And it is the talk to the town. The weather that came last night. Not expected. In the slightest. Go now to meteorologist Jason Hammer. Squam! Thank you, Jason. Just screaming at his video camera as he did on Facebook. You can follow him there. So right now, as producer Carl discusses it and others, the roads are slick. There was a bit of unpreparedness. Now, I'm not getting into anybody's face just yet. I want to know where we're at right now. What's happening now to get roadways, to be in a place where they're less slick, easier to manage, easier to handle? What was the word that these groups were getting, cities were getting last night? about what was coming and what was done about it when they realized, hey, this is going to be more than just flurries. Now, I know what you're saying. Hey, Tony, we lived in Indiana a good long time. This ain't nothing. I'm not saying that we ended up with nine feet of snow and it's impassable and it was milk and bread weather and we're all going to die. I am saying that it is the little things like this that cause massive issue. They always do. It's not the name storm. It's when we have one freak cell come through, and the next thing you know, 72,000 people are out of power. No one's out of power right now. This is, these are the things, and they do have an effect, and they're absolutely affecting the morning commute. We're keeping our eye on it. We're going to be sharing the story. Paul Bowdoin-Loss is in from Matt Baer today. We will have all the traffic updates exactly as we're supposed to. But yeah, Northwest.

got hammered, absolutely ripped apart. Conditions were just perfect and no, while they're more used to certain things happening, I don't think they were ready for this. So a lot to cover today, including a shutdown that may very well be over and Democrats who are very much interested in it continuing. Oh, I have got the full and complete story for you. And what it means going into 2026, because of course it means something going into 2026 if we do our job right. Tony Katz, 93 WIBC. Good morning. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Your local Toyota dealer has great deals available today on RAV-4, Grand Highlander, Camry, and Corolla, with the features and style you deserve. It means driving for less, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid options across the lineup, delivering great MPGs. And it means trading for more. I don't care who wants to yell at me about it, including the Treasury Secretary. I voted for Trump three times. I can notice when something's out of sorts, it doesn't make me a bad guy. Boogany, boogany, boogany, boogany. They're taxes. Can we all just please? A little focus. You got to find it for me, producer Carl. Tony Katz, 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. I will get to that story. Some people have taken note of our thoughts over here. We have got ourselves as close as we have gotten to ending the government shutdown. And this is ending because the Democrats have realized that they've lost this battle. No, wait, I take that back. Some Democrats have realized. that they have lost this battle. Some Democrats. What happened was, and we shared it here, is that last week, let's talk about the last seven days, we have an election off-year elections, and Democrats win the mayor's race. I'm sorry, communists win, no, wait, hold on, Marxist, there it is, win the mayor's race in New York. Then Democrats win the governor's races in New Jersey and in Virginia. And in Virginia, because they're so good, kind and decent, they elected a man to be their attorney general who is very okay with fantasizing about killing children. That's the Democratic Party. Do what you will.

5:50

What Democrats took from that is, well, we won. Oh, my gosh, we're so powerful now. I guess the post-mortem was written too early. The Democratic Party is back, and everything is great. And what did we say? As we have always said, the left always overplays their hand. And then on Friday... We were discussing people like Richard Blumenthal, senator from Connecticut, who lied about serving in Vietnam. I think that there is no reason to surrender now, every reason to stand firm. So we were told that now that they've won, the shutdown will come to an end. They were just trying to motivate their base to come out for the midterms, for these off-season off-year elections. Well, they win and they decide, well, this means that we can't give up now. We have to keep this shutdown that's keeping mom from being paid and dad from being paid and kids from being fed. We have to keep this going. We will not stop. We're the Democratic Party. We will not rest until every child we can starve has been starved. That's what they said. And if you don't believe me, this is Chris Murphy, Beta Mail, Connecticut Senator. I think there will be some pretty substantial damage done to a democratic brand that has been rehabilitated. If on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop fighting. If we surrender without having gotten anything and we cause a lot of folks in this country who had started to believe in the Democratic Party to retreat again, I worry that it will be hard to sort of. get them back up off the mat in time for next fall's election cycle. So there it is. Democrats wanted to keep this going because they thought if they didn't, they would lose out on a power opportunity. Last night, the Senate took its first step to ending the shutdown by getting 60 votes. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Tim Kaine of Virginia, both senators from New Hampshire, Cortez Mastow, and Jackie Rosen of Nevada, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, and Angus King of Maine. Voting alongside 52 Republicans, Rand Paul, Kentucky did vote no. I don't know why. Something having to do with spending, I'm sure. This to keep SNAP benefits, veterans programs, and congressional operations going through September 30th, 2026. Oh my gosh, that's like nine months of reprieve. It's not a budget, but at least we don't have to think about this for a while. You know, we only have to think about it going into the midterms. I'm not even sure I would have voted for that, but that's not the whole story. The whole story is. is that the whole conversation about, well, we have to protect health care. We need health care and we need subsidies for Obamacare. Now, we all know because we've discussed it here. Obamacare was supposed to save us all money. Obamacare was supposed to be great. Obamacare never worked. Obamacare was a lie and Barack Obama was a liar. I'm Tony Katz and these are the facts.

9:24

Equally true, it's been a decade and Republicans still don't have anything to counter it with. I'm not even saying you have to. I would have just gone back to market principles, which are far better. And how about allowing selling across state lines? You know, these free market ideas we've been hearing about, but we haven't yet implemented in any level of totality to see a difference, creating different pools of people that can bring costs down. Good Lord. Sorry. Markets work. It's time for grownups to be grownups. And where it doesn't work, let's look at what hand is in there screwing with the system and let's remove that hand. Or just cut it off outright. Obamacare never worked. Obamacare was supposed to lower costs. It didn't. So Democrats said we need subsidies for the Obamacare. And they put in subsidies. You. have been paying for somebody else to get a health care system you have been paying for. That doesn't actually work. Well, when the Inflation Reduction Act under Joe Biden, who was pretending to be president, came about, it extended the subsidies till December 31st, 2025. They sunset. So this whole conversation about Republican health care crisis, which never grabbed hold. was about Democrats voting to have the subsidies end and then being upset that they couldn't keep the subsidies going. So instead of getting the victory about subsidies, they've been guaranteed a vote on the subsidies. I have no idea what's going to happen with that vote. I don't, I don't have any clue whatsoever. Also, this vote could have been gotten the third day into the shutdown, the fifth day into the shutdown, the seventh, the ninth, the 11th, 13th, 15, 17, any day that you could have had this and you could have ended this. But nope, Democrats wanted to shut it down, as Senator Richard Blumenthal and Senator Murphy told you. Chuck Schumer is a no vote on this compromise deal. They wanted mom not to get paid, dad not to get paid, and kid to starve. That's who they are. You got to take that with you into the midterms. Every Republican has to be explaining this to people into November 3rd, 2026th. But the real question for us is, so what's going to happen now? Well, We already know that they are working their way up to canceling 10% of flights by the end of this week. By Friday, it'll be at 10%. We already canceled 1,300 flights yesterday. Airports are already a mess. And there is no knowing whether or not this gets self-corrected by Thanksgiving. We aren't sure whether or not that's going to be the case. So what's next is another set of votes, which will then send it from the Senate to the House, which will then vote, because it's a little bit different of a deal, and then get to the president's desk. So maybe by Friday, which means you're going to get air traffic controllers back pay and back up and running in two weeks. Oh, you better tell Grandma there's a chance she's not making it for Thanksgiving or you're not making it there.

12:46

You better be prepared in that right now. The damage is done. And the Democrats did this. And just for the sake of clarity, instead of the Indiana Democratic Party saying, hey, we don't want this, they said whatever they tell us in D.C. to say, that's what we'll say. We don't pay attention to what people say on the ground. We don't pay attention to Hoosier needs. Whatever it is, Chuck Schumer and the party want us to say, that's what we'll say, and that's what the Democratic Party of Indiana did. And you wonder why you don't win statewide elections. And you think I should be scared of you about redistricting? Oh, that's funny. Not true, but funny. Toyota is known for building long-lasting vehicles, meaning your car will hold its value for years to come. Shop Toyota.com to find out more. Toyota. Let's go places. Another weekend. Another city unsafe. Tony Katz. 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. Investigation underway as Fox 59 reports the story. Regarding gunfire. and parked cars and buildings riddled with bullet holes. IMPD said just after 2.30 a.m., officers responding to Monument Circle on the report of shots fired. You could see First Financial Bank with their sign with bullets hole in them, bullet holes in them. They found, police found, several businesses damaged on Meridian, Maryland and Washington Streets. Windows above Chipotle and Crabb 99 were shattered. How much of this goes on to Joe Hogsett? And the answer is a bunch. Not every bit of it. Not every bit of it at all. That's kind of nutty. I'd be a fool to say that every part of this is his fault. We have certainly an issue of... People who think that something like this is fun, the damage they do is fun, the destruction is fun, it's not fun. The destruction would be less is if the destruction would be less if when these people are arrested, they're charged aggressively so everybody knows we don't do this stuff here. We don't engage this. These signs have to be repaired. Every sign that has to be repaired is money that is not spent elsewhere. As Bastiat explained, it is the scene versus the unseen. What you see is somebody having to make a new sign. What is unseen is all the things that could have been done with those dollars. Jobs created, et cetera, that don't get done. It is destructive. It's dangerous. Oh, by the way, people can also get killed. Culturally, we have an issue and in leadership we have an issue because the leadership will not speak as honestly as I just did right now.

16:21

So with that, Indianapolis is not as safe as it should be as it needs to be as it can be. It just isn't. By the way, you can find the story at WIBC.com, Jared Lewis with the reporting. Tony Katz 93, WIBC, good morning. Steve Bannon called me standard stock. Come on. Hold on. I'm writing to them right now. Tariffs are taxes. And consultants are terrible. And Secretary Scott Bessent... Hold on a second. I got a... I got a... Guys, trust me on this. This is good. Tony Katz. 93 WIBC, good morning. Good to be with you. And Scott Bessent, that's the Treasure Secretary, should be helping people understand why prices aren't down just yet across a lot of products. Across a lot of sectors, sectors. This all has to do with me appearing on Sean Spicer's show. I voted for Trump three times. Standard stock? Ah, Steve Bannon. So here's the story. was on Sean Spicer's show, and I was discussing the cost of everything. I was discussing where we're seeing this affordability conversation to the extent that it's real, et cetera. And this is... what i what i what i said i'm willing to go all the way with it and set people ablaze in this conversation but we should be at least at the start not insane this is an off-year election in blue states there was built-in advantages for the democrats that were running As for us missing messaging, I will take this and not put it on the consultant class. I'll put this on the Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, who wants to keep telling people that everything is going great. It isn't. It's not true. It's not real. And thank goodness I heard President Trump finally address this yesterday, a subject at least on radio we've been addressing for months. Beef prices are out of control. Egg prices are down. Gas prices are down, but you still feel like everything costs too much. Tariffs do increase the cost of things. And the president may love the word tariff, the most beautiful word in the world, it still costs us more. And we feel that it costs us more. So the reality is you have to be addressing those concerns and explaining why you're engaged in tariffs, why these things are happening. That's the stuff that matters. You can't just say everything's fine. That's Jenny.

19:38

Yellen saying that inflation's nothing more than transitory, which was crap. It was a lie. It was a fraud. And when you go down that road, you win the stupid prizes. Tell me what I said that was wrong. Tell me what I said that was issuatic or problematic. So Steve Bannon has the Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, on the show, and comes back with this. Okay, that's Tony Katz. And remember, Tony is a talk radio host in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a standard stock classic Republican. This is why I didn't want to blame the consultant class who is a lot. The whole thing about the campaign the other day was it wasn't that you lost in blue states. We get that. It was the scale of the loss and across the country and other these districts, and quite frankly, state assemblies and other things that we had been shifting dramatically, Trump, particularly New Jersey. It's points on the buy. It was consulting class doing, going back with Citrieli talking about tax cuts and talking about, you know, size of government. He's changing the subject. You can, you can lambast the consultants all you want. My point is, just because they're saying it doesn't mean you go along with it. Go against their grain. Oh, good gosh. Why in the world? Standard stock. I think I'm more offended by that than anything else. By the way, because Steve will see this because I know producer Carl's going to clip the live stream and send it to him. Hold on putting this out there. There it is. Boom. I'm the guy who favors redistricting. I'm the guy who, when they called you, Steve, an anti-Semit. I said, listen to me carefully. Steve Bannon's a lot of things. That ain't one of them. The whole thing is just nuts. Standard stock. Voted for Trump three times. Holy hell. You don't agree on this standard stock. Big tent, kitten. Big tent. Oh, by the way, I'm right. That's the part on the tariffs. I'm right as policy Drek as targeted at an approach and specifically on China, unbelievably worthy. Utilization as a tool to get better trade deals, great. Now I want to see the result of the trade deal, but no problem. As an all-out policy, terrible. And based on trade deficits and not based on anything else, what do we care if we have trade deficits with certain countries? That's not proof of quote-unquote abuse. There is, however, abuse. Where are they investing those dollars? They investing them here? Then solid. What does it matter if we buy more of their product that they buy of ours? That's my argument. But in every situation, as I said there, and I at least, Steve, I'll say thanks for sharing the full quote, which Mark Caputo of Axios did not do. You have to tell people why we're in this fight. You have to bring them along with you. I would say that people want to be in this fight. They just don't know what it is they're fighting. What they see is their government kind of working against them and raising prices. They aren't involved in the...

23:00

greater story of if we are victorious, here's what it will mean for your country and your kids and you. Or maybe your kids, you and your country. And I think Scott Bessent could do a better job of bringing that in. He's smart enough. The guy's way smarter than me. But on this, he isn't hitting it right. And yeah, I'm going to say so. And no, don't worry if Steve, if you agree. I'm happy to debate it with you, man. Anytime. By the way, I appreciate you sharing it. However, standard stock is pretty cold-hearted. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Your local Toyota dealer has great deals available today on Tacoma, Tundra, and Forerunner with the space and features for any adventure. The Colts pull it out. The Pacers, not so much. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. J.M.V. joins us. He is the Voice of Sports in Indiana from 93-5-107-5. The fan. We can talk about the Pacers if you choose. And we do need to get into it, but I want to talk before we get to the Colts. This IU game. this level of heroics, this not give up attitude. Look, the win is ugly, but a win is a win. I think the story here is this team marched down the field like they thought they were supposed to win. No, Tony, there's no doubt about that. By the way, brought you by LD. Smith Plumbing, 317927-7-1-186, that's LD.spit plumbing.com, and you're so right. It was a team that had to do something that had struggled in the fourth, putting anything offensively together. And then the Heisman Trophy Frontrunner, a quarterback Fernando Mendoza, orchestrated a drive that is going to be a signature moment, I think, for this team forever. And the signature catch. with Omar Cooper Jr. to seal that, which will live in legend with IU fans. And Tony, I will say this, for an IU team like that that is in search of this type of territory, you know, moving forward in the Big Ten into the postseason, there's normally a signature moment that you have to withstand and surpass in a season where you kind of rescue yourself from a loss. if you're going to reach the highest of levels, that was that moment at Happy Valley on Saturday for IU. It doesn't matter if it came against a team that is not very good this season or really good this season. He normally had that moment. That was IU's moment to move forward and to place themselves in position to do something they've never done before. It was pretty amazing. It really was.

26:15

We move it over to the Colts talking to JMV, the voice of sports in Indiana, 3125 over the Falcons in overtime. Daniel Jay Jones, 19 for 26, 255 yards, one touchdown, one interception, a pretty standard game for him in the clock management. But him being bloodied in the mouth. Because he ran for 53 yards. And Jonathan Taylor with 244 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. What is the problem here? Because these stats say this team wins by a country mile. And that's not what happened. We talked about this earlier this year, Tony. They were winning and winning substantially because of their offensive operation and how dominant it was and how they're spreading the ball out. The problem is right now the operation has been flawed. Whether we're talking about the offensive line, which is a major part of that. That's a major focus they're going to have to get into in the by week is protecting their quarterback. And that also is... productive in terms of what is leading Daniel Jay Jones to have happy feet to make bad decisions, different decisions that he was making earlier this season. So we saw that yesterday. That's going to have to be fixed for them to be the best team they can be. However, they survived in Berlin yesterday, and Daniel Jay Jones had an incredible third down scramble run to put them in position to sustain that drive and that game. After that, the next play, you hit Tyler Warren for that fourth down conversion. Then you go on to score. Again, those are moments, too. You also have to withstand, but you also have to get better offensively with that offensive line because that is simply put, not going to work. We've seen a different Daniel Jay Jones, Tony, in the past two weeks because of edge pressure and pressure in his face defensively. That offensive line has to be under the microscope this by week. and get better because it's just not been what is going to be necessary for this offense to withstand and really look like what we saw earlier this season in the last two weeks has just been different. Yeah, the defense that we have is bend and break a little, and it usually doesn't matter because the offense is so prolific. Last two weeks has shown a serious cracking of that because of this offensive line. Did something change? Is there an injury we know about, or have you noticed possibly something that no one's talking about? No, I think it's more just what the defenses have found. I think Pittsburgh kind of unearthed a way. And again, this is not rocket science here. You get out for the quarterback, you put pressure on it and he makes bad decisions. Okay. But I think Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh week before last, you know, found out that you can really rattle Daniel Jay Jones in the fashion in which he was rattled most of his six years with the Giants. And that's by putting a lot of pressure by blitzing the last two weeks.

29:09

We have seen a lot of blitzing. We've seen a lot of edge pressure, a lot of face pressure for the quarterback. That has to be fixed because clearly this is something that's going to rattle most quarterbacks. But it's getting to Daniel Jay Jones, and Tony, you were right. The Colts still, their best defense is having a prolific offense. And I mean a well-oiled machine. And it has not been that way the last two weeks. Before I let you go. Sauce Gardner had an opportunity for the pick six, which I'm sure he regrets. But talk to me about what you saw from Soss Gardner, of course, picking him up in the trade with the New York Jets. We gave up two first round picks, 2026 and 27. We also gave up receiver A.D. Mitchell, because I saw certainly something from Treadwell, who we brought up from the practice squad. playing in the game yesterday. But what did you see specifically from Sauce Gardner? And is there anything we should be looking at as, okay, this could be interesting two weeks from now when this team is back from the bye? Yeah, Tony, I saw a guy that had a crash course in learning that defense in about three days. That's what I saw. I saw a talented guy that is going to be better when he learns more, going to be better when Charverius Ward certainly returns, and you're going to have an incredible secondary once Ward does get back and he should return after the bye week. So that's what I saw. Yeah, did he not look good when he slipped and fell on that two-point conversion? No. Do you want him to make that play? A pick six opportunity right there when he dove for that interception. But, yeah, he was out there. I thought he acclimated as best he could in that short amount of time. I think once you go through the biweek, I think we're going to see an even better individual performance. And then collectively... This team is going to get a lot better in the back end of that defense because of the return of Ward. And once all these guys are together and healthy, JMV, the voice of sports in Indiana, 93-5-107-5, the fan every Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. Check him out. I appreciate you, man. It's a story you need to hear it, believe, then grab your popcorn because there is more. Oh, that was a lot. I'd take a breath for a second. I do have a series of things to get to. And I've been talking about this government shutdown. I've been talking about how we might see the very, very end of it, which I am overjoyed by. And yet, I hear from Adam Schiff that, you know, there's no crack in the Democratic Party at all. There have been some talks in the Senate between Republicans and Democrats trying to forge a possible compromise. Is Democratic unity crumbling on this? No, I think what we're seeing is a lot of cracks within Republicans, as you see now over a dozen Republicans in the House, for example, say they want to fix the Affordable Care Act problems. Those are the cracks I'm saying. You see cracks. Adam Schiff is a liar and a fraud and a fool. If you believe him, you're ridiculous. He deserves every bit of derision he gets. He's a yuck. Let me give me an example of the Democratic Division here.

35:29

I have been sharing a series of people who are desperate to keep this shutdown going. 40 days and mom and dad not getting paid. Snap benefits not being paid. We've been talking here all week. Give to your local food pantry. I know my wife was telling me about a food drive. She's participating in later this week. And by the way, give next week too. Make it a part of your thing. There are neighbors who need help who have been impacted and affected. We absolutely should be looking at these snap benefits and saying who exactly is getting food stamps here. Why are able-bodied men getting these things? This stuff is wrong. There are also people who need it. And right now, job number one is get those people fed. We've said that here. Don't apologize for it. What Democrats are saying is power is more important than kids. They don't care if kids starve. And while Adam Schiff, the senator from California, who lied about Russia, Russia, Russia, he is a liar and a fraud, says there are no cracks in the Democratic Party. I've got Keith Olberman. expel these feckless traders, meaning the people who voted to get above the 60 vote threshold to put an end to this shutdown. Democrats are now making a deal. They don't get the Obamacare subsidies. No, no, no, that's a separate vote that will take place after the government's open, but it will fund veterans. It'll fund SNAP. It'll fund other things through September of 2026. So we'll have this fight again before the midterms. But that's not the story right now. The story here. is that Democrats want to keep the government closed. Keith Olberman wants to fire and the people who voted for this shutdown. The beta mail, Harry Sisson, absolutely pathetic. I cannot believe we cave to this wannabe dictator and his goons. Thanks to the Democrats who voted no, we'll remember who bent the knee. He wants kids to starve. Here's Jojo from jurors. Anybody's been on social media knows this leftist. Democrats better not blanking cave right now. No blanking deal without an actual commitment on Affordable Care Act or Obamacare tax credits. She wants to keep subsidizing the so-called health care that was supposed to be affordable for everyone. She wants you to spend more, and she doesn't care if kids starve. Then you've got Senator Chris Murphy. This continuing resolution is a major mistake. Senator Murphy wants kids to starve and wants mom and dad to not get paid. They want power more than they want your future. I think we need to fix some of these things. I think we want to take care of those who are having issue taking care of themselves who have real issue. Yes, I would much rather it was private charity, but I'm not going to win every fight right away. They want kids to starve. Mom and dad do not get paid so they can have power. Remember that. Their power grab, Indiana Democrats, all Democrats, is so massive. They'll let kids starve in order to get the power. Me, I just want to redistrict. Nobody starves. What can I say? I'm much more of a humanitarian than any of these Democrats. But we already knew that.

I have no idea where Matt is, by the way, none whatsoever. And so, Carl, I have for you right now, creepier classic, this is. Two sofas in Beach Grove and Beach is spelled B-E-A-C-H. Oh, this is going to be great. They are red and black, but they're the kind of couches. One's a couch, one's a love seat. Right? I'll actually, I'll, I posted the love seat only. I will post the couch right here. I will get that up for everybody. If you follow me on Twitter X at Tony Katz. It's very 1980s. Right? It's very thick. It's got the wide arms, but not in the cool way, in the this is a couch that was a casting couch kind of way. Hey now. Tell me, producer Carl, that isn't exactly what it looks like. And you absolutely had this couch in the mid-1980s. I was never a casting director, but I can see casting directors having this. In your days in Los Angeles, you indeed had this couch. No.

41:42

You know, Julia Louis Dreyfus in Christmas vacation, and you know her design style? Yeah. That's, that's this couch. That's it right there. And it's red and it's black. And you're like, like, wow, that's so cool. And clearly, clearly there was some inappropriate video done on a couch like this. Do you want to put a black light on it? No. I don't even want to put a regular light on it. But it's for sale, and they're selling both of them for $600. Yeah, it's out of my price range. But, you know, I'm sure some rich kids, some college kids would like it. Is this like basement material? Is this like, you know what? You can kick back and watch the movie in this. And it's kind of plush and it's kind of fun. And, you know, they've got all sorts of antibacterial wipes. And you can make this thing sing. It would be fun for a young guy. All right. Maybe. Maybe. But the price ain't bad. Well, for young people, $600 is a lot, I guess. Right. Well, I'm not saying it isn't a lot for some people. I'm just saying $600 for two sofas is not the worst deal in the world. If you get this, could you just let us know? Right? Some people in the chat room want me to put it in the studio. And the answer is, for your guess. No. No, I shan't. I have two chairs to replace. I'm working on that, but this is not my design aesthetic. I'm just going to leave it there. That's all right. Find the full list of everything we do at the marketplace over at WIBC.com. Producer Carl puts it all together in a very nice package. Check it out for yourself. Tony Katz 93, WIBC. Good morning. There was a story about an IU lecturer removed from the classroom. And I only wonder why it didn't happen earlier. Tony Katz, 93 WIBC, good morning, good to be with you. I talked about this story about a lecturer named Jessica Adams, who was teaching the nonsense of white privilege and the nonsense of DEI. teaching a level of division and divisiveness in IU classrooms, her class, diversity, human rights, and social justice. If you take a look at the things that she talked about, white supremacy is Make America Great Again. It's on an actual slide from the Safe House Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence. And if this is what you're teaching, of course you shouldn't be teaching at IU. And IU was absolutely right to remove her and everyone like her should be fired. This is a far cry from a conversation of whether or not we should be engaged in teaching things that are hard or difficult. We've talked about this, for example, in the conversation about slavery and the conversation about race relations in America.

44:52

The idea that we could have any student in public schools, to the extent that we should even have public schools, which I am less and less in favor of every day, we need to break this system in two. And when I say less and less in favor of, I'm not. The way we have public schools now, we have to completely do away with it doesn't work. That any student can go through an education and not know about the Tulsa Race Massacre is beyond comprehension. It's wrong. We can fix these things and we should. students that they're bigoted based on the color of their skin, they're victims based on the colors of their skin, they're oppressed based on the color of their skin, and think that that's education. It's not education. There were complaints made. One of those complaints made its way to Senator Jim Banks. Senator Jim Banks reached out to the school, and now this lecturer has been removed. Now, IDS, the Indiana Daily student, they have an article about this. And what I believe they say, transparency to the students of Indiana University, first of all, congratulations on the great football team. That's got to be a lot of fun and super enjoyable. You're not in charge of anything. And I don't know why Pam Witten and others aren't saying this. What transparency issue are you talking about? You think it's important to have a teacher teaching this bigotry? It is certainly not important. As a matter of fact, it is a major mistake. But the Indiana Daily student goes about quoting students talking about how this teacher's removal, Jessica Adams removal, will have a negative effect on their experience in the classroom. What about all the students in there who were called racists and bigots for the color of their skin? They did nothing except show up to class because this was the curriculum and they're being told that they're bigots. And what happens if they disagree? Are they allowed to disagree out loud? Or are they further called bigots? Are they embarrassed? Shame? Do they risk not passing the class? So they sit there in silence and suffer while a teacher who absolutely is wrong. We're not going to agree to disagree here. She's wrong. This is bigotry. DEI is bigotry. This is a level of hate. There's no diversity in this conversation. To teach about the issues of America is smart and valuable. To tell people you've never met, they are guilty for the color of their skin is KKK talk. And I won't have that. And neither should you. And certainly neither should I you. KKK talk. I'll leave that for today's Democrats. What? They're the ones who push this idea that you are guilty based on your existence. I don't believe in any of that. People prove themselves in all sorts of ways. And those who prove themselves to be bigots, whether they be Nick Fuentes or Rashida Tlaib, we say so. But it's based on what they do and it's based on who they are. And it's based on how they act and interact, not based on how they were born. These are the facts as presented. And IU shouldn't have anybody who does this. And these students in the classroom would disagree? What does happen to them? You don't care, Jessica Adams. Well, it's uncomfortable for them, but that's how they learn. Let it be uncomfortable for you, Jessica Adams. This is bigotry that you're teaching in the classroom, and there's no place for it. None. So I'm happy to see it. You put out this ridiculous pyramid.

48:38

of covert white supremacy and overt white supremacy. And you put Make America Great Again. And then you put police murdering POC, meaning people of color. Oh my gosh. Like police are just going around going bang, pow, ping. You sick twisted freak. What's on here? Denial of white privilege and denial of racism. What if it's not existing in the conversation that you're having? You can't even have a conversation. You just have to accept your guilt. They should throw you out of Bloomington. They should throw you off the campus. Pam Wayne should stand up and say, we don't do this. This is not who we are. This is an education. This is garbage. And to any IU student who wants to learn this garbage, go to Columbia. The university, not the country. Oh, gosh. And to any student who thinks they're in charge of their curriculum, the answer is, nah. No, you're not. You're not. You know why? Because you're not smart enough. Do you know why? You think this is curriculum that's worthwhile. You're a student. It's okay to learn. But I need the professors, and I need the administration. I need Pam Whitten to make sure it happens right. This is a good first step, President Whitten. Good work. Matt Baer out today. Paul Bowden lost his traffic. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Your local Toyota dealer has great deals available today on Tacoma, Tundra, and Forerunner with the space and features for any adventure. It means driving for less, with available hybrid options, delivering great MPGs without sacrificing power. And it means trading for more. Toyota is known for building long-lasting vehicles, meaning your truck will hold its value for years to come. Shoptojota.com to find out more. Toyota, let's go places. It is cold. We've got some in the 20s and wind show values into the teens. The snow tapers off by about midday, and we begin to see mainly cloudy skies. It's going to be breezy today. High's only near 35. Tonight, partly cloudy, another cold one, down to 24. And we'll start off early Tuesday morning again with those temperatures, feels like temps in the teens, partly to mostly cloudy for the day on Tuesday. High's near 41, pretty breezy. And then back up into the 50s on Wednesday and Thursday. and even 60s for the end of the week. Yeah, that it's going to be 60s by Saturday is just nutty. But this, what we saw last night and even still seeing, we're still seeing some flurries this morning. Yeah. Was this the expect? I mean, you had mentioned flurries and I mocked flurries and all that, but, you know, like the Spanish Inquisition, you know, nobody, nobody expected this.

51:42

respects the Spanish Inquisition. Was this more than you thought that was coming because this has been kind of nuts? I think it was more than what I thought on Friday, but I worked Sunday morning, and we get some of those short-term computer models in those high-resolution ones when we get closer to an event. And I knew that we would definitely see accumulating snow. So I did say early Sunday morning that we would get for Monday about one to two inches across parts of central Indiana. So, yes, the thinking changed from Friday to over the weekend, if that makes sense. It's why you need to follow Tara Hastings everywhere. That's right. You have to follow work constantly. Right. Just show up, knock on her door, and be like, hey, what's the weather right now? She'll tell you. Yeah, exactly. I always say don't let this be the last forecast you see. Yeah. Also, do not, do not show up and knock on her door. That is weird. Please don't. Yeah, that would be very uncomfortable. That is inappropriate. Yes. Inappropriate. So as Tara and I are working, I'm going to share something. I'm just, I'm not going to share it all. I'm just going to share a bit of it. Can I share a little bit? Yes. Okay. Tara and I have been talking about where do you draw the line? If we're going to do a podcast, if we're going to engage in these conversations, this joy, where do you draw the line? And where is it over the line? Where is it too much? Where is the level of uncomfortable, right? I do love awkward, but there's a level of uncomfortable. And you don't want to go there. And what is that level? So Tara Hastings says, listen, the line is whenever you bring up hammer and nodule. Those guys creep me out. Please don't ever bring them up. And I said, that is. That is wrong to say about Hammer Nigel. And she's like, if you think that's bad, wait to hear what I have to say about Ethan Hatcher. I'm like, he does Saturday evenings. What are you getting? And she's like, don't ever, don't. I refuse to talk about it. And that's all she'd say. So I don't know what happened there, but clearly there's a story. There is a story. That's good. Yeah. No more Hammer Nigel. Yeah. Fe and a pu-p-pah. That's what we say. That's what we say to them. But we're going to work on this podcast. And we don't know. I don't know. Maybe January, January 2026. Maybe it happens. That's a good month. Right. By the way, people in the chat room saying, too late, Tony, you've been creepy with Tara Plenty. No, no, no. I've been awkward with Tara Plenty. Never creepy. Never. Awkward, yes. Borderline, yes. Creepy, no. Right. I could do creepy, except no. We don't do that here. Awkward, we do often. Part of my charm. See, that's awkward. That right there is, that's how it works. You're doing great work, Tara. Thank you. Great. Enjoy the cold. Oh, you're a delight. Tara Hastings.

54:55

Wish TV meteorologist. Thank you. I appreciate you, as always. 24 degrees in the American Standard Heating Weather Center. The time is 8.11. A couple things to get to. First, the shutdown might end. Uh, might, but the, the Democratic Party is outraged about this. Tony Katz 93 WIBC, good morning. You had eight Democrats come over, including, uh, I should say seven Democrats and one independent Angus King out of Maine. Vote, uh, to, uh, get, uh, moving on a deal to end the government shutdown. Democrats got nothing. You will see spending advance. They will keep this going into 2026. September 2026, that's when they'll talk about continuing resolution again. You know, two months before the midterms. Nothing political about that. Can't believe Republicans did that one right there. You should have said it was for November 4th day after the midterms. That's when it should have happened. And also, you're going to see now spending. on veterans and spending on keeping the government open, all these things happening. And Democrats are upset. Chuck Schumer is still a no, still saying, nope, not going to be in favor of this, not going to vote for this. Lots of Democrats saying, we can't have this happen. We didn't get any advantage. The trolls on social media are infuriated. You caved. You gave up. We're going to remember this. You bent the knee. We're not going to vote for you again. They are very okay with mom and dad not getting paid and kids going hungry. Is this what they told us? They said the government shutdown was causing kids to suffer and they were starving. Now Democrats want to keep it going. They want kids to starve. It's who they are. It's what they do. It's not my fault for noticing. We have to remember this. We have to keep this in everybody's front brain, right? Right there in that frontal area until November 3rd, 2026, when the midterms come. So that's just one of the stories going on. Gary Dick's about to join us from inside Indiana business. We'll go over the latest going on around the state and went out to dinner on Saturday. Good Lord, this whole area is growing great. Great things are happening, but we have a problem. And I'm going to discuss that problem in very clear-cut terms at 841. Do not miss it. It is important, and you will be better off for it. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Right now, your local Toyota dealer has great deals available on some of the most reliable trucks on the market, like the off-road ready Tacoma, rugged full-sized tundra, and legendary forerunner, each with the space, tech, and features to handle it all, from the work site to the trails. It means driving for less, with efficient hybrid options available, extending your overall driving range and delivering great MPGs, meaning bigger savings at the pump without sacrificing power.

58:26

And it means trading for more. The Tacoma and Tundra are ranked number one and number two in resale value over all vehicles, according to Kelly Boo Book, which can mean thousands more than average right back in your pocket when it's time to trade in. That's Toyota affordability. Buy smart, drive for less, and trade for more. Shop Toyota.com or your local dealer for deals and details. Vehicles projected resale value is specific to the 2026 model year. For more information, visit Kelly Blue Books, KB.com. Toyota brand average resale value is 53% versus the average vehicle at 45%. Toyota, let's go places. The growth of Indiana, exactly how do we get to the places we want to be, and why does it seem that so many seem... opposed to the growth to begin with. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. Gary Dick joins us inside indiana business.com on the Twitter X at I-I-B. Personally, you can follow Gary at Gary Dick, G-E-R-R-R-Y at Gary Dick on the Twitter X. drone manufacturing now. We're talking about the whole nuclear conversation, although there is a counter conversation to the SMRs, the small modular reactors, and we need to be discussing all of it to make sure we know if this is something in a direction we want to go. But let's start with this. This came out last week. First American nuclear.

59:51

Fanco, they are going to move their corporate headquarters and now bring a nuclear energy park to Indiana, $4 billion investment, 5,000 jobs. Listen, I'm very critical of this IEDC, and certainly I'm critical of us spending money on picking winners and losers. But I like attracting businesses. This is a monster. Walk me through the steps here. Yeah, big announcement. As you say, Tony, First American Nuclear doing business as Fanco announcing last week at the Purdue Nuclear Energy Summit that it will move its corporate headquarters to Indiana. In particular, they're going to place the corporate headquarters in Carmel. And they're looking at five sites around the state of Indiana to create what they're billing as the first closed fuel cycle nuclear energy park. where essentially they'll be the first, they say, to reprocess and reuse, spent nuclear fuel on site. It's a new concept. The company has been around since the late 1990s, so it's not new in the world of nuclear energy. And those who are organizers and the key leaders have been around for a lot longer than that. So there is a level of experience there, even though a lot of folks have not heard of this company. But a big investment. by Fanco, and a big step forward for the Brown administration's vision of creating this hub, if you will, for nuclear energy development and deployment, especially as it comes to these small modular reactors or SMRs, the technology that a lot of states around the country are chasing. So this investment here, $4,000,000,000 jobs, do we know where it's going to? And has that town, municipality, county, had any thoughts positively or negatively about it? Yeah, not yet. And to be sure there's going to be, there will be those who oppose this. Certainly the Citizens Action Coalition, generally speaking, not on this particular... project per se, but this whole concept of nuclear energy development and SMRs, they are not in favor of that and we'll hear more about that. We don't know where it's going to go. They're looking at five potential sites. They have not identified those. I think they're going to be in more rural areas around the state of Indiana as this moves forward. But I think in terms of incentives, that's a key part of this, that the legislature this past session. approved some measures to make it more attractive for nuclear energy companies to locate in the state, some tax incentives that companies can apply for. And that was part of the reason that Fanko chose Indiana. Indiana, if you look out there more broadly in the nuclear energy space, is being mentioned among the top five states in the country when it comes to nuclear energy development. Virginia and Utah, I think Texas. Pennsylvania, among other states as well. But Indiana is in that conversation now. You mentioned the investment, $4 billion, $5,000 jobs. Those are some big numbers. Got a long way to go to see that to reality, but we'll see where it goes. And then, you know, they call it a nuclear energy park, but I think it needs a better definition. Are we talking about the actual creation of nuclear energy in Indiana? Are we talking about the infrastructure by which they're going to run the company?

1:03:11

Well, I think, and without getting into the particulars, which is very complicated and complex, they will be generating nuclear energy there, and the waste that comes from that process is going to be reused instead of a traditional nuclear energy site. that energy would have to be disposed of. And that's where a lot of the opposition to some of these nuclear plants come from. This concept has it being repurposed, reused into these SMRs going forward. So in terms of the particulars, it's a very complex process that we're going to hear a lot more about because as they begin to identify sites for this park that you mentioned, you're going to have a lot more discussion along those lines. Talking to Gary Dick from Inside Indiana Business.com on the Twitter exit IIB. I would ask you, what is more exciting? The cults pulling it out and being eight and two in Berlin or Buckees coming to Greenwood. We turn now to Gary Dick, our officials, Bucky's correspondent, to tell us more, Gary? Oh, brisket. That's all I can tell you. Have you had the Buckees brisket, Tony? Son, are you asking me this question? Oh, I mean, what the hell is happening here? Have I had the Bucky's Brisket? Okay, never mind, Tony. My bad. My bad. Oh, boy, what a faux pa. What a faux pa. By the way, that's a very Gary Dick thing to say, faux pa when talking about Bucke's Brisket. The guy is everywhere, I tell you. Oh, hey, you know, it's a toss-up. I love that Colts game yesterday. Didn't look pretty, but they got it done. But Buckees, you talk about a story that is generating excitement. You know, we posted on our website and IBJ.com as well as Inside Indiana Business.com and the numbers blow up. Everybody's interested in Buckees. They've got a brand. They've got a vibe about them. Apparently two locations they're looking at. Mickey Shuey had the story at IBJ. uh... com but uh... potential sites uh... north of indianapolis the other south we'll see where that goes but it's they they are a gold mine and uh... they're a generator of a lot of buzz for sure okay and and by the way uh... still uh... to this day i will say it again and i'm nothing against bucky's although i am a wawad guy um big hoffa's barbecue in westfield which full disclosure i do some work with um yeah brilliant Of course, Hank smoked briskets. Both of them, I think, closed on Mondays. So terrible for me to talk about them today. Yeah, they're closed. The brisket is solid. The smoked corn beef is a revelation. at hanks and buckies does not come close i just want to make sure i'm clear about this i will take on all comers i will fight i will hurt people big hafas hanks and we've got a couple other great uh barbecue places here so i'm not anti buckies i want them to come i just want to say great while you're traveling sure but if you're taking the family out

1:06:15

We've got some local places, and that's where you got to go first. I just'll make sure I'm clear about that, Gary Dick. That's well said. That's well stated, Tony. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Gary Dick, Inside Indiana Business.com. Appreciate you. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Your local Toyota dealer has great deals available today on Tacoma, Tundra, and Forerunner, with the space and features for any adventure. It means driving for less, with available hybrid options, delivering great MPGs without sacrificing power. And it means trading for more. Toyota is known for building long-lasting vehicles, meaning your truck will hold its value for years to come. Shop Toyota.com to find out more. Toyota, let's go places. Dow futures are up 175, NASDAQ features are up 371. Why? Shutdown ending. Maybe. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. And there's an interesting, interesting corollary here. We'll get to it. So that's where the futures are for the Dow and for the NASDAQ. We have the first vote done in the Senate. We will see a second vote. I'm assuming, I don't think that's today. I think that's tomorrow. Now, what's weird here is that they're going to vote to reopen the government, but that's not how this is going to work. Because this vote is on three different spending bills. It's different. The Democrats have caved. Chuck Schumer has lost and there's a lot of anger amongst the political left that you never should have given in. So to understand this, the political left in the main believes that mom and dad shouldn't be paid and kids should starve so they can get political power. That's who they are. Remember this. The midterms are November 3rd, 2026th. Just telling you. Because the Senate is changing this, it will then have to go back to the House. Now, the House, for the most part, doesn't have a problem here. There are going to be some Democrats who come over. You got to assume Thomas Massie is going to be a no because it's the overall spending amount, him and Rand Paul doing the same things there. I do have to ask myself what Victoria Sparts is going to do. I'll reach out about that today, but you have to assume and pass the House, and then it'll be signed by the president. But that might not be until Friday. Now we have to ask the question. Friday is November 14th. That will put us less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving. Do air traffic controllers get paid in time to get back on the job to get things ramped up to then allow the regular amount of flights for the holidays? Because I've been saying this now for the past week and I'm still saying it. You better tell grandma she's not coming for Christmas. I'm sorry, Thanksgiving. Christmas might be fine.

1:08:58

And you may not be able to get to her. That's just the way this is. Everyone must be preparing. Anybody flying today? It's going to be rough. Do not take it out on the people at Indianapolis International Airport. This is not on them. This is not on them. Do you not take it out on the people of TSA, even though I'm totally opposed to the TSA. I have no, no, no interest whatsoever. And this is not them. This is not the airport employees. This is not the people working at Chick-fil-A or at Tinker Coffee. No. This is not them. A little grace. Things are going to get delayed. Just saying it the way it is. Oil prices, $60 a barrel on the West Texas crude, $63.89 on the Brent crude. The 10-year treasury at 4.118, so we're now back over 4%. But here's the number that's fascinating. And tell me if I'm wrong. Gold is at $4,099 an ounce. It jumped $100 just today. And silver is now up to $50 an ounce. Right now at $49.97. Why? Because the government's going to reopen. You know what that means? More spending. There's the other side of that. There is the other side of that coin. Really is incredible. But I'm here to tell you that I'm very happy it's going to be reopened. We have a lot of work to do once it is open and changing a whole bunch of spending. But I am, this Thanksgiving thing is a real concern. I do not know if we get back in time. And what if there's any delay in the next couple days? It's not Friday. It's Monday. Can we ramp up in time? And these are big behemoth systems. And I'm not so sure. I would love to be wrong, though. So we'll keep our eyes on it. Tony Katz, 93W. Oh, you know what I didn't do? You know what? I'll save it. I'm going to share a story. I promise I'd share a story. And I will save it for what's coming up. It's about how one acts when they go out. in greater Indianapolis. And that includes you, Pendleton. Oh, I've got the story coming up. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Redemption Monday. Oh, come on, Tony. It's time to play America's favorite game. What the heck is that television theme song? It is Redemption Monday. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Producer Carl picks a television theme song from yesterday. I have to guess what it is. And if I get it wrong, he brings it back on Redemption Monday. My chance to get redemption in the eyes of you and my mother. I know this.

1:12:11

How did I get this wrong? Wait, I'm not sure I got this wrong. Of course you did. Of course I did. I would bring it back. What is that? I don't know what this is. Still. Okay, I'm going to go with the chat room here. Because we are live streaming at YouTube.com slash WIBC. And you can be a part of that. They're the only people who can help, unless my wife texts. She can help too. This is the theme song to Alf. This is Alf. Alf was the story of an alien dog possum hybrid. Come to Earth to study our ways. Uh, no, um, uh, Shatner fan. This was not the theme to the Joey Bishop show. Thank you. Thank you. Um, as long as it wasn't the theme to the Peter Lofford show, because that guy had no talent. No, no, no, no. You're a brother-in-law that does not make you talented, Peter Lafford. I'm sorry, it's just the way it is. So I, by the way, I've got much more to get to on Tony Katz today. Amber Duke, the daily caller scheduled to be with me starting at noon. Will this shutdown actually be a shutdown? What to learn from it. And stock Republican. Is that what Steve Bannon called me? Oh. Oh, those are riot words, Steve. Good gosh, man. My conversation about Scott Bessent seems to have touched a nerve, but I'm right, and I'm going to defend it. Not even mad at Steve Bannon. I reached out to him. Good stock. That's what he called me, right? Stock Republican? Who are you? What is that? That is just... Oh, standard stock. Call me standard stock. That is just rude. Speaking of rude, actually, this one's truly rude. Oh, the other one's rude, too. I share a story. I share a story that I had two fantastic meals this weekend. First, I'm in the Fisher's area and I end up... at an Indian restaurant. I cannot remember the name of it right now. It's going to drive me nuts. I thought it was fantastic. They did a buffet. I was super, super happy. The desserts, no. Punjabi Tadka? That's it. Punjabi Tadka. Very impressed. Very, very, very impressed. Impressed with the price, impressed with the food, impressed with the selection, impressed with all of it. Had a buffet, walked away happy, next day, happy. I'm fine. So far, the desserts, no, just way too much sweetness and not enough flavor. The food, total amount of flavor, was very impressed. Love the Indian food scene in India. It's spectacular. That evening...

Join friends at a place in Pendleton, which is adorable, by the way. The main street in Pendleton is fantastic. And there's an Italian place there called Catelloos. Terrific. The barata and puff pastry. was excellent. The Caesar was fantastic. I ordered the lamb. I have, oddly enough, lost my taste for lamb. I don't know when this happened, but this is like the third time. I'm like, you know, it's not the lamb. It's me. It's me. It's just not the same for me anymore. It's okay. Things change. You live and learn. It used to be I didn't like spice. Now I do. I didn't like ice in my drinks. Now I do. Things change. It's totally fine. Food was excellent. And the affigado afterwards was brilliant. Do you know what an affigado is there, producer, Carl? No, but I do know Catello's. It's great. Fantastic. Catello's is fantastic. I have no connection to them whatsoever. Fantastic. An a fagado is gelato is gelato that you then pour espresso over. So do it as, I would do it as vanilla in the gelato, and then it's got the espresso, and it is such a good after-dinner dessert. So it's still light, but it's still got the sweet and it has these flavor. Perfect. But there I am. And I'm not calling people out by name. I'm wearing a jacket because it's Catello's. And my friend's wearing a jacket. It's Cotellos. And our wives are dressed perfectly because it's Cotellos. And there were people there in hoodies. No.

Stop thinking that being comfortable matters. I know. Maybe I shouldn't have named the place, but I had to name the place because I wanted to give them the props. Your comfort is meaningless. Your respect for self or respect for others, that's everything. No, you don't get to wear a hoodie to a place like that. No. Now, by the way, I don't speak for Catello's. You can dress any dang way you want. I, right? They're not throwing you out. I'm saying in any place that's got a little bit of a standard. This isn't Applebee's. Dang it. Respect yourself. Respect to other people. And if you say to me, wow, Tony, you sound like you're old and complaining. I'm talking about a standard. And the standards have gone to hell in a handbasket. And do you think we're all better off because of it? The answer is no. Put on a sports coat. act like a man do the same thing on a plane dear god and women you show up to a restaurant like that with a guy in a t-shirt or a guy in a hoodie that's the guy you're going to go home with could we get a little bit of self-respect in the room i'm talking about a standard that makes everybody better why is anybody arguing with me on this God Almighty. Don't show up there in a hoodie. Don't show. No, no, no. Listen, something could happen. You didn't know where you were going and you ended up there because things can happen. I'm talking about in the main. I'm talking about on the regular. Respect yourself enough. Respect other people enough. Respect the place enough. By the way, food's fantastic. Fantastic Catello's. Really well done. I'll catch you guys at noon. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart.
