Yeah. Well, here's the other thing, too. It was dark on the plane, and he had like a 7,000 foot long iPad. Like, you've got one of the big ones. And he's got it at that angle. And he's looking at, I mean, it wasn't, you got to admit, it wasn't porn, but it was, it was pretty gross. Yeah, it wouldn't be something that, like, if. If there was someone I knew who was looking at that on the plane, I'd be like, hey, please put that away. I'm surprised they didn't just, like, tape it to the back of the seat in front of them and just, you know, start scrolling. I love it, though. That story really made me laugh this weekend, and there's so many out there like it, which I'm excited to talk about. Well, you know, with all the gerrymandering that's taking place, though, I mean, you're talking about a California Democrat. So, I mean, that's probably a safe district, no matter how much porn the guy looks out on the plane. And, you know, the other, the one thing, this story is funny, so I'll play that a little bit. longer than usual. The other thing about him saying that it was the algorithm to me was that I don't think he understands what creates his algorithm. I think he said it was the for me page, right? Because there's a for me section on Twitter obviously. Like that page gets created by the other stuff you look at. So he's clear. If you're looking at like home improvement projects all day, there would be a lot of home improvement on your page. But it seems like maybe you're looking at something else. Yes, indeed. It's just, it's so good. And, you know, we say this all the time, Matt, but it's true. We used to have shame in this country. You know, there used to be an element with these politicians where they would do something humiliating and they would feel embarrassed. But I've been looking at this guy's social media. He's already, like, clapping back at people. And there's no part of him that feels, you know, that he's embarrassed by this. So the world continues to turn. Indeed. Final question for you before you let you go, and you've been gone so long. I'll take a couple extra minutes with you here, Grace, if you don't mind. Michelle Obama in the news once again, it's funny when people don't know when they should just fade into the distance and go do something else. But she's now all over podcasts and is making appearances and saying things like this country is not ready for a woman president and she's had a few other interesting things to say, which... I think you characterized it as whining. I would definitely share that opinion if I were you. She's been, I don't know, it's like professional grievance. You know, she's just like gripes almost like every time she gets on one of these things here. What do you think about all this? Yeah.

So the latest one I found very interesting because it was a very similar tactic to what Barack Obama did in Pennsylvania right before the election, where he was accusing black men of essentially not falling in line and supporting Kamala Harris because she's a woman. And that really didn't play well in Pennsylvania. If anyone remembers, Trump did pretty well there. And so to hear her complain about this again and say, people just aren't ready for a woman. I would disagree. I would say people aren't ready for a woman who can't tell that the person that she's, you know, next to in the White House is incapacitated. People can't, aren't ready for a woman who creates words salads. It makes them very uncomfortable and seems inebriated a lot of the time. That would be my argument. But the thing about Michelle Obama, hold on one second. Hey, buddy. The thing about Michelle Obama that I find kind of crazy is that... Sometimes not when she goes on these podcasts and she talks about like her glam squad or, you know, the fact that she had to pay for things and she was in the White House. I'm watching it and I'm saying. It's not that what you're saying is not true, but it's just this kind of, we all have things where we think I could complain about this thing, but it's going to come off really obnoxious. Like, just because what I'm saying, there's truth to it doesn't mean it's worth saying. It doesn't mean that, like, not every, you don't have to swing at every pitch. Not everything has to be said all the time. And she doesn't seem to realize that, so she just keeps. going out there and finding more and more things to whine about at a time where most people don't want to listen to this and they're sick of it.
