My name is Nigel, Jason Hammer right over there. Ron DeSantis, Ron DeSantis of Florida, confirming he's got some congressional map stuff going on and it's eliminating the racially drawn gerrymandered districts. Now, As we talked about yesterday, ruled unconstitutional via the SCOTUS, 6 to 3 vote. So this was based out of Louisiana, and basically any state that said, we're changing the congressional maps because of race, the Supreme Court was like, yeah, you're not allowed to do that. You're allowed to change the maps. You're allowed to have debate about the maps. You're allowed to, we tried to. Well, I guess we didn't really try to do it here. We failed doing it here. Thank you. I was looking for the word failed. But you can't do it on a racial basis. Right. You can't go out and say, we want the black community to have a louder voice and more of a vote in what we're doing here. You can't do it. You can't do it based out of race because, you know, if the black community is like, hey, we need a louder voice, how would you feel if... It were the white community or the Hispanic community. Once you start putting race attached to something, it becomes unconstitutional. Well, back in the day, the white community would have said, I don't want the African American community in my maps, in my district. All right? So you give them their own thing. So it could go both ways in terms of, I mean, that's a racially charged thing. Like the whites back in the day in certain districts would say, no, I don't want the African American community in my district. Right. So, yeah, give them their own thing. So there's multiple reasons. Take race out of the entire situation. Thank you. So in Florida, they said, okay. I mean, this was being debated anyway in Florida, like Virginia. But it just made it easier for Ron DeSantis and their state legislature to say, all right, we're going to eliminate any racially drawn districts. And now Florida looks like they're going to pick up a minimum of four seats for the Republicans. That makes up for four. Cancels out Virginia, basically. And it looks like this is. Going to be a big wash when it all comes to be, unless, like we talked about yesterday, some of these other states, like parts of Alabama, parts of South Carolina, decided to do the same thing based on the Supreme Court District. And maybe the Republicans pick up a seat.
here or there might not necessarily come into play too much in the midterm, but certainly in the big election coming up in 2028. But Florida, they changed their congressional map. Republicans will get four seats. At least that's what it looks like. Keep in mind, Virginia still has to get through the court system. Even though they voted to go heavy blue, heavy Democrat, they've got legal stuff staring them right in the face. Oh, man. Would have been nice for Indiana just to maybe give it a puncher's chance, just to maybe even flip one seat. Somewhere right now, Rod Bray and Abdul are hitting a voodoo doll of you, Nige. They've got pens, they've got a Nigel doll, and they're stabbing it. Rod Bray and Abdul both. Now, here's the thing about Florida. Last week, and I think he knew what was going to happen, but Hakeem Jeffries, the... Democrats leader in the House, the minority leader, was trying to be Johnny Tough guy and threaten Florida. Well, if you do this, you know, we're going to come down there and we're going to shame all the Florida politicians and we're going to do this and that. And today, after they passed it all through, Ron DeSantis did what I thought was a pretty solid impression of Timu Obama, Hakeem Jeffries. We're going to do maximum warfare against Republicans. Florida Republicans, UF around. You're going to find out all this stuff. And he's like, oh, if you do the redistricting, we're going to take out all your members. We're going to do all this stuff. And what I said was, go ahead, make my day. If you don't think we're going to... Wow. You want to come down here and spend money in Florida. Roll the dice and take your chances, but don't think that you can come down here, issue threats to us, and somehow you're going to make us flinch. That is not happening. And in fact, it did not happen because as soon as he came out and started doing that last week, Florida legislature turned around and they passed a new map. I bet you were trying to fool me again with like a movie clip or something. And that's what I thought that was at the beginning. No. Because that was so good. That imitation. Can we play just a little bit of that? Just the beginning, Allison. We're going to do maximum warfare against Republicans. Florida Republicans. That's the Santa. You're going to find out. That's pretty good, right? It's pretty spot on for Hakeem Jeffries. It sounds just like him. That's great. And you know what? That right there is what the best Republican governor in America sounds like right there. And to his credit, he's got a legislature that's willing to back him up.
Oh, yeah. Here in Indiana, you'd have Rod Bray at the Senate saying that impression is something that's distasteful, and I want to do whatever the Democrat overlords tell me, even though there's an R next to my name. That's what would happen here in Indiana. What is Toyota affordability?
