Monday morning, April 27, I'm putting my paperwork together here. You know why I'm always losing my stories constantly? Because I lose my stories constantly. I just happen to do that. People think that it's a joke, that I don't, I can't keep the paperwork together on the show. I can't keep the paperwork together. You literally can ask what? We don't think it's a joke anymore. Yeah, I mean, it's true. You can ask, well, anybody who's ever worked for me, I mean, honest, this is true. When I was asked to sign a document, whoever came into the office, my office, would have to hold the corner of the document while I was signing. Could not let it go. Oh, you know how many times I've been put on handle watch when you had a document? Your old partner, Karen, would call me and say, can you make sure that you take this to him, walk it to his car? At least it'll be in his car. Yeah, pretty much. Okay, fair enough. Let me see what's going on. It looks like I have a Shiner. It is. I don't know if you look to social media with my eyeball. I took a little spill. And it's actually, if you really look at my eye, too embarrassed to say I got into it with Lindsay and she won the fight. You didn't have to say that. We would have guessed that anyways. You realize nitrates and Viagra don't mix. Yeah, that's true. Yes. And the other thing, it looks like I broke my toe too. You know, I tried to kick her and she moved and I ended up kicking the bathtub. Bad news. She's quick like a bunny. Which toe did you do you bust? Is it all purple? It's so purple. And it hurts like a mother. Yeah, it hurts. It hurts. I don't think it's that bad. It was the big toe on the right foot. Oh, big toe. And your ribs? How are your ribs? Soar. Yeah. Yeah, sore. I mean, I took a little bit of a hit. There's no question about it. So I don't know. Is the picture up on social? Yes, I saw it this morning. Okay. Go to... Did Lindsay post that? Who posted that? I think she... Lindsay posted it. At Bill Handel Show. And you can see the Shiner. I'm looking at myself through the camera. It is a pretty good Shiner, isn't it? Was she a military doctor or something? Because she stitched you up pretty good. Actually, she didn't. I went to the hospital and went to urgent care and they glued it shut. Yeah. Super glue. Yeah, they use super glue and it was pretty good. And it's exactly the same super glue that we buy in the store. It's under sanitary or sterile. You know, they make it a little bit, they're more careful about it. It's cyanide. Cyanoacrolade is what it is. Oh, really? I didn't know that. That's what they call it. Okay. You look like you're stoned.
Right now? No, in the picture. Oh, yeah, I'm sure I do. Okay, in any case, and I wasn't. So good morning, Neil, good morning, Amy. Good you have you back. Good morning. Good morning. Yeah, that was the way I was going on Friday, because this happened Thursday night, and I was not very, it was not a very pleasant Friday morning. Then, Kono, good morning. Happy Babe Ruth day. Oh, is it Babe Ruth day? Yeah. Okay, all right. I'm going to eat one. Yeah, there you go. And then there was the Babe Ruth bar named Baby Ruth, baby bar. Yeah, it was named after Babe Ruth, who they all knows. And, Ann, good morning, Ann. Good morning, Bill. Happy to have you back. Yes, it's wonderful to have me back. Yes, because I had a great time in the urgent care. facility. I went to Hogue, actually, just down the street, which was pretty neat. I really, really was impressed with Hogue. There's a Hogue just down the street from my house. Wow, who would have thought that we have great medical services here in these United States? Actually, it was terrific. Actually, it was terrific. You never would have thought there was a problem with our medical system. Oh, before we get into the news, a quick word about what's happening on Thursday, Thursday night. I'm inviting you to join me and Lynn's. And we're going to be at the White House, the Anaheim White House restaurant. And there's going to be a wine dinner hosted by Antinori winery, very high-end winery. And it's going to be just the whole thing is going to be a wine dinner, you know, course by course. And it's $150 per person, which for this quality, I mean, this is a high, high-end stuff. Plus tax and gratuity. You can join us. and you'll see me. And I am really going to drink some very, very high-end Diet Coke, far more selected than I usually do. Good stuff. Yeah, the good stuff, yes. But everybody else will be drinking the wine. So anyway, if you like to join us, the number is 714-772-1381, or just go to Anaheimwhitehouse.com. That's where you want to go. Anaheimwhitehouse.com, make a reservation. We'll see you there. On Thursday, it's $150 per person if you want to sit down. We're going to a special area where we're going to sit. It's $200 per person if you don't want to sit anywhere near me. So it's going to be. The price goes up the fur do you get from you? That's correct.
I'll take the anti-handle package where I'm actually at the McDonald's down the street. Yeah, absolutely. So anyway, I'd like to see you there. And if you've ever eaten at Anaheim White House, man, are you in for a treat? Especially when you have a curated wine dinner by one of the best wineries out there. It's going to be a very special night. And that's Thursday night if you like to join us. Start to 7 o'clock and then we're going to be eating for a while. Anaheim Whitehouse.com. Okay. I can't think of anything else going on. Let me see, end of the month, April. God, are we already into May? Didn't it just, didn't it just, I mean, it's just zips by so quickly these days. Just, it just seems like yesterday was April 26. It is, it is going at an incredibly rapid rate right now because I feel like we're going to hit summer in no time. We are, and it's going to be interesting weather to say the least. All right, guys, ready to do it. It's time for handle on the news. Amy, Neil and me. Lead story. You can't touch this. Well, we're talking about that suspected gunman a whole lot. Cole Thomas Allen, who rudely interrupted the White House correspondent's dinner by trying to break in. Well, if we think trying to break into the ballroom. And he was actually couldn't get near the perimeter because, well, got near one perimeter. But they stopped him cold. I mean, they did exactly what they wanted to do or they should have done. Frankly, I don't think it's that big a deal because there are crazy people out there constantly. And the Secret Service is right on top of it. I mean, with security these days. Yeah, but the fact that one was actually shot, even though he had a bulletproof vest on or the officer. One one Secret Service guy or one officer was shot. Yeah, that's a little scary. But keep in mind, anybody can buy a gun, anybody. This guy, Alan, checked into the hotel. People do not go through magnometers, magnometers when going through a hotel. And your baggage is not searched when you're checking into the hotel. So it's easy access to get into the lobby. And he never got near the doors. But he had to fly with weaponry, which you can do if you check it. But he took a train. Ah. He bought the guns, allegedly, bought the guns here in California and then took a train across country. Up to Chicago and then down to D.C. So frankly, to me... Actually, in Chicago, they make sure you have guns when you end. Yes. To me, to me, the story is not that huge a deal because security was there. It did exactly what it should have done. This was the first layer of security. There are plenty more that we don't even know about.
What I find interesting with this story is all of a sudden on the internet, what has exploded is this is an inside job. Oh, yeah. That's everywhere. This is, yes. Oh, yeah, that it was all planned. It was all planned. I don't know anybody who thinks that way. And also, Lindsay, think absolutely. I am very suspicious about all three of the attempts. None of them are real attempts by real people wanting to kill the president. It's all people within the presidential. Sorry. Oh, my gosh. I missed the days when only the far right was. I know. Come on. There's no mark at all. You know the confusion. You know what? You know, that's a good idea. Let's get a picture of his ear, a closer picture of the ear and see if there's any kind. There's none. There's none. Are you sure? I am positive. Nothing. All right. I want to look at that. Okay. I want to look at that. Truth is out there, man. I know. The truth is out there. I'll tell you the biggest confusion bill was that Kash Patel kept yelling shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, shot, shots. And people thought it was about the gun, but he was just drinking. Did you hear the part about jumping in on that? He's like, tequila! Kash Patel was. intentionally not targeted apparently. Right. Yes. As a matter of fact, in the manifesto, it said, and not Kash Patel as a target. You're absolutely right, which is kind of interesting. He felt sorry for him with that eye and all. You're talking about me? No. With my eye? Okay. I'm misunderstanding. When you don't talk about me, it's always about me. I always conflate everything about me. Oh, Cash, that's that funky eye. Oh, in general, he's got that lazy eye. Do you know what I saw online the other day as someone called him mortgage eyes? And I'm like, what does that mean? And then they then they stated because one is fixed and one is variable. That's rough. Mortgage eyes. That's pretty good, actually. Look who's not talking. Iran says it will end the chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz if the U.S. stops blockading Iran and ends the war. That's Iran's new proposal to the U.S. Iran's foreign minister made a brief return to Islamabad Sunday as Pakistan's leaders are trying to revive peace talks between Tehran and Washington, although President Trump said discussions could instead take place over the phone. Now, Didn't he say that Iran is, they've called the White House and they're desperate for some kind of a deal. Didn't he say that last week? And then Iran pointed out they don't even have telephones. There's, we're getting two different stories. Every time the president says A, Iran says B. Nope, that's not happening. And we don't even know who the leaders are. It could have been a prank call. Could have been. And the president says we don't know, we don't even know who we're talking to. Now, those in the nose say that that leadership is in place.
I mean, they prepared for it. The Revolutionary Guard is right there controlling the country more so than it ever has. And so, you know, we're getting obviously two very different stories here. And the two sides are very, very apart. And the blockade continues. The blockade on both parts. Straight of Hormuz completely blockaded in by... the Iranians and then the U.S. is blockading the Iranian ports. Any ship going in or out of Iranian well. They're just not letting it happen. No ship leaves Iranian ports. No ship goes to an Iranian port to unload. So it's all at a stall. All right, Trump never misses a beat to use any event, any circumstance to promote what he wants to promote. And in this case, it's the security that would come with the White House ballroom that has faced a bunch of legal challenges, threatened to shut down the project, of course. And he says that this shooting wouldn't have happened if he had his military grade. 90,000 square foot ballroom that he has been trying to build in the East Wing. And he says, that's what you need. You know, can't you go to a hotel? You get hotel security. You go to his reinforced 90,000 square foot ballroom. Yeah, that's not fair. I mean, you get a lot more than hotel security. But he's absolutely right, is if there is a ballroom and nobody else is allowed in, no hotel guests, everybody is vetted. The security is far, far tighter. He's right about that. Well, sure. You could hold it in a bunker, too. You could. No, but he's right. I mean, it's, and he talks about security, but conflating the whole issue of security, because he's been pushing so far for national security, everything underneath, a bunker underneath, which is a legitimate national security argument that they need one underneath the White House. Then that is the basis for, therefore, if we need one under the White House. then we need a ballroom on top of that bunker. Oh, we got all this room now that we built this bunker. Yes. Well, let's put something on top of it. wasted time. Apparently that's what the president is saying. All that travel is between the U.S. and Pakistan. And so he has called off Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were planning to go to Islamabad for more possible peace talks with Iran. But now he said, nah, let's just stay home for now.
Yeah, and he points out 15-hour flight, I mean, for nothing, because last time it was for nothing. And then my question about these flights is it's usually aboard Air Force 2, certainly when JD Vance goes or other high-ranking airplanes for high-ranking people. I think they have bedrooms. I know Air Force 1 certainly does, and I'm guessing that Air Force 2 does. I'd like to look that up. A bedroom? That's a good, that's a good deal. That's better than first class when you have your own bedroom. I would imagine they would have to. No, they wouldn't. No, they wouldn't. Super chairs, something. Oh, yeah, yeah, they have the super seat, super chairs. Yeah, they do. And for White House, for the White House reporters, there's a whole section and those are kind of neat first class seats. But I don't think they have sleepers. Do you know, I like to figure out the configuration? I'm going to look that up during the break, because that's kind of neat. This one's going to hit you in the wallet, Bill. They've got enough signatures to tax the rich. California's so-called billionaire tax has the signatures, of course, because the poor... Want to tax the rich. So backers of the proposed California billionaire's tax believe they have gathered enough signatures to get the initiative on the November ballot. Tax proposed by service employees international United health care workers West, a lot to say, which represents more than 120,000 health care workers. They want it to offset the cuts to health care funded that President Trump. spending law last year pulled some money in okay this is over a billion dollars so yeah i'm right up there aren't i so i here is the if i did have a billion dollars you think i'd wake up in the morning and do this show i wouldn't have my assistance assistant assistant uh do this show you'd pay someone to fall for you uh yeah for sure and uh Here's a deal. It's 5% of net worth. A one-time fee. Yeah, that is my question. A one-time fee. When does the next one-time fee when, okay. The next one-time fee? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, because if you look at almost every bill in which taxes are mandated for anybody that's wealthy, anything dealing with high-end taxes. And they're supposed to sunset. They never sunset. Ever. And I did the math on this. There's 200 people who are billionaires in California. And each one of them would pay $50 million one time. So how much is that? Is that a billion? I don't know. I didn't finish the math. Okay. Yeah. So it's a one-time fee to offset the budget deficit. Next year there's going to be a deficit. So let's say it takes care of a year or partially takes care of a year. And we go into deficit the next year. What do we do?
Oh, I don't know. We'll figure out some other way. And you are right. It's easy to tax the rich. And the rich don't have that much. They're not invested with that much political power. They have plenty. But what do they do, defend themselves? Well, if we have more poor people than we do rich people, why don't we tax the poor? Well, we used to tax the middle class. I mean, to your point, it's, you know, maybe you're going a little bit too far, maybe. I'm just saying take away their big screen TVs and their cell phone. Yeah, yeah, because they're giving big screen TVs. And by the way, a big screen TV cost $40 today. The point is, is that it used to be the middle class that paid all the taxes. The great middle class. That was the secret of the American success. But there is no middle class anymore. There is no middle class. So it is now the wealthy pay, the vast majority of the taxes. And it's $10 billion, by the way. Okay, and we're in deficit, what, $25 billion this year? So it's 40%. Why does Elon Musk just do it? Oh, he left California. Yeah, that's the other thing is these zillionaires, you know, say, I'm sort of done. I don't live in California anymore. So you can take the taxes that I have been paying and shove them. Right, because they're billionaires. They can go have their primary residence in Texas. Any place. Yep. And have a vacation home in California. But California will still fight for it. California, the franchise tax board, it's the taxation and the determining who lives where. Believe me, it's a huge fight to argue that you don't owe the money in California. All right. Smile, you're on candid camera. There's been a rash of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley home invasions. And in response to that, a mobile surveillance unit has been installed at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Ethel Avenue. It uses artificial intelligence to track potential suspects. Hmm. The device monitors the area 24 hours a day, analyzes video, distinguishes between animals, people, vehicles, and then any activity the AI deemed suspicious is sent to a specialized call center where human operators can dispatch help in real time. Aaron Seas, who's an ACS security spokesperson, says we have provided information footage, license plates to LAPD that have actively assisted in their investigations, and some of those cases led to arrests. Yeah, there's going to be a lot of controversy in terms of how far the authorities can dive into your life and your conversations. And I'm going to be doing some of that at 7.30.
Because I think it's surprising. I'll say the other thing it's surprising. Do you know that national security agency, the NSA, which is overseas all of the intelligence? I mean, people think the FBI is big. Nothing compared to the NSA. Do you know any cell phone conversation, any and all cell phone conversations are recorded? All of them. You get on your cell phone, done. Same thing. I believe same thing with text. Now, then you have algorithms that figure out, I mean, God help you if you are searching for pressure cookers and you're looking to buy one. Ooh, that's a tough one. Or you're giving a review of a movie and you think it's a bomb. That's not going to be helpful. I say a movie was a bomb. Oh, hello, Mr. FBI. Yes, sir. You got to love the dichotomy, though, because you have all these so-called influencers that if you're eating on a porch at a restaurant, they come up to you and test the First Amendment. to be able to record you in public. And everybody says, that's okay, that's okay. But the minute the government does it, and they say it's public. If you're in the public, you're in the public. Exactly. And we're going to talk more about that at 7.30. All right. This is interesting. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina said just yesterday, he would support Kevin Warsh's confirmation as Federal Reserve Chair. This is the last obstacle, basically, installing President Trump's pick. He is, even though Jerome Powell was his pick, wasn't he originally? Yes. Now he can't stand the man, keep wants him to leave. Jerome Powell put his heels in the sand. But this was the last basic obstacle. And so now it can go through. Yeah, this is one where Thom Tillis wanted, well, I mean, the Republicans and the president wanted Kevin Warsh's nomination to go through. And Thom Tillis is so upset about Jerome Powell in this investigation, this investigation without any merit at all against Jerome Powell, because that's what the administration does. If you're a perceived enemy, you go after him with a passion. And the president uses Department of Justice. Antilles can stop a vote from coming forward out of committee because it's his committee. And he can say, no vote. And so there they're playing chicken. And finally what happened is the Justice Department said, okay, we're going to drop it. We're going to drop the investigation against Jerome Powell because there isn't anything there. Anyway, you're going to see Kevin Warsh is going to be the next Fed chair.
Not much of a price to pay. Remember that was that explosion in South L.A.? It happened in June of 2021. The LAPD bomb squad miscalculated the size of a planned detonation of seized fireworks, and it wiped out part of a neighborhood, leveled part of a city block, destroying dozens of homes, cost the city millions in lawsuit payouts. Well... Were the police officers involved punished? Well, that's been very closely guarded until recently when an Internal Affairs investigative file for the incidents surfaced online. Six bomb squad officers were on scene that day, and the leaked file shows that they all escaped serious discipline. The harshest punishment was suspension of 18 days without pay. And they're investigating the committee from Disney that came over there to figure out how they were able to do those kinds of fireworks with so few people. Okay, that's a Disney joke with fireworks every night at 930 during the summer and only on weekends during, okay. Well, it looks like Charles III III and President, my apologies, President Donald Trump. We'll be meeting after all. Buckingham Palace said that Charles III will visit the U.S. this week. They're going to proceed with a planned connection and sit down, I suppose, even though the security concerns were raised by Saturday's shooting there at the Washington dinner. So. They say, no, we've been fully informed with everything going on and we feel secure. I find this fascinating that the King of England is celebrating the 250th anniversary of our revolt against England. Somehow, that's a great deal for England. Tell me about that one. Well, we made up. We did make up. There's no question about it. Eventually, we did make up. And also, no, I'm not going to go there. I'm not going there. I can't decipher that one. No, I know. Me neither. Almost time. Oh, yeah, well, okay. I hear, I'm going to go. He's going to, I think, appear before a joint session of Congress. He's going to address Congress, which very, very rarely happens. Charles is? I think so. Oh, okay. That's why I said I don't want to go there because I'm not sure. Oh, I thought you're going to make some sort of joke. No. They were worried about him getting shot in the ear and bleeding out. Now, are we going to go, this is Charles III the second. Are we going to go to the third, the third, President Trump the first? Okay, moving on. Okay. Almost time for trial. There's been a year-long battle, years-long battle, between Elon Musk and Open AI. Jury selection in the lawsuit starts today.
Opening arguments in Northern California are expected tomorrow. In the suit, Elon Musk accuses Sam Altman, Open AI President Greg Brockman and others of misleading him about the company's plans to transition from nonprofit to a for-profit business. And the outcome of this case could have a significant impact on the AI industry. And if it goes Elon Musk's way, could derail Open AI's future IPO plans. Now, would you ever think of Elon Musk arguing that he should not have shares in a company that's for-profit? And he is arguing it was a, he argues that his, what, $44 million was actually a donation to a nonprofit. That's what the issue of this case is. And it has implications, far-reaching implications, as Amy just said. All right. Can you imagine being out at Stagecoach, which is the follow-up concert after Coachella, the two weekends of a Coachella, and the big screens we all know and love that show the concert start flashing emergency evacuation. The festival has been postponed until further notice. Please move quickly and calmly to the nearest exit. Well, that's what happened this weekend because of the high winds. 65 miles per hour at peak. And they had to shut things down. Yeah, but the wind calmed down a couple hours later. So what's weird about the debt. Don't you think this would happen more in that area with these concerts because it's just so unpredictable when that wind will kick up? Hmm. Well, we've done concerts, several of them where it started raining and they had to stop and cancel it or something like that. But not just because of the high winds. And our editor, Carla's daughter was out there and said it was a little bit harrowing because people started getting separated from each other. I mean, there's 100,000 people out there. Yeah, not only that. And they're all running. Massive scaffolding and equipment and speaker, you know, pillars. And yeah, it's scary. NFL is apparently going Hollywood. So not only do they kill it in the ratings with football, they're looking to expand their audience with theatrical motion pictures and scripted streaming series. One of the upcoming movies is about John Madden. Another is a Christmas Day release about an unlikely hero for the New York Giants. And then there's also the land, which is coming to Hulu. centered on fictional characters and the Cleveland Browns that stars Christopher Maloney, Mandy Moore, and William H. Macy. Love him. Now, there have been films about NFL players in the past. And teams, yeah. Yeah, New Rockney, and there was one about Jim Thorpe and a few others. But this is the first time the NFL itself is going to be producing movies. And that is fairly big news. Because the NFL is, I would say, reasonably popular. More people watch the Super Bowl, for example, 110, 115 million people watch the Super Bowl.
And a Disneyland story, Amy, correct me if I am wrong, is that it is told to us. It's a myth that the best place to go to on Super Bowl Sunday is to go to Disneyland. And the problem is 110 million people are watching the Super Bowl, which leaves 280 million people that are not, and they're all going to Disneyland. Absolutely. Yeah, there's nothing to that myth. All right, listen, calm down, everybody. There's something new to be worried about. How about we get some of that flesh-eating new world screw worm out here? More and more, closing in on the U.S. So they found cases of this flesh-eating infection miles from the Texas border with Mexico. And that's making people freaked out because we once eradicated this. And the new world screw-worm. flies feed on warm blooded animals and humans to create painful bowel-smelling wounds. This is, yeah, they put their, they spread when the female flies lay eggs and open wounds. They can be very tiny. They also go in animals' nose, eyes, ears, mouth, all that stuff. But there, these, it was once eradicated. In 1966. And then we had some new ones come up in the 2000s. And we've been fighting them by, you know, we do this with mosquitoes too, where they, they don't castrate, but they make it so they can't reproduce. I have a question real quick. This is a technical question. Kono, I'm hearing some static from Neil. Is that me or is that actually happening? It's everybody. Oh, it is. Okay. You always get static from me. That's correct. But we have a technical glitch. So, Neil, why don't you, you know, hang up the phone and you can call back or you can go back on the microphone tomorrow. That sounds great. Yeah. All right. Let's, why don't we finish this one up? I mean, we are done. So here is the question. Who is Cole Thomas Allen, the guy who tried to assassinate, we assume, President Trump at the correspondence dinner. And so we'll cover a little bit of that today. In the meantime, this is KFI AM 640.
