Still the number one story today is that the Epstein files are a little bit closer to being released. We know that President Trump has said that he is going to sign the law into effect. And that gives a... 30-day clock for the Department of Justice to release these files. Still not quite sure if there's a way for the Department of Justice to put a speed bump in front of that. There are some technical things that they could claim to withhold some of the documents. For example, if they are involved in an ongoing law enforcement investigation, they don't have to release them, but they're going to run up against some.

Pretty hot-headed members of Congress if they don't release everything. The Department of Justice has admitted that not every member of the grand jury in former FBI director James Comey's case saw the final version of the indictment. That could be what they refer to as a fatal error when it comes to this case. This admission of fault from the administration came toward the end of a hearing on James Comey's arguments that the case should be dismissed because... They say that he's a victim of selective and vindictive prosecution. The district judge in this case was asking the prosecutor some concerns about information that had been raised by two other judges about information that appear to be missing from the transcripts of the grand jury proceedings. The concern centered on two separate indictments that had been drafted. The first one. showed the grand jury indicted James Comey on two of three counts. They voted not to indict on one of them. And then a second one that had just the two counts that they were both indicted on, that they were both voted to indict him on, I should say. So he acknowledged that there was an edit to the first indictment. The judge then questioned Lindsey Halligan, a former personal lawyer to the president with no prior prosecutorial experience. She presented the case to the grand jury on her own just days after being appointed and said that there, oh yeah, there were people in the room. There was a four person and a grand juror. So because this thing was not reviewed by the entire grand jury, there is a potential for this thing to be completely thrown out. Current and former members of Gavin Newsom's administration among the dozens of insiders in Sacramento who received FBI letters in the last few days to notify them that they had been watched. that their phone calls, their texts, their other electronic communications had been intercepted as part of the federal corruption case tied to Dana Williamson and a couple of other longtime Democratic operatives. We've talked about it multiple times. These charges that Dana Williamson and some others were, among other things, skimming money off of what was a dormant account for Xavier Becerra's state campaign. Also accused of spending a million dollars on luxury handbags and travel and then illegally declaring those as business expenses on her tax returns. Locally, some awful news that is not a surprise to very many people. Singer David has been identified as a suspect in the death of a 15-year-old girl who was found dead in the vehicle that he owned back in September. He's not been charged with any crime as of yet, but sources have told both NBC and ABC here in town that he has not been cooperative and most likely had help dismembering and disposing the body of Celeste Rivas. They were found, the remains that was, that correct, the remains were found September 8th in the trunk of a car at an L.A. impound lot.

Car had been parked after was, sorry, towed after it had been parked for several weeks. So they said that she may have been deceased for several weeks before the discovery of the body. She was last reported missing from Lake Elsinore last year, last seen April of 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The most valuable company in the world is going to report earnings today after the markets close in a bit. And that has been caused for a relatively quiet day on Wall Street. It's not just the Nvidia earnings report that's coming out. But tomorrow, the government shutdown delayed jobs report from September is due to hit. So the couple of things that are going to define what the economy does for the next couple of months. As of right now, Dow Jay Jones Industrial average up and down, but not very much today. In fact, it's down about 42 points. So less than a tenth of a percent. It's down right now. S&P 500 is up just barely positive. NASDAQ is also barely positive as of right now. A quiet day on Wall Street as they get ready for. for what will be some important economic news. Last week, some news came out that the Shenzu 20 spacecraft, it's docked in China's Tangyang Space Station, had sustained some serious damage, probably because of space debris that knocked into it. It was meant to take a crew of three astronauts back to Earth on November 5th, but because of the tiny cracks in the viewport window. They actually had to use someone else's spacecraft, the Shenzhou 21 shuttle that had delivered their replacements to the station already. They landed in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region last week. So that leaves a whole new batch of astronauts in a pickle because that was going to be their ride home. And now we don't know what it is. The escape aircraft, in the case anything went wrong, instead immediately departed for Earth. So that means they are now technically stranded on board the space station without a usable spacecraft at their disposal. At this point... China says they are evaluating whether the spacecraft that's still up there, that Shenzu 20, that might be okay. They just have to do a few tests again. They are not certain that those tiny cracks in the viewport window are enough to say that that thing is going to burn up on reentry, but they don't necessarily want to take a chance as of yet. And the Department of Transportation... wants you to control your kids when you fly.

An undeniable rise in bad behavior on airplanes. The Department of Transportation announced a new campaign to encourage civility in air travel. It's a campaign called The Golden Age of Travel starts with you. It's meant to jumpstart a nationwide conversation about how we can all restore courtesy and class to air travel. We'll see how this goes over the Thanksgiving holiday, which will be the busiest air travel holiday, possibly in the history of the world. For example, things that the Transportation Secretary wants you to ask yourself next time you fly. Are you dressing with respect? Are you keeping control of your children and helping them through the airport? Are you saying thank you to your flight attendants? Are you helping a pregnant woman or the elderly with placing their bags in the overhead bin? All of these questions that they want you to ask yourself and then judge other people when they don't do the exact same thing. All right. Speaking of airports. There is a new article about the etiquette at airport bars. 15 definitive rules for the airport bar. Natalie Compton from Washington Post is going to join us and talk about her article. As I was saying, one of the stories out of D.C. today is the prosecution of former FBI director James Comey has hit a hurdle. The Justice Department acknowledged in court today a potential or a possible lapse in how the case was presented to the grand jury. The revelation was that it wasn't the full grand jury that reviewed a copy of the final indictment during a hearing where James Comey's lawyers were asking a judge to throw out the case on the grounds, the government's being vindictive. They said it was just the four-person and one other grand juror that saw that final indictment. And they admitted all of that. Congress is sending to President Trump a bill that's going to compel the Justice Department to make public its case files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. We're not quite sure when the president is expected to sign that. Overseas. A Russian drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Ternopol has killed at least 25 people, including three kids. That while there are rumors going around that there is some sort of a 28-point plan that President Trump has been working on a 28-point peace plan to end the war in Ukraine. Everybody's been to a bar at the airport for whatever reason. Your plane got delayed. You just showed up a little early. Maybe you need a pop or two to relax before you get on your five hour flight, whatever it is. But there are some very specific. potential guidelines, shall we say, when it comes to airport bar etiquette. Natalie Compton wrote a great piece in the Washington piece about Washington Post, I should say, about rules for the airport bar. And she joins us now. Natalie, thanks for taking time for us today. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. How often are you traveling? How often are you get to find yourself in an airport bar?

I find myself at an airport bar probably more than the average American, but far less than the average, you know, road warrior business man. But it's often enough to see a lot of airport bargoers in action and say, I think we need more rules. Listen, people can sign up for these rules or not, but they all seem to be pretty, what's the word? Pretty logical. And I love the first one, which is. Don't just go to the one that's closest to your gate necessarily, unless you're in a rush, you know, unless you're running tight on time. Find the one that you like the vibe. Mm-hmm. Right. If you are looking to lock in and catch up on a work email, it might not really matter what bar you're at. You might just want to go to the one that's closest to the gate. But if you're at a busy airport in a major metro area that has options, maybe there's one that suits your mood. If you want a slice of pizza and a chat with someone interesting. So, you know, do a lap. Don't just panic and choose the one that's closest to your gate. The thing that bothers me the absolute most is that everybody's got a carry on or a backpack or a big purse or something like that. And there's never a place, a good place to put it in some of these bars slash restaurants in the airports. I do think that the end of that sentiment is totally correct. It's not necessarily our fault that it can be awkward. Like they obviously designed these spaces knowing that travelers are going to have luggage. Why is there no good system for this? So it's up to us to be mindful of, can I smush my bag under my feet? That's going to make things awkward. But where can I put this where it'll be out of people's way is important? I also like the suggestion that you tell the bartender your timeline. I think we've all been in a situation where you know, you had a drink and you're waiting for that tab and it's not coming. And usually they'll at least offer it to you right away because they know that. But be honest with your bartender. They work in an airport. They know that everybody's on a deadline and they'll help you out as much as they can. These are... seasoned professionals who know the gamut of what people are dealing with. You could be somebody who has a five-hour layover and don't need to be rushed, don't need to be waited on really diligently, and you don't want somebody checking on you every five minutes. Or you're the person who's like, I'm terrified to get on this plane. I just need a shot to calm my nerves, and I've got to get out of here. So just give them a heads up because they're not mind readers. They have no idea what your schedule is. Don't overdo it, obviously, because that can be... I mean, we do stories all the time about people who are just hammered on these airplanes and make asses of themselves. But the flight crews can prevent you from boarding an airplane if they think you're drunk. Sure. Yes.

Absolutely, and they will. And that's, you know, usually for the health and safety of the rest of the flight, too. We have seen countless examples of people overdoing it. But I thought something that was funny with interviewing this woman who has been an airport bartender for years. She said she's definitely seen plenty of people who just straight up missed their flight because they are. drinking at the bar, sometimes it's not just because they got too drunk. It's because they get so lost in their work that they didn't notice. And maybe you have a couple drinks and you just time blurs. So yes, be diligent. Don't overdo it. You don't want to be an unruly passenger and you also just don't want to miss your flight. I have missed a flight. While sitting at an airport bar. Not because I was drunk and it was with my wife. We were just having a great conversation. We had dinner as well. And we're literally sitting across the terminal from the gate. We could watch the whole thing. And for some reason, I don't know why. We just. We just blanked and missed our flight. It was fine. It was like Dallas to Washington, D.C. So, I mean, there's a million of those a day. So we were fine. But I am guilty of that. But the moment you realize, oh, my God. How dumb can people be? And the thing is, up to that point in our lives, we probably made fun of people like that. And I will never do that. I will never do that again. You have a little more empathy in your heart now. Yeah. I absolutely do. The other thing that's great about these. airport bars, and I know that you point out that some of the better ones are not the larger chain ones or anything. It's the smaller ones that exist sort of in the middle, sort of that little middle island area of a terminal. I love the proliferation of these. They are like islands within the airport. I feel like you see them a lot at JFK has a lot of great ones. Sometimes you'll see them just in a straight middle of like a busy terminal right near the Bill Gates. And it's a good people watching spot. And it's not a deep cavernous restaurant where you really can lose track of time. You're still kind of. have your surroundings in mind and can watch, you know, the flight screens. But they often tend to be just bars, which I think can sometimes be a more pleasant drinking experience. If you're just, you know, the bartender is just focused on making a great martini or giving you a nice glass of wine and not like we got to serve people a big, huge meal. Yeah. All right. Not anywhere near as powerful as the storms we saw last weekend, but still, you know, half inch to an inch of rain in some of the valley locations, one to two inches, some of the mountains or the hills. Yesterday, this awful, awful story out of Orange County, Dana Point specifically, a 13-year-old boy. Luis Adrian Morales Pacheco died at a hospital after he was hit and apparently by a drunk driver while he was walking to school. And it was a hit and run crash right near the intersection of Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive. The 59-year-old driver, by the way, was arrested a couple of miles away from the crash. And the OCDA's office said that guy had been arrested and charged in a separate DUI incident three days before yesterday's accident and possibly has other DUI convictions on his record. Hold on a second. I got to take a drink of water.

We can't put it down. And really good acting, really good cinematography, and the writing's awesome. Highly, highly recommend. Love you guys. Thank you. Psychological Thriller is the way they say it. A miniseries for Netflix that stars Claire Danes and Matthew Reese. Matthew Reese is absolutely spectacular. If you remember him from the Americans, he was also in that reboot of Perry Mason, a couple seasons of that. But Claire Daines plays Aggie Wiggs, an author who struggles to write her next book. And Matthew Reese is the son of a real estate guy who moves next door to Aggie's house to hide out with his second wife because he allegedly killed his first wife. Brittany Snow is in this as well as the second wife. Natalie Morales is in there as Aggie's ex-wife, who is an abstract painter. This has been getting incredible reviews on Netflix. It's already a top Netflix's TV list as it tallied up 6.9 million views in just the first four days. So that is pretty amazing. 6.9 million views in just the first four days. It's called The Beast in Me. There's also, if I'm not mistaken, a movie that's coming out of that same name. The Beast to be with Russell Crow. Let me see if I had that right. Yeah. Upcoming sports action film in mixed martial arts. Russell Crow, Luke Hemsworth. That's quite a different thing. Next on the top 10 list. Witcher, Season 4, that took the number two spot for Netflix. Next on the list, Absentia is number three. Stranger Things Season 1 is being rewatched by a bunch of people getting ready for the next installment. The upcoming release boosted Stranger Things, too, also into the top 10. Yeah, death by lightning, which we talked about before in a true crime Tuesday, as a matter of fact, because it's about the assassination of President Garfield. Squid Game, the Challenge, season two, is on there. And then on the film side, you have Frankenstein. I forgot that Frankenstein was out on Netflix. But it has gotten 29.1 to 33.8 million views in its first full week and second week overall. So it's doing better. Far out, shadowed a merry little X-mas, which was, of course, their number one holiday movie, even though it's not quite. It's a little too early for some of those. But if you can believe this, K-pop Demon Hunters is now the 22nd week that K-pop Demon Hunters has been in the top 10 list for movies on Netflix. It's the number three this week. Still.

In Your Dreams came in next, and then being Eddie, the Eddie Murphy documentary, came in as number four with 5.7 million views already. I started watching the Gilded Age about four days ago, and I was so addicted that I couldn't do anything but eating, sleep, and get back to it. I've made it through the three seasons, and now I'm upset because it's over. Oh, no. Now what am I going to do? Guilded Age. All right. When we come back, I'll tell you about the movie that I'm most excited about coming up in a couple of months. There's a new trailer out for it today. I have some problems with. But also, Billy Bob Thornton comes back. They're calling the season two, episode one of Landman, probably the best premiere for any Taylor Sheridan show we've seen anytime recently. What you watch on Wednesday continues. You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640. So the Taylor Sheridan show Landman just debuted episode one of the second season. And this is about Billy Bob Thornton. He plays sort of a fixer, if you will, sorts out the problems between oil workers and the owners of the massive oil company that he works for. And in episode or season one, of course, it is. John Hamm and Demi Moore, this married couple billionaires that own this oil company. However, spoiler alert, John Hamm doesn't make it through the end of season one. So now you've got Demi Moore as the matriarch of this huge oil conglomerate and Billy Bob Thornton as sort of her right-hand man consigliary, however you want to describe it. Part of what makes the show as great as it is, this landman show, is the writing. and specifically the writing for Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy Norris. He says at the very top and a very dry, clearly one of those guys who is, who is wise. beyond what you might expect based on his attitude and his language or his clothing, whatever it is. But he's wise. And he says at the very top of the show, there's Kellogg's General Mills and whoever makes those s-y little waffles. And he said, well, people who tell us that breakfast is the most important meal of the day are the sons of bees that make the stuff. And it's this cranky but intelligent attitude that makes Billy Bob Thornton's character so watchable. His son is involved. His son wants to be an oil man. So he starts drilling on his own. That comes up in the first episode. But also he's got a wife and daughter. The wife played by Ali Larder and the daughter that is played by Michelle Randolph, daughter Ainsley. And...

One of the criticisms of Taylor Sheridan is he doesn't know how to write characters that happen to be female. He does fine with the Demi Moore stuff. He does fine with this woman in power. But the others just, they kind of feel like eye candy for Taylor Sheridan. In this case, they're actually going to send Ainsley off to college is what it looks like. So she doesn't just have to walk around in a bikini and prompt awkward conversations. with some of her dad's co-workers. Allie Larder is fabulous in the show as Tommy Norris, Billy Bob Thornton's wife, and does a great job with it. Just because she's funny. She's obviously beautiful, but she's funny. And then you introduce Sam Elliott into all this. Like I said, they got rid of John Hamm and they bring in Sam Elliott. After the first episode, you still don't know exactly who Sam Elliott is in relation to everybody else. But that is perfectly fine because you're going to want to watch it. It is one of those on Paramount TV or Paramount Plus, I should say. That's going to come out. They're going to release episodes every Sunday. So now through probably mid-January, if not later than that, is when you're going to see new episodes of Landman season two every Sunday night. So the other thing that's coming out that I'm excited about, at least for the next couple of months, is the... movie Project Hail Mary. And we talked about it before. I read the book by Andy Weir. He's the guy who wrote The Martian. And this is another space movie. So there is that aspect. If you're not into that, you're not going to enjoy this. Very well research, very well written, very funny at times. And the movie trailer that's out, the second trailer just came out, includes Ryan Gosling as the main scientist in there. Ryland Grace, I think his name is. And the whole, not spoiling anything, because it happens relatively early in the story, he meets an alien life form. And what you don't want to see. Is the alien life form until you go see the movie. And I'm surprised that they have given us as much visuals or as many visuals of this alien's being as they did. Because part of what was great about the book itself was that it told the story about his. you know, discovery of this alien life form. I mean, there's a funny line in the trailer where he gets to say to sort of a video diary, oh, well, oh, by the way, I met an alien today. But it just seemed like they shouldn't have, shouldn't have put that out there. There's another kill bill moving coming out in December. So just a couple of weeks called kill bill, the whole bloody affair. It's basically the complete kill bill. film. The original is broken up into two parts for the original release. This assembly combines the two versions with a few twists and turns in it to convey the whole mashup of the original version. Also that weekend, five nights at Freddy's two, that I guess you'd say suspense kind of horror movie. Avatar Fire and Ash, and I've got to be honest, I have zero desire to see any of the Avatar movies. I saw the first one. I don't know why it didn't hit for me, but it just doesn't work.

Is this thing on? This is going to be interesting. Bradley Cooper directing is this thing on. A feeling of a step back from a Star is Born or Maestro, which he directed as well. This is Will Arnett as a man who undertakes stand-up comedy as a way to get past his impending divorce. That's coming up. Anaconda, a reboot of that one. Marty Supreme with Timothy Shalam. Al-A. May is coming up next month as well. So all those still in the... in the future when it comes to movies that you can go watch. So, all right, tomorrow. Some strange science stuff.
