Good morning, my American family. We show girls love on Valentine's Day, and they let us blow stuff up on the 4th of July. That's so American. It's freedom, baby, yeah. I'm an American, aren't I? You are an American success story, no doubt about that. You're out of shape even for an American. We are celebrating our freedom and our manhood. Stand back while I celebrate freedom. That's freedom. That's America. You're listening to The Hammer and Nitel show. It is America's birthday week. And when you think about great Americans, you think about George Washington, you think about Thomas Jefferson. And then you think about Tony Kennett from The Daily Signal, who joins us right now. The Tonus, how are you? I'm feeling American. I'm feeling free. And above all, I'm feeling glad to not be in Chicago, just because, you know, that's hell. Good afternoon, guys. Good afternoon. I was just telling Jerry Lopez, who's filling in for Nige here, these amazing 1776, you know, little pieces that air every day. I hope that the one on Friday is... It was July 3rd, 1776. Thomas Jefferson sitting in a hot tub with his slave said, oh, crap, that's due tomorrow. Like, I really hope that's the one that airs on Friday. I hope they tell the story about how President Madison and President Adams' wives were like, you didn't spend enough time with it. And also, I don't like your hair because it's noted that John Adams' wife was like, I think your hair looks ugly right before that. declaration of independence i tell you what man i have seen independence hall i went there this past year and i don't know why but i guess in my head i thought it was bigger you walk into independence hall and first of all the masonry is fantastic it's still basically the same brick that it was in 1776 but i thought the room would be bigger it was a small room tony and i just kept thinking to myself these dudes were dressed up in multiple layers all wood it was hotter than hell they didn't have the windows open because they didn't want anything to leak out back in the time could you imagine the infighting that was going on in that joint I can, but they all united around the most common American cause that there is. Flipping off the King of England. Yes. And nothing could be truer today. I mean, flipping off the Prime Minister of the UK and his failing government. I mean, some things are just as American as Apple Pie. Yeah, if I had a dollar for every time I...

I heard. I thought it was bigger. I'd have minus $10. But it's a, hey, first of all, congratulations. My good friend in Hermano, Tony Kennett, you deserve to hear this. It's crazy to see you on CNN, man. Well deserved. And I'm happy that local talent is bringing the heat on a national stage. I was very kind. I like going on CNN only because as soon as I say something that a lot of Hoosiers say, they look really confused because that's not in like the coastal Republican playbook. But it's a lot of fun. And again, I blame all of this on Hammer and Nigel every little bit of it. We all do. I mean, if you think about, again, I'm proud to work here at WIBC. I admit I'm a homer for this radio station, but we truly are one of the powerhouses and news talk around the country, not just from a signal perspective. It's a very strong signal, but Tony Kennett goes on national news all the time. Tony Katz goes on national news all the time. I go on national news. I have a weekly hit on Outkick all the time. That's three different people on the same station. I'm damn proud to work. here Tony. I'm also glad that we actually make predictions and get those predictions right. And that's the most important thing in the entire world is telling a bunch of random people how right you were because everyone loves our humility here at WIBC. Like when we call the Supreme Court decisions three for three or the day before, four for four. I mean, you know, then we pointed the scoreboard and said, I knew this was going to happen. I knew the good things were going to be here. I knew the disappointments were going to be over here. That's why you tune in here because even if we're grumpy, even... even if we have massive egos, we're most often right. I got to be honest, the birthright citizenship vote was closer than I thought it would be. It was five to four with John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett, citing with the liberal justices here. I don't know why I probably thought that would be a little bit more. I think President Trump was laying the groundwork for a beat down and a loss, but it was pretty damn close, Tony. It was. I was actually expecting, I knew that it was going to have the fail. I knew that the Trump administration was going to be ruled against, but I thought that the majority of the court would side with Brett Kavanaugh. It was a five to one, two, three decision. By which I mean you had Brett Kavanaugh who said, well, I'm going to leave the 14th Amendment alone, and I just disagree with Trump's executive order and federal law. And then you had, again, five of the justices. You had Amy Coney Barrett, who has ruled the right way on some things, but some things awfully. And then John Roberts, who was just as embarrassing to a lot of people as George W. Bush, who appointed him. They sided with the liberals and wrote, like, brand new nonsense and, like, straight up fan fiction for the 14th Amendment.

6:04

The King of England once said, my subjects are wherever the UK flag flies. And then that's what John Roberts said the 14th Amendment means. Now, that's really stupid. But I mean, it's better than Ketanji Brown Jackson's fan fiction and TikTok quotes, I guess, even if it's just a little. Yeah, I have so many daughters. I almost have a start in five. Why does it take the U.S. Supreme Court decision to come out and make the state's rights? Just like we had abortion and smoking marijuana. Why is this a state's right thing? Also, does this mean that... For the men competing against women. Dudes will smash females in all sports in any liberal state, aka California, Minnesota, New York City. So the answer here on a lot of the Supreme Court case is whether they're interpreting the Constitution or they're saying state allowed to ban things, which is the trans situation. That's actually Clarence Thomas's main opinion. There are several opinions where Clarence Thomas essentially writes, dude, what are we doing here? What do we do? Do we not all know the difference between guys and gals? I know Ketanji Brown Jackson doesn't. I mean, I guarantee you that you have never thought anything worse than what Clarence Thomas mutters under his breath every time Katangie Ketanji Brown Jackson speaks. Yeah. I guarantee you he said far worse things under his breath than you've ever thought about her. Is it worse than Rand Paul ripping on Dr. Anthony Fauci? Is it worse than that? I have it on pretty good authority that Clarence Thomas has before used slightly slurious words to describe Cotanji Ketanji Brown Jackson. Probably starts a lot with you make us. Yes. And I'm not joking there. That's not, I'm not teasing. That's for real. Good authority that he has muttered, you know. Yeah. So that all kind of stuff said. Yeah, the Supreme Court's kind of weird. Usually, Jerry, they just want to kick the ball over to Congress. But Congress is as useless as. Well, I mean, most of the Marion County state government. So, I mean, there's really not a whole lot that the Supreme Court can do these days. Sometimes they get stuff right and sometimes it's awful. Speaking of the awful, the one that I look at that frustrates me the most. Because like you, Tony, I kind of knew birthright citizenship was going to go down. I think President Trump knew it was going to go down. The mail-in votes after election day. This is where I think Amy Coney Barrett really dropped the ball siding with the libs on this one. So I'll be that guy here and I'll say I don't see as much of an issue with that one as everyone else really seems to. Because what the Supreme Court ruled is that if a state has a law in which you can count ballots several days after, but it is still postmarked. on the election day, then the state does get to make that decision. However, where they drop the ball is that the federal, the current federal standard is that the federal government has to certify those election results, not just for like state or gubernatorial or, you know, your state attorney general, but like actually for congressional seats in the presidency. So I think that Mississippi's rule, it's a five-day limit right now. I don't think that the actual text of the, um,

9:03

the ruling against the national Republican committee there. I don't think that I actually saw anything that says this stuff can't be challenged in the future. But again, there was a lot of mealy, mediocre vague language that just is coming out of every Supreme Court decision today. The chances of us waiting for a million votes, two million votes, three million votes in the last two or three days are pretty, you know, inconsequential. It's not going to happen. But what we're saying is we don't have an election day anymore. We have an election week. Well, this is actually something that Republicans have kind of dropped the ball an opportunity for. So there's two things that we want simultaneously. You do need to make election day a federal holiday. It needs to be a federal holiday. And then also that's what Democrats want. And then Republicans get on the other side is, okay, well, then all ballots are counted today. And unless you have a physical reason as in I am a diplomat or I am on business out of the country or C, I am currently serving in the military and I am out of the country. then no mail-in voting. Like that needs to be a standard because of the cases we've seen where right now there's a record low amount of trust in the American government and not just from the right, but from the left. And either you're going to rebuild that or you're going to watch it crumble. There's no third option where the establishment crews just let it ride and it'll get better someday. We're kind of leaving that behind as in America. And that low level of trust was a big part of the dissent that Samuel Alito wrote about. I got another couple minutes left here with Tony Kennett, host of the Tony Kennett cast coming up right after our show tonight at 7. Tony, I feel like you're a pretty good guy at branding and marketing. You've gone from an IPS teacher who is getting yelled at for not peddling DEI crap to a guy that has a national following and a national radio show working at the Daily Signal. So when you see what's happening in the WNBA, group of women who were flying on the back of Spirit Airlines flights until Caitlin Clark got into the league. Now they fly private. Now they play in big arenas. What are your thoughts when you see the way this league is ran? So I want to make this clear. And unlike a lot of Hoosiers who are like, you know, I really love watching Caitlin Clark and I love watching Sophie Cunningham. And I, you know, I really love watching myself. I will make this very clear. I don't like the WNBA. I think it is a joke league. And I have watched far more exciting junior high boys basketball games. So I don't want to make, I just want to make this clear right up front. I can't stand any of them. However, that said, the idea that the. Indy fever are not trademarking and running pictures, t-shirts with Sophie Cunningham pointed, pointing at people, and then underneath it, it says point taken. I don't know how we're missing the biggest branding opportunity on the face of the earth. And also leaning into making fun of Alyssa Thomas. You know, the WNBA commissioners clutching her pearls and screaming and crying, oh, it's so sad. People don't like Miami-style thuggery on the... Phoenix team, but you know what I mean, University of Miami, that kind of crap. That kind of thuggishness out on the court. Look, it's a branding opportunity. It's a chance to be a different team. Oh, she's the victim now, Tony. She thinks she's the victim out of all of this now. Again, this is where I, so there are several NFL teams. And I mean, good Lord, the Red Sox have done this in baseball for years. They love to be hated. They love to be hated. There's a, there's a, there's an, let's go Yankees. Let's go Yankees. Correct. There you go. Great.

12:32

Great example for Jerry there. And as a St. Louis Cardinals fan, I hate both of you. So in this instance, I think that the Indy Fever could be the team that everyone loves to hate and just continue to dominate and sell stuff out. But instead what you have is you'll have, and sorry, Caitlin is guilty of this too. She'll go on the girl, well, I don't want to be divisive. Shut up. Be divisive. Own it. Do it. Own it. I'm with you. Man up. Woman up or if you have to be gay. I don't know. Just get out there and you say, hey, I'm going to stand here. I'm going to be for it. You want to come after me. You want to throw a fist in my throat. Sophie Cunningham is going to knock you through the floor and then point at your corpse. I'm here for it. I love it. I love it. The Tony Kinnett cast tonight at 7. Tonis, thank you. You guys are the best. What is Toyota affordability? It's buying smart.
