There is some small but important developments when it comes to the case of Nancy Guthrie. Savannah Guthrie's mom. has been missing for almost four weeks now, three and a half weeks. And the video that was posted today on Instagram shows Savannah Guthrie explaining that they are also putting up reward money. We need her to come home. For that reason, we are offering a family reward of up to $1 million. for any information that leads us to her recovery. All of the information about this reward and the details is in the caption below. You can call the 1-800 tip line. You can be anonymous if you want. Someone out there knows something that can bring her home. Somebody knows. And we are begging you to please come forward now. The other piece of information that came out today was there is another video that exists, apparently from Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera, that shows somebody. The belief is that it's the same guy that appears in the video that was released by the FBI. But it shows a guy without a backpack this time, but same mask, jacket, gloves. approaching her front door. And all we know at this point is, it's not the same day that Nancy Guthrie was abducted. Source is familiar with the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie tell ABC News. The masked man suspected of abducting the 84-year-old grandmother appeared at her front door sometime before the night she was taken. Among the images released by the FBI earlier this month's one, showing the suspect without a backpack. Sources now tell ABC News that image was captured on Guthrie's Nest camera on a date prior to February 1st when she was abducted. That's ABC's Aaron Kuttersky there with that report. Now, one theory, according to ABC News, is that... In that earlier video, the one without the backpack, the suspect actually approached the door for the first time, but noticed that there was a doorbell camera and was scared off.

Only to come back later with a backpack for some reason. And that's when you saw him obscuring the camera with his hand and then trying to put flowers or pieces of the plant over it. Others have been speculating that this is not even the same guy. That this is separate from the suspect who blocked the camera, which... If that's the case, that's almost a more frightening look at it simply because that means there's two people that wanted to take or that they were working in tandem and that there is a team of people, even if it's a team of two, a team of people that went in to take Nancy Guthrie. So far, no suspect linked to the disappearance. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has confirmed it is aware of the doorbell images that do depict a suspect in what they referred to as different stages of attire, including with and without the backpack. But the sheriff's department said there was no date or timestamp associated with the backpackless images. So they believe it was before, but they don't know if it's hours before, days before. when it comes to the information and what it's there. So there's been a couple of people. I saw an interview today with the Cajun Navy. Do you remember those guys? They gained prominence, notoriety, if you will, after Hurricane Katrina, and their ability to volunteer, swamp boats and everything to go after and try to find people that were caught in the flooding or trapped. They actually have a guy on the ground there in Tucson, Arizona, to see if they might be able to help out law enforcement with just boots on the ground, just people, volunteers to help in the search. Other people have taken things into their own hands. And there was a group that said they found a Swiss gear brand backpack in a storm drain that doubles as a homeless encampment near Nancy Guthrie's house. At this point, the Sheriff's Department says there's no connection, ruled out as any sort of evidence in this case. But people are getting frustrated with all of this. I like to call him, our friend. News Nation's senior national security correspondent, Lieutenant General Richard Newton once again about what's going on in Mexico. And is this going to get worse before it gets any better? You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI AM 640. Mexico's most wanted cartel boss, El Mencho. The head of the Halisco New Generation cartel died Sunday in a Mexican military operation to get him. In the town of Tapalpas, out near Guadalajara, the Halisco cartel then responded with severe violence. 20 of 32 Mexican states saw some sort of violence. And now... With 30,000 cartel operatives on the streets in different places, Portoviard has really been getting the concentration of a lot of this. The question is, is this going to die down anytime soon or is it going to get worse before it gets better? Yesterday, we talked with News Nation's senior national security correspondent, Lieutenant General Richard Newton. I didn't do enough to anger him, so he's back today. In general, thanks for taking time for us again. Hey, Gary, good morning. Good to be with you. And this is a major issue and it's still developing. Talk about the relationship militarily between the United States and Mexico. At this point, I understand that President Trump has offered military assistance, if necessary, has even suggested American military involvement in this. But at this point, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has said no so far. So far, but first off, this is put into context. This is in my view the most significant blow that Mexico has struck against criminal groups. in Mexico is certainly within the drug cartel community writ large. So that's that's that's to be underscored and hats off by the way to the Mexican government led by President Shane Bonn. Now the United States has provided and frankly the impetus that the Trump administration came in a year or so ago by designating these Mexican drug cartels as you know to include the Holisco drug cartel. as foreign terrorist organizations. And we have set up a joint interagency task force counter cartels led by the commander of U.S. Northern Command, who is in a very solid synchronization and support of the Mexican defense minister, which really led to, certainly with U.S. intelligence support, this major drug take down on Sunday. So there's ongoing U.S. military efforts already. Now, whether or not there's going to be boots on the ground or other aspects of this, I don't believe so at this point because of, frankly, what the shame bomb administration has done thus far, at great risk and peril, by the way, to rid ourselves and ourselves being in the United States here because the influence of these drug cartels in the United States is a major move here. But no boots on the ground in my foreseeable future.

The general public is probably pretty blissfully ignorant of what it takes to keep the Western Hemisphere calm in terms of military activity and military intelligence that we, the United States, are involved with. Do you believe that there has been any sort of actual kinetic activity taken against cartels by the American military, or at this point, is it just at that intelligence level? I believe it's just at that intelligence level. However, let's go back to December of last year when President Trump published his national security strategy that sets the tone, sets the policy for the next three or four years, absolutely critical years in my estimation with regard to U.S. national security writ large around the world. But he's put an emphasis and a focus on... the U.S. national security aims and objectives in protecting the American people here in our own Western hemisphere. And part of that is to defeat, not dissuade, not deter, but to defeat these Mexican drug cartels that are killing Americans. The largest amount of deaths coming from drugs outside the United States is fentanyl produced by Mexico. However, also enabled by China providing the precursor. chemicals to make these these drugs that are killing Americans. And so from that standpoint, boy, a long answer to a short question. We haven't used kinetic capabilities yet, but if you go back to that national security strategy, we reserve the right to protect the American people and the President of the United States as commander chief. They'll use all implements of U.S. national power to do so. We don't need to be using kinetic capabilities in this time. But let's see what the future looks like. But this is a good start as of Sunday. And I believe the American people are just a little bit safer than they were on Saturday. Let's take it from a national level down to an individual or family level. It seems like a lot of people here in Southern California know somebody who is in Puerto Vallarta right now that is currently stuck there waiting for travel plans to materialize to get out of there. If you had family there or if you were there yourself, what would be your... day-to-day hour-to-hour activity waiting for this to kind of calm down so you could get out Well, first and foremost, Gary, I would be listening hour by hour to the U.S. Embassy proclamations and advisements to continue to hunker in place if that is indeed what their guidance is. I haven't been engaged with or seen the sources of the last six hours or so, but let's assume that the U.S. Embassy for our citizens in the Puerto Verra area and also western part of Mexico, for that matter, to continue to shelter in place. I would adhere to that. However, I would also be making very best I can plans, specifically air travel, not by land, but air travel, to exit out of that part of Mexico as soon as possible, as soon as safety dictates.

The third aspect of this is I would keep a good communication plan together and stay engaged with my loved ones. In this case, if they're in Southern California or even down here in the southeast part of the United States and South Florida where Gigi and I are, I would make those communication plans and keep my loved ones informed not necessarily hour by hour, but throughout the day if you follow my thought there. So the things that we can do is American citizens who are stranded there, but. I would also offer up. My final point here is if things get really dicey for American citizens, if there are threats, and there are not any threats on the horizons to the American citizens other than what they're seeing in the streets right now. But if there's direct threats to them, I guarantee you the Trump administration and the United States will act, but not at this point right now. Follow U.S. Embassy protocols. follow their advisements, and stick to a communication plan and get that air travel secured as soon as you can. A record setting snowstorm back east that caused thousands of flight delays also prompted the managers of the Boston Globe newspaper to call off printing their newspaper for the first time ever. The Boston Globe was not printed today. Snow and winds prevented the staff from getting to the printing plant this morning. The newspaper said in an article on their website. Parts of Bristol County in Massachusetts where the printing press is located had 32 inches of snow in just one day. Locally, Warner Brothers Discovery says it's received a higher takeover offer from Paramount. We'll review the new bid under the terms of its existing deal with Netflix last week. It was Warner Brothers that announced it was going to try to re-engage Paramount in a deal under a seven-day waiver that they got from Netflix. So Warner Brothers and Netflix have an agreement to sell the group's studio and streaming business to Netflix, but Paramount is trying to buy the entirety. of Warner Brothers. So still to be determined. Now, President Trump gives his State of the Union address tonight. You will hear it live right here on KFI. Just after 6 o'clock is when it's going to start. Of course, we'll start our live coverage during the news there at 6 o'clock and Conway's show. And then Abigail Spanberger, the new governor of Virginia, she's going to be giving the Democrat response a short time after the president wraps up. And by the way, President Trump has already said, He is going to go long. He holds the record. I think an hour and 39 minutes and change was one of his previous states of the unions, states of the union. And he's expecting they'll probably go longer than that. It's a campaign speech, make no bones about it. This is going to lay out some of the themes that Republicans are going to run on when it gets to the midterms coming up in November. And there are plenty of victories that Trump is going to point to. There are plenty of things that he's going to say that probably are not entirely true. We've seen that before in some of the states of the union. But we do know, oh, and I love the man, where did it go? Oh, the Kalshi market about words that the president is going to say that you can actually put money on now. So. There's a 92% chance right now that he says the word Biden or Maduro. Marco Rubio is up there. Dell is on there. Pete Hegseth, Kash Patel, Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi. All of those are up there. Also, 250. The word trillion, the word Olympics or World Cup. I mean, all of those are on there on this prediction market that exists now online. The... Background of all of this is that we're still under a partial government shutdown. And part of the Department of Homeland Security is not working because...

communication can be tough for somebody of a certain age. For example, she said that she was on a train one day and a stranger in her 70s approached and said, you mind if I sit here or do you want to be alone with your thoughts and said, no, no, no, of course. Sit down. Sit down. And they carried out a nice conversation and talked about where this person came from, home country, you know, their process of emigrating to the UK, etc. And... She said that her 15-year-old had asked her, is it okay to talk to somebody like that, to ask about, you know, where they're from? The woman was from Korea. And the mom was like, yeah, that's people are, people like to know that you're interested in where they're from. And if they don't want to talk about it, then they won't talk about it. But it was a good question. How do you know what are the limits when it comes to a conversation with a stranger? And everybody's probably got some great story. If you're over a certain age, I should say, you have a good story about meeting a stranger and hitting it off right away and having a great conversation, whatever it is. Stuck in a bus station on an airplane at a baseball game, somewhere that you've got a story. Mine happens to be out of flying from Vancouver, B.C., back to L.A. after a fishing trip. And I was flying standby, so I just happened to get on an airplane last minute, last seat available. And I sat next to this couple, this older married couple, probably in their 70s. And it turned out that they live in South L.A. and they had this whole conversation about why they were in Vancouver, B.C., and they'd been married. This was their second marriage. I mean, it was just a fun conversation for the two-hour, two-hour flight or whatever it was. That sticks out in my mind because I did not want to talk to anybody. I just wanted to get on the airplane and go home because I was tired, been fishing for three or four days and it was ready for, I was ready to go home. But it turned out to be a great conversation with them. A lot of the people, especially today, If you're under the age of 40, chances are you spend a lot of time with AirPods in or other headphones that you don't necessarily want to talk to people. And just one of those exercises that perhaps goes by the wayside quite a bit. All right, how's this?
