Do you believe these characters are weird of us? It feels awesome outside right now. I mean, this is just perfect weather. I'm Jason Hammer. Jerry Lopez is right next to me and back me up here, Jerry. This is the kind of weather where you want to sit outside, have some beers with your buddies, do some day drinking, and then pee outdoors. And it falls on a taco Tuesday. What else can you ask for? It does. But there's always a but. A cold front arrives tonight. Nancy Pelosi is going to fly in on her broom and deliver a cold front tonight, bringing some rain and maybe some storms. Could be severe storms early to late this evening. In the word, did DJ Khaled? Another one? Another one. Now, this one feels like it's predominantly the northern part of the WIBC listening area, but these things change. And when the weather systems... collide when you have a warm front and a cold front, bam, then you get some thunderstorms. So shouldn't be anything too crazy for like downtown and southern Marion County, but keep an eye on the radar and we'll keep you up to date all throughout the evening here at 93 WIBC. Temperatures back in the 50s tomorrow. Oh, that's going to be freezing. I literally, I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt, been wearing it all day, and it's been amazing.

3:04

Like, 50s normally isn't bad for like April 1st toward the end of March. But when you're running around here and it's 80, Man, it just feels like it's so cold after that. You know what we need to remember is people? This happens every year, Hammer. Every year, this is Indiana weather, and let's just get used to it. And here before too long, we'll be like, it is so freaking hot outside. No, I will not do that. I will never complain about the heat because that's how much I hate the cold. That's me. I can handle the heat like a boss, but I hate everything about the cold. And don't get it twisted. 50 is not cold. Sure. When you're like 80 and it's perfect, you know, it's a big drop off. I always joke. That's how the North won to Civil War. You get people marching up and they get past Tennessee and they're like, you know what, screw this. It's freezing. So last night, I want to give you an update. We talked about the Speedway Council, the town council having a big meeting to go over what to do with the unfinished hotel that's over by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The update is that they voted unanimously. to approve a resolution to authorize the Speedway Redevelopment Commission. to begin the process of acquiring that property. So good old-fashioned domain taking place here. The Wilshaw Hotel at the corner of 16th in Maine has kind of become an eyesore. And Jerry, you and I were talking about this yesterday. I'm still surprised there hasn't been some major hotel developer that said, you know what? Because of the real estate that's right across the street. We're going to take a gamble on it. Yeah, it's funny to hear the word imminent domain when nobody was in charge of it already. It was just sitting there. It's been failed twice, and now the city's like, somebody's got to do something with it. But to your point, you're telling me the Marriott wouldn't put a hotel right across my IMS? Right. Think about some of the dive hotels that are around the area that are owned by some pretty big companies, right? Like, just because you've got Marriott or something attached to your name, doesn't mean they're all tens. Put a La Quinta. It'll get full. Right, right. And one right across the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Again, not just for race day or race weekend, because then you would expect them to be full, but there's got to be folks coming in the town for conventions that would think, you know what? Let's stay at the hotel that's right across from probably the signature spot in all of Marion County, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Yeah, I mean, and it's close enough to downtown where you can get back and forth, kind of get out of the city. Makes complete sense to me. I can't wait to see what Speedway does with it. Miss Allison, can you please have the Attorney General Todd Rokita kick off this next segment. Legal stuff. Crime. Punishment. Judges. Legal stuff. It's a big week for the Supreme Court. They're hearing a lot of arguments this week.

6:02

And the Supreme Court today just ruled that the Colorado Democrats ban, because that's really what it is, on talk therapy for kids identifying as transgender is unconstitutional. So what had happened was you had these very woke super leftists that run the state of Colorado basically say that therapists are no longer allowed to talk to kids who are saying, even though I'm seven years old, I'm a girl now. Therapists in their right mind should probably have the right to sit down and talk with that child about what's going on. But in Colorado, no, no, no, no, no. The rule and lawmakers there said, we want those kids that are seven and eight years old to make up their mind and have nobody tell them no. Yeah, some of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard my life started with what had happened was. And that was one of them. What had happened was we want to indoctrinate your kids and we don't want you to have a say at all. Right. Well, the Supreme Court stepped up and said, uh-uh. My kid wanted to be lightning McQueen. We didn't go through surgery and stuff like that. Right. Like, come on, let's be serious. Some of these kids want to be Ninja Turtles, seven years old? You're 100% right. And I think Bill Maher once made the reference on his program, I wanted to be a pirate when I was a kid. I'm glad I didn't have surgery to get a peg leg. Like it's the same argument here. And this was an eight to one ruling. So pretty much all of the Supreme Court said, yeah, you're... We're going to need to have therapists talk to these kids. And the way that the Supreme Court spun this, and I don't know if spun is the right word, because I think it's the right thing to do, was they made it a First Amendment issue. Like, you are a therapist. You have the freedom of speech to talk to people and tell them, you know, what you get paid to do. And that's the way that it was positioned here. The only dissent, Jerry, I'll give you a sip of the whiskey bottle. We've got hidden in the back where none of our bosses know where it is. I'll give you a sip of the whiskey bottle. If you can tell me which Supreme Court justice was the dissent. I mean, it's got to be the only one that comes to mind. She appeared on Broadway and... This is Jackson, right? Yes. Jackson. She should barely even be there. As Joe Biden once dubbed her, Cajon, Cajon, Cotan, Cotanjee drown Jackson, the only dissent. And what was her descent? Did she write a piece? She wrote a piece saying that everybody else was wrong but her. It's not a First Amendment issue, and this is going to hurt kids. That's ridiculous. I think the more people you have talking to people through, I don't care what your ages. If you're going through anything, the more people you talk to, the more help you're going to get. Right. Talking. is a good thing. Communication is a good thing. Hampering conversation sucks. Let me tell you something. She would not support something that says the school's going to tell your kids all these things and you can't even talk to them about it. She wouldn't even support that.

9:00

And keep in mind, even like Sotomayor said, yeah, we're siding with the other justices here. Like even the other liberals. Right. John Roberts even played ball. And let's not act like Amy Coney Barrett's been a rock solid on our side either. But it was eight to one and the only dissent has been just the embarrassing Kintanji drown. Jackson. It's a win for common sense, though. The win for common sense. It is. Jerry Lopez, Indie Spenglish, filling in for Big Nige here. Jerry, if you need a reason to drink tonight, and I think this falls into Allison's category, too, because I think you like this movie. It was 31 years ago on this date. that the movie Tommy Boy was released. A great one. David Spade, Chris Farley. Back me up here, Allison. This was a movie that's probably a little bit younger than your age group should probably enjoy, but I think this is one of your favorites. Yeah, I will say I am 32, so I'm just one year older than this movie, but it's easily one of my top five movies of all time. It still holds up. And as good as Chris Farley is, right? This was comedic genius by Chris Farley. David Spade doing David Spade things in that. It was the duo that made it. And it has a lot of heart to it too, which is like the perfect storm of a comedy, in my opinion. And don't forget Volodymyr Zelensky, who a lot of people feel like is the movie version of Kurt Signetti, the IU football coach, Dan Aykroyd's character, right? Just all about the business, kind of a similar haircut, kind of a similar... tone. Here's a little montage of Tommy Boy released 31 years ago today. Fat guy and little cold. I was keeping you want towels? Need sleepy. I'll skiping you want me for a pillow. Please go away. Let me sleep for the love of God. Did you hear I finally graduated? Yeah, and just a shade under a decade, too, all right. You know, a lot of people go to college for seven years. I know. They're called doctors. Before I decide to keep my business with your place, I'd have to come by and have a look at your new operation. Hey, I'd tell you what? You can take a good look at a butcher's ass by sticking your head up there, but wouldn't you rather take his word for it? What? I'm failing to make the connection here, son. No, I mean, you can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass, but then, no, it's got to be your bull. Wow. Hey, Gilligan, did you eat the skipper? You better pray to the God of skinny punks that this wind doesn't pick up, because I'll come over there and jam it ore up your ass. I'm pretty sure like 50% of that movie was improv, too, is what I've heard. I love what I can look over to the traffic center and see Matt Bear just laughing, like, at his station, just faces red, and he's just laughing his ass off back there. I love it. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. Right now, your local Toyota dealer has great deals available on some of the most reliable trucks on the market, like the off-road ready Tacoma, rugged, full-sized tundra, and legendary forerunner.

Toyota, let's go places. You're listening to The Hammer and Nigel show. So this is very wild. This went from zero to 80 pretty quick. It's the Hammer and Nigel show. I'm Jason Hammer. Jerry Lopez, Indy Spanglish filling in for Big Nige this week. So Jaden Kay Ivey, if you're a Purdue basketball fan, you remember the name. Lottery Pick played for Purdue a couple of years ago. picked in the top 10 of the draft by the Pistons, had a decent little run there. Injuries hampered his time in Detroit was part of a trade around the All-Star break that sent him to the Chicago Bulls. But again, injuries have been a factor. I think he's only played in four games for the Chicago Bulls. But he's all of a sudden decided to become a born-again Christian. like completely out of left field. He went from doing his fair share of sinning, so to speak, and he'll talk about that, enjoying everything the NBA lifestyle has to offer, the ladies, the money, the cars, all that kind of stuff, to being just over the top, all in on Jesus and God. And Jerry, when I say all in, I mean, he went from zero to 80, from somebody that really never talked about religion to now he's doing like 90 minute Instagram lives, 90 minute TikTok lives, talking nothing about God and Jesus and, you know, the afterlife and all things like that. Yeah, I'm not going to judge somebody else's decisions on how they communicate or how they... praise their God, kudos to him. Whatever, however he feels like he has to be closer to his maker, kudos to him. I'm not going to judge him for that. What's crazy is just another example of you will get in line, though. You can have your beliefs, but if they don't match ours, you will shut up. Which brings us to what happened to Jaden Kay Ivey. He criticized the NBA for glorifying the LGBTQ plus community and Pride Month. The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They have, they have, they proclaim Pride Month and the NBA. They proclaim it. They, they show it to the world. They say, come, come, uh, come join us for pride, for pride month to celebrate unrighteousness.

15:54

They proclaim it. They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it in the streets. Unrighteousness. So how is it that one can't speak righteousness? How is it one that, how are they to say that, you, man, this man is crazy. So because of that, and I feel like some. other of his longer religious rants, the Chicago Bulls waved Jaden Kay Ivey and they called it conduct detrimental to the team. That's a kicker. That's the big one. It's not that you suck, not that you're hurt, your behavior is hurting us. But the thing is, he was hurt and he was away from the team. So there was no conduct that was interfering with the team. But his views went against what the NBA and specifically the Chicago Bulls stand for. So now he's out of a job here. So where are we at here? Because on one hand, Jerry, I'm somebody that believes that employers can hire and fire people for whatever they want, right? But at the same time, you look at what the NBA has done from a social justice standpoint, all the things they have shoved down your throat. You look at a guy like Miles Bridges who plays for the Hornets. Now, I know the Hornets are not the Bulls, but it's under the NBA banner here, arrested, criminally charged with multiple felony counts of domestic violence and child abuse after an alleged assault on the mother of his children, got a 30-game suspension, and remained with the team. But he can put up 15 and 5. Right. Like they don't care about your behavior. Can you score? Let me bring up another one that I know you guys remember. You probably forgot about Jonathan Isaac from the Orlando Magic. So this is back during 2020. He was the only player to stand for the national anthem and not wear a Black Lives Matter shirt during the restart. And he was attacked as well. Right. And that's a black player. Just so we're clear. Black player and he's religious. He said, I don't agree with this. And he was attacked. So this kind of goes into the argument of had Jaden Kay Ivey been putting up 20 points a game, had he been a key part of a team making a playoff run with the Bulls have done this? I doubt it because let me just be honest. There are certain groups you just don't mess with and the LGBT crowd is one of them. Pete, when you say something that goes against that crowd, corporations shaking their boots. True, but... At the same time, I'm not saying that this player would, but if Steph Curry were to say that, if Luca were to say that, I promise the Warriors or the Lakers aren't parting ways with those guys. They would just distance from his comments and say he has a right to speak on his beliefs. We have no comment at this time. Right. The PR team would go into overtime. But because J.N. Kay Ivey's been injured. He's only played in four games with the Bulls. They use the conduct detrimental to the team out. Yeah, you got to know how much pull you got. That's where Jaden Kay Ivey messed up. Right. There's the old story from Cowboys head coach, Jimmy Johnson, when he took over as the Cowboys head coach, and he was trying to change the culture of losing. And a special teams guy fell asleep in a meeting, and Jimmy Johnson cut him in front of everybody. And then when asked what he would do if that were Emmett Smith or Troy Akeman, he said, I'd probably get him a pillow. Yeah. There's a difference in pro ball, you're...

19:22

production and what you can get away with, right? Yeah. Like if you're putting up the numbers and you're staying healthy, you can kind of say what you want. Barclay, Dennis Rodman. Dennis Rodman was running around wearing dresses. Yeah. But he was also pulling down 20 rebounds a game, becoming the defensive player the year in a Hall of Famer. Look at Ron our test. Right. Always found a job. Change his name. Found a job. Changed his name. Found a job. Kobe. Let's not act like Kobe didn't have some skeletons in that closet that he overcame. And now he's revered by so many people. The problem with Jaden Kay Ivey is that he wasn't good enough for the NBA to share his beliefs. And I think that stinks. That sucks. That does suck because he seems like a good kid. I am intrigued how he went from zero to 80 in terms of the religion. Like that's an odd thing for me to try to understand. Does he need help? Does he need counseling? I don't know. I don't know the guy personally. Well, his teammate, his ex-teamate, I guess. Josh Giddy, big player on the Bulls, came out and said he's a very talented player. Obviously, the whole kind of thing is unfortunate. I hope he gets the help he needs. Whatever he's going through or not going through. I do really hope he gets help. It's not going to be with the Bulls anymore, but wherever it is, I hope he gets it. So that lets you know like... And Giddy's had some drama himself. And maybe to... Well, isn't that the truth? And it's still played, right? No issues. Right. So, yeah, let us know what you think. Jump in the YouTube chat, Facebook and Twitter, at Hammer and Nigel, the Jaden Kay Ivey story. If you were the Chicago Bulls and a guy that had only played four games that was not playing very well, was doing what you viewed as a distraction, would you cut him? Or do you think it's crap that this guy spoke out for his religious views when so many players in this league get away with way worse things? Here comes the rain. It's the Hammer and Nigel show. Rolling with you on a Tuesday. Downtown Indy, it's The Hammer and Nigel show. I'm Jason Hammer. Jerry Lopez, Indy Spanglish, filling in for Big Nige. And joining us in studio, John Young. Now, if the name sounds familiar, was once a member of the Indiana State House, now running again for District Number 58. John, how you doing, man? I'm good. How are you guys today? Real good. Now... We wanted to bring you in here because we've got questions. As somebody who was once in, and when did you serve? When was your time in office? It was from 2016 to 2022. Okay. So that's not that long ago, but it feels like in Indiana Republican terms, it might as well be infinity. If you get back in, let's say you win District 58's race and you get another ticket to go to the Indiana State House, how have...

22:14

the Republicans changed since your time there? Because we talk a lot on this program about some wishy-washy Republicans that might as well have a D next to their name instead of an R. Like, talk me through trying to work with some of these folks. Certainly. And I first wanted to mention on my way up here dealing with 65. If I were back in the state house, I think the first piece of legislation would be to... renamed the state flower from the peony to the orange barrel. Correct. Correct. But my time in the legislature, I think, was marked by dealing with what I would call social issues. We were trying to pass and did successfully pass right to carry. We worked on... That took a while. It did. It did. And Representative Ben Smaltz, you know, just kept at it. And persistence is key up there. Also, transgender issues, you know, keeping men out of women's sports. And the culmination of my prior stint up there was at the special session where I helped co-write the abortion law. And that was... probably nationwide, the number one issue in terms of social issues that people were really concerned about. And the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Way gave us that opportunity. Now, from being an outsider for the last couple of years, and I thought this was going to happen, is the legislature is now having to deal with the hard issues, as I would call them, instead of the social issues, such as property taxes, you know, local control, which ties into housing affordability, issues like that, which it was very easy for a long time for a representative to... go out and hit the campaign trail, say, I'm against abortion, I'm against abortion, I'll fight that tooth and nail. Well, when you had a Supreme Court ruling that said states have no say in that, it was fairly easy to talk that talk. But now that that has been addressed, I think, in a very meaningful and positive way, those issues aren't there to talk about anymore. And when you have a super majority, though, as we have in the state of Indiana, not all Republicans are created equal, right? We were kind of talking off the air, even though constitutional carry. passed through. It took a change of heart of Rod Bray. It took a lot of dominoes falling for that to happen. Indiana should be a rock solid red state. Things should be passing through here left and right, like a well-oiled machine. Why is that not happening?

25:02

Well, in some ways it may be the super majority. Well, we're never supposed to talk about what happens in caucus. I will never forget Speaker Bosma. This caucus like Fight Club, rule number one, you do not talk about what happens in caucus. It somewhat is. It somewhat is. But I remember Speaker Bosma, you know, telling us. when he was frustrated where the party could not coalesce and unify around some of these big issues that as Republicans we should be for, it was a message that sometimes we would have been better served knowing what it was like to be in a minority. When we had the best ideas to propose for the state and to help our citizens out, and we couldn't get a thing done. Now it is a lot of infighting, and even on the abortion bill, you had a range of legislators with a range of ideas on thinking it went too far, that there were some folks that said, we should not pass that at all. You had folks on the other extreme, which said there should be no exceptions any time. So we're always going to have those fights. But being a super majority, a lot of times I think there is some infighting. Now, with that, and I'm sure many people have told you, most legislation is uninteresting. It's bipartisan. It's necessary legislation, maybe on topics that the... People don't deal with on day-to-day level, but it's still important. And most legislation really does get good comment, get good discussion, and simply passes, and it's not partisan. I think one of the good things about being a conservative is you don't have the group-think mentality that Democrats have. The problem when it comes to legislation is you don't have the group-think. Right. So when you have a super majority, I think that when, you know, super majority Republicans, it's like, yeah, but we still have a lot of things that don't seem very conservative that happen in this state. Well, and look at the Democrats. Democrats are party first. They are absolutely party first. Conservatives, Republicans, we're the big tent party. We're the ones that have these debates and discussions. And that is healthy. But we do not fall in line. like Democrats do when you have a Nancy Pelosi or an Obama or, you know, a Jeffreys, simply saying this is what our message is going to be. This is what we are going to do. And we are going to be unified as a party, even if you don't agree with it. We're speaking with John Young. He is running for District 58. So what are the biggest issues for you? What would you like to be responsible for if you get another ticket to come back? Well, there was, I served on the Judiciary Committee. I was vice chairman. I'm an attorney by trade and also served on courts and criminal codes. And there's not a lot of attorneys in the legislature, especially on the Republican side. So.

28:10

Each member, I think, has a niche that they focus on, and with a lot of my clientele, it is very diverse, so I could speak on a number of issues. I am not an educator, however, I do represent school districts. I do think that the state's education policies need to be looked at. I can't understand why, you know, or I want to know how states like, say, Louisiana and Mississippi have raised their literacy rates and, you know, above where Indiana is. If they can do it, we certainly can do it. We're smarter than Kentucky, those hillbillies down there, right? That's what I'm hearing from you right now. I'd like to think so. But as our legislator smarter than some of those hillbillies, that's a question. That's the million dollar question. Certainly, in my locale, which is Johnson County, SB1, property taxes are still a big issue. Is that the biggest issue? I heard the governor do an interview with somebody yesterday, and he's scheduled to join us tomorrow in studio. But Governor Braun mentions that he hears about data centers and energy costs more than property taxes right now. Do you buy it? I believe that in certain areas and regions of the state, that is the topic right now. However, in Johnson County... To my knowledge, we have really not been approached with any of these data centers wanting to come in. So it's not a topic that I think is on the top of a lot of people's minds. I mean, call me crazy, but yeah, I'm going to think about the bill that I write every month as opposed to the check I write twice a year. Right. I get that. John Young, in studio with us running for District 58. You had mentioned constitutional carry earlier. Why is it important? to be a strong to a Republican. Well, I am proud to say that I did have an A rating from the NRA when I was in the legislature. Second Amendment rights are so important. One of your frequent guests has his own show, Guy Relford, excellent attorney, and I will pick his brain on Second Amendment questions from time to time. But fundamentally, it is the Second Amendment. That's what our Constitution says. I really believe that a lot of the discussion ends there. But in order to defend property, defend your property, defend yourself against bad actors, to be able to defend yourself against the government, if necessary. And a hallmark of a lot of authoritarian regimes is the first thing they do is confiscate the guns. Right. And there's a reason for that. And it's so ingrained, especially in Hoosier culture, that not that everybody agrees with it, but I...

31:07

I think it's common sense to most people that I have a right to protect myself. I have a right to carry. I have, you know, right to carry in public, period. We don't, we don't make people, you know, buy a permit to defend themselves against the Fourth Amendment. I don't have to buy a sign to hang out on my front door saying, No entry without a warrant. It's just there. John, if somebody wants to reach out to you, if they've got a question, if they want to find out where you stand on an issue that's close to them, what's the best way they can get a hold of you? Yes, anybody can look at my website. That is John Young for Indiana. And I believe I also have my cell phone number. posted on that be careful giving it out with this crowd because well they're going to get some uh you're going to get some texts i'm telling you they'll need to look at the website first but my information on how to contact me is there and i try and always be available and i'm always happy to discuss the issues with the uh you know great folks around here and the voters of indiana John Young, running for District 58. Thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate your time. Jason and Jerry, thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate that. It's The Hammer and Nigel show. Thank you. Thank you so much for writing Shotgun here. I saw a pretty funny stand-up comedy show over the weekend. Comedian Jim Brewer. Saturday Night Live, half baked. You guys know Jim Brewer, right? Yeah, man. Bring back some water. And some funions. A big part of his set was how he believes in conspiracies because they always come true nowadays. They are undefeated, Hammer. They are undefeated. Last couple of years, conspiracy theorists have been on a bit of a heater. Just wait five years and then they'll be right. So let's talk a little.

34:20

conspiracy theories, shall we? Let's go full Alex Jay Jones here, can we? So Charlie Kirk's murder. Oh, gosh, I'm sorry I reposted this. Candace Owens has been doing ridiculous things, bringing attention to herself, talking about Erika Kirk, talking about Charlie Kirk, who's really responsible for the death of Charlie Kirk. Who's a time traveler, according to her? She said that. He's a time traveler. And then you've got headlines like this from the Daily Mail. Quote, bombshell update as bullet used to kill Charlie Kirk did not match Tyler Robinson's rifle. Repost. And you saw that, Jerry. Repost. And without reading the article, you just hit repost. You didn't have to do that. You had to repost. And then I look at the comments and Hammer's like, dude, if you just click on it and read, it says something completely different. Myself and Tony Kennett. My friends ate me up on my own post. You were getting cooked on your own post, Jerry. It doesn't happen often. But I left it up because I'm a man. So if you read the article, one, this isn't anything new. And number two, the defense is just challenging the procedures to match the bullet. The bullet. had a little wear and tear on it, okay? So it's completely misleading headline. You're going to think that the bullet they found in no way would match Tyler Robinson's rifle. That's not what they're saying at all. But that's what the headline says. And because the Daily Mail wrote it and people like Indy Spanglish reposted, then it goes viral. Then it goes everywhere. And this crap is all over the place now. And all of the Candace Owens fanboys and girls are taking off their pants and doing unspeakable things because they think this proves there's a conspiracy theory in their right. Here's a rifle expert, and he made a great video breaking down everything that we know about this quote-unquote bombshell update. The rifle used to kill Charlie Kirk was a 30-od-6, and we knew in October that the bullet could not be matched because it was most likely a soft point. 30-06 cartridge, which is the most commonly used and purchased type of ammunition for that rifle. And soft point ammunition, which looks like this, right? Has a rounded tip, and it is a soft point. It's literally designed to expand. And if it hits something like dense bone, it's probably not going through anything. Hence, there was probably no exit wound when it hit Charlie's spine.

37:21

Now, this new bombshell court filing of the thing that we already knew was filed by the defense, and they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't file it. But reporting on it like its new information, well, that's just there were reports filed and several different kinds of DNA were found on some items. Like Charlie's shirt or necklace would probably have... More than one DNA on it. Only one DNA, I think, was found on the rifle. And that was Tyler Robinson. They don't tell you that part. Bingo. Of course you're going to find more DNA on Charlie. People were trying to save his life. They were grabbing him. They were taking him behind the tent. They were trying to perform CPR. They had to rip his shirt off. Of course, there's going to be more DNA. But the one place, there's only one set of DNA, is the rifle that was found that belonged to Tyler Robinson. And again, you heard him break down the ammunition debate here. This is not a bombshell. This is old information. We already knew this. And... He's right about one thing, Jerry. The defense team of Tyler Robinson, they're playing this perfectly. They're winning the media battle here. They've got Candace Owens fighting their fight. They've got the Daily Mail putting out redamdiculous bull crap headlines and people are buying it hook line and sinker. They're doing their jobs perfectly, but the problem is nobody wants to read the story to find out that it's bunk. Yeah, I just wanted to do my part to show you guys how important it is to actually read the articles before you post them. See, it was a teaching lesson. Listen, this is an area for opportunity. Right. It was a growing warning lesson. I got eight up, dude. I got eight up. If you're bored right now, go to Jerry Lopez on Facebook. I reposted this. My friends chew me out on this dispose. And rightfully so, that's what good friends do. Right. They tell you you're wrong. There's a meme where Kermit is hugging another Muppet and is going, dude, you're getting cooked in the comments right now. And honestly, you bleeping deserve it. That was you yesterday for sharing this crap. Yeah. Also, in the Tyler Robinson case, the prosecution has announced they intend to call Tyler Robinson's parents and his... The dude? Romantic partner, his... trans gay lover to testify at the preliminary hearing. I think her name is Lance. Her name is Lance.

39:55

Somebody just woke up from a coma was like, what? This is significant because these are the people closest to Tyler Robinson, his parents, and the weird romantic partner that he lived with. These are the prosecution's witnesses. So I'm hoping they allow cameras in there. I know Erica was lobbying for cameras to be involved. This is going to be a show. Yeah. And you know what? I hope that his partner does the right thing and just. is open. We've lost somebody and I don't care what side of the aisle you're on in America. As a veteran, I fought for you to disagree with everybody. So you can go out here in Black Lives Matter and be the hell the KKK. You have a right to be an idiot. I fought for that. I hope Lance Twiggs shows up and does the right thing. More conspiracy stuff. JD Vance was doing an interview and says that he thinks aliens are actually demons from hell. And he vows to get to the bottom of the UFO files that President Trump wants to release. Well, look, I think that celestial beings who fly around who do weird things to people. I think that the desire to describe everything, celestial, everything is otherworldly to describe it as aliens. I mean, every great world religion, including Christianity, the one that I believe in has understood that there are weird things out there. And there are things that are very difficult to explain. And I naturally go, when I hear about sort of extra natural phenomenon, that's where I go to is the Christian understanding that. You know, there's a lot of good out there, but there's also some evil out there. And I think that one of the devil's great tricks is to convince people we never existed. So JD Vance is kind of an alien nerd. He was super excited about these UFO files that Trump wanted to release. Well, then the war in Iran happened, and it kind of took away all the mojo from that, and nobody's had time to talk aliens. But JD Vance is still very much in it. And I think all of us are in it. We want to know, but I think there's a big problem for the government. If I realize somebody can just show up and blow this whole thing up immediately. that would cause a problem for them, for the religious zealots, for all those people. Like, maybe they don't want to tell us what's really out there. But if you think aliens are really demons from hell, do you just sit on that information or do you go out and tell everybody you know? I mean, listen, anybody who's been divorced, you lived with one. You'll be okay. Tusha. There you go. Before we hit a break here, let's give you another reason to drink tonight. Angus Young of ACDC, 71 years old, the only original member of ACDC left. I saw those dudes in Nashville last year, and look, they're all old, they're all grandpas. They still got it, man. Now, I'm telling you, with somebody from my background, I love ACDC, and that says a lot about how good they are.

43:00

I mean, they're up there. Angus is still doing the duck walk and like Brian Johnson's got his little old man dances. But they rocked that place and all of their songs still sound really good live. Now, not everybody likes ACDC. So that's why we're going to turn to our friends. There I ruined it. They put this together. This is what ACDC sounds like to people who don't like ACDC. I bet a duck you gave a crack, quack, so I got loose with a moose. Well, he shook me all that Lord. I've been tickling my bum with the manicill in my bum. I got to curse like a cookie crumb. I got nine whites, cheese fries, jumping on a trampoline and death of lines when I'm back. This is what ACDC sounds like to people who don't like ACDC. I happen to like ACDC. So let's play a little game here of don't forget the lyrics. I'm going to play a part of an ACDC song. Allison, these songs were made 30 years before you were born, but I think you probably can fill in the blanks, okay? Okay. Over under. I've got three songs lined up. I think she runs the table. I say two and a half. Give me the under. I'll go the other way just to be competitive. Okay. So Jerry's got under two and a half. Okay. Number one. Okay. Because the walls start shaking. The head was quinging. My mind was taking. We were thinking. You took me on. Yeah. There we go. One for one. All right. Here we go. Number two. Going down. Party time.

45:01

Let's go. There's two. So it comes down to this. I put a little envelope of money back there for you. If she gets this right, we cash the over. If she does not get this right. I lose twice in 24 hours. Jerry walks away a winner. If she flames out here, I think this is the toughest one of the three. Good. Here we go. Thunders? Struck? Yeah! Oh, I was not confident. Cash that over, baby. That's what I'm talking about. If you didn't say struck, I was taking the win. Woo! Now I'm jacked up. Whenever and Nigel presents. It depends upon what the meaning of the word is. Is this anything? All right, let's rock and roll. All right, before we get into, is this anything, I'm going to do something on the air, completely unprofessional, but I feel like it needs to be done because I forgot to do it during the commercial break. I didn't know he kissed on cam. Oh, good Lord. I've got this kind of a sore throat thing going, okay? It's not bad. You know, I've been worse. If you remember my show at the state fair, holy geez. I've got this chloroseptic throat spray. In fact, fast acting. Okay? So I'm going to spray this and see if we get any sort of immediate relief like it promises. Plus and numb you, right? I think so, but who knows? Here we go. I might have to take over the show if he goes completely numb. Okay. Feels pretty good. I think we're going to be all right. Let's go. Is this anything brought to you by Indiana Unclaimed? A program presented by the Attorney General's Office here in Indiana. The Attorney General's Office reuniting Hoosiers with over $1 million. Unclaimed property every single week. It's fast, it's easy, and it's free. It's free to search at Indianaunclaimed.com.gov.gov.gov. Man, this stuff really works. He's already high. Man, I... Let me hit that. Put this in a ball and just pass it around. And we're selling these chloroceptic shots outside the studio. Five dollars a hit. Okay, so here's a feel-good story. I certainly think this is something, but Jerry, maybe you disagree. A 12-year-old dog named Honey... who was half blind. Like, just starting the story, I sound like, I love her. I love her. I sound like Casey Kasem, what he used to do, those long-distance dedications. The 12-year-old dog named Honey, who was half-blind, is now a hero after confronting a bear to protect her family and their farm animals. Yes, the 12-year-old half-blind dog was shoeing away bears. Here is Darren, Denise, and Leanna talking about their brave pup. It was just devastating. You know, I never thought I would ever see our dog in that shape. We were committed that we were going to do whatever it took to help her, but it was looking to be very unreachable. Her face was so hugely swollen. Everyone cares about their animals, and some people just don't have enough money to pay for thousands and thousands of dollars of care that is required. She protected our chickens and our family, and I feel like they in turn have protected her in helping her.

48:27

through her, I'm going to get emotional, through her healing journey. Is that anything? Man, people don't deserve dogs. Like, dogs are such awesome people. This half blind, old dog, what is it? Eight years for every? Twelve years old. So what is that in human years? What is it? Seven for one or eight for one? Regardless, she's over 70 in human years. That's an old dog. Half blind goes after a bear to defend her family. That's a phenomenal story. And you know what? Good girl. Good girl. And this brings us to great moments in shooing away bears history like the guy that tried to reason with a bear stealing from his bird feeder. Stop it right now. No, stop it. Down, bear. Bear. No. No. No. Down. Bear. Bear. I just wanted to eat the bird feeder. Great moments in shooing away bears history. To me, this will always be the gold standard. It's the 76 Hoosiers. It's the 72 dolphins. The guy that was on the hiking trail. Quad. Quad. Quad. Great moments in shoeing away bears history.

49:48

You're listening to The Hammer and Nitel show. It's a final four week here in Indy, and we've got a trip to our final four of stand-up comedy madness on the line. The last spot in the final four will be decided today. Before we get there, let's recap yesterday's matchup. And Jerry, we've had some heavyweight fights lately. What we're doing is taking stand-up comedians. We've ranked them in a bracket, one through 16, seated out. They compete against each other. And you, the listeners of this show, vote on Facebook and Twitter, which comedian you want to advance. And yesterday, we had two of the all-time greats. Dave Chappelle. And as soon as I open my car door, I hear a voice go, David Chappelle. I didn't even have to look. I knew it was her. And I look back and sure enough, there she was, that face. I'll be honest with you, she probably wasn't even that old. She's probably around my age. I was nice. I said, hello, miss. And she didn't say anything back. All she said was, I watch your comedy. I said, uh-oh. And then she says, it's true. She goes, sounds to me like you paint. women. I said, well, you know what, miss? It's art. And you're free to interpret this art however you'd like. But I can tell you as the maker of this art that I don't believe that I feel that way. And she said, well, I think and I say, shut up, bitch.

51:33

For I kill you and put you in the trunk. Ain't nobody around here. I'm just kidding. I didn't say that. So Dave Chappelle, who could easily win this whole thing, taking on another guy that could easily win this whole thing, the late and great Robin Williams. And I was once on a German talk show, and if you want to go on one, it's a lot of fun. It's really fun. And I was on this German talk show, and this woman said to me, she said, Mr. Williams, why do you think there's not so much comedy in Germany? And I said, did you ever think you killed all the funny people? Yikes! Yikes! Gee! And... Good God. How was aggressive. And here's what got interesting. She didn't bat an eyelash. She just went, no. At that point, even God's going, do you get it? German comedy, knock, knock, we ask the questions. So the winner, based on your votes, and I got to be honest, I was actually surprised at the margin of victory. Robin Williams pulling the upset over Dave Chappelle. I wouldn't know that that I would call that upset. Any of these guys can win. I voted for Dave Chappelle. Not surprised Robin Williams beat him. He's hilarious comedian, great body of work and all kinds of movies. No, no need to hang your head, Dave. No, no. I mean, think about just this past week alone. George Carlin has been defeated. Dave Chappelle, Richard Pryor, have all gone down. This is like a crazy March Madness bracket here. All right, today's matchup. Final trip to the final four is on the line. You've got one of my personal favorites, Chris Rock. Martin Luther King stood for non-violet. Now was Martin Luther King, a street. And I'll give a fuck with you in America. If you're on Martin Luther King Boulevard, there's some violence going down. It ain't the safest place to bitch. You can't call nobody telling him you lost on MLK. I'm lost. I'm on Martin Luther King. Run! Run! Run!

53:41

Jerry Seinfeld. So I move into the settling. Now I get ahead of this woman who felt, for some reason, I guess, that she thought that I cut her off. So she pulls up alongside him, he gives me the finger. It seems like such an arbitrary, ridiculous thing to just pick a finger. And you show it to the person. It's a finger. What does it mean? Someone shows me one of their fingers, and I'm supposed to feel bad. Is that the way it's supposed to work? I mean, you could just give someone the toe, really, couldn't you? I would feel worse if I got the toe than if I got the finger. Because it's not easy to give someone the toe. You've got to get the shoe off, the sock off, and dry, get it up in the... Look at that toe, buddy. I mean, that's really insulting to get the toe, isn't it? I mean, if somebody gives you a toe, they really hate you. Man, that's a tough one again. Like, I love both these guys. Jerry Seinfeld has held up. I didn't get to Jerry Seinfeld until after the Seinfeld show was off the air. You got into like the reruns and the binge watching and all that. It was on Netflix and I just ran them all off and it still holds up. But Chris Rock is, he's a goat, but we just lost one last round. So this could go either way. So you can vote right now on Twitter and on Facebook. On Twitter at Hammer and Nigel, click on the comedian you want to advance. And again, this is based on their full comedy, stand up comedy body of work. Not just the sound bite. that we played. We always try to play a soundbite to give you an example of who they are, but you're basing their entire stand-up comedy body of work on your vote. Is it Chris Rock or Jerry Seinfeld? Facebook and Twitter at Hammer and Nigel. Now, with that being said, Jerry, are you ready to bring the show to a screeching halt? Oh, this can only mean one thing. Caller Roulette. Oh, here we go. So whatever you want to talk about, you can call in. This is dangerous. Oh, this is a really, really bad idea. You have no clue what people are going to say. Nope. Eight years of being number one. Like, we just got the ratings over here, here. Look. Number one, again, look at all that. Number one at the top. And every so often you give them a chance to blow it for you. I'm putting all of the shows built up goodwill and ratings behind a segment where somebody's going to call in and say something inappropriate. And I'll get blamed for it. Eh, but what can you do? 239. 93. If you want to talk about the war in Iran, we can do it. If you want to talk about March madness, stand-up comedy madness, Purdue, Indiana, we can talk about it. We want to talk about Jaden Kay Ivey and religion. If you want to say inappropriate things to Indy Spanglish, you can do that. How bad do you want that Allison Cam?

56:41

How bad do you want the Allison cam? 239-93. All we ask, you keep it brief. You keep it. Clean. Don't get hammer fired. Don't get hammer fired, please. He's so important. Right. That's all we're asking. Keep it brief. Keep it radio clean. Don't make Allison uncomfortable because I know some of you are calling in to do that. Don't be idiots. 239, 93. All right. Let's rip the bandaid off. Let's do caller roulette. Scooby-Doo is up first. Scooby-Doo. Where are you? What's going on? I am stuck in traffic on the southeast corner of Indianapolis. And I just wanted to know when I take Allison out for dinner, dancing, a good night out and everything. What does she want for breakfast in the morning? Allison, if Scooby-Doo ends up staying the night, what do you like for breakfast? I guess the right answer is Scooby snacks, right? Oh, okay. No, no, no. I'm a damn good cook. Okay, gourmet Scooby Snacks. Yeah. Maybe an omelet with Scooby-Doo snacks. Right, right. There you go. Again, we specifically said, do not make Allison uncomfortable earlier. And right out of the gate, we got somebody sleeping with you wanting to know what's for breakfast. Scooby-Dib-Doo. Josh is up next. Josh, welcome to The Hammer and Nigel Show. What you got? Hey, you sure this is the Hammer and Spanglish show? It is this week. Yeah, I'll take it. I love doing it. Hey, so economic question for you guys. I know gas prices, the Middle East, world economy, all that's kind of driving it up. But I could have sworn about a month or so ago somebody was filling in for one of the midday guys. And they mentioned that Gavin Newsom had made some kind of law or something to shut down some of their refineries in California. You guys heard anything about that? I mean, would we be surprised if Gavin Newsom is screwing the energy in California? That's kind of what he does. But if there's anything we know about the left, it's that they want to handicap everybody. So big surprise that they want to run up the gas prices so that you're more dependent on them. I wouldn't be surprised at all. I haven't heard anything specifically, but I'll defer to Spanglish right there. If it sounds like a really bad idea and it's going to screw most people, more often than not, Gavin Newsom's probably got his hand in it. Joey is up next. Joey, welcome to The Hammer and Nigel show. Hey there. So I had something else to talk about, but then I heard this Scooby guy. And it got me thinking. What age did you realize Scooby and Shaggy were total stoners?

59:27

Oh, that's a good question. Probably not until I got a little bit older. Like when I knew what weed and being a stoner was, so probably 12-ish, 13-ish, I would say. Well, you were a young pothead. It looks like in Beech Grove, they start early. I'm not saying I was smoking it, but like, again, I knew who Cheech and Chong were, and I knew what being high was like, yeah. Yeah, I didn't know that it was that there were potheads until maybe. my army days when I would still watch those cartoons. Probably around the same time I realized SpongeBob was cussing. You know what I mean? Like the little dolphin noises. Yeah, it's funny. You watch some of these cartoons and some of the, you know, the background things in there. You're going, wait a minute. Why am I showing this to my kids? You know, it's like... Your kid doesn't notice. It's made for us to walk because they know we're watching with the kids. I mean, if you really want to go old school, hell, the Flintstones used to advertise for Winstons. Like Fred Flintstone would come out, and it'd be like a commercial in the show, and he's puffing on a Winston. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, Fred's wife. What was her name? Wilma. Wilma. She was definitely sucking on something, and it was a cigarette probably. Oh, well, there we go. Hey, if push comes to shove, though, Betty, I think, was the hotter of that group. Betty Rubble will smoke. Give me the mom from Jetsons. Okay. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll see that. I'll see that. Okay, maybe that's next year's March Meredithis, like the Hammer and Nigel contest, hottest cartoon females. Jessica Rabbit is the number one seed, right? 100% with Lois Griffin. Bill is standing by. Bill, welcome to the Hammer and Nigel show. How are you guys? Good, man. I just have one thing to ask, given your status to the number one show, for the love of everything that is holy, can we please get rid of Chad Guy Benson? I do not make personnel decisions. I do not make decisions on programming. I've said this before when it comes to other members of our staff, so unfortunately I cannot weigh in with that. No comment. Okay. No comment. All right. That's pretty much what we expect for caller roulette. Somebody asking me a question. They know I can't answer. Somebody making Allison uncomfortable. I feel like we got a lot accomplished there. That's good. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart. 1:02:25

Here in just a moment, we're going to talk a little final four closures with Matt Bear, the traffic beast. I'm Jason Hammer. Jerry Lopez is with me. Jerry, you were just looking at some secondary ticket prices of the final four, right? Yeah, I get a wild hair sometimes. I figure if I'm going to do something, I need to get tickets right now. So I looked at you and I said how much you think tickets are right now for session one, which is you said Illinois. Two games. So session one means you get those two games. And then session two is Monday night. All right. So session two is the championship. Correct. Right now, session one, this is on tick pick. They don't, this is not a paid ad. I don't care. I just use them because they don't put in service fees. 621 is going to get you at the top of section 600. For one ticket. One ticket. This is just one person. And that gets you two games, though. Yeah. For Monday, one ticket. And this sounds like a steal, brother. I might buy this right now. $300. Okay. Okay, not bad. I mean, I might get two tickets if you pay me back. 300 bucks to go to the final four? The championship. It's not a bad deal. I'm fighting a sneeze. Do it. Sneeze. I think I beat it. My eyes were watering. You know what they say? If you hold it, you're going to die. So I'm... I've always heard if you look at a light, it triggers the sneeze. And I was trying to look at the light. Then I just went blind. Don't go to the light, Jason. Stay here, Jason. Do not go to the light. We have an update to the war in Iran. We'll get to that here in just a moment. But Matt Baer has just sauntered into the studio. He has sashayed into the studio with his white shirt, his big guns, Matthew. I hate when him and Guy Relford come in because when Guy comes in, I'm the sexiest second bald guy in their building. And then when Matt Bear comes in, he just makes me feel so small. You know who we become? We become like every hot chick's ugly friend. Yeah. I'm the fat girl you take with you so you don't look fat. Exactly right. That's who we are. Matt Bear, scoot over one more chair, brother. All right, all right. How are you, man? I'm fantastic. It's a beautiful, gorgeous day. You normally join us on Friday, but you've got some rare time off coming up. Yes, I do. I'm off Thursday and Friday looking forward to it. I'm going to be walking around the final four festivities a lot. I'll co-host traffic. It's yours. It's you as everybody wants the gig. I'll be walking around because driving downtown is going to be. awful and i hate to put it like that but that's kind of what's going on coming up this weekend um where we're at right now and this is the way i look at this if you know all these streets are going to be closed around lucas oil stadium for the championship games and a lot of these closures are in place now a lot of them start thursday and they open up at different times next week different days so i look at it like this if you're coming up from the north side and he hits st clair street that's kind of like the orange zone as you get close to lucas oil stadium that's where you'll see couple of street closures and it gets a little rough with the grids. So I solve this today. So normally my way into the urban one building, I drive downtown, I take the circle onto North Meridian and I drive up and I pull into our parking lot.

1:05:29

Couldn't do that today. It was blocked off at a certain point, and I had to go around. Yeah, Meridian and Penn are already closed right now in the St. Clair Street area, and that's around this American Legion Park where they're going to have the Zach Brown Band and all these major concerts. Zach Brown's coming here? Yeah. Oh, that I didn't know. Yeah, Zach Brown Band. Post Malone is going to be here. So, you know, they have some really big league concerts coming up, and they've already closed these streets because they're putting up these huge stages and everything like that. So with these... Closures start to reopen next week. It's going to be when these extra facilities are torn down. So keep that in mind. It's St. Clair, that's when you're in the Orange Zone, kind of with Meridian and Penn. And then if you get south of Ohio Street, you're no man's land. That's where the really big time traffic is going to be around Lucas Oil Stadium. South Street is part of it are going to start closing tomorrow. And then into Friday, I mean, I'm thinking Super Bowl-like conditions, not that high, but as far as getting a level. downtown and the people walking on the crosswalks it's going to be big time it's going to be big league stuff here do we know if the majority of these concerts are on Saturday or is it Friday or Sunday the off days of the basketball like because I know Saturday it's the games right you've got both games taking place at Lucas Oil Stadium yeah this is um it's Friday Specifically, they have concerts going on starting at 515, and then you have 21 pilots to feature at 845 Saturday. That's when Zach Brown plays the Zach Brown Band. And again, concerts start like mid-afternoon. Brown Band is a fun show, by the way. Honest question. Do you know if they cost some money? Are these free concerts? That's a very good question. I think it's part of the fan fest experience. I don't even want to say, but that's an excellent question. Sunday, April 5th is Post Malone at 815, and then again, in the mid-afternoon, that's when you're going to have the music start. So it's going to be cool, but man, getting around is going to be impossible. Can I tell you my favorite story I've heard about Post Malone? The last time he did a show in indie. He went to the Olive Garden. I think it was in Greenwood or something. Like, he found the Olive Garden. And he's taking pictures with, like, all the staff. He was cool with it, you know, like, so there's some, like, 50, 60-year-old chick that works in the back that's, like, a bartender. Probably has no idea who Post Malone is. And she's posting on Facebook a picture with, like, Post Malone, and he's smiling and giving her thumbs up. And I heard he tipped everybody really well. Like, I'm a sucker, but I like hearing those stories of, like, celebrities. when they go to these places tipping everybody really well. If you want to know how quickly you can turn your life around, look for old Post Malone videos. Did he look like Volodymyr Zelensky back in the day? Like he was like, you know, with a red helmet. Dude is diverse, right? He's like Matt Bear. He can do it all. He's had hip-hop albums. He's had country albums, kind of like jelly roll. They can kind of do it all. I'm a pompous a hole, but when I get back next to Matt Bear, I just get quiet. It's like when you're a six, eight, but a seven-nine guy shows up. Matt Bear has made the one guy in here that served his country feel insecure. You shut up a Cuban and that doesn't happen.

Hey, brother, when you pull back the layers here, when you start to pull back the layers, it gets a little rough, I'm going to tell you. But, yeah, there are really cool things going on downtown. The roads are just going to be off. If you're coming up from the south side, you have two major construction zones of both of them are brutal. That's the I-65 construction zone and the Madison Avenue construction zone. And then you have everybody's favorite Illinois Street closure at South Street from the Citigrant Hotel. And that's going to be going on for the rest of the year. South Street's going to be shut down. Hold on. Did you say for the rest of the year? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't just let that go. Let's say fall. Fallish. Let's say fall. In a spirit of the army, I'm going to issue everybody in Indianapolis badges for surviving this shutdown season. That's very, I, the junior G-man badge needs to go. It's a deployment. This is a deployment for you guys. It's Jerry's Purple Hearts. Yeah. Matt Baer is with us. Last thing here, Matt, before we let you get back to your traffic center. So you joined us on Friday. This was before the Purdue games. And Purdue made it to the elite eight. They took on what many feel was the best team in the country, Arizona, and they lost. So I'm going to ask you, as a Purdue fan, as somebody that follows the program, was this year a success for Purdue? They were the preseason number one team in America. They brought back Braden Smith and Fletcher lawyer and Trey Kaufman Wren and They struggled a little bit during the season, but they won the Big Ten tournament. They made a cannonball run to the elite eight before they ran into a buzz saw. There's no shame in the elite eight. Like, you didn't even make the tournament, but would this year be considered a success for Purdue? I'm going to say yes. And the reason is Arizona, you don't get on Arizona unless you're seven foot tall. And it's, this was just a monster. And it's not like Purdue has a history of short guys. You know, no, Zach eating, we got dumped by 16. Lane Dickinson. So, yeah, it's, I mean, we've had our moments. Sounds like you got some PTSD right there. Listen, it was a tough weekend. I enjoyed the first half. First half was awesome. You know, I mean, it's like, wow, we might beat these guys. And then they just, you know, they, where state is that? Pardon me? What state is Fairlight Dickinson? I have no clue. Who cares? No, no, that's in Puerto Rico, I believe. Fairly Dickinson is what I say to the coupon lady when I wake up in the morning the next day after a night of drinking. Look, I know it wasn't my A game last night. That was probably a Fairley Dickinson that you got last night. You got a 16. It wasn't my worst, but it wasn't my best. That was a Fairly Dickinson. Yeah, six out of ten, you know. That's the best we could do sometimes, you know. But yeah. I'm okay with the season. I mean, you're not going to see this amazing, this legendary trio of seniors with Braden Smith, Fletcher, lawyer, and Trey Kaufman Wren. They're all leaving. But it's Purdue, man. It's Matt Painter, so we know we still have a chance. I mean, you got Mr. Basketball coming in next year. The guy is soon to be named Mr. Basketball. Of those three guys, you expect all three to go to the next level? No. No, I don't. I think. You think, I think Braddon Smith gets drafted. I think he does. I worry about his height. Yeah, he's good standard point. Good standard. What about the other two? I don't know if he's NBA height. I see Trey Kaufman, Renfletcher lawyer. I don't know. Maybe again second round guys. Maybe Trey Kaufman Rends says he's such a good forward in the first round. That's a possibility. But I.

1:12:02

I don't know about NBA careers, and that's okay with me because, man, they gave me a good time at Purdue. Hey, your job is just no traffic. And Jerry and I were talking about this earlier. What used to make... Indiana University so good year after year, whether they won it all or made just a deep run in March, they had the best Indiana high school kids that all wanted to play for Bob Knight. Like when they made those runs, it was Greg Graham, Pat Graham, Alan Henderson, you know, like it was all Indiana-based kids, Damon Bailey. Now Purdue's that school. They get all of the Mr. Basketballs. I mean... Raylan Mullins didn't go there, but they've had a run of Mr. Basketball and Indiana All-Stars that have decided this is where I want to play by ball. Yeah, it is cool. And I love Purdue for that reason. It is local. And I mean, man, it's like being a Colts fan. Only one of 32 teams gets to win the Super Bowl. Only one of hundreds of college basketball teams, D1, gets to win the national championship. So enjoy the season for what it is. Hope next year is going to be better. And that's what we do is sports fans. We're pissed off half the time. Who has more basketball? championships, Indiana State Sycamores or Purdue? That would be, I'm not answering that day. Let's go trees. My answer is going to hell, Jerry. I was one and done or I was a one and done. I was like an NBA athlete. One and done. Except for they called the academic probation when I went there. Well, I think Matt Baers' experience at Purdue is very similar, if I'm not mistaken. I made it four semesters, didn't take my finals ever. So boom, you know. That is academic achievement, you know. So, again, you're taking off a couple of days. Well-deserved time off, my friend. We appreciate you. Thank you, guys, and thank you for having me. I really wanted to talk about these traffic conditions a little bit. I want people to stay safe. John did a story on this, the NCAA app has maps in it. They're live. They're updated. Plus, a bunch of other stuff. I checked it out myself. it really can help you out. So yeah, look into that. Have a safe weekend. Love Indianapolis and God bless you. Hey, before you go, can I ask you one question? You know how late we are for traffic? I know. He's right here. I'm trying to take a break. I teed him up to say goodbye. You act like you've never done radio before. Honest question. How often are your conversations about traffic? All the time. He joins us every Friday. Go in the booth and tell us what's shutting down. Hurry up. Go, fine. You were supposed to take a break four minutes ago. Allison's waiting for Scooby snacks. I'm sorry. You're not the one that gets yelled at by Allison and our bosses. How come we were 520 when we went to traffic? Because Jerry won't be here on Monday. My fair lane Dickinson's all scrubbed up right now. That's all I know. All right. We've got to let Matt get back to the traffic center while he goes. This is all you need to know about the war in Iran. Israel carried out 230 air strikes against Iran in 24 hours, Jerry. 230 air strikes in a 24-hour period. The U.S. has deployed the B-52 bombers for the first time. The U.S. has given Iran 10 days to accept a peace agreement before the U.S. starts targeting their energy infrastructure, so the clock is ticking. And President Trump and Pete Hegseth lashing out at...

1:15:13

NATO, the United Kingdom, France, along others, for not helping the United States. That catches you up to date with the war in Iran. And oh, by the way, Tiger Woods had pills on his person when he was arrested. No surprise. Had a couple pills in his pocket per the affidavit. Are you really okay? Are you okay? Everything's going to be okay. Are you okay? Yeah, I'm fine. I'm pretty fucking far from okay. Are you okay with this? On the Hammer and Nigel. Oh yeah! So before we turn it over to Allison, who's going to host this shotgun edition of Are You Okay with us? Shout out to the YouTube chat. You guys have been on one today. We got 136 thumbs up right now on the likes. Hell, if we can get to 150, that'd be great. Man, let's try to get those last few to get us to 150. So if you haven't clicked like on the WIBC YouTube chat, let's go. We just need, what, 15 more about? Let's get it, man. I told you, you asked for, you said, we need 100. I refresh. I'm like, dude, you're already at 96. I said, your listeners are better than any. And I, and I'm on all the shows. Complete disclosure. If you know me, I've hosted all of the shows here. Yes. The fans of the Hammer and Nigel show are the most. I'll use the word obsessive. And maybe Allison helps with that. I was going to go for a while. I mean, you have, you have Allison and, you know, the 9 o'clock show has Kevin. So there's a big difference there. Oh, okay. And Kevin's my guy, but he doesn't look like Allison. Right. But we can get 150. Yeah, let's do it. Listen, try to get to 150, man. If we get to 150, I'll do 10 pushups. On the YouTube camera. On the YouTube camera. Okay. Okay. Deal. I like the sounds of that. WIBC's YouTube page. Give us a like. We get to 150. Jerry and all of his fans, which we've now described as the geriatrics. There we go. We'll love it. All right. First one here. I would say he's becoming a show favorite. Stephen A. Smith, he is not wanting to hear any sympathy for Tiger Woods after his recent arrest and crash last week. And here he is on a news nation. But all I know is this. You had this problem in 2017 when they found you asleep in your car on the side of the road. You had this problem in 2021 when you crashed into a tree and tumbled over and almost got yourself killed. You had this issue again last Friday. All three times you're inebriated and you're behind the wheel of a car.

1:17:52

Now, I think it's safe to say, you know, Tiger Woods, you can afford car service. I think it's safe to assume the man can afford car service, okay? What the hell are you doing getting behind the wheel of a car? Most of us would be in jail. Remember, the second incident in 2021, they didn't charge him. They didn't make him taking alcohol, you know, breathalyzer test. They didn't test his blood, any of that stuff. He was hospitalized. They left him alone. So he's got, in a lot of people's eyes in America, he's got. gotten away with a lot and they're sick and tired of it. I know you kind of said this already, but do you agree with that? I do. And again, if you would have told me five years ago that we'd be playing Stephen A. Smith's clips on this show. And we would refer to him as the voice of reason from the political left. I'd tell you you were high. But now that he's kind of dabbling his toes in the political water, he kind of wants to take that Clay Travis career step where you go from a sports guy to a guy that talks about politics and all things pop culture. I agree with them. Like. People like us, had we got one of those arrests, we'd probably still be in jail, unless you live in Indy and Ryan Mears is your prosecutor. But under the proper circumstances with a competent prosecutor, you'd still be in jail. You wouldn't get all these perks like Tiger got? Listen, Stephen A. Smith is in the Tiger Woods category, if you ask me. Stephen A. Smith, get away with the exact same thing. Here's what we need to say. Stephen A. Smith has tanked his ability to be the Democratic presidential nominee. He has too much common sense. If I told you, pull out your bingo card, you've agreed with Senator John Fetterman, Mark Zuckerberg, and Stephen A. Smith, in the same 90 days, you would never believe me. These guys are starting to wake up. And it's nice, how bad is the left when they start eating their own? Because they don't usually do that. Right. 100%. All right, quick update here. We said if we got to 150 thumbs up. It was super fast. We have surpassed that mark and Jerry said he would do some push-ups. I didn't know that they were that real. I said 150 and like I looked down in the YouTube comments and somebody said, we're at 163. Start pushing within six seconds. So here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a break right now. Golly, I got a stretch. And when we come back. The first thing we're going to do on the YouTube camera. Let's do it. See if Jerry still got it. I can do 10, brother. 10 push-ups in the studio, on the floor, military style. Let's get it. That's coming up. And you keep your head up or else you're not a soldier. What is Toyota affordability? Toyota, let's go places. You're listening to The Hammer and Nigel show. I'm Jason Hammer. Jerry Lopez is here. And before we get to our next guest, Jerry, who is a veteran of the U.S. Army. has promised to do 10 big boy real pushups on the YouTube camera. We had to get to 150 likes on the YouTube feed. They did it in three minutes, hammer. This is BS, bro. Right. So Jerry, the floor literally is yours over here. All right. Put your headphones down. For all my army veterans, we do them like men represent my people. Here we go. There we go. He's now walking over to the floor. We're going to have a dedicated camera on Jerry here. And he is making his way down and count him out. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Let's go. Let's go. U.S.A. U.S.A. My man. Now I'm fired up, and I can't wait to speak to our next guest. Hopefully it's fired him up to. R&C. Chair Joe Gruders joins us. Joe, welcome back to Indianapolis. Welcome back to The Hammer and Nigel show. How are things going over at the RNC? It's going great, but I want to see you guys do the Ted push-ups each. Hey, listen, my arms are a little tired, so I'm going to let Hammer take over. Here we are at the end of March. It's a midterm year. House fundraising, house polling. What are the numbers? How's the momentum? Well, listen, I'm super excited about the midterms. We have a chance to defy history. Only four times the last 150 years has the incumbent party been successful. We have a great chance. And even though you hear doom and gloom all over the place, we have a lot of things going for us. First and foremost, we have a president that's done more in the first 13, 14 months in office and most presidents do in eight years, which has given us an incredible amount of messaging. that we could run on that's extremely popular. We have the best messenger of that message in the history of the party, the greatest showman that's ever existed in the Republican Party and the president, Donald J. Trump. We have been crushing the Democrats in fundraising. I think the last report has a said about $110 million at $5 million, our affiliated committees where...

1:23:59

beating him by even more. So we have everything that we need to have going right for us is going right. I mean, we're preparing the plan. We're going to prepareing to execute that plan. And as long as people come together and when we can turn out our voters and we can do the job that what the party's tasked to do. And that's, you know, like I said, turn out those voters. I think that we can surprise a lot of people in November. Hey, Joe, this is Jerry. So my family is from Cuba. And this no king's protesting has got me. fired up. We have a bunch of American liberals out there with hammer and sickle and communist flags and all this other just craziness. You know, how much does that help the GOP and how much of the GOP really try to distinguish Democrats from socialist, Marxist, communist, because there should be a difference in my country? No, but that's what they are. These guys have gone so far to the left. That's their new mainstream. This is not your, you know, your grandfather's Democrat Party. These leftists have gone, you know, with the rise of Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders. It's given rise to these Leo Waccadoo nut jobs that are running all across his country for offices now in their only policy position is the fact that they hate the president. TDS is very real. These guys hate the president because he's accomplishing what they said they wanted to do for the last five decades, and nobody's been able to do it. This president's done it. The more he does, the more upset they get. That's why these such a threat, and that's why they're going around acting like they are. And somebody should educate them. Obviously, they miss that class in school. So if the No King's rallies are not resonating with voters other than the extreme political left, what is resonating with voters? Based on the, you know, research that you guys have seen, what seems to be the issues that are winning issues for the RNC? Well, listen, affordability is still first and foremost in people's minds. And obviously, with, you know, the president and the administration has, you know, this new conflict in Iran has created a little hiccup and all the work that he's done and bring all these prices down. But I expect, you know, when I talk to the president, it's going to be temporary. And there's nobody that's more laser focused or has more empathy than the average American than President Trump. And so in what people fail to realize is the gas prices were higher the day the president. took over than they are now. And this is a temporary setback. But listen, these special elections, off-cycle elections, it's about anger. The other side's angry that the president's doing exactly what he said he was going to do when he was elected. The border was like the number one issue two years ago. Now it's not even an issue in the top six. But you know why? Because the president took care of it. So our voters are relatively happy on most fronts. uh... and it's the democrats that are just upset because of all the success we're having so that that's the that's the real problem we just got to continue to hammer home that the american dream is achievable for everybody

1:27:00

For all Americans, we just have to continue to do everything we can to make sure the Democrats don't fundamentally change our country by importing tens of millions of illegals and giving them a chance to vote and giving them all the free stuff that we offer. How did we get here as a country where the country is doing great and we're not even willing to say, hey, good job. We all reap the benefits of a great administration. But like you said, they can't even say he's doing anything right. They have to take the opposite even if they know it's better. Look at the state of the union. That's going to be the ad that wins it. Stand up if you support Americans over illegals. Not a single Democrat stood up. It's we're in bizarro world. Like the Democrats, like where have they gone? What are they for? This Save America Act, 84% of Americans are for it. Show a voter ID. Show proof of citizenship when you register. These guys aren't for it. They're against it. They're against it because they're trying to hold onto their grasp of power is so important that they're willing to give up everything that we've built in America. That's great. So they can hold on the power for a little bit longer. To me, it's incredibly disappointing. It's sad. It's sad that 50% of the Americans... are, you know, are for illegals over Americans, are for, you know, that have TDS. And, you know, it's just it's, I don't understand it. But what the president asked me to do is he asked me to come in, help him win these midterms. So we're doing everything humanly possible to make sure we're putting ourselves in a position to where we could win in November. Joe Gruders with us, the RNC chair, joining us here on The Hammer and Nigel show. Joe, last thing before we let you go. You bring up the Save America Act, and I feel like voter integrity is such an important part of that. I know the last election cycle, the RNC was very passionate about getting poll workers to volunteer, to go out to these places, to make sure no shenanigans were taking place. Is that still something that's actively taking place with the RNC? No question. I expect to have an even bigger presence in this cycle. Because ever since 2020, it's been one of the primary focuses of trying to make sure these elections are fair and free and safe and secure. So every cycle since 2020, we've gotten better. We've made improvements. We've recruited more volunteers as poll watchers. We've recruited more people to go be poll workers. And we have boots on the ground. We have 120 lawsuits over 30 states. I said anywhere where we could find an edge and where we could bring down the hammer to make sure that we can have these.

1:29:47

safe and free and fair and secure elections, we're going to do it. We're not going to pass. We're going to be as aggressive as we come. And, you know, why do people donate to the RNC? We're the nucleus. We're the ones you're going out there and fighting. I was at the Supreme Court last week. In the Watson case, which is mind-blowing, it's going to be probably one of the biggest wins we've had in decades, if not the history of election integrity, you know, 14 states in the district of Columbia. collect and count absentee ballots after election day so what happens on election day the results come in and they find out how many votes that you need and then all of a sudden they can go out there and get these absentee ballots until they can flip the race they cheat the count that election day should be exactly what it means election day The fact that we allow states to count ballots after election day to me is crazy. And it could go on for weeks. I always say Florida, where I'm from, is the gold standard. But don't forget, we weren't always a gold standard in the 2000 election controversy, Bush versus Gore. We had the hanging chads. We were the laughing stock of the country. But then we went to work, and every two years, we went tighten the screws, and we made it better. Now we could deliver results within 60 minutes, 67 supervisors, both Republicans and Democrats, and everybody has full faith and confidence in the system. But the Democrats don't want that. They want to be able to have the opportunity to cheat. They want to undermine the system wherever they can. And that's why we're bringing the hammer to protect justice and to protect our way of life. Joe, where can somebody go if they want to volunteer for one of those responsibilities or to assist in any way? Well, listen, go to GOP.com. That's the easiest way to place to go. We need people to give their time and treasure. We only are going to defy history of everybody comes together. We can do this. We have a present that's pushing as hard as he can. We need to support this president to help him be successful. So we have a full four years, so we need to continue this great momentum. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you allowing me to be on this program. And anybody can follow me on the very social media sites at Chairman Grutter's. Chairman Gruters, RNC Chair. Thank you so much for your time. We appreciate you. Thank you guys. All right. So, Jerry, you have decided to double down here. They can't do it, Hammer. I don't think you guys can do it. You have until 6 o'clock. To get 14, if we get to 200 likes, I'll knock out another 10. That'd be the most likes I've seen on any of these shows, honestly. Okay, I'll make you deal with you. Let's do it. I can't let you be the only one that's doing something here. Let's do it. So we're at 186 likes right now on the YouTube feed. Let's set a record. Let's set a record. I'm in. We're pretty far away from that. Whatever the record is, let's go for it. But if we can get to 200, okay, Jerry will do 10 more pushups on the YouTube feed. I'll do the final break without a shirt on. Let's do it.

1:32:49

Game on. So go to the WIBC YouTube page. We've got one segment left in this show. It's about a two to three minute segment if we break right now. We've got to get to 200 likes. Jerry will do more push-ups, bringing out the army brat in them, and screw it. I'll do the segment without a shirt on. That Beach Grove belly, baby. Let's go. I'll give the people what they want, baby. That's coming up. Next. First things first. Jerry, you do your 10. one two three four five six seven eight nine and ten there you go now i am a man of my word i said this shirt would come off for this final short segment here so let's take this bad boy off here don't hurt him hammer don't hurt him hammer now This is a time where I fully expect Allison to make eye contact with me as I slowly unbuttoned my shirt here. As you try to make eye contact with her. Right, right. Here we go. Let's go, Hammer. Let's go, baby. We pay our debts around here. We do. Now, imagine 70 more pounds on this thing because that's how hat. There it is. Play that. Oh, right. I need you to slide across the floor and do the whole magic mic thing. Dancing on a chair in here. We're having a lot of fun. Matt Bear staying traffic. We're feeling good about ourselves. This looks like a club on Mass Ave right now. Don't go anywhere. We got another hour to go here on the Hammer and Nigel show. Allison, my eyes are up here. Come on. Keep a professional, Allison. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart.
