Time for What's Happening? The good local news, the fire is out at Boyle Heights. The LA Fire Department says that they have officially knocked down that warehouse fire in Boyle Heights. The flames are no longer at risk of spreading. Apparently there are a few places that are smoldering, but they have used drones to go in and check it out. They say there's no open flames anymore. Karen Bass was there fighting the flames through the night. Oh, that's great. Yeah. The LA Unified School District has removed the interim tag and has named Andres Chait, I believe is how you say his name, the next superintendent to take over, of course, just after Alberto Carvalo officially resigned as the superintendent. Speaking of fire, day two of jury deliberations and the trial of the guy who started that initial fire there, jurors spent about seven hours deliberating the fire in Palisades. That should be more clear. Jurors spent about seven hours deliberating yesterday without reaching a verdict. At one point, they asked the judge to view an exhibit list, but the request was denied. jurors returned to the courthouse this morning. We don't know if they're close to a decision. Of course, this is the guy Rindernecht, former Uber driver, one time Palisades resident, accused of starting the Lachman fire on New Year's Eve. That was the one that continued to smolder underground for about a week, even after L.A. firefighters. believed it had been extinguished. The flames reignite January 7th, erupting into that massive Palisades fire that killed 12 people. Earthquakes generated headlines around the world. A couple of earthquakes, a 7.2 and a 7.5 that hit Venezuela. There was a 7.2 that also hit Japan. but didn't receive any headlines simply because it didn't cause any damage. And then a 5.6 we told you about early yesterday morning up in northern California. When we get into Swamp Watch, we'll talk about. the U.S. government's response to what's going on in Venezuela as well. Fanzone in downtown L.A. is going to be a lot of fun today. The U.S. Geological Survey had suggested that we could see deaths reach six figures when all is said and done. About a 40% chance, as a matter of fact, that the death toll could climb to at least 10,000, 30% chance that it would even top 100,000. As we mentioned, the death toll right now is very low. The president, Delci Rodriguez of Venezuela, has said that the numbers that we have, I think 188 was a number I saw a few minutes ago, does not include the hardest hit region in Venezuela. Did you hear Marco Rubio get questioned about his relationship with JD Vance? I heard it this morning. It was something to the effect of the question being, you know, how far apart are you two or your difference of opinion? And Marco Rubio's answer was on what issue? As opposed to it obviously being about Iran and about the deal. But yeah, I don't get the vibe that there's a lot of love between those two. per our conversation yesterday. Yeah, because I think it would behoove the Republican Party to mend whatever fence exists between those two guys and run them together. It feels to me like you cover a lot of bases. They're both very smart. They both bring their own skill sets to them. And maybe they will. I doubt it because they've been pitted against each other and competing because that's what. That's what Donald Trump does. That's what he's always done. But anyway, it's obvious now. It's obvious now that those two, I don't know if they get along, but they've clearly been pitted against each other. Now, apparently the Senate Republicans Weekly lunch got a little contentious yesterday, shall we say. One source described it as a total cluster F. The president met with John Thune, Senate Majority Leader and his Republican colleagues yesterday to discuss disagreements on policies related to the Iran War and the election integrity bill known as the Save America Act. Apparently, the tensions reached a boiling point after Trump canceled the signing of a major bipartisan housing bill just moments before the lunch.

The lunch quickly escalated, apparently, after Republican Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, who is serving his last term, unloaded on the president for the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. A person familiar with the conversation said that Bill Cassidy went nuts over Iran and the two got into a shouting match. Trump reportedly told Bill Cassidy he was a lunatic and to sit down. Bill Cassidy referred to Trump as his brother at one point. Trump said, I'm not your brother. The way that Rand Paul, by the way, who also disagrees with the president in many cases and in the first vote, voted against... or voted, I should say, with Democrats. When he was asked about the lunch, he came out and said, oh, lots of unity, lots of Republican love on Republican love, sarcastically, of course. Well, you can take your gun to a supermarket in California. The Supreme Court, a couple decisions that came out. My afternoon just got a lot more exciting. Wolford versus Lopez. They ruled 6 to 3. Hawaii cannot generally ban licensed concealed carry holders from carrying a firearm on private property that's open to the public. Think grocery store. Unless the owner gives express permission. I found that law violates the second amendment. That was a 6 to 3 decision. A couple others. One of them, Mullen versus Doe. The court ruled 6 to 3. that the federal government may turn away migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border before they come into the country and apply for asylum. And then a seven to two ruling, unusual seven to two ruling in this court, that the federal pesticide labeling law preempts state law failure to warn claims against Roundup, of course, which was kind of a blow to the Trump administration, specifically the Maha movement that has been trying to get Roundup. out of our food supply. And one of the ways that they thought they would do that is if this lawsuit went through. But at this point, these lawsuits against Bayer, Monsanto, the owners of Roundup, should have added a cancer warning so that limits those lawsuits. Pete Buttigieg is talking about running in 2028. I just brought that up so that you could play that. Oh, I didn't even have it ready. Oh, that's... That's okay. Yeah. I don't know why I like that so much. Yes. You play it one more time. We mentioned the World Cup game today, a match, I should say. Tonight for Team USA they take on Turkey. The game actually doesn't mean anything. It's still going to be fun to watch, but Team USA is already in the round of 32, and I don't think Turkey, Turkey, even though they've changed their name, I don't think they've won a game yet. They're at so far 7 o'clock tonight. For some reason, this keeps popping up, and I don't know why now, but this... tense moment between Clay Aiken and Kelly Rippa from the show in 2006. Clay Aiken apparently maybe he's got a book out or something. He has been doing interviews and he reflected on this tense moment with Kelly Rippa calling it a catastrophic experience. There was fallout. There were public discussions about his sexuality before he came out publicly a couple years after this. Apparently he and Kelly Urippa have never addressed the incident despite crossing paths over the years. I had to look up what was this tense moment. Apparently, back in 2006, Clay Aiken from American Idol appeared on the live with K. Regis and Kelly show back in the day when it was live with Regis and Kelly in 2006. Apparently, at one point when he's filling in for Regis, he put his hand over her mouth to keep her from talking after she asked their guests a series of questions without allowing him to chime in. At the time, Clay Aiken said, is that a no, no? And she apparently said, oh, that's a no, no, no. Before adding, I don't know where that hand's been, honey. Because you're sort of an expert. You let me know whenever. Let me ask you this. What point did you realize there might be a chance that you could win this competition? That must have been. No, no. I don't want to trouble. I should just sit. No, I just don't. I don't know where that hand's been, honey. That's uncomfortable laughter. The next week, Regis returns to the show, and Kelly Rippa called out Clay Aiken for his hostility and impropriety. She said at the time, there was a lack of respect. And when you're a certain person, you're in the public eye, you have to be respectful of other people. And I don't think that he was respectful in any way. If that upsets his fans, I'm sorry to hear that, but you don't put your hands over somebody's face and mouth when they're conducting an interview, even if it's for a laugh. That's all I'm going to say. Ooh. There's also, there's, uh... And then, and then Rosie O'Donnell on the views said that Kelly Rippa was homophobic. Because she made a crack about where that hand has been? I have no idea. You would say the same thing about my hand if I put it over your face. You're absolutely right. I'd say I have no idea where that hand has been. Gay or straight, it doesn't matter.

I don't remember that at all. But he said it was a huge, I don't either. It seems like we would know about this. Because at the time, you were on the morning show. This may have been a much more male thing. But did you ever read Rich Dad, Poor Dad? No. It was about investment, how to teach your kids early on and how to basically safeguard their investments early on by getting into real estate. Yeah, I just called Trajan Wealth. The smarter. That's a smarter way to do it because that way you don't have to read. Right. But it was a general, the ability, like the idea of true wealth is passive income. You don't have to go to work. You just get a check in your mailbox all the time. In Hollywood, that is a syndication deal of 100 episodes, right? You make a sitcom, there's 100 episodes. You're making money for the rest of your life. You're fine. And that was kind of the... model that a lot of people wanted to go through. But there is a thing where... Like most people, you'd love to be able to generate income without doing the actual work. In the Wall Street Journal, they talk about a guy named Greg Keough, hated commuting, hated getting dressed to go to the office, hated feeling depleted at the end of the workday. So he actually had a conversation with a dog owner, was excited to have found a bigger than normal lint roller. A what? Just such a weird thing. It clicks something in Greg's mind where he designs one that's nearly as wide as a paper towel roll and throws it up on Amazon. Again, a lint roller. But it's not the four-inch lint roller that you're going to get on your sweater or your jacket or something like that. He made this thing massive. He said he could have tried to build a lint roller empire, but instead, seven years later, he works on this lint roller empire.
