Thomas Massie telling supporters on Tuesday night that he wasn't running against President Trump, but was running for what he believed in. I mean, we stirred up something. There is a yearning in this country for somebody who will vote for principles over party. A vocal critic Thomas Massie was defeated by Ed Galeraine, who was backed by President Trump. This was one of the top races that many believed was a test to measure Trump's grip on the GOP. Despite reports of falling poll numbers, President Trump's endorsement proved pivotal in the primaries on Tuesday across multiple races in Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky. Similar to results in Louisiana and Indiana just last week. The president's endorsement of Ken Paxton in the upcoming Texas runoff against Senator John Cornyn will be that next test of strength, that election to be held next week. Florida Highway Patrol now looking for help in finding a vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run this morning in Orlando. The incident happened on South John Young Parkway near Oak Ridge Road. That crash closing that stretch of roadways, it's around 4.30 this morning. Florida Highway Patrol has identified the vehicle as a 2024 or 2025 dark gray Kia K5 driven by an adult male with significant damage to its front bumper and undercarriage. A Seminole County lawyer now behind bars after being accused of helping his TikTok influencer daughter plot to kill her baby's father. Investigators say Francisco Gonzalez paid $10,000 to kill Jack Avery in a staged car accident. Well, Vice President JD Vance says he does not think President Trump wants to restart another military campaign in Iran.

Though he is prepared to do so. Let's go in death now. Live to ABC News, White House correspondent Karen Travers in D.C. And Karen, these talks with Iran continue. And the vice president describe those talks as aggressive. Tell us about it. Yeah, he did. And he was strikingly positive yesterday when he was at the White House briefing or on podium talking about where things stand in the negotiation thing are in a pretty good spot and heading in the right direction. But he wasn't specific on why he feels that way or where things may have changed to be in a better place and better direction. He said he preferred to keep that private so that things could keep moving along, inching along. He said that before he came out there, the president told him that there are two options at this point, restarting the military campaign or making a deal that says Iran can't have a nuclear weapon. And that the preference right now is to not restart attacks. He says the president told him, we're locked and loaded. We don't want to go down that pathway, but the president is willing and able to go down that pathway if we have to. We have heard from the president a couple hours before that. He spoke extensively at the White House before JD Vance and said that he had been an hour away from definitively ordering the strikes on Iran that were going to take place yesterday. But they're paused, he said, because of a request from the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. And he was asked how long Iran is to come to the negotiating table. And the president said two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday. sometime early next week, a limited period of time because we can't let them have a nuclear weapon. So that's kind of the first timeline we've heard it from the president in weeks, but that was very imprecise in terms of a new deadline. All right, we shall see. Karen, thank you for that report this morning. That is ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers live from D.C. Here's part of what the vice president, JD Vance, had to say about Iran. in that White House briefing room yesterday go. It's actually a very simple proposition here. There are two options, two pathways we can go down when it comes to the Iran situation. So step back for a little bit. What the President of the United States has said is number one, Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. And I think it's important for the American people and all of you to appreciate that when we say that it's not just that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. It's what would happen if the Iranians did get a nuclear weapon. We know that a lot of nations all across the Gulf would then want their own nuclear weapon and then a lot of nations all across the world. And what has been a very effective bright spot of American foreign policy really for the last 20 or so years would disappear overnight. If you have... every country in the world scrambling to try to get a nuclear weapon, it would make us all much less safe. And Iran would really be the first domino and what would set off a nuclear arms race all over the world. That's very, very bad for the safety of our country. As the father of three young kids, I don't want them to inherit a world where 20 additional regimes, half of them very dangerous and very sympathetic to terrorists have nuclear weapons. We want to keep the number of countries that have nuclear weapons small, and that's why.

Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. On top of all the other things that we might be worried about, that they themselves could use it, that they could use it in leverage in economic control or economic negotiations, we just don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. Now, what we did here is that we effectively degraded their conventional military capability. That has been done. That has been successfully done. You could always do a little bit more. But where we are now is the president has asked us, has told us, to aggressively negotiate with the Iranians. Why did I go to Islamabad Pakistan? Why did I spend, I think probably... 22 hours on a plane going there, 24 hours coming back, and then 21 hours on the ground negotiating with the Iranians is because we wanted to show a sign of good faith. The vice president of the United States is willing to cut a deal so long as the Iranians are willing to meet us, again, on that core issue of never having a nuclear weapon. We think that we've made a lot of progress. We think the Iranians want to make a deal. The President of the United States has asked us to negotiate in good faith, and that's exactly what we've done. So we're in a pretty good spot here but There's an option B. And the option B is that we could restart the military campaign to continue to prosecute the case, to continue to try to achieve America's objectives. And we could talk a little bit about what that looks like, but that's not what the president wants. And I don't think it's what the Iranians want either.
