And still relatively dry air, relatively low humidity through the afternoon. So no rain expected for the metro area this afternoon. Seeing a little bit better chance for a scattered shower tomorrow, but generally our rain chances start to climb a bit more towards Sunday through at least the middle part of next week as we try to get that early wet season started. Thanks so much for joining us on a beautiful Friday morning. It is our top story, one that has you talking on the WDBO open mic this morning. President Trump late last night boarding Air Force won after what he declared as a, quote, fantastic meeting with President G there in. Beijing. Let's go in depth now live to Fox News radio reporter Evan Brown. And Evan, the president, as I said, called the meeting fantastic. It remains to be seen what of substance is going to come out of this meeting. But what can you tell us this morning, Evan? Well, I think fantastic might be a good way to describe it. I think a lot of this was to show the world that President Trump and President Xi Jinping still kind of get along and that things are going to be okay. You're going to be able to have open lines of communication and there may be instances where they have mutual interests and that the United States and the People's Republic of China can work towards those together without being confrontational.

9:38

Part of that was bringing, I think, Elon Musk and Tim Cook, as the president likes to call him, and say, look, if you guys, you folks here in China stop stealing our intellectual property and making cheap knockoffs, we can relieve sanctions and we can have these guys sell you their real stuff, and you'll like it. And President Xi Jinping seemed to be at least open to discussing those kinds of things. The one thing that really didn't get discussed and didn't show any movement, of course, was Taiwan. China would like us to have nothing to do with Taiwan. The Taiwanese people want nothing to do with China. And we have said we're not changing our state, our stance on that. And that was pretty much it. But if anything, the world sees that there is a good line of communication and a good rapport between the two presidents. President Trump likes to use the term friend when discussing Xi Jinping. I think the term friend, your mileage may vary with that, depending on who's talking and when. But ultimately, they seem to be, they seem to have that good rapport. They're healthy respect for one another. They seem to enjoy interacting with each other. And that's a good thing. You want the head of the United States, the leader of the United States. and the leader of the People's Republic of China to have a good working relationship. That avoids something bad in the future. Sure. Well, the president also said that Xi Jinping showed an interest in buying American energy in the future. Apparently, China's agreed to buy 200 Boeing planes. The president said that Xi Jinping will help with the Iran war. What that means, Evan, I think it's, you know, helping with the war. I think that's anybody's guess right now as to what that actually means here. Well, that could mean some economic pressure. You know, China, one of the things that China did to fuel its economy was to buy fuel cheaply, evading sanctions, buying from Venezuela and buying from Iran, buying very cheap energy, cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap oil. That has been cut off at this point. They do not have access to Venezuela. When they do have access to Venezuela in the future, it will be at full market price, not cheap, cheap, cheap oil. because whoever's going to run Venezuela in the future is going to play by our rules, not the other people's rules. And ditto for Iran. So if that's the case, China might as well buy American oil if it's going to have to pay full price. The American oil is a better quality product. It doesn't need as much heavy and expensive refining as the stuff coming out of the Middle East. and Venezuela is not ready to pump a lot of oil yet. So it can simply say to the Iranians, if you want us to ever buy your oil again, you better start playing nice and doing what the Americans say. Otherwise, we're just going to forget about you and buy American oil, and then the Iranians are really up the creek. So I suspect that that type of dynamic can be used to pressure the Iranian government, the Islamic Republic government, to acquiesce. to other things. Yeah. Yeah, we'll see. Devil's always in the details, right? We'll see China. Is that a history of not exactly being graded following up?

on these details, but we shall see, and it certainly cannot hurt the leaders of the two superpowers in the entire world getting together for photo op and pleasantries. All right, Evan, thank you so much for that report this morning. We appreciate it. That is Evan Brown, Fox News Radio Reporter. It is 813. Now, WDBO. I'm Scadinez Orlando's morning news. We do have your weather and your traffic every six minutes in the morning. Thank you. And currently I am looking at downtown Orlando where we've got, let's see here, it is 73 degrees in downtown. I've got sunny and 72 at Orlando's severe weather station. He's had torrents. He's in that WDBO traffic center watching your I-4 traffic cameras. How are we doing over there, Red? Scott, we got a vehicle fire on Colonial Drive just to the east of St. Nicholas Avenue. We're going to find traffic on I-4 westbound slowing. As you approach Lake Mary Boulevard, after that clear to downtown, eastbound delays approaching 27, continued a world drive, then slow from Osula Parkway to 535 and 408 to Amelia. I'm Ed Torrance, with reliable traffic reports every six minutes in the morning on WDBO. Now the three big things you need to know, powered by Marks Bay and real estate. There we go again at Carnival. Carnival Cruise Line says a passenger has died after jumping from a balcony. They say the guy climbed over his stateroom balcony and jumped overboard while the ship was en route to the Bahamas. It's the second death this month of a Carnival Liberty passenger. A sinkhole in Maitland has formed and it shut down a section of Wymore Road this morning. It's roughly 20 feet wide right now. The city of Maitland is working with Orange County to try to stabilize that sinkhole. And Seminole County Superintendent, Sarita Beeman, has had enough. She is urging you parents to talk to your kids after two high school students were arrested on Thursday for having guns on campus. The two students were taken into custody, one from Seminole High in Sanford, the other from Lyman High School in Longwood.
