I don't have to tell you. That's exactly what we expected. I don't have to tell you that's exactly what the president didn't want. He's really going to hate this news too because Jerome Powell says he's going to stick around a little longer on the board. This guy's like, remember Saturday Night Live? The thing that wouldn't leave? Do you mind if I make a couple long distance phone calls? The thing that wouldn't leave, Jerome Powell. Meanwhile, President Trump is rejecting an Iranian proposal to lift the blockade over the straight as he's about to get briefed by commanders today on his military options. He may be back to that. The president said the former FBI director James Comey used a term to kill him that gangsters use. Now, I would just like to clarify that there is no such thing as the Italian mafia. gangster. I would just presume that he means modern gangsters, like gangster rap. Like the sopranos? The preannos always said we're going to whack him. We whacked. Wait, I didn't say that. No. There was no such thing. In the Hollywood created fictitious mafia. That's what I was talking about. Wack was the term. Yes. But, you know, who doesn't know what 86 means? It's just that whole line. of deflection makes no sense to me. I mean, the amount of people in the restaurant business alone that know what 86 means, which is to kill an order. So, you know, he is a former FBI director. Even if he came upon the shells shaped 86-47, there's no question an FBI director would have known what that meant. He knew what he was influencing, which brings up the whole question of the left. The Atlantic did a piece. And they're basically, and again, timing is everything, right? There was a potential attempt on the president's life that would be a third in a year and a half, two years. And within days of it, the leftist Atlantic is doubling down. With a headline, calling Trump a tyrant is not a call to violence. With a subtitle, conservatives want to police how we talk about Trump. Well, of course, excusing how the president talks about everyone else. This is how the Democrats and the left media have consistently talked about the president. This is not normal. This is not accurate. And this is dangerous. And in our polls of plenty today, if you have 88%, which is just shy of 9 out of 10, they realize gerrymandering is a serious problem. 66% two out of three think it's a very serious problem. That's a little ode to what we used to always say. Never underestimate the intelligence of the American people. We elect people and we leave them too long and they do a lot of stupid things they get away with, but it doesn't go unnoticed. Gerrymandering isn't going unnoticed and this tone in America isn't going unnoticed.

How the Atlantic, with a straight face, hours after an assassination attempt, can do a piece called calling Trump a tyrant is not a call to violence, to double down, distance themselves from this kind of rhetoric. And these voices are all presidents, vice presidents, and media leaders. Listen, tell me if we've got a tone problem. Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic. Are they a threat to democracy? Yes. Are they going to take our rights away? Yes. Are they going to put people's lives in danger? Yes. Are they going to endanger the planet by not dealing with climate change? Yes, they're going to do all that? Needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there's unrest in our lives. And unfortunately, there's a play to go around. I just don't even know why there aren't uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be. It's a danger. He's a genuine danger to American security. What was outrageous three days ago is no longer on the front pages, even though it threatens the physical. safety of so many people, particularly as you point out, immigrants that he and JD Vance have decided to demonize. By the way, demonize. You mean execute the law as it is written. Secure a border that is a sovereign nation is intended to be secure. And those who break the laws, laws are there to be upheld. I mean, if anything is being done unprecedented, it was ignoring that. It would be unprecedented for Americans across the country to all leave their doors open and all but put a sign out front. Help yourself to whatever you want. But this is the kind of rhetoric. They want to normalize and justify. I don't understand why it's so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is. President Biden has been clear-eyed about the threat that the former president represents to our democracy. You disagree with them. You're a threat. What do we do with threats? We stop them. What do we do with tyrants, dictators, assassinate them? Trump is an existential threat to our democracy. Do you think Donald Trump is a fascist? Yes, I do. This is what kicking the shit out of fascism looks like. Comparing the tactics of Donald Trump to Mussolini and Hitler is a very legitimate thing. We have a Timu Hitler in the White House right now. I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. They're still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump, and that's a fact. The thing we were all warning about for the last few years is that coming. It is here. We do now live in a country that has an authoritarian leader in charge. So when people throw around authoritarian, fascist, tyrant, what are they implying? But by definition, a tyrant is a person. who has absolute power. We still live in a constitutional representative republic. Remember, he was a dictator and a tyrant when he wasn't going to leave office, even though we all know what happened in 2020. If you want to call it cheating fair and square, cheating unconstitutionally, we all know what happened.

They weaponized COVID. They told you in Time magazine. They admitted it. They had convinced themselves. Democracy was at stake. We had to do what we had to do. So we changed election laws without going through state legislatures. We harvested votes in swing cities, swing precincts of swing states, and we stole the election. They tell you that. And had they not succeeded and had they lost, they were going to do an insurrection. Which was why they played the insurrection card against Trump. They knew it well. Trump was just dumb enough to walk into it. But the president refused to leave. He left peacefully. And he waited four years and he ran and won again with a majority of the popular vote. And of course, a landslide in the Electoral College. And he has felt the checks and balances of the Supreme Court and Congress and votes. And as David Sinati pounds into our head with a supermajority, you really don't even have a Senate. But a tyrant is a person who has absolute power. Donald Trump doesn't. And nobody corrects these people. That's only the first half. The second half is to have absolute power and use it in a cruel or oppressive way. Upholding immigration laws is not cruel and oppressive. It's law and order. Historically, the word comes from ancient Greece, where it originally just meant a ruler who gained power without legal right. Never mind Donald Trump, won an election. lost an election, waited four years, and won an election again. He didn't gain his power without legal right. Over time, it's meaning changed to something more negative. That's the other thing. Not that that's a positive. But you say Tyrant, now you think Hitler. Now the Democrats come around and say Hitler. We have a modern day Hitler. He's a Stalin.

obviously it's inaccurate, obviously it's inciting. Obviously, you're creating a threat that must be eliminated. Sooner or later, someone's going to act on it. Now, some of those uprising calls, that's like calling for a civil war. And take them at their word, because they did it a lot. See, George Floyd. See what would have happened if they didn't successfully steal the election in 2020. But I'm thinking like this Rasmussen poll on gerrymandering, I hope the American people get it, had to act accordingly. But this kind of rhetoric has to stop. Now, how we got here, we've done this in the past. Barack Obama started calling us a democracy. We're not. We're a constitutional representative republic, a republic by design. Our founding fathers were never interested in democracy. That's mob rule. It always ends in an anarchy or dictatorship. But the Democrats want to call it democracy, and then they turned around and made democracy the Democrat Party platform and its candidates. So now if you oppose their views, their platform, their policies, you're a threat to democracy because they've made the Democrat Party democracy, even though Democrat parties become socialist, Islamist, and a free-for-all in its own civil war. You got to follow all these balls. The only thing my hope and prayer is, well, one, that we're all praying. Second Chronicle 714, that's where God's going to start, and then he steps in. But this hope that the American people can make sense of what the, well, I think they can. That's why the media is dead, and no one's watching. We haven't gotten around to is when somebody talks like this, their career is over. And then they'll stop talking like that. We're going to talk more about it with our senior contributor, David Sinati, but the notion, hours after a third assassination attempt, a leading publication. And again, the Atlantic is not like a typical leftist rag. This is who the leftist rags take their cues from. This is what the radical professors and university administrations read and take their cues from. And the cue is doubled down. Nothing wrong but calling somebody a tyrant. If you're just waking up, the Supreme Court ruling striking down parts of the Voting Rights Act could lead to widespread voting implications before the midterms. Mark Mayfield has our top story. The Supreme Court has struck down a Louisiana congressional map. The map included a second majority black congressional district. The case was centered around how much race can be considered when lawmakers redraw districts. Black voters had sued the state in 2022 after the state legislature created a new congressional map after the 2020 census that included just one black majority district. Black residents make up about a third of Louisiana's population. I'm Mark Nefield. Well, last meeting with Jerome Powell as the chair of the Fed. And what they do? Held rates unchanged. The next time we played, he didn't talk to me. And it said, you'd have thought it was like Sunday at Augusta. And he just pounded me like by 15 strokes. But I'm down into single-digit handicap now. And I'm playing very consistently. That's nice. Very confidently. Yeah. But. Even if I do win, you'll never know. Because I don't ever want to see that other guy again. But yes, we are so grateful for David filling in for three days. And it is wonderful to be back. I missed you guys. All right, I want to have a quick conversation. This was the astronauts. We've done this before, but back in 1968, the last time we just circled the moon. The astronauts read from Genesis, the story of creation. That's how much being next to the moon and looking back at Earth or seeing nothing but black and white in space forever and one ball of life in color. That's how it impacted them. And it's funny. Everybody leaves this Earth in search of something else and discovers the Earth they left. I hope you don't ever miss that. There really is no place like home. Now, at the time they did it in 68, they knew our men were dying in Vietnam. They knew the Cold War was at its height. You're in such a beautiful, pristine, purposed place like no other. Why are you fighting?

Who's having a hard time with good over evil? You should see yourself from this vantage point. It was beautiful in 68. Now in 68, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was assassinated, MLK Jr. was assassinated. It was a bad time. Riots, wars, rumors of worse wars. Fighting this time. Russia, Ukraine. tensions with Pakistan, India, us finally doing something about Iran and its threat. But probably for these four astronauts to look down and know in our country the way we are ridiculously dividing amongst ourselves and hating each other. Well, it's his birthday today, so I'll start with Victor. This is not only a naval commander and astronaut for the ages. I don't know how many astronauts you know anything about, but you ought to know Frank Borman inside and out. That was an extraordinary man. And this one, you better not miss. Victor Glover. In 68, a woman in Houston, and back then we would do a... A wire. That's how we communicated. We didn't have the internet. It wasn't a post lost in a sea of posts. You went down and did a telegram. And she simply wrote to the astronauts, thank you. You saved 1968. I always knew about that telegram. I always had the historical context. I just, I was three years old. I didn't really live it.

I've been living this. And I can honestly look you in the eye, even though it was early in the year, and say these four saved 2026. Four extraordinary astronauts at a perfect time and a first leg of a long mission that will make a home on the moon and eventually a resting stop on its way to Mars. And who knows where after that. And I suspect in search of resources legitimately, more than life, or the ability to live, because every time somebody gets further and further away, and nobody got further away than these four, the only revelation is where they came from. Well, the president honored them yesterday in the Oval Office. Here's what the president had to say. Not just our country, the whole world. And they're very brave. And that was a lot of rocket under them. I never saw anything like that. We were talking about it. I don't know how they do it. I wouldn't want to do it. But it takes people like this to make our country great. And again, I've never seen anything. Everybody I knew, they wanted to see the launch. And they especially wanted to see a successful landing. And Jared, I want to congratulate you when you've done at NASA. I made a great choice.

And if you have any questions for any of us, feel free to ask. But we're very proud of these people. They have unbelievable courage. Unbelievable. A lot of other things, too, by the way. To get in there, you have to be very smart. You have to do a lot of things physically good. So I would have had no trouble making it physically very, very good. Maybe a little bit of a problem. I don't know. We'll have to try it sometime. Is a president allowed to go up in one of these missions? We can get working on that. We have no problem. You think Secret Service would clear him? That, I mean, you said we got Friday with 47 tomorrow. I think we had Friday with 47 yesterday with the astronauts. I think if you're not in awe, I don't know how to get you in awe. But it was, it was refreshing. It was a very uniting. force at a very divided time. I think what the president is struggling for the words to say is, you saved 2026. All four honored in the White House with the director of NASA. I thought that was the best moment yesterday. John Decker was in the Oval Office for that meeting with the Artemis 2 astronauts. He'll have more coming up next hour. The Fed announced its interest rate decision under, it's the last one for Jerome Powell. Although Jerome Powell is refusing to leave. He's going to stick around on the board. I suspect just to aggravate the president. I love the way he said, oh, I'm going to stick around for a time to be determined. How much you want to bet, Jerome Powell stepped down from the board after the president swears in the next president of the United States. A lot of spite going on, not just between James Comey and Trump, but also. Jerome Powell and the president. But they did keep the rate steady. We expected that. We knew the president wouldn't be happy with that. Rory has a report on that coming up in about 20 minutes. I guess time flies when you're having fun. These are your top five stories today. President Trump says he spoke with the Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday. Mark Mayfield has the details. Trump told reporters Vladimir Putin offered assistance during the phone call to help end the Iran war, specifically helping the U.S. retrieve Iran's enriched uranium. I said I'd much rather have you be involved with ending the war with Ukraine. To me, that would be more important. Enriched uranium is what's used to make nuclear weapons. The president went on to say Vladimir Putin could soon announce what Trump called a little ceasefire regarding the war with Ukraine. I'm Mark Nefield. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, says $400 million in aid to Ukraine. Has been released? It comes after accusations the funding was stalled. Pete Hegseth tells a House Armed Services Committee budget hearing the funding was released earlier this week. The aid was allocated as part of the National Defense Authorization Act passed last year. Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has said the funding was delayed and has criticized Pentagon officials. Meantime President Trump says he spoke to a Russian president Vladimir Putin and he says the Russian leader could soon announce what Trump calls a little ceasefire. I'm Jim Rup. President Trump says former FBI director James Comey used a term to kill him that gangsters use. Trump told reporters 86 is used by mob bosses. Actually, we use whack, but that's another story. When they order an associate to kill someone. You ever see the movies, 86 him. The mobster says to one of his wonderful associates, 86 him. That means kill him.

86 him, leave the gun, grab the canoli. Something like that. James Comey posted a photo last year of seashells on a beach arranged to form the numbers 8647. Everybody knows 86 means if you 86 an order in a restaurant, you kill the order. 8647 is killed President Trump, an FBI former director, and he posts it for everyone to see. He surrendered yesterday after He was charged federally for threatening President Trump's life. Trump had other criticism for James Comey. You know, James Comey is a dirty cop. He's a very dirty cop. He cheated on the elections. He tried to help Hillary Clinton. New York City will have a lot to offer this 4th of July as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday. 50 tall ships up to 370 feet long will sail under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, salute the Statue of Liberty, and travel up the Hudson River. The ships representing 20 nations in a colossal celebration called the International Parade of Sail, while the U.S. Navy's Blue Angel Squadron flies overhead. The day will begin with the first ever July 4th ball drop in Times Square. Festivities will wrap up as always with the annual Macy's July 4th Firework Show. I'm Sarah Lee Kessler. You never even call me by my name. Outlaw country singer David Allen Coe has passed away. Coe became famous in the 70s for Outlaw country songs like long-haired redneck. His wife confirmed a Rolling Stone. David Allen Co. died on Wednesday at the age of 86. No cause of death was given. Now, I wasn't, you know, an out of touch kid, but... It's kind of an old soul. I mean, I remember being a teenager, and I listened to Sinatra. I listened to The Carpenter. You know I loved Bowie. Absolutely. In addition to, I loved Led Zeppelin. I loved Ello. I loved Boston. Kansas was probably my famous band growing up. We merged two schools. Sam Barth Academy and Keough Academy both closed and combined with Ecole Class Inc as a private school. So the Sam Barthers were all huge David Allen co-fans. I had never heard of them. The San Barthers are the kind of guys that were like, you know, we got so drunk Friday night after the co-conser. Right. Yeah. If I did go to a show, me and Keith Andrews went and saw Neil Diamond. I mean, we were different. But I can tell you that generation really loved. David Allen Coe, this is a big, big death. He used to drive around in a station wagon in Nashville with legend painted on the side of it. Yeah, he lives, well, lived here. Yeah. And then Whalen asked him one time, what makes you a legend? And he said, Waylon, it's printed on my car. That was the kind of guy David Allen Coe was. The record recording academy is set to honor Rod Stewart.
