You've heard Ryan Hedrick talking about this in the top of the hour news, by the way. Ryan doing the work, getting the interview with Ryan Mears, we'll share some of that audio with you. Tony Katz 93 WIBC, good morning. Ryan Mears is the prosecutor. And man, some of his commentaries on what people think of his job performance. Wow, that's special. I'll have that for you coming up in the popcorn moment. But you heard him talk about how suspending the gas tax. means that state and local governments are going to lose out on $5333 million. And my response is, and... And... And... What? You know, I'll try it differently. Maybe and is just too rude. Let me, let me try a different way. So... The argument in front of us gets put that without all these taxes, your grandmother will die in a house fire because we can't afford the fire department. That is where they go. Now, some people don't go to that extreme right away. What they go to is without taxes, you can't have this, you can't have that. Don't you like amenities? Don't you like beautiful things? Don't you like all things? If that is the argument, then the argument like the universe is ever expanding. There's never a moment why there can't be one more tax or one more this or one more that or one more the other or one more your mother, one more thing and one more thing and one more thing. The argument never once connects to whether or not people feel a pinch in their own lives. Inflation has caused issues. It caused issues under the Biden administration. It has caused issue under the Trump administration. I do not think Trump has done enough to make it better. The tariffs are a problem. His argument is, yes, inflation over here hasn't come down to the 2%, which is the Fed desired number, but look at all the investment it got us. I want to see the shovels in the ground. Then you can make that argument. But the inflation is still there. And the costs keep going up and the energy costs go up and the insurance costs go up. And so what the governor did is saw what was happening in Iran, saw what was happening with the oil prices and said, we can at least give some relief. And you're already getting 60 cents a gallon on every gallon of gas. That's criminal.
Now there will be people out there will tell you that's not criminal. Those people need to lose elections. Of course it's criminal. No one in the state of Indiana believes we have roads worthy of 60 cents a gallon. And then of course there's a conversation of what goes to roads and what goes to general fund, all these kinds of things. But why would I pay attention to any article? Any municipality saying we're losing out on this, we're losing out on that. Families are losing out here, there, and everywhere. Where is the city to say you're tightening your belt and we're going to do the same? And so for this year, for these six months, we won't do this, we will change that, we will work the other. Now some will say to me, Tony, we're doing that. We're doing some of that. Okay. So we all know what it's like. So what is the argument? If every argument is you can't take these dollars, you mean our dollars, if every argument from every city official, from every state official and from everybody in the so-called opinion world who wants to demonize you for wanting to keep your own dollars is grandma's going to die, that's not an argument. Don't be surprised when you on that side get completely dismissed because you're full of crap. Not once considering what people are dealing with and going through in totality. I don't argue against local taxes. I argue against the federal income tax. I don't argue against local taxes. I only argue that it's okay for people to say we've paid enough. It's okay to say it's enough. It is. It's okay to say you have to tighten your belt too and you can't threaten me when I'm upset with what it is we're paying, whether it's a property tax or something else. $5333 million. Yeah, it's a lot of money. All combined. And yes, municipalities should say here's what we're doing to be able to help as well. And if they're not willing to do that, if they're that disconnected from where the people are, Maybe they should be totally disconnected from positions of power where those people are. Ryan Hedrick from the WIBC Newsroom. meets up with the Marion County prosecutor, Ryan Mears. Because lots of questions about Ryan Mears. You have people who believe that Ryan Mears should be investigated for things being done. Well, I should take that back. You have people who believe that Joe Hogsett should be investigated. for things that are being done, and why is it that Ryan Mears isn't moving forward on those things? Then you have questions about why Ryan Mears doesn't engage in prosecutions against, well, you know, criminals. If you want to tell me that Ryan Mears is doing a top-notch job, I'm going to smile and say, bless your heart, and then say, no, you can't come into my home. Because he's not. But being the newsman, Ryan Hedrick is, who brings you the morning news here, he goes to where Ryan Mears is to ask the questions. Could Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett face a criminal investigation? Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears is discussing what that would look like while defending his office's record on crime. Mears comments on Thursday come after Mirror India and the Indy Star reported that Joe Hogsett has shaky connections to political donors and city contracts. People want to call out the state police. If people want to call out IMPD and say they need to investigate Joe Hogsett, that's fine. And if someone brings us a case and we need to make a decision.
as to should we file the charge or not, that's something that we can do. One of the first cases I prosecuted was a Democrat elected trustee in Wayne Township. We've charged two sitting sheriffs this year alone. And so if there are elected officials who are accused of wrongdoing, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office sits in a unique position where we have jurisdiction over most things, and if it's appropriate, we'll file charges. By the way, that's the part that drives people like the state attorney general, Todd Rokita, crazy that all the powers within these counties and that when they don't act, like Ryan Mears doesn't act on a whole host of things, he can't, therefore, act. But that's the Marion County prosecutor saying, show me where the case is and we'll follow it. Now, there's a follow-up question of who would believe him, but let's go back to Ryan Hedrick. Now lately, political leaders in Donut counties have been complaining about Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears and the spillover crime from Indianapolis. On Monday, Delaware County commissioners took a vote of no confidence against Mears. He said every attack against his office and the work they do is political. It's a good talking point for some people politically. But the reality is the people who are on the streets who are doing the work, I'm grateful for all the partnerships that we have and we wouldn't be able to convict those individuals and we wouldn't see our homicide. numbers decrease unless everybody was coming together to work together with a hold on a second prosecutor you think that's because of you you think numbers are down as they're down across the country thrilled by the way because of you we know that a man was shot and killed in a parking garage and if it wasn't for people like us people like fox 59 People out in the community, hearing the stories from us, reading these stories, and then demanding something we've done about it, we don't think you would have prosecuted at all. It's all politics to notice when you don't prosecute? It's all politics? No part of this is a problem with your politics? That's bold. That's also BS. You know it, sir. You are fully aware of that. As a matter of policy, what Hoosier C is you don't want to, and it's ideological. And that harms Indianapolis. But don't you dare. Don't you dare. Take credit. For a number going down. There is nothing that you have done that could show that you have a place to take credit. You want to show your work? Well, five microphones and no waiting, sir. Thank you, Ryan Hedrick, for going to get the story. Today on the marketplace, well, this is awkward. Very awkward. So much so that I had to ask whether or not this was AI. Tony Katz 93 WIBC. Good morning. Good to be with you. During downtime, clearing my head, getting ready for what's next on the show. I find myself on a Facebook marketplace. Cool stuff, odd stuff, weird stuff, strange stuff. They've got everything on the marketplace. The marketplace segment.
Brought to you by Indianaunclaimed.gov. It is your cash. Go get it. Indianaunclaimed.gov fast, easy, free to use. You can text my name Tony to 46220 to get started. Text Tony to 46220 and get it going. Oh, Matt Bear. Oh, come on. What? The item. Yeah. Yeah. What's going on? Yeah. I'm not. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not proud. No. But since I found it on good reads, I know that it's real. Oh, okay. So let me ask you this, Matt. Yes, I'm very uncomfortable. Do you like to read? Yes, I do, Tony. Well. Have I? Have I got a book for you? Oh. I'm really hoping it's like Dr. Seuss or something, maybe a challenge. Someone in Avon who has a very, very dark sense of humor is selling a book. The book. Oh, gosh. The book is written by a woman by the name of Sandra Ziegler. The book comes from 1978. And the book is entitled Bill Cosby coming at you. I'm going to go use the restroom. I'll talk to you guys here in a little bit. My next hits coming up at 45. The cover of said book. The cover of the book right there. Let me describe to you the cover. Of the book. It is of a cartoon, Bill Cosby in a suit and none of the jelly pudding. And he's got the... And there is a child holding on to his head from behind him while there is a young girl in shorts, a tank top, and boxing gloves preparing to punch him in the face. Yeah, you can only hope that maybe there's a brick in those boxing gloves somewhere. I'm not to whack him in the face. And, you know, there's a kid. It looks like he's climbing on his back like he's about to get a piggyback ride. And maybe he's going to take his fingers and gouge out his eyes. That's a possibility. I don't know if that's in the book. Okay, let's... There it is. I put it on the live stream. It's... I do not know what's more problematic. The chick trying to beat him up considering his history or the fact that the book is called coming at you. And you said this was sold from Avon? This is, uh, someone posted this in Avon. Avon, you so deserve Rockville Road. Every bit of it. Wow. Whoa. Shots fired. Holy cow. It's going to be under construction for the next 40 years and I'm glad. Because of this book. No, I love it.
Avon, I apologize. That was that was uncalled for. Darkness. Oh, man. You deserve Rockville Road, said no one ever. Let that hate out. So, uh, I'm kidding. They're, they're selling it for 10 bucks. And the best is, the person who posted this, all it says is enough said, $10. No, there's more to be said here. No, no, no, they have said enough. Oh, no, no, no, no, you're posting this book. You deserve just random knocks on your door. You need to answer questions here. No. No. No. No. Bill Cosby's. No random knocks at the door. At the cover of the book here, it looks like he's dressed for court at least, you know. Yeah. He's wearing his best suit. Getting ready to go to court. Hey, kids. So am I to take it that you're not in for $10? I don't think I want this in my home, Tony. Let me give it a thought. No. No, I still don't want it in my home. Well. You're missing out on a piece of Americana. How did she steal this from the Smithsonian? That's what I want to know.
I don't know who first said this. It might have been Eddie Murphy himself. You know, it's a weird world where Eddie Murphy is considered an upstanding family man and Bill Cosby's in jail. Wow. It's a really good line. It's there on the marketplace. Have had it. Oh, or not. Best offer. Or not. Bidding war. Wow. Dark turn. Yeah. Dark turn. Thanks for that. You're welcome. We bring it all. Tony Katz and 93 WIBC. Good morning. These stories all connect, but I'm going to have to leave it to others to try and understand how. I mean, I can explain it. But I don't think it's going to be as strong as if you're just willing to recognize it. Tony Katz 93 WIBC, good morning. Good to be with you. Did you know that there were two churches that were firebombed in New York the other day? This guy busted for throwing Molotov cocktails at two churches in Queens, one of the five boroughs. They believe it part of a disturbing seven incident spree. He was in federal court. He admitted to throwing the fire bombs at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at the Batista El Mesa Church, along with other locations. And he's screaming, yeah, I blanking firebombed them.
So he's screaming as he's brought into court for throwing these devices at a smoke shop at being another place while wearing a Guy Fox mask. And then screaming that everybody is part of a government criminal syndicate. Now, I don't know anything about this dude. It's very messed up stuff. What I noted was that two churches got firebom, but it wasn't the only churches that this happened to. That there have been a series of attacks on churches. And we have not heard word one. from the mayor Zohran Mamdani there in New York. Now, the question that gets asked, and I'm told it's by people who are just trying to stir the pot, would this be true if it wasn't churches? If there was some other type of religious institution or structure? or gathering place, however you want to call it. That was firebomb. That was attacked. Would we have heard about it from the mayor of New York? And the only answer is, well, of course. You know that across Canada churches have been attacked barely makes news. Why? Why not? Why doesn't it make news? Why isn't it a story that the mayor is speaking out against? I give you another story. And you say to me, Tony, these are two stories out of New York or we don't live in New York. We don't care about New York. Oh, I accept and I agree that we don't care about New York. What we are discussing here is a trend. and an understanding that we have to be aware of who's running for office and for whom we vote and getting out to vote. Because the people out there, whether they be Steve Bannon or Tucker Carlson's and all the rest who want to scream uniparty and say it doesn't matter, they're the ones allowing people like this to get into power. The story from City Journal, which is an absolutely brilliant publication. The top official in Zohran Mamdani's administration's office for international affairs made plans to meet with Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations. A member of the Zohran Mamdani organization was going to meet with the Iranian ambassador? Why? For what purpose? For what reason would you meet with the ambassador to the UN of a terrorist regime? Makes no sense. Unless, of course, it makes perfect sense. The same administration that says that they would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu on the spot. Best of luck with that, by the way.
meeting with the terrorist regime, the backwards nature of saying, well, they're guilty of genocide, even though there are more people in Gaza than there were X number of years ago. Right? It's all a lie. We all see it. We all know it. We know it's just this ridiculous talking point that makes the left feel good that has no basis in reality whatsoever because it has no basis. The numbers show it has no basis. But Benjamin Netanyahu gets arrested. But the terrorist regime that has killed Americans and destabilized the Middle East, let's go sit with them. Is anybody going to notice what's going on here? One group is guilty of genocide when the data says absolutely not true. They meet with the other group that engages in terrorist activities and churches get firebombed across the city and they say nothing. Huh. Well, that's a lot of data to sit down with and comb through to have to figure out where the connection points are. Or not. Maybe some of you are advanced. You kind of understand that elections have consequences. And anybody who ever thought this was about Jews and Israel, this is always, as we have said here from the beginning, always been about Christians, always been about America, and has always been about Western civilization. Election Day is November 3rd. Sip through the data, make your conclusions. Your work will be graded, not on a curve. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart.
