Starting your morning off right? A new way of talk. A new way of understanding. Because we're in this together. This is your morning show with Michael Del Turner. How am I supposed to do that? I can't do a show today and do that for you. What are you talking about? You're wanting me to not... Give away the ending of the football game? I did not see from the end of the third quarter to the end of the game. I can't do a new show. Can you imagine waking up in Williamsport, Pennsylvania this morning, listening to News Radio 1400 WRAK. Yeah. Williamsport's News and Weather Station got a brand new morning show. And the guy won't tell you who won the Super Bowl. They're probably New England fans, aren't they? I'm supposed to say. Because you didn't see the ending of it? I fell asleep. I don't know. Just don't ruin it for me because I've got it. Well, the Seattle Seahawks dominated the Patriots 29 to 13 to win Super Bowl 60. That kind of kept up with our theme this weekend of the Jim McKay thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, which was a central theme of our Olympic Super Bowl weekend. Well, you had the thrill of victory. Breezy Johnson winning the gold in the downhill, her first medal ever. The agony defeat, Lindsey Vaughn and her playing hurt, looking for a comeback, only to have a wipeout and a broken leg. Then you had the thrill of victory, the Seattle Seahawks. Even John Williams staggered a little bit on that one. Three turnovers. Including a pick six, six sacks. You could have given the MVP to the Seattle defense, which was one of the more, well, probably since 1985. And that happened to the Patriots too, didn't it? The Bears. Dominant defensive performances. You know it's bad when you have, what was it, 15 punts? Jason Myers with five field goals, I believe. Going to the Hall of Fame, no. Michael, I would go back to last year when Philly beat Kansas City. They annihilated them in the exact same manner. Yeah, there was no real Rahid Shahid surprise, you know, somebody that we weren't expecting. I thought it seemed like when they did need a big play, they were looking Cooper Cups away. But the person who dominated is the person who dominated the month of January. Kenneth Walker the 3rd. This will be interesting for Seattle. They lost Chardonnay. Kenneth Walker the third kind of dedicated the postseason to Chardonnay. And boy, did he come through another 135 yards yesterday. It could have been 135 and a touchdown at the end, but it got called back with the holding. And many people thought, and I think it was Toriko that speculated. That could have maybe have cost him the MVP. It was probably a tough call. You kept waiting for Arnold to... Darnel to kind of choke in the postseason, that never happened. You could have given it to him, but Kenneth walked in the third 135 yards. The ability to run the football was a huge difference in the dominance of the defense. They call it, what is it, Monday morning flu or a Super Bowl flu or whatever people want to call it. That'll be a tough one for anyone to pull off at work today. There just wasn't anything to be hung over about. I found.

I found halftime sad. I'm sorry. I don't think I don't think Red shares my views. We had a all-Hispanic halftime show that the NFL provided. You know, why bother to touch some of these issues that we all knew were coming? You know, it's not like it was a surprise. We woke up what did they do last night. I mean, 78% of America speaks English. And you had a 100% non-English halftime show. I don't know how that makes sense to anyone. America is going through a political time in the backdrop. It seems as though the NFL is making a statement in that direction. You have 0.5% of players in the NFL that are Hispanic. You just can't really make sense of it. Was it good? I think everybody found it odd. We had Signorita Gaga. I guess we wouldn't call her Lady Gaga, right? Signita Gaga made an appearance. But that woman can sing. Oh, I know. She's very talented. My goodness. Meanwhile, Turning Point USA, I don't know if it's a turning point for America as much as a spotlight on how divided we are as a nation. They said at the peak had 5 million people. Andrew and I were going back and forth just to kind of get a sense. And it was really quite the glimpse of the Matrix. One was all Hispanic. One was all Caucasian. One was in English. The other was all in Spanish. It was just a tale of two Americas last night. And there's something really sad about it. The game in the end was weak. It was one-sided. The two sides of a halftime, I didn't, you know. And in the commercials, I mean, but the Eagle one with Budweiser that everybody expected was sensational. I loved it. You didn't? I thought the Goodwill Hunting, Dunkin' Donuts, which I don't want to bash any. Well, you know, because sometimes the most memorable commercials, nobody remembers what the commercial was for. You'll remember that was Dunkin' Donuts. Yeah. The problem is somebody brought Dunkin' Donuts to the nursing home. And I can't, when I was a kid, Dunkin' Donuts was good. Yeah. Now I don't even think there are twice daily standards. But good commercial. It's a weak donut, but a good commercial. I don't know. I just thought, you know, gee, the commercials were weak. The game was weak. The halftime show was sad. I don't know what people are waking up. America did take gold in the team figure skating, which was huge. As Johnny Weir said, it came down to a kitten's whisker. Is this what he said really? This is going to come down to a kitten's whisker. I've never heard that before. It's just like that. I love him now. And it did, and they won it. So we are now in second place in total golds after the opening weekend. of the Olympics. On the Guthrie front, really kind of sad when they start going through the septic tank. We don't have a lot of information. There was a sense all weekend long that the latest Guthrie family plea, this one again from Savannah, saying they were willing to pay for their mother, was talking more to the kidnappers about celebrating her remains, if you will, more than her live return. It has now been over a week.

So I think America has a sense that Nancy Guthrie is probably not alive. It would be a wonderful miracle if she is. The new family plea was a big update that didn't have a lot of clarity. And then the searching of the septic tank was a big visual without a lot of clarity. There is clarity in this. You have Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, both leaving their Iranian talks and visiting the USS Abraham Lincoln. And the sailors and the pilots there. That sure looks like a mission is coming. There's also the announcement of an emergency meeting on Wednesday with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and the president of the United States, Donald Trump. These all look like airstrikes are coming or maybe even something more. We don't know. We'll have Colonel Stephen Bucci tomorrow. But that's a pretty clear picture. So the thrill of victory. Breezy Johnson, the agony of defeat, Lindsay Vaughn, the two Americas, the Super Bowl halftime show, and then the Turning Point USA halftime show really just kind of paints the picture of a weekend in the divided states of America, doesn't it? And I guess if you're coming up in the sound of the day, John Fetterman will have more on what looks like another likely government shutdown. On the horizon, a very divided country. Yes, yes, Jeff. You know which red? You know which one I watched? Well, I think you watched Turning Point, didn't you? Or neither? I watched a puppy bowl. You did puppy bowl? Who won? I did puppy bowl. I have never done a puppy bowl. How does it work? I'm serious. I'm not being a organized chaos. This is not a cartoon. These are real dogs, right? Real dogs. Real dogs up for adoption. Real dogs up for adoption. And do they play football? Yeah. Well, they run with bones and run all over the place. And it's pretty scared. Why can't America unite behind that? I'd like that. I thought it was fun. Was it? Actually, I kept watching it because I couldn't take the game anymore. Red is from the New England area. Well, Red is from everywhere. Like, you claim Connecticut, you claim Massachusetts. You claim New Hampshire, right? Maine. Maine, Connecticut. And so do all of them pretty much, they're Patriot fans, right? Except for Southern Connecticut, Giants fans. So, you know, I thought about, you know, how to use talkbacks today. And my thought is it was a very, very one-sided game. I don't think people are going to remember it very fondly. We all talk about great defenses. I thought both defenses, I mean, when you think of until it got away from them and they lived on the field, I thought first half, both defenses played great. I mean, keep in mind. They, oh for three in the red zone for Seattle in the first half. So the Patriots got a great defense. They normally shut down the run very, very well. And if you're going to beat them, you're going to beat them deep, which is why some people thought this was going to be a one-sided game. That simply didn't happen. In fact, as I highlighted, the Super Bowl MVP.

Who I predicted was going to have the big game. Kenneth Walker the 3rd. It's been that way all January, 135 yards. But other than that, I would say it was very one-sided, very low scoring, very defensive dominated. That isn't usually the kind of thing that leads to a memorable Super Bowl. For the AFC, there's questions like, you know, when we talk about the Seahawks, minus injuries. San Francisco could play with them. The Rams could play with them. Clearly, there's nobody in the AFC that could. And I don't think Buffalo would have fared any better, and you know I love the bills. I don't think Denver would have fared much better, but I think a little better if they'd have had their quarterback. So, you know, this is, this brings up questions of is the NFC way ahead of the AFC right now? Seahawks, Super Bowl champions 2913, and kind of a dud of a game. I was going to lead the talkbacks up to commercials. I mean, one of the things we could do to give all of us here at the kitchen table of flavor, I would go with Dunkin' Donuts or Budweiser, but by and large, I saw people trying too hard. None really. What is the Post Malone, Peyton Manning, and what is the comedian's name for Bud Light? That was Bud Light, yeah. They are some of the best comebacks for that company. I mean, you've got three heavy. So Budweiser with the Eagle and the Clydesdale, Bud Light with Peyton Manning, Duncan Donuts. I mean, I don't, but you guys can help us out. Yeah, Sharbonneau got hurt, so they had to turn everything over. to Kenneth Walker, the third, who ends up being the MVP with 135 yards. So Red and I are having a discussion off the air. Gee, maybe they discovered something. I mean, he clearly had an amazing postseason. Do they have an issue? I mean, is this a guy that wants the whole team on his back? Well, the answer is he can't block and he can't catch coming out of the backfield where Charbonneau can and then Charbonneau at the goal line is very effective as well. But he wouldn't, Darnold wouldn't be alive if Walker the third was the everyday running back and we put the whole load on him. But he certainly picked up the load after the injury. I mentioned I thought he was going to be a key player. He was just tearing up the postseason, and he did last night, 135 yards. He gets the MVP. Seahawks get the Super Bowl, 2913 over the Patriots. We look for an unsung hero every Super Bowl. Here's one for you, the Seahawk punter, because this was a field possession game, especially in the first half, and the Patriots defense was keeping him out of the end zone. They were staying in the game. I mean, one touchdown was a two-point game. And this guy kept... Getting them inside the three-yard line. Inside the three-yard line with punts. Super Bowl 60 was very one-sided, very defensive until late, but it was very one-sided. Seahawks, 2913 over the New England Patriots. That's two very dominant Super Bowls in a row for the NFC. Over 21 million viewers tuned in to watch the... Milan Winter Olympic opening ceremony, which by the way, A, I got, and B, I thought was gorgeous. Normally, opening ceremonies are just weird to me. Yeah. But everything was, you got to hand it. The set design, the stadium, everything, first class in Italy. And we talked about the tale of the old Jim McKay line, the thrill of victory. And we certainly had that with Breezy Johnson winning gold and with the...

A figure skating. It may have been, it may have come down to a kitten's whisker, but it was a gold medal for the U.S. So we're one behind Norway and the total gold medal count. I think Italy leads in overall medals, don't they? I should probably look that up before I went on the air. The agony of defeat, of course, was Lindsay Vaughn and massive wipeout, broken leg to go along with her. ACL injury and that ends her bid for a comeback in this Winter Olympic game. A couple of updates on the Guthrie front. One, a new family plea video. This time Savannah Guthrie again. There was a sense, I think, for most people that they were paying now for her remains more than her life and then searching of a septic tank. behind Nancy Guthrie's home. Good morning. Hello, hello. Right into loser therapy this morning, huh? Well, don't you just feel bad for the little Patriot quarterback in his sweet baby face? I'm like, oh. Yeah. Picking on him. How would you like to be 23 years old, the world watching you in a Super Bowl, and you got to play that defense? You know, the Seahawks, I think, I don't know if they rarely, if ever even blitzed. They did that with just their front four and they were in his face the entire game. I just wanted to run out there and hug you. I'll bet you did, my get a hold of yourself this morning. But okay, the good news is, you know, failing isn't always bad. Sometimes we can turn it into something fun and entertaining, right? Like the Museum of Failure. Did you know there is such a thing? And there's one that pops up in different cities. Oh, I was just going to say, what city would bid to be the home? of the museum of failure. Well, actually, one that's kind of brick and mortar hanging loose is at the Mall of America in Minnesota, but the one that travels most recently was in Vancouver, but is heading to San Francisco. So you walk in and you see things like Colgate's beef lasagna. Yeah, it was a failure. Harley Davidson. Wait, whoa, whoa, it's time out. Colgate, the one that makes toothpaste? Yes, yes, that's what I'm saying. They were making TV dinner. Yes. Mm-hmm. Cheetos's lip balm did not take off. See what I'm saying?

So don't give up. I mean, and then there's like an interactive wall where you're supposed to bring in your own personal failures and stick them on the wall. So of course, there's a wedding dress or two, all right? There's a spilled bucket of paint, knives that don't work. One lady just has pictures of like a cat and a tarantula and she feels terrible because she was not able to keep either of them alive. All right. I think the cat probably won that one. So I remember my first trip, we went to Pittsburgh. We used to go, I take my son every year to see the Cubs. It was something I stole from a doctor friend of mine, but from the time he was five years old, we took a plane trip together and went and saw Cubs game. And Wrigley Field started getting really crazy. So we started picking away games, which was really fun. I'm so glad it just naturally happened because we got to enjoy America. I mean, we had a ball in Cincinnati. We had a ball in New York at Yankee Stadium. We went to a lot of great places. But I remember going to Pittsburgh, and I was a huge Roberto Clementi fan as a kid. So it meant everything for me to be on Clemente Bridge. And I noticed this tradition they have, like if, you know, when you meet your husband or whatever, you know, you put your initials on a lock and then you would lock it to the bridge. And so as you're walking this bridge, there's tens of thousands of locks with names on it. And I remember this one guy with like a bolt cutter was cutting his lockout. I presume that's what you do after divorce. After everything else you have, you got to run over the Clemente Bridge and take your lockdown. But when I think of the greatest failures of all time, it would probably be the redesign of the Coke can, right? Right. The new Coke was one, definitely. New Coke, yeah. New Coke, uh-huh. Yeah, that was a big failure. I mean, think about Blockbuster. Poor Blockbuster. Remember? Well, that's just technology moved on. That really wasn't their failure. I mean, they rained when they could. Right, right. That's true. I'm surprised that we still see those. What are the little, oh, Red Box? Is that what they're called? I still see those. Who's still doing that? I think they turned into dumpsters or something. I saw one, but maybe a year or so ago and I was like, who is still doing that? Right. Oh, that's where it all began. How about you, though? Do you have a personal little failure that you want to admit to everybody? Something that's kind of... No, you know, I think... No, I... Well, no, only because... Oh, I have tons of failures, but I don't view them that way because of my faith. So my faith informs me that it's really God's will, not mine, that is the goal. Do I miss that daily? frankly, the biggest mistakes of my life. I thought for the longest time, I'll give you an example of why I say this. I had a chance and I had the job and I'll never forget when I turned it down, the general manager was screaming at me, got really hubris. He was like, you're turning down. WLS, ABC, Chicago to stay in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Are you out of your mind? I said, well, maybe, but yes, I am.

And I was driving around, and it took me like an hour and a half on the Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. You know, childhood memories come back to you real quickly to get to Arlington Heights where I was looking at a house. And I thought, why am I coming here to rot in traffic and freeze and pay this much for a house and for what? So other people will read on a paper one day, oh, he's the new this at WLS, and think highly at me? No. So I said no. Had I taken that job, I would have never married my wife. And if I never married my wife, I would never have my three children. How do you look back at that? Now, from a career standpoint, was that a stupid move? Of course. It was a big mistake. But I have found you learn more in life from your failures than your success. My three greatest failures led to my three greatest changes in my life that are everything that is successful about me. So how do you regret that? That's sweet. That's totally true. And this museum is really built around the idea of failure is essential for progress people. Two steps back. That's a beautiful way to say. Why didn't I just say it that way? Well, that's why it's Monica Nelson's mildly important, not so breaking, broken news update. The Museum of Failure coming to a city near you. I can't wait. What did you, did you, you go earlier than us, don't you? What time do you get to work? Oh, very early. I'm at work by four and I have about an hour drive. So you, so yeah, you're up at like 2.2.30, right? I mean, you do at least wash your face, don't you, before work? Barely, barely. Barely. Beauty of radio. Well, face for radio. That's why we don't do a camera here on the morning show. Okay, so you get there very early. So you didn't stay up for the whole game. Did you get a chance to see both halftimes? I did. I did. I saw all the commercials. I was like so confused by the commercials, actually. Do you realize they were like singing wads of hair? Do you remember that commercial? I think it was promoting some sort of razor. So like wads of hair on the bottom of the shower with little eyes singing at you. Then there's like singing toilets. Listen, I don't get enough sleep to even comprehend this kind of stuff. I did see the singing toilets. And I thought for sure it was Kohler or some kind of toilet seat company, but it had nothing to do with toilet seats. That was liquid IV, I think. Yeah, I went with the Eagle and the Clydesdales. And I did think the Dunkin' Donuts take off. I mean, when all of a sudden you have Jennifer Aniston outside, what do you, instead of, what do you? What do you think of these apples or whatever? He did. Oh my gosh, that was created. I thought that was good. So that favorite current, it was kind of sad to see two different halftime shows. And I don't know that I really cared for either. Did you flip to the other one? I mean, yeah, we did. We did. We did. Yes, you got one all in Spanish, one all in English, one that was all ethnic, one that was all white, one that was, damn it, we love America. The other one was just whatever the heck. It's just, we are such a matrix. It's just really, yeah. Too much. It's nice to hear you say that, Monica. I thought it was anyone that still you. That's a very old, in the end, like I'll never forget. My mom's sitting here. This guy brought his girlfriend to dinner. My mom's giving her filthy looks all night.

And I go, mom, why are you looking at her that way? She's too much. Too much. That's it. That's all you had to say. Too much. All of them was too much. All right. Senate. John Fetterman, Senator John Fetterman again, looking like the only reasonable Democrat, says he expects another partial government shutdown as the Friday deadline to fund Homeland Security looms. Mark Mayfield has our top story. The Pennsylvania Democrat made the comment on Fox's Sunday morning futures that DHS is operating off a two-week stopgap funding bill as lawmakers negotiate reforms to immigration enforcement operations. Democrats want to tighten requirements and ban federations from wearing masks, while Republicans are pushing to target so-called sanctuary cities across the U.S. I'm Mark Mayfield. All right, we talked about the talks this weekend in Iran. I don't know that they went very well. Number one, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff both visit the USS Abraham Lincoln where the sailors and pilots are awaiting air strikes. And then we have the emergency meeting on Wednesday with Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump. That looks like something of military action is on the horizon. Meanwhile, we still don't have peace between Russia and Ukraine. And the Ukrainian president says the U.S. wants a peace deal and they want it by summer. Solensky's comment comes in a statement issued Saturday by his office. He says Washington has proposed that delegations from both countries meet in the U.S. sometime next week and that Ukraine will take part. Volodymyr Zelensky's remarks followed another large scale Russian attack overnight on Ukraine's power grid by hundreds of drones and missiles. I'm Scott Carr. Well, more than 21 million people tuned in to watch coverage of the Milan Winter Olympics opening ceremony on NBC and Peacock, Tammy Trejillo. Has the details? That's a 34% jump from the 2022 opening of the Beijing Winter Games, according to Nielsen. The show saw fireworks and colorful performances from many superstars, including Mariah Carey and Andrea Poccelli. NBC Universal has the media rights for the U.S. broadcast of the Olympics through 2036. I'm Tammy Trujillo. Super Bowl 60 featured plenty of pricey all-star commercials. For the most part, as Monica Nelson said, too much. Or as I said, Just trying too hard. But there were some classics. And one of the most anticipated spots, the original cast of Jurassic Park reunited for a Comcast Xfinity video service commercial. I think we're back in business. Guys, that could have been bad. Sabrina Carpenter was featured in a rom-com style commercial for Pringle's potato chips, where her beau was literally made of potato chips. Andy Sandberg was the Neil Diamond impersonator for the Hellman's mayonnaise commercial. Touching cheese. Touching you sweet.

I give the nod for comedy anyway. Best comedy. I'll do it like the Golden Globes do. I will separate comedy and drama. Drama definitely goes to Budweiser and the Clydesdale with the eagle. But for comedy, best comedy, Ben Afflex, Duncan Donuts, Super Bowl commercial, which reimagines Goodwill hunting into a 90s sitcom with an all-star cast. Look, the game, very one-sided. I think the split halftime of America was very sad. The commercials probably mostly overrated. Let's not forget, I'm your boss. You work for me. We're not in the office anymore, Bradley. Send help. Listen, anytime you're stranded on an island with Rachel McAdams, and all you have is an ice cold Coca-Cola and a bag of popcorn with a side of chocolate raisinettes. That's a good place to be. And apparently a lot of Americans agreed sending help was the weekend box office winner. Only made about $10 million, but good enough for the win. And there is a 24-hour flu going around, and about 26 million people are expected to call in with it today. Bring tennis as more. It's called the Super Bowl flu. It's not contagious and its symptoms resemble a hangover. And it's responsible for a loss of over $5 billion in productivity, you know, due to illness. And it happens every year despite multiple petitions to the NFL to move the Super Bowl from Sunday to Saturday or push the game to President's Day weekend when most already have the Monday off. But year after year, the Players Association keeps saying no. I'm Bree Tennis. Super Bowl 60 goes to the Seahawks. It was a very dominant defensive performance. For the first half, both defenses for the whole game, the Seahawks difference. Three turnovers, including one pick, six, six, six sacks, five Jason Meyer field goals. And Kenneth Walker, the third with 135 yards rushing gets the MVP. Seahawks are your Super Bowl champions. In the Olympic Games, we talked about the... Thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It was a bittersweet Sunday. Team USA collected its first medal of the Winter Games after Breezy Johnson won gold in the women's downhill skiing. But it was veteran Lindsey Vaughn who made the headlines. Vaughn who was dealing with a torn ACL, suffered a hard crash during her run. She was airlifted from the slope to have surgery to repair a broken leg. Elsewhere, the U.S. team took gold and figure skating. U.S. is now second in total gold with two behind Norway, who has three entering the Olympic Games. All right, birthdays today. Let's go with Carol King, one of the great songwriters of all time, 84 years old today. Jazz man was my favorite, Carol King, just in case anybody was wondering. Joe Pesci, 83 years, what, you think I'm funny? I make you laugh. Joe Pashie 83, great Tulsa. Supermodel and actress Amber Valletta. I too found the Budweiser free bird commercial to be the best in show. Unfortunately, it was the third time I saw it. I did not see it till the game, believe it or not. And I loved it.
