It is primary day here in Wisconsin, but there is a very good chance. You've got nothing to vote for. Governor Evers delivers his state of the state address while legislative leaders, Republicans both deliver him a deal on property tax relief. He had this to say about a prominent real estate developer in New York City way back in 1999. I now want to bring forth a friend who has, well, he is deceptive and that his social style is of such. One can miss his seriousness and his commitment for this success is beyond argument. When we opened this Wall Street project and we talked about it, you give us space at 40 Wall Street, which was to make a statement about our having a presence there. And beyond that, in terms of reaching out and being inclusive, he's done that too. And created for many people a comfort zone when I ran for the presidency. Did you hear that? He created for many people a comfort zone, meaning white people who might not have otherwise felt comfortable voting for a black man for president. He is also somebody who donated a significant real estate space in New York City to the then Rainbow Coalition. I wonder who this could be. And many others thought it was either laughable or something to avoid. He came to our business meeting here in New York because he has this sense of the curious. and a will to rest to make things better. And so aside him all of his style and his pazas, he's a serious person who is an effective builder of building to the build of people. Last he was a part of our... That's interesting. He's not just a builder. He's a builder of people. Again, who could he be talking about? Workshop.

That was in fact 1999. Trump spoke at a Rainbow Coalition event in New York City. In fact, he was very close with the Reverend Jesse Jackson and penned a tribute to him. I would also be remiss if I did not point out that today marks five years since the passing of a truly great American citizen Rush Limbaugh. died today, February 17th, 2021, after a legendary career in radio where he was much more than just a talk show host, much more than just the driving force in conservative politics for decades. He was a friend to a whole lot of people, myself included, who listened to him without fail each and every afternoon right here on WISN and WIBA and hundreds of stations across the country. It is an understatement to say that he invented the genre of talk radio. He invented the genre of cable news that we see now. He popularized the idea that you could talk about political issues, political policy, and make it entertaining. And if there is no Rush Limbo, there's no Fox News, you don't have MSNBC, okay, okay, we don't want to blame Rush for that one, MS now, as it's now called. CNN, pretty much all of modern political discourse really started with Rush Limba. I also want to point out, That there are, with very few exceptions. And in fact, I have been scouring X, formerly known as Twitter, to find any conservatives dancing on the grave of Jesse Jackson or celebrating or posting things like they posted five years ago today. Rest in Piss was a popular one. They were very glad that Rush Limbaugh died. They were overjoyed. Finally. I hope Rush spent his last moments gasping for breath in pure agony. I can remember all of these posts because I was reading them in real time. I was on Newsmax TV for the better part of two hours while I was on vacation in Florida. I had to borrow one of my brother's wrinkled shirts because I didn't have anything that even came close to a dress shirt. But when...

Russia's widow, Catherine, came on his show and announced that he had passed. Obviously, everyone in talk radio was shocked, was saddened, and I had to provide some context for a national audience about just what it was that Rush meant. I think there's a very valuable lesson in this in that conservatives just don't have that lack of humanity. Conservatives, first of all, I mean, you don't need to go back five years, just go back five months to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a 32-year-old man cut down by an assassin's bullet in front of the entire country. And you still have leftists celebrating that death. But at just any time there is a prominent Democrat or a prominent liberal who dies, I just want you to notice which side is at least political, at least they have some tact. Yes, obviously, Jesse Jackson said horrible things and believed horrible things, especially about Jewish people. He was charitably someone who used race as a wedge and essentially shook down businesses in order to get payments for his organization, in order to call off boycotts for real or even imagined racist incidents. But there's nobody saying I'm glad he's dead. There's nobody of prominence saying he deserved to die or the world is better off without Jesse Jackson. I defy you to find that level of adulthood or that level of tact on the political left whenever a prominent conservative dies. Today is primary day in the Wisconsin spring election, and there is no statewide primary race on the ballot. Because there is only one statewide race for a state Supreme Court, it is very likely that the overwhelming majority of you listening to me right now don't actually have an election today. In fact, in our listening area, there's only a tiny handful of districts. that do have a primary, check out myvote.w.w.w.w.gov and click on what's on my ballot to see if there's anything on your ballot today. I'm willing to wager 99% of you do not have an election, but if you're in the city of Milwaukee, you may well have an older manic race. I believe there are a couple in Waucahaw as well. Myvote.wai.gov. In that state supreme court race, Left-wing radical Chrissy Taylor has fastidiously avoided pretty much every question on one of the most hot-button issues of the day. That is, whether boys belong in girls' bathrooms. In fact, this issue is roiling the community of New Richmond after the school board essentially enacted a policy that allows just...

He's got President Trump's endorsement, which seems like an incredible feat for a 25-year-old who came out of absolutely nowhere. He is speaking of talk radio. He was a producer on the Dan Bongino, but he also happens to be married to Sean Duffy's daughter. Is there a case of nepotism here as he seeks his father-in-law's seat? We will ask him about that and much more coming up right after the 5 o'clock news, but he has been very active up in New Richmond. I mean, this is a place in the United States where you really would not imagine radical trans ideology taking place. Chris Taylor has attempted to avoid being labeled as a radical trans activist, but her record reveals that that is exactly 100% what she is. I did a little digging and went back to 2019 where she authored or co-authored three bills that pretty much do everything that the radical trans movement today is trying to get done. Now, I want you to. Imagine the two most buffoonish things that Midwestern governors have done or said over the past couple of years. I want you to think about Tony Evers and Tim Walz. Evers, you might recall, in a story that we first broke here on the Dan O'Donnell show about a year ago, wanted to change the word mother or pregnant woman. in state law to inseminated person. He became an international laughing stock when that story went mega viral on X. Even Elon Musk retweeted it. Then I want you to go back a year before. Tim Walz earned the nickname Tim Walz because he wanted to put tampons in boys' bathrooms. What if I told you that Chrissy Taylor, who doesn't want to be labeled a radical trans activist, both authored a bill that would put tampons in boys' bathrooms and authored another one that would change the word mother to parent who gave birth to the child in state statutes, and she did so in the span of two months in the summer of 2019? There were three bills that she was a big part of that summer that are rather eye-opening. June of 2019, she co-authored a bill that would establish a task force to study, quote, the legal and societal barriers to equality for transgender intersex, non-binary, and gender non-conforming individuals. Now, the committee... was going to include experts on trans health who are already working for the state, say, in the UW system, as well as representatives from the LGBT Bar Association of Wisconsin, the ACLU. Governor Evers was going to be authorized to just...

appoint random transgender people to serve on this task force and the legislation would have given that task force very wide latitude to demand resources from literally any state department so anything the department of justice the department of workforce development anybody involved in state government would have to essentially bow down to the trans task force that Chrissy Taylor wanted when she was a member of the state assembly. Now, thankfully, because the legislature has been controlled by Republicans, that never actually saw a vote. But that didn't stop Chrissy Taylor. A month later, July 2019, she co-authors a bill that sought to adopt gender-neutral parentage terminology. No, seriously, that was the entire purpose of... The bill, according to the Legislative Reference Bureau, the bill recognizes legal parentage for same-sex couples under certain circumstances and adopts gender-neutral parentage terminology. One of these changes, changing the word mother to parent who gave birth to the child. Father is simply a parent of the child. But the mother is the parent who gave birth to the child. Fortunately, by April of 2020, the bill failed. It just died in the state Senate. That didn't stop her, though, August of 2019. She co-authors another bill that would require all state-owned restrooms, including school district restrooms, and mail restrooms, to have tampons and sanitary napkins made available in men's restrooms. Again, legislative reference bureau. This bill requires that restroom facilities in buildings owned, leased, or occupied by the state or a political subdivision have available. tampons and sanitary napkins at no charge. The bill also requires each school district, operator of an independent charter school and governing body of a private school participating in a parental choice program to make available tampons and sanitary napkins at no charge in restroom facilities in buildings owned, leased, or occupied by the school board operator or governing body. That's right. the proposed bill would have been written so that it extended to private schools, including religious schools, participating in any school choice program operated by the state. I think you can start calling her tampon Taylor because she actually believed that boys need tampons and sanitary napkins.

This turned Tim Walz into a national laughing stock when it was revealed that he actually supported that and actually signed a bill into law that did just that when he was running for vice president. Now Chrissy Taylor is running for state Supreme Court. She deserves to be every bit the laughing stock that Tim Walz has been. Not only that, Governor Evers, who again delivers his final state of the state address tonight, earned international scorn and laughter because he changed the name of women to inseminated persons. Well, the idea that mothers aren't actually mothers, but simply the parent who gave birth to the child also suggests that fathers can give birth to the child. So I guess the operative question for Chris Taylor is, can males ovulate? Can men give birth? Can men have periods? Do men need tampons and sanitary napkins? In fact, if someone is that confused about basic questions of biology, how can you possibly trust them to answer complex questions of law, especially when the law intersects with questions of biology? It seems to me, based on our reporting that we just did, this investigation, an exclusive to the Dan O'Donnell show, Chris Taylor should start answering some questions about... There was another bill that she introduced a month later that would have replaced the word mother with the word with the phrase. The parent of the child who gave birth, implying that somehow men or fathers can give birth, and most bizarrely of all, in August, the month after that, August of 2019, she actually introduced legislation that would require all bathrooms that are in state buildings, including schools. have tampons in the men's room. Just call her tampon Taylor running for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

And while it is primary day, there is a very strong likelihood that you don't have anything on your ballot today because many of these races will have out of five candidates pick three to represent you on the school board. And those are simply on the spring election in the general election. That's going to be April 7th. Can you hear me? Oh, yep. There we got you. There we gotcha. What's going on, Chaz? So I want to just put my two cents in with this whole transgender ideology. I began to, you know, throw my two cents on Facebook, and I made the simple argument that how do we know that these hormone drugs that were putting into these kids before they even hit puberty are not part of the problem? I was called a bully for having that argument. Fast forward, I called Washington Journal on C-SPAN on Sunday and kind of voiced the same opinion, just that they should have a topic on it with two doctors, one that is a psycho and pushes this stuff, and the other one who's common sense like us. I would actually pay, I would pay to have a psycho doctor debate a sane doctor on this. Chaz, I like your terminology here.

So now, of course, they're not, you know, they don't want to talk about that. But wouldn't you know a day later yesterday, we get another shooting? Yep. I mean, it's just insane. So it looks like I was right. And now I got to wait a month to call Washington Journal and throw it back in their face to pressure them to have these conversations. Well, I think everybody needs to have these conversations, and good for you for actually getting on Washington Journal, and good for you for being one of the few people who still watches Washington Journal on C-SPAN. I kid, I kid. C-SPAN, just like Wisconsin-I, very important public programming. not exactly the most scintillating television in the world. What Chas was talking about is a horrific story coming out of Pawtucket, Rhode Island yesterday. It happened during a boys' high school hockey game where a man by the name of Robert Dorgan. who was 56 years old but also went by roberta esposito and had transitioned to a woman open fired around two 30 p.m. local time killing two people reported to be his ex-wife and his son he injured three other people including a number of family members or friends who are attending this game A number of them are in critical condition. A good Samaritan actually wrestled Dorgan to the ground and prevented him from shooting anybody else. He turned the gun on himself, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Rather bizarrely, Dorgan, at least according to his social media profile, was very right-wing. He was a Trump-supporting conservative, however, in one of his very last tweets. In response to Kevin Sorbo, the conservative actor most famous for playing Hercules in Hercules, the legendary journeys, he was tweeting about some transgender congresswoman, Tim McBride or Teresa McBride, or whatever the name is now. And this was the response, verbatim from the killer Robert Dorgan, aka Roberto Esposito. Quote, Keep bashing us. But do not wonder why we go berserk. That was about 24 hours before he did go berserk and killed his ex-wife and their son and critically injured three other people he knew. Now, this is just the latest incident of mass transgender violence or extreme transgender violence in just the last couple of days. In fact, less than a week earlier in Tumblr Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, Northern Canada.

With the intent to kill Brett Kavanaugh after the draft opinion in the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade was leaked. He was furious about that. He was trying to stop Roe v. Wade from being overturned. So he went all the way across the country. Fortunately, had a rare moment of lucidity and actually called 911 on himself. That was back in 2022. He has apparently been living as a woman in federal prison ever since. Now, if this seems like a whole lot of high-profile trans violence lately, you're right. It does, especially because people who suffer from true gender dysphoria are only about 0.5% of the American population. Twice in two weeks, you have a transgender woman, aka a man who thinks he's a woman. committed an extreme act of violence, not just in the United States, but in Canada as well. And while it is true that acts of extreme violence committed by transgender individuals are rare, so too are such extreme acts of violence committed by the general public. The fact that the general public is 99.5% of all of the people in said public, and transgender individuals are about 0.5%, I think... it is worth asking exactly what is going on in the transgender community. We will attempt to answer that question using facts and science. What is the state of the state really? Governor Evers is, of course, going to paint a much rosier picture after eight years of his leadership. But we're going to dive into what the stats actually say. And we're going to talk with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, Scott Manley, about one of the most important studies that I think has been done in the last decade about just how uncompetitive Wisconsin has become. under Tony Evers' leadership. That is coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. Is there something innate in transgender ideology that makes transgender people seemingly prone to acts of extreme violence? We'll discuss in just a second. First, though, it's time to name the unhinged liberal of the name. Trump is Hitler. We are in pre-Nazi Germany. All white people are racist. Trump is dangerous because he's evil. America is over. You want to talk about transgender people who are prone to violence, or at least violent fantasies? Today's unhinged liberal of the day is this person who identifies on TikTok as, quote, gender fluid screeching while driving a car about wanting to see members of the Trump administration not removed from office, not arrested,

But gutted. There's the thing. I don't want impeachment. I don't want them to serve time. I want them taking into the city town square. Hug from their ankles and cut them from going to chain. I don't know whether to be terrified or double over in laughter. Producer Eric wants to know. How many rehearsals did it take to get just that perfect pitch? Let's hear this again. Let's rate her acting here. Okay, so here's the problem. In acting, they teach you to make a choice and then stick with it. So she starts to, here's the thing, I don't want impeachment. She's doing that weird sing-songy thing that liberal women have a tendency to do. Oftentimes they accompany that by clapping, like, here's the thing. I don't want impeachment. But then she all of a sudden switches. Like she makes a different choice. Like, then she needs to go full Hannibal Lecter psychopath. I don't want them to serve time. I want them take it into the city. Like, here's where she goes. She starts to sound kind of like a professional wrestler. I want them take it into the city. And beaten down in the steel cage challenge match. Down square. Half.

Truly. These people demand to be taken seriously. Producer Eric says at least four rehearsals based on how raspy her voice was. That gender fluid woman, we think, you're unhinged liberal of the day. Before the commercial break, we ran down recent instances of transgender violence, extreme transgender violence, too, within the span of a week, a mass school shooting in British Columbia, Canada, as well as yesterday's. targeted mass shooting, but a mass shooting nonetheless. of family members of a transgender man, I guess technically transgender woman, man who thinks he is a woman. Man wearing a dress is what law enforcement described him as, 56-year-old man who gunned down his ex-wife and his son, and then injured three other people, at least two of whom are in critical condition before a quick-thinking good Samaritan subdued him. He was attempting to kill other people, then realizing that he was pinned down, that he was going to be taken. into custody, he turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. Is there something endemic in transgender ideology that makes people more prone to violence? Not necessarily, but the thing that most people want to ignore about transgender ideology is the extreme connection to schizophrenia. The extreme connection to high levels of autism. and deep, deep depression and self-loathing, as well as years of funneled up rage at a world that supposedly has wronged them, a world that has misgendered them, misidentified them, certainly misunderstood them. It's not that they are trans. It's that transgender ideology, to me at least, is a symptom of broader-based severe mental illness. And one of the gravest injustices that liberal society has foisted upon very vulnerable, very sick people is this notion that if you simply change your gender, if you simply lob off little Mr. Happy, you will be happy. Living as a woman, all your problems will go away. So instead of getting to the root of what it is that's causing this extreme self-loathing, and I talk about this often here on this show, imagine hating yourself so much that you hate the most basic characteristic about yourself. You hate the fact that you are a male. You hate the fact that you are a female.

Well, that obviously is going to mean that you hate other aspects of your life. Well, for the better part of a decade now, we have had a medical establishment that has said, well, you don't need to treat the psychological issues that are underpinning all of this. What you need to do is to simply change your gender. And in that long list of... transgender radical people i completely forgot probably the most famous here in wisconsin and that would be morgan geyser the slender man stabbing suspect who just had a daring escape with her also gender fluid boyfriend who is 40 something years old she apparently has been exhibiting transgender traits and identifying as a boy for the past year or so. Nonetheless, you have members of that medical establishment saying, well, Peyton clearly, or excuse me, Morgan is clearly not a threat to anybody. She's cured. Well, okay, but she's establishing a clear symptom of schizophrenia. She believes she is born in the wrong body. That probably suggests that there's something a little bit deeper wrong with her, does it? Nope, nope, nope, totally cured, totally fine. Until we get back to actually treating severe mental illness and until we get back to understanding transgender ideology and gender dysphoria as a mental illness, we are going to continue to have deeply deranged people committing extreme acts of violence. First, the Common Council President accuses the head of the Bradley Center District of pinching his butt and actually files a police report. I am absolutely dead serious about that. Jose Perez. accuses Marty Brooks of pinching his butt. And now Perez has stripped two common council members of their committee assignments because of some sort of verbal confrontation before that massive anti-ice press conference that they held last week.

This story just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Yesterday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported exclusively that Jocasta Zamoripa, as well as Mark Chambers Jr., got into some sort of screaming match in the run-up to that press conference that we covered extensively here on the Dan O'Donnell show. You might remember this was the one in which Perez, Zamoripa, and let's see, Marina Demetrievic, they all admitted. as well as the truly insane person, Alex Brower, the open socialist who's on the Milwaukee Common Council. They were all talking openly about putting up and setting up the same sort of communication networks like the infamous telegram chat that was allowing all of the radical anti-ice activists to be able to follow and basically stalk ice agents around the city. and engage in federal obstruction of justice. I mean, what was going on was criminal activity in they were making it much more difficult for law enforcement agencies to do their job. You have the president of the Common Council. You have four different members of the Milwaukee Common Council all talking openly about setting up those same communication networks in Milwaukee on the chance that ICE conducts large-scale operations here. I mean, what they are talking about is establishing a criminal conspiracy. Well, it turns out that that's not the biggest controversy to come out of that press conference. Naturally. I'm the only one in Milwaukee media who notices that they're all talking about a criminal conspiracy. Heaven knows the journal Sentinel is not going to report on that. But apparently there was a massive screaming match between Chambers and Zamoripa immediately before. Zamoripa has now filed a formal ethics complaint against Chambers. We will get into that. Coming up in just a second, it is just breaking now that Zamoripa has put out a press release saying that she has filed. an ethics complaint. I would say that Mark Chambers might have actually pinched Joe Costa's butt, but God knows nobody would ever, under any circumstances, want to pinch Joe Costa's butt. We'll get into this in just a second forward. I'm sorry, is it not funny that the president of the Milwaukee Common Council is accusing the head of the Wisconsin Center District of pinching his butt? It is inherently funny. Like, he just, Marty Brooks just kind of walks up. He just sort of walks up, pinches Perez's butt, and then walks away. The police investigated and found no probable cause. Jose Perez wanted criminal charges against the head of the Wisconsin Center District. And, oh, by the way, the Wisconsin Center District and the Milwaukee Common Council obviously need to have a close relationship. Not that close. Not close like they're, you know, pinching each other's butts all the time.

I always wondered, you know, we talk about Democrats and, you know, they have the secret communications networks to interfere with ICE. Do they have like secret handshakes? It's sort of like the stone cutters from that old episode of The Simpsons. Is the secret handshake just they pinch each other's rear ends? I provided office space for him and his Rainbow Coalition for years in the Trump building at 40 Wall Street. responded to his request for helping getting criminal justice reform passed and signed when no other president would even try. Single-handedly pushed and passed long-term funding for historically black colleges and universities, which Jesse loved, but also which other presidents would not do. Responded to Jesse's support for Operation Opportunity Zones, excuse me, the single most successful economic development package yet approved for black businessmen and women. and much more. Trump concluded the post by saying, Jesse loved his family greatly, and to them I send my deepest sympathies and condolences, Jesse will be missed.

Another round of talks today between American and Iranian negotiators aimed at permanently ending Iran's nuclear program, Vice President JD Vance, on Martha McCallum's show on Fox News about two hours ago. Well, I'm obviously not going to make any announcements today. I think the president has a lot of options. We do have a very powerful military. The president's shown a willingness to use it. He also has a remarkable diplomatic team. He's shown a willingness to use that, too. And so what the president has been very clear with the Iranians. And actually, I just talked to Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner this morning about some... their negotiations is the United States has certain red lines. Our primary interest here is we don't want Iran to get a nuclear weapon. We don't want nuclear proliferation. If Iran gets a nuclear weapon, there are a lot of other regimes, some friendly, some not so friendly, who would get nuclear weapons after them. That would be a disaster for the American people, because then you have these crazy regimes all over the world with the most dangerous weapons in the world, and that's one of the things the President has said he's going to prevent. Now, we would very much like, as the President has said, to resolve this through a conversation in a diplomatic negotiation, but the president has all options on the table. And, you know, one thing about the negotiation, I will say this morning, is, you know, in some ways it went well, they agreed to meet afterwards. But in other ways, it was very clear that the president has set some red lines, that the Iranians are not yet willing to actually acknowledge and work through. So we're going to keep on working it, but of course, the president reserves the ability to say when he thinks that diplomacy has reached its natural end, we hope we don't get to that point. But if we do, That'll be the president's call. The president always reserving that all options will remain on the table, including military action, which the Iranians learned the hard way over the summer when American B-2 bombers destroyed Iran's nuclear program. Now, the vice president on Fox today was also asked about this year's midterms and what the message was going to be coming from the White House. Here's the fundamental issue in the midterms, and I think we're going to make this argument to the American people, and the American people are obviously, they're going to be the ones who make this decision is, look, If you go back to the Biden administration, the average American lost about $3,000 in take-home pay during the four years that Democrats were in charge. In the first year of the Trump administration, they've gained, average Americans have gained about $1,200 now. There's kind of a good news, bad news dynamic there. If you're looking at it from the perspective of the last year, Americans have done better. If you're looking at it from the perspective of the Biden administration, we're still digging out of the hole the Democrats put us in. I think the question we're going to put to the American people is, do you want to give the government back over to the people who frankly burned down the house and made most Americans much less wealthy and much less safe? Or do you want to double down on the president's leadership, which has helped us recover from some of the problems caused by Joe Biden, and then it's built a lot on top of it? Because so much of what we've done over the last year are things that are going to pay long-term dividends for the American people. $18 trillion of new investment. That's factories being built. That's wages going up. A 20% reduction in murder rate. We've obviously secured the border and we've got a lot of criminals out of this country in the process. So there's a lot to run on. There's a lot to talk about. But Martha, there's still so much to do.

Now, the White House is also highlighting its efforts to combat foreign fraud and highlighting toward that end, a massive fraud case from the Milwaukee area today, posting this video from Channel 12 on Nail Jabbar, who is charged with defrauding the SNAP program out of more than $1.5 million. Prosecutors this month leveling two counts against Jabbar, claiming he was defrauding the SNAP Food Share Benefits program, which is taxpayer-funded. out of some $1.6 million between 2022 and 2024. Prosecutors say he'd give people cash in exchange for the food benefits on their quest EBT cards. The cash would be less than the amount of the cards, but he'd charge the state and federal government for the full amount. They say Jabbar used the money he made to pay off personal loans and credit cards to fund his membership to a vacation club and even spend it at retail stores like Target, Gucci, and Nordstrom. Of course it was Ed. Gucci because, of course, it was. That, ladies and gentlemen, is your daily Trump date. Jocosta Zamaripa, who is running for Secretary of State of Wisconsin. She is a former State Assembly woman. She is a Milwaukee older woman, and she is accusing her fellow older person, Mark Chambers Jr., of essentially harassing her and verbally abusing her in some sort of shouting match that took place last week, February 11th, that would have been last Wednesday at City Hall right before this big press conference. in which the president of the common council unveiled the anti-ice, ice out MKE package of municipal ordinance proposals. This is the statement from Zamorepo is now filed that formal ethics complaint. Quote, on February 11th, an incident occurred at City Hall involving Alderman Mark Chambers Jr. and me. What should have been a conversation among colleagues quickly escalated into something far more serious. I was confronted in my office, verbally berated, and physically intimidated in a way that made me feel trapped and unable to safely exit. Multiple individuals witnessed what occurred. During the encounter, I was subjected to profane and degrading remarks, including being taunted to, quote, start crying. the comments were gendered and demeaning this is not the first time i have experienced hostility from this individual this was not just a personal disagreement or just raised voices when an elected official uses the authority and physical presence of their office to intimidate or silence a colleague It is a misuse of public power that undermines the democratic process. It also sends a troubling message to the residents that I represent that their voices can be bullied or pushed aside inside City Hall.

holding public office is built on public trust that trust depends on every elected official being able to do their job without threats intimidation or abuse that is why i have filed a formal complaint and requested a full investigation under the city's ethics code including whether this conduct constituted misuse of office and violated the standards required of city officials accountability matters not only for me but for the integrity of city government and the communities whose representation must be respected now as you can imagine that of course is a reference to the fact that she is Hispanic and represents a largely Hispanic constituency i don't see, I guess, how this is. I mean, if this was now, maybe in the detailed ethics complaint, there was far more abusive language or there is going to be a far more detailed account of what it was that happened, but simply telling somebody, oh, are you going to start crying or start crying? I mean, my God, I tell that to the libs in my comments section probably once a day. Now, granted. These aren't members of the Milwaukee Common Council, although Congressman Mark Pocan in his steadfast refusals to come on and debate me on literally any issue on this program has said some pretty mean things about me. I don't know if I would file an ethics complaint against him. Start crying alone is not sufficient, I think, for any sort of ethics. action against common council member Bernie Sanders i i just don't see how this now maybe she didn't want to put this in the press release but it seems to me that if there was much more abusive language you'd want to include that to say oh yeah hey this is clearly abusive what my spider sense is telling me is that Zamaripa, who is a hot-headed person and has a reputation of being very hot-headed inside the Common Council. And amongst those who knew her when she was in the state legislature. This is somebody who is going to fly off the handle, and this is somebody who is going to give as good as she gets in any sort of verbal confrontation. If the best that she can come up with was, oh, well, he said, start crying, and this is gendered language, this just strikes me as the girl who cried sexism. Like the boy who cried wolf, it might not necessarily be anything that rises to that level. But what is abundantly clear...

is that you have a serious issue, I think, in this state with Democrats who, frankly, do not like each other at all. Now, how much was made over the last couple of days of Devin Lemayhew, the leader of the state Senate and Robin Voss, the Speaker of the State Assembly, not being on the same page when it came to property tax relief. And Lemieux is saying, well, it seems like Assembly Speaker Voss was cutting me out of the negotiation process with... Governor Evers when it comes to tax relief. So Lemieux put out his own income tax relief package where he wants to spend a billion or so dollars, maybe $2 billion of the state's projected $2.5 to $2.7 billion budget surplus on income tax relief, $500 to individual filers, $1,000 to married people filing jointly. this was made to seem as though this is the greatest rift in the history of politics here in this state just to recap over the past nine months You have had Wisconsin's Governor Tony Evers refused to endorse, and very pointedly refused to endorse his own Lieutenant Governor Sarah Rodriguez, his former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes. Not only that, when Barnes jumped into the gubernatorial race, you had Democrats from across the state, both named and anonymously telling the New York Times, hey, we're not going to all fall in line behind Mandela. We're not going to get the party to force Sarah Godluski and Alex Lazarus. out of the primary a week before the vote like they did when he ran for Senate in August of 2022. That's not going to happen again. And then that was followed up by the Milwaukee courier saying much the same thing a couple of days later when Mandela got in this race or right before Mandela got in this race saying, hey, you're not guaranteed the support of Milwaukee's black community. Not only that. At around that same time, this past fall, at a David Crowley campaign fundraiser, at least at the bar after the fundraiser had ended, you've got Marty Brooks, a Democrat in Good Standing, the head of the Wisconsin Center District, allegedly pinching the butt of the Milwaukee Common Council President Jose Perez, who then doesn't just file an ethics complaint or go to the media. He actually files a police report. He wants criminal sexual assault charges. filed against Marty Brooks. Now you've got Joe Costa Zamorepa accusing Mark Bernie Sanders of verbally abusing her. What is going on in the Democrat Party? I'm not entirely sure, but quite frankly, you'll love to see it. Lemayhew and Voss deliver a property tax proposal to Governor Evers will break it down. You have no idea how badly I want Alderman Mark Chambers Jr. to respond to Jocosta Zamaripa's ethics complaint by accusing her of being racist. Chambers is black. Zamoripa is Hispanic. Yeah, you'd better believe I am loving every second of Democrats all across the state being at each other's throats in an election year. Does anything reflect this better than Governor Evers so obviously hating both of his lieutenant governors that he is refusing to endorse either one? In fact, we have a soundbite that we've been playing for the better part of eight months now, in which Evers was asked specifically about whether or not he was going to endorse Sarah Rodriguez when Rodriguez announced her bid for the governorship as soon as Evers announced that he wasn't seeking a third term. He actually said, yeah, you know, if there's somebody who gets in the race and I think is worthy of my endorsement, then I'll endorse. But, yeah, I just, I'm not going to endorse right now at the time. Rodriguez was the only major Democrat candidate in the race. So him saying that was saying quite a bit. And not only that, when his other lieutenant governor, the guy who he was supposed to, I can remember. When the two of them were on the ticket together, a lot of people don't realize how this works. It's not like you pick a running mate, like the president picks a vice presidential running mate. In Wisconsin, you actually run in the primary to be your party's nominee for lieutenant governor, and then you are automatically added to the ticket in the general election. So Ivers didn't pick Mandela Barnes. Ivers didn't pick Sarah Rodriguez. They just happened to win the primary. So there was no real loyalty there. But we were told, I remember the general election campaign in 2018, when we were told that Evers and Mandela Barnes, the old white man and the young black man, they were the odd couple, they were the best of friends. Turns out, I don't know if Mandela hates Evers' guts, but it turns out that Evers clearly hates Mandela Barnes' guts. Why do I say that? Because if he didn't, he would have endorsed Mandela right away. Now that the field is set...

I don't know if Ivers just doesn't think that there's anybody worthy of his endorsement, but he clearly is not going to endorse either Rodriguez or Barnes when it would do them any good in this primary. Ivers is going to deliver his eighth and final state of the state address, and it is very likely tonight he is going to talk about all of the successes over the past eight years. But he is very likely not going to talk about the single most destructive policy, I think, of his entire time in office. And that is the 400-year property tax veto. Just by way of a very, very quick explainer. Governor Evers used his very powerful partial veto authority in 2023 to change the numbers 2024-25 to 2425 and to increase the school funding levy by $325 per student per year until the year 2425. So 400 years, I guess one year down. 399 to go since we're in 2026. But already in just the first year that this 400-year veto was in effect because the state Supreme Court gave its stamp of approval. Of course, along partisan lines, the four liberal hacks approved a very obvious unconstitutional Van der White veto. And the three conservative justices said, what are you crazy? This is absolute insanity. And it's completely and totally unconstitutional. Well, for the first time, property taxpayers opened their bills and they saw the single biggest one-year increase in their property tax rates in 30-plus years. Why? Because school districts didn't need to go to referendum. They could simply add $325 per pupil every single year. It's not as though they've added $325 for the tax year 2024 or 2025. They can add an additional $325 in 2026, 27, 28, 29, 30, and so on and so on and so on until the year 2425. Now, Devin Lemieux and Robin Voss, the two leaders of the Wisconsin legislature in the Senate and Assembly respectively, respectively understand that Evers is not going to agree to undo the 400-year veto, and both of them apparently agree that allowing him to do so. would be politically a mistake because you know doggone well Tom Tiffany is going to campaign hard on the fact that governor evers increased everybody's property taxes for the next four centuries so in their proposal that they sent to the governor's office late yesterday they are incorporating

Lemmy Hughes proposal of income tax rebates. And all of this would be part of spending the proposed $2.3 billion budget surplus that was announced by the state's legislative fiscal bureau. This is at the end of the current budget cycle at the end of the fiscal year, June 30th of 2027. Lemieux is called for one-time payments of $500 per individual tax filer or $1,000 for married couples filing jointly. This would cost about $1.5. billion dollars. There would be an additional $500 million allocated to the school levy tax credit, also called the school property tax credit. This uses state funds to sort of offset the part of local property taxes that are attributable to school levies, which again, increased by the biggest margin since the early 1990s. There would then be an extra $200 million for special education reimbursements to help cover the costs for districts of providing special education. But notably, the two leaders said there will not be any increase in general school aid funding. Evers wants about $450 million over the next year. Just one year, he wants an increase of nearly half a billion dollars. even though the number of students that need to be educated has decreased precipitously. Now, so too over the last 25 years have the number of teachers in Wisconsin's K-12 public school districts. But do you know what has gone up considerably? The number of non-teaching school employees. This is educational bureaucrats assistant principals, people who aren't actually in the classroom, but rather serve as ed. administrators or educational specialists. They've made out like literal bandits as the declining student population because of massive demographic shifts. My generation and Generation X having far fewer children than did the baby boomers or greatest generation before them has meant that it should not cost more money to educate a fewer children. to educate a significantly smaller student body. Now, Governor Evers, of course, is going to reject this proposal, but the leaders of the State Assembly and State Senate say, okay, we're going to end this legislative session on Thursday, so time is clearly of the essence. We will see tonight what Governor Evers says about this, if anything. He does deliver his State of the State address this evening. What is the State of Wisconsin? Really? After eight years of Tony Evers, we discuss next here on the Dan O'Donnell Show.

Governor Evers delivers his eighth and final state of the state address tonight, and, well, he is going to be taking a massive victory lap about just how great Wisconsin has done under his watch. The truth is that Wisconsin is quite literally falling behind in pretty much every single metric. This was outlined in what should be an absolute must-read report from Wisconsin manufacturers and commerce. We highlighted this about two weeks ago, and I've actually invited Scott Manley, who is an executive vice president with WMC on. It is just absolutely devastating. He is going to focus on education funding. And in fact, he is the one that was the one who basically outlined just how badly Wisconsin is misspending its education funding. Consider this under Governor Evers. Since 2000, per pupil spending has more than doubled. Over the same period enrollment fell by 65,000 total students. Non-teaching staff grew by more than 8,000. This means for every eight students lost, schools hired one additional non-instructional employee. And this explosion in school budgets, even as the per-pupil spending has gone up, but the total number of pupils has gone down, what this has meant is, so education is funding on a per-pupil basis here in Wisconsin. The state pays based on how many kids it is that you need to educate. We have gone from about $8,000 per student in the year 2000 to about $18,000 per student today. Amazingly, nearly two-thirds of Wisconsin students are below grade level in math according to NAEP national standards. This is stunning. We're going to talk to Scott Manley about this. This report also found that under Governor Evers, Wisconsin's top individual tax rate, now this was set to be fair before Evers took office, 7.65 percent, ninth highest nationally. Corporate income tax rate, 7.9%, 12th highest in the country. But here is where Governor Evers really did a number on the state. Wisconsin is now the 13th most regulated state in the country.

The state administrative code contains over 165,000 regulatory restrictions. That number just exploding over the last eight years. Now, a big reason that Wisconsin has what's known as brain drain, where we have a lot of talented young people just leaving the state, because 16 states now have flat income taxes, while nine states have no income tax at all. Seeing as Wisconsin is not exactly the best weather-wise, sure, yesterday and the day before we're about as beautiful as a February day can possibly get here. It's like that every single day in a lot of these states that have no state income tax, including Texas, and don't even get me started about what Florida is like this time of here. It's absolutely gorgeous. You go to southern Florida, 85 degrees you can lay around on the beach. As a result of policies that are driving people away, driving entrepreneurs away, Wisconsin's median age is about a full year and a half older than the national average. Our median age here in the state is 40.7. National average 39.2. What this means is Wisconsin has a significantly older population than the country at large. Wisconsin residents who are of retirement age, 65 and older, nearly 20% of the population compared to just 18% nationally. What this means is you have got fewer people of working age and fewer people who are in their peak earning years who are supporting more and more retirees. That is what's known as a demographic. death spiral and ask nations like Germany and Japan and China how difficult it is to get out of that. Wisconsin's labor force participation rate, according to Wisconsin manufacturers and commerce, actually peaked in 1997 and has steadily declined ever since. Now, you might be saying, okay, Dan, a lot of these terms, a lot of these trends predate Governor Ivers. This is true. But what is Evers done in eight years to reverse them? Job creation under Tony Evers has slowed to a standstill. In eight years, Wisconsin has gained, and this is almost unbelievable, just a net 1,511 jobs. 1,511 jobs in eight years. This means almost as many jobs have left the state to more competitive states than have been created here in Wisconsin. I don't think I need to tell you that that is utterly horrible. Not only that... Across the state, the crime rate dramatically increased for years under Governor Evers. The homicide rate exploded. And after a brief respite, it's right back up again. At least it was in 2025 when we had the highest murder rate since 2022.

Ever since the decriminalization of crime era, the post-George Floyd, George Floyd effect on policing and George Floyd effect on criminality, we have seen a dramatic increase in both property crime and violent crime, most notably in the homicide rate. Now, You could say, okay, Dan, Governor Evers doesn't have a whole lot to do with this because, let's face it, Wisconsin's crime rate is dictated almost entirely by the city of Milwaukee. That is true. But when this state needed a governor at its hour of need, when one of its cities was quite literally burning to the ground in August of 2020 during the rioting over Jacob Blake, A rapist who is attempting to kidnap his children at knife point and pulled out a curved blade knife on officers and was shot and paralyzed as a result of it, Governor Evers as well as Lieutenant Governor Barnes fanned the flames. He put out a press release at 10 o'clock p.m. at the exact time when people were gathering in Kenosha, presumably to burn it to the ground, which they did. And he basically created the permission structure for them to do that. I will never forget how he or far more likely, one of his staffers, phrase this. Jacob Blake is not the first black person in this state to be shot or brutally killed by law enforcement. This was all but encouraging or justifying the violence that was to come. And in fact, it took Governor Ivers. days to call on the National Guard, even though the Trump administration and Congressman Brian Stile were doing everything they could to try to get the federal cavalry into Kenosha. It wasn't until Kyle Rittenhouse essentially took matters into his own hands and shot two people in what turned out to be justifiable self-defense that Governor Evers finally relented and called in the National Guard. It was one of the most disgusting displays in the history of the Wisconsin governorship. That ultimately is what the state of the state has been under Tony Evers. Confusion punctuated with periods of utter disaster for this state. So I've been watching the Olympics pretty much every morning. My wife and I have been having our coffee and, you know, the kids go off to school. The boys, my older one drives the younger one, of course. And my wife takes my daughter to school. Typically, I'll hang out with the dog for a little bit. And then she'll come back and we'll watch the Olympics. I'll get some work done. And I'm seriously wondering, are there any Olympic sports? besides curling and figure skating? And also, is it like a new thing? I've noticed just in the last two Olympic games that curling has become like the sport that everybody wants to watch. I would rather watch dudes play cornhole at a Memorial Day barbecue than watch curl. Look, I get that it's a lot of skill. But come on, given the choice between that or some dude hurling his body down a sheet of ice face first at 150 miles an hour, I'm going to take the insane daredevil over the fat guy who's chucking a rock down the ice.

That said, I have been absolutely captivated by the Canadian cheating scandal. Apparently both the men's and women's curling team were caught cheating by after releasing the stone, touching it ever so slightly with their finger. Today's unsung hero of the day is an Olympian, and he's an alum of my alma mater, Marquette University, Emery Lehman, who won his second ever Olympic medal today, winning silver with him. Team USA in the Team Pursuit Speed Skating Event. USA finished in 3 minutes 43 seconds, well off the pace of the winner and host country Italy at 339. According to the Journal Sentinel, the head-to-head competition featured a series of qualifying runs, then a semi-final win over China to reach the gold medal pairing. Lehman was paired with... Ethan Kapurran and Casey Dawson, all three were part of the team, that won bronze at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. Lehman is a native of Illinois who lives and trains in Utah. Very good chance you do not have anything on your ballot, but a number of county party chairs and county party representatives have contacted me saying that, hey, there are going to be some races for some of our conservative candidates in Ozaki County, in parts of Waukesha County, Milwaukee County as well. There are primary elections. sure to check myvote.wI.gov. If you have something on your ballot, you can actually see what's on my ballot if you do not have anything show up on your ballot today. That means you do not have a primary election.

For example, there are only two candidates statewide running for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. So that means that both are going to advance to the general election automatically if there was a third candidate, say an Ed Fallone type, who's just going to run for the hell of it, then there would need to be a primary. But because there isn't a primary for everybody. The vast majority of people in this state aren't going to be voting tonight. We will be following the results, of course. But what we are really focused on is that April 7th general election. And that's why we are introducing the Dan O'Donnell show's ultimate conservative voter guide. We are going to all 72 counties. And we are trying to find every single conservative candidate. One thing I get asked every single year without fail is, dan who should i vote for dan who is the conservative candidate in this race well We actually have a staff of people investigating that right now, and we are working with the county Republican parties on trying to get lists of conservative candidates. We are doing our own research to try to vet candidates, to try to figure out who are the most conservative ones that will be part. These are not endorsements. This is not Dan O'Donnell saying to you. You need to vote for this person. This is just me saying this is a conservative. This is a person who has been identified as somebody who is going to stand up for conservative values and is someone that you can vote in confidence for knowing that they likely share your values. They are not going to be looking at this and you are far better served by getting your people to know who it is that they should be voting for because one of the big things that conservatives do not do. is go out and vote because they don't know who it is that they should be voting for. This is one of the things I am convinced and I have been convinced for a long time, depresses turnout. Now, Democrats have no problem. The state party and the 10 billion different 501C3 groups that should absolutely not be doing this sort of thing do this sort of thing every single year.

Labor unions, teachers unions, they all do this. They print voter guides for all of their people so that they can know exactly who it is that they should be voting for. I am so pleased to be joined on the Dan O'Donnell Show by Michael Alfonso. He is a congressional candidate who was just at one of the wildest school board races. I think I have ever seen. Michael, welcome to the Dan O'Donnell Show. Hey, Dan. Thanks for having me on. Well, the pleasure is all mine. How many people do you think don't know about what's going on in New Richmond but need to? The New Richmond School District has been getting national attention for all of the wrong reasons because of a transgender bathroom policy. And we just actually reported exclusively here on the Dan O'Donnell show in the 3 o'clock hour that none other than Chrissy Taylor, state Supreme Court candidate, actually proposed a similar transgender... bathroom bill has no problem with tampons in the boys bathroom but the new richmond school district michael they don't want just tampons in the boys bathroom they want boys in the girls bathroom right well that's exactly right and you say who needs to know about this every single taxpayer in new richmond you are paying for this lunacy you know they they didn't even tell parents that this policy was in place some people say it's been in place for 10 years I mean, the parents found out about this when there was finally a brave young girl who actually told her parents this was going on. And they called an emergency school board meeting where the school board, the cowardly school board, voted two to four to one abstaining to keep the policy in place. They were afraid of the over 500 parents that were in the meeting, and they decided to table it for today. And my wife and I are actually heading back to New Richmond right now. And yes, and we will keep everyone up to date on what they officially decide what to do. Okay. See, I'm so glad you called about this, Michael, because I thought this was tabled until like a month or two from now. I did not realize that the next meeting was tonight. So are you literally calling me from the car right now on your way up to New Richmond? Yep, I'm calling you from a cynics on the way to New Rich. That is fantastic. Yeah, make sure you get yourself a light dinner and go to battle for us. Well, I don't even know if I can get dinner because I might throw up if they decide to keep going the same way they're going.

What do you think the final decision is going to be? Do you think because I know Jessica over at Wisconsin right now, I know Scarlett Johnson, who is a great advocate with Moms for Liberty. I know you and your wife, Evita, by the way, the daughter of the person who formerly held the seat you're now running for, Sean Duffy, has been drawing attention to this. We sort of briefly mentioned it. on this show. But I think with all the attention that has been paid to this, do you think that there's a chance that New Richmond does the right thing tonight? You know, honestly, as someone who went to college during COVID and BLM and saw what all, everything happened under the Biden administration, I'm not generally hopeful in our government. But here's what I can tell you. Sometimes conservatives feel like they can't win this. This is a winnable issue. This is a district with sane parents and they need to not stop. pushing they can't give up hope they need to play the long game because there are elections coming up for these school board members and if they don't make the right decisions we will make them pay for it in april and are there a lot of these members who are up in april So it's kind of a strange election system. There are three seats open and four candidates running. So only one person could possibly be replaced from the board. Now, I will say the board was horrible. I do want to give a shout out to Mr. Ben Englehart. He was an absolute champion for the parents, for all the daughters, the girls in that district. He was a rock star. I also want to formally put in that Christy Westland. She's running for school board. Moms for Liberty fully endorses her. I got the chance to meet her. You need to put her on your list, Dan. She is a rock star as well. All right. Yeah. And any help that you or your campaign could provide up in the 7th Congressional District, we will absolutely take it. Michael Alfonso, who is running for Congress. Michael, if you don't mind, could I ask a question or two about your congressional campaign? absolutely all right so you have a rather unique background you are 26 years old now yep 26 years old that is uh remarkable you would actually be would you be the youngest member of congress certainly one of the youngest if you're elected in november right I would be the youngest in the country if elected, yep. That is actually kind of remarkably. You are also the son-in-law of Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy. Obviously, we know him very well, great friend of the show. The former congressional representative in the 7th Congressional District represented it with distinction. You're married to his daughter of Vita. And that, I'm not going to sugarcoat it.

That has led to some allegations of nepotism here, that you're backed by Sean and you're backed by the Duffy family. You've got the Trump endorsement because obviously Trump loves Sean Duffy. But you're a 25, 26 year old. I know you worked with, we do love Dan Bongino in his podcast. But how do you answer the sort of allegations and the sort of rumblings I'm hearing up there that, you know, This kid hasn't paid his dues. This is sort of a nepotism hire that if he wasn't married into the Duffy family, we wouldn't have heard about him. I guess make your case to some of those skeptics. Yeah, you know, I would tell you that anyone that thinks you can walk into the 7th District, the biggest district east of the Mississippi with some simple name recognition and win this race doesn't know anything about the 7th District. These voters want to meet the person they're going to vote for. They want to look them in the eye and know that he's genuine. And that's what we're doing. We're going to every single county, and we're not just asking for a vote. We're earning that vote. And I would just say, you know, When it comes to the Trump endorsement, I set across from him in the Oval Office. I made my case, and I promised him no one would ever outwork me. No one will have more energy for the 7th District than this 26-year-old you're talking to, and no one will ever outwork me. So, yeah, you know, people can have some claims, and they can judge why I got into this race. But let me tell you exactly why I got into this race. They shot Charlie Kirk. This is a guy I've known. I've met him. And even though he might not remember me, he's been on my phone since I was in high school. And when that moment happened, that was it. You know, I went through college during COVID and BLM. I didn't wear a mask. I was put on academic probation for not taking a vaccine. I took it. I was, I didn't take the vaccine. I allowed this to all to happen and to unfold because I didn't want anything to do with politics. It wasn't until they shot Charlie, a Christian, a father, a conservative, that I knew it's time for some action. And that's why I jumped into this race. And I guess your conservative bona fides, your, you know, your resume, do you think that's a disadvantage? Because I know the other candidates in the race, I mean, you've got some fairly accomplished conservatives. Obviously, in this district. It is thanks to the work of your father-in-law, who really revolutionized. I mean, Dave Obie, was a Democrat and represented it for, boy, about 175 years. And then he wanted no part of Sean Duffy when Sean first announced his run. So he retired. And it has been a deep, deep red district ever since. So the winner of the primary is almost certainly going to win the general election. Your opponents in that race have said, well, wait a second. He's 25. What has he done? Would he be able to be in that meeting in the Oval Office sitting across from President Trump if he wasn't married to who he's married with, too?

Yeah, you know, I would tell you when it comes to experience, I've spent six years working construction. I spent a year working with Dan Bongino as his producer on the radio show and the podcast. But, you know, when it comes to President Trump... He had the opportunity to endorse any candidate in this race, and he chose me. He evaluated the experience. He evaluated the character and the convictions of each candidate. And he chose me because he knows that no one will fight harder for the people of the 7th and President Trump's agenda than I will. So you're saying you are totally in line with President Trump, the MAGA agenda. What is your basic platform? Like, why are you the conservative choice? Independent of the Trump endorsement, which I think obviously, I mean, as we've seen in Wisconsin politics and nationwide, Trump endorsement just carries a tremendous amount of weight. So this is a significant advantage for you in this race. But independent of that. What is the case that you're making to voters of the 7th Congressional District that you are going to be their man in Washington? Because I can tell you there is also, and I'm just, you've got to understand, I'm sort of following this from hundreds of miles away down south. So I'm just sort of hearing, you know, all the rumblings, the idea that you are sort of a carpetbagger, that you're not really... of the district that you're not really living in the district that you're just sort of coming back because it's going to be an easy congressional district like how do you assuage those sorts of fears yeah you know i i actually really appreciate the tough questions because i want a chance to tell everyone and let them get any chance ask any question anytime But you know what, in terms of a percentage of life spent in the district, I've spent more of my life in this district than any other candidate in the race. That's actually true. That is statistically true because I kind of looked that up. I actually, it must have, I was emailed by one of your supporters who told me that same thing a couple of weeks ago when a lot of this was kind of going down. And they said, well, if it's a percentage of his life spent in the district, they actually broke down the math, I'm like, By God, they're correct. So that is true. From the age of four when I started playing hockey, I think I've been to every single Catholic church in the district. And let me tell you why that matters. It's because I've been around the district my entire life. I view everyone here as my family. And no one will fight harder for something than fighting for your family. And that's why I want to represent this district. because I deeply care about it. It's my home. And I will never let it turn into the communist healthcape that's happening in New York or even Madison. You know, I had the esteemed honor of voting against Francesca Hong because I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Well, that's enough conservative bona fides for me. You say the communist hellhole of New York, what about the communist hellhole of New Richmond? Michael, I really do appreciate, and just so were clear, Michael had no idea. You contacted me and say, hey, I want to come on and talk about New Richmond stuff. I don't want to be accused of sandbagging you and asking you those tough questions, but you didn't really know that they were coming. And I really do appreciate your willingness to answer those and to just talk honestly. That really does speak volumes about you. Dan, we're not liberals. We're not afraid of questions. This is true. Do appreciate Michael Alfonso, congressional candidate in the 7th Congressional District, joining us, giving us an update on what's going on in New Richmond. They desperately want the boys in the girls' bathrooms up there. He also was a real good sport. I did not get a chance to. Normally, it's just considered good journalistic practice. He... contacted me and say, hey, can I give you an update on this? I said, yeah, absolutely. I haven't really done anything on the new Richmond controversy, which had been a big, big thing on social media. And I wanted to ask him all of the questions that have sort of been swirling around his campaign that really got escalated after he got that Trump endorsement. Let's just... be totally honest with ourselves, in a race like that, that probably is going to put him over the top. And as he said, he would be the single youngest member of Congress if he's to win. He's 26 years old. He worked in construction. He worked as a producer of the Dan Bongino podcast. And people are saying, well, wait a second. Would this guy have any chance if he wasn't married to Evita Duffy? who, of course, is the daughter of Rachel Campos Duffy of Fox News and, of course, the Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy. Now, don't get me wrong. I love the Duffy family. Sean has been nothing but great to me. In fact, we used to do when he was in Congress every year right around St. Patrick's Day, he would come into studio. We'd have a whole lot of fun, and we would do a big interview and just, you know, shoot the breeze and all that stuff. But... There are serious questions about a nepotism and B, qualifications. And I actually have to tell you for not knowing that those questions were coming. And I honestly, I felt like a little, I felt like I should have said. He called right before we went on the air. I didn't have a chance to go off the air and say, hey, I want to ask you these questions. He answered them gamely and he is right statistically. He has, just to be clear, there are a number of other candidates in this race, including one. who is actually one of the hostages. He was one of the Iran hostage crisis hostages. And he's been a very, very successful businessman. Everybody in this race essentially has questions about whether or not they're carpetbagging and whether or not they're just coming back to the district in order to run for this seat. Because again, it's almost certainly going to go to the winner of this primary. It's just there's not going to be a strong Democratic candidate. But you take a look. at the congressional race in 2024, in which you had a whole lot of candidates, Andre Jacques, Roger Roth, and a relative unknown by the name of Tony Weed, who ended up getting the Trump nomination. And that was it. I mean, that was basically the deciding factor. Now, the Trump endorsement clearly is coming to Michael Alfonso because of that Duffy family connection.

But the fact that Alfonso was willing to answer those questions with no foreknowledge that they're coming, that tells me that he is. And, you know, I don't want to say like, well, you know, there's a kid. You know, what do I always say? I want the next generation. Like, I want the next generation to embrace conservatism. I do believe that Michael's generation, he's a Gen Zier, I think. I'm taking a wild guess. He's not a millennial. He's 20. Oh, God, he was born in the 2000s. All right, vote against Michael Alfonso just for that. I don't know if I can handle a congressman born in 2000. I'm still getting over the fact that the vice president is younger than me. Oh, my old butt. But no, age alone is not a reason to vote against somebody. The fact that the person might not have political experience alone is not. Tony Wheat has been a fantastic congressman for the Green Bay Area. He's been tremendous for that district. His performance in committee hearings has been spectacular. I hear his constituent services game is very, very strong. He's just been a very, very good congressman. And I have no doubt that Michael Alfonso will be too. But there is that that is the big question around him. I mean, when Scott Fitzgerald, for example, decided he was going to run for Congress, nobody said, well, what's he done? Who's the leader of the state Senate? He's been around politics for much of his adult life. Brian Stile, when he was a staffer forever. He had been around politics, a very impressive guy. Both of those guys are excellent congressional representatives. And I have, I truly, I have no doubt Michael Alfonso would be too. And frankly, I don't really have a horse of this. If any of the other candidates up there would like to call in and be guests on the show, I'm not like, did you follow the controversy about Stephen Colbert today? He wanted to have James Talarico on, who's running for the U.S. Senate down in Texas, and his boss is at the... at CBS told him, no, don't air this interview because then we would have to give equal time. The equal time doctrine says if a candidate for office is given an interview on a news show, you need to provide equal time to their opponent within a certain window before an election, before a primary, before a general election. CBS obviously didn't want. What are they running against Ted Cruz? You really think Ted Cruz that CBS Stephen Colbert wants to have Ted Cruz on? No, of course not.

So, you know, I'll tell you what. We're going to step aside for a break because we are going to talk in the next five minutes. But my point is that anybody else who's running in that primary wants to come on, we'll put them on, of course. We'll do that. Scott Manley, WMC, coming up next. Welcome back to the Dan O'Donnell Show. Governor Evers delivers his state of the state address tonight. And while he's going to say the state of Wisconsin is strong, we have incredible data from Wisconsin manufacturers and commerce. That shows it is not. The Wisconsin Competitiveness Report came out two weeks ago, and we outlined some of the data earlier on today in the Dan O'Donnell Show. We covered this extensively when it first came out. Joining us now to talk about it once again and to offer something of a preview of the Wisconsin State of the State address. Once again, here is Scott Manley of WNC, WMC, excuse me. Scott, welcome back to the Dan O'Donnell Show. Thanks for having me back, Dan. Well, the pleasure is all mine, sir. Again, I said two weeks ago that I thought this was one of the more important studies that's been done in Wisconsin in years. And Governor Evers declared last year to be the year of the kid. Well, this year, kids have gotten a lot more expensive because he wants $450 million in general purpose education spending. After his 400-year veto increased the revenue limit by $325 per student for the next four centuries, and this just is not good education policy, is it? No, it really isn't. And look, the problem isn't that we're not generous with our tax money for education. We are. I mean, as the report noted, since 2000, we've more than doubled what we spend per kid on education. But the results don't show it. In fact, the results for reading comprehension and math proficiency have actually gone down. And they have been going down, Dan. And we're at the point now where, I mean, on a statewide basis, we've got about 61% of kids who can't do math proficiently, and we've got 69% of kids who can't read proficiently. Now, that's statewide. When we look at Milwaukee, the state's largest school district, 76% of kids in Milwaukee public schools cannot read proficiently, and 80% can't do math proficiently. Wait, 76% of all MPS students are not reading at grade level, and 8 out of 10 cannot do math at grade level.

That's correct. And those aren't my numbers. Those are DPI's numbers. Jeez. So, you know, look, throwing more money at this problem indiscriminately isn't going to fix it. We've got to be smart about how we spend the money. And as we talked about on your show last time and what's in the report, it documents that... Since the year 2000, we have lost 65,000 kids in the system just because our birth rates are so low. We've lost 2,700 teachers, but we've added 8,000 non-instructional staff. And, you know, as a taxpayer and somebody who wants my money that I give to the government to be spent correctly and wisely, I'm just not on board with giving a bunch of more money to hire non-instructional staff in schools. The money isn't making its way into the classroom, and we shouldn't expect better results. when the money isn't making its way into the classroom. Well, especially since the student population, K-12 public schools in Wisconsin, has declined by 65,000. Yet at the same time, the number of teachers has declined, right? More modest rate. Well, was it 2,000 or 3,000 fewer teachers than there were in 2000? You would expect that, 65,000 fewer kids to educate. The fact that there are 8,000 more non-teaching staff members. is frankly, that's insulting. All right. And when you've got a governor who's supposedly the education governor, and he's demanding more money, so much so that he doesn't even think that school districts should have to go before voters in the form of school referenda, that they should just get $325 bucks more per student per year for the next four centuries, to then have those districts turn around and spend it on assistant principals. I don't know what football coaches, education curriculum specialists. How many janitors does a school day? I don't even know what sort of non-teaching staff. How you increase that exponentially, the number of non-teaching staff, all the while we've seen such a precipitous decline in the number of kids and the number of teachers. It's insulting. Well, and the thing that's probably the most frustrating for us is we don't even have an education system that's willing to admit that we have a problem. Correct. I mean, we have a state superintendent in Jill Underley and a governor in Tony Evers who are in denial. I mean, they keep dumbing down the achievement levels. Yes. Both for reading and math proficiency. but also the school report cards that get done every year, the DPI does. I mean, we have a situation. Let's take a look at a real-world example here. Right in Milwaukee, Maple Tree Elementary, and this is DPI data, and it was in a report that our friends at Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty did, they highlighted the fact that at Maple Tree Elementary,

82% of the kids cannot do, cannot read at grade level, and 92% of kids. Can't do math at grade level, but under Jill Underley's report card, the Department of Public Instruction says not only do they meet expectations, they exceed expectations. That's just, I mean, if only 8% of your kids can do math and 13% can read, and that's exceeding expectations, what in the world are the expectations? I mean, you have. And then to add insult to injury. They have an all expenses paid jaunt to the Wisconsin Dells for a luxurious stay at the Chula Vista so they can dumb down testing standards to make it seem like more kids are proficient. More kids are at grade level. And then, of course, all of that is undone when the national testing standards, the NAEP tests come out and show, hey, wait a second. The books are clearly being cooked here. I mean, it seems to me that one of the biggest problems that we have in Wisconsin losing competitiveness is the fact that I have no trouble saying we have a thoroughly corrupt K-12 public education system from DPI on down. And what it means for our economic competitiveness, Dan, is this. We already know, because of demographics and our crashing birth rates, that the pipeline of young workers coming into the workforce is not what we need it to be. But then when we're failing to educate the ones that we do have, that's a huge problem. We just did a statewide survey of our member CEOs, got the data back last month. 64% of them said that they have employees who struggle to read or do math. And 56% of them more than half said that our K-12 education system is not adequately preparing kids to meet the needs of the workforce. So we already are under this severe number crunch in terms of what our future workforce looks like. And we're just not educating them. I mean, you cannot as a society expect to have a functioning workforce when two out of three kids can't read or do math at grade level. It just simply isn't going to work. It's a real problem. And our state superintendent and our governor won't even admit that it's a problem.

You know, I put a lot of blame on Jill Underley because she's the one who fudged the standards. But the Republican legislature sent a bill to Tony Evers to say, okay, you can't do that. Let's put the standards back to where they were. And he vetoed it. Yep. Yes, he did. Yes, he did. Even though he said, well. I believe his quote was when the numbers were changed and the books were cooked. He said, well, that's not saying you remember. He's, of course, the former state superintendent. He said, well, that's not something I would have done. But then he vetoes any chance to undo it, meaning he absolutely would have done that. The number of teachers in Wisconsin schools has, of course, gone down by about 2,000 to 3,000, according to WMC. The number of non-teaching positions going up by 8,000? How can you possibly justify that except as essentially welfare for people with education degrees paid for by taxpayers? Do you need 15?

curriculum specialists at MPS central office. You most certainly do not. And you could justify it if student test scores were going through the roof. They're not. They're plummeting. And what does DPI do? Well, they cook the books. They rig the cut scores so that it looks like more schools are passing. More students are passing. They clearly are not.
