We've got tons coming up on the program, not the least of which is a former CIA operative, now works for Center for Security Policy to break down some of the puzzle pieces regarding what a lot of people are calling the Fedurrection of January 6th. Jay Michael Christopher Waller, who's also the author of the book Big Intel, is going to join me on the program. He's also got a new report out on how far behind we are. with regard to AI. China does not care about constraints. So if we've got some time, we'll tap into that as well. Moran Johnson's going to join me on the program. We'll talk a lot about Obamacare. We'll talk a lot about how the government is the reason why healthcare is three times more expensive than it was 20 years ago. Three times more expensive than it was 20 years ago. That's crazy. Maybe if we've got some time with Ron Johnson, we'll talk about housing as well. Some alarming rhetoric coming out of the White House regarding housing. We'll have Mark Morano is going to check in from COP 30. They mowed down 100,000 trees, so a bunch of green freaks and climate change NGO representatives could attend the climate change conference in Brazil. But we'll get some feedback from Mark on that. Lots more coming up on the program.

So when you go, IHeart Radio app, it'll pop up a general page, find our radio station. That's where the contest link is. You can enter the keyword there if you would like to play on the app. We recommend people play on the app. We're trying to get people more used to that. I'm going to throw this out there just on housing. And we're going to come back to that later. We'll circle back, as Chen Saki would say. Starting in 2021, January of 2021, FHA loans to non-resident, non-resident aliens, including H-1B visa holders and illegal aliens, skyrocketed. That's one of the problems we've got with housing supply is a huge number of FHA loans were given to people who had no business. getting an FHA loan. It's just one of the gazillion problems with housing affordability. But we're going to come back. I want to talk a bit more about what has been going on with regard and the impact of Trump's decision to have the DOJ finally engage the persecution of the lawyers and the electors from 2020. And we'll also talk about the left strategy of how they never have to appeal. to the middle of America ever again. We'll get to that. It's redistricting. It's packing the Supreme Court. It's making D.C. a state. Stuff like that. We'll be right back. Welcome back to the program. It's the Vicki McKenna Show. Standing by in the Middleton Ford Hotline, Middleton Ford Family Owned and your good neighbor for a dealership for nearly 75 years is Hans von Spakovsky. from the Heritage Foundation. And Hans, I want to, you know, do two things, if we can in the course of this segment. One, of course, is address President Trump's and the DOJ's decision, finally. to engage in the endless lawfare that continues as we speak against the lawyers and the electors from 2020. And the other thing is the Dems, you know, sort of super plan for never having to appeal to the middle, which of course includes rejiggering district maps, blowing up the Supreme Court, etc. So, but let's start with what the DOJ did. Less the pardons more the letter. on the lawyers and the campaign folks and the electors who are continuing to be persecuted to this day because they are being persecuted by state attorneys general. Do you think that what Trump did will provide relief to people like my friend Jim Troopus or other people whipped up and wrapped up in this?

6:51

I can't answer that question. And the reason is, look, Ed Martin, the pardon's attorney at DOJ, wrote a very extensive, detailed 15-page memorandum in which he explained why these state prosecutions are wrong. And he pushes forward to theory that all of the actions of the alternate electors, the lawyers, all of them... These weren't state actions. These were federal actions. You know, what he says is they exercise, when they exercise their responsibilities as electors, those are all functions of federal, not state law. And therefore, the state have no right to be prosecuting them. You know, the problem is that a president... when he issues a pardon can only pardon somebody for federal crimes. You know, he can't pardon somebody for state crimes. But Martin is, like I said, pushing this theory that these state actions are all improper because they all involve federal actions in a federal election. So what's going to happen is all the lawyers representing all of these defendants in all of these cases. are going to make motions to dismiss the prosecutions against them based on these federal pardons and Ed Martin's legal theory whether judges in all of these different states like Wisconsin will accede to that. I can't tell you. If they don't, I have no doubt that those cases, those decisions will then get appealed. and eventually might get appealed all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Okay, so that's sort of the plan. Because in Dane County, where the prosecution is taking place against Jim Troop is, the judge is in the bag. The judge is in the bag. The judge is working for Josh Call's position, essentially, which argues that even though... Everybody says Jim Troopers didn't violate the law with regard to the slate of electors. We're going to prosecute him based on some twisted interpretation of a banking statute. Well, the judge has said, that's fine. That's fine. So the judge is obviously in the bag. Right. So there's not going to be relief in a motion to dismiss. We don't anticipate here in Wisconsin. So the idea is to tee up the appeal, right? The idea is to get, I mean, could the United States Supreme Court? take this quickly? Could there be an action? Could someone somewhere in Georgia or Arizona or New Mexico or Wisconsin? Could someone conceive of a way to boost a case like this before the United States Supreme Court? No, I don't think that'll happen quickly because the only way it gets to Supreme Court is if...

9:57

Let's say the trial court judge in Dane County refuses to dismiss the case. They then appeal to the state court of appeals. They refuse to dismiss it. They then appeal to the state Supreme Court. They then refused to dismiss it. They then, they refuse to dismiss it. It's only once it's gone through the entire state court process. I think, they then have the opportunity to do a direct appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, because the U.S. Supreme Court can overturn what a state Supreme Court says if what that state Supreme Court has done violates federal law and the federal constitution. In fact, there's a case like that right now before the Supreme Court over gun rights in Hawaii where the Hawaii Supreme Court issued an obviously wrong decision. All right, so this is a process of bleeding people dry. That's the entire purpose of the lawfare. And while this provides an eventual out, it doesn't provide immediate relief. No, no, it doesn't. I would hope, though, what might happen is that the Department of Justice, based on these pardons, intervenes in some of these criminal prosecutions and starts helping the defendants actively in the court cases. All right. So another thing that the Department of Justice is, you know, I know that Ed Martin is a fan of this idea, but has not pulled the trigger on yet, is an investigation into the attorneys general coordinating with the left-wing NGOs that were working on behalf of the Biden campaign or the Harris campaign. So law forward, you know, Mary McCord in her ilk can open up, it seems to me, a pretty obvious. investigation into coordination and conspiracy to violate people's civil rights. I think that could be, well, not directly on point to the charges that have been issued, certainly uncomfortable for the actors involved. Yes. The answer to that is yes. State officials are liable under federal law if they act to deny someone their civil rights and engaging in malicious... criminal prosecutions is certainly a denial of people's civil rights. So that is something they can do. So there's also coordination. Is there anything on the coordination? We always hear about Rico, Rico, Rico. Is there anything in that particular statute? Yeah, conspiracy. Yeah. Yeah. No, if you engage in a conspiracy. to violate someone's civil rights. And that was often the case, remember, in the old South, when local officials would engage in conspiracies to deny voting rights to black citizens. No, that's definitely covered within the federal civil rights statutes. So I think there's, you know, there's a lot of moving pieces. And I'm hoping that ultimately is what is what's going to happen because everything else is just a waiting game and a money game. And, you know, these people can't get fundraising. I don't know why. I don't know why the conservatives in Wisconsin, the billionaire class that loves to see their money spent on TV ads that do nothing won't instead underwrite.

13:09

the assistance of these folks who are going to be the ones the best lawyers in the country who would argue those cases, those election cases, those redistricting cases, etc. I know you're running short on time, so I want to get to this. We've got the Democrats, James Carville actually said it out loud, not that we didn't know this, that their plan is redistricting, packing the Supreme Court. making Puerto Rico and DC a state so that the Republicans would never have a chance of winning another election again. So, I mean, you know, that's a, if you are triangulating with those strategies and you can pull it off, that's a, that's pretty devastating. That would be the end of the country, as we know it. A packed Supreme Court, a packed U.S. Senate would mean that you just look at all the actions Democrats have taken in recent years. It would be the end of the Second Amendment. It would be the end of the First Amendment. Government censorship, the kind that occurred during the Biden administration, would become standard. You name it. You name it in the Bill of Rights, and those protections for American freedom and liberty would all be ended. Yeah, and a 13-person Supreme Court. That's what they want. A 13-person Supreme Court to gerrymander Republicans out of existence in the largest electoral states. And Republicans, by the way, we should point out, are not fighting as aggressively as we thought they would with regard to the redistricting efforts because they don't seem to have their... you know, they don't seem to be getting ready for it as the census looms upon us. So I'm not highly confident that we're going to see, you know, the states that can redraw their district lines in order to counter what California and Illinois and other states are doing. Well, I hope that's not the case because we need conservatives. controlling the Congress, particularly when it comes to the issue of the census and redistricting is key to that. Yeah, and we just found out, by the way, that you've got, I know Ken Paxton just announced he's going to be suing a left-wing NGO that was overtly signing up illegal aliens to vote. We have now gotten a number of different states that have been reporting when they check their voter database against the save database, that thousands of non-citizens are showing up having cast ballots, but minimally having registered to vote. And so the whole idea is to never have to appeal. to the lion's share of people who just need this country fixed and just want this country to be functional. That's the idea behind this. And we don't seem to, the conservatives don't seem to be sort of, I don't know, they don't seem to be paying attention to it as acutely as they should. Well, they should be, but the fact that the states finally have gotten access to the DHS databases and are finding all these aliens on the voter rolls. Now you and I know why for years.

16:15

The left has been fighting that tooth and nail to prevent states from getting access to that information. And the Biden administration, you know, was just like that because they don't want people to know that aliens are registering and voting. Yeah, they don't want them to know it. Hans, I know you've got something to do. So thanks so much for jumping on the program today from the Heritage Foundation. Hans von Spakovsky. Thank you. Thanks for having me, and happy Veterans Day to all our veterans. Thanks so much. Thank you, Middleton Ford, as well, for sponsoring our hotline, and we are going to take a break on the Vicki McKenna Show. Don't forget you've got a word to win this hour. $1,000 could be yours. If you paid attention to the top of the hour, keyword, play our contest at our website or on the IHeart Radio app. I will be right back. Welcome back to the program. Everything's a mess. It could get worse. Believe it or not, like, can it get worse? Yes, it can. Hey, but this could be good. Don't forget, you've got a chance to win $1,000 in our nationwide fall fortune cash contest. If you remember the keyword and you are playing our contest, we will let you know next hour if you win. We don't leave messages, by the way. We're going to call you on the phone. So you play online on our website or you play on the Iheart radio app. And if you win, we'll let you know with a phone call, but don't screen your calls. because then you won't win. All right, Jay Michael Christopher Waller is standing by from Center for Security Policy. He's also the author of a book you have heard Senator Ron Johnson reference often on this program, and that is the book, Big Intel. He's got a new report out on China and AI. And, sir, before we get to that, if you don't mind, given your background, can I pick your brain a little bit on the fantastic lack of interest? in any of the revelations that have emerged in the last 18 months regarding January 6th. You were the first person I saw who pointed out that it did look like there were at least some subgroups who were organized and looking to foment riot-type violence. But, you know, there's just been this curious lack of interest whatsoever, including the revelation that it looks like the lead trainer for less lethal use of force for the Capitol Police, now working for the CIA, was the person who probably set the pipe bombs at the DNC and RNC. And yet you'd think this story never existed if you're just paying attention to topline media. It's really crazy because the evidence is all there. And if it was inaccurate, you would at least see people attacking it. You know, sort of the mainstream legacy people would be attacking it. And they're being absolutely silent. And this was revealed on what, Friday? And here and now it's Tuesday. And the FBI hasn't said a word. She works for the CIA. The CIA hasn't said a word. I mean, she supposedly works for the CIA. Yes, the CIA actually did confirm that she works there.

19:18

They told Steve Baker of the Blaze that they confirmed she does work there, but just not in the capacity that he said in the article. Okay. So that's the only. Well, you might have to work at all. Right. Right. So you were with the CIA. Do you not have to pass some kind of polygraph examination, some kind of did you commit crimes? Were you involved in X, Y, or? I mean, isn't that like sort of, you know, CIA interview 101? Oh, the background investigations are very, very strict. And especially if you're in the security side like her, where she supposedly is responsible for the physical security of the CIA headquarters campus, they're going to go way, way, way back into your background, investigate people you knew, go back to your high school records to, you know, people you knew throughout your life. So there's no way you're not going to, you know, there's no way to escape scrutiny on this. So, like, forgive me for being a layperson, you know, but we look at this from our vantage point here, just sitting behind a computer, behind a microphone, and we say, they're in on it. Right, that's what we say. When Kyle Serafin says, I was surveilling the house right next door to hers, I wanted to go and do a knock and talk, and they wouldn't let me, then they pull me off the investigation. When we hear that Christopher Ray can't confirm whether there were, you know, confidential informants or other types of FBI assets in the crowd or how many there were, you know, people like me sit back here and say, well, that's because you were in on it. Why should I think any differently? What is the argument for me to not think that this was a rigged Fedurrection? Oh, absolutely. But all of us have been raised all our lives that you can trust the government. You can really trust the FBI. They're the good guys. They're here to protect all of us. They operate under the law. So when people come out and just look at the facts and say, wait a minute, it looks like they're in on it, it looks like they're covering it up, there's this evidence here, all these different sources, people who don't know each other, all kinds of visual information, eyewitness testimony, and people still resist it. So when Ron Johnson came out and was the lead senator on this with Chuck Grassley to really investigate this, they were down his throat. Senator Globuchar called him an agent of disinformation. Chuck Schumer said he was spouting, quote, mindless garbage. Yet he was right the whole time. Yeah. So you wrote an entire book on how the intelligence agencies warped and changed and were infiltrated. or I guess maybe a postmodern progressive left-wing Marxist ideology insinuated itself into our intelligence agencies. You have a new report out that says kind of basically we're going to have to trust these people because we are competing nose to nose with China on AI. And AI, among other things, is going to control what information, how information, you know, it's going to control everything. And yet we're relying, you know. Is you're in your position at Center for Security Policy with an eye to this report that you just put out, how do you deal with this? How do you trust agencies that hired a woman who may have been part of a Fed'surrection and probably planted fake pipe bombs to scare the crap out of people? Well, that's the big problem, Vicki, is that you have a system that is, first of all, we don't have the capabilities.

22:49

to deal with the threat coming from China, with this spy threat coming from China. We have a mentality in the FBI and the other counterintelligence services, meaning to counter the foreign intelligence services, to just go and grab sort of the low-hanging fruit. Not so much to dig into these deep, years-long probes. They still do that, but not on the scale that's needed. And not on the giant scale that the Chinese government has, where... Chinese law requires every citizen of the People's Republic of China to act in the interest of their spy services when they go abroad or they will be punished and their family members will be punished back home. Right. We know this. And yet we're still letting them buy land right next to military bases. There's a notorious story now about just this couple, you know, they're Chinese and they just wanted an RV park right next to a nuclear facility. You've got to be kidding me. And we're just... Like it doesn't matter. In the meantime, our intelligence agencies seem to be much more interested in what people at school board meetings are saying. Or, you know, I wound up on the Arctic Frost list. You know, I mean, who am I? I know Jim Troopis. That's my claim to fame. And yet I'm on some dumb FBI surveillance list. So, you know, why aren't we doing it to them? Why is the intelligence agencies in the United States focused on us when if AI is a future, and I like you, I mean, I think it is and I really wish we'd be really careful about it, but we're not being careful about it. And it is going to decide what information is, you know, what information looks like. And information is, you know, the key to domination. Then what the heck? It's going to do our thinking for us. Yes. It's going to do our thinking for us. It's going to condition us on what to perceive and how to perceive it. You already see it right now with chat GPT, the way they skew their answers. And this is just, you know, California lefties doing this. Right. Wait, wait until you have a Chinese regime, which I'm sure the Chinese are already doing through our system with all of these graduate students that the president wants to keep bringing into the country. Yeah, because colleges would collapse. It's crazy. Well, it's true, though. The Chinese pay cash. Full-price cash when they go to American colleges, and they literally subsidize American students. But that really says something about our university system and the state that it's in. The business model depends on the largest of the Chinese Communist Party. Yeah, the Chinese Communist Party and, you know, debt-backed student lending. 600,000 Chinese students supposedly are, you know, in American University. And again, as you say, they are required by their government to be, essentially be spies in the capacity that they can be for their own government. And so these are people who are working on tech. Yes. Yeah, they're working in big tech. They're working all over.

25:48

Every research university that has students from mainland China is a giant security risk because they're developing technologies and theories and processes and algorithms of a highly sensitive nature, but any national, any citizen of the People's Republic of China, by law at home, must become a spy if they're tasked to do that. What do we do? This is a terrible danger for it. I mean, are there, yeah, one thing. Let's just kind of, are there like four or five things that you can say if we did this tomorrow, things would get, you know, measurably better? Sure, just enforce federal law right now that bars foreign communist party members from entering our country except under extraordinary circumstances. Keep them out. Don't bring them in. That's easy. That's the first one. That's the first thing. In terms of Marco Rubio can do it tomorrow if he wants to. Well, he should be pressured to do it. But again, when you have President Trump saying, and I like President Trump, but when President Trump saying, well, all those American universities are going to fail if we get rid of all of the mainland Chinese students, well, let him fail. Let them fail. Yeah, yeah. What are universities producing at this point except, you know, debt-ridden majors in 19th century, you know, trans lesbian poetry? I mean, let them fail. And you don't see Chinese communist students coming here to take that stupid curriculum. They're taking engineering. They're taking mathematics. They're taking hard sciences. And then they're using that knowledge. Yeah, and our STEM focus has been, let's see if we can get more underprivileged, you know, poor kids into STEM. Let's see if we can get more women into STEM. How about we take the talented kids who are smart and we track them into STEM and then we pay them what they're worth and we unleash them in the capacity to defend America against what's going to be the, this is going to be probably the last war, the information war. Whoever wins it wins, right? Whoever wins the information war wins the world. Yes, and that's why AI is so vital because information is going to control everything, and we already see how that's happening. So imagine if the Chinese Communist Party, because it's not the Chinese people, it's the party that determines everything in China. The place is a dictatorship, but they have given extraordinary freedom to Chinese tech companies to develop AI as long as it comports to the interest of the party. So it's pushed capital into these companies. It's pushed talent into these companies. It has enabled these companies to develop and sell their products based on stolen American technology.

28:33

flood the international market with cheap Chinese AI technology, hardware and software, and then undercut American companies so that over the longer term, some of those companies are going to go broke. Some of them are going to have to cave into whatever the party tells them to do if they want to do business. Like right now, that's just a couple weeks ago. The Chinese said that any Western companies that are using rare earth minerals that we supply have to comply with our party regulation. So that means invidia and these big chip companies are going to have to comply with the Chinese Communist Party regulations if they want to have access to those minerals that are crucial to making the chips. Yeah, maybe we should stop letting the earth first people, you know, prevent the extraction of the earth minerals, the rare earth minerals and the other minerals needed in the United States because we've got them here. The espionage. Yeah, I'm over people first guy. The espionage, the tech espionage, trademark espionage, you know, patent espionage that's going on here. It's like we're not even trying. And that's another thing, I think, that unless we double down on that. And then I don't know. You know, you were talking about AI, China AI, saying in the interest of the party, you've got Gemma and ChatGPT and Claude and even GROC, which is probably the best of the bunch, spewing out. incorrect and sometimes maliciously defaming information that hurts you know anybody who would be like j michael Christopher Waller i bet we could probably get jemma to spit out some really horrible defamation about you um you know anyone who wants kind of america first kind of mentality is is that seems to be the target of our programmers right yeah and then Think of it. Ethics? Not just the ethics of AI. And where do you go with this? Can you convince a kid to commit suicide? Is that ethical, right? I mean, that's the kind of ethics that go into the algorithms that are being written up. So we're already grappling with this as Americans. Where does it stop? Where are the guardrails? And... What if you had Chinese Communist Party ethics, and it's under those party-controlled parameters that AI standards are developed? So if China dominates AI, it's going to dominate international standards for it, which means we all have to... comport to what Beijing wants in terms of AI. So it's going to condition our thinking. It's going to condition our perceptions. It's going to condition our behavior. And it's going to do the same to machines that can think. Right. And the more we rely on machines, the more we'll be influenced by them. You mentioned ethics. Beijing ethics. They, I mean, they vivisect people and harvest their organs for sale on a gray and black market. So that would be the kind of ethics we're talking about here. We're not talking about people who have, you know, universal human rights at the center of their ethical models. I'm quite scared. You had mentioned no guardrails. You know, not only no guardrails. I mean, we're not even trying with guardrails here, but it doesn't seem like there's a cohesive.

31:43

you know, a strategic plan. It seems like we're all just sort of throwing spaghetti at the wall, Michael, and I'm not sure that's the, I don't think that's going to get it done. You said in your paper, five years from now, we're going to find out who wins this race. And we seem like we're really behind. Well, it's kind of neck in neck because we have a lot of advantages. And President Trump had reversed a lot of Biden, all of Biden's. executive orders that were holding American AI back, meaning, well, we have to include diversity standards, and we have to keep the labor union interests in mind when developing AI. These things were just, yeah, all kinds of stuff like that. And so, well, you know, we don't have the luxury of moving that slowly anymore because the technology is developing so fast and because the Chinese communists want to dominate us. in five years, according to their last five-year plan, and the current five-year plan they're developing now, which is from now until 2030. And they don't care if it's a very real race. Yeah, they don't care if they make mistakes along the way. That's another thing. They don't care if they make some mistakes along the way. Center for Security Policy.org, that is where you can find the paper, I believe, on AI, which is very alarming. And it's going to keep me up tonight. Thanks a lot for writing that one. And again, I recommend, as does Ron Johnson, the book, Big Intel, Big Intel by J. Michael Christopher Waller. Thank you, sir, for being on the program today. Thank you, Vicki. Good to have you. And thank you, Middleton Ford, for sponsoring our hotline. We will be right back. Welcome back to the program. It's the Vicki McKenna Show, our number two. Here is your next chance to win. Hopefully you heard our contest promotion right at the top of the hour there. Your new word for the fall fortune cash contest is dollar. D-O-L-L-A-R, and you will enter the keyword dollar either at our website, which is W-I-B-A.com or the I-Hart Radio app. You can play on the app as well. Just navigate to our radio station. Then you'll find the contest link. And enter the keyword dollar. This is a nationwide contest. You're playing against the whole country. We've had a number of winners. on the Vicki McKenna show, even three. And so you want to play. We're not going to stalk you or sell your information. We just want you to go to our website or iHeartRadio app. It's our way of saying, hey, check us out. So we'll call you if you win. Don't screen your message or don't screen your phone calls. We won't leave messages. There you go. All right. I want to get to this insane. I hope this is just one of those things that Trump did to light a fire under people. about the issue of housing affordability. Because what he said about a 50-year mortgage is insane. Now what Trump does sometimes is he says things and it makes people scramble. Okay, now Trump is paying attention to housing affordability because it's not affordable in the United States. You know, almost all of the people who actually own their houses outright are over the age of 65 that did not use to be the case. We are.

34:54

We're in a crisis here. So Trump says 50-year mortgage. I hope that's just a way to get people to do anything else. Because a 50-year mortgage would make housing affordability an impossible problem to solve. Overnight, you would have people with 55% more buying power. If you can afford to get in on a 30, you can buy 55% more property, or you can pay, I should say, 55% more on a 50-year mortgage. If you're looking at the same monthly payment, why would you do that? What would happen? All of a sudden, everyone's like, wow, well, maybe I can afford a house. You would have so many people flooding into an already constrained market because we don't want to build. We don't want to get zoning out of the way. We don't want to get regulations out of the way to let builders build. We've got all of these different local policies that want to stop builders from building. We've got government intervention in the form of... affordable housing grants that essentially allow government developers to bid up the price of property so that market rate developers have to pay more, which means they have to charge you more if you're going to buy the house or you're going to rent the apartment. We already have that. You want to make that worse by bringing more people who need housing into the marketplace. And that's just one of the many things that is going to happen if we would do something that's insane. It's insane. On top of that, you have the federal government underwriting lending to people who have no business being in the country in the first place. We'll get to that coming up in a second when I get Hannah Davis from Fair on the program. But this is, I'm glad Trump is talking about housing, but this is a. Just a terrible idea. There's so many ways it's a terrible idea in so many ways. You'll never pay off your house. You'll never want to sell it because buying the next, you know, exploded cost house is going to cost you more. You'll just be stuck if you can get in in the first place. I think the housing market would freeze so ice solid. that I don't even know where people would live. That's kind of scary scenarios I can see. So I'm hoping that this is just a way for Trump to get people to talk about housing. Get government out of housing. Get ban hedge funds from buying tracks of housing, then selling properties to their shell companies, artificially increasing the costs, artificially increasing everybody's price to access the market. That's something that we could do. Stop letting investors buy up tracks of housing and start thinking about housing is housing. Places for people to live. What are the government things that are in the way? Where do they exist? Is it in the local zoning? Is it in?

38:09

The lending is it, I mean, how is this, how did we get to a place where 40 years ago, anybody under the age of 30 with a decent job could afford to put down a 20% down payment and buy a house? And now you can't do that. The 50 year mortgage isn't the flippant answer to it. So. Let's just, I mean, I think the Republicans need to get serious about the issue of affordability, of everything. But the answer isn't another government overlay, another government demand. The answer isn't more government. It's less. We have not even spent, as conservatives, we have not spent more than. Oh, I don't know, five minutes per campaign speech talking seriously about what less government means. We don't, we say less government, we don't ever describe what that means. And every time we get close to being able to have less government, some big government. constituency complains that their stuff might go away. So the more we ratchet up big government, the more we expand the footprint of government in our lives, the less likely it is that any of us at some point in the future of our lifetimes will be able to afford just day-to-day living expenses. So let's stop. Anyway, we're going to take a break. I want to talk about something else that's impacting housing affordability. A lot of it is the supply versus the demand for housing. And when you have constrained supply by giving federally backed loans to illegal aliens, What did you think might happen, especially in those supply-constrained markets where there are a lot of illegal aliens like Illinois or California? We'll take a quick break on the Vicki McKenna show. I'll be right back. So let me give you an example of one of the reasons why we have a housing affordability problem. Just New York. 200,000 brand new New Yorkers. Courtesy of the Biden administration's importation of, you know, the third world are putting a constraint on their housing supply. 200,000 more people suddenly need housing in New York. Anyway, when you've got the FHA underwriting backing up. non-immigrant or rather a non-citizen lending. That's just bananas. Because on top of that, you've got subsidized housing that's also being doled out. You've got housing vouchers that are being doled out. You've got whole buildings that are being converted just to absorb this massive people over 16 million of them during the Biden administration, 200,000 of them landed in New York alone.

41:06

And I think these are people actually might have legit visas. But anyway, one of the ways we do get at dealing with cost of government, cost of everything is by getting rid of the importation of the entire third world. Federation for American Immigration Reform, Santa Davis, joins me on the program to talk about something Marco Rubio announced, and that was the public charge rule is back into effect. It's a start, right, Hannah? I mean, maybe it cuts off the spigot of the dole, but I suppose New York and Los Angeles and San Francisco can still use their own money. Yeah, that's exactly right. Thanks for having me. My pleasure. All right. So let's talk about how bad this has gotten because it's just common sense, right? If you're going to use services in the United States, if you're going to need an FHA loan, if you're going to need Medicaid, if you're going to need housing, if you're going to need food, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, then you're public charge. And, you know, we're going to take that under consideration when we decide whether we're going to let you in or not. Yeah, that's exactly right. You know, immigration in and of itself privilege and not a right. And when it comes down to immigrants in general, they go to sanctuary cities and sanctuary states because they understand that it doesn't matter if they're a public charge. They realize that the jury jurisdiction allow their constituents to pay them. Whether it be like you just mentioned or food, you know, the driver's license, they'll give them work authorization, and then they're off onto the streets. And it's an issue we're seeing right now on the big ass. We've got MAMDONI, I'm sorry. in January on New Year's Day. And he's already instigating the Trump administration, you know, saying if you've got to get to us, you'll have to get through all of us. He seems... proud of the state of his city. And so it's likely that we're going to have more ice enforcement, perhaps the National Guard in the sanctuary city that is New York City. And it's going to be a showdown. I think there's going to pushback, but operations are going to ramp there because you can't have millions of people or hundreds of thousands of people in a city and there being a pushback eventually from the constituents that are there legally. Yeah, I just want to let you know you're getting a little crunch on your phone connection there, Hannah, if there's a way you could just maybe get into a slightly stronger cell signal. But to your point, you've got people digging in saying, you know, you can do whatever you'd like. And we're still...

43:42

not going to comply. So there's all kinds of ways. So you say you can't be a federal charge. Well, maybe you can't be on a specific federal program, but dollars can be moved. Dollars are fungible, can be moved into programs at the sanctuary city level, at the sanctuary state level. We're doing it in Wisconsin, Hannah. We are saying we are not going to police. the Medicaid rolls. We are not going to police the WIC benefit roles. We're not going to police the voting roles. We're not policing any of this stuff. We're just going to pretend like if we don't pay any attention to it, it's not a problem. And that's our governor is essentially kind of flipping the bird to President Trump and to Marco Rubio, even as they get more serious because they figure you can't do an ICE operation everywhere. Yeah, that's exactly right. And states like Wisconsin that are doing that are going to continue to have an influx of migrants into their cities. The more you incentivize aliens to live there, the more they're going to come. And it's going to cause, you know, the American constituents of Wisconsin to want to leave. They don't want to pay. They don't want to subsidize their own room, essentially. They don't want to pay for these people when they can barely make it by themselves. You know, the average Americans that's paycheck to paycheck, not. taking into consideration how much they have to pay for illegal aliens that are residing in their city. So it's a shame we're seeing it. You know, and it's some touted by the right during the previous administration that every state is a sanctuary state. And just because the border is closed now doesn't mean that that's still not true. Everybody's still in the impact of what the previous administration did. And it's trickling into every economy in smaller states or states out that you wouldn't think would have the issue. Another part of the problem is we've not addressed, and that is, I know, Trump's ICE enforcement operations tend to be focusing on criminal illegal aliens, so people who have committed crimes over and above the act of coming into the country illegally. And that is that we have, you know, huge operations that rely on illegal alien labor. And there are many in Wisconsin. In fact, What they will say is please President Trump don't send ice. We love you, but don't send ice to our egg farming operation, you know, to our whatever operation because we're not going to have any workers left and we don't have enough U.S. workers to fill the void. That's a problem no one wants to confront at all. And that's what Tony Evers, our governor is hiding behind as kind of a shield right now on the Trump administration's, you know, what I think is an empty threat of coming after federal dollars for states that don't comply. Yeah, that's right. People can get very squishy to that specific topic. People can be very pro-quarter, very anti-legal immigration, but then when it starts trickling into their pockets, the labor sector, whether it be hospitality or the farming, the agricultural industry, that's when people start to get squishy and they want to back off. At the end of the day, it's not fair. to the migrants that are working in substandard environments being paid under the table. There's no OSHA. There's no regulation. They're being underpaid. And then it's also not fair to the American who will take that job. I'm so sick of hearing, you know, I'm from the South. I'm so sick of hearing that, you know, somebody won't work on a farm, that that's, you know, an American won't do that. Yeah, they would. If you paid them a livable wage and they did it legally, they would. And so it's not only bad and harmful and slightly abusive, some form of...

47:05

If you really dive into it for the mind. It's also bad for the American and the taxpayer. Sure. It's this idea that, you know, you know, these are jobs. George Bush said this. These are jobs other Americans won't do. He always used the word other. Well, then pay them. Pay people decently. And then they will do those jobs. What they're addicted to, what they have built into their business model is cheap labor. That's what they have built into their business model. That's what how many decades of under the table, you know, wink and nod immigration, illegal immigration have we tolerated because we have. permitted companies to build into their business model cheap labor when other companies can't get away with that uh you know your typical manufacturer in wisconsin can't get away with that your typical employer in wisconsin can't get away with that why are we letting certain sectors of the economy get away with a business model that in that necessarily needs cheap labor It's power of the purse, you know. Everybody says, you know, think your farmer, you know, hospitality industry in and of itself. When you think of migrant labor, it's not always in the field. It's in hotels. It's in cooking, chefs, things like that. It's a billion-dollar industries kind. And so it's got the power of the purse, essentially. And then something does need to give. More Americans need to talk about it. They need to post about it. And then more politicians need to bring it to the table and say, hey, this is. that's going to give anymore. We've got to do something. Yeah, here's the thing. You know, we've talked all about immigration enforcement. We've closed the border. Tom Homan's wonderful. We love what ICE is doing with the criminal illegal aliens, busting up drug cartels, you know, all of that stuff. No one's saying mandatory E-Verify. I'm kind of shocked. You know, I work at a company that uses E-Verify. It's not that hard. So mandatory E-Verify. How come we're not hearing that ever? And it's exactly the problem that I just described because the large constituents, business constituents have built into their business model, cheap foreign labor. And so the moment we do that, the moment it gets very difficult for a lot of them to be competitive. That's exactly right. And he verified changes for different states. There's different levels that business employers have to take. Some, you know, don't require it at all. Some different sectors require you have to use if you have a certain amount of employees. And so it's all wishy-washy and it changes depending on where you're at in the U.S. And so, yeah, that's something that needs to be wrapped up in a bill that needs to get passed and needs to be federal. Or at least, you know, if it's done just at the state level. a semblance of common sense. And that if you're doing, usually verify in New York, it's going to be the same as in Hawaii. There needs to be something across the board, definitely, because people are flying under the radar. Yeah. And I think a concerted campaign, perhaps, at the state legislative level is something that could be very, very useful. We don't even talk about it. Our Republicans who, you know, are busy trying to figure out ways to, you know, create an online sports gaming cartel.

50:04

in Wisconsin have never broached this subject at all. I don't think I have heard about even a survey of the number of illegal aliens or non-U.S. citizens in the state of Wisconsin since Congressman Glenn Grohman was a state senator, which was, you know, more than a decade ago. So we have lots of work to do on this. It's good, though, Marco Rubio reestablishing the public charge rule that, you know, at least gives the administration a hammer. to use if it needs one. It's just not using the hammer, it seems to me, Hannah. Right. I mean, I can see that, but there's also some good things happening too. We said with Marco Rubio. And then, of course, the State Department, they began back in January of this year. People who come here legally and they have visas that abuse their visa or commit crimes. They've revoked over 80,000 visas since the beginning of the year. A lot of these people are bad. People in the UIs, people that have a... They're also cracking down on the student, student visa holders. They've revoked 8,000 because of their participation in the 2024 pro Hamas. There are some good things happening at the federal level, and they're cracking down on not only a legal alien committing crimes, but people who are here leaving that are committing crimes on visas. So there's always some good news. The border is closed as well, but you're right. It's something we're working on, B-E-Verify. things like that. I definitely agree. Yeah, mandatory verify. Just do it. And the state legislature instead of trying to figure out ways to reward Democratic spending constituencies who want online gambling for sports betting should, you know, I don't know, maybe tackle this instead. I appreciate the time, Hannah. Thank you very much. We're going to take a break on the Vicki McKenna Show. Welcome back to the program. It's the Vicki McKenna Show. Don't forget you've got a chance to win. $1,000 in our nationwide fall fortune cash contest. I gave you the word. Hopefully you remember that. Don't forget if you've been dawdling, get that word entered. You may win $1,000. We will call you if you win. You have until 55 minutes past the hour to play. Okay. Told you the word already. Not supposed to say it more than once, but you could win. Dollar. Just saying. Okay. Alvin Lee is standing by to talk about something, well, Gosh, can I just get worse? To talk about counselors, school counselors, Alvin, you've done a big report called Courage as a Habit, and it just depresses me because right when I think maybe we can have some impact when we hear people like Ryan Walker talk about things, Walters, talk about things like we'll have an alternative teachers union. Then your report comes out, and I think to myself, will it even matter if the school counselors decide what the, you know, environment for learning is going to be in the first place? It's great to have you, by the way. Thank you so much. It's a pleasure to talk to you, Vicki. All right. So, yeah. So it sounds like from your report that sort of the environment, let's call it the psychosocial environment.

53:17

of the school, the culture of the school is kind of set by the people who are supposedly supposed to be in the role one way or another of counselor. So how does this impact education and how do you get rid of the problem? Because the problem is this in the social, cultural environment, this culture is. poison. They're poisoning the schools and maybe if you got rid of one group, you could actually have some success with some others. Absolutely. I wouldn't say that getting rid of the school counselors will solve every single indoctrination tentacle, but it would massively help. If I were to only get rid of one group in K-12, it would be the American School Counselor Association. And I'll tell you why. They are the only, the American School Counselor Association, it's an organization that governs mental health in all 50 states. All 50 states use them. And because mental health is such a black hole, no one looks at them because everybody hears the word, the phrase mental health, and they think, well, of course we want good mental health. But through the school counselors who are the foot soldiers of the transgender cult and anything critical race theory, anything open borders. they will couch and they will use that as a Trojan horse that deliver all the woke ideology through mental health. And so the reason why I would get rid of them before anyone else is because they're the only position, Vicky, in all of K-12 that has one-on-one access with your children. And most of your listeners right now are going school counselors. Do you mean the nice lady I saw for college prep courses? Those were called guidance counselors back in the day, and they no longer exist. Back in 2014, the guidance counselors were changed to school counselors, and they called themselves social justice change agents. And so now they are no longer a reactive role where they just sit in their office and they help you with your college prep courses or if you want to sign up with the military. They are now proactive. And so now instead of having one or two, there's dozens and dozens of school counselors all the way into elementary school. And we've now spent over the last 10 years billions in mental health. And this is why academics are worse than it's ever been. Children's real mental health are worse than it's ever been. When we keep hearing the Republicans say, we need more mental health spending in schools. That should be an alarm. Right. Because it's funneling into the American School Counselor Association. And they're the ones who are utilizing the dollars to create the program. So I'm going to guess that I'm pretty close to accurate when I say SEL, which is social emotional learning. Yep. is something out of the think tanks from the American School Counselors Association. An SEL is now the dominant sort of paradigm through which all your kids' lessons are funneled. 100%. And social-emotional learning, yes, is the practice. It's the delivery system of critical race theory and queer theory.

56:32

It is the governing systemic change in education, so you're 100% correct. And Republicans fall for this because they think, oh, good, they're talking about mental health now, not guns, not understanding that the mental health as through the ASCA, as through school counselors, are the ones that's creating more violence. And so this is what our report, the ASCA 2025 violation report, this is what it proves. And so if you have your legislators, if you're working with school board, you know, you flip the school board, take this report. You can go to courageousahapit.org, click on school counselors. Courage is a habit.org, school counselors, download this report. We've done all the heavy lifting for you. We prove in that report every paragraph we link back to them. Don't take my word for it. Don't take Alvin Louis' word for it or Courage is a Habit. We link everything. Look, this is all they are. There is no benefit to them. They don't do anything else. This is all they are. And we prove it by showing you their ethics statements, trainings, professional development, all their links, everything. So this is even, so if you get, you're actually arguing that this is even more insidious in the teachers union. This is, um, because it's not, you can't just point to it as kind of a group in schools, right? This is an organization. They provide the standards that all of now the mental health funded school counselors are, are learning and the, and the, um, ongoing education that they have to get. And the fact that they, everything is put through a critical theory lens, everything. So it's gender critical theory. It's race critical theory. It's everything about critical theory. So 100% of the people who are being employed as school counselors, if they're coming through this paradigm, are providing. this they're the injection system of the poison into the schools themselves can you just get rid of them can you just say we're not going to take any more school counselors how do i mean how do you how do you deal with that in a legislative way in a school board way how do you i mean they'll say well then you want kids to suffer It's the emotional blackmail, yeah. So in order for you to get rid of it, the first thing every parent has to do is understand language contamination, meaning to use your vocabulary and not your dictionary. So the emotional blackmail needs to be dealt with. You cannot let them go, you just want kids to suffer. It's white privilege. You can't start defending yourself because this is all, this is all they are. And so a lot of Republicans, a lot of good parents, they can't handle the emotional blackmail. So you've got to be able to steal yourself from there first. This is why we wrote the report. The report is ice cold. We did open heart surgery on them. There is no emotional blackmail. This is all they are and we proved it.

59:18

And so legislatively, what you can do is you can get the ASCA standards out of your Department of Education, which is helpful. That's the first step. But then you've got to go to each school district and say, we're no longer going to use the ASCA standards. And more importantly, we will no longer pay for school counselors, nor do we recognize. professional development credits if they use anything ASCA. It's not going to be one shot, Vicki. They didn't, you know what? Our enemies didn't get here in, you know, in a few years. It took them 60 years to march through the institution. But we have to take it a bite at a time and getting rid of the ASCA standards at the state department of education level and at the local level. That is going to go a long way. in getting this stuff out of your schools. I think first as well, stop increasing dollars for, quote, mental health in schools. Mental health is, it's getting so much worse. So every time you give it more money, then the situation becomes even more dire, even more kids are in need of more mental health services, which means you're going to give more money to hire more people who are using standards that are designed to degrade parental relationships with kids, to degrade children's mental stability, you know, to simply push critical theory on them and call it mental guidance, call it, you know, school guidance or counseling guidance or something like that. So, I mean, just say, you're not giving any more money. You're not going to use these standards any longer. If you want a guidance counselor to tell kids how to sign up for college, that's fine, but that's it. Yes, that's right. And they also hide it. And here's the thing, Vicki. Everything you said is 100% correct. I'm going to bring it up to even one more level so that parents recognize it. Anti-bullying. Be kind. trauma informed. All of that is to guilt you into allowing more of this. And so I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you your audience one question that I think will really help. Every time your school tells you, we're just doing this, is to help trauma, is to help black and brown kids, is to help this. Ask yourself through whose lens are they saying that? It was through the lens of an old school teacher who they really want your kids to do well and they have high discipline and high academic rigor, great. But today, through the lens of a queer theorist or a critical race theorist, when they say, we want your kid to be resilient. They don't really mean, like, the way you and I think about it. They mean, we want your kid to be resilient against homophobia and the patriarchy and climate changeism. Yes. We want your kids to be empathetic. Well, you and I define empathy different. They go, they want your daughters to be empathy, to have empathy when a man walks into the bathroom. When you and I think about anti-bullying, we think about this kid picking on someone smaller, making fun of someone's shoes because they don't have money. They're thinking, the way they look at it is your daughters need a restorative justice training. because she's the bully, because she is taking away the human rights of the man that wants to be in her bathroom. So you have to, the parents have to almost re-educate themselves. And then the best way for us to teach that is to ask yourself through whose lens is that trait being taught.

1:02:31

Well, we seem to have wound out, you know, anything we can say about DEI, right? Not anything the federal government can do. And we can say DEI. And then they just simply rename it to things like SEL. DEI, SEL, critical race theory, critical theory itself, queer theory, gender theory. It's all the same stuff. Joy. You'll hear this joy. I'm going to give you a word that you're going to hear joy, genius, resilient. That's what they've renamed it too. Yeah. So the thing I think is the next step is for, you know, the Moms for Liberty types, the parents out there who are activist is to start looking into this because the whole paradigm of your kids' day is filtered through the school counselors. You know, like you said, if you can get rid of that. We want guidance counselors, I guess. They were useless, frankly, to me. But, you know, at least they got me, but they printed me off college applications. You know, if you want something like that, that's basically a secretary. If you want basically a secretary to help somebody sign up for the military or somebody sign up for college, fine. But mental health counselors aren't there about mental health. And that's that they've got us hooked. And you made a comment that I think is important. Republicans don't want to talk about gun violence, right? They love to talk about mental health. Let's just throw more money at mental health. And the leftists and the neo-Marxists laugh their butts off because they're like, that's exactly what we wanted them to do. Exactly right. Yeah. I mean, this is so, this just depressed me because I thought, geez, are we making some inroads here? We've got Linda McMahon who's, you know, at least willing to rhetorically talk about this stuff. We've changed Title IX back to normal. We've had successes with the IOC, right? We just had that big success. We're starting to feel like we're winning. But it doesn't sound like we're winning. Well, you have to understand that the wins are on the outside level. So let's take the IOC, for example. Yes, that's great. I mean, it's ridiculous that we have to get there, but fine. They finally found the common sense and the backbone to do it. And all of us are going, yay, great, right? We're healing. We're winning. But what we don't understand is that in K through 12, they're teaching your children that that is not good. That that's anti-bullying. That's taking away someone's human rights. Where's the empathy? And so while we are celebrating your children in K-12 are seething and being driven towards we're going to change that back when we get to vote next. And so when things like New York happens or the election happens like in Minnesota and New Jersey, people go, I don't understand what's going on. I thought we were winning. Well, you're winning on this. You're winning out here, but you're losing your children. And as Abraham Lincoln so famously said, the philosophy of the schoolhouse in one generation will be the philosophy of the government in the next. And this is your kid's philosophy. Everybody should read this report. One more time with the website because I'm looking at a Google Doc, so I don't know if that's a good website to give out for the Courage as a Habit report.

1:05:38

Courage is a habit.org. That's courage is a habit.org. And if you click on school counselors, you can download that report and equally as important. We have an opt-out form on that very page that every parent, I beg every parent. Please fill out that opt-out form. One opt-out form per child per school year. and insist, this is not an invitation for a debate. They're going to try to gaslight you and ask you questions. This is a demand that your child will not have any contact with any mental health professionals in schools without your written consent. Parents, if you feel like your kids genuinely need some help because of certain situations in your family, you research that therapist, you get the reviews from your family and trusted friends, and you go interview that therapist. and then you bring your child and you work with them on an individual basis, do not let these transgender cultists and foot soldiers talk to your child in K-12. Because they'll talk them into mental distress. Courageshabit.org. This is really alarming. I hadn't even considered it before, and I think about education a lot. Thanks for doing the report, Alvin. It was great to have you. Great to have you on the program. Thank you, Vicki. Happy to be back. Thank you for an opportunity. You betcha. Alvin, Louis, from Courage's Habit.org, please check out the report. Please get that opt-out form. Send it to your kids. You know, if you're listening and you've got grandkids, you're worried about, send it to your daughters and your sons, get them, convince them to opt their kids out of this. It's, it happened under our nose. Well, we just thought it was a guidance counselor. Well, we woke up one day and they're not guidance counselors. We'll take a quick break on the Vicki McKenna show. Just a couple of seconds before we're out of time, sending you off to lunch. Coming up, Senator Ron Johnson will join me. Don't have a scheduled date on when the vote is going to happen in the House. on ending the shutdown. Remember, the Senate changed a lot of things, and so it has to go back to the House, but Congressman Glenn Grothman will join me as well. Everybody have a great lunch. See you back here at 2 o'clock. Good afternoon and welcome to the program. It's the Vicki McKenna Show. Before we get to anything which includes Ron Johnson, we're going to talk about Obamacare and how somehow John Thune managed to keep the Republican Senate in line in this shutdown deal negotiation. It's more interesting than you think. He's going to join me on the program. So is Congressman Glenn Grossman going to join me on the program with a look ahead on the House vote, the looming House vote on this? Before we get to any of this, I want to do an update on a story I did yesterday about this sleazebag attempt. to try to shoehorn in sports books, a cartel controlling sports book in Wisconsin. So there's a behind the scenes thing going on where... Nobody wants to amend the Constitution because Wisconsin voters typically reject expansion of gaming in Wisconsin whenever they're given a chance to vote on it. So the Republicans and the Democrats are working behind the scenes to try to work a deal to give the tribes cartel control over online sports books. Draft Kings doesn't like it. None of these other outfits like it because they're not going to get a cut. So they're trying to do this to bring sports betting into Wisconsin and take it off reservation, take it off tribal property. And they're doing this behind closed doors. They don't want to have public hearings on it. They don't want to talk to anyone. I talked about this yesterday. But get this. They want to now consider the Republicans in the Senate now want to consider passing this sleaze bag giveaway. to tribal lobbyists who, by the way, always write checks to Democrat candidates against Republicans without enough Republican votes. There aren't enough Republican votes to pass the legislation. Now, the rule that was said by Devin Lemieux is that you have to have 17 Republican votes to pass legislation. That's just the rule. And if it doesn't have 17 votes and we got to go to Democrats to get something over the line, we're not going to do it. Well, they're going to do it with this one, apparently, because the tribes have hired Republican lobbyists to twist the arms of Republican senators to try to promise them the moon as far as campaign donations go in advance of elections. The same tribes are not going to write those big checks to Republicans. They'll write three times the checks to Democrats. But here you've got Senate leadership, Republican Senate leadership. looking to work a deal on behalf of a Democratic constituency on an issue most Wisconsinites don't support and trying to do it with Democrat votes instead of Republican votes. Get the Democrats to try to pass this thing. Here's the other thing that really aggravates me. It's the same thing they did for the Tavern League with the Wedding Barn bill. Devin Lemmy Hugh got it passed with Democrat votes because there weren't 17 Republican votes to pass it. So why? Because lobbyists were writing big checks. Lobbyists who are writing big checks promising campaign contributions, that apparently is your ticket to success in a Republican-controlled legislature when Republican senators don't want to vote for things. But wait, it gets better than this. I just found out that the reason why the PBM reform bill is stalled, the PBM reform bill, PBMs are ripping off Wisconsinites.

1:12:02

on prescription drugs and have been for years. And there is an effort to try to fix that problem in Wisconsin, to try to take away the power from the PBMs, pharmacy benefit managers in Wisconsin. But that bill sung up. No, why? Because there aren't 17 Republican votes for it. So one bill that would help Wisconsinites, but doesn't have a lobbyist constituency writing big checks, doesn't have 17 votes. And so that one stalled. Two other bills that have no support broadly and don't help Wisconsinites at all. One passed with less than 17 Republican votes and the other one is poised to right now. Why? Because there is a big lobbyist constituency. Our Republican legislature, a Republican-controlled legislature, is just plain broken at this point, doing things at the behest of lobbyists for Democratic constituencies, breaking rules to do it. But when it comes to a bill that would actually help Wisconsinites has bipartisan support, but doesn't have 17 Republican senators, oh, I'm sorry, can't advance that bill, can't touch that one. We don't want to break the rules. What an absolute joke our legislature has become at this point. It's an absolute embarrassment. I'm going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Ron Johnson's going to join me. More on this as the week goes on is I'm finding out more about this. It gets more outrageous by the second. I'll be right back. Welcome back to the program, and I'm pleased to have Senator Ron Johnson on the program to talk about a few different things, the most of which is Obamacare. But I would be remiss if I didn't say, wow, none of us from the cheap seats were thinking that John Thune would hold it together. We really, I mean. We've been trained not to believe that the Senate was going to hold tough. But you guys managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat on that one and, I mean, darn near total cave by Chuck Schumer. Well, a lot of credit has to go to Rick Scott, who's head of steering. I'll take some credit, too, because I'm involved in that a lot. But what we did is we brought in. Speaker after speaker, people that testified before my hearing. Taryn Bragdon from Foundation of Government Accountability, Brian Blaze from Paragon, Joel White, I had testified. But these people came in on our Wednesday lunch, and they just educated us in terms of what the reality is in terms of Obamacare. And it's an ugly reality. I held a hearing last week assessing the damage done by Obamacare with those three witnesses. And then Richard Blumenthal, who is my ranking member, brought in a mom from Madison as his witness.

1:15:02

And, you know, she went through her situation, which I'm highly sympathetic with her, okay. But at the very end of the hearing, after I laid out all this evidence of all this damage, the consolidation industries, the United Health up 1177 percent in terms of stock price since Obamacare, the, you know, disabled children being crawled out of services because the able-body adults in Medicaid expansion, you know, again, the dramatic skyrocketing of premiums. After all that damage, Richard Blumenthal, at the end, kind of slumming up, you know, where are these millions of people damaged by Obamacare? I don't see anybody in the hearing room. And then he went out to say, and I actually put this in a tweet. He said, I don't know anybody who's been harmed by Obama quit here. They go, well, what? Your own witness. The mom from Madison, Wisconsin, lost her employer-sponsored care in 2016 because of Obamacare, signed up for a silver plan, $1,000 a month, couldn't afford it, had a switch to bronze plan, $14,000 deductible. Vicki, when I was buying health care in 2010, that was a catastrophic plan. Those things were very cheap. But by the way, that's what every, the Democrats all complained about back then is, you know, health care, insurance, not really insurance. And so they outlawed catastrophic plans for the most part. Obamacare is a catastrophic plan. Anyway. Had medical expenses. Her husband and her had to take out an $18,000 home equity line of credit. I'm going, your own witness is a victim of Obamacare. But that is there in such a state of denial, and they lie. Yesterday on the floor, Tammy Baldwin had a motion to table. Bernie Sanders had a table. They said the same thing. 20 million Americans are going to see their premiums double. They're getting that from a really distorted Kaiser Family Foundation. It's just an awful study. It's been refuted in the Wall Street Journal. Here are the facts, okay? There are 24 million people enrolled in the exchanges. Six million those are probably people don't exist. Okay, that's because the zero premium, we've talked about this. There's all kinds of fraud. But we'll use 24 million. Of that, 22 million are at 400 or below percent poverty line. Okay. So those people, they will still get their Obamacare subsidies. And because insurance rates average are going up 26 percent, the dollar model subsidies is actually increasing. So it's not like they're getting less subsidies, the dollar amount is getting more if they have a higher, you know, if they have a higher net policies, because Obamacare, the premiums are going up. But there's about 1.6 million people over 400 percent. Those are the new people signed on to the Obamacare subsidies with the enhanced temporary COVID subsidies, right? They lose their coverage, okay? I am sympathetic with that group.

1:18:11

I've actually got a plan. I'm talking to Mike Crapeau, a head of finance about what we can maybe do if Democrats are willing to acknowledge reality, admit ObamaCare has been a miserable failure, and work with us in good faith to actually fix it. Okay? But I doubt they will be able to do that. But that's, so you're saying that's the reason why the caucus held together is because you had people coming in and explaining the reality. of what, you know, all of this. Yeah, we actually had information. Good info. Well, it wasn't shared with the public. Not broadly. I mean, unless people were like looking at your Twitter feed, your X feed or watching this stuff looking for it because the media made it sound like it was you were just going to rip the rug out from under people and their health insurance. Back to that Madison mom. Obamacare is the reason her employer dumped her insurance. Obamacare is the reason then she had to go on a plan. Obamacare is the reason why she had a 14. thousand dollar deductible and a thousand dollar premium. The only reason that happened was because of Obamacare. And when you told me that UHC's profit has gone up 1177 percent, I wrote that down, since the beginning of Obamacare, that tells you all you need to know about what the real point of this legislation ever was. And that was to, I guess, allow health systems to consolidate, vertically integrate PBMs and pharmacies, suck printed subsidies, and save it all for themselves, because none of that's going to we the people to lower our premiums. No, the main purpose of Obamacare was a single-payer system. Okay, so they didn't mind the consolidation of these industries because they're going to be a lot easier for the government to take that over or just control them. Okay? The whole point of the enhanced subsidies, it had nothing to really with COVID. They used as an excuse as an excuse. That signed up more people, made more people addicted to the subsidies to be able to afford insurance. So this has always been about, you know, Obama, before it ever got implemented, you like your doctor, you like your health care plan, you can keep them. No, 2013 lie of the year. Your premium is going to decrease $2,500 per family. They knew that was an outright lie. That Jonathan Gruber, one of the designers this, I've been seeing a lot of his statements about how stupid the American people were, and we use that stupidity, okay? That's how cynical this it was. So, no, the people who designed this, they were not stupid people, they're just really devious, okay? They wanted a single-payer system. They designed a system that would collapse.

1:20:58

it would pretty well force America into a single-payer system. Our task is trying to prevent that, okay? And they give us, I think, a really good opportunity because now we're going to focus on what a miserable failure of Obamacare is. That's the purpose of the enhanced subsidies was to hide that fact, paint it over, to mask it, okay? Because if people don't know what their gross subsidy or their gross premium is, they just know what they're paying. And the enhanced subsidy for if you're at 150 or below, you didn't pay any premium at all, which allowed the unscrupulous brokers to sign up people, didn't even know it, set the money right to the insurance carriers. We went from 4 million to 12 million no claim policyholders in Obamacare. From 4 to 12, don't tell me those are all legitimate policies. They're not. And the insurance carriers had to know it. United was probably one of the worst abusers. But all that money went into these, of the seven top insurance carriers, the lowest stock price increase was 414%. United's highest in $1,177. You know, my 401K didn't go up like that. Neither did the mom from Madison. She didn't have her retirement savings go up by 414% or 1177%. But I like how you said it was. The point of this was to collapse the system, was to force consolidation, was to force this situation where everybody then needs a subsidy. Plus 400% of poverty. Oh, now I need my subsidy. You didn't before you got it, but now you need it. How else are you going to survive without it? I love, by the way, and by love, I mean, I'm disgusted with the fact that there are. almost what, four times as many scam policies out there as there are people who got the enhanced subsidies. I find that shocking that you were able to actually. So I guess you could create somebody who gets an enhanced subsidy out of thin air, right? That's what you were saying. Go ahead. Yeah. So I want to go back to 20 million people with their premiums doubling. It's just a lie. Of the 24 million people, 22 million are below 400%. Their dollar amount of subsidies will actually increase. Now, their net premiums are going to go up because Obamacare rates are going up. But the Kaiser Foundation, the Family Foundation, they are distorting it by using a big average. So if you're above 400%, particularly if you're, let's say you're 60 years old, not qualifying for Medicare. Okay, so you just lost your subsidy. So you went from a highly subsidized plan, not paying probably much, to now getting no subsidy, and your insurance rate, it's like $31,000. That is true. Okay, I've had my get people look into this. I mean, a six-year-old person is paying $37,000 a year for insurance policy. It was highly subsidized with the enhancement. Those are going away. So they're taking all those, you know, they're taking those people spreading that massive increase in premiums over the 24 million people say it's going to double. It's not. For 22 million people, their rates will not double. Now, they're going up a lot higher than they should.

1:24:14

But so is their actual dollar amount of subsidy. They're actually not getting less. They're getting more from the government, and that's the whole scam of Obam of Obamacare. Premium is on average 169% increase state by state. Inflation has gone up 39%. ObamaCare, at least, this is at least, this just look at a one type of premium, state by state, 4.3 times rate inflation. I mean, nothing's gone up 4.3 times of rate inflation. that I know of me other than health care, Obamacare. That's, I mean, your insurance company is getting all that money. They're just charging you more. So there's more Obamacare money that's flowing into the pockets of insurance companies, but your premiums are going up. And Richard Blumenthal, Richard Blumenthal doesn't think this is, that this isn't a problem, that the people who are paying more while their insurance companies get the printed dollars is not creating a gigantic class of victims. That's bizarre. It's not bizarre because what the Democrats do want is a complete universal health care system. And I guess then we go to hard rationing. I'm not sure how they think that's going to work in a country of 312 million people. But then we go to hard rationing of care because nobody will be able to afford it at that point. Well, we already see it with Medicaid expansion. As I said, there's a great article in the Wall Street Journal, a father of a 17-old severely autistic child. God bless him, they're taking care of this. child in their home. They want home health care. They're in a 10-year waiting list because they're being crowded out by the single working age, you know, able-bodied adults to Medicaid expansion because the providers get paid more for those patients. The states get paid more because for every dollar they spend on an adult like that, Medicaid expansion, they'll get nine bucks from the federal government versus. $1.33 for a disabled child. So again, it's a grotesque architecture. It's causing all kinds of harm, and you want to talk about rationing. That's the exact kind of rationing you're going to get, where a disabled child is put on a 10-year waiting list to an able-bodied single adult who should be working, but probably isn't because why should he? He's getting food stamps. He's getting health insurance. I can play video games. This is a great life. That's what we've created that type of individual. We've created that level of dependency. Dependency is gross, but that's the exact path. The Democrats want to keep this nation on. That's exactly the architecture of Obamacare. They knew it would collapse. They're not that stupid. They knew this would all implode. Their hope was, as it was imploding, it would just continue to go down the path of Singapore system tell. We've got Bernie Sanders, Medicare for All. Yep. And they thought that they could use this moment to try to score political points on the Republicans by getting the Republicans essentially to sign off on the next step toward universal health care, socialized medicine in the United States. You guys really, I mean, I'm pleased. I was impressed. And I certainly do hope that people are serious about taking on this issue because it isn't going away. Obamacare is going to go up next year and the next year and the next year.

1:27:32

until it finally does subsume the entire system. So thank you so much, Ron Johnson. Every day. You as well, Senator Ron Johnson, ladies and gentlemen, and we will be right back on the Vicki McKenna Show. Welcome back to the program. It's the Vicki McKenna Show. And Congressman Glenn Grothman joins me on the program. Let me just first say, Glenn, we don't expect a vote today on the Senate deal on ending the government shutdown, or do we maybe expect a vote today? No, I just think it's too much to expect all these congressmen are going to get in here by this evening, not to mention we're supposed to have an hourly break between when the Senate passes the bill. So if they get it done sometime tomorrow, I will be pleasantly pleased, although I got here today, and I'd like to congratulate the pilot who flew us in because the plane was coming in like a knuckleball. So... I'm glad I'm still here. Yeah, I am too. I'm glad he, I'm, you know, I mean, pilots don't want to die either. Right, but I've got some people I'm supposed to call, and we're all calling to make sure everybody gets here. But I'm sure some people won't be able to make it until tomorrow morning, which means I don't think are going to vote on this thing until tomorrow afternoon. But then the government is open, so we're all happy. All right. So everybody's sort of seeing this ahead of time. But at this present moment, air traffic controllers are not getting paid. You know, Capitol Police are not getting paid. Ice agents are not getting paid. So, you know, Chuck Schumer, by the way, wanted this to go on past Thanksgiving. He liked the pain. He thought the pain was very helpful to Democrats and thought the pain would be so harmful to Republicans in the upcoming midterms that they could ride it to victory in 2026. Apparently it wasn't playing out that way, though. I'm not sure what your constituents were saying to you, but apparently he was all in. And so was Tammy Baldwin, by the way. And so was Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore on maximizing the pain. Right. They had no problem any of those people, and particularly we can't forget Tammy Baldwin. All those people were quite happy if we were still sitting out a month from now. And they felt the people not getting food stamps was not something that bothered them. Maybe they even thought it was fine because a lot of the mainstream media were going to blame Republicans. I don't know how or why. And by the way, you can see on the final deal, this was a deal they were talking about about six weeks ago. So, you know, it's not even a really a new deal. It's just the Democrats, I think, a given number of Democrats realized that they were looking pretty ridiculous as they were the ones responsible for saying the food stamps aren't out there and they're the ones responsible. Why so few of the airline flights were on time? Well, it was boomeranging. The polls were boomeranging on Democrats, and particularly some of them who were vulnerable.

1:30:30

And so they were saying, I don't want to have to explain this. They keep taking these votes and I keep voting no. And to quote Angus King, you know, it just wasn't working anymore. It was working for a time, but it's just not working politically anymore. That's how crass Congress has become. By the way, kudos to Mike Johnson. Kudos to John Thune. I, by this point, Glenn. thought for sure there would be some smoky backroom deal where a whole bunch of Democrats and a handful of Republicans would have gotten together to open up the government. And it was the other way around, by the way. I want you to pay attention. The senator from Illinois. Gene Cheneyne. Pardon? The senator from Illinois. Oh, okay. He. is Mr. Insider Democrat. The fact that he voted for it indicates to me that the powers that be in the Democrat Party were okay with this. They realized their base didn't like it, but Dick Durbin would not have voted for this. Yeah, unless really this is what the powers would be in the Democrat Party wanted. Yeah, I think what I thought was the keybook. I think that's a good observation because Dick Durbin actually said, this isn't working anymore. I mean, he kind of telegraphed, we did this, you know, insinuated it was for politics, pretended it wasn't, but insinuated that it kind of was. And, you know, this is the guy who's ripping the Band-Aid off the hairy leg for everybody else to come on board and say, okay, we'll be the people. They're not going to lose their seats. We'll be the people who vote to reopen the government. I wonder the future of Chuck Schumer because it doesn't look like he engendered any love from the hard left progressive wing of the Democratic Party. And so I think in pretty short order in those 2026 midterms, if the Republicans win, a lot of Democrats who. are not willing to just sort of get on board with the Zohran Mamdani wing might see themselves sent packing. Absolutely. The anger of the left-wing Democrats, which, by the way, today, is the vast majority of that party here in Washington. You look what they're saying online. They are livid at these Democrats who kept the government open. The Zohran Mamdani wing of the party wanted a couple of months without food stamps, right? The Mondabi wing of the party wanted... More and more airline flights canceled. And they are angry they didn't get it. But that gives you a peek into what the Democrat Party will become even more two years from today and even more four years from today. They wanted more. James Carvel was on yesterday, yesterday the day before saying, okay, when we take back control, we've got to just do some things. We've got to obliterate the filibuster. We've got to pack the Supreme Court. We've got to make D.C.

1:33:30

a state, make Puerto Rico a state, and then seize control of all the district maps. And then, I mean, he's like, basically, that's how we're going to win. We're going to win, we're going to cheat, and then we'll never have to worry about losing again. I mean, that's the Democrats mentality. It's not what can we do to actually make it more affordable for people to have homes? What can we do to actually make it more affordable for people to afford their health insurance? None of that's real. It's lip service and Carville let the cat out of the bag saying once we get power again, we're never going to let the Republicans near us. Right. We are so close to losing this country. And people can't forget it. You know, they talk about a landslide last November. It wasn't that much of a landslide. 48% of the population voted for somebody who's not that far from Admi, quite frankly. And like you can expect from the hard left, they are... bare bones looking to destroy this country. I mean, if you think you had a lot of DEI in the past, wait till you see what happens when the Democrats are in charge and they try to permanently divide the country that way. If you don't think the government is over-regulating business today, wait until they get in there. I was talking to some people last week and get rid of, say, the franchise model on... McDonald's and all that stuff, so you have to have all big corporations, which are easy for the national government to order around. I mean, things are going to get worse, big time. That's true. It's very important the Republicans do a better job today of presenting what they stand for. And you're right. People right now are mad because they're paying so much for health care, mad because they're paying so much for housing. both of which, by the way, I think to a degree is Joe Biden's fault, but the Republicans have to try to address these issues. It's not going to be easy to address them overnight, okay? Healthcare is so expensive because they're doing so much in this country, and we will try to publicize that. More tests, more surgeries, and the more they do, the more they make. We've got to take away that incentive. But 100% of it, 100% of the subsidies are flowing into the pockets of the insurance companies. They're spending them, and then they're supposedly applying those subsidies to people who are using health care. They're vertically integrating their pharmacies, their pharmacy benefit managers, the insurance companies, and then they just rake in dollars and then plead poverty because they're nonprofits. But you're right. The game is getting rigged to capture as many federal dollars as possible. The more the government throws at it, the more cost. it is going to get just like college. That's why college keeps going up way beyond inflation, why health care goes up beyond inflation. And by the way, if we throw more affordable housing money and housing, housing is going to get more expensive because it already has proved to be the case, Glenn. The Republicans need to kind of get on the affordability train and not come up with platitudes, but actual solutions on ways that we can start to unrig the game. And don't promise.

1:36:46

miracles overnight like the Democrats do. No, it's going to be very difficult. One of our big problems with housing is there a shortage of, quite frankly, people who build homes, a shortage of electricians, a shortage of plumbers, shortage of carpenters. And that's one of the reasons why the cost of housing is going through the roof. But the other reason is you have way too much regulation, usually at the state and local level. I've talked to a lot of people, I don't want to give you their names, but a lot of people who build houses, who build apartments, and they all scream about... how over-regulated they are today compared to, say, 20 years ago, no comparison. Right. I mean, you look at local regulations, state regulations, zoning regulations, plan commission demands, you know, different levels of bureaucracy that you've got to go through. And at the same time, if you're someone who wants to do market rates, say apartment housing, you're competing against someone who's got a pile, a gigantic bag of government money. in the form of affordable housing grants, that that developer can then use to bid up the price of property that can make the market rate developer make it that much more challenging to offer something that at an entry level point is affordable for your average person. So there's all kinds of things we can do, but maybe we should start talking about it. And 50-year mortgages is not the answer to this problem. No, I think Donald Trump is working on things. He's working on very strong incentives or sticks. to get the local units of government to deregulate the price of housing. But it's not going to be something that's going to be done overnight, just as we're not going to train tens of thousands of new electricians or plumbers in this country overnight, which is, like I said, the other reason why the cost of housing has gone through the roof. I think one of the many reasons why I think there was several reasons why. You mentioned electricians and plumbers and construction people. We need those for all the AI data centers. Glenn, we've had this problem for, I don't know, 15 years. Maybe it's time to start incentivizing the development of these types of careers in the United States and stop incentivizing people to go for a four-year college degree where they come out dumber than when they went in with no marketable skills besides being able to recite the DEI mantras. Right. Anybody out there, you got kids, you got grandkids, and they're saying I'm going to college next year, say, wait a minute, Sonny.

1:39:11

Or wait a minute, Missy. Let's look and see what you plan on earning with that communications degree or that philosophy degree. And then you see how much money you'd be making if you are a plumber, if you are electrician. There you're going to have a lot more job security and make a lot more money. Well, here's one way Congress can help on that. By the way, Vicki. By the way. You know how much you make if you're a truck driver for Walmart? We'd find one of those a little better trucks for Walmart. No idea. Bicky, $140,000 a year, baby. Think about that before you go to college. Yeah, well, that's a lot better than, you know, slinging pizza. I will say one other thing Congress can do. Congress can get the government out of college lending. Get the government out of college lending. Say it's up to banks to provide lending for kids so that you're going to have to go to the bank and say, I think I want to be a general studies major. And the bank says, well, what are you going to do with that? You know, start to get some accountability in lending so that we're not inducing people to go waste a ton of our money, find themselves in deep debt and not have any marketable skills and then have to retrain themselves for something entirely different. Glenn, I am actually running out of time. I do appreciate the time. I must say I want to close with this. Shockingly good job by the Republicans on the shutdown. Shockingly good job. Absolutely. They acted like a well-oiled machine for the first time in their life. Exactly for the first time in my life. Thanks for jumping on the show, Glenn. Good to have you. That's it for me, and I'm darn near out of time. But Tom Tiffany is going to join me on the program tomorrow. And we're going to tap back into that creepy slime bag bill that is a giveaway to tribal lobbyists. It's one of the reasons why they want to do it so fast is because the tribes don't think Tom Tiffany would play ball if he were governor. So we'll talk with Congressman Tiffany about that on tomorrow's program. Meanwhile, have a great afternoon. We'll see you back here tomorrow.
