54 segmentsLook who's sitting here, by the way. I love this guy from the, used to be the great state of Minnesota. Now it's a terrible place. And I tell my first cousin, Norm Coleman, that too, he never argues. The amazing congressman, Tom Emmer, the majority, if I called the minority, we're probably, of course, the majority of because we own the Congress. Hopefully I'm not looking too far ahead. And the news is not bad. Tom Emmer, looking as good as ever. How are you, pal? I'm doing great. I'm doing great. Good to see you. You too. It's always great to see you. Why are you in New York today? What's going on? I just doing what we're always doing. We're working for the team. We're here supporting our New Yorkers. We're here supporting the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, which will remain a majority after next November. Well, I hope so. I was just in Rockland County on Friday with your friend Mike Lawler, your friend and my. Little energy. Mr. Salt, and President Trump showed up 6,000 large at... The community college up there in Rockland, Rockland County Community College. It was an amazing event. Trump spoke. Bruce Blakeman spoke. He's running for governor. Mike Lawler spoke. Howard Lutnick spoke. Jackson Dart, the starting quarterback of my football Giants introduced the president. He's been getting killed since. But nevertheless, it was a big day with the president like you were doing, Tom, out there endorsing one of our great Republicans. Yeah, I'm not a Giants fan, but I am now a Jackson Dart fan. I mean, look, you should be able to express yourself regardless of what your views are. We always put up with the other side's views, Sid. Right. At this point, the idea that you're not allowed to express yourself is an un-American approach. Please. And have your disagreements. But remember, we live in the greatest country on the face of the planet. I'm sure that Jackson Dart didn't walk up to Abdul Carter, his teammate who had the big mouth about all this, and say, hey, you bought over Kamala Harris. What kind of moron are you? which I'm sure he did. He should do that. He really should do that. You're not a giant fan, but yet one of your favorite players ever played for the Vikings, your Vikings, and my Giants. Yeah, my neighbor. He's your neighbor? He was. He lived across the street. No, really? Oh, yeah. I was running for a different office back in 2010. And Francis, who I'm supposed to be talking to him when I get back, by the way. But Francis told me, Little Tommy Emma, how your mama and daddy, he said, you know, that house, I bought it in 1960 for $15,000. Wow. And you call him Francis. Yeah, I call him Francis. Do all of his close friends call him Francis? I don't think so. I call him Francis or Mr. Tarkenton. I love that. Mama call me Cassius, and you call me Mohammed. I loved him. He was traded to the Giants in exchange for quarterback Norm Sneed. Do you remember him? I do. You do? Oh, yeah, absolutely I do. Norm Sneed, he ended up playing for, what was it, the Eagles? I think he did, yes. So you're still a big Vikings fan? Of course. This is going to be our year. No, it's never your year. J.J. McCarthy's going to come out of his shell and is going to take us to the promised land. He's not even the starter, I don't think. Oh, he will be. He will be? Yeah, with the other kids, a gamer. He'll just be up at night. playing call a duty. The Minnesota Vikings have won. How many Super Bowls? Well, we've competed very well. How many Super Bowls? We've competed very well. Are you 0 and 4 or 0 and 5? Well, I think we're tied with Buffalo for 0 and 4. 4 because Cap lost once, Joe Cap. Yep. And Tarkington lost the other three. Well.
You couldn't score. I mean, you had a great offense. You had Chuck Borman, Ahmad Rashad, Sammy White. Remember, there was that game within 1975 in the NFC championship at the old Met Stadium against the crooked Dallas Cowboys, the Arlington Cowboys, where Drew Pearson pushed Nate right to the ground, caught a Hail Mary pass that he never should have had. True. And there was no interference penalty called. It was. Greatest Vikings team ever. But you know what? That's the way it works, right? a great city, I don't know. Your governor said something really stupid again a couple of days ago. Has he said anything smart? I mean, you know, there was a time. I'll tell you the one second I liked Tim Walz. One second. I want to hear this. Yes. It was during the wretched DNC, which was horrible every second of it, except for this. When I saw his son's reaction, to his father on stage. And that kid was crying. That's my dad. That's my dad. I was actually mad at Republicans that day because they were calling him all kinds of names. That was the only time I kind of liked Wolves, the fact that his kid... Loves him that much. Actually, he was kind of human. Let's be clear. You really appreciated his son. You did not appreciate Tim Walz. Very good point. I mean, he's not your dad and he's not my dad, thank goodness. That guy can't run a one car parade. He is an absolute moron. He thinks, in fact, moron is two words. You're right. I hate him again. But do I hate him as much as I hate Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis mayor? I don't know. Small Fry? Yeah, Small Fry. He's a really bad guy, too. Did you see what these guys did on Monday? It's a Memorial Day holiday to celebrate the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I'm going to jump in. George Floyd. They went to George Floyd. Well, it's a criminal. It's a drug addict and a career criminal that they wanted to celebrate instead of our... I mean, Jacob Frye tweeted six times about the deceased criminal. And once, very vanilla about our soldiers and their families who made the ultimate sacrifice. I've been saying it for years. We've got murals here in New York, Tom. Statues. This guy was a scumbag. He was arrested nine times. He put a gun in a pregnant woman's stomach. I don't think he died of a fentanyl overdose, but he was certainly on drugs that day. Either way, this is the person we turned our country upside down for, whether he was murdered or not. This is the person that, like you said, six, seven years later, demands the respect from the governor and mayor in Minnesota. We got other bad people there. Keith Ellison's a terrible person. Yeah, he's bad news. Who's good besides you? We got a lot of good people. If you go look at the presidential heat map from the 2024 election, it's on the Minnesota Secretary of State's website, you will see all red in the state of Minnesota, except for a blue dot in the Twin Cities metro area. And by the way, another blue spot up in the northwest angle, which has more moose than people. Is that like O'Clair? What is that exactly? No, no, that's up Canada. That's way up there. In fact, there's a stretch that is Canada, and then goes back to Minnesota. It's like 60 miles on it.
Telling me, Tom Emmer, outside of St. Paul and Minneapolis, that the rest of that state is basically red? I am. Tim Walz. Tim Walz was reelected with 52% of the vote. He only won 13 of 87 counties, the 74 counties that he lost, Sid. He got 37% of the vote, including his hometown, where Trump beat him by 30 points in his hometown. It is the 13-county metro, and by the way, that is not all blue. It's probably 52-48 or 54-46. Really? Yeah. I am shocked by this. So was the last Republican governor. We haven't had one here in forever. It's been all the way back to Pataki. You remember that. Now, hopefully Bruce Blakeman will be that guy. Polentie, is that your last Republican governor? Yes. He was pretty good, right? He was. That was the last one. Yes, it was. Norm Coleman didn't run for. Oh, he did. He lost to Jesse Ventura. He did. It was rigged. They rigged out election. Well, they rigged it, but Jesse did a good job getting all those young kids. And there was a time there when Norm was running for everything. Even Hubert Humphi Jr. couldn't win those races. Let's get back, though, to what you're doing every day in Congress. Well, let's get to Texas. Okay. Okay? Here's John Cornyn. Now, as far as I know, John Cornyn has never said anything bad about President Trump. He votes with the president over 99% of the time. I know Trump is frustrated and angry with the House and the Senate. I know that. But Quentin didn't seem like the type of guy that really irked President Trump. Yet the president goes out and endorses Ken Paxton. Ken Paxton wipes the floor with this guy. And President Trump is showing every week now, Tom Emmer. If he endorses you in the GOP primary, you're going to win. No, it's pretty clear. But we said this for years now. Donald Trump's endorsement matters. And you know what, I'm not going to play the rearview mirror stuff. There was a battle that took place in Texas last night. The primary's over. The people have spoken. And now this argument, which I understand in a primary, well, this guy can't win. I'm a better candidate. And, you know, you're going to have to, no, if you're from Texas and you don't know who Ken Paxton is, then you're really not from Texas. He's been through everything in Texas. Ken Paxton is now the candidate. Well, but I mean, who knows? Donald Trump has been through good and bad himself. Me too. And look at him. Right. He's probably one of the greatest leaders we've ever had in world history. 100%. Ken Paxton is going to win in November. He is. Well, this guy, James Talarico, is a cycle, isn't he? He's insane. This is what the Democrat, yesterday's Democrat Party and today's Marxist socialist, this is why Newt Gingrich says it best. This coming election. It's not the contract with America. It's common sense versus crazy. You got common sense, which is Donald Trump and Republicans, or you got crazy, which is these people. They think boys should be competing with girls. I mean, you got Tim Wallace who's putting tampons in boys' bathrooms, high school bathrooms. I think it's even... It's even easier. It's good versus evil. Like when I look at this DSA candidates, you got this guy in Michigan right now. He's a bad person. We just had a candidate win in New Jersey. She won relatively easily. We got the mayor. Yeah, we got the main, Maine, right? Well, I got to tell you.
Tom, this guy, Graham Platner, you will never hear me say anything bad about a veteran, ever, ever. I hate this guy. I hate him. Anybody, anybody that has anything nice to say about Bernie Sanders, in my opinion, is a terrible American. Yeah, but it's worse than that. I mean, this guy is, he's a complete fraud. He's got an answer for everything. He's got an answer for the Nazi tattoo. He's got on his chest. What was his answer for that? Who knows? I don't listen to him. But the other day, he said disparaging things about a fellow veteran. Yeah. I called it. He said he didn't deserve the Purple Heart. He said he deserved to be dead. He should be dead. And then when he was questioned on it, his answer was, you're questioning me. Do you know my military service? No, you don't play that. That's like Ilhan Omar, when we question her about criminal activity. She says, oh, you're a racist. You're a racist. You're a Roma phone. That's not, that's what Democrats do today. I know. They try to give you a shiny object and distract. Graham Platner also was very rough on Chris Kyle. I mean, the movie American sniper, rather cool, brother. Well, you mentioned Elon Musk Omar. She's another cycle from your state. I'm in Minnesota. You've got to love him. Why is she so wealthy? And what are we doing about that? That's a great point. I mean, first off, Ilhan Omar is always at the center of everything, right? There should be more gratitude from Ilhan Omar. She came to this country at the age of five. This is the country. She could have stayed in Somalia. But no, she's had the great opportunity that this country offers. And what she want to do, she wants to criticize this all the time. She's at the center of the feeding our future scandal. That $250 million largest pandemic fraud case in Minnesota, she created the fund in Congress that the Somali fraudsters, who, by the way, are her constituents and friends. There are videos at her celebrating with them as they're handing out supposedly meals, maybe to themselves. We're going to find out more about that. But then if that isn't enough, there's all these allegations of marriage fraud that, by the way, if she did commit marriage fraud, She should be denaturalized and shipped back to Somalia yesterday. It's our law. And then you're talking about the $65,000 that she put on her financial disclosures in Congress two years ago. Last fall, she updated it to $30 million. And now it went about seven months at 30 million. And when she saw Eric Swalwell, I will argue, getting burnt to the ground by the left wing media, she suddenly had an epiphany and said, oh, I have a rounding error. So it's 30 million down to... as much as 95,000. Oh, come on. This gal is crooked. This is not just bad fish. This is bad smell. It stinks. This is the majority whip out of Minnesota time. I remember, but we can't get rid of her. I know the, see, the censure thing, people get all excited. It doesn't do anything. No, it doesn't do anything. Basically, you get to yell at her in the chamber. You're a bad person, and then she goes right back to work. No, the only way that this is going to happen, somebody asked me last week if she should be forced to testify in front of Congress because she's ignoring subpoenas.
I'd rather see her testify in front of a criminal jury after she gets indicted. My constituents and people all across this country ask me all the time, Sid, when is someone going to be held accountable for all the money that's been stolen? Well, isn't Todd Blanche? Is that basically what he'd be doing? Look, I know the president was not happy with Pam Bondi. He likes her. He loves her all great. But Todd Blanche, you got to say, is doing everything he can to make the president happy. Even going after James Comey, which is a no-win, that's a loser situation. Why can he do something? Wait a second. Let's say that James Comey think he's going after him. No. This was a grand jury indictment. People need to understand this didn't happen because Todd Blanche suddenly had the big job. Now he's going to go after James Comey. They had a grand jury going for weeks, if not months, and they took testimony. They created the claim that they built the indictment, and then they did it when it just happened to be Todd Blanche. It would have been Pam Bondi as well. All right. How much do you guys miss Marjorie Taylor Greene? Be honest. It's her birthday today. Happy birthday, Marjorie. No, it's not really. Oh, yeah. That is so ironic. How did somebody... That love the president. And I know she had her battles with all of you guys. I mean, I remember the first time I actually met Mike Lawler. He said, watch out for her. I swear to God. The Esposito, same thing. You know, they say that about Mike Lawler. They tell me all the time. Watch out for that guy. Well, they say he's a rhino. They say he wants amnesty. He wants all these crazy things. I love Mike Lawler, but not true. No, not even close. But what happened to her? What do you think happened? I don't know. You know what? What happens to people when they go to Congress in general? I mean, is there a different kind of air there, especially over in the Senate? Think about the Senate. They're attacking our president right now for the, they call it a slush fund that would give private citizens in this country access to funds, compensation when their government attacks them, right? These are the same guys that last fall, Sid? Arctic Frost, you remember that? That mess? They gave themselves a private cause of action where senators who were impacted by Arctic Frost could sue for up to $500 million. But no, no, now we're going to put a fund in for the American citizen. It's good enough for the senators, but it's not good enough for the citizens. This is what we're dealing with every day in Congress. What kind of job? And I love this guy. I love them. I do. But I talk to people every day that some love them, some don't. What kind of job is Mike Johnson doing? I think he's doing a great job. Great job. I tell you what, you've got to grab a hold of that wheel. I don't care what your background is. If you got that job, you've got to grab a hold of the wheel, and baby, you've got to hang on. And do not panic. You've got to drive straight ahead. It doesn't matter what storms are in front of you. It doesn't matter what you encounter. You just hold the wheel and go straight through. And look what we've been doing for the last couple of years.
Exactly that. And, Sid, they count us out every time. But I will tell you, people will tell you in Washington, it's probably the best leadership group that you've seen in the House in years in terms of getting things done. We've got one, two, three extra votes, and we're getting more done than Republican majorities in the last decade that had 247 members. Imagine that. So you tell me, you may not like somebody, you may disagree with them, but the proof is in the results. I love Mike Johnson. I love you. I think you're just amazing. I could watch you and listen to you all day. You're hypnotizing. You're really all great. So tell me then on the way out here, because you've got to go to Fox News and speak to Brian Kilmeade. Tell me what you guys are looking to do over the next couple of months. Besides the obvious, when the midterms, I mean, when you're in that chamber, bills and those types of things, what are you guys looking to do? Well, I think our great president is going to lead the way with Iran. Right now, they're trying to skewer him because he is the president of peace. He's doing it again. I mean, he is completely decimated. The biggest terrorist regime that we have known in the last 50 years, the Iranians have killed more Americans than any other terrorist group on the face of the planet in the last five decades. Donald Trump has ended that. I mean, their military is decimated. He is now trying to negotiate a peace agreement, which is going to be peace on our terms. If that happens, Sid, you're going to see the billions of dollars that have been invested over the last several months. in our economy because of the big beautiful tax bill, as the president calls it. Those billions of dollars, now we will pay attention to that. Gas prices will start to come back down. People will start to pay attention to all the good news that is in the economy. And guess what? We're going to hold our Republican majorities because we have something to run on. What is the other side doing? Nothing. They're doing the same thing they did back in 2024. Nothing. Save America Act. Is that going to happen? It better. I mean, I'm a House member. We've sent it over there a couple of times. I think it's up to the senators to get their act together and that they get that thing across the floor in one form or another. So you don't think the whole filibuster discussion, nothing's going to change you? Or do you think something's going to change with that? Well, look, you can't just keep using the filibuster and the parliamentarian. You've got to take a vote. Stop hiding behind these things and take a vote. I can tell you in the House, the reason we get things done is because I'm tired of hearing over and over, I just need a little bit more time. Guess what? The time runs out. It's the moment of truth. You're going to show everyone in America where you stand on an issue. You're either with us or you're against us. That's what they need to do in the Senate. Final question. The Timberwolves are out. Say it exit again. So now you're going to have probably Oklahoma City. They're the reigning champs. They're up three games to two. I don't see San Antonio winning a game seven on the road. Probably Oklahoma City, Tom Emmer. Take on the New York Knicks. You are currently sitting on 49th Street and 3rd Avenue, not very far from Madison Square Garden. Oklahoma City, New York Knicks. Who does Tom Emmer root for? Well, I'm a cat fan.
Remember, we gave you the Carl Anthony Towns. That was a great trade for us. I remember what was Minnesota thinking Julius Randall and Devin Jenzo for one of the great big men in the game? That was huge for us. It really was huge. And that's why I'll be watching your New York Knicks, even though I'm a Minnesota guy and we're not big fans of the Yankees and we're not fans of the Giants. No, no, no, no. I'll give you a Minnesota guy right now that is a fan of all those teams. Norm Coleman. Well, of course. Of course, but that's a different thing. I mean... I guess you grew up in Brooklyn. That doesn't really count. It doesn't really count. You were actually born in Minnesota. Sadly, I've got seven kids and two of them are Yankees fans. It drives me crazy all the time. Is that right? Oh, yeah. But that's everywhere, cowboy fans, Yankee fans. I mean, let's be honest, Tom. It's hard to be a Minnesota Twins fan these days. When your kids were born, if that was the Kent-Urbeck-Curby-Pocket era, it might be different. Sid, we were supposed to win 10 games this year. We're almost 500. No, I know. Yeah, you guys are actually much better. We're not going to win a World Series anytime soon. I don't know. Do you care about winning championships in Minnesota? What's soon in the next decade? I don't know, 30 years. Even the wild came up short for me this year, and I love that hockey team. I'm from Minnesota. I always got next year.
It's so great to see you. You really are one of the greatest, most entertaining guests and an amazing congressman. And I wish you would come in every day. That's how great you are. Thank you so much. Thank you, Sid. I love what you do. I love you too. Feel better with that leg, okay? I will. I'll be running and dancing soon. I can't wait. He is the majority whip and everybody loves him. Now you see why, out of the great state of Minnesota. So lucky to have him in Congress. I love this guy. Tom Emerald. Thanks for listening to Sit and Friends in the Morning.
