PA Republican Gov. Candidate Stacy Garrity Joins The Show

I'm going to play you Alante, who this week couldn't speak before City Council on Thursday. That's why he's not with us. But remember, if you're in the Congressional District 3rd or 5th, you can vote for him. to be on that committee, statewide committee of Republicans. Wow. I mean, I'd have to see if I can get an invite to that first meeting. If he and Scott Presler on there, and Presler yesterday, if you missed, it was on fire. You know, he's a funny guy with some things. He doesn't want to toot his own horn, so I didn't know how he'd feel about revealing his new book will be out in early June. And he wants to do a book signing with us in broadcast. So we're working that up with him. And the book Chronicles, we're talking about America today, talking about Apple Pie Day yesterday, as American is Apple Pie. Just look at Scott Presler. It's stunning. First, the trash drive. Remember that? The filth. Tons of it taken out of Baltimore, Philadelphia. Then the whole thing of voter registration, who owned that? Which party was associated with? Democrats, they're still really good at it. You got to face it, they're constantly on that. But who seized some of that from them? And he does it in an entertaining theatrical way. I mean, it's unbelievable what this guy does. You got to meet him in personal, be at Mulligans. So he sees that. And then, of course, Along with Linda Kearns, I thinking being a lot of other people, really, really helping to deliver Pennsylvania to President Trump. Now, one update on all that stuff delivering Pennsylvania, the White House is meeting with the Department of Justice, DHS, and the USPS, Postal Service, about creating voter list along the lines of this mail-in ballot. I'm fine with this. I'm fine as long as we bill it that we are trying to rinse out every bit of potential difficulty here. I just don't want us to backslide on the mail-in-ballot stuff. The sports analogy. You know, we're playing 30 seconds, and they're playing a 48-minute or 60-minute football game. We can't backslide on that. The mail-in balloting really helped in 2024. We need it again. And, you know, you have so many voices. And look, you can remember, remember those days when they tried to shut us down over in Bucks County, people in line there, Jim Worthington and others helping. Presler. People had their ballot and they wanted to deliver it directly. The shame of that, a woman in a wheelchair there. So you can vote more securely mail-in ballot. And the Trump stuff on this, I'm on board with it. Anything that is voter integrity is going to do that. But we go backsliding with the message, particularly, you just heard Fred Herron. The wind is at the back of Republicans this week with the redistricting with the Supreme Court. The problem, I'm looking at this story that was just done over in Ryan McKenzie's district.

And the problem there is voter apathy. National publication on this. And Ryan McKenzie is an outstanding congressman. Got to get him over the finish line. Against a firefighter who now wants to defund the police, even though he tweeted attacking George Floyd Summer. You've seen that guy. We have a clip of him with Mayor Pete. being coached up on how to be authentic for a TV ad. I got to confirm with you, Henry. Can we hear the person coaching them up clearly enough? I'm a little unsure on that. A little bit. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Maybe next segment we'll do that. But the point is President Trump, Fred Harris, right, is not on the ballot. We got to, he's got to do a better job of the transfer to this all out. because there may be voter apathy, but there's not apathy toward hating Trump on the other side. That drives voters out. You mean they're just going to commit? Yes. They did it in the last spasm here. We were just talking with them in Bucks County. They're going to do it again. This is what animates them. And they're willing to do it even with a party that has lost its mind. I know Philadelphia. I have institutional knowledge of this. This guy, Chris Rabb. First of all, Chris, you're pugnacious. Henry, you're trying to book him, right? Do we hear it back? Come on, Chris, come on the show. In studio an hour. I'll shut up the first 10 minutes. You can tell us, as long as you tell us for the first five minutes, your love from Mumia Abu Jamal. Tell me about him as a freedom fighter, Chris Rapp. Come on a show, buddy. We can do three hours if I want. If you can take, you'll be exhausted after one hour, Chris. Trust me, you won't be so pugnacious. Bring the Philadelphia Enquirer with you. Bring Hasan Piker. Bring A.O.C. Bring the Mount Airy Lattee crowd with you. This guy might win on Tuesday. The polling is starting to indicate this is going to be very close with Sharif Street. Look, Sharif Street and I don't agree on too much, but he's a decent enough guy. He's a liberal. He's not a son Hasan Piker. He's got the building trades. But this guy's bringing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to a church tomorrow. And Joe of Columbus, great insight, Joe. Suddenly, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's out there quoting God because they're close to an election. And God is not a capitalist. God's against all those billionaires. But the point is, this guy, it's revealed today, Chris Rab. is one of these signatories pushing to have Governor Josh Shapiro released from jail Mumia Abu Jamal. Just think about it over the last 45 years. Henry, if you take a note there, because I think we should get Marine Faulkner on maybe on Monday is one final piece to this. Just think of the agony. But you know what? If you've never met Marine Faulkner, and I think should be coming to the shore. Boy, I really have to push. As Mulligan said, Johnny, to have enough space there. Kirk, you're in charge of that, too. We brought Marine Faulkner there, too, in addition to Scott and that other gallery of people. Oh, my God. Absolutely. Yeah, yeah. I know she comes to the shore, and she goes to North Wildland. Yeah. Imagine 45 years. But she has grown into a woman who has persevered and been this shining light for other victims of violence from the left.

that the National Democrat Party is in the camp of defund the police, go after the police, go after ICE. So this guy who might be elected by Mount Airy in that district, one of the most, the most Democrat district in the country, is the signatory calling Mumia Abu Jamal a freedom fighter. Yeah. All right, let me top that, too, with another voice weighing in. Our buddy, Alante McCauley, was picked up by CBS3 yesterday. He was protesting in front of Larry Krasner's office around the issue of illegal immigration. And Krasner, putting illegal immigrants, of course, over Americans. This is cut 17. Here's a little bit of Alante McCulley. Philadelphia's DA this week accusing Krasner's office of giving prefrontal treatment to undocumented immigrants. Federal authorities cannot force local authorities to assist them in enforcing federal law, including immigration law. It's a danger. When you don't know who's in your city, when you're telling the Philadelphia police that you cannot work with ICE, you're putting illegal aliens before Philadelphia's. The House Judiciary Committee is giving Krasner until May 18th to turn over requested records, including communications, with ICE. All right, so that's Monday. So I'll try to get Jim Jordan back. Larry Krasner told him, he gave him his legal opinion, if so facto. And then he said, I'm going to use Philadelphia talk on you. Jim Jordan, pull up. Oh, my God. This guy. Yeah, it's just stunning. From the mean streets of Berwyn. You don't want that's right. That's right. What was the school out there? He went to. Conestoga. Yeah, from the mean streets of Berwyn and Conestoga. Philly guy. Is there a guy less Philly that in walking down the street in South Philly are going to, yo, Larry, yeah, you're like Rocky or something. Pull up, pull up, buddy.

But, Henry, I truly don't, I'll defer to you, you know, maybe, you know, 20-somethings. I still don't see it out there. It's ubiquitous as a Philly thing at all. I mean, it's just not. Not at all. No. Use my thing. I think it's a generational thing. I don't think it's a, yeah, Philly thing. Okay. I have not heard. So Larry's got the swag. How many 20-year-olds are you? Yeah. Are you getting talking to and then they get angry enough that they challenge you to fight. Okay. Well, yeah. Well, that could be any. That's happened before. Pull up, Dom. Pull up. Use guys. Yeah, I wouldn't say that either if I were him. But I remember I had him for Latin. So the Pope is going to take a broadside, his first encyclical tomorrow. And I think this is his lane. It's a good thing. And that's on AI. Which is a Republican Party. should not be cowed by the Trump administration and all these Larry Fink's that are with them in China, they ought to go after this. They ought to push back on us. Are Democrats saying going to say, but, hey, I will cure cancer. I tell you right now, first of all, we're curing cancer. What I've been told over the years by experts, the problem is a multitude of different cancers. In other words, each one might be peculiar. It's not just cancer. It each has its own. Yeah, and who is better able to understand that, human beings, experts. But this battle is shaping up big time. And Josh Shapiro is on the wrong side of it. All right. 855-83912. Wow, this guy is the king of all media. I mean, it is stunning how well respected. I think they talked to him about draft picks and everything else. He does the rundown of that. Yeah, it's crazy how much he became a celebrity when he got in that altercation on the sidelines with Jay Greenlaw because we knew him. He was our best kept secret. Right. And then all of a sudden it's like, who is this guy? But Aronimic, ESPN, Big Dom, does the opening salvo on that? It is pretty stunning. But I'd love to ask him if we could get, does he ever get Don and what does he do? Does he just put up with it? That guy the other day, though, the Gruber guy, you cattle, I told Roe that, couldn't believe it. Set the all-time record in like a 10-minute interview saying Don nine times. Fabulous stuff. They really went after Josh Shapiro because Josh Shapiro, according to them, and I think it's accurate, is allied with Jeff Bezos and Amazon on this. And this AI stuff. She joins us here again on Talk Radio 1210. Stacey, welcome back. Thanks for joining us.

Hey, Dan, it's always great to be with you. So, Bucks County last night, what were you talking about in Bucks County? Where's Stacey Garrity now at this point in the campaign? What's your lead to suburban Philadelphia? Oh, my God. So, yeah, so I was at a Bucks County dinner, and there were, oh, gosh, a couple hundred people there, and I was just talking about how, you know what, we are at a crossroads, right? And we have to decide what kind of state we want to be. Are we going to be a state that works for politicians? Are we going to be a state that works for families? Are we going to be a state when families open up their utility bills, that they're opening them up with dread? Or are we going to be a state that unleashes the liquid gold under our feet and uses Pennsylvania energy to power Pennsylvania's future? And do we want to be a state where kids leave for opportunities or where kids stay, our children, and raise their families, start businesses? And, you know, and stay in Pennsylvania because that's what we all want. Absolutely. Now, Stacey, I have been on this as a lane for people running for office. The AI issue is fraught with a lot of stuff, particularly Josh Shapiro now, according to even the Philadelphia Inquirer, one of their columnist, Jeff Bezos and Amazon. And last night, you probably know this. There was a teletown hall statewide. These people in the suburbs around here. You may see it in other parts of the state. They're very suspect of putting these huge data centers in their backyard. What are you seeing out there across Pennsylvania? You know, I'm seeing the same thing, kind of mixed. But I think the key is that some communities feel like this is being jammed down their throves. And so I think there has to be community buy-in. I mean... You know, it seems to be there's, there's, you know, misinformation out there. But we have to make sure that they are bringing their own power, that they're, you know, and that actually... They are a net contributor to putting energy on the grid and that they're just paying their own way, that they have community benefit agreements. And I think they're very happy to do that, that they're not close to residential centers. There are some areas. Like if you have abandoned warehouses or abandoned, you know, different like coal fire plants, like different areas that are an eyesore that. could use some remediation. I think those are probably some appropriate places to put them. But again, communities just don't want them, you know, ram down their throat.

And I think that's the rub. You and your team made a great pick in Jason Ritchie. We were really impressed. He was in studio the other day with us in the lieutenant governor's race. And this is critical because we want someone in sync running in that race since they run individual races sort of with you. And we're working on that with the primary coming up. We want to make sure it's Jason Ritchie. We do. So my running mate, Jason Ritchie, is amazing. And, you know, he probably told you this because I think you had him on yesterday. But he put himself through college on a wrestling scholarship. He put himself through law school working at a steel mill. So he has blue collar roots. And a very successful lawyer. And what's wonderful is that he specializes in energy and waste fraud and abuse. But what I love about Jason is that he is a wonderful father. And, you know, He has, and husband, he has skin in the game because Jason Ritchie has three sons. They all wrestle. They're all in college. And so they're getting to that point where they have to decide, you know, what they're going to do when they get out of school. And Jason, just like, you know, all of us wants his kids, your kids, grandkids, to stay in Pennsylvania, raise their families in Pennsylvania, start businesses in Pennsylvania. So Jason, Ritchie is going to be a great governing partner. Stacey, to that point, since we last spoke, the bombshell of Kathy Hochul, of all people in a much more liberal state, to put it mildly, said, yeah, we got to go with that school choice money, which is new money, will not take away from the public schools. She was at a center for Jewish education, I believe, in New York, and word filtered out. It brings us now to two, and she is to the left. She's the least of liberal. in Colorado is even more liberal. Both have signed off, and yet Josh Shapiro still offers up this lame. He doesn't do it himself anymore. I'm looking at it. I don't know about this, that, and the other. Kathy Hochul certainly knew about it and endorsed it. It really breathed further light into something that would liberate kids across, and as you know, would really help not only where I am in Philadelphia, but rural Pennsylvania to give these kids a shot. You're absolutely right. And here's the thing. The governors from Colorado, New York, they're not running for Pennsylvania, like our governor, is obviously more interested in Pennsylvania than helping Pennsylvania families. Because if you cared about, you know, our kids and their education and the fact that a lot of these kids, this would be a lifeline for them, it doesn't take away from the public school. And all we're doing is, you know, keeping opportunity from our children in Pennsylvania that need it. Yeah, without a doubt. And again, the posturing and everything else around this is just incredible. So since we last talk, going across the state, wanted to give you an opportunity, maybe a nugget or two, what you've seen versus the things we've just touched on, what is it people are asking you about and what is their concern? You've hit it three times here. We don't want people leaving the state. But what else do you see going on?

Right. So we have people leaving the state, just so you know, we are the sixth highest state with people leaving for other opportunities. And so our governor wants a promotion when he's chasing people out of the state. But people are concerned about the utility bills, right? They're concerned about gas prices. They're concerned about property taxes, you know, just the cost of trying to get by. And the other thing that they're concerned about is, you know, people... know that Pennsylvania should be leading the nation. There's no reason that we should be, you know, ranking 38th economically, 39th in education, 41st overall. We have 3,000 deficient bridges. And I know the governor brags about fixing one bridge on 995, but we still have 3,000. And I could go on and on. Of course, because I'm the state treasurer, I always end with this one that we spend $5 billion more a year than what we bring in. And that means that when we get to this next budget cycle, we were going to blow through probably two-thirds of the rainy day fund, which is totally unacceptable. And so people are concerned because they know that we have tremendous blessings in our wonderful Commonwealth. I mean, we have the best, hardest working people. I've said this to you before. We have world-class industries. And, of course, natural resources that are the envy of the world. And we should not be squandering these blessings. And there is no reason that we are lagging behind in every single metric. Yeah, and when you say the word, and it's even worse and mediocre, but when you say mediocre, oh boy, that's what got the bells ringing. So Stacey, one other things as treasurer, and I am kind of surprised, I've only dealt with him for about 20 years, you know, doing talk radio and back and forth. But usually Josh Shapiro is much more, the most calculating individual I've ever seen in this up close. that he just is out of control when it comes to the house in Abington. And you are following the rule of law here. As far as signing off in this, we want him to be safe. $33 million for the residents, okay. But he's got to follow and come up with the appropriate way. He doesn't just get to decide to spend a million dollars. Well, you're absolutely right. And so he had two bites of the apple, and he knows that he has to do it the right way. So when they put an appropriation through for the governor's residence last budget cycle for, gosh, I think it was $35 million, you never heard me complain about that or, you know, say anything about paying all those invoices. We gladly did it. But you can't just try to sneak through $1.1 million and upgrades to your private residence, which, by the way, Those upgrades were completed months and months and months ago. And again, everybody wants he and his family to be absolutely safe, but it is against the state constitution for the treasurer's office to use taxpayer dollars for a private residence. So they absolutely need to do an appropriation and they need to do it the right way. And when they do, I will gladly release those funds. But I simply cannot do it. It is not about the man in the house.

That would be, again, people might think voting doesn't count in primaries and lieutenant governor realize we got to get Jason Ritchie over the line. All you have to do is show up and vote on Tuesday. Or if you're mailing, whatever the process is, Stacey, at this point, it's critical.
