Hey, from CNN. I'm Afoma DK with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, April 15th. The White House says the Trump administration feels good about the prospects of a deal with Iran. The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran remains committed to promoting peace after meeting a key Pakistani negotiator. Today, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Pakistan would be the likely location for a potential second round of in-person talks. She also pushed back on reports of a ceasefire extension during today's briefing. That is not true at this moment. We've remained very much engaged in these negotiations in these talks. You heard from the vice president directly and the president this week that these conversations

are productive and ongoing. And that's where we are right now. Meanwhile for a fourth time on Capitol Hill, the Senate rejected a measure aimed at limiting President Donald Trump's war powers for any future military action in Iran. Also an Israeli source says Israel's security cabinet met today to discuss a possible ceasefire with Lebanon. comes a day after the first direct talks between the two nations in 40 years. Despite the talks, Israel and Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah have continued to exchange fire.

The troops brokered in October. brought an end to two years of war in Gaza. Hamas has reasserted its control over the portion of Gaza that isn't occupied by Israel, and the Israeli military has continued to carry out strikes in the territory. Today in Cairo, a chief Hamas negotiator pressed a senior U.S. official about Israel holding up its end of the first phase of the deal,

including ending strikes and allowing more humanitarian aid in order to move on to the next phase, the sources said. Multiple sources say talks with mediators about an agreement over the next phase of the deal have repeatedly stalled over the next phase of the deal, demands that Hamas agreed to disarm before Israel fulfills its phase one commitments. President Trump told Fox business he has a potential list of candidates in mind to replace conservative Supreme Court Samuel Alito Samuel Alito if he decides to retire this year. CNN's John Fritzie has more. The president has clearly given this possible retirement some thought. He noted that he has a list of potential candidates and he spent a lot of time talking about

Justice Ginsburg's decision not to retire during the Obama administration. administration. Ginsberg died in 2020. Trump named Amy Coney Barrett to replace her. And a lot of liberals felt that Ginsburg made a mistake by not stepping down earlier. Trump is clearly suggesting that Samuel Alito should learn from that episode. Samuel Alito hasn't indicated what he'll do. And it's unlikely these remarks from President Trump will factor into his decision. House GOP leaders are postponing today's vote to extend a critical foreign surveillance program for the government known as FISA. The law which expires on April 20th

allows U.S. officials to collect foreign targets, phone calls, and text messages, but can also scoop up Americans' data in the process. President Trump says FISA is crucial to protect the U.S. military in the Middle East and help prevent terrorist attacks in the U.S. But Republican lawmakers are at odds, with some pushing for better protections for Americans.

A jury in New York found Live Nation and Ticketmaster operated as a monopoly and overcharged fans. This comes after the Justice Department reached a secret settlement with Live Nation that a handful of states signed on to, while more than a dozen proceeded to trial. However, the settlement requires the judge's approval. Today's decision validates complaints that the industry giant was stifling competition and driving up fees. for fans. But ticket prices won't be dropping anytime soon. The judge will now hold a second trial to decide what remedies are warranted, including whether to grant the state's request to break up the company or make other structural changes such as selling the businesses.
