I should try that again. So how easy is it much better, Tony, to prove someone wrong? Well, when you are Washington State Senator Patty Murray. It is this easy. I've not heard one Democrats say defund ICE. Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. It is beyond time to defund ICE. An agency that does not care about the law. Does not care what courts say. thinks it is accountable to no one except for the president of the United States. We can't fund that kind of agency. We would be violating our oath of office, all of us, to fund an agency that just doesn't care about the law. Now, when I say, my gosh, that was easy. Someone else had put together the video. I was just using that from social media. But it is a great example of the brazenness of the lie. Just say no one said it. Just say it. And since no one in media and mainstream media is willing to push back because there is no actual media taking place, no journalism, I should say taking place. You can just say it and it's done. And people, well, yeah, no one's ever said that. Democrats in their own word, Democrat senators in their own words. Me, Tony Katz, in my own words, 93, WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. And that's why Republicans utilized reconciliation in order to get things done and get people paid. We're going to get into that story. But I start where I start. Why would Senator Patty Murray say no one has ever said that? Again, her words. I've not heard one Democrats say defund eyes. How is it possible? You didn't say here one Democrat say it. I just played three for you. How is it possible? You never heard it. So one of two things is going on. Either Senator Patty Murray is a liar or Senator Patty Murray is ignorant. Neither one is a good look. Just for the sake of clarity. I'll get into the reconciliation bill and what's going on and the anger that people like Chuck Schumer have, uh, poor you. Oh, I have it. I'll play it if you want. Oh, boy you. Yeah, Nancy Marchion did it better. Rest her soul. Illinois has passed some legislation in their house to help them keep the Chicago Bears. But.

may not be enough. It is what they're referring to as a mega projects bill. It's going to go to the state Senate for a vote. Of course, this is about whether or not the Bears stay in Illinois or whether or not our offer of Hammonds, our offer of Lake County, our offer of Indiana, northwest Indiana, is more attractive to them, which it is. Just as a matter of sheer dollars and cents, it's a much more attractive offer that will save them millions. And if these players aren't insane, they want to play in Northwest Indiana. So they're considering tax breaks right now for large scale construction projects. And so it's the tax breaks that may lead to the bears saying, okay, now it makes sense for us to stay. So we can at least state that taxes are punitive. That no one can stay in Illinois because the taxes are too high, and you need special consideration in order to be able to make things happen. Now, I'm okay with things like tax credits. We're not getting the money anyway, so why don't we create the scenario by which the businesses come and create opportunities for us, and then there's the economic future down the road? I like to think of all the jobs created and everything else more than tax revenues. But they are now at least trying. This was early morning stuff trying to get this done. It might be too little too late. It might still not dot enough eyes and cross enough teas. Right now, I still say the momentum would be for them to stay in Illinois. Senate Republicans adopting the budget resolution.

Long, long night of voting. So Congress will vote next month on budget reconciliation, and then we should have a reopened Department of Homeland Security. Lisa Murkowski and Rand Paul voted with the Democrats. Shamefully, I would note. What argument were you going to get, are you going to make to allow for this? Well, it's not right. No, no, it's totally right. You have an intransigent Democratic Party that is okay with watching children die because we don't have the safety and security measures in place. Now, if Republicans were actually interested in doing their job, that's how they would be talking about this and they would have been for months. They chose not to. They somehow think they're above it all. I didn't say anything that isn't factual and I didn't say anything that Democrats wouldn't say when it isn't factual. You are going to hear me more and more. Engage the following statement. It is as if the Republicans don't want to win. I cannot make sense of their positioning, of their messaging, of their total lack of campaigning. I cannot make it make sense. I can't make anything regarding how they're dealing with the war in Iran make sense in terms of messaging. When it comes to the total lack of talking about how secure the border is and the damage that people like Joe Biden did and the people like Gavin Newsom, you may have missed this story. City Journal with the reporting. These are the same people who engaged the reporting that started the avalanche, the waterfall of information regarding the fraud in Minnesota. The story from Christopher Rufo and Susan Crabtree, Crabtree does a lot of work at Real Clear Politics. Christopher Rufo has been doing this kind of work with City Journal and others for years, how Gavin Newsom subsidized the migrant invasion. And the story discusses that the California governor, Gavin Newsom, spent a billion dollars on nonprofits that are interested in dismantling the border and abolishing ice. Organizations I have referred to on this show for years, the NGOs, non-governmental organizations that taught people how to lie when they were coming across the border, claiming refugee status, claiming that they couldn't go back home, how to claim for asylum, teaching them how to lie so they can get into the country. And Gavin Newsom took a billion dollars worth of tax dollars to help that along. Gavin Newsom. pushed for the invasion of the United States. Gavin Newsom pushed for the people that killed Lake and Riley and killed Sheridan and Gordon and killed others. Gavin Newsom is responsible for making your kids unsafe regarding fentanyl. Republicans don't know how to do this? They don't know how to do this or they won't do this, which leads me to wonder whether or not they actually want to win.

Now, there's a whole Machiavellian play here regarding Donald Trump. I'll get to that another time. But for Rand Paul and Lisa Murkowski not to vote to fund this, they're just wrong. I like Rand Paul on a great number of subjects. This is not a moral position. You don't have a high ground position here. It is simply nonsensical. There were a series of amendments that were pushed forward from the Democrats to add to it, right? That happens constantly and consistently. The vast majority of them were voted down. There were amendments about cuts to snap, supplemental nutrition assistance program, health insurance company issues, all sorts of things. because what they wanted was Republicans on the record saying no to these things don't worry about it Democrats always know how to play the political game it is Republicans who seem unwilling to deal with the reality

If you want to have legislation that talks about how we deal with health care, about delaying dollars, denying dollars, et cetera, we'll go past that legislation. But it wasn't for this. Go past the legislation. You're not going to have anybody even question the idea. We might question the legislation. But go ahead, work together on that. If there are Republicans interested in working with Democrats on that, and Democrats who are having an honest conversation that doesn't involve that you're glad that a United Healthcare CEO got murdered in the middle of the street. Brian Thompson was his name. Well, then great. But it wasn't part of this legislation. And this legislation... The funding of these areas of the Department of Homeland Security. I'm glad it got through the Senate. Now it has to get through the House. Where are people like Hakeem Jeffries are going to play all tough guy? Hakeem, pipe down. Oh, I'm sorry. That's rude. Representative Hakeem Jeffries, pipe down. He told Trump to pipe down yesterday. Yeah, so. So now that's my new favorite expression. Pipe down is a winner. But we're not talking about winners. We're talking about losers like Gavin Newsom, which brings us to a number two conversation. Now, this came up. I was on Newsmax Tuesday with Carl Higby over there. And it was a conversation about gas taxes that if you are in Arizona, were they in O'Galas? Where were they in Arizona? You are buying a gas. That will be $4 a gallon, right? You've got the war with Iran. Gas prices went up because the oil prices went up per barrel. And right now you're talking about West Texas crude at $95 a barrel and the Brent crude at $104 a barrel. You're going to pay $4 a gallon. But if you go to just across the border into California, you'll pay over $7 a gallon. And if you look at averages across the state, the current California average for a gallon of gas is $5.83. The national average across the U.S. is $4.2. Why is that?

of the gas taxes of California. So when California talks about, look at the increase in gas prices, they only have to look at themselves. Here in Indiana, we should be talking about an extension of the gas tax. Sorry, the extension of the removal of the gas tax, better. James Talarico, the Democrat in Texas, who claims to be a moderate, he's now pushing for a suspension of the federal gas tax. Whatever he wants to do, Republicans should triple it and claim it as their idea. I'm going to speak to Governor Braun at 815. Of course, we should extend the lowering of the gas tax for another six months. Taxes are punitive. Taxes steal from the people. And states have to learn how to deal with less and say no to some nonsense programs that provide no value. But roads provide value for cars and for trucks. Cars and trucks are good. Or are you authoritarian who believe you don't have to listen to the court? Because we know if we give Democrats power, they will pack the Supreme Court. There will be 13 justices, and they will go further than that. They claim that they're going to do it within the confines of the law. Sure. Tony Katz at 93 WIBC. Good morning. Guys, an absolute pleasure to be here and be with you. Senate Republicans. No, I'm sorry. This wasn't Senate Republicans. No, my mistake. This was Republicans not fighting regarding the situation in Virginia and the redistricting, which passed 51% of the vote. The vote itself is the subject at hand. Redistricting is a lawful process. I've said so from the beginning. I don't change my mind. It is absolutely something that is allowed. However, each state has its own rules and regulations. And if those rules and regulations aren't followed, then how possibly can there be a vote? So Republicans are cheering because a circuit court in Virginia.

has said, hey, you know that vote you just had about redistricting that would change it from six Democrats and five Republicans to 10 Democrats and one Republican? Even though it's a 50-50 kind of state, you would have massive representation by Democrats. Hey, it's redistricting. Democrats won the governor's mansion. They control the House of delegates. They can do it they will. They brought it to the people and they voted except they didn't do it right. And we're a country, a nation of laws. So you've got the circuit court saying that the Democrats redistricting efforts don't hold. The election does not hold. So I believe it's Tazewell is this circuit court ruled the referendum unconstitutional. I believe that is how it is pronounced. Yeah, I think I've got that right. The story goes that the Democrats did not follow proper procedure. So it's the Republican National Committee that is suing the commissioner of the Virginia Department of Elections. And it declares that any and all votes for or against the proposed constitutional amendment in the April 21st, 2026 election are ineffective. The vote you just saw on redistricting, that result has been halted. It's Taswell, the Taswell County Circuit Court. I believe I'm pronouncing it right. The state of Virginia is going to appeal the ruling. Go right ahead. We said that there were going to be a series of lawsuits. We knew this was coming. But the argument holds that first, the ballot was improperly written because it talked about the fairness of elections. That's not the way a question is written, right? Because it's a ballot question. Secondly, there were specifics about when this concept came to the ballot and it came through a budget session and this is not something that can come through a budget session. Then it was a conversation about when the vote is held and that was held at an improper date and improper time based on the timing that their state constitution prescribes. Do I question whether or not 51% of the people voted for it? No. I don't. Do I question what it is they voted for? Yes, I do. Is it very clear that the question is written in a way that is meant to be a leading question, which is something we don't allow? Absolutely. It's not even a debate. Any Democrat who wants to debate it should be laughed at. You should laugh in their face, especially if they're your uncle and not invite them to Thanksgiving.

But the real question here is who is any Democrat to argue with the judge? The judge said, so the vote doesn't count. That's that. No redistricting in Virginia. Now, if Democrats don't want to listen to the judge, if Democrats don't want to listen to the judge, I want to know. who they think they are. I did not know that one could not be allowed to not listen to a judge. I thought whatever the judge says is final. Trump has to listen to every judge. And he does listen to every judge and he still called an authoritarian. Watch what Democrats do. Watch how they move. And you will see the difference. And you will see the the thesis of my conversations over the last few weeks. Democrats will push for full on communism in New York. They won't listen to courts in Virginia. And they still want open borders. And Republicans won't redistrict and won't fight. What is going on here? It's so obvious that we have an issue, which leads one only to one place. It seems to me, and it seems to be, that Republicans do not want to win. They don't want it. The question is why? Why don't they want it? Why will they not be aggressive about these things?

I don't have a good answer for you. All I can do is note that this very much seems to be the situation. Look at what Democrats will do, look at what Republicans won't do, and ask yourself what exactly is going on here. How is this remotely acceptable? Wait to see what they do in Virginia. We're also waiting on the Supreme Court to bring down some decisions. Some may come today. One of these is Louisiana versus Calais. This is about racial gerrymandering. This could change a lot of things. And it focuses on whether the Voting Rights Act violates the 14th and 15th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Now, the idea of racial gerrymandering is, well, you have to create districts so that people of a certain ethnicity, a certain group, a certain this, a certain that are represented. So you mean I have to create all black districts? That's how you draw a map? Who? It's going to get very interesting. There's conversations about homelessness. What's going on with child safety. A series of things to get to. Of course, the Bears, we're going to get to as much of it as we can. When I don't ask. your specific question. Let's try not to get too angry with me. I'm trying to get it all in as much as I can to the best of my ability. There's a story out of Fort Wayne that the pool that was used in the 2024 U.S. Olympic swim trials in Indy is for sale. So a group called Fort Wayne Swim and the Wellness Alliance and Wellness Alliance Incorporated. Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness Alliance Incorporated. Maybe that's the name of the whole company. Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness Alliance Incorporated. There it is. It's one company. I read it as too. My mistake. Unable to secure the funding for this project that would take the pool that they built inside Lucas Oil, bring it to Fort Wayne, and then be able to open up, I guess, this business. It was a $54 million project. So. They had raised money for this. It's a nonprofit. They raised more than $47 million. But I guess it wasn't enough. And now they're trying to sell the pool. The pool, equipment, and memorabilia. Okay. I'm here to tell you. I don't know where I would set it up. It's a pretty big pool. And I'm not even sure how you're going to fill it with water. But I think if Indianapolis wanted to have the greatest pool party that ever existed ever in the history of ever, you get the pool. I do not. In the middle of Grand Park, boom, pool party. One day only. I don't, I, I, I've been trying to think of what you do with this thing. How could you turn this into something? I don't, I don't know. I'm a pretty inventive cat. Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. It's a story you need to hear to believe, then grab your popcorn because there is more. Let me see if I have this all together for you. Because I really had a couple of things to get to. I start with where the media is regarding Iran. You'll notice, I haven't even brought it up this morning. There's an extended ceasefire. There is the Iranians saying that we've seized ships. They put out this video. Look at how we boarded this ship. One was a Panamanian flag. The other one, I believe, was Liberian flagged. They're putting out videos. Look how great we are. Sure you are. You're great. You're, you're, you're, you're, you're just terrific. But you've got MS now. The used to be a respected Joe Scarborough making, uh, this statement about what a terrible job we're doing. And then they, I handed over to his co-host, Jonathan Lemire over there, who, well,

goes full Vietnam on a conflict that is two months old. Listen. And yet here we are in Iran. We can't get out until the straight is open. And Iran is in no, no mood. No mood to open the straight on our conditions. Nothing conservative about this government. And this is also what happens when you surround yourself with people who simply tell you yes. You know, I think back to the remarkable story by Jonathan Swan and Maggie Heyerman in the New York Times a few weeks ago detailing how the decision was made to go to war. And even those aides who later tell reporters they had private reservations about what was going to happen, no one told Trump that. You know, yes, Dan Kane, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff outlined this could happen, this could happen, but no, no advocacy was made. And that's not necessarily his job, but no one else there did either. And, you know, JD Vance said that he had some reservations, but also made clear, hey boss, it's your decision. We'll just do it. And this was a rushed war, and it was short-sighted. They thought it was going to be over in days, a couple weeks at most. And now it is, no doubt, a bit of a quagmire. And we have Iran. Quagmire. Quagmire. Wow. You understand that these people could not win anything. They have no strength. They have no willpower. They have no sticktiveness. They have no drive. They won't do a thing. What is true is that years and years of thought about what would happen if you engage with Iran and how Iran would respond got ripped asunder in a matter of two weeks by the United States military with Israel.

If we want to have control of the straight, we have to go about killing the rest of these IRGC members. When that happens, this same guy, Jonathan Lemire, this same guy, Joe Scarborough, will tell you that this is war mongering, this is the worst atrocity they've ever seen, this is worse than the MyLy Massacre, they will invent things. This is a fantastic example of not reporting, but wishcasting. Not discussing the subject, discussing what they want the subject to be. Yes, it was President Trump's decision. John Kerry, the former Secretary of State says, you know, the Israelis wanted us to do this, and Barack Obama said no. Barack Obama was a wimp. who sided with the Iranians and why else would you give them the JCPOA? Let me say it again. In my view, he sided with the Iranians. I have never seen a more pro-Iranian administration than the Obama administration. Gave them everything that they wanted and pallets of cash. Maybe his saying no was exactly the wrong thing to do. Quagmire. freaking embarrassing. The only time someone should mention quagmire is that they followed up with giggity. And then, of course, it's a two-for. Democrats being Democrats there, you go to the Senate. And even though you have not heard thing one about ICE, the only thing you've heard about immigration and customs enforcement. is that they want to open an administrative office in Carmel, and there are a bunch of liberal women in Westper Clay who are all upset about it, clutching their pearls. And by the way, they're actual pearls, right? West Clay, but I call it West Per Clay. I mean, it's a whole West Carmel thing here. The people of West Carmel really think that they're fancy and uppity and, oh, you're on the east side of Carmel. Oh, no, no, no. The east side of Carmel guys is Carmel. And West Carmel is actually Zionsville adjacent. Just so we all understand each other. And the liberal women of West Carmel are the most dangerous women out there because they're absolutely fine with the Iranians still being in power. They're fine with Islamists coming to the country. They're fine with open borders. They are the weakest people. So weak, I'm surprised they didn't work in the Obama administration. No one's talking about ICE except for Democrats who need it to continue to be a story. Republicans are getting ready to act on their next big budget resolution. Not to help drive down costs, not to address the health care crisis, not to do something to help, no. Their grand plan to address our nation's challenges is asking the American taxpayer to give even more money out of their pocket, out of their bank account, to ICE and Border Patrol agents. Having to live with someone stalking you has got to be a just horrifying experience and a feeling of helplessness and anger and frustration and fatigue.

It wears on people. It's really ugly that others would do this. And another one of these is the cyberbullying. Now, we call it cyberbullying. I think you can call it other things. I think that maybe we're giving you a little bit short shrift when we use that term. And you can get away from some of these things by simply turning it off. But if you're somebody who lives in the real world and every day it's this flood of emails and every day it's this flood of messages, it can wear on you. And I bring this up because there's a story about a guy by the name of Darrell Sheets. You may know the name. He was one of the stars of the show Storage Wars. Right? A weird, weird show about these people who buy these storage lockers. It's on A&E and you're like, how is this a show? And the whole thing's staged, right? The whole thing is staged from beginning to end. They know what's in it and they make a big deal of the littlest thing and they pretend that it's worth my. I don't know how it all works. I think it's staged. Maybe it's all not. I'll leave that to them. Well, this guy, Darrell Sheets, killed himself, took his own life, Body was found by the Lake Havasu City Police Department, so that's Arizona. He lived in Lake Havasu. And the story was that there was somebody out there, a guy out there, cyberbullying him and tormenting him. I don't know the full story. According to the public information officer for the Lake Havasu City Police Department, we are aware of these cyberbullying accusations, and that is part of the active investigation. I will tell you that if you follow my feed, there are plenty of people who every day have something to say. Plenty of people who are on the attack. People who have dedicated their lives to coming after me. And you know that I'm not the only one out there where this is happening. And there are people way more popular than me dealing with a lot more stuff. I'm curious, is it about the person or is it about what's actually being said and what's actually being done? You know, the idea of doxing. I've been doxed before. People giving out personal information. Lots of people have. What was happening in this dude's life that this got so intense that at least from what we know now, he couldn't put up with it anymore. This is horrifying stuff. And there's stuff that happens on different levels, different people. And when it comes to your kids on social media, you got to be aware. So I want to start with just a baseline thought that has come into a worldview that I believe is wrong. Your kids are not entitled to privacy. Your kid, your 14 year old is on social media. First of all, as a parent, I think you're doing it wrong.

I don't care what their friends are doing. I care what your kid is doing. You should care what your kid is doing. And secondly, no, they're not entitled to privacy. You should be looking. You should be watching. You should be discussing these things with your kids and letting them know to come to you. It needs to be a proactive move on your part. Never forget that you're the parent. You're in charge. You're not their friend. You're their parent. When it comes to adults, I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to say. I don't know where you go and where you turn for the help in these things. It's a horrifying story. The only thing I know is if you got friends and you could reach out to authorities, start there. And it seems so many of our questions here about how the General Assembly moves and maneuvers is based on how we move and maneuver. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. We have gas taxes, which we wonder why they're so high, and yet our roads never actually look better. Then there's this conversation about tolling on I-70, yet where does the money we already have coming in go? Certainly, like any state, we have got our issues. The governor joins us. Mike Braun joins us right now. You can follow him on the Twitter X at Gov Braun, B-R-A-U-N. Sir, thanks for taking the time. I do appreciate it. Let's start where we start, which is about this idea of tolling on I-70 and how we are already paying higher gas taxes than neighbors like, let's say, Ohio. And if we were to take any level of cursory,

non-scientific poll. We would be told that Ohio roads are better than Indiana roads. So how does tolling solve our problem when we're already paying a higher gas tax and yet we don't have a better product? Good question. And I think the whole idea of tolling or the taxes we currently pay. Tolling especially, that's something that there won't be any appetite for currently when the issues are affordability. And you know where we weighed in on that from utilities, the property taxes and so forth. So that feeling out there is bona fide. Let's look at 70. And as you compare it to Ohio, Indiana would have more square miles of interstates per square mile of state. than probably any place in the country with the most usage of them. So much passes through here because we reach probably 70 to 75% of commerce and two days of ground transportation from it. And you're coming through Indiana if you're going east and west more likely than any other state. So. Currently 70 costs about 170 million to maintain it in its poor condition. The road funding bill that was done back in 17, where you refer to the gas going up 10 cents a gallon and diesel 20. That gave us community crossings. That gave us 69 being completed. We knew then when it was done that it was going to wane in 24 to 25, which it has done. It flattened in 24, slightly off. So it cost 6 billion plus. if you wanted to take it from border to border and make it look fresh like 69. So those are the issues and not to mention. People are fatigued. Republicans are slow-footed. They don't ever explain it well. The whole irritability on affordability was... 22, 3, and 4, when inflation went up by 25% over those three years, concrete and steel more so than anything else, still largely up higher, way higher than what it was pre-COVID and Biden inflation. That's what we're dealing with. So it's hard decisions on what you do that wasn't an easy decision back in 2017. I'm not going to argue, sir. that it isn't a hard decision. But that's the explanation you wanted to know. So. But, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, we haven't, but, don't, why would we believe that a toll will give us this? Yeah. I beg to differ there because.

The reason we have disproportionate kind of road usage, and I didn't mention on 70, half of the users nearly don't even stop to buy a candy bar, don't pay for any usage due to the fact it's a short stretch. 70 would be outside of the pinch points, say around Chicago, big cities, has more intensive use. than any other kind of thoroughfare where you're passing through. And half of the users don't pay for it. That's what makes 70 stand out. And then why we're not able to do, say, better, that's a function that all of a sudden things were decent. We completed 69, and steel and concrete are still way above. the even 25% plus a growth quotient of other things, and that's what roads and bridges are made of. So we've got to get through it. We've got to figure out what does make sense. If you're not willing to pay for the improvements, I don't think we've mismanaged it. I think we've just dealt with the fact that we've got a more acute... kind of concern because of where we are. And it's a comparative advantage to us. Then you've got to get to the difficult discussion. If you want better roads, you've got to figure out if you're doing something through technique that's not working. I don't believe that's the case. How do you do it? That's always the hardest proposition. How do you pay for it? That's a Hoosier discussion that we've got to have. The legislature will have to get aggressive in doing it. Last time they had to confront it was 2017. Talking to Governor Mike Braun of Indiana. We will get into the gas tax in just a moment, but when we talk about the people on those roads you talk about, the pinch points, I assume you mean, are bordering states and how tolls would be there as opposed to more of the interior of the state. The people driving those places like I-70 are truckers, and there is a massive issue with commercial driver's licenses and illegal immigrants. And we've seen movement from the state of Indiana. We see a desire from the Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy. But we have places like New York, places like California. that will issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. Does Indiana have a desire, a plan, a willingness to take on those states for the issues they create in Indiana, including death? Well, the one thing we're doing currently is we've stepped up enforcement due to the fact that so many of them passed through. And Superintendent Anthony Scott's done a wonderful job because the number of stops we're making that actually finds a lot of this stuff out like you've just mentioned. That immediately gets litigated. Even in our own state, we weren't handing out CDLs through a slot machine, apparently like they have been a New Yorker.

California, where most of these have actually come from. But eventually, they're going to pass through Indiana. So we're stepping up the interdiction. The routine stops have gotten more common, and we're finding it. And sooner or later, we'll ferret out a bunch of that. How we would actually tell California and New York, I don't hear much about Illinois on the CDL issue. is they'll get sued eventually, and hopefully they're not dumb enough to keep doing that for some of the horrific results. Sued by you? Is this something that you want Todd Rokita look into? Is that his purview as Attorney General? I mean, I think that would be something for states that have to put up with the issues. Yes, that'd be fair game to at least take a look at it so you're not sticking your head in the sand. Most likely there'd be some type of federal. action that comes down upon it or you know they get sued left and right by the private sector that gets involved by it so many different ways a place like california when you've got such disproportionate sway to your population and your policies which seem to be stupid across the board sooner or later those consequences come home to roost The most recent observation of that is people are leaving that state and businesses in droves, and they'll be losing congressional seats down the road. But, yeah, I mean, if that's where they're coming from, you can't dismiss it because there are consequences across the country of it. talking to the governor of indiana mike brawn let's stick with roads and travel and taxes and we brought up the gas tax you brought up the gas tax and you had suspended the gas tax on this affordability conversation for 30 days i don't think it applied to diesel and that's an interesting question in and of itself but here we are we are still in this conflict with iran Are we going to extend this repeal of the gas tax, the suspension of the gas tax? And can we commit right now to doing that through the rest of 2026? Through the rest of 26, I'm not sure that I've got the latitude to do it. I think I can extend it one additional time. I think the legislature has to intervene at some point beyond that. I doubt there would be a special session to do it. But I observe in Indiana and in our own country, we are actually producing more than any other country. We've been insulated from the fact that... Drill Baby Drill has made a difference. In Indiana, if you observe, that was a 17 cents impact based upon the wholesale cost of fuel when it gets delivered to the retailers. The price at the pump in Indiana has drifted down, you know.

30, 40 cents more than just the relief from that sales tax holiday. I'm likely to extend it for another 30 days, even though it has been drifting down because I don't see the Mideast issue being cleared up in the next 30 to 45 days. But I think we're doing the right thing there. If anybody sticks their head in the sand to see that we're dealing with a nutty nation. in Iran that sooner or later you had to do something other than let them just evolve into where they were just a few months away from what would have been a catastrophe. It is unclear how that resolves itself. I think we keep watching there, but if it looks to me like what it's going to do, there's a good chance I'll be extending it. Let's move a subject just really quickly, because this is all just developed in the last really seemingly 48, 72 hours, which is Adam Krupp, Department of Child Services. I don't know the man. I don't believe I know the man. He was the director of the Indiana Department of Child Services, and he was then on a medical leave. I don't question it at the moment. And now he's coming back. He'll be your special advisor, even though you've already moved Jennifer Dorfmeier into the position. She will be heading up. the DCS, the move to have the special advisor and at the pay rate of exceeding $200,000 a year, has some people asking, what's the need here? Can I ask you what the need here is? Well, the pay rate is the same because he was on leave, so we were already accounting for that. Adam Krupp, when I put together the cabinet set up and brought in eight kind of entrepreneurs into state government, I don't know how the place was run before. That same question came up. I can tell you, Tony, we're going to be doing a lot of things due to the dividend we're getting from running state government more efficiently. That's another conversation. be happy to delve into it. In this case, that is a tough job. When you're dealing with 4,000 employees, he was considered doing a good job. The people there like working for him, but it got to be a little too much. So gave him a leave of absence. He then said he's ready to come back. Jennifer had been doing a good job, and since I want to make... I'm not sure that we'll extend that, but for the meantime, having him there just not running the show because that got to him before, that's the dynamic behind it. When he called and said that that hiatus worked, we came up with that as being a solution. We're going to see how it works.

That's a tough agency along with FSSA that Mitch Robe runs. That involves all the Medicaid stuff, which we're already making great headway there. So that's the particulars behind Adam Krupp. He was sorted through when we first put big agency heads together. I had 120 people from outside government and some from within that helped me make these selections. and almost across the board, we've been really blessed with the people that decided to come from the private sector in. Adam ran into that. That's where we are. Before I let you go, and I appreciate taking the time, and I do have many more questions. I'm just up against it. When will I, Tony Katz, be named the ambassador for new business development for the state of Indiana? Are you still seriously interested in doing that? I need to be called ambassador, sir. Absolutely. I told this to you directly. I absolutely want the gig. Well, so it's interesting, and others have asked the same thing related to particular connections they have with not other states, but other countries, and that is something we're looking at. Once we look into whether that makes sense, what you're going to do with that special title, if you're there doing things to try to make a better connection between... us and there. And I don't rule out that for someone like you or anyone else that wants to enterprise. There is nobody else, sir. Stop talking about other people. That's ridiculous. Far than the state of New York.
