If the shoe fits

Tom Chiodano on Talk Radio 1210, WPHD. It is Dom time. Welcome in, everyone. Side question today, because these two terrorists, alleged Dom, okay, from the suburbs were said to be very suburban. So were their families. People over for tea. The kids knocked on the door to shovel snow. Kind of looking at these two. I don't think that was so recent. But the big thing with all the focus on this is how do you go from those homes, that situation, parents who one group sought asylum from Turkey, the others came from Afghanistan. Where's the disconnect that you would be ungrateful? So I told you this article at the Federalist today has my intention saying whatever happens in Iran. No refugees. We're not going to do that. We're not going to bring people in as refugees in this situation. That's what they're afraid of. And what will the outcome be? Well, still unknown. As I said, would it help right now or is there anything? This is going to be an interesting, you know, most of life is a test of will. Who is it that's going to outlast? You know, sometimes you have better resources, more background, your outgunned, okay. But in this case, we have the resources, but they have in their head no matter what. We are going to continue, and even more now, after this outcome, to pursue getting missile launchers and getting a nuclear weapon. Can we drive that out? and have trust that that will not be the case with whoever's in charge in Iran in the future. I'm betting it's pretty difficult. The guy that stepped up is the son and the father, the guy that we took out in his will said he doesn't want his son to be the successor. Wow. That's pretty bad. Sorry, DJ. I don't want you succeeding. What did you say, Henry? That's rough. Yeah, it is putting it in his will. Or if they said vaguely, well, you know, he saw it this way. I mean, I think the dispute between the two Muslim organizations, at least I've heard people speculate that, why they go after each other. With Mohammed, it was one group is the son. The other group is a top follower. And that's the only thing that seems to separate them. to go on rampages for centuries have gone after each other. So can we get it out of their head that as best we can verify, they're not going to be pursuing a nuclear weapon? You know, the ballistic missile launchers are bad enough. We've got to go after that too. I don't know. And it's a funny situation where there are still significant numbers of Iranians who are on board with all this stuff. And they have the weapons versus what I think are the majority of people who don't want to live like this, don't want to have this way of life. How do we implement that so that that happens? Not an easy thing to do. I mean, as far as the military, we could give you the stats day after day after day. We're taking out it's over 5,000, I believe, missile launchers or apparatus associated with it, which is incredible.

But they're still able to fire off some stuff. And the harder problem is the off ramp. Look at Venezuela. As far as we can tell, it's not perfect. It's authoritarian. The vice president's in charge. But the vice president of Venezuela seems to get it. She doesn't want to end up like Maduro. What's the difference? Well, the difference there is that's a totally political system. The difference here is this is fanaticism based upon religion in some way, shape, or form. When you have that, that's going to be harder to conquer. So the idea that they're going to roll over and say in a way that we believe them, which is another difficulty, they're going to give up trying to create nuclear weapons, that's going to be very difficult. Oil is reacting a little bit today. It reacted wildly yesterday, and then it went down at the end where the market was stabilized. But the idea, at least in a short term, that this is not worth it, if you buy into the threat that Iran is, and that no negotiation was going to stop them, then the short term pain is worth it. If you don't or you're just political, well, then you're not. This afternoon, Mikie Sherrill is going to deliver on all that buzzword affordability. Dawn Fantasia, our friend there, nobody can critique her better. We'll be here tomorrow. Based upon the preliminary, what I've seen with Mikie Sherrill, I don't see anything here that screams affordability. They're spending more, allegedly, on education. They're spending more on all kinds of pet projects. And they're spending more to give people the tools to navigate government for loans and grants and everything else. Well, why don't they just make it less complicated? Why don't they streamline all this? Why don't they cut back on something? Because it's Jersey, and they're not going to do that. How in the world? It is the question because I'm sitting here that night with you. Did this woman win by 14 points? And again, I chalk a lot of it up to what's going to plague us in the midterms. The savagery of hatred toward Trump is so overwhelming. They're going to come out and vote just to try to get at him in some way, shape, or form. I also thought, and people told me then, I now see their wisdom. that the government shut down then did hurt in Jersey a good bit. And people were reacting to that. But I wanted to give you one more thing. What's on my mind with Mikie Sherrill. You know how I've talked about a lot, even though I don't face it, the Mount Laurel decision. It's the first decision at Rutgers Law School that we got into. And the professor liked it. I, of course, did not. But given... that I knew, hey, it might not be a good idea as a law student to be arguing with the professor of the first class. I held back for a while until I had some legal principles ready to go. But here's what's happening at the shore. At the behest of fanatics like Mikie Sherrill, and others, they've taken Rutgers studies.

And they're going at the most extreme of what could happen 30, 40, 50 years from now and in the interim as far as climate and the demands on how high buildings have to be across the Jersey shore. It's very reminiscent of exactly what we're talking about when it comes to the Mount Laurel decision and developers and having them come into towns. And I always seize on what happened in Medford. They had this big blow up right around the time of the holidays. People gone nuts. It dawned on them. They were going to have to put in 800 or so new housing to make up to the money for 170 or so-called affordable housing, destroying their quality of life. Both those town, Medford and Medford Lakes, they went from Mikie Sherrill. Why didn't any of this resonate that this is what she would do, what Democrats, what progressives, what they've done, and we'll do again and again and again. And I think it's because you had such Trump hatred. You had enough of it. I don't know if Medford and Medford Lakes hate Trump. I mean, well, what's not to like about Jack Ciattarelli and what he was proposing in a town like Medford and Medford Lakes? I thought Medford was vaguely meds and meds. I didn't think it was. Democrat per se, why would they do that? What is it they were caught up in? Did they buy the affordability thing? What about Mount Laurel? He would have fought that. What about the Jersey Shore thing? If you have a second home or people that live there with this overkill as far as what you have to do to protect against climate. This is what they're about. This is what they will always do. And the ones that are, quote, moderate, quote moderate, they'll enable them. They're not going to fight them. They're going to go along with this stuff. So in a nutshell, that's where I see this headed to the midterms. A, we're going to see Trump Patriot and B. She's going to say, what's the over and under? What do you say, Henry? want to bet on anything but this i say she can't possibly use the word affordable or affordability or afford more than i'll have one to my total six times today come on it's only like a 45 minute speech oh 45 minutes you think you'd take you over that over in the first 10 How about you, Kirk? You're going over? I'm going with Henry's... Over. Yeah. All right. You guys into double figures. Yeah. Okay. Double figures. Wow. Okay. We'll see if this ruse continues with it. 855, 839, 12, 10. A lot of this is pitched to say, I care about South Jersey, not just North Jersey, which is a lie. Will she say? And if she does, she ought to be impeached right there. Central Jersey. At least one guy is. So something of that nature after the maniacs over the weekend with an improvised explosive device was used. So this looks like I think you're right. We got to watch that, that things associated with it might be a good side question. Just seeing this in the news. Or bizarre stuff, you know, something bizarre coming off this. It is pretty bizarre. And it seemed like he had really worked this up in response to the Democrats refusing to reopen Homeland Security or at least pay people Homeland Security. Here's Jennings' response after the bombing we saw in New York. And what are we seeing right now? We're seeing their back at Gracie Mansion with another suspicious package of something. And we're afraid of sleeper cells here, et cetera. It's a reasonable fear. Here is Scott breaking down. What is at stake here with sleeper cells, et cetera? To do that. And Democrats and Republicans have been highlighting that. Firing the people who know how to do this is not the great place to start. But does anyone here believe that we should keep the Department of Homeland Security, that's the name of it, indefinitely shut down to try to force ICE policy changes on an agency that's already funded until 2029? When you acknowledge their sleeper cells, when we all see radical Islamic terrorists throwing IEDs in New York City, when we saw a radical Muslim terrorist shoot up a bar in Austin, when we had tornadoes in Oklahoma and Michigan this weekend, when we had TSA lines of five hours in airports. We had all these things going on. Is it even remotely reasonable? No. What I think, what I believe is that Democrats and Republicans need to get their shit together. Everybody does at this particular. We're going to reopen it. Kash Patel. The House is already voted. Kash Patel. Kristi Noem, look as if they're swimming at a time where we need strong leadership. And we don't have it. That's what we're thirsty for. Mark made it interesting. And I think you laid out actually a lot of changes that suggests that the administration acknowledged. All right. And this Mark guy, former chief of staff for Pence, he went on to say. I saw this last night. Well, why don't we take the mask off ice? That's what Abby Phillips said. And he said that small ball. Yeah, I guess that small ball we can do it. It's not small ball. We're not taking a mask off ice. Are you insane? That would undercut the very reason why we have them allowed to wear a mask because they'd be under attack. All right, let's look into our crystal balls. How much pain is out there until we get this right in Iran? That's a reasonable thing to take a look at. I'm looking at the market as we speak. The oil prices have dropped. They did yesterday after really skyrocketing. And again, savvy people know that what you see at the gas pump, you're driving place after place, it is a barometer that people notice. I was amazed during the Biden years how much people noticed at the grocery store. I didn't think that was as potent as was looking at a gas pump, but they did. And once that froze, Joe Biden was done. Let's go to Daniel Turner. Daniel is the founder and executive director of Power of the Future. He's with us on Talk Radio 1210. Hey, Daniel, thanks for being on today. Tom is always great to be on your program. Thanks for having me back. So the price of oil drops to $77 per barrel. Why is that in your view? What's happening? And $77 a barrel is more than $10 cheaper than the average price during the Biden administration. So all the left, all the Democrats who are up for re-election, who want to, you know, get some jabs in that Trump need to accept the fact that despite everything that happened in Iran and is happening in Iran, we are still around $12 cheaper than the average prices under Joe Biden. That's how great. American energy dominance is. But to answer your question about why prices have been so volatile, oil markets hate uncertainty. And when there's uncertainty, prices go through the roof. During the Biden years, the uncertainty was domestic. Are we going to have leases, right? The first of the quarter, we're supposed to have federal land leases for oil and gas drilling? The Interior Secretary Deb Holland would come out and she would say, I have indigenous knowledge. She's half Native American. I have indigenous knowledge that tells me there will be no leases today. Well, that's a lot of uncertainty, right? I don't know what the hell that means. No one does. But there are no land leases. So you're an oil and gas company. You're planning to bid $100 million on land leases, and they were canceled because the Native American Interior Secretary says, her indigenous knowledge. This is the crap we had to deal with them. But you want to get some financing. Gary Gensler says, you know what? I think we're going to punish banks if they finance to the fossil fuel industry. How much? Well, let's say. I'll let you know. Uncertainty. So during all the years of the Biden administration, there was regulatory uncertainty. What new crap would come out of the EPA today? No one knows what the new rules are. What's the greenhouse gas? No one knows. What's the parts per million? No one knows. So there was just uncertainty. The last 13 months...

We had complete certainty. We knew everything that was happening. And what was the result? $60 oil. And everyone said, holy crap, everything calmed down. Everything was easy and normal. Well, right now we have 12 days of uncertainty again. But even that is starting to calm down. And that is why oil is to $78 a barrel. Yes, it spiked for all of 12 hours. That stunk. but it is back to relatively low prices and trending in the right direction. So in your estimation then, is there anything that could happen? I'm not talking about something, you know, that's bizarre. Based upon the narrative as things are going right now, it would seem to me then it should remain within this range. Maybe if they sink a ship in the straight, and maybe that would be the disaster that would move it, Daniel, other than something like that. Do you think the worst is over? I do, because there's so much supply in the oil and gas industry that that ultimately calms down fears, right? What drives the prices, supply and demand? Our supply is absurd. America's producing 13.7 million barrels a day up more than half a million just in the last couple of months, right? So we don't have a supply problem. There is that uncertainty of logistics, of transportation, of shipping. And that has people spooked. Now, anything can happen, of course. If I knew how to crystal ball, I would be working on Wall Street, right? And I'd be a lot richer than I am currently. So anything, of course, can happen. But I do think the worst is behind us because America has exercised that's might. President Trump has given some military guarantees. And he's giving insurance guarantees. If there are ship captains who are in the straits and they say, hey, look, my insurance company doesn't want me to go through here. I have $400 million worth of oil on this tanker. I need insurance. Well, now President Trump has said, okay, the American government will insure you. That's how confident we are in our military and your security. A lot of reassurance is coming from the president that is calming down markets. Do you see in your mind if this goes on longer than, say, a month that keeps on going on, but nothing dramatic happens. You know, it starts, it's kind of like the background. Oh, that's still going on. Would that have any influence on prices on the markets, et cetera, if that happens?

No, because I think like we saw in the Biden administration, that level of uncertainty would find its new price point, and that would be the new normal. The new normal under Biden was $90 a barrel. It should have been a heck of a lot lower, but his administration caused that. If the Straits of Hormuz, if what's going on in the Persian Gulf, what's going on in Iran, it's a month from now, it's still a little vague and no one knows. the markets will find their price point. Maybe it's this. Maybe it's $78 a barrel. Hopefully it's less. The one thing I will say, though, and as much as I don't want to see high prices, I don't want to pay more, right? I don't get paid more. If oil makes more money, I'm not on the business side of this. I'm on the fight for American jobs side of this. So I don't want to see high prices because it's not great for consumers and for American families. But I will say this in defense of our beloved president, who I love. He will not use the military or anything in his arsenal to lower prices for political purposes. And that is a difference between him and Joe Biden. People have said, you should happen to the strategic petroleum reserves. Nope, because we don't have a reserve problem. We don't have a – what about the midterms? You may lose the House and the Senate. He is doing this because he believes it is the right thing to do politics. Let me just say that I'm in agreement with you on that, but you know what? If we don't win the midterms, Daniel, then it's over. The Trump years are over. We know what they're going to do. Would it be out of bounds then to tap into the strategic supply? Why would that be out of bounds? Because we don't need it. We don't have a supply problem. We don't like the fact that we're paying more for oil, but never before as an American president tapped into the strategic reserves to lower prices until Joe Biden did it in 2022 to save himself the midterms. And it worked. He kept the Senate. He kept Chuck Schumer's majority leader. He got his judges through. He did it. But look at the damage that it has done. We are still 300 million barrels short in the reserve. because of what Joe Biden did to us. What about, well, what is the strategy that the president sometimes seems to put out there about the Russian sanctions in order to get more oil out there worldwide? How about that? I didn't see he lifted sanctions from Russia. I think that's more for our European friends because they get an awful lot of oil and gas from the Middle East. And he doesn't want to see them. There was a report that the United Kingdom had two days of natural gas supplies. Now, don't forget, the United Kingdom used to own the North Sea, which is a huge oil and gas deposit. Ask Norway that funds basically its entire economy on the North Sea oil and gas.

But the UK has foregone it for their climate agenda. So now you want to say to these Greens, whether it's Keir Starmer or Tony Blair or any of them, now your country has two days of natural gas left? How do you risk the livelihood? And that's what Joe Biden was doing to us. How do you risk the security of your people because of some insane climate change agenda? President Trump is really clear. Oil and gas run the world. You can wish it were otherwise. You can even try to fight for it to be otherwise. But that is the reality. Everybody needs oil and gas to run their military, to run their economy. China needs it to run its manufacturing. Elon Musk talks about how we need to have wind and solar. Great, but they're made from oil and gas. So you cannot live without oil and gas. And if we dominate that industry, we dominate the world. And America is the ultimate force for good. All right. Look, that is not a crazy rose-colored glasses given the last day and a half of where we're seeing oil be. You know, I got to drive by that place in Cheston Hill. I don't know if they're at $4 a gallon. You know the place I've talked about there, the middle of Chestnut Hill and Germantown Avenue. They had $3.89 stuck up there the other day when it was $297, a few blocks away. But if you see that big four start to be with a guy walking up there with the four, start screaming at him, no, no, you can't put the four up. We heard that the other day, though. By the end of this month, the four would come out. I don't see it at this moment as this becomes more normalized. Now, if they attack the shipping and the Strait of Hermuth, then you might see even more difficulty. All right, phone lines are 855, 833, 9, 12, 10. Take a lot of your calls. And, of course, coming up, progressive women gone wild. Some people have said that's another outcropping of the suburbs. It is with something, a saying, a person, clothing, something that you go, yep, that's more suburban than anything. Doesn't have to be rich. But it has to be, people are centering on a lot of lawn stuff in the beginning. Now they're all over the place. And again, don't forget, we're going to have some great guests, Henry's working up in the middle. Just think about Travis Mannion this year, too. We're in the middle of another, look, to me, this is a war. I realize why the Trump administration doesn't want to say that. You got to stop playing games with language. It's a war. This isn't a little operation like Venezuela. Because the long-term outcome of this is, can we get them to see? They're not going to be able to get a nuclear weapon to get that out of the blood, that we have a figure there that has control and can move forward with that. I think they're saying this is even more reason to get one. You couldn't do this to us if we had one. So that's a heck of a bet.

And this is one of the biggest test of wills that President Trump has ever faced. It's not we can't knock out a lot of their infrastructure. It's a mentality that they're going to continue this. And you hear more and more Americans, strangely, not get it and say, well, why can't they have a nuclear weapon? Israel has them, where we have them. Really? You don't get it. You don't get what they'll do. You don't get the fanaticism. Are we going to wake up every day thinking, no, the world shouldn't have to do that. They've got to get out of their mind that they're going to have this, that they cannot be acting on this. I'll put it that way. Is that possible? Maybe. 855-839-1210.
