This needle summon, which was meant to focus on European defence spending, meant to focus on meeting President Trump's demand to shift the burden, is instead being overshadowed. by the conflict in Iran and also to an extent by the President's long-held grievances towards European partners. But that huge headline today, President Trump declaring the U.S.-Iran ceasefire effectively finished. It's not officially finished, and negotiations are technically continuing. But it's clear that President Trump is very unhappy for the way things have gone. And we heard some of the names, the personal insults towards Iran's leadership. scum, sick people, liars, cancer, cuckoo. He also said of his negotiating team, they can talk, but I think they're wasting their time. You've got to remember, not so long ago, President Trump was saying that the leadership in Iran were different, that they were more rational, they were more level-headed, there were people he could do business with. It doesn't feel like that anymore. Tell us about the tensions that kicked up over the Middle East in the last 24 hours or so. Who's the latest to lob attacks? Yeah, this all started when three ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz were attacked. Iran was blamed for that without officially taking responsibility for it. The United States decided to carry out military strikes inside Iran targeting air defense systems, radar installations, and more than 60 Revolutionary Guard fast. attack boats which had been used to harass shipping. That was intended to impose heavy costs on Iran and was bigger than the previous rounds of strikes. Iran then responded launching missiles and drones towards US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait. No major casualties have yet been reported. Obviously, the big drama involving Iran is taking up a lot of the oxygen this morning, but the president's comments about Greenland also big and overall, Trump lashing out at Europe at the NATO summit. I'm very upset with NATO is what he said. Again, repeating his claim that America pays billions and billions too much.

Secretary General Mark Rutte at pains to point out and make this the case sitting next to President Trump, that European countries are now paying $1 trillion more than they were before President Trump's first term. You're calling that the Trump trillion and saying that this wouldn't have happened without you sitting in the chair trying to, I suppose turn President Trump's view round on Europe while praising the president himself, but he still not satisfied, not satisfied particularly with... Spain, calling Spain hopeless, bad people, a terrible partner instructing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to cut off all trade with Spain, known formal measures in that regard to be announced, but also reviving that controversial ambition to control Greenland. That prompted a response from the Danish Prime Minister saying Greenland is not for sale, we are ready to defend every inch of NATO, including our own territory. You're an expert reporter. I don't know if you're an expert in body language, but what was Mark Rutte's response to all that? As he's seated right next to Trump. He had, I think, a fixed grin on his face, perhaps. Perhaps slightly tense, very much turning towards the president, engaging with him. But it was slightly awkward. President Trump praising Mark Rutte to the hill clearly likes him. There was a point where Mark wrote to that he said to President Trump, it's your win, talking about the extra defense spending community, versus that it's your win, President Trump said, that's why I like him.
