Jeffrey's got the sound, right, keeping an eye on the content. At seven minutes after the hour, the death toll of the winter storm now stands at around nearly three dozen, 34, across multiple states. We still have about 525,000 without power. Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana represent about 60% of that with over 100,000 in each state. And that's with progress. Temperatures still very cold, ice still not melting. That means road conditions and power outages are still possible. Meanwhile, what a difference 24 hours makes. Gregory Bovino. Out in Minneapolis, with many agents, a very productive call between the president and Tim Walz. The president making it very clear, he does not like seeing Americans dying. He's very interested in a full, thorough investigation. Some indications are president didn't like what he saw in that second video. And he's out with Bovino, in with who he trusts. And that's Tom Homan. Tough, but fair.

On his way. To be point person, not only on the illegal immigration issue and turning over the felons specifically, and then being on his way, but also to investigate the Somali widespread fraud as well. He'll be point person on both. So that's progress. Meanwhile, you've got Iran who's on the brink of tipping. And obviously that's conditions warranting a lieutenant colonel. So say hello to James Carapano. I think one of the finest military and foreign policy minds in America today. And he's not traveling. And I suppose even though he's more used to it, he's somewhere in the snow and cold. Good morning, Lieutenant Colonel. Hey, well, unlike Tennessee, Washington, D.C. and the district really ever has power outages. So, boy, I feel for everybody down there. And all your listeners, I've got to say. You know, 34 people, the NFL sounds terrible. But this thing struck the entire country. Like 200 million people were affected. So actually, I think America has really been exemplary here. And I think it's particularly interesting how powerful our grid has actually held up. Because, you know. Can't do anything about the wires coming down. But the grid itself has been incredibly resilient. Huge contrasts with Europe where they're really struggling. We'll have a grid issues, electricity, gas, oil prices all through the roof, really demonstrating the difference between the two different approaches to... national, you know, ensuring electric power and really even an emergency response. I think the country's done amazing, really quite honestly, for the storm, really the storm of the century. But it's municipality by municipality, by county by county. They must have done a very good job of, A, notifying the threat to the citizens as well as finding ways to get them to these shelters. You're right, out of over 245 million affected, a death toll of 34 has some silver linings in it, although each one of those lives are invaluable. You bring up a great point, though. I mean, we didn't know in this era of electric... vehicles and capacity expansions, primarily that of AI, you know, how the grid would stand up to such a test and it did. That's worthy of pointing out. You know, it's interesting. The other thing, too, is look at the state and federal cooperation. We all talk about this war between the federal government and the blue states, but blue state, red state doesn't matter. Matter of fact, you know, we have a blue state in Virginia. You could not find a... emergency operations official in Virginia, who has any qualms at all about the cooperation or issues with the cooperation between the federal and the state government. So that has been exceptional. So people can talk about, you know, America is at the break and all you want, but we just thought 300 plus million Americans pulled together as people, figure this out, get through this week in an outstanding manner. I can't think of anything more impressive.

No, and at the same time, the president getting together with Tim Walz and reversing things in Minnesota. I know you've been following this, and I just wanted for perspective's sake, we don't know if it's 6,000 or 30,000 that have been killed protesting in Iran. We're at two, the first video, a woman who, you know, if... You know, I always say it this way. If local law enforcement was cooperating, they would have secured a perimeter. She's not in that vehicle. She's not being ginned up and trained up to make a split second decision to go into reverse, then drive, and then proceed towards an agent that led to her death. But the second video was different. He was disarmed before he was shot. And clearly the president didn't like that video. Once it investigated, I don't know if we're going to see much of Stephen Miller in the next few days or even. Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem, I do know that Vino's out and Tom Homan's in and the president trusts Tom Homan. And it looks as though there's been some kind of negotiation. Give us the bad guys and we'll be on our way. Could this have been done from the beginning? It's the right way out. That's for sure. Well, yeah, absolutely. So let me tell a couple things about Tom Homan, who is an old friend who I work with many, many years. And there's no one I have greater respect for it. He is such a common sense, because you've seen all the social media about, you know, Obama giving him medals for deporting people and now left attacking him. But there isn't a more principled law enforcement. This is not a kid. This is a guy for sure retired a couple of times, right? He's doing this because he loves his country. He doesn't mess around. He speaks for the President of the United States. So it is the strongest presence you could put. On the shooting, you might say a couple of things. One is, look, when you are interfering with the law enforcement in the conduct of his job, that is a crime. you have a right to carry, a second amendment right to carry a gun. That is not a protection against being arrested by the police. When you go into a bank, his bank robber goes in a bank because he has a gun. He says, all the second amendment right, we can't stop him, rob me a bank. So he was committing a crime, no question about that. The second thing is, in that state, As I understand it, you are required to carry an identification if you're doing concealed carry. Apparently he was not. Also, that is a problem. That is not a lawful concealed carry. And the third thing is, and this is not a law thing, but this is, and actually, this is just common sense. If you are doing concealed carry and you are in engagement with a law enforcement in the context of law enforcement duties. What do you do? You're supposed to tell him. Yeah. I am doing concealed carry, right? And, and then you follow directions of law enforcement officers. So his acts, I don't, whatever the video, they were completely reckless. And being, you know, sorry, the son of a law enforcement officer, who, I don't if I ever tell you this story, the very last day, the last day.

My father was on the job the very last day before he retired. He pulled over a guy. He walked up to the car. The guy rolled down a window. He put a gun in my father's face and he pulled the trigger. Well, the gun did go off. Oh, praise God. But it turned out that this guy was a, had him selling a murder warrant down him. My dad could have been dead. Now, my dad could have shot the guy, I guess. I don't know. But, you know, I think my dad ever pulled his gun and all years he was on. Of course, the point is, law enforcement officers have to make split-second decisions. And our job as civilians is to not impede them in the conduct of their duties, of their lawful duties. And this is what, whether it's a woman or a guy, this is what happens when you put. people at risk and it's just wrong. And then the second guess these poor guys were trying to make these decisions. And remember, the whole intent of these operations is to interfere with them and make it impossible for them to do their lawful duty. That's reprehensible. You didn't say one thing, you didn't say one thing that is invalid. You didn't say one thing I disagree with other than, I will add, nor does anybody like the optic or the political narrative or visual. of an American citizen being shot who clearly had already had, it wasn't communicated clearly, and he didn't handle it well. You immediately tell an officer if you have a weapon, you put your hands where they can see him, you actually get down on the ground, and let them disarm you and then obey them. I get all of that, but nobody likes the sight of, and the narrative ability of seeing someone killed like this. I think the president has remarkably pardoned this choice of words, disarmed this. political narrative and situation in a 24-hour period that we'll remember for a long, long time. This is brilliant. And now Holman's in, working with the governor. They're going to get the better. And that's something about Tom Homan we should talk about. I think Tom's more like me. I'm not after the one that came in illegally and hasn't done anything but work since. I'm after the ones that came in with them. that are human traffickers, drug traffickers, drug lords, gang members, killers, robbers, and drains on our economy. And I think that's all Tom Homan wants. And I think he'll negotiate that and be on his way. Well, first of all, I think we should deport all their legal aliens because of all computer crimes. But that's the year or there. The last thing I'll say about Minneapolis and Minnesota is... What's going on there, and you see all the data about arresting people all over the country. They're not having incidents like they are in Minneapolis. There is infrastructure, people recruited and sent and resources to create a sustained intifada against the enforcement of the law. If you say, okay, here's the deal. We will stop enforcing the law in Minnesota. You know what's going to happen?

All that infrastructure. All those people, they're going to get back on buses and they're going to move to the next city. No, I think this brilliantly diffuses that, too, though. Well, no, because we'll just recreate it in the next city. What you have to do is, and again, we're not talking about legal protests. Legal protest is all you want, do all the civil abuse of you want, have a nice day. If illegally interfering with police activities is a crime, and when you organize to do that, that is a RICO crime, and all that money, all that infrastructure, all those activities, that network needs to get broken. Absolutely. That's the only way in the sense. Well, let me rephrase it this way. Could that be part of what Tom Homan's going to be doing while he's there, in addition to the Somali fraud, in addition to getting the bad guys? I think that the FBI and those guys are working on that. But for people who think that, you know, the answer here is, oh, just pull out of Minneapolis and stop enforcing the law. That is not a good answer, my opinion. No one's suggesting that. Nor is the president sending Tom Homan. No, we have Republicans who are suggesting that. Well. Agreeing with, you know, what can I tell you? I mean, but they're wrong. I just think they're wrong. Because that is not solving the problem. That is just moving the problem to another city. We're down to two minutes. But, you know, one of the things over the course of decades that I've been working with you, we have, you know, merging threats happen. You can have China rear its head or Russia rear its head, but always in the war on terror that continues through different radical organizations. But the one clear and persistent thing we've never taken our eye off at over 25 years has been Iran. the most predictable threat to a region in the world. And we are still on the brink of perhaps this Mullah regime toppling. Where do we stand with that and are you optimistic? I know one minute's not fair, but... Well, one I don't know because it does appear that momentum has stalled the regions kind of... I mean, the regime's kind of stabilized a bit. aircraft carrier group is probably going to be in position in days. It very much looks like the president is pursuing kind of the same playbook in Venezuela. But a big part of that plane book was talking to people behind the scenes, negotiating and everything else. And, of course, we don't have any visibility on any of that. So exactly when this plays out. And, you know, I think it's still up in the air. Not going to fall on its own. It's going to need a push. Yeah, I don't think the president has a problem with the push, but the thing about Venezuela is the push at the right time. And the other thing you have to remember, he likes tactical surprise, right? So whatever we think is going to happen. you know, the president likes to keep the adversaries on edge and move on off of them. So we'll see how it plays out. Bovino has been serving as Customs and Border Protection Commander at large. A position seen as temporary. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Trisham McLaughlin issued a statement Monday saying that Bovino had not been relieved of his duties. His departure comes as Border Patrol is planning to also drop the number of agents in Minneapolis this week, according to multiple reports. All of this follows a fatal shooting over the weekend of 37-year-old Alex Preddy by a federal immigration agent. I'm Mark Mefield. Your morning show, White House correspondent John Decker asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt about why Trump is sending Tom Homan to Minneapolis. Is he being sent by the president to diffuse... the situation that exists right now on the ground. Is he the point person essentially for the White House in terms of trying to tap down the tensions that exist right now in Minnesota? Well, Mr. Tom Homan is the point person for cooperating with state and local authorities and corresponding with them, again, to achieve this level of cooperation, to subdue the chaos on the streets of Minneapolis. They're preparing to speed up passage of five government funding bills to avoid partial government shutdown. And the president has announced he's going to raise tariffs on imports from South Korea by 25. If you're just waking up, we say always revealing, often entertaining, and it's been a while since we've done it. From the snow, suffer not thy sounds of the day. I want to do it. Wait, now the consequences. The best way to get back on your feet is to get up off your ass. I've been living rent-free in that guy's head for years, and that's just a boat. Do you call that chickening out? They're just blowing off steam. Well, you know me. I'm not a fan of the two-party system, especially what it's become. And what it's become is, while the Democrat Party has played a lot of games, not the least of which is they become the platform of the Socialist Party of the 1920s. And that's by design. They want to first take over the Democrat Party, then remove the electoral college, and then dismantle the Republic. So they've actually become ideologically a very dangerous, quite frankly, party. They played the game with Barack Obama. We're a democracy. We're a democracy. We're a republic. We're a government of laws. And it's about the power of the people, not the power of politicians who are literally staying till death and getting very rich. What's interesting is they like to play political theater. And they'll play that for you to see. Immigration is a great issue. The bottom line is the left loves the power and they love the cheap boats. So they harvest them. The right likes profit and they like the chief labor. So they all talk a good game, but none are interested in actually solving it. But at least they used to talk a good game. Donald Trump not only talked it, he did it. And he's still doing it. And that makes him very different. I've noticed how viral it has gotten on social media, these old clips. Yes, it wasn't long ago in 2008. When Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and Democrats were on the same page with exactly what the Trump administration is trying to do. And yes, it's hypocritical. And yes, it points to political theater and the two-party problem. Here's Hillary. I think we got to have tough conditions. Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they've committed a crime, deport them. No questions asked, they're gone. If they've been working and our law abiding, we should say, here are the conditions for you staying. You have to pay a stiff fine because you came here illegally. You have to pay back taxes, and you have to try to learn English, and you have to wait in line. What's going to happen is you are going to pay a significant fine. You are going to learn English. You are going to go to the back of the line so that you don't get ahead of somebody who was in Mexico City applying legally. I think the American people, they appreciate and believe in immigration. But they can't have a situation where you just have half a million people pouring over the border.

without any kind of mechanism to control it. We all in this body, and I know I can speak very firmly for the Democrats, support strong border control. And it must be part and the first part. So what changed in Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton? Not the law. Not common sense, not the will of the American people. In fact, the American people in 2026 stand exactly with that rhetoric from 2008. Criminals gone. Now, you just heard Lieutenant Colonel James Carapano, who is sticking to the true letter of the law, of course, one of the practical problems to that is... When you let in 20 million illegals, it would take a long time to process all of them. But you would certainly start by sealing the border, and the president has effectively. You didn't need Congress. You just needed a new president. Because you didn't really need new laws, you just needed the laws that we already had enacted. And the border is sealed. Bleeding is stopped. Now, what do you do with those that are already in here? Well, you find the most dangerous and get rid of them first, right? But look how the rhetoric has changed. They were never interested when they were saying it. Left and right will tell you what you want to hear. Donald Trump was the first to do it. Now here's Hillary Clinton years later caught in one of these situations. Now the biggest difference is CNN doesn't even ask them about current situations anymore, but when it did happen in San Francisco and you catch them. Here's how they respond. Last week, an undocumented immigrant who had been deported five times killed a 32-year-old woman and Kate Steinley in San Francisco, a sanctuary city where local law enforcement does not enforce federal immigration laws. When you last round for president, you supported sanctuary cities in light of this terrible incident. Does that change anything about your view on this? Well, what should be done is any city should listen to the Department of Homeland Security, which, as I understand it, urged them to deport this man again after he got out of prison another time. This is 2015. I wonder if Hillary feels the same way about Minnesota today. You know, here's a case where we've deported, we've deported, we've deported, we've deported, he ends back up in our country. I think the city made a mistake. The city made a mistake not to deport someone that the federal government strongly felt should be deported. Yeah, I've always said the things that we never say out loud. Because you can't get the right answers unless you ask the right questions. What is the proper size and role of the government? What is the role and the responsibility of the self-governed? Can an immoral people who are clearly in a cultural war against specific gods, rights and wrongs, and self-evident truths? Can they self-govern? How did we get duped into a two-party system that divides us all while they're secretly united getting rich?

Because if we are a constitutional republic and a government of laws where representatives represent the people who are really the empowered ones, how does all this happen? We had a listener earlier suggest this is just their blind hatred for Donald Trump. Don't be fooled by that. The reason Barack Obama wanted to usher in democracy, democracy, democracy, And on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, because they don't want you reading that document. They don't want you understanding we're a republic. That's why for 20 plus years, they haven't taught civics and common education. They've revised history in textbooks, in classrooms, in motion pictures. And they do it in real time and reality, controlling narratives on television, radio, print. Heck, Joe Biden even gave it a soul, the soul of the democracy. And then the bait and switched you into believing that democracy, true democracy, is the Democrat Party platform and its candidates. Now, anybody that opposes their candidates or their policies or their platform, well, you're an enemy of the state. You're against democracy.

citizens and statesmen serving citizens. It's not just the solution for this issue. It's the solution for our republic. Problem is we have too few statesmen. All right, everybody. Lock and low. Look, you've just got to try harder, not to suck. So I'm glad for the opportunity for a brief civics lesson. You're a fashion. It's your morning show with Michael Deljourno. Senate Democrats are working to speed up passage of five government funding bills in hopes avoiding a partial shutdown. Michael Castner reports. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer made the announcement on Monday. However, the Democrats plan will exclude funding for the Department of Homeland Security. If a deal can't be reached by Friday, it would result in a partial government shutdown. Chuck Schumer said in a statement that it's now the responsibility of the Senate Republicans who control the Senate to prevent that from happening. I'm Michael Castner. Avino's out and Holman's in. Southwest Airlines is ending its longstanding open seat policy effective today. And today is a very special day. Today's national day we celebrate is the number one choice for cake. So your task today, get a chocolate cake and a fork. Sharing not required. I'm Bree Tennis. A major shift in 24 hours. resolve law and order and cooperation in Minneapolis. Not much of a change on the weather front. Our national correspondent, Roy O'Neill is keeping an eye on both. On the weather front, well, half a million still without power. Temperatures frigid. That means the ice remains and power outages remain possible and not much progress in terms of getting planes in the air either, right? Right. We're still looking at a lot of cancellations from coast to coast as these airports are trying to recover. Right now we've got about 1,500 flights in the U.S. that have already been canceled today. That's on top of the thousands that were canceled while this massive storm system moved across the U.S. A lot of the disruptions still in the northeast affecting LaGuardia, JFK, Boston in particular.

And because of the icing situation, you know, you've got airports in Tennessee still struggling there as well. So this has been a real challenge for the airlines to get back on track. But the Transportation Secretary thinks they could largely be recovered from this event as early as tomorrow. All right. The NTSB is preparing to announce the next steps in its investigation into the DCA plane helicopter collision. What's the latest on this? You know, Thursday, the day after tomorrow, marks one year since that collision. And there's a day-long meeting today, essentially looking at what they've learned in the past year, investigating that collision. They killed 67 people. Also the best practices moving forward. You know, we got to figure out some way in order to keep that runway operational at Reagan National Airport. And at the same time, giving helicopter routes, that priority access. they need in that same area. So that's really going to be the focus of the discussion and making sure that these aircraft follow their assigned orders. It appears that Black Hawk helicopter was about 80 feet out of position at the time of the collision. So how do we prevent that from happening again? Yeah, I don't know why they're in the same area as a landing. Glide slope doesn't make much sense to me, but we'll see what they resolve. All right, so President clearly views this video a little differently and wants it authentically and unbiased investigated. He also might not like the way the Homeland Security Director, Christy Knoom, bought an early narrative and somewhere with the carrying out of leadership on the ground, make a long story short, Bovino's out, Tom Homan's in. That's quite a turnaround in 24 hours. It is. It's also a much more traditional kind of position to take, right? And like a position Tom Homan took following the Renee Good shooting. Essentially, let's sit back and wait before we pass judgment and see what the investigation tells us rather than... jump to conclusions, some of which seem to be countered by the video out there. So Tom Homan, as you said, is in. He's going to be at least having some sort of communication with the mayor of Minneapolis now relatively soon, maybe today, and they'll see if we can strike a path forward that turns down the temperature in an already bitter cold Minnesota. I wonder how they're going to, some of these ginned up paid activists, how they're going to view the governor and the mayor in Minnesota, Minneapolis, once this cooperation takes place.
