A small electrical problem forces Air Force One to turn around 45 minutes into its flight to Switzerland. Tony Katz, 93 WIBC, good morning. That does not happen every day. And you're right to say, really? Yes. That is, um, I guess one could argue the rarer stuff taking place right there. They noticed the lights went out in the press cabin. And they said, okay, we're going to turn around and get on a different plane. And Karoline Leavitt's joking, saying, thank goodness we've got a $400 million plane from Qatar. It's still not funny. It's the Qataris, spending millions upon millions to lobby our government. It's a problem. But there's a series of problems. Getting hit from all sides. You've got to be aware of what's happening. So I assume by now the president has already halfway or further on his way to Davos, where they have the World Economic Forum, where it has been certainly an interesting reception. How dare you say this about Greenland? How dare you go after Greenland? Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada. It's a whole new world and we have to rethink allegiances, okay? I am still amazed by the people who are amazed that other world leaders and other nations aren't just falling in line. What do you think? What do you think is going to happen? You're playing a high-risk game. You're trying to get a result. I believe all this with Greenland is absolutely posturing, by the way. I made my argument yesterday. There's a deal to be made. It's just a question of how it's made. Now, if Trump walks away with no Greenland, after all this, that can be seen as weakness. For sure. But everything is in the realm of the Europeans know that you can't let Greenland fall to Russia and the Chinese. Everybody knows this. So what are we actually discussing here? This has been an attempt over the years, and in past years, the problem could have been seen as theoretical. The problem is here. actual and it's been here for a while. As a matter of fact, it's amazing there hasn't been more push from China and Russia to get Greenland. And they're not going to be so nice about it. And certainly life for the Europeans gets worse if they do. So I think that this is all just much to do about nothing. Trump's maximum pressure campaign, people reacting and responding in a way so they can look good to their bases at home because all politics are local. But Mark Carney's commentary, that's worthy of discussion. Exactly, what have the tariffs rock?

Because it would seem with Carney, we have an unrepairable, unrepairable, unrepairable, relationship. That's the way he's kind of playing it right now. But then again, he could just be trying to engage his own maximum leverage conversation, see if he can't get a deal to come back in the good graces. When you create the world where everything's a negotiation, everything is. And this is all much ado about nothing. This whole conversation regarding Greenland. But there are other things that get discussed there. And this is, by the way, part of the problem. The problem is there are those in our midst who don't see the world the way we do. Now, that's been true throughout time. But the people who don't see the world the way we do, one has to ask, how do they see it? And that they see is the idea of world government, the idea of why do we have this evil capitalism, we have enough wealth, and we can make sure everybody is taken care of. We've all seen that... Sometimes when people gain success, gain dollars, or come from dollars, there is this belief that somehow they know, that they are instilled with secret knowledge. Now, it isn't just people who have dollars. It is very often people who have nothing. Same concept applies. They know what's best. They know how to treat people. Now, the people with dollars, they do things that you can do with dollars, and the people without dollars, they become community organizers. But it's the same mathematics that's going along. So these are the issues, the things that get discussed in places like Davos, the people there discussing them are people who believe that they know best.

So to see that Trump, the Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, you have Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary, they're going, they're there. It's an interesting show of force, if you will. And it has, to me, I've been a little bit surprising. that they all decided to be there. They're not saying, no, we don't need to talk to these people. They're right there in their face. People like Howard Lutnick saying to Davos that your system has failed. What it is you keep attempting absolutely does not work. We should put an end to this nonsense. On things like, for example, green, a New Deal, green energy, green madness, et cetera. His quote, globalization is a failed policy. That is a good thing to have said. Now, I said of Howard Lutnick when he became Commerce Secretary that this is the guy who will end up taking the fall if things go south. He's the loudmouth. He's the guy who runs on emotion. He also has an incredible or fascinating, I should say personal story. And so far he's still there. Letting Scott Bessent take most of the credit and do most of the talking and then being there for, you know, dropping hammers. But this concept of globalization is one that affects all of us. these people who believe they know best because their infiltration has been successful through, for example, academia, which leads us to a walkout that happened across the country yesterday in schools, including locally. I know that it happens at Carmel High School. I'll get into that. Because there's a real question that administrators have to answer. And that question is, what exactly do you do here? Oh, don't worry. Next time I visit the school, I will have people give me dirty looks. What are you going to do? What are you going to do? Not have the conversation, honestly? That sounds nuts. Now, there are other things going on outside of Davos, but there's going to be a lot of news that comes from there later today. Trump, I don't know if he speaks today or tomorrow. But one of the stories is that the Chinese might be actually buying soybeans, which is great news for farmers. IBJ with the story, they fulfilled an initial commitment to buy 12 million metric tons of soybeans from the U.S. Now, is this going to last? Don't know. When you've got tariffs here and then tariffs there and the tariff comes off and tariff goes back on, tariff gets maneuver, it creates. a bit of uncertainty, and the shift in trade policy, here's the argument, creates high production costs. I would need our farmers to tell me that Trump's, you know, leapfrog tariff game is freaking them out. I would accept it. I'm not saying it's not happening. I just want to hear how.

Exactly how long does the NFL want a season to be? This was over there at NBC Sports, where Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, to placate. I'm not over it. They are talking about, he's talking about what the NFL is looking to do, and what they're looking to do is 18 regular season games. Tony Katz, 93 WIBC, good morning, great to be with you. But it's 18 regular season games, two preseason games, and every team every year will play one game overseas. So this experiment into Europe is not an experiment as much as it is the future of the NFL. So now I've got a series of questions for Mr. Kraft. If it's an 18 regular season game, regular game season, 18 game season, is that one by week or two? How many by weeks do these guys get to repair their bodies? Because you've now added a second game. You've gotten rid of a preseason game. So the ability to get tuned up, to see players, to be able to make determinations, that happens in the regular season, not beforehand. So now what is the expectation of coaches and exactly how much ramp do we give them now? If every team is going to play one game overseas, you mean talking about taking away a home game from everybody overseas? From everybody to play overseas? So can I ask why any city would spend a billion plus dollars to build a stadium for a team that isn't even going to play there a full season? You just want to be overseas anyway, so why are we putting any money in? And I'm the guy in favor of bringing the Bears to Northwest Indiana. Not if we're covering the total cost of the stadium, though. No, no, no. The Bears have to put skin in the game. That is my position from the beginning, and it still is. I'm willing to do a lot. I am not like others who are a no to everything. All of a sudden, everybody in Indiana is Thomas Massie. But you're going to change this all around. Okay, I get what you're trying to do. We're going to start seeing player contracts that are in the 5, 600 million range. You're adding more games. And then, as Fingers Malloy would discuss, my co-host on Eat, Drink, Smoke, and you'll hear about this this weekend. What are you going to do about the Thursday games? The Sunday to Thursday turnaround.

Is that still the best thing we should be doing? Add another game, remove preseason games. You want these guys to do overseas travel, and now you want them to do four day turnarounds? Three day turnarounds? Yeah, all of a sudden, I've never been this guy. All of a sudden, I'm like, the players aren't getting paid enough. NFL wants things, but I don't think, I'm questioning how they're going to make all these things happen without concessions in some other places. Usually you've got to help people work at a front. Some guys work the bodega while the other guys are counting whatever it is. They're counting in the back. That's usually the way it goes. Good Lord. We all of a sudden we took what's going on, Minnesota off the front page because we had to get into something else. It's got to at least be there every day until charges come. And the charges have to come all over the place. And yes, if you are from Somalia, you can get charged. And if you're from Sheboygan, you can get charged. And no one is immune if they've engaged in violating the law. And no one is special. And it's not racism. It's not bigotry. And oh, stop it already. We have determined that fraud, easy to see, is somehow a subject that we can't address together because we have to make it political. That's the desire. If they're on our side, nothing has ever gone wrong. If they're on your side, they have to die. Which is no way to run a country, by the way. This goes to what happened with Don Lemon and these Bolshevik protesters who went into a church and disrupted church services. They're lying left and right. We didn't stop anybody from praying. Of course you did. You were asked to leave. You didn't leave. You were intimidating children. You were intimidating women. And one of you said, hey, if you get tough with me, if you push back on me, I'll start a fight.

First of all, buy guns, by ammo, get trained, and you better show up to your house of worship ready to go. These people will not stop. They are violent people. Where are the charges? Now you say to me, Tony, it's going to take a while for charges. You've got to build a case. Okay. Where are the arrests? We saw what happened. Where are the arrests? Well, you don't arrest them because that's what they want. What do you mean that's what they want? I don't care what they want. It's a very weird thing. Oh, no, no, you can't react because you see, that's what they want. When you're talking about a troll on social media, yeah. When you're talking about people violating the First Amendment and intimidating Christians, I don't care what they want. They go to jail. You would be arrested. You would be arrested. Go to your local supermarket and start screaming at people. Let's see what happens. And that's just a supermarket. You were a little inconvenienced while buying a half loaf. This is church.

We're gonna simply sit by in America while Christians aren't allowed to pray? No, no, no, no. We said this during COVID and there's a police taking down license plates of people parked at their church. You understand that if you're a cop and you actually took down license plate numbers at churches during COVID, you should be ashamed of who you are as a person. Oh, don't tell me about your tough job or following orders or anything. No, no, no, no, no, no. You actually took down license plates of people going to church? Because they were praying? You didn't have reason to think they were in there creating some kind of organization to take down American society. Well, that would be different. These people said, yeah, there's a virus, but you know. We've got this deal with God and we're going to stick with it if that's all right by you. And we're in the country that says, you go stick with your deals. We're taking down license plate numbers. So gross. Where are the arrests? You don't have charges? Where are the arrests? Where's the questioning? Where is anything that makes me believe that we don't live in a country where if the political right does it, Their whole world is over when the political left does it. Oh, well. I don't want to hear Pam Bondi. I don't want to hear Harmeet Dylan. And I'm disgusted with Pam Bondi. I'm not disgusted with Harmeet Dylan at all. I just don't want to hear the, uh, it's coming or working on it or the tough guy stance. I want the action. And I didn't say to make up the action. We saw what happened. Go. There's video everywhere. So there was a walkout. Now, I want to start by making sure we understand that teachers and administrators who allow students to walk out of school need to be reprimanded. And I mean this for Carmel High School as well. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. It was the Free America Walkout. It was a protest of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. And who was it put together by the Women's March? Those anti-Semites, those bigots, are now organizing to get your kids to walk out of school. Let's take it to Carmel High School because this is the story from You Are Current, Current in Carmel. Approximately 300 Carmel High School students participated in a nationwide free America walkout on January 20th to protest the policies and actions of President Trump and his administration. It was organized by the Carmel Young Progressives, a newly launched school group. And then some students made remarks. Now, I don't go after high schoolers. It's not the thing that I do. Although I do note that one student is holding a sign that says never again is now without due process, it's just kidnapping. Well, first, are we talking about for citizens or non-citizens, but I don't want to argue with somebody who is not an adult. Let me get to the part two. Never again is now. Never Again is a discussion and is a bit of sloganeering regarding the Holocaust. You let your kid hold a sign that says never again is now. They don't even know what that is. Again, I don't want to get myself too angry here at children, students who may not understand what it is that they're doing. But never again and now is a pretty disgusting thing to be carrying regarding immigration and customs enforcement, regarding people who have broken the law, not people who have been shipped off to gas chambers. But again, let me focus where the focus needs to be. Administration, teachers, why are we allowing this? Well, the parents signed them out. Their parents signed them out. Okay, so they didn't just walk out of class. They didn't disrupt and make life difficult for the students who remains trying to ostracize them by not showing up pressure on them. Oh, you didn't go for the walk, huh? Now we know what you're all about. The parents signed them out so the teachers and the administration has no culpability here. Your job is to educate. not to help them learn how to be indoctrinated, because that's what this is. That's all that this is. Parents sign them out. Now, I'm not surprised to learn that there are many a parent in Carmel such a radicalized progressive that they would say, why does my kid need to learn better off their walking the streets in 23 degree temperatures?

I mean, talk about not thinking something through. But if in any way, the administration of Carmel High School, teachers at Carmel High School condone this activity, someone needs to get fired. Maybe a lot of people need to get fired. The fact that the students in this case, the students in this case, don't have an actual argument. They do have an actual feeling, though. That doesn't mean they get to act out on their feelings. It doesn't. It doesn't mean you get to disrupt school. It doesn't mean you get to say, look at me. You've got your feelings. Learn how to manage them. That's the lesson the parents need to be teaching. Is there a time to stand up? Absolutely. Could have stood up on the weekend. Could have stood up after school. Well, by disrupting school, we really sent a message. No, you didn't because ICE isn't going to stop because we have laws and they're being followed. Because we have people here illegally who have violated the law and that can't be allowed. And because you may want open borders with all due respect, I'm not getting into a debate with a 17 year old about policy. Why is it that I have more respect for you and want to protect you more than those people who are like, get out there and get out of school and why do you have to learn when it seems clear to me that the learnings may be the most important part of your day and clearly not happening enough? Why do I care more than your parents? Why do I care more than your teachers? Why do I care more than the administrators? I don't know, but I do.

I like it when people are paying attention. But I would like for people to pay attention to everything. If you cannot admit that there are people here have violated the law and that can't be tolerated, well, then it would be impossible to have a conversation with you, in which case I have to ignore you because you're playing an unsurious game and you're acting in an unserious manner. But you're also high school students and I'm not going to sit here and yell at you. But your parents? Administrators, teachers that allow this, condone this, emphasize this, support this. My God, we have a lot of firings to do in our education system in Carmel, Indiana. And we've got some parents who have a very, very odd look at the world. And an odd look at their own children. I want to share some of this Mark Carney with you. Because what Mark Carney is now saying, the Prime Minister of Canada, is that we're so bothered by Trump and by the tariffs that we're rethinking the world order. And you say to me, well, whoa, Tony, I thought there was no world order. There is one that they're trying to build. They've always been trying to build. But they've always said there isn't one. And now they're admitting it. Well, listen to what got said. Friends, it is time for companies and countries to take their signs down. Four decades. For decades, countries like Canada prospered under what we called the rules-based international order. We joined its institutions, we praised its principles, we benefited from its predictability. And because of that, we could pursue values-based foreign policies under its protection. We knew the story of the international rules-based order was partially false. that the strongest would exempt themselves when convenient, that trade rules were enforced asymmetrically. And we knew that international law applied with varying rigor depending on the identity of the accused or the victim. This fiction was useful. An American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods. open sea lanes, a stable financial system, collective security, and support for frameworks for resolving disputes. So we placed the sign in the window. We participated in the rituals. And we largely avoided calling out the gaps between rhetoric and reality. This bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition. Over the past two decades, a series of crises in finance, health, energy, and geopolitics have laid bare the risks of extreme global integration. But more recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as weapons. Tariffs is leverage. Financial infrastructure is coercion, supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited. You cannot live within the lie of mutual benefit through integration when integration becomes the source of your subordination. It is not surprising to me that nations would take a look at tariffs and moves from President Trump and push back. I am still, as I've discussed over the last days, always stunned when I see people amazed. that a nation would push back. Well, they don't have the leverage. They don't have the this. They have running to China, which is an argument that the Canadians seem to want to make. But the overarching part of his argument is we had a deal and you broke the deal. The argument counter to that is, what made you think the deal was so good for us?

We're the ones the world over who got the raw end on the trade. We're the ones who were told that we always had to give this or give that or look the other way on this because after all, we were the biggest. This is, I'm giving you the Trump argument. I'm giving you the MAGA argument. Why is it that somehow we're always the ones who did it wrong? We were the ones giving everything. What do you think it took to have those free shipping lanes to make it easy for you to engage in trade? Is there no respect for the hardware created, the technology that it took, the mines we had to develop? Never mind the cost of the steel and the wire. We utilized the methodologies that we protected to help benefit us. It shouldn't benefit us? Oh, no, we were too mean about it. All of a sudden, it's Mr. Saturday night. Yeah, you bet you could have been nicer. The entire MAGA Trump philosophy is, what has nice gotten us? When we were nice, you abused the living crap out of us. Now, I argue. that I'm not being a tariff guy, that there were 900 other ways that we could have done this. 900 other ways that this could have happened. And I actually don't take tariffs off the table. I would have been more targeted with the tariffs. It is the blanket methodology of tariffs and certainly basing it on trade deficit conversations, which makes no economic sense because they're two very different things.

But if I had done one of the other ways, here's a question for all of us as we head into work or have our breakfast. Would the Canadians have reacted exactly the same way? Because after this speech at Davos, I'm saying yes. All politics are local. And this is Carney speaking to his people back home saying, yeah, we're not going to take it from those Americans. All politics are local. You can't take it personally. You have to understand its purpose. But if you think Canada runs to China and we're going to allow the Chinese investment just north of us or opportunities just north of us, I don't think Canada is ready for what happens next. One thing begets another. I assume right now it's just blustery talk. And I'll keep an eye like you should on how their relationships with the enemy of even them build. What is Toyota affordability? They want to engage charges if you say something they don't like on social media platforms, which brings us to a story out of Florida where the police showed up in somebody's house because, hey, you posted this on Facebook. We just want to understand. It turns out that they were a former candidate and they're complaining about the mayor and making claims. Police showed up to the house. Hey, did you post this? You know, we don't do that and there needs to be a serious investigation. I don't care what the person said. Unless there is a death threat involved, the mayor didn't like it. Tell the mayor to work a dairy queen. Sometimes mayors, you're going to hear things you don't like. You want to talk about things I don't like. Check out my social media feeds. Holy hell. Good to be with you. The president has arrived. Now, as I have his schedule, he is expected to speak this morning, 8.30 a.m. Eastern time. So some 16 minutes from now. I do not know because of the delay whether or not that is still the timing. So we're going to keep an eye on and an eye out for it. If he starts talking, I'm going to bring it to you. And one can expect that this speech is not just about Greenland and just not about the economy. This is about what are we doing to protect ourselves and protect each other from the threats that are real? There's going to, I assume, be a free speech conversation. There's going to be a trade conversation. There's going to be a put an end to the abuse conversation. There's going to be a pushback on Emmanuel Macron and on Mark Carney, Emmanuel Macron, the prime minister or the president of France and Carney, the prime minister of Canada. And then there's going to be the establishment of what you have wanted America's demise is not going to happen. We are maintaining our strength. We are maintaining our posture and we will not yield. Get used to that. Because that's a huge part of this story. We're talking about a threat. We're talking about a threat. And there are some people who want to deny that. Now ask yourself why they're denying it. Where's the money? Where's the opportunity? Where's their vision and their fallacy about what kind of society is actually good and valuable? And on the view, she made a startling comment. to Sunny Hostin and the rest of the hosts there. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. She made the claim that growing up in Columbus, Ohio, she had her mother protecting her from seeing black men who were lynched. She said that on the show. The military wouldn't allow black families to live on the base. So you had to live an apartment. And you couldn't take a bus. You couldn't afford a car. You walked. Your dad's walk to the base. And sometimes we would go from, you know, tree shade to shade to get back to the apartment. My brother and I and my mom with bags. And my mom would go, don't look, don't look. And she'd pull us away. Wow.

Because there is someone hanging from a tree. Now, that's horrifying. This was Ohio. And as a matter of just public record, there were no lynchings that took place in Ohio past 1911. Lynchings happened. We shouldn't deny history. That would be nutty. But there's a real question as to whether this happened. Over at Outkick, they noted that she wrote a book, a memoir, which had a tremendous number of stories about sex, tremendous number of stories about cocaine. Racism is only mentioned twice, cocaine 16 times, sex 30 times. including some intimacy with the late comic Richard Pryor. The question is, did this happen? Everywhere you look and everywhere you turn, we get into certain people engaging race as a way of saying you're bad. I'm not bad. Kids aren't bad. I don't think you're bad. But that the country is bad. I was asked about this on Newsmax yesterday, and it was the last just a few seconds that they had. Tony, quickly, what do you think? I said, what do I think? How does one respond to actress Pam Greer saying such a thing? The only thing that I could ask myself in that moment I asked out loud is, At what moment do we say it's better? It is a weird argument that gets made that we take a look at history and we say that we are still guilty of it. Slavery happened. Slavery happened in the United States. People who had black skin were held as slaves. We never go the step further because it doesn't fit narrative that they were sold into slavery by people with black skin. And they were held as slaves by people with black skin. We want to deny history we can, but it doesn't make for a good story. It makes for a dangerous future. Slavery was the state of the world for a millennia. And there are still in this world people who are slaves. We don't seem to care much about them. But we sure do want to be able to say that even today, everybody is guilty of what came before. And that is just not true. The German child born today is not responsible for the Holocaust. Denying that the Holocaust happens, well, that's a problem. At what moment do we admit we got better? At what moment do we admit that we made changes? And this is far better. At what moment do we say, yeah, we don't do that anymore? What moment do we acknowledge our own reformation and say good? Now what else can we do? At what moment do we say we, the people in order to form a more perfect union, meant just that, the constant striving.

But that is not the conversation Sunday hosted and Whoopi Goldberg bring. Their conversation is you are guilty. We are guilty. Everything is guilty. It's a bad conversation. And I want to put forth for the record that a color of skin does not create any level of expertise. My religion does not make me an expert on the Holocaust, ladies and gentlemen. It never has and it never will. And being black does not make one an expert on slavery. And being Hispanic does not make one an expert on this. And being gay does not make one an expert on that. Being Christian does not make one an expert on the other. That isn't how it works. What an awful thing to think and say. And what a thing to say because I have named the characteristic. You can't then speak out against it or oppose it. Also nonsense, which we will have none of here. Why can't we discuss what has gotten better? Discuss what has been, discuss what has gotten better, and then discuss how we make it even better from there. That, to me, seems logical, rational. This should be the way we want to raise our kids and build a society. That isn't what Sonny Host and Whoopi Goldberg and the View want. And they have all these suburban offals watching and clamoring and clapping and not one of them ever asked, wait a second. How old is Pam Greer? When did she say these lynchings happen? Linging's happened? Did they have lynchings in Ohio? When did they have a last lynching in Ohio? No one. Just guilty. By the way, what is an awful? Have you not heard the term awful? A-W-F-U-L, and awful is an affluent. Let me see if I got this right. Awful is affluent, white, female, urban, liberal. Liberal white women. It's a bigger problem than we know for reasons we have to dig into. It's really a societal. And it's actually the world over. Oh, fascinating data. I'll get into it. Dow futures are down 143. Getting ready to speak to the World Economic Forum, that should be starting, I believe, any moment. And when it does, I will bring it to you to the extent that I can if it does indeed start while we're still on the air. Oil price is up, not surprising right now, $60.71 on the West Texas crude, $65.21 on the Brent crude. And then we have the 10-year treasury in the 4-2s and climbing 4.289, all this response to trade, a response to the Greenland conversation. I see this as reaction and not necessarily in any level of permanence. Time will tell. But I think that's what we're looking at here, and that's why we're seeing gold at now $4,874 an ounce.

Silver at 9453. Are we going to get 100 silver? Possible. Meanwhile, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, speaking in Davos. Inflation meaning low growth and high inflation, a recipe for misery, failure, and decline. But now, after just one year of my policies, we are witnessing the exact opposite. Virtually no inflation and extraordinarily high economic growth. Growth like, I believe, you'll see very shortly, our country has never seen before. Perhaps no country has ever seen before. Over the past three months, core inflation has been just 1.6%. Meanwhile, fourth quarter growth is projected to be 5.4% far greater than anybody other than myself and a few others had predicted. Since the election, the stock market has set 52 all-time high records. So that's in one year, 52 records, adding $9 trillion in value to retirement accounts, 401ks, and people's savings. People are doing very well. They're very happy with me. Since my inauguration, we've lifted more than 1.2 million people off of foot stamps. And after four years, in which Biden secured less than $1 trillion of new investment in our country. Think of that $1 trillion, substantially less than that. In four years, we've secured commitments for a record-breaking $18 trillion. And we think when the final numbers come out, they'll be closer to $20 trillion of investment. That's never been done by any country at any time, not even close. Just over one year ago, under the radical left Democrats, we were a dead country. President Trump speaking in Davos at the World Economic Forum, talking about the things that he has done, the success America has seen, and saying to European nations, you've made some mistakes that are hurting you. including the conversation about mass migration. I bring it back now to the president. The whole thing rather than waiting 38 to 41 years in the old days. This is a...

Miracle taking place. Nobody thought it would ever be done by any country, but it's done by us. It was what made my first term the most successful four-year term that we've ever had from a financial standpoint. And now we've upped it. This is a 10-year program, not a one-year program, but you're allowed to deduct everything in one year. It used to be 38 to 41 years. With tariffs, we've radically reduced our ballooning trade deficit. which was the largest in world history. We were losing more than $1 trillion every single year, and it was just wasted. It was going to waste. But in one year, I slashed our monthly trade deficit by a staggering 77%. And all of this with no inflation, something everyone said could not be done. There were a couple of brilliant people that actually thought I was doing the right thing. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now they also come doing the right thing because they can't believe the numbers. American exports are now up by more than $150 billion. Domestic steel production is up by 300,000 tons a month and it's doubling. Over the next four months, it's doubling and tripling. And we have steel plants being built all over the country. Nobody thought they'd see that. Factory construction is up by 41%. What the president is doing is setting the stage for, you all said, you all felt you're all so angry at me. Here's where our success is. Now, he's not going, of course, highlight the issues, but our success proves that a plan where you actually focus on yourselves can work and then you can actually help your friends. But you can't help yourself if you don't actually do the things that help you. And that includes honesty with friends. It's going to be a conversation like that because he is going to tout American success and then he's going to lower the boom. And this isn't, it's Greenland will come up, but it won't be just about Greenland. Not only in the U.S., but virtually every country that came to make a deal, because as you've learned, when the United States goes up, you follow. It's really become a staple. In America, I've stopped the nation-wrecking energy policies that drive up prices while sending jobs and factories. to the world's worst polluters. They are indeed polluters under sleepy Joe Biden, near domestic oil and gas leases fell by 95%. Think of that. And they wonder, why was gasoline going up so fast? The gasoline actually topped $5 a gallon, and some places $7 a gallon, and more than 100 major power plants were violently shut down by incompetent people that had no idea what the hell they were doing.

Under my leadership, U.S. natural gas production is at an all-time high by far. U.S. oil production is up by 730,000 barrels a day, and last week we picked up 50 million barrels from Venezuela alone. Venezuela has been an amazing place for so many years, but then they went bad with their policies. 20 years ago, it was a great country, and now it's Got problems, but we're helping them. And those 50 million barrels, we're going to be splitting up with them, and they'll be making more money. Then they've made it a long time. Venezuela is going to do fantastically well. We appreciate all of the cooperation. We've been giving great cooperation. Once the attack ended, the attack ended, and they said, let's make a deal. Now, he's also been speaking highly now of Maria Corina Machado. Maria Maria Corina Machado, who won the Nobel Prize, gave the medal to President Trump. What she is allowed to do, the Nobel Prize committee would say she's still the winner, not Trump, and now is being discussed as possibly being the new leader of Venezuela, which now leads us to will we see the removal of Delci Rodriguez, the vice president, and the actual regime, which is still in place. That major regime is still there. 30 cents a gallon in most states, then we'll soon be averaging less than $2 a gallon. In many places, it's already down even lower, $1.95 a gallon. Numerous states are at $1.99, numbers that nobody has heard for years. Actually, since my last administration, we got it down to around those numbers. I've signed an order directing and approval of many new nuclear reactors. We're going heavy into nuclear. I was not a big fan because I didn't like the risk, the danger, but they have what the progress they've made with nuclear is unbelievable. This is a hit directly on Europe because places like Germany got rid of their nuclear power and then went to rely on Russia, which Trump said you're out of your mind. Now Germany just last week said we should have gotten rid of our nuclear power. I buy a lot. We're leading China by a lot. I think President Xi Jinping respects what we've done, in part because I've allowed these big companies building these massive buildings to build their own electric capacity. They're building their own power plants, which when added up, is more than any country, anywhere in the world is doing. I read recently an article in the Wall Street Channel that China is creating so much energy, and they are going to hand it till, but we're creating as much or more. and we're letting them do that. China can talk about creating all the energy they want. The Venezuela move and the Iran move keeps them from oil, and that's very bad for them.
