There's a lot of news to talk about. Let's get right to it. So everybody knows what is going on with the Democrat Party. They are turning into obviously communist, socialist. Some people now are calling them confiscators because of what they want to do with private property. And we're going to get into all of this. I do want to play you a piece of audio. I think this is an incredible piece of audio. This is the head. of the DSA, the co-chair of New York City's Democrat Socialists of America. If you're watching on Super Talk TV, his first name is Gustavo, I think his last name is Gordita or something like that. What is it? Gustav, what is his name? I know we were talking about Taco Bell, but come on. Gordia. Gordia. Okay, big difference. Gordilla versus Gordita, whatever. Or I'm sorry, Gordio. But, Joan, how would you... Stop with the accent. It's Gordillo. Okay. How would you describe this guy's look? Like, I said that if Pepe Lepeu were in a porn movie, it would look like this guy. He's got a big old man bun. And by the way, I don't... Man Buns are fine. My friend Robbie Starbucks has a man bun. But this guy's got a big old man bun. It's greased back. He's got a... He's got a really thin mustache as well. And so he just, he looks kind of silly. He looks like I would expect a socialist to look. Yeah. But what he has to say is even dumber. Yeah. And here's part of what he has to say. They're talking about what is going on with property. in New York? The problem we're facing in our housing system is that we talk about tenants and we say they have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. They have to be responsible financially. But when we look at the landlords, we don't use those same standards. Landlords in New York have been making a 12% return on their investment for on average. How much should they make? What's fair for the landlord to make if you don't like 12? They're complaining that 12 is not enough. And we don't think that anyone should have a constitutional right to double-digit returns on their investment. That's why we've implemented... No one should have a right to a double-digit return on their investment. No one has a right. That's not... What are you talking about? No one's in the Constitution. But what we see is that when we implement a rent freeze, we have landlords who are... crying that the government is going to put them out of business. Well, they're trying to run a business, and they're trying to do it effectively. Are all landlords perfect? Are some landlords lousy? Of course they are. So basically his point is that no landlord or no business should have, and I'm air quoting this, double-digit returns. Let's not forget, like in the real estate business, and I've rented out my own homes before. So here's the thing. is that if you're a landlord, you own these apartment buildings, then you've got to make repairs. So if you are only allowed by the Democrats, a certain profit, if they allow you to have any profit, well then, number one, if something breaks, you've got to be able to fix it.

3:11

And so ultimately what they're looking to do, I think this is part of what they're trying to do, is they want to say, okay, so you are only allowed a very, very, very minuscule profit, if at all, on your apartment building through rental controls and that kind of a thing. But if something breaks, then the owners of the building, they're not going to be able to fix it because they don't have the money to fix it. Then the government, the New York government will come in and take over that property. It's all part of property confiscation. But do you know what else is going on in New York right now? Rents. are skyrocketing. So Zohran Mamdani has put in some rent controls on some apartment buildings and some apartments. But here's the problem. What that does, ultimately then, is the apartments that are not rent controlled go through the roof as far as the rentals go. And so that's a big problem that is happening right now in New York. So for, you know, the Democrat Socialists of America, it's like everything that they do, they don't understand that there is a opposite reaction to what they want to see happen. Incorporate price controls on rental units in the city of New York. Okay, then the rest of the rents are going to go and skyrocket. They just, they don't understand that. All the things that they want to do, they are destructive. Bill Maher, I don't know if you saw this, but Bill Maher is out there now saying he was on with, Joan, your favorite Jonathan Carl. I know. I saw this. Over the weekend. Yeah. Here is what he said. This is Jonathan Carl and Bill Maher. After Bill Maher said to JD Vance, yeah, you know what? My vote is in play. Your vote is up for grabs. Yes. My vote is in play. Because it can't be Trump running. So I'm not living in communist America. I mean, I know the talking point is that it's not communism and socialism. Okay, I've read the quotes from the DSA. platform from their own mouths. Don't tell me I'm not seeing what I am seeing. And DSA, again, they say things like, you know, take over of key industries, government. That's communism. You know, there is a definition. By the way, Trump's doing that too. Of course. Yes. And to a degree that we haven't seen any other president. No. That's crazy too. It's got a piece of intel. Right. A piece of the AI company. He treats everything like it's a real estate deal. So they, I love how Jonathan Carl, Bill Maher is talking about the communists. And then Jonathan Carl says, you know, Donald Trump is doing that too. So I was trying to figure out what Jonathan Carl meant by that.

6:06

And I guess there's a difference between what Donald Trump has been doing, which is the government has taken a piece of some of these companies, artificial intelligence and so forth. But the Democrats and the socialists and the communists, they want to completely take over industries. There's a difference between what Trump has done. which is basically investing the Trump administration and the government investing in some of these companies and what the Democrat socialists want to do, which is completely take over companies. There's a huge difference between that. And so we're talking about, by the way, energy, transportation, health care and such. So Trump has never said anything like he wants to take over complete industries. And there shouldn't be any profit made in any of these industries. That's not what the president obviously has done. Remember what the president is all about. The president has been all about, you know, free market and deregulation. I understand tariffs is part of that discussion. But deregulation. He's always one of the one of the big things that he's campaigned on is deregulation. And that's everything that the Democrats want to do is regulate and strangle these industries so that they don't get any profit whatsoever. So that's part of what they're doing. And I don't know if Jonathan, Carl, if they're taking some liberties on interpreting what Donald Trump has said in the past. But he's always been about private industry. He's always been about capitalism. But last week. The Democrat Socialists of America came out with their official platform and their official ideas. And it's basically a bunch of ideas that Americans have come out and said that they are not in favor of. I've got that part of the story coming up. I'm not going to give you a big old laundry list, but, you know, some of this stuff is downright scary. I don't believe it'll ever happen, but you've got to know what the communists on the other side of the aisle are. are trying to incorporate into your life. I want to play this audio for you real quick, this video for you real quick. This is a Democrat, Abdul El-Sayed, smearing ICE, smearing law enforcement as he talks about ICE, illegal immigration, open borders and the like. ICE has nothing to do with the southern border. ICE is about normalizing paramilitary force on our streets. ICE is about weaponizing the idea of immigration against the Constitution itself. ICE cannot be reformed. ICE cannot be retrained. ICE has to be abolished.

8:50

So there you go. The crowd, of course, going crazy. That is as far as what the Democrat Socialists of America want to do. Abolish ICE really is almost number one on their list. Abolish immigration enforcement altogether. Support migration, which to me, it sounds like open borders. Opposing restrictions on migration because they say that it's racist to enforce our sovereignty. They don't. necessarily in their official platform come out and say, you know, that they want open borders, but they might as well say that they want open borders. They want to abolish the Senate. They went to abolish the presidency and have Congress elect a leader. They went to significantly reduce U.S. military spending. They are anti-Israel supporting the Palestinians and Hamas. By the way, I love how they're like, we want to significantly reduce U.S. military spending. You know who wants to hear that? China, Iran, and Russia and North Korea. What would you do if your online store converted 36% more shoppers? You could take 36% more vacation. Another peanut carata? Yes, please. Open a new retail location. With 36% more square feet. Fantastic. Hire 36% more help. You're hired and you're hired. Shopify has the world's best converting checkout, up to 36% better than other e-commerce platforms. What you do with those extra sales is up to you. Switch to Shopify today at Shopify.com slash listen and get a $1.5.com. to, of course, abolish the electoral college. They went a new constitution supporting their ideas. They went to abolish cash bail because, of course, we know how well that worked out in Chicago. They went to reduce incarceration. They went to embrace the soft-on-crime policies. The other thing that they want to do, and I'm trying to figure out exactly how this would work, because a lot of this stuff is like pie in the sky. By the way, Matthew Heard is going to join us at about 635. Worker ownership. So basically, and I use this example on Red Eye, I don't know exactly how this would work, but in a perfect world, it sounds like, and I'm just going to use an example like Tesla or Starbucks. So all of a sudden are the baristas, if the Democrats get their way and they get the presidency, they get the Senate, they get the House of Representatives, suddenly are the baristas going to own Starbucks? Are the welders and the electricians going to own Tesla? You know, the person or people who made the investment and came up with the idea or the technology and took the risk to build these companies, are they no longer going to be allowed to own it? I mean, it's all just, it's silly. It's bizarre to me. And none of it makes any sense. Higher taxes on the wealthy, of course, on corporations, you know, the job creators. So the bottom line is that what these Democrats want to do is they want to fundamentally change America, which in my opinion means that they hate America. Now, these communists, there is a moment.

12:00

captured over the weekend. This was a state of the union and it is Scott Jennings and a Democrat out of the state of Illinois. Her name is Robin Kelly. And basically part of what she says as Scott Jennings is talking about what it is that they want to do, which is fundamentally change America, is, you know, Scott Jennings is basically saying that they want to destroy America. And this, this Robin Kelly. They keep saying, these Democrats keep saying, well, we're a big tent party, right? That's what they keep saying. This is a big tent party. Bottom line is that the Democrat Party is being taken over by this mind virus of communism. You know, in the Democratic Party, I don't think the Democratic Party leadership understands. They've already been overwhelmed. And it's just a matter of time before these views become the mainstream platform. And that's what they're going to end up running on in 2028 as well. I think we do understand. We talk about it all the time. In the Democratic caucus, we know we're a big tank caucus. And they were not all going to agree. But the one thing we agree on, we know we have to win. So there you go. So. They're making it seem like they don't agree with what these communists say, but ultimately they want to win. So in other words, what she is saying, the way that I interpret that is saying, is that, well, we don't really care about what it is that they're saying. We just want to win, which tells me that they're okay with the communist viewpoint and those policies infecting and ultimately taking over their party, which is really what's happening. I think the Democrats right now, they clearly have got to assume that Zohran Mamdani is their leader now. It's not Hakeem Jeffries or, you know, anybody else in power in the House of Representatives or the Senate. It is Zohran Mamdani. And, you know, they see these communists coming at them, you know, like a train going a thousand miles an hour. They are doing nothing to stop it. So now the question is. as this woman with the stupid glasses, because, of course, the rule of Nashville's morning news when it comes to Democrats is if they've got stupid glasses, then they're clearly the communists. And so part of this discussion has to be, okay, so. When she says all we want to do is win, or the most important thing is that we need to win, will the communists ultimately help them win or will it help the Republicans win? I think that's one of the big questions. John Fetterman, by the way, real quickly, let me play this. He's talking about flipping parties. And I'm assuming... You know, he's going to go to be an independent. I said overnight on Red Eye. Maybe he's going to go be a Republican. I don't think that's going to happen. But the Republican Party is most certainly embracing him. But one of the things that he says is.

14:59

The communists, they want nothing to do with Israel. They want to essentially destroy Israel. And John Fetterman says, yeah, I can't do that. And if that becomes the democratic platform that we will now ever vote for any aid and will turn our back on Israel, then that makes me to make that decision is really what a Democrat should stand for or being a part of my party for me. Now, you know, Jake, I've said this that. If I change my party spontaneously right now, my views and my votes aren't going to change. It's really more of a statement how, and if you look at the kind of people that are winning our primaries, their centerpieces of their campaign is anti-anti-Israel kinds of rhetoric, whether it's in my state or it's whether in New York City and what's happening in Colorado now, too. If you believe the Democratic Party's future is rooted in describing Israel as apartheid state or a genocidal and they don't deserve to have our support, that forces me to say, is this really make sense for me as a Democrat with these views that continue to actually intensify? All right. So there you go. John Fetterman, more than likely becoming a Democrat. I don't know. Would we welcome him in the Republican Party, Joan? Pretty sure I would. He wants to become perhaps an independent, leave the Democrat Party. We'll have to wait and see what happens with John Fetterman. Dan Mandis here welcoming into the program. Our grassroots political analyst, Matthew Hurt, is joining us on Super Talk 997. Matthew, always great to have you on. There's a lot of stuff politically to talk about. Let's start first with the Democrat Socialists of America. I just did. a big, long segment on them. They've released their platform. I mentioned all of the abhorrent anti-American things that are there. And, you know, each chapter, I guess, New York, Chicago, whatever, they're all over the place. And really, clearly, they are beginning to, they have infected the Democrat Party. Where do you think this whole thing's going to end? Well, Dan, in the last segment, you said something, and I think it was sort of a casual throwaway line, but I heard it and I latched on to it. You said, I don't think that they're going to win in the future, and it is that. You're doing a great job, but I do think that people should pay attention to what they are doing because we have in this – political system that we exist in a first pass the post winner take all two party system and so if the democrat socialists are winning more democrat primaries uh they are going to be the candidates that go up against republicans in general elections and you're absolutely right the platform that they are running on is is absolutely insane they're going to turn us into a scandinavian style socialist country And so it is important. The thing that is most important here is where young people get these ideas. Young people who are politically involved are ideological. They haven't yet been jaded by the quote-unquote the way politics works. And so they come to the scene with these sort of crazy ideas out of their political science classes at Vanderbilt or MTSU or wherever they go.

18:20

And they think that socialism is the way to go. And oh, by the way, it's never really been tried. And so we have to try it. But this is the next step to communism. And one of the planks of their platform, now this is where I think some conservatives get in trouble. One of the planks of their platform is rewriting the Constitution and creating what the Democratic Socialists call a Democratic Socialist Republic. Now, there are some listeners to this program who support what's called a Convention of States. which many people argue would send average Americans to go re-adopt the Constitution. Well, these are the kinds of folks the far left is going to send. And so that is one of the elements of this where there is some crossover that really concerns me. Our friends on the right who support Convention of States could potentially leave the door open for Democratic Socialists to take over a hypothetical convention of states and rewrite the Constitution. It is so important for people who believe in the greatness of America's founding, the platform that is propped up and promulgated Western civilization for hundreds of years to go out and defend it and fight for it wherever they can. And that includes making sure our children, the children in the school system, homeschool children, parochial school children know why America is great and why socialism sucks. But here's the problem. How do Republicans and conservatives reach these younger Democrats or whatever, communists? How do we reach them and convince them that their way is clearly the wrong way? Well, I mean, look, there's a couple of ways to do it. There's a gentleman by the name of Nick Freitas, who's a former delegate from Virginia, who's got a presence online. And he talks about the math. So leftists aren't having as many children. And so where do they go to get and indoctrinate the children? And that's in our school systems. I would say, even if you live in a place of Williamson County. You should know what's going on in the school system. When I went to MTSU, I was going to be a high school history and economics teacher. I had a great professor who basically told me not to do it because I'm too outside the box. But when I was in school, my elementary school teachers were women of a certain age. I didn't know if they were married. I certainly didn't know what their political views were. And now the education system is full of activists who think. they should have casual conversations about LGBT activism in elementary school, that they should have casual conversations about socialism in high school. And especially, and we all know that this has been happening for 60 or 70 years, conversations about socialism in political science classes. And so it's important for parents to have conversations with their children about why America is great. There's some really good resources like the Tuttle Twins. which is educational programming for children as young as four or five all the way up to high school. And it is important that we take on this cultural fight to educate our children and the children in church and whoever we can about why America is great and why socialism leaves people poorer and leaves less opportunity for the next generation. 641, Nashville's morning news. Matthew Hurt is joining us on the newsmaker hotline, our grassroots political analysts.

21:50

Now, Matthew, I'm not sure if you've heard, but we have a gubernatorial primary going on right now with early voting. And it's been a big topic of a conversation here on WTN. Do you know who you're going to vote for yet, Matthew? Well, I guess you can't. Are you, wait a minute. Can you vote in Tennessee? I cannot, and I haven't voted in Tennessee since. 2006 and that actually that brings up an excellent point the 2006 Senate primary is very much the same or there are some elements that are the same of this gubernatorial primary. In 2006, Bob Corker from Chattanooga ran against Ed Bryant and Van Hillary. Anybody who voted in that primary told you that either Ed Bryant or Van Hillary were the conservative choices in that race. However, they split the conservative vote. Ed and Van got combined 51% of the vote, and Bob Corker got 48.19% of the vote. meaning Bob Corker was the nominee. And anybody, you could look at Bob Corker's history and the time in the Senate. He ultimately won that general election. But he was the more moderate of the three candidates. If you're looking at this race, it's a three-way race with Marsha Blackburn, John Rose, and Monty Fritz. It is similar in the sense that... There's an anti-establishment fight or argument among the grassroots who are looking at either John Rose or Monty Fritz. And is, look, if somebody who's been a – I was a Ron Paul supporter in the 2012 presidential election. I'm not a psychologist. I don't play a therapist on the radio. But there are some elements that I've lived through that I think some of the hardcore supporters of, say, Monty Fritz – may be experiencing. And they are highly motivated for their candidate. It is a bit of wishful thinking and some false consensus effect. So people surrounded by fellow supporters, fellow Monty Fred supporters, seem to think they cycle each other up and they believe that he's going to win. I'm looking at the poll numbers. I mean, Marcia has – she's getting more than 60 percent in the polls. She's got the fundraising. This is not a foregone conclusion, but for supporters of a second or third candidate, John Rose or Monty Fritz, you have to understand that most people aren't paying attention to the primary. Most people will see a few ads. Most people will see some yard signs. And Marcia has earned the votes of people statewide and in regions of the state where she served in Congress for, you know, election after election. And it is really hard to get someone to vote for somebody else in a primary if they voted, let's say they voted for Marsha Blackburn, for Congress, or for governor, or excuse me, for U.S. Senate. It's hard to get someone to switch votes.

24:50

in the next election so it is it's interesting to watch and and i'm certain that moni and that john are making some strong arguments and i'm not making this argument on the radio to say that that marcia should be coronated um i've never voted for a for a Republican candidate in a presidential primary who's been the nominee. And so I know exactly where some of these supporters of other candidates are. But it is interesting to play out. But it is also very important that after the primary, voters come together and defeat whoever Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez campaigns for in Memphis. What's the best way to say this? Monty Fritz supporters, and by the way, Matthew, in case you don't know, and people are tired of hearing me say this on my show, but I'm not advocating or endorsing anyone, all right? So I'm just, I'm letting you know that I'm giving people the information so that they can decide for themselves. I just, I don't like to endorse candidates. Nobody cares what I think. So anyway, bottom line is Monty Fritz supporters will tell you, but Matthew. All you got to do is look at the, look at online, look at the socials, look at Facebook, look at, blah, blah, blah, blah. And Marsha Blackburn is getting ratioed. Or everybody's talking about it's Monty Fritz all the way. You got thousands of people, Matthew Online saying that Matthew Fritz, I should say, Monty Fritz is going to be the one for governor for the Republicans. He's going to win the primary. Yard signs. They'll say, hold on, Matthew, yard signs are everywhere from Monty Fritz. So, I mean, as the grassroots political analysts of Nashville's morning news, doesn't that sound like a really big grassroots movement? Look, it does. And the number that you said, I think, is accurate. I think there are thousands of people. And those people, again, as a Ron Paul guy from 2012, who was one of the thousands who voted in online polls and donated on specific days and who had a yard sign, those thousands of people, what it ends up being, and this is something that we teach at Leadership Institute about the difference in different. political movements. This is a cadre movement. So it's a hardcore group, a relatively small but hardcore group of people who, when you have online polls, they all go and vote. When there's a tweet, they all go and respond. But of those thousands, something like 400 or 500,000 people will vote in the primary. So that ends up only being, you know, in this 2006 Senate race that I mentioned a few minutes ago, there was a gentleman by the name of Tate Harrison. He got 5,238 votes, which accounted for 1.1% of the total primary electorate. So while they can cycle each other up in a, you know, online and in other places, when it comes to the full number of people in the electorate of people who will cast a ballot in this primary.

27:50

It is not a large number. Look, and I even hesitate to say this. If I were a Tennessee voter, I suspect I would vote for Monty Fritz or John Rose in this primary because I tend to vote for the underdog in primary contest. But it is a hyper-motivated, hyper-passionate. but relatively small number of people who interacts with each other all the time online. And I've been in it before a couple of cycles, and I can see it, and I'm on the outside. I have no horse in this race, so to speak, in the race for governor. I think that any of these candidates would be better than, say, Bill Haslam of old, Tennessee has for a long time nominated squishy moderates from East Tennessee. And I think there are other options. And I think that of the three candidates running generally, they're all going to be pretty good if nominated and elected. I think all these candidates are really good. Let me ask you this question, Matthew. You follow politics far closer than I do. John Rose. is demanding that Marsha Blackburn released the findings of a Senate ethics probe. The accusation was that this was a whole Channel 5 thing. I'll go into some detail here in a little bit, but the accusation was that Marsha Blackburn had used Senate staff for campaign-related work. Of course, as you know, that's not allowed. The Senate staff is being paid for with taxpayer dollars. They're not allowed to do campaign. related duties. And so apparently there was actually an investigation, and we don't know what the investigation found. John Rose is demanding that Marsha Blackburn released the findings of that Senate ethics probe investigation. We don't really know how bad it is, but I mean, how... Is it, you tell me, because I don't know, is this a nitpicky thing or could this be something serious? Does this happen all the time? I seem to hear about this kind of thing from time to time. Well, a candidate is going to make an issue. They're going to see which issues stick. And especially if you are the second or third place candidate in a primary contest, you're going to try to what they call punch up. This is a serious issue. There is a very clear delineation between official staff and campaign staff. Now, some official staff will take time off or, you know, take a leave of absence and go work on the campaign, especially somebody who, you know, Mars has been in office for a long time. I suspect that there's people who work in her D.C. office or in a district office in Tennessee who have volunteered or worked on her campaign. It's the same with, say, your state legislators, the legislative aides who work in Nashville probably also go and knock doors for their boss around election time. But this is something that if John Rose is making this an issue, he's going to see if this sticks. And Marsha Blackburn could do one of two things. She could release.

31:02

and confirm or deny what the allegations are, confirm that those allegations are true by releasing the report and it reveals they're true, or she could ignore it, and that seems to be what she's doing on the campaign trail, ignoring any of the attacks, and hope that it goes away. If a critical mass of people at events or call her office or any of those things make it an issue, then she may feel compelled to respond. But for each candidate, they want to run on their message. And for Marcia, her message is not answering John Rose's questions. It's not answering Monty Fritz's questions. And so that is the calculation that she's made for this particular issue. And, you know, it could hit a critical mass where she responds, but she might not. So do you think that it will ultimately be in her favor not to debate? Because you and I've talked about this before, but I mean, at the end of the day, when all the dust is settled and we know who wins the primary regardless as to who it is, I guess it just depends on if she wins or loses. But, you know, if she wins, then is it yet another indicator that if you are up in the polls, you don't debate? Well, it is absolutely that indicator. Look, if I were in Marsha's position and I saw the poll numbers and I was going to win according to the polls with 63% of the vote or something, I wouldn't be inclined to debate. I would say, oh, I'm meeting with voters. I'm meeting with them at private events and so on and so forth. So I think that is it is only when the criticism reaches a critical mass. where she has to make another calculation. Otherwise, her goal is to stay on message, to reach voters on her terms, and to get those voters out to the polls between now and election day and primary day. All right, Matthew, we've got like 60 seconds left. Did we miss anything? I think that we've got a lot. There's a lot going on. I just would say it's hot out there and make sure that you stay hydrated. We've got a heat wave up here as well. And so it's so important that folks drink enough water and pay attention to their health. But other than that, Dan, you can find me on X at Matthew Hurt, M-A-T-T-W-H-R-T-T. All right, very good. Have a great day. Have a great week. And we'll talk to again soon. Matthew Hurt on Super Talk, 397. The WTN. All right. So Jay Jones got the news coming up at 7. Joan. Yeah. Coming up here, the Pentagon has identified two of our soldiers killed over the weekend fighting in Iran. We've got that story coming up at 7 on Super Talk 997. WTN.
