Wow. The American left is emboldened. The Democratic Party. They're feeling their oats a little bit after the election back on Tuesday. And I got to tell you, some crazy stuff happening here just since yesterday when I was sitting in. For Dan O'Donnell on the Dan O'Donnell show on News Talk 1130 WIS. And it's Jason Gotts. I'm here on a Friday. Great to have you aboard in early November with you for the next three hours. You can always catch me on social media on X slash some of you know it is Twitter. So we'll give the old name to. At Jason Gotts, G-O-C-H is my Twitter handle. Of course, we're on News Talk, 1130WISN, and W-I-B-A-1310 AM in Madison. We'll have the Fall Fortune Cash Contest word for you. A little bit later on in the hour, I know everybody liked to win a little bit of money with Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Christmas season coming up to the holiday season. A little bit of money, never heard anybody, especially when you can win it on the radio. So we'll get you that word in a little bit. But first things first, the shutdown continues. Flight's being canceled all across the country. Flight delays all across the country. Do you remember hearing all these years, and I'm not that old. I'm a middle-aged guy. Let's get my pretty... Pretty young, I'd like to think of myself as in the new terms of how people are classified if they're middle age or youthful or a senior citizen or the elderly people out there. I'm never close to that. So I don't have all that experience, but I have a lot of experience. And I've always heard the Democrats are for the government workers. The Democrats are for the little guy. That's what they've always told me. Total lie. Not true. But that's what they say. That's what the mainstream media pedals to me. And now we're in what? Day 38? of the government shutdown. And the Democrats, Chuck Schumer earlier this afternoon is on the Senate floor. He is the Senate minority leader. Chuck Schumer is not the Senate majority leader. The Republicans hold the U.S. House of Representatives. They hold the United States Senate as all the informed listeners to this radio station or these radio stations. No. And of course, President Donald J. Trump is a Republican. So it's a Republican trifecta. in the U.S. Congress and presidency. Yet Chuck Schumer is acting like he's in charge. He's on the Senate floor earlier this afternoon saying, oh, we'll open up the government. We'll go ahead and vote for a continuing resolution if you throw $1.5 trillion for Obamacare in there and you continue to negotiate on other things. You say you'll give us a good faith guarantee. You'll negotiate. On other things. So they get their $1.5 million for the Obamacare subsidies. And so it can go to the states and they can funnel that indirectly to the illegal aliens. Main constituency of the Democrats. We saw that on Tuesday night with Zohran Mamdani winning. I mean, hey, the Democratic Socialists, what do they tell us? They say they want non-citizens to be able to vote. Main constituency. Don't have to be a citizen in the United States. Heck, just run across the border and vote. So you got to take care of that constituency if you're Chuck Schumer. But are they reading the room correctly here?

3:07

Are they reading what happened on Tuesday night that the entire country has repudiated President Trump? His policies, the policies of the Republican Party, as we know him in the Trump era, what happened just a year ago in 2024, the cost of living is it all being blamed on President Trump and the Republicans. People are just done with the ice raids. People apparently want men and women's sports, because that's been a big issue with the Trump administration, protecting women's sports. People apparently want chaos. throughout the world, not peace in the Middle East, not peace between India and Pakistan and all kinds of peace treaties being or peace deals being negotiated out there. Apparently, people don't want any of that stuff. They want the chaos of the Biden administration and the Democratic Party. on the agenda once again. That's what the Democrats are telling us. Now, I want you to hear Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut. He's one of the worst out there. I mean, this guy is as hypocritical as it gets. He was on with Jenny Saki on MSNBC, and he had this to say after the election. I think it would be very strange after the country just came out and rewarded Democrats for finally standing up and fighting for our values to then give in to Donald Trump and cease fighting. Donald Trump said this morning he doesn't want the shutdown to continue. And so it's probably just a matter of time before he's in a discussion with Democrats about how to end the shutdown and protect people in this country from these massive health care increases. that's overly optimistic, but we should at least wait a few days to find out how he's going to react to this thumping Republicans took last night. He found it so funny. And he's laughing with Jen Saki. They think they're back in charge. They think they hold all the cards. In reality, this guy, Chris Murphy from Connecticut, said in 2023, there should be no government shutdown. A clean CR should be passed through the Congress. Of course, the Republicans held the House at the time the Democrats had the Senate. And, well, I don't know. Was Joe Biden president? I guess he was in name only. Whoever ran the auto pen would have signed off on the stuff. But in reality, Chris Murphy is as big a hypocrite as you're going to find. Because less than two years or about two years later, to be exact, he says the exact opposite thing. Because the Republicans have advanced a clean CR over a dozen times to try and move this shutdown to an end. And Chris Murphy is filibustering that. So what he wanted two years ago to keep the government running, he says, no, no, no, no, no. We're not in charge, but we're going to demand $1.5 trillion, a lot of that to go to illegal aliens. We're going to demand other things that.

5:51

would negate what President Trump passed in the big beautiful bill. They want a lot of spending to be added to a CR that would be passed through the House and then the Senate. And keep in mind that the Democrats really. They're playing a bait and switch here because all the things that would be in that CR funding, they originally agreed, that's okay, let's do it. That's stuff that has passed. All we're doing now is funding the government if they can get that through. It's things the Democrats actually agreed to when things have been passed through the House. They didn't filibuster. And in the Senate, they didn't filibuster this stuff. So all they're doing is saying, we won this election in their minds, this blowout election. So now we're going to be able to dictate public policy. And I give President Trump. and the Republicans, they came, look, Lindsey Graham's been out there today. A Mike Johnson Speaker of the House said this is a no-go. They're not going to do this. Look, if the Chuck Schumer shutdown, it's clear, a lot of it had to do with the elections in New Jersey and Virginia. And what happened? The Democrats did very well. They think this encapsulates the entire mood of the country. They couldn't be further from the truth with that. And I would add... I mean, I'm watching last night. I'm sitting there and I'm watching a replay the five. And Jessica Tarlov, who's the liberal on the five, she believes this stuff. God bless her. It's a free country. She has a right to do it. But she's crowing about how Democrats, this is just a blowout. This is a repudiation of Trump. And she starts naming the things that happened. Look what happened in Virginia. Look what happened in New Jersey. Those are blue states now, folks. Now, we can talk about the turnout and the blowout margin in those states. There's no doubt there are some issues there. But this does not mean that people in Kansas and Nebraska or Wisconsin are going to turn out and put Democrats in office by double-digit margins. And then Jessica Tarloff went to where I said yesterday, Jason Gotts, when I was filling in for Dan O'Donnell, if you want to know how ridiculous these people are in reading these election results, they bring up this Georgia Public Commission race. Jessica Tarloff goes, look what we did in Georgia. A Georgia public commission race, two of them were won by the Democrats, with 19% turnout in the state of Georgia. Nobody knew who these people are unless you were tremendously informed politically. Nobody turned out. You get a midterm turnout of at least 50% in Georgia, maybe higher, maybe even close to 60%. So there's no way that is any type of bellwether on what's going to happen in 2026 and beyond. It's not any type of indicator any more than when a Republican, I believe it was a 2022 just before the midterms. They had a special election in Ohio. It was just north of Columbus. So the Columbus X Burbs in some rural area. A Republican should have won it by like 15 or 20. Ended up winning it by like four or five. They're like, see what's going to happen in the midterms. The Republicans are going to do terrible. It was right after the Dobbs decision overturned Roe versus Wade.

8:54

The regular election came and the Republican won by like 15 or 20. So you get the idea. They're reading too much into these election results. And good for the Republicans for standing firm here. I understand there are functions the government needs to fund. You need to have air traffic control funded. You need to have the military funded. There are essential elements to the government that need to be funded. But there's no way when you have a trifecta you give in to these democratic demands. There's no way the Trump voters in the state of Wisconsin want you to give in and give $1.5 trillion to illegal aliens so the government can open. That's the Democrats running the country and not the Republicans if that happens. That's the inmates running the asylum, so to speak. The order and what gets passed should be dictated by the Republicans with a little bit. You got to give and take a little bit. There's no doubt about that. But not to this extent. Now, if you think that Chris Murphy is delusional, this is Senator Ed Markey. And let me set this up by telling him about Senator Ed Markey. He is from Massachusetts. He's an older guy. I want to say he's about 75. But he's not Joe Biden. But he is all in on becoming a far leftist. If the Democratic Party moves two steps to the left, He moves five steps to the left because he always has young people in that party trying to challenge him for that Senate seat. It was one of the Kennedys did it last time he was running and got completely refudiated because this Ed Markey character went so far to the left. Ed Markey on MSNBC yesterday, crowing about the election. They would be totally wiped out. We would not only win the House of Representatives overwhelmingly. We could very well win the United States Senate as well. That's what happened on Tuesday night. There's a complete underestimation by the experts of how angry the American people are right now. Their health care prices are skyrocketing. Their electricity prices are skyrocketing. The price of food is skyrocketing. The price of clothing is skyrocketing. People went to the ballot box, but they voted with their pocketbook. These are kitchen table issues. And Donald Trump and his economic policy were completely repudiated. on Tuesday night, across the country, across all demographics, and across all of expert opinion. It just did not see this happening. And so, yes, this is a preview of coming attractions for the Republican Party if they refuse to come back and talk about health care, talk about affordability, talk about the issues that the American people really care about. Talk about health care for illegal aliens, $1.5 trillion. This guy's delusional, too. Okay, so this wasn't a national election.

11:48

We just talked about that for five minutes. It was local elections in a couple of states and then a few other states like Georgia had this power commission thing that nobody knew about. So this is this was in no way a repudiation of President Trump's policy. Now, are there, there are there issues out there that the president needs to work on? Yeah. The affordability thing, Walmart says Thanksgiving dinner is going to cost 25% less than it did last year. Now, there are still issues from the Biden Inflation Reduction Act and the printing press they ran in 2021 and beyond to print money up. And oh, what happens when you print money? Of course, you're going to inflate the price of things and more money in the system, the price of things going to go up. It's going to take more than nine months to fix that, 10 months. President Trump spent in office for 10 months now, a little over 10 months. So you look at what's going on in the country, and he couldn't do anything when he was the president-elect. He had to take over and actually be the president, and he had to pass these policies. The big, beautiful bill didn't get passed until July 4th, I believe that was signed on. So you... You get the idea. It's going to take time for these policies that the president has put in place to take effect. Now, are there things they can still do in the next year? Yeah, there's still things. There's a lot of work to be done. But the idea that everybody's repudiated to Trump is really insane. What's going on here is this. Okay. The Democrats are asking for too much. And the question is, will the Republicans give in? Now, this is where you should be very happy President Trump is in power. Because if these were the old school Rhino Country Club Republicans, the Bushies, the people from yesterday, oh, they would have gave in by now. I mean, bad press. Are you kidding me? Bad press on the big three TV networks on CNN. In the New York Times or the Washington Post, oh, they would have gave in a long time ago. But they're not going to, I don't think, because President Trump realizes what's the point of giving in right now? The Democrats had their election. They had their Chuck Schumer shutdown. They won in these selected areas. So what's the point of giving them the satisfaction that, hey, they shut the government down. They juice the turnout in Virginia, New Jersey, tons of government workers in Northern Virginia that obviously didn't like this shutdown. And they leaned to the left or are far left anyway. They blame it on President Trump. And what happens, you get to now the Friday after the election, what's the incentive for President Trump to give in? There's none. What's the incentive for the GOP to give in? There's absolutely no reason to do that. And thankfully, they're not going to. Now, we'll see because I've heard all these years, like I told you at the start of the segment, Jason got you in for Dan O'Donnell, that the Democrats are for the government workers. They're for the little guy. They want to make sure, you know, they want to make sure those people have an equal playing field. I keep hearing about oligarchs. Ma'am Donnie is against the oligarchs. And then there's a picture of him with George Soros' kid. Who's a big supporter? Really? Against the oligarchs? You're with Soros' kid? Come on. Who are you lying to there, ma'am, Donnie? But that's what they say. And who's getting hurt by this? Government workers aren't getting paid. That's part of their constituency, a big part of it. The air traffic controllers, obviously very important people. We appreciate what they do. They're not getting paid. The military.

15:05

They're doing everything they can to try and pay the military, but that's running lower, running out. So you get the idea. Congress is getting paid. But these groups of people aren't getting paid. All you got to do, Democrats, is honor the continuing resolution, open it up, funding that you already agreed should have been made or should be made in the future. You already agree to that. That's all the Republicans are trying to do right there. It's past the CR, open the government. But the Democrats are playing hardball. We'll see how long this lasts with Chuck Schumer and company. Now, when we come back, I am going to get to some redistricting stuff because Gavin Newsom's out of his mind too. As usual. But I want to talk about how the parties have changed because there's two directions you can go with the electorate. And the Republicans have really flipped over the last 16, 17 years at where they're at. And the Democrats have too. Which lane would you want to be? And we're going to talk about that. I got some fun stories coming up to. Later on in this show, I'm going to take one of the biggest career risks in the history of media. And it's not even a political topic. I am going to throw it out there. And there is a possibility that people lined up with pitchforks. Management, they did Mike break in the door and say no, no, no, no, you can't say that. It's not even political. I might have as many leftists on my side on this topic. as people on the right. It's possible. We'll do that a little bit later on. Also, some other fun stuff to mix in. Crazy store out of Chicago. Total lie about ICE. We'll talk about that. Lots to do. Jason Gotch in for Dan O'Donnell. News Talk 1130 WISN. Also on 1310 WIBA in Madison. And when we come back, we're going to get you that fall fortune cash contest word right after this. And I know it's going to be rainy, some snow in the forecast as well. Hope you find something fun to do. November is one of the craziest months, at least for me, because you can get the 50s and 60s, and then you can get the 20s and 30s, and I was going to plan the yard work around the better weather, and you're trying to put up the Christmas decorations. That's always something I enjoy doing, but I put you in a good mood to have the Christmas decorations up, maybe a little too early for some people, but not for me. I'm okay with putting the Christmas decorations up a little bit early before Thanksgiving, because it's a lot of work getting the stuff in my yard to do that. So if they're going to be out there, I'm going to enjoy him a little bit longer. And if the neighbors look, hey, why does that guy have the Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving? Hey, you know what? Just enjoy it.

17:30

Because you only get the Christmas stuff up for about a month and a half of the year. It is Jason Gotts again. In for Dan O'Donnell. This is News Talk, 1130 WISN. Also 13.10 AM, WIBA and Madison. Let's get you that fall fortune cash contest word for this hour. Lots of winners here on WISN and on the radio station. So we want you to be one of those people as well. Here it is. The nationwide keyword this hour in the fall fortune cash contest is bank. You have until 55. minutes past the hour or 355 central time to go to news talk 1130.com or w iba.com and enter the word bank to enter the contest for this hour. Good luck to everybody out there. I hope you earn some holiday money by winning that contest. Now, I want to get to what I mentioned before the break. We'll get to Gavin Newsom's insanity here in just a couple of minutes. But the big question for the Republican Party, and I'm not trying to. put rose-colored glasses on what happened on Tuesday because President Trump has focused a lot on foreign policy the last few months. The job market is still tough out there. There are still affordability issues. I don't deny that, especially in places like New York City, but there's a lot of regulations on how you can build things in New York City, which make things a nightmare as far as expanding housing there. It's not going to happen overnight. Inflation is down. The price of things in the store largely, a lot of that stuff has gone down or stabilized. But let's face it, the way it skyrocketed in early 2022 to 2024. People are still feeling the effects of that stuff. There's no doubt about it. I mean, the salaries did not increase at the same rate as inflation. So it's easy for some to scapegoat the president. You know the left's going to do it. But I think there's a lot of Trump voters. I mean, I think if you put people who voted for Donald Trump. out there and you interviewed him sure some might be a very few of them would be i think have turned on him i think the what they're doing right now the voters is they're giving them a wait and see attitude in most places but new jersey and virginia are not the rest of the country new jersey is a plus 15 state almost every presidential cycle, not this last time, but Harris and Biden were terrible candidates. And Virginia has trended left since Barack Obama won it in 2008. No Republicans won there have been within four points. So those are now blue states. But a bigger question is, is we go into 2026, especially right here in Wisconsin. I mean, this is ground zero. This is as purple as you can get. This is a state that is almost always decided by a point or two either way. getting Republican voters to the polls will be the biggest challenge or independent voters that lean right or getting the conservative message, populist message out to the people here in Wisconsin and throughout the country and turning those people out. Because I think what we have right now, and I'd rather be in the GOP position than the Democratic position. So if you go back to the Obama presidency.

20:36

You know that Barack Obama turned out in 2008 and 2012 a whole heck of a lot of people that normally wouldn't vote. Those people came out of the woodwork, hoping change. Oh, it was a fraudulent message and it never happened, except change for the worst. Look at Obamacare. It made the health care system a lot worse than it was previously. But that was the message in 08 and Barack Obama got a record number of votes. college graduates and the GOP constituency was really about not having high turnout and winning elections. The turnout wasn't as great in 2010. It was on the GOP side, not on that casual voter side that came out for Obama. The GOP did quite well. 2012, the Mitt Romney Coalition, that was the same coalition pretty much as McCain, win Ohio, win Florida, when Virginia, you win the election. They didn't win any of those states. They had a high college graduate turnout for Mitt Romney in the GOP's favor. What happens 2014, lower turnout for the Obama people. They don't come out. The GOP wins again in the 2014 midterm. Fast forward to 2016. All of a sudden, Trump is changing the GOP coalition. You have a lot more working class voting for what became President Trump and his campaign. You have a lot more people of color voting for. the GOP giving them a chance. And then in 2018, the Democrats do quite well. President Trump wasn't very popular. But in 2020, even though President Trump didn't win the election, the GOP constituency of historically democratic voters, not a majority of them, but a lot more of each of those segments votes for President Trump, working class people in particular. Doesn't win in 2020. But 2022, the GOP does pretty, they do okay in the midterms. The Democrats hold the House. The GOP gets the, the Democrats, I'm sorry, hold the Senate. The GOP gets the House. Then in 2024, you saw a complete realignment, the realignment being complete. The Democrats have high propensely voters. They have the college graduates. They have a lot of wealthy people. They have the people who will crawl across broken glass to vote. The GOP doesn't anymore. They have the people who show up for President Trump and not always show up for everything else. They're not worried about the Georgia Public Utility Commissioner race. They're not worried about the local school board race. They're not worried maybe about the county commissioner race in Virginia. So they're not turning out to the extent that you saw in the past from GOP voters because it's a new coalition. So the question for the GOP is, and the question really... going forward will be, what is better to have as your coalition? The high propensity college graduates, there aren't as many of them, and the maybe not completely affluent people, not the billionaires, because there's not many of them or the millionaires, but the six-figure income people who used to vote Republican and now they vote Democrat. Those people are now firmly in the Democratic camp and they vote. The Trump coalition, the GOP voters, it's hard to get them to the polls. Now, there's good and bad with what I just said if you're a conservative voter. The good news is you're going to do very well in presidential elections because people vote for president. Now, the question is, will they come out for?

24:07

the GOP candidate in 2028 if it's not President Trump because a lot of these people are Trump voters first. But I think they will because the Trumpism will still be on the ballot in some form. But they're not going to come out maybe like you would hope they would in 2026 unless the GOP figures out a way to get them to the polls. That is the big challenge. That is the lesson from this election. It's not that people have turned away from the populist ideas of the president, lower taxes. Fiscal responsibility, a closed border, protecting women's sports, conservative justices on courts. I mean, things that are historically popular, less government, so to speak. Peace. deals throughout the globe. That's not as much an issue for voters when they come out unless there's impending violence involving. Maybe we have to get involved into a war. That might get people more involved in foreign policy. But right now it's more domestic policy. But the big challenge is for the Republican Party, you have to get those lower propensity voters out. That's the lesson, I think, from the election. And I know they had decent turnout in at least Virginia actually had decent turnout. And so did New Jersey, but not to the extent you need to win a midterm election when the Democrats are going to turn out. They're going to be motivated. This is historic. When you have the, when you don't have the presidency, you are the party who does really, really well usually these midterm elections. And the Democrats now have the high propensity voter. So the big challenge for the GOP is getting those voters out and the conservative message out. But the good news is in 2028. I'd rather be in the GOP camp than the Democratic camp because a lot more people vote that normally don't do in these off-year elections. Again, Jason Gotts in for Dan O'Donnell. If you want to follow me on X at Jason Gotch, G-O-C-H on that last name spelling for my Twitter slash X handle. Now, let's get real quick here to some redistricting stuff. Gavin Newsom, Proposition 50. He is saving democracy. Go. It was not just a victory tonight. for the Democratic Party. It was a victory for the United States of America, for the people of this country and the principles that our founding fathers lived and died for. And so we're proud. We're proud here in California to be part of this narrative this evening. We're proud of the work that the people of the state of California did tonight to send a powerful message to an historic president. Donald Trump is an historic president. He is the most historically unpopular president in modern history. That's just a flat out lie. Joe Biden's numbers, by any credible poll that was taken, the last few years of his presidency, specifically the last two, were well below Donald Trump's numbers. There have been presidents of each party that have had numbers at this point in their presidency or at some point in their presidency. much below the numbers of Donald Trump. Most polls, he's pretty close to even. Some, they got him down. There's a few double digits. He's down. There's a couple. He's very close to even. The government shut down probably not helping with those numbers right now. But overall, Trump's presidency has been pretty stable with the approval rating and the disapproval rating being pretty close to even. So Gavin Newsom, just a total lie right there. But throw that one out because the bigger issue is redistricting. This.

27:44

Why that they keep repeating that they are saving democracy, specifically in California and blue states when they redistrict. It's total nonsense. It's not true. And I have the facts and numbers to prove it. Let's go to California where they are redistricting now, and they're going to draw out five Republican seats. Prior to this vote for Proposition 50 in California, last year in the presidential election, not counting the president line on the ballot, but the congressional line statewide in California on the ballot, if you're voting Democrat or Republican for Congress, the GOP had 39% of the vote in the state of California for Republicans for Congress. They actually increased their vote share from 2022 there. So they did pretty well for California. Yet they lost three house seats, and they only have nine of the 43 seats in the U.S. House in California currently. Does 43... Out of 52 or 9 out of 52, better way to say it, sound like 39%. No, California was incredibly gerrymandered before this. And now they're going to draw, they're going to have four Republican seats in California when they got 39% of the vote the GOP did for U.S. representatives in the last election. That's 17.5% of the seats in California for 39% GOP voters. In Connecticut, 40% of the people voted for the GOP. in 2024 for Congress, zero out of five representatives for the GOP in Congress out of Connecticut. New England, they don't have any in New England. There's none. You go through the New England states, there's not one GOP representative from any of those states. How about our friends down in Illinois? And you want to find bad government just go south of Russell Road. You'll find it. You can find it for 400 miles as you drive through the state of Illinois, south when you hit the southern border that state. In Illinois, 46. 0.97% of the House vote in 2024 went to the GOP, almost an even state. Illinois's map for Congress looks like your kid or any kid you would find drew with a crayon on the state of Illinois. It looks so crazy their congressional map. It's 14-3 Democratic. 82% of the seats are Democrat, 18% Republican, and the Republicans got 47% of the vote. the last election for U.S. House in the state of Illinois. So don't tell me, we could do New York, too. We'll do it after the break. I got a couple seconds here, but we'll continue this after the break. But don't tell me, Jason Gotts in for Dan O'Donnell, that the Democrats are saving democracy. They started. this redistricting, they started this gerrymandering game. And the idea of the redistricting, all it was doing was bringing things fairer to true representation of the vote. I'm going to explain that on News Talk 1130 WISN and 1310 WIBA right after this. Here at News Talk 1130 WISN and on 1310 AM WIBA in Madison. It's Jason Gotts for Dan O'Donnell.

30:57

Find me on social media on Axe at Jason Gotts, G-O-C-H on that last name spelling for my Twitter handle. We're going to get to the redistricting stuff here in just a minute, but it is football season, and this is going to play into where I'm going with redistricting. Offense, offense, offense. That's different from football. Football defense does matter. You got to have a defense if you're going to win in football. I mean, look, I know the Chiefs have been great in recent years. Packers have been very good. They haven't gotten to the Super Bowl. But you look at teams that win Super Bowls. In sports, in general, even in basketball, defense matters. Baseball, the Brewers played very good defense this year. Defensive teams do well in sports. Now, it's the exact opposite in politics. Sports? They used to say offense wins games, defense wins championships. And it's true. A lot of sports is about defense. And defense is a hard thing to play in sports. You don't, everybody wants to hit in the batting cage. Nobody wants to shag fly balls to the extent you have to do or take ground balls off the chest when you're playing baseball. You want to go in the batting cage and hit. In basketball, you don't want to do those slide drills through the gym. You want to shoot three point baskets. In football, you want to be on offense. You don't want to be on defense. Football is the one game. though, where defenses at can be kind of fun. But in practice, you're not, I mean, it's not the same thing as playing offense. But. In politics, it's exactly different. And this goes right into redistricting. And politics. The Republicans and the conservatives have historically been terrible on playing offense. They play back on their heels and they play defense. And that's why a lot of times they don't win not only elections, but they don't win battles to define the future of the country. Sometimes they do, thankfully more under President Trump. But historically, it's about caving to the Democrats and caving to the media. But this goes right into redistricting. I want to give you a few more. numbers here before I finish off the thought on redistricting. Texas, where they keep telling us in Texas. Oh, my goodness, Texas is, they're violating democracy by redrawing the lines mid-cycle. First off, there was a voting rights issue in Texas with the Voting Rights Act, where they possibly were going to have to look at that again. It turned out they weren't going to have to, but there was talk they were going to have to look at redistricting, so they did to get ahead of the game. Also, in Texas, with the old lines, 58% vote for the GOP in the last election for U.S. representatives throughout the state of Texas. They only held 65.8%. of the seats in the state of Texas. They had a 25-13 GOP majority, which exists currently. What they passed, they would pick up five new seats, and it would be ideally for the GOP, if things go the way the lines, you would expect them to go with the voting patterns. 30 to 8, 30 Republican reps, 8 Democratic reps, 79% of the seats. Now, I know if I'm throwing a lot of numbers at you, but the point is this, the new Texas lines.

33:53

are not even gerrymandered as much as the old Gavin Newsom lines with the quote unquote independent commission. Gavin Newsom state as it was before Prop 50 passed, only 17.5% of the seats were held by the Republicans. In Texas, you're still going to have 21% of the seats held by the Democrats. And the GOP vote in Texas, very similar to the Democratic vote in the last election for... the majority in California for U.S. rep, 61% for the Democrats in the last election, statewide U.S. Representatives, U.S. House, 58% in the state of Texas. So Texas, and also Texas had a ton. I mean, a ton of people moved down there because of the insane COVID rules passed in these blue states. You want to be a teacher? Get 55 booster shots and your initial COVID shot. Wear your mask all day. You want to be a citizen arts that you're going to wear a mask that you can breathe through. And that's going to save COVID. That's going to save you from COVID. Gavin Newsom even said he was the one who had the video in the restaurant. Oh, eat your food. Eat one bite. Put your mask up. Oh, I didn't know the COVID virus was so nice that it took a break when you started eating your food and breathing in and out. It's COVID said, oh, we're not going to, I'm the COVID virus. I'm not going to go into the air. I'm going to wait until you pull up your mask because I'm a nice virus. It's how dumb these people are like Gavin Newsom. I mean, see, he actually said that. So people moved out of California. They moved to places like Texas and Florida. And they moved to Tennessee and they moved to a lot of red states because they didn't want to deal with the COVID regulation. So you have a different electorate in a lot of these states that are going to redraw the lines. Now, the response to Gavin Newsom is this. Florida, redraw your lines. Five new seats in Florida. Tennessee or I'm sorry, Indiana. Indiana is hedging. Redraw your lines. Draw the Democrats out of that state. Ohio. Look, my wife's from the state of Ohio. I like the state of Ohio. It's a bunch of rhinos. They could have a 13-2 map. They just agreed to an 11-4 map because they played nice with the Democrats. And Ohio had a redistrict, too. They actually had to by law because they didn't have a unity map passed after the 2020 census. So they had a redistrict. But, hey, Missouri got... Plus one it looks like for the Republicans. North Carolina did it. Kansas might be able to do it. Kentucky might be able to wherever you can do it, do it because they're trying to break the law in Virginia and trying to draw four Republicans out of the U.S. House the next cycle. The Democrats never play nice. I will give them credit they play offense. They play offense and they never stop playing offense. Even when they don't have power, they act like they're the party that has the power with this shutdown. Chuck Schumer demanding on the House other than the Senate floor today that you've got to give $1.5 trillion for health care, i.e. funnel to the...

36:48

illegals. They don't play nice. It's time for the populace, the conservative movement, the GOP, stop playing nice. Redraw the Democrats out anywhere you can. Gavin Newsom, you decided to play hardball. Let's one-up him and play offense if you're the GOP. That should be the mindset. Let's see if they have the guts to do it. It's Jason Gotch, in for Dan O'Donnell. Back with more right after this. W.IBA and Madison, the Democrats' celebration over the election on Tuesday night. It reminds me of a point earlier in my life when the GOP was out in the wilderness. It was early 2012. It was the Scott Walker recall election. I was living in Chicago at the time. My then-girlfriend, now wife, also was living in Chicago at the time. We lived in different neighborhoods, but still. It was the heart of Obama madness, and Chicago never repudiated their, well, adopted son, because we all know Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, not in Chicago, but Chicago claimed him, of course, for their own. But so when Scott Walker was running in that recall, And he won that recall. We drove up to Walkershaw for the celebration of Scott Walker winning that election at the Scott Walker victory rally. And you know why we did it? Because it was a, well, we were very happy. Act 10 was one of the best pieces of public policy ever enacted in recent years. And we really appreciated that Governor Walker was breaking through the left wing madness that had captured the country for the last, you know, three plus years before that recall election. And he withstood it. So we wanted something to celebrate, so to speak, and we did celebrate it, and that's kind of like how the Democrats are celebrating things. Although Scott Walker was a lot more important than the Georgia Power Commission people, but still, you get the idea. Maybe they're just so down in the dumps. They need something to rally around, and they're inflating what actually happened on Tuesday. Alarming story coming up in our two. We welcome you back on a Friday afternoon. It's Jason Gotts in for Dan O'Donnell here on News Talk 1130 WISN. Also 1310 AM WIBA in Madison. You want to hit me up on social media on my X account at Jason Gotts. G-O-C-H is the way to do it. It's always good to win money, but especially during the holidays when those presents and the Thanksgiving dinner bill can add up even though this year the Thanksgiving dinner bill. according to Walmart, not just President Trump, according to Walmart, it's going to be 25% less.

39:46

than last year when Sleepy Joe was in charge. Biden was sleep and he wasn't even eating Thanksgiving dinner. He woke up at 11, probably put a lid on it by 1 o'clock and didn't even get to see any of the football on Thanksgiving. Who knows if that was actually the case, but wouldn't surprise me from the Sleepy Joe era. Now, we'll have some fun stories a little bit later on in the hour, including when I take one of the greatest career risks you ever heard, and you'll understand why when I explain it. It's not even a political issue. But before we get to that, on a more serious note, Down in Chicago earlier this week, some alarming statements from two members of Congress regarding an illegal alien that worked at a daycare center in Chicago that thankfully was apprehended by ICE after she attempted to run away from law enforcement officials. Now, I'll get you the full story, the real story on this, but the narrative... In the national media and in the Chicago media, and pretty much probably if this happened anywhere, it would be the narrative because the media, the mainstream media just lives to distort the truth. and try and do anything they can to cater favor or push the agenda of the American left and the illegal alien. They love open borders. I don't know why. I don't know how they can think a country can survive that way. But they love the idea of an open border and everybody gets free stuff when we know there's no such thing as free. Somebody has to work for what is being given away. It has to be produced somehow. People don't do stuff for free unless they volunteer. We love our volunteers. But the world can't. run on just volunteers. But anyway, down in Chicago, illegal alien attempts to run away from ICE. She works at a daycare center. And normally, you would think an illegal alien who is running away from law enforcement and then is captured, that would be a good thing. But not in the eyes. of the politicians down in Chicago and also specifically a couple of U.S. representatives down in Chicago. The first one is Mike Quigley. Go. They can say they aren't targeting a daycare, but that's where they were this morning. And the person they targeted had legal documentation. So let's just pull back a second and remember one other thing. They're supposed to be going after the worst of the worst. If they're now trying to tell us that what's left of the worst or the worst is a document, someone with papers who is educating kids at a daycare, then I think everything they say comes into question. What he said is almost completely not true. First off, the person had papers temporary work permission given by the Biden administration, but that does not make you legal into the country. Just because Joe Biden decided to skirt the law and give people who were here illegally temporary position or permission to work and allow them to be in daycare positions apparently.

43:00

That does not mean that they are legal at that point that they have legal status. They are still illegal aliens and subject to deportation. And this person also was in a car that they owned that someone else was driving and they fled from ICE. The person ran into the daycare center when ICE told them to stop. So right there, crime is being committed. You're fleeing law enforcement and your temporary work permit that Biden gave you. Guess what? That would be revoked because you can't have any criminal record. So I don't know what Mike Quigley's talking about except trying to protect what he thinks are his future voters, illegal aliens that they eventually legalize. Now here is, you think he's bad. Delia Ramirez is also a U.S. representative in that gerrymandered Chicago area like Quigley, they go into the city and then they go out to the experts because the Democrats actually in Illinois do a very good job of gerrymandering. They have it down block by block. Well, they will a way to disenfranchise all the Republican voters and empower all the Democratic voters and have an unfair gerrymandered map. They did it a lot. quicker than Texas did it, or before Texas did it, and it's still more gerrymandered than the new Texas map. But that's beside the point. Deli Ramirez, if you don't remember this over the summer, she made a comment in Spanish. Again, an elected U.S. representative that takes the oath to serve the United States as an elected representative nationally in Congress. She made a comment in Spanish where she said, I am a proud Guatemalan before I am an American. Think about that. She is Guatemalan, a proud Guatemalan before she is an American. Now, the correct thing would be to say is, I'm an American of Guatemalan descent, but I am an American first, especially if you're in the government. But not this person. She is loyal to Guatemala before the United States, which she represents in Congress. You thought Quigley was bad? Let's hear Delia Ramirez. We need to make sure that people understand that these businesses have rights and that we are going to do everything we can to help them uphold those rights. Those agents not just rushed in. They went in other rooms. Sorry that I'm stuttering because I'm still living the footage that I saw. They didn't just walk in chasing one person. They went into multiple rooms asking and looking for teachers while children were present. Okay, I want you to hear also Mike Quigley apparently speaking for me, you and the American people. Let's go back to Quigley because he had the nerve to say this. Someone should apologize to the kids, the parents, the staff, the teacher on behalf of our country. I'm sorry that you're going through. Here's why these, well, there's a million reasons these people tick me off to no end, and they should bother you to.

46:05

But do they ever apologize when Lakin Riley gets murdered by an illegal alien? Do they ever apologize when Kate Steinle gets murdered by an illegal alien? Do they ever apologize when any American citizen? gets harmed by an illegal alien. When we get that accident in California where multiple people were killed by some illegal alien driving with a California driver's license, did they apologize for that? In Illinois, just in the last couple weeks, in the rural part of the state, East Central Illinois, a couple was killed, rammed in a car by an illegal alien driving. Did they apologize for that? A suburban father from the Chicago area was in Congress earlier this year. His daughter... was killed in a car accident in Champaign. That's the home of the University of Illinois. I don't know if she was a student there, but she was college age. She was killing the car accident. The father said, J.B. Pritzker, the governor, other representatives of the state didn't say anything to him. He at least expected his father of them to say, hey, I'm sorry for your loss. No, no, no, no, no, no. They care more about criminal illegal aliens than they will ever care about American citizens. They think of you as an American citizen as second class people. to illegal aliens because they see illegal aliens as their meal ticket to a one-party system in this country where they get the riches and you get the spoils and you ain't getting much. But let's talk about the real story what happened here. Okay. Because they pretty much got everything wrong when these two representatives spoke. I set the record straight on this and I don't know about who you believe. But I believe ICE before I believe these people. Okay? So the person captured was someone by the name of Diana Patricia Galino. She was encountered by Border Patrol on June 26, 2023 when she illegally crossed the southern border. Of course, the Biden administration said, hey, maybe a future voter. Let her go. So they let her go in the country. And just last month, this Galino woman reportedly paid for smugglers to illegally bring her 17-year-old and 16-year-old children into the United States via the southern border. Facilitating human smuggling is a crime. That's what ICE says, and that is actually a fact. did do that, which she is accused of doing, that would definitely be a crime. Two children did enter the country illegally near El Paso, Texas, and that was back in October. Apparently, they believe that those were her children. Now, ICE, they say ICE targeted a daycare. Ice did not target a daycare. They attempted to pull over a vehicle, her car, driven by another person. The car kept going. She ran into the daycare center, where she worked.

48:56

They barricaded themselves both people inside the daycare center. And this woman was arrested in the vestibule, not in the school, according to the assistant secretary for Homeland Security, a woman by the name of Tricia McLaughlin. Also, they claim, those people, you heard it, Ramirez and Quigley, a bunch of other people claiming, and residents claiming they targeted a daycare center or school, they didn't do that. Obviously, you just heard, there's no dispute that there was actually a car chase here, and they got these people in the, they're claiming in the school, ICE claims in the vestibule. Also, ICE. claimed against a claim against ICE, they arrested illegal alien, the illegal alien in front of children. Ice says they did not do that. They did that in the vestibule. Who cares? I mean, look, when I was a little kid, I remember we were driving somewhere. It was driving on a parent somewhere. There was somebody on the side of the road, they'd handcuffs on him. I was like, well, let's go. Let's watch that. I'm like, you know, sixth grade or something like that. Oh, let's watch that. My dad's like, no, we keep going. Look. If somebody's breaking the law, you don't say, hey, there's kids there and we can't arrest them. No, it's the exact opposite. You don't want the people around kids. I mean, seriously, do you want your kids around people who are in this country illegally and also running from the law enforcement authorities? No, you don't want your kids around those people? Are you kidding me? And the final point that ICE makes here, I already touched on this, but this woman was in the country legally with employment authorization, and it says work authorization does not confer any type of legal status. The illegal alien's work authorization was approved by the Biden administration, which exploited a loophole to facilitate the invasion of our country. And again, you're not legal just because you've got a work permit. So, okay, you've got a work permit, fine, but you're illegal. You can't be in the country. Now, one more thing about this, and this really should infuriate you. on a bunch of different levels, but I think most importantly, because these Democrats, these far left-wingers that have hijacked the Democratic Party. And as much as I didn't like Bill Clinton, he was for enforcing the border. Heck, in Obama's first couple of years, he was enforcing the border. As much as I didn't agree with those guys on 99% of what they did, they were right on that. Yeah, you have to have a border to have a country. And you talk about affordability and housing. When you bring all these people in here illegally, what does it do? The demand for housing goes up. The supply goes down. Supply and demand, basic economics. So the Democrats want to talk about affordability, especially in housing. Look at their illegal alien problem. You get rid of the illegal aliens, put them back where they came from because they're in here illegally send them back to their home country. And, whoa, there might be a little bit of solution there to the housing crisis that we talk about with the prices being so high for rent and the prices of homes as well. But there was a mom, I think, here. Somebody connected to this story that was quoted.

51:51

Yes, actually, Maria Guzman, who's a parent with children at the school, she spoke at this press conference too, and she said parents want their kids to have access to diversity and access to other experiences. That's what this country was founded upon. We are a country of immigrants, and it is absurd and horrific that they now have targeted our daycare center. Now, to Ms. Guzman. With all due respect, okay, maybe you're buying into what these people say. And it's, look, it's easy to fall into the trap of what elected officials say when they lie to you. It's easy to say, oh, no, they're elected officials. We vote for them. We have to believe what they say in the media, too. But the idea that parents want their kids to have access diversity and access to other experiences, this is what the country was founded upon and we're a country of immigrants. Fine, how about legal immigrants? If that's what you want now, for my kids. What I want them to be able to read, write, excel academically, be exposed to American history, great, glorious, and the tragic parts of it too. I want them to be able to manage money when they're adults. I want them to understand economics. I don't care who's teaching in that as long as they're legal citizens and they're good standing people and they're not criminals. But if she wants access to diversity and access to other experiences, that's fine. But they've got to be legal in the country. They can't be illegal aliens by nature. I mean, by fact, those people are violating the law. And they, people ask me, well, how many should we kick out? You know, and I say every one of them. They're here illegally. Why are we, and I always say this, I have a lot of left-wing friends. And I say this, let me throw this around you. You go to a grocery store like I do. We've probably been to the grocery store together at some point over the years, friends of mine, especially ones I went to college with. Did you like it? Would you like to have already cut in the line at the grocery store and we were waiting in a long line? Well, no, no, nobody should cut. Well, why are we rewarding these people who cut in line? That's what they're doing. They're cutting in line. And there are a lot of good immigrants in this country. I am not anti-immigrant. I am anti-illegal immigrant. I respect the people who do it the right way. They come in here legally. Some of them are family of mine. I respect that. They're loved and appreciated. They contribute to the country. Not these folks. No, no, no, no, no. They're by nature cutting in line and breaking the law. And the only reason the Democrats rally the troops around these people, these illegal aliens, is because they see them as the ticket to a one-party future in America where, again, they control the levers of power. They are the victors. And for the rest of us, We're eating crumbs, and we get the leftovers, and that would not be a good thing. It is Jason Gotts with you, in for Dan O'Donnell, News Talk 1130, WISN, 1310 AM, WIBA in Madison, the Fall Fortune Cash Contest Ward when we come back. And we're going to actually open up the phones, too. And I think we're talking about, you're welcome to get in, the advent knows.com talking text line 414-7991130. Again, 414-7991130. But on the specific topic, I'm abreast. about to bring up. I know I'm going to get people frustrated with me on this one, but you know what? That's the job of host. You've got to give your opinion and give it in a strong manner. We'll talk about all that right after this. Great to have you aboard. It's Jason Gotch in Ford, Dan O'Donnell News Talk 11.30 WISN. 1310 WIBA in Madison.

55:19

Lots more to do, including, it's going to be a more fun segment. It's going to be a fun segment. Some of you might not like me anymore, but that's okay. Got to take a risk. But first, before we do that, the fall fortune cash contest for the hour. The nationwide keyword this hour in the fall fortune cash contest is when you have until 55 minutes past the hour to go to newstalk 1130.com. or WIBA.com and enter the word win to enter the contest for this hour. So again until 455 p.m. Central time to get that done. And we wish you the best of luck. Hope you can pick up some cash for the weekend. That would be a nice way to start your weekend. Now, Mark writes the show and he says, they're not only cutting in line the illegal aliens. They're getting free food and free groceries. He's right. That's true. I mean, some places they get the SNAP benefits. They, you know, they can't from the federal, but the state's somehow funneled money to them. Sure, of course, of course. I mean, you got to give your illegal aliens free stuff. I mean, how else would you get them to vote for you? I mean, Chuck Schumer is keeping the government shut down. He wants $1.5 trillion, he says, not billion, trillion for Obamacare. And you know some of that money through the states gets filtered out. Some of these states, they authorize illegal aliens to have health care. So they funnel that money. The old shell game moving the money around. If you're at the airport listening on the stream right now and you're in line, you're like, why am I waiting this line? What's going on? Security's long. My flight's delayed. Well, hey, Chuck Schumer, got to get the illegals. There's stuff before we open the government again. That's your Democratic Party looking out for you. Now, before we get back to some of the political stuff. I do want to mention this, and I bring this up because it really does frustrate me, but in a fun way, because I know I'm only about 5% of the population. They're 5% to 10%. The other 90% is going to be against me on this topic. Very controversial topic. And it involves the clock. Daylight savings time. We just flipped back this past weekend. We turned the clocks back. So we're back on standard time here in Wisconsin and most of the country's on standard time until early March. And every time we get to the time change. You have so many people saying, I can't stand daylight savings time. And I cannot stand daylight standard or a regular standard time. So I don't want central standard time anymore. I want a permanent daylight savings time. I don't want to be flipping the clocks back. Or I hate daylight savings time. Keep it on standard time. And it delves into a debate. Some people say standard time is better for your natural body rhythm. If you kept standard time year round, it'd be getting dark here in Wisconsin like 7, 7.30 at night most of the summer. You wouldn't get 8.39 o'clock daylight if you kept standard time. You'd get more, and you would have a lot shorter nights in the summer to do things in daylight. But some people say it's better for the natural rhythm of the body. You've got to do it that way. It's a health issue. Then you have other folks.

58:36

And I think this is a larger percentage of the population that say, no, no, no, no, no, no. We need permanent. daylight savings time in this country. Why are we driving home from work in the dark at 5 o'clock at night in December and January? We could get home from work. We could have a little daylight left. Who knows? Sometimes nowadays, even in the upper Midwest, sometimes in December and January, you get teased with a 45, 50-degree day. You go outside after work, take the kids out in the backyard, maybe some snowballs left over, have a good snowball fight in the daylight, walk the dog, do whatever you do. We got to have permanent daylight savings time. Why are we flipping the clock back? We have to do it. This is so insane that we got to get this done. And it passed a few years ago, I believe unanimously through the Senate to go on permanent daylight savings time. And it got nowhere in the House. But it was unanimous. Democrats and Republicans coming together for permanent daylight savings time. Well, guess what? I hate to rain on the parade, but I am in that 10% of people that actually loves the current system. If it is not broken, don't fix it. And what do I mean by how is it not broken on Mr. Gotts sitting in for Dan O'Donnell? How is this not broken? I mean, you don't want to come home from work at 5.30 and have daylight? You don't want to come home from work at 5.45 and have some daylight in January and February? No, no, I don't. I prefer my daylight in the morning in the winter. Now, I know some of you're going to laugh at this because I've seen it on social media. First off, the kids going to school. Do you want them at the bus stop? at 7.45 in the morning and it being pitch black. Okay, let's say you don't have kids and you don't care about the kids. Okay, that's your opinion. You don't have to. It's free country. But do you know how hard it is to wake up when it's dark? It's not an easy thing. 6.30, the alarm rolls, you know, you're rolling out of bed and it's pitch black outside. And you're driving to work in the dark. It's not getting light until 7.30, 8 o'clock, maybe 8.30, depending on the time of the winter. Do you really want that? I don't. Maybe if you're a shift worker, you do, it corresponds more to the hours that you keep at work and you keep it for most people. Do you want that? And we tried this. Do you realize we tried this one time? I believe it was 1973. It was in the early 70s. They went to permanent daylight savings time. You know how long it lasted? Not even a year. They repealed it within a year because so many people didn't like it for the reasons that I'm saying. So sometimes in life, don't fix something that it isn't broken. And you know what? I'm going to go even further here. And if you want to jump in on this, you can do so. The advent knows.com talking text line is open. 414-799, 1130. Do you like the current daylight savings time setup where we go to standard time in the winter? Do you like the way things are? Or?

1:01:37

Would you prefer to have permanent daylight savings time or prefer to have permanent standard time? Now, let me make the pitch why the current system is so good. And here's the reason why. Because for eight months of the year, we get daylight savings time. And the Republicans, again, give the Republicans the Gingrich Republicans in the 90s a lot of credit. Daylight savings time used to end before Halloween. And it used to start up later in March. So it was a shorter window. The Republicans, common sense, said, hey, you know what, why don't we start it in early March when the weather starts to get a little warmer? And why don't we end it after Halloween so the kids can go trick-or-treating a little bit later? I took my little ones trick-or-treating. And it was like to like 545 the other day last week. Back last week to the day, last Friday. It was great. And they're little. I wanted to keep going. I was trying to encourage them as the good dad that I am saying. You have to go trick or treat till 7 o'clock when the hours are done. It's heart and desire. I was giving to my freshman basketball coach. Heart and desire, fourth quarter. You got it. My kids are like, we want dinner. We walked around for two hours. We're done. Hey, you got, you know, they rule on Halloween. It's a kid's holiday. But you get the idea. It's perfect. You go through Halloween. You get through November, December, January, February. They're cold months. We don't need more daylight in the winter in the evenings to sacrifice what we would put up within the mornings, getting out of bed in the dark, and putting the kids, if you care about the kids, which I do. Even before I had kids, I cared about kids. I want the kids to be able to wait for the school bus and the light. It's just better, I think. The way the system works, I'm sorry, flipping. The clock. One hour in March and one hour in November. I hear, oh, the stress of your body. Are you kidding me? The stress on your body. Have you never stayed up late on the weekends an hour? Have you never slept in an hour? Come on, losing one hour sleep in one hour, please. There are very few people. Tom Brady's the only guy can remember. Tom Brady. would come out and he went to bed at like 7 o'clock every night and he got up at like 5 in the morning. He had this perfect system for his body he thought that would help him play longer in his football career, played at least 45. But most people adjust their sleep schedule. And that's the way, it's an easy thing to do. Now, let's go out to the phones. The advent knows.com talking text line, 414-799, 1130. It's Mark and I believe, is it Sheboygan? Yeah, Mark and Sheboygan. I appreciate the time. Welcome to the program. What's up? Hey, thanks. I really love this topic. I am a fan of standard time. Always. No daylight. No spring forward. Just stay on the back. Back is good. I love that. Okay, but let me ask you this. I'm going to keep you on here, Mark, because here's the thing I have against the permanent standard time. Do you really want the summer when it's 90 degrees or 80 degrees in the day and then, you know, you get those nice 70-degree nights? Do you really want to lose your daylight at like 730? Because that's what you would do. You'd be losing daylight 7.30, 7.45.

1:04:50

Yeah, you know, I don't care. I think your argument was a good one at the beginning. You want your daylight in the morning. The fallback gets your daylight in the morning, right? Yeah, it does. No, absolutely it does. And I appreciate the phone call. Thanks for checking in, Mark. All right. Yeah, no, that's a good point, you know. But I do want my daylight when it's warmer. I should specify that. I like my daylight when it's warmer. And... In the winter, too, or in the winter of the days are naturally shorter. In the summer, the days are longer. Even with flipping the clocks forward, in June, you're getting daylight at 5 a.m. So you're still getting your daylight in the morning by flipping the clocks forward. in the summertime. You still have good daylight in the morning. Keep that in mind. The days are longer based on how we're circling the sun. Let's go to Kathy next in Milwaukee. Kathy, I hope you're having a good Friday. Welcome to News Talk 1130 WISN and 1310 WIBA in Madison. First of all, I love you. You have a great show. Thank you. Secondly, I'm on your side with the main reason is because, okay, I've got kids, I've got grandkids, kids, blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't want kids, especially in this day and age, standing out there or walking to school in the dark. I just don't. No, that's a great point. You know, we make a lot of laws, don't we, Kathy, to protect kids? I mean, we really do. And that's the main reason. Yeah, no, that's a great point. Thanks for checking in. Look, I agree with Kathy. And really, for a lot of people, too, let's expand that to people who walk to work. Let's expand that to people who are maybe just going somewhere to start their day. It might not even be work. Do you really want to start your day in the dark? Do you really want people in a rush hour walking around in the dark? No, I don't want that. So the permanent day, and we tried it. That's a key point, too. We tried this in the early 70s. There was a massive revolt. Congress was much more amicable back then, even the Nixon second term. So they got together, they repealed this thing. I mean, we tried the permanent daylight savings time. People really forget that, and that's a major thing. I mean, I know there's generational differences, but let's be honest. This is one that might be one that transcends generations. People for a reason, your natural inclination is to have more light in the morning and the summer want more daylight to enjoy your summer nights. Look, we're in Wisconsin. There's not all that much to do. after work during the week in Wisconsin at night, except indoor activities because it's too cold. So what do you need the daylight for? Let's continue on the phone lines. We'll go next to Jamie, who's got some thoughts. Jamie, what's on your mind? It's Jenny, but that's okay. I'm sorry, Jenny. I think I'm blind. I apologize, Jenny. Let's get your name right. Jenny, what's on your mind? Yeah, I'm with you. I want to keep it the same.

1:07:53

And for really silly reason, one, like when we get to that extra hour, for like three days, I'm feeling refreshed and I can feel like I earned an extra hour out of my life or something. And then also you can drink an extra hour at the bus. I love it, Jenny. Thanks for the phone call. There you go. Jenny likes that extra out. She loses the hour in March. But she gets the hour. She appreciates that extra hour in early November. I appreciate it because I get an extra hour sleep. I do. I used to work years ago when I did sports radio. I used to always have to work the time change because there was problems with the computer and I understood how that worked. There was always problems with the time change when I did sports radio in the overnight hours years and years ago. So I would have to work and I would always say I'm losing that extra hour sleep. But then when I progressed out of that position. I liked my extra hour asleep back, and I can understand, hey, in the winter, start the November, have a cold beverage on the weekends, an extra one, you know, start your cold beverage consumption a little bit earlier, maybe go to the bar during the week a little when it's darker outside, no doubt about that. It's easier. You don't have to, hey. Can't cut the grass. It's getting cold. Can't rake those leaves when it's dark. I'm going to go out with the coworkers for a cold one after work. That's always a good thing, too. Appreciate everybody on the phones. We're going to take a quick time out. It's Jason Gotts in for Dan O'Donnell. News Talk 1130 WISN. Also 1310 WIBA in Madison. When we come back, I've got a... Quite the contradiction story for you, how the legal system works. And it's not in a good way. We'll talk about that right after this. And AMW, IBA, and Madison. It is the Dan O'Donnell Show. It's Jason Gosh filling in on a Friday. Great to have you aboard for the ride. How many of you have heard this over your lifetime? Truth, justice. and the American way. I mean, that's as American is Chevrolet and Apple Pie, right? Well, maybe not the justice part anymore. Story from ABC News 12 in the nation's capital. Man who threw sandwich at federal agents found not guilty of assault. And actually this story they posted was through CNN. It was updated yesterday. The man who threw a subway sandwich at a federal officer in the early days of the Trump administration's law enforcement surge in D.C. earlier this summer has been filmed not guilty of assault. The incident became a symbol for resistance in Washington against the Trump takeover of law enforcement. And it led to internet jokes and memes about the incident. Federal jurors were shown several videos of a man, Sean Dunn, yelling at officers before throwing a subway sandwich at one customs and border protection agent before running away and being detained shortly thereafter. In one video...

1:10:53

The person who was charged here and acquitted, Sean Dunn said, I was trying to draw them away from where they were. I succeeded. Dunn's legal team celebrated this acquittal. Jurors deliberated for seven hours on the one charge. Dunn's attorney, here's the key part. Dunn's attorney did not argue over the facts of the case, but rather focused on whether the sandwich throw was enough to constitute an assault of an officer. The officer was hit with the sandwich, told jurors that colleagues had given him gag gifts about the incident, and Dunn's attorney capitalized that and said, oh, his coworkers think it's funny, but still, think about what happened here. So you had a person throw a sandwich, which sounds a little bit funny. Oh, he just threw a sandwich. But he hit the officer. And that's not disputed. It's just whether that constitutes an assault charge. I think... If you threw anything at a law enforcement officer, even if it's not going to harm them, I believe you would be charged in most cases you would be convicted. But this is the D.C. court. And in the D.C. court. If you're ICE, if your law enforcement connected to Trump, if you're conservative, you think you're going to get much of a fair shake there. Do you really think you are? You think James Comey's going to get convicted in D.C. for being anti-Trump? Although the left hates him too because they think he sabotaged Hillary. But you think what the Justice Department does in political prosecutions, and I mean that not because they're politically motivated, but in political cases, political figures. You think they're going to get a fair shake in these D.C. courts? I mean, it's on tape. He threw the thing at the guy, and you know what? He admits he did it, but it didn't rise to the level of assault. Now, compare that to people who are just walking around the Capitol, January 6th. Just walk through the open door and how they were thrown in the Gulag, D.C. jail. And they were, I mean, their lives were wrecked for walking around the Capitol. But, hey, as long as you throw stuff at the right law enforcement like Customs and Border Patrol, you're fine, apparently, in the minds of the D.C. jury. Certainly they have a right to do that, but I also have the right to be skeptical of what kind of justice you're going to get in the D.C. courts if you're a conservative or if you're ICE or Border Patrol. Now, contrast that with the ruling last year. from the federal judge on the abortion protesters in Arlington, Virginia, where Lauren Handy, who was 30 years old, was sentenced to 57 months in jail for blocking the entrance with others to an abortion clinic. And the judge in that case said that the activist, this is Colleen Colar Cotley, she's a far left-wing judge, she said that this woman,

1:13:53

who was sentenced to 57 months in jail for blocking the entrance of an abortion clinic showed no caring or sympathetic gestures at all. Now, the cynical me says, boy, how about sympathetic or caring for those unborn babies that were going to have their lives ended that day, Judge? But regarding the law, do you really think blocking the entrance peacefully to an abortion clinic is worth almost five years, 57 months in jail? To a federal judge, they think that that punishment fits the crime. Are you kidding me? People are celebrated for blocking the highway in this country. As long as they do it in the name of anti-Trump. You can block the highway. You can block whatever you want to do. You can shut down whatever you want it, as long as you're anti-Trump. But if you do it because you're pro-life, you get 57 months in jail. Now, luckily, this woman was pardoned by President Trump. But you get the idea. Do you think that's justice in the D.C. area? Guy throws the sandwich. He gets acquitted. You block the entrance. He actually hits somebody with that sandwich. But you block the entrance to an abortion clinic peacefully. You get almost five years in the clink. Thankfully, President Trump overruled this judge. Pardon to this woman. Common sense prevailed. But President Trump wasn't in an office. Pretty scary what would happen to that protester. And I don't know. Truth justice in the American way. That doesn't sound like justice to me. It is Jason Gotch. In for Dan O'Donnell. More right around the corner after this. In Madison, here is something to celebrate. This is from the Department of Homeland Security. Came out earlier this week back on Wednesday with these numbers to be exact. According to the Department of Homeland Security, we have had 1.6 million self-deportations and another 500,000 people deported by ICE. 2.1 million people illegally in this country are either deported by ICE or they deported themselves. Regardless, that's something to celebrate. And yes, American left. I know you listen. I voted exactly for this. This is exactly what I voted for. President Trump delivering right there, the Department of Homeland Security. Now, I think we've got to get that number higher. I'd like to move that decimal point, 2.1 million. Let's move it a little bit to the right. How about getting 21 million people deported before the Trump administration ends its term in 2029? Because that's about how many illegal estimates were... or illegal aliens were estimated to come in the country under Joe Biden under some people. So, hey, they came in. They ran across the border illegally, came in some other way. Guess what you do? Yes, send them right back. And if they don't want to self-deport, ICE can do the job. That is exactly what I voted for. Now, next hour, you're going to hear some Democratic voters in their own words. Scary stuff. Eric Holder tells the truth about what's going to happen with the filibuster at some point. And would you clone your pet? I have my... answer on that. Well, happy Friday to one and all. It is Jason Gotts. In for Dan O'Donnell News Talk, 1130 W-W-I-S-N, 1310 a.m., W-I-B-A in Madison. Great to be with you, starting off your weekend. Many of you probably driving home from work, or maybe you just got home, or maybe you're wrapping it up at the office. Regardless of where you are at, we are glad you were with us here on the radio. You can find me on social media. My X handle is...

1:17:13

at Jason Gotch, the last name I always spell it because it sounds like it should have a T. It does not G-O-C-H on that last name spelling. So Jason Gotch is where you find me on X slash Twitter or get my thoughts on and off the show on that site. Now. A lot to do this hour. We're going to have a fun topic a little bit later on. Would you clone your pet? And there's a reason that I'm going to bring up that story. Also, some actually good news out of the courts. I can't believe we don't get good news out of the courts very often. But we got some good news out of the courts. Get to that a little bit later on as well. Mix in some of your thoughts on the phone lines later on about cloning your pets and anything else we've been talking about. But before we do that, So last night, I'm watching the Raiders and the Broncos. The Raiders, like they say in those NFL films, videos from the 60s and 70s when the Raiders were actually good. They've been a train wreck for a long, long time. But I'm watching this boring football game. I mean, the Broncos were bad. I mean, they're actually a good team. They played down in the competition. The Raiders were awful. So I'm sitting there doing some show prep for today's show. No one I'm feeling in for Dan again again, again, again, again. So I'm doing some show. prep as I watched this awful football game. And I stumble on Breitbart. And they had a very interesting headline and story. It was real long. I'm not going to, I can't read the seven-page article on the radio because you're driving home. You'll fall asleep. You can't do that on radio. So I have to, as host, I have to summarize the points. And the article talked about how Brooklyn, the heart of the Zohran Mamdani Coalition, has. So many issues going on for workers there and Zohran Mamdani voters, instead of closing the door to these people and saying, these are crazy left-wing, loony communists, the Republican Party and populism needs to do what Pat Buchanan did in the early 1990s, appeal to the disaffected Rust Belt worker when the economy did not change for the better for a lot of blue-collar workers, especially in middle and small-town America. I mean, that's when... The steel industry was struggling even more than it was. The textile industry, those jobs were being exported overseas. I mean, where they were making dresses in North Carolina, they weren't doing that anymore, making clothing. I mean, you had a whole group of people. The coal industry over the last 20, 30 years, has died out in West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky. A lot of people disaffected by that, and a lot haven't recovered. And the article talks about how AI and other forces. are disaffecting young people from the economy in Brooklyn and in New York City and don't close the door on these folks. Like, hey, let's appeal to them. Let's talk about communism is not the answer. There are other ways. Lower taxes, less government, creative economic opportunities, building a business, managing money, rent controls in New York, not being the answer. They've had those for years. This guy wants more of that. It's not going to work. It never has. Rent controls don't work. It's just not something that it works to bring the rent down long term. It doesn't help people build more units of housing in that area because they don't want to be subject to rent controls. So that's the gist of this article.

1:20:29

And I'd like to, look, in theory, it's a great ideal, and I think you should try and appeal to everybody, try and convince people. But there's a segment of this country, and you look at the way Brooklyn voted. I mean, I got it in front of me right here. 84% of women 1829 in Brooklyn, New York City, not just Brooklyn, New York City. They voted for Zohran Mamdani. Now, to me, that is indoctrination. at the school, high school, but especially the university level. There is such pressure to be in that left-wing cult. If you're not in it, you're not accepted, especially in a lot of these big cities in the country in the northeast. Chicago, L.A., the same way, San Francisco. But you look at people who lived in New York. Less than five years, 85% of those people voted for Zohran Mamdani. New Yorkers who were born there, only 38%, 49% of those people voted for Andrew Cuomo. So that's people either move to New York City or immigrants who became citizens. I'm not going to say illegals voted there. I know Zohran Mamdani's that's a part of the Democratic Socials platform. They want illegals to be able to vote. Non-citizens can vote. Anybody can vote. But I'm not going to accuse that of happening here. I didn't monitor the New York elections, but what I'm saying is, They're appealing to, I think, an immigrant population that comes in, you promise them free things, you promise them things that they don't have, and it's appealing to them. And also, the far left-wing agenda pushed at the universities in this country, when you think about how that has gone down, sadly, for generations, there's pressure to be a part of that group. Now, young guys are really rejecting that. And there's a lot of reasons for that. I'm not going to get into that right now, but there's a lot of young men are really, especially in the high school and college level, are really rejecting radical progressive politics. But the women, not yet. Hopefully someday they will. Not yet. They're on board with it so far. But when you say you're going to appeal to these people, it's a noble goal. But let me introduce you to someone who is protesting in D.C. this week. They have all these. progressive groups have united. They're protesting in D.C. They're going to do it True Veterans Day. And this is a TikTok video from a... person by the name of Serge Philly. He normally goes around Philly and interviews people on the left, but he went down to D.C. for this, and he interviewed a person who was dressed in an anti-Trump's shirt, and she had this to say. Why are you out here protesting? My name is Michelle, and I'm out here protesting because I'm against fascism. Okay. What is fascism? Fascism is the... Words hard. Fascism is the authoritarian... Why are we so hard right now? Sorry. Fascism is an authoritarianism that is about focusing on one demographic, right? So it's... I'm out of breath now. It's...

1:23:32

Taking over and excluding the people, excluding smaller demographics. It's washing opposition, right? So it's a regime that takes over for themselves and not for the actual people. This is supposed to be a democracy that is for the people, but this is just for them, and that's what fascism is. What did she just say? Is anybody out there? Does anybody out there what? She has no idea, with all due respect to this woman, she has no idea what she's talking about. She is out there protesting Trump, protesting fascism. She can't even define it. She just, that was a word salad that would make Kamala Harris proud. That's how bad that was. I mean, she has no idea what she's talking about. She doesn't know what fascism is and she's protesting Trump. And then she's saying it's not, there's no democracy here. What is she talking about? Donald Trump not only won the electoral college, she won the popular vote. But this is what we're up against. How do you convince someone like that? And in defense of this person. who was interviewed, she probably consumes left-wing media nonstop where they parrot these points, whether it be MSNBC, whether it be left-wing blogs, whether it be left-wing social media, left-wing, TikTok, whatever it is, where they throw out these code words, fascism, democracy, they can't explain what they mean at all. She just proved it right there. She doesn't even know why she's out there. You don't know what fascism is. If Donald Trump won the popular vote in this country and the electoral college, how is that fascism? He won. She can't get it through her head. that more people are on the side of Trump, President Trump, than they are her side. That's why he won the most votes in the last election. Now, I want to take you to, this was back on Monday. It's right before the election. This is Harris Faulkner show on Fox News. She interviewed a Democratic voter in New York, who talked about the issues that are important to her. Go. I want to go to Amanda, a Democrat among us today. Talk to me about what you're hearing from an independent and a Republican now. Do you see any common ground? Sure, absolutely. I mean, the issues are always the same, right? I think what's really important in standing out for me right now is if we can take ourselves like a high level, like not say immigration, not say economy, not say all the hot talking points, and just ask ourselves, how are we treating our neighbors? Like, how are we treating one another? And is it okay that yesterday, on Saturday, 42 million of our neighbors no longer can feed themselves? Is it okay that our neighbors are getting taken off the streets?

1:26:14

by ICE. Is it okay that gender affirming care is being taken from young people who really needed to survive? See, I don't think she's voting based on economics. I don't. I don't. And I'm not saying don't try and peel to her. Look, I always say there's always a door open that you should walk through. If you can have a conversation, a civil one with somebody to try and articulate your points in a kind and positive way, but don't back down. But did you hear what she just said? 42 million people don't have food benefits. Whose fault is that? She's in New York. It's Chuck Schumer's fault. The Chuck Schumer shutdown. He shut the government down to try and juice the Democratic turnout, especially in Virginia and in these blue states. That's why there's no snap benefits. The Republicans have advanced the... continuing resolutions over a dozen times and voted for them. The only one hold out is Rand Paul, and I like Rand Paul, but sometimes he's just, he's out there in space. Second thing she talks about there. She talks about our neighbor, be kind to our neighbors. I'm sure maybe on her lawn she would love to have hate has no home here. And she would have the be kind with the bumblebee and all their other little catchphrases. But what does that mean be kind to your neighbor? There's no substance behind that. She's not being kind to her neighbor because her neighbor who's an American citizen, if they are, are in jeopardy based on her next statement where she's upset that ICE is doing the job that the American people. want them to do in all the public polls, they want the border controlled. They might have the ICE question because the way the media frames it, sometimes people do say they want the border closed, but they don't want ICE to use the tactics they're using. But when you're going after illegal aliens that are running from you, what are you supposed to do? But she doesn't think about the American citizens that are in danger of criminal illegal aliens. And the gender affirming care thing, I don't even know what to say. I mean, the idea where they came up with, they always do this with the language. Und Documented immigrant. No, it's an illegal alien. They don't have documents because they're in here illegal. They didn't forget their driver's license when they're driving on I-94 and say, oh, I left it at home. I got my, I'll have my wife send her, or my parents send a picture on the, on the phone, and you can see it's me, officer. No, they don't have papers because they ran across the border legally undocumented immigrants. Give me a break. And this is a gender affirming care. All that is, is, in my opinion, sexual mutilation of children. If you're an adult, I might not agree with you. If people want to do it and somebody's going to, then there's nothing I can say. I would not encourage you to do that to change genders. But if you're an adult, you can do what you want to do. Kids, we don't allow a kid to smoke a cigarette in this country to learn 18 or 21. You can't even drink a beer until you're 21. But at 14 years old, you can say, I'll make a life-saving decision. I'll make a life-changing decision.

1:29:13

A life-changing decision to remove my private parts for the rest of my life. At 14, I know what I want. Because somebody in the school is saying, have you ever thought, let me ask you this question. Have you ever played with a doll at any point in your life and you're a boy? Oh, yeah, my sister's got the doll laying around. So I used to tease it. Oh, but I think there's something deeper there. student i think you should be able i think you really are have you ever thought about becoming a woman have you ever thought about that oh have you ever can we give you some papers and it sent you to do another counselor about that sure you don't think people are pushing people to do that who are young are you kidding me because there's money behind it there's money behind the gender changes for kids transing kids there's money behind that they can make a whole lot of money doing that kind of stuff so If you're an adult, you can do what you want, whether I agree or not. But kids, absolutely not. It's off limits. Kids do not have the mental capacity to make that life-changing decision to mutilate their genitals for the rest of their life. But why I played that was that Voter that Breitbart talks about in the article, the Breitbart site, I don't know. They're not voting just on economics. That voter talked about gender affirming care, as she calls it for kids, ICE, and also. The food stamp slash snap benefits. That's what she talked about. And that's a government program. And the first person doesn't even know what fascism is. There's no idea. What's a fascist? I have no idea. So it's going to be a lot. Look, you never stop trying, but the more important thing I think for the conservative movement and for the base is this. The Republican Party, I said an hour one, I want to repeat it for anybody joining us late in the show, Jason Gotts for Dan O'Donnell, is the Republicans do not do a good job getting their base out to vote except in election years for the presidency, and that's largely because there's Donald Trump. You have to find a way to get your people out to the polls. Base elections are really what the country is. It's really kind of unfortunately devolved into that. The idea you're going to talk over the fence to your neighbor and convince that person, maybe in some cases it's worth a try, but the odds are it's not going to happen. It's not like the old days. You've got to be able to turn out your base, and that is a big reason why you win elections these days. And I hope they can get through these voters, but I don't, I don't hold my breath saying that somebody who wants those things that is marching against fascism that they can't even define is going to all of a sudden say, hey, you know what? I'm voting for Donald Trump. But stranger things have happened. I'm going to vote conservative. Stranger things have happened. Don't stop trying, but don't count on it either. Now, still to get to in this hour, lots to do. I'm going to throw this out there right after the break. I want you to think about, there's a famous person who is cloning their dog. Would you clone your pet? If you want to jump in on this, advent knows.com talking text line 414-799, 1130. Would you clone your pet? I'll tell you who that famous person is. Got some filibuster talk, too. I want to get to my thoughts on the filibuster and what's going to happen if the Democrats ever get a trifecta presidency and the House and the Senate again. And also some good court decisions we're going to talk about, yeah, the courts actually got it right. It's a miracle. All that more. Gotts for O'Donnell back after this.

1:32:34

Good luck on that contest. entry hope everybody gets a chance to get in and hope one of you wins that money for the five o'clock hour now if you want to jump in again i'm going to throw this out there would you clone any of your pets the advent knows dot com talk and text line is 414 799 1130 again 414 799 1130 the reason i'm bringing this to the table on a friday is because Tom Brady, this was revealed earlier this week, that Tom Brady, former NFL star with the New England Patriots and later he won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he has revealed that his current dog, whose name is Junie, is actually a clone of his former Pat Lua, who passed away in December of 2023. Brady welcomed the dog right after... The death of his previous dog, he has only just revealed, though, the connection between the two pets. This was a People magazine story, and Brady disclosed that Junie came to life by using Loua's blood during the cloning process, which was collected before she died in 2023. And the story talks about Brady saying, I love my animals. They mean the world of me and my family. A few years ago, he worked with the company, and he. worked with them to clone his dog. He says the biotech company gave his family a second chance with a clone of their beloved dog. He said he's excited about how things came together and how this can help families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species. And this was the dog, the original dog who passed away in 2020, who passed away. That was a dog that Brady had... acquired with his ex-wife, Giselle Bunchton. So Tom Brady clones his dog. What are your thoughts? Again, if you want to jump in 414-799, 1130, I have a strong opinion on this one. I would actually, and I know some people out there, look, we love our pets. My dog growing up Bosco, he's 16 years old. He was a great dog. When we lost him, I was 27 years old. We got Bosco when I was 11 years old. So he saw me through junior high, through high school.

1:35:29

through college, into the working world, he really was a great pet. I mean, I had so many, I have so many fun memories of him. I still got pictures of him up. I still talk about him. My wife gets sometimes sick of hearing about him because I still talk about him. My wife and I have had a couple of dogs together. We currently have a dog. I love every pet that I've ever had. But I just wouldn't do it for a number of reasons. I worry about number one. The idea of your playing God. Where does this lead to it? At what point do you start to clone people? And what does that actually turn into? I mean, it's the slippery slope argument. You're cloning pets, then you're cloning people, then the idea of the local animal shelter. And if it happens with people, you know, people, kids who, there's so many kids who need to be adopted. There's obviously a ton of pets that need to be adopted. This is one of those things where I think they're going to get the short end of the stick, too. So. From that perspective, I wouldn't do it. Another perspective for me is I don't think the personality transfers. Maybe it would. Maybe it would. Your personality is sure part of it's your genetic makeup. But also a lot of it, I believe, is your life experience. I mean, how often do we hear, and I believe this 100% true, how often do we hear that children do better with two parent families? And that becomes controversial, but it's the truth. Look, I know it's not realistic. For everybody. You have spouses who pass away, parents who pass away. You have parents where one of them does a real bad thing and you have to find a way to get a divorce or an old of the marriage, whatever. So it's not always realistic. But in an ideal world, yeah, you'd want to have two parent families for children. That's the best environment because that helps their personality develop and helps them become successful adults. And for better or worse, I guess it's a good thing in a way, but it's also a sad thing for the kids that don't have that. They tend not to do as well as the parents that are into parent families. Now, there's exception of these rules, obviously. If you're a... product of a one parent family. You got single mom, single dad, raising those. A lot of those people become super successful. And on the other side, they're great parents who the kids, they, somewhere that something went wrong there, or they went wrong later in life, whatever the case may be. But my point is, personality comes, in my opinion, a lot from what you, what you come from, where you come from, how you lived your life. And I think the same thing for a pet.

1:38:12

So I'm not necessarily sure. I mean, Brady likes it the way this went down for him. Apparently, it's been a good experience. But I think a lot of people say, hey, you know, the dog I had as a kid, we're going to save that blood. We're going to go ahead and clone that dog. Well, that dog's not going to be the same dog. Dog might look the same. Dog might have the same genetics, but the dog necessarily isn't the same dog because maybe the dog is a kid. You went in the backyard. You threw the ball around all the time with that dog, and the dog played fetch perfectly. And then later in life, you're living in an apartment. You keep that dog in an apartment. You don't play fetch as much. Well, isn't that dog the same dog? Doesn't have the same personality because it doesn't have the same life experience. So if you want to jump in 414-799, 1130, we've got some other stuff to get to. But I thought this story was interesting for a couple of different reasons. First off, do people really think that they're getting their... beloved pet back basically reincarnated in another form and do you think that it's the right thing to do morally. Is there a moral component here? And the slippery slope argument is certainly one I think you would need to look at as well. But for me, I would not clone my dog. I would not clone the cat that I had. I would not clone the dogs I've had from the past. I would probably just do what we've always done, go to the animal shelter, and hopefully give a pet a happy life for the rest of that pet's life. But I think some people... If you have the money, again, this is a money thing, too. Let's be honest. I do not have the money to clone a pet. Full disclosure, I don't have the money to clone a pet. Most people don't. Tom Brady, millions upon millions, who knows, he might be a billionaire some day. He's got a huge contract with Fox. He made all that money in football. He made all that money. and endorsements and still does. So he's got the money to do this type of thing. The rest of us probably wouldn't, just for the financial reasons, but there are other considerations as well. Now, I want to get back to one news thing here that I didn't get to in the first couple hours, but it's pretty big and we should mention here, Jason Gotchen for Dan O'Donnell News Talk 1130 WISN. With the government shutdown continuing. President Trump, the last few days, has been very vocal, nuked the filibuster, get it out of there. The Democrats are going to do it anyway. The filibuster dates back to the early 1970s. It's been in place. The idea you don't have to sit there and talk and talk and talk. The filibuster in the old days was if you wanted to stall legislation, a senator would have to sit there, get a cup of water, and just keep talking and talking and talking. And hopefully you would swing other people to your side. That was the old America. It doesn't exist anymore. The new America, you just say you're going to filibuster. You can block something. You don't have to go there and talk and talk and talk and stand up and not go to the bathroom and not eat and grab a glass of water and people bringing you water. You don't have to do that anymore. You just say, hey, we're blocking this. If you don't have 60 votes, you're not going to be able to end the filibuster. And that's the way it's worked for the better part of a half century. But President Trump has said, you know what? Let's just get rid of this thing. They've kept the government shut down for long enough.

1:41:13

They have held the country hostage long enough as far as the idea of the airplane delays now, the SNAP benefits, the military pay, a lot of the stuff that people would agree on, maybe not all the SNAP benefits because that program seems subject to fraud and abuse these days. So many people are unsnapped that really probably shouldn't be on there. But paying the military, run an air traffic control, things like that, Homeland Security, ICE, all that kind of stuff. You want to keep that going. The argument against it is, you end that filibuster, the Democrats take over. They're going to do things like Eric Holder proposed in an interview earlier this week. Former Attorney General for Barack Obama had this to say. It's only when you get to the Supreme Court. that you see these problems start to arise, and it's the use of, this overuse of the shadow docket. You know, by taking these cases and deciding them, essentially deciding them, without hearing any oral argument, without any adequate briefing, you know, deciding these really important matters in that way challenges the legitimacy of the court and does an untold amount of damage to the fabric, the legal fabric of this nation. reality is it pains me to say this i think the supreme court is a broken institution and it's something that has to be i think a part of the national conversation in 26 and in 28 what are we going to do about the supreme court and i think that we have to think about Again, talking about the acquisition and the use of power, if there is a democratic trifecta in 2028, and I think the possibility of that is pretty good. Supreme Court reform is something that has to be considered. Term limits, I think, at a minimum, potentially expanding the court is something I think that also should be considered. We cannot leave in place. without a discussion at least, and I think without substantive reforms being put in place, this Supreme Court, as it is presently constituted. Okay, that's Eric Holder, Attorney General for Barack Obama, for both Obama terms. He's a far leftist. He's a... radical progressive at this point. And what he told you there in a lot of legalese mumbo-jumbo was very simple. We don't like that the Supreme Court is not a left-wing rubber stamp. So we are going to go ahead and change the composition of the court because they have decisions coming down that we don't like. In fact, to be really honest, the Supreme Court is slightly to the right. There's a lot of things they have thrown out the Trump administration want to do that. I thought they made the wrong decision on. They move slowly on a lot of these cases. They slow walk them. That's a John Roberts thing as the Chief Justice. The Supreme Court has been slightly to the right, not hard right by any stretch of the imagination. But in the new progressive world, do you know what that means? That means you got to throw it out the window. You got to go ahead and rebuild the whole thing in the making of a neo-Marxist model that these people love these days. But more importantly, for the filibuster conversation.

1:44:20

What he just told you is they're going to nuke the filibuster. Look, the Democrats had two people last time. Kristen Cinema, Joe Manchin, that prevented the filibuster from being removed. Had those two not been there, that filibuster would have been gone. in early 2021, and they would have passed some of the hardcore left-wing legislation that would have made you want to vomit going into an early weekend in November thinking about what they did. They would have patched H-R-1, which basically would have eliminated any voter ID in this country. The state of Wisconsin has voter ID now enshrined in its constitution. That would have been wiped out. HR-1 would have made it so easy for anybody to vote. You could have had somebody running across that border, grabbed a ballot, throw it in the hopper, and guess what would have happened? because it's the rights, voting rights, which when they talk about voting rights, you know what that means, disenfranchising American citizens because they don't want protection. on the ballot box. They don't want that. They don't want any safeguards in place. So if an illegal vote gets in there, guess whose vote it cancels out? Our vote! People on the right, our vote. And even you on the left, if somebody were to throw it on the right, but they never do that. The right wing doesn't do voter fraud. They don't. It's a left-wing thing. I mean, look at Robert F. Kennedy Jr. getting elected in Chicago. I mean, in 1960. I mean, the stories you hear of Chicago for the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. election in 60 are amazing. Anyway, they're going to nuke the filibuster. So again, this is what I said earlier in the show. I love defense in sports. It's great in football. It's great in basketball. It's great in baseball. And hockey, having a good goalie is king. But in politics play offense. I've always been someone who said, until this, really the last couple of weeks, keep the filibuster in place. Really until this week. Keep the filibuster in place. because you don't want them to use that against you. But the Zohran Mamdani election, the far left thinking that they won this thing and they now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying that's the future of the party, Zohran Mamdani's the future of the party. You think, look, Kristen Sinema and Joe Manchin are long gone. They're not going to keep that filibuster in place. So why are the Republicans saying, oh, no, we have to keep the filibuster in place? Because we have to, you know, the institution of the Senate is more important, and we don't want it used against us if the Democrats take that trifecta back. Well, guess what? The Democrats don't play by your rules. They're going to take that filibuster from day one. They're going to throw it right out the window, and they're going to make Puerto Rico and D.C. a state. So they can have four automatic senators forever, even though D.C. should never be a state. It's in the Constitution. It should be returned basically to Maryland. If that were the case, you can't make it a state. If you wanted to be part of a state, you return that property back to Maryland based on the Constitution. But they don't care about the Constitution. They're going to rig the court, so they've got a bunch of their, they got a bunch of left-wing clones on there. They'll throw out any sense of sanity when it comes to court rulings. They're going to nuke the filibuster. So play offense, nuke the thing at this point.

1:47:20

Because it's going to just come back against you. They're going to have the first crack at it. They're going to be leading off the game in the first inning, and they're going to have the first chance to score. They're going to get the ball in overtime to start. They're going to have the first chance to score. And when they do, it's not going to be pretty for Team R or conservative ideas or populist ideas. The Dems are going to ram it right down your throat, and you're not going to like it. So why not play offense and do what President Trump says? I think he's right on this one. Nuke the filibuster, opened the government, passed a lot of good populist conservative legislation, and let the chips fall where they may. If those policies get in place, I think Team R and Team Conservative and Team Populist will be in a really good spot. We come back some encouraging news here on a Friday afternoon. A couple of good court decisions out there. Yeah, that's a miracle. We'll talk about those next. Jason Gottsin for Dan O'Donnell. News Talk 11. First one, this is the Columbus dispatch. That's the Columbus, Ohio dispatch. Olentangie schools can't force students to use preferred pronouns, the court rules. The sixth. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that a Central Ohio school district, this is just north of Columbus, this district, the Columbus area, cannot punish students who identify transgender students by their biological pronouns, citing concerns over free speech and discrimination over certain viewpoints. In a 10-7 decision issued yesterday, how did seven people go against this ruling? That's the scary part. Good news is the decision was right. The court's majority ruled that the Olentangie local schools did not demonstrate that the use of the pronouns to refer to transgender students and non-binary students would materially and substantially disrupt school activities or infringe on the legal rights of others in the school community. The decision here... says that the school district may not skew the debate over pronouns by forcing one side to change the way it conveys its message or by compelling it to express a different view. How insane is this school district? I mean, what goes on to the schools is really scary. So if you want to dress up whatever, however you want to do it, or you want to say, you know, whatever you want to, I'm a German shepherd today, whatever, that you can do, it's a free country, you can do it. But I don't have to acknowledge it. If I don't acknowledge that, if I acknowledge biological sex and not what you say you are, that doesn't mean I have to, I have to be compelled by the school or by anybody to acknowledge what you want to be called. I remember. So completely, I'm going to take this to a completely different level here. Because, so when I was in college, if I went to Northwestern down there in the Chicago area, Northwestern University, had a friend who was from Wadsworth, Ohio.

1:50:12

He always said he was from Cleveland. This was the time when Jim Tomey, Kenny Lofton, the Cleveland Indians in the 90s were really good. Cleveland had the flats. Drew Carey, Cleveland Rocks. Cleveland was supposed to be back. And the flats closed up. Cleveland still got their problems. But the 90s, Cleveland was doing pretty well. He always said he was from Cleveland. One day one of our mutual friends said, he's like, have you ever looked where John's from, and he said he's from Cleveland? Have you ever looked where Wadsworth is on the map? I'm like, no, I haven't. He's right by Akron. He's not from Cleveland. He's from Akron. So we teased him for years and said, you're not from Cleveland. You're from Akron. Now, could he have said, oh, my goodness, that... That hurts me. I identify as a Clevelander. You know, that hurts, that hurts my upbringing. I've always thought I was from Cleveland. I'm compelling you to say I'm from Cleveland. Everybody would have said that was insane. You can't tell me what to think this, where this guy's from. But I have to be forced to call somebody what they want to be called, or it's disruptful to the school environment. Give me an absolute break. Thank goodness the courts got it right. But who's running the schools down in Olentangie, the Olentangie district near Columbus, Ohio? Who are those seven judges who got that completely wrong? Now, here's another one for you. This one also this week, the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court, 6-3 ruling cleared the way for the State Department to require people to state their biological sex on new or renewed passports, a victory for the Trump administration as it aims to tighten policies involving transgender people. Again, you can say whatever you want. But a passport about yourself, say whatever you want about yourself. But a passport is an identification piece for security. You can't be gender fluid. You can't change your mind on your gender. You've got to have some standard where that person can be identified. And the easiest way to do it is say, what was your sex at birth? Because that doesn't change. People change their gender nowadays, like the wind is blowing outside. Changes all the time. So you have to have some standard for security. When you have a passport about how to identify a person and biological sex does not change. Now, so a common sense decision here, but leave it to Ketanji Brown Jackson. I mean, a Biden appointee, she actually said this. The majority fails to spill any ink considering the plaintiffs, opting for instead to intervene in the government's favor without equitable justification and in a manner that permits harm to be inflicted on the most vulnerable party. How can it be harmful to say what your biological sex is? I mean, that's the way you were born. Even if you change it, you were born. They're not asking you what it is even today. They're asking you what it was at birth. How is that harmful in any way? That's what happens when you put a Joe Biden, Democrat, progressive, radical left, political activist on the bench. That's the kind of opinion you get. And that person, that's the person Eric Holder wants to replicate putting on the bench or the rest of the left winger is on there. That's the type of decision he wants.

1:53:12

So think about that next time you go vote. Think about that. Is that what you want on the bench? Because that's what you're going to get if you put the Democrats in charge anytime again. They're going to nuke that filibuster. They get the trifecta. They're going to expand the court and clone the Tom Brady's dog. Just find leftists and put them on the court to put these type of decisions on the American people. We come back. The best Halloween costume I've ever heard of, at least this year. We'll talk about that right after this. Teen 10, W-I-B-A and Madison. Big thanks to producer, Jeff, doing great work with us here on the program, making me sound good with all the audio. Always appreciate his great input here on the program. And I'm going to close out with this, because I joke with my wife. about for Halloween dressing up and walking the kids around the neighbor as an ice agent. We both said, yeah, you're not going to do that, but it would be kind of funny. But check out this story from Maine. Mount Blue Middle School principal faces backlash for Ice Agent costume. The principal sister said he never meant to hurt anyone. Community members say he is extremely tone deaf. He went to a private party. There's a picture of him here. Obviously, it's radio. You can't see it. But he wore a police ice. logo on the vest, a cap with ice, an American flag, and zip ties clipped to his hip. His sister says, no will at all. Amazing man. He wouldn't hurt anybody. It was a private party. The family has a proud history of law enforcement. But of course, a community member. Emily Angela community member says it's extremely tone deaf. It's hurtful. It's painful to see. I believe he should be terminated over this. If not, he should resign from his position because it is absolutely disgusting in my eyes. Well, you know what I think? I think I would feel very good sending my kid to the school that this gentleman is running. I think it's a great costume. I think it's an awesome costume. And what's wrong with dressing up in all seriousness? What's wrong with dressing up in a law enforcement costume? Ice is it's a good job. It's a reputable job. And you know what? Those people are working their rear ends off to keep us safe. They really are. There's a lot of bad people coming across that border illegally and have done it. And these people are putting their lives on the line every day. They should be celebrated. People in the community should appreciate what they are doing for them. Jason Gotts for Dan O'Donnell. Have a great weekend, everybody.
